"Daniel M'Qess," he replied. His tail was hanging limply from the side of the bed, twitching occasionally, his ears lying flat on his skull, his deep brown fur standing on end. "A starship?" he asked, "how long...where's my shuttle...my research? They didn't get it did they?"
"Calm down" Tiberian said in soothing tones "I'll go and check on your shuttle, and on your research. Our Captain will be down to talk to you shortly, so stay calm, and I'll let you know the second I have anything"
With a reassuring smile, he turned away from the Caitian, beckoning towards Katie. He pulled her close to his side as he walked out of sickbay.
"I assume it was the claws and fur that spooked you" he asked, reminiscing about Bellicose "Not the fact that he was slightly agitated"
"Can you blame me" she scowled "It is uncanny isn't it. I just don't want a re-run of the last time we met a feline species"
"Don't worry" Tiberian admonished her "I'm not planning on letting anything happen to you. I'll call for a marine detail to come down and hang around outside whilst the Captain is there, and to remain as long as our guest is with us. I'll go and check on his shuttle now, but maybe it would be a good idea to give him something to keep him calm and docile, plus. try and find out who "they" are"
With one last squeeze, he relinquished her back to her duties, leaving the medical deck and heading for the shuttlebay. He came in to see a battle damaged Federation shuttle, but of a model backdated o the time of the Dominion war, when Tiberian was still a child. The shuttle looked as if it had come fresh out of the Battle of Chintoka though, as the hull plating was burned and charred something chronic. There were visible hull breaches in certain areas of the ship, and the starboard nacelle looked as though it was hanging on by the proverbial thread. He walked forwards annd ran his hand gently over the shuttle, reminiscing about his youth, when his father had taught him basic piloting skills in a similar model. As he wandered around, tracing his fingers over the ships conteurs, he saw Commander Sharp making a formal inspection of the shuttle.
"Quite a find, wouldn't you say Robert?" He laughed "Admittedly not in the best of shapes, but still a nice bit of memorabilia. What do you make of these blast patterns?"
<TAG Commander Sharp>
"If it's all the same to you, I think I'll call Tiana down to do a phase resonance frequency analysis, just so we can determine roughly the model of weapons used" He tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Wong to Commander Galwyn, could you please come to shuttlebay one, I need a scientists eye on some battle scars=/\=
<TAG Commander Galwyn>
That done, he tapped his commbadge again, remembering his earlier promise to Katie, and remembering that the Captain might well be in with the Caitian as he was speaking.
=/\=Wong to Corporal T'Lar. Assuming you're out of the practice range by now, and that's a pretty broad assumption, take three men and go and stand guard outside sickbay until further orders. Wong out=/\=
All things said and done, he began searching for an access port in order to gain entry to the shuttle, curious about the research that the scientist had been so adamant on recovering.

Russell did not like this, already there were reports coming up that the ship they had picked up had been though a small war. He hoped that nothing else was amiss but he would not be too surprised after the whole sun exploding thing Russell thought nothing would surprise him much anymore.
--Science Labs, USS Victory (Lilly Anderson, Lt)--
Lilly was happily checking on her experiments when the light in the lab went out, annoyed that this was the ninth time the lights in this poor excuse for a science lab that she did not even bother calling engineering this time. Instead she checked the shield on her main experiment was still functioning and left for main engineering so that she could tear a hole in the chief engineer. Arriving in engineering she spotted a fairly young but a commander so she assumed he must be the chief here, walking over she immediately took his attention by smashing her fist down on a inactive consol. “Would you mind explaining why I keep losing power in my lab, some of my experiments have a gift at escaping when power is lost, well?” <Tag Andae/engineer> “Well that is not good enough, I want a repair team to deal with the power issues in the science labs before I have to hunt down my own experiments!” Lilly was about to hit the consol again when a small furry object fell onto both her and the engineers heads, Lilly was shocked at first thinking that an engineer was playing a prank or something. But as she looked at the balls of fur she noted two things, one that they were moving and two they were giving birth, “Well this is unexpected, the stasis fields on part of the cargo must have broken done, seems we may now have a tribbles outbreak on board” Lilly saw that the engineer was shocked that she looked so pleased “well it means that you are not so incompetent as I first thought”

--Turbo lift (Russell)--
As Russell made his way down to his office he hoped he could get a few minutes to read though some reports before anything else decided to appear. Nearing his deck Russell felt a small shudder in the turbo lift as it stopped and went black. “Computer, identify reason for power lose to turbo lift” Russell waited without reply from the computer, hitting his comm. Badge Russell hoped that it was just the turbo lift “Commander Davis to Engineering, I am presently stuck in a turbo lift, please could someone work out what the hell is going on with the power systems as this is getting silly”

Nika was shortly called down to meet the now-conscious rescue-ee. She assured him they'd recovered the shuttle and that even now her officers were looking for his research and would be in contact as soon as they found anything.
“Is there somewhere you were heading that we should contact and let them know you'll be running a little late?” Nika asked the Caitian.
As she was waiting for his answer, the lights flickered briefly in sickbay, and Nika could see the medical officers biting back curses, as they quickly started rushing to check their equipment. “Excuse me for a second,” she said, and went off to talk to the Acting Chief Medical Officer. He explained that the backup power had covered all vital medical equipment, but that this was getting to be more than annoying.
=/\=Nika to Engineering=/\= she said. She knew they were likely tired of being irritated, so just listened to the engineer's response when she asked for a status report, rather than ordering them to do what they were already. =/\=Thank you. Please, continue on.=/\= She didn't like this, but she had to trust that engineering was doing absolutely everything they could.
“Sorry,” Nika apologized, returning to M'Qess to receive the answer to her earlier question.

“Commander Sharp, would you mind heading down to the shuttle bay and looking at how badly the shuttle was damaged. As well as determining its exact model?” " "Yes sir". As Sharp heads to the aft turbo lift he hears commander pride ask. " Captain may I go with commander sharp, I may bring some insight to the missions as a pilot. Not to mention I could check to see if there is anything worth salvaging. Thats if its O'kay with you if not I will remain at my station" "come on commander you can go through the navigation quicker than i can."
20 minutes later in shuttle bay 1 going over the shuttle craft commander Matthew's walks in. “Cmdr Sharp What do you think happen to this shuttle it look like it been thru a bad fire fight looking at those phaser mark patterns?"
"We are still trying to figure out what happened all we know is this shuttle was attacked and barley escaped."
"Quite a find, wouldn't you say Robert?" He laughed "Admittedly not in the best of shapes, but still a nice bit of memorabilia. What do you make of these blast patterns?"
"If it's all the same to you, I think I'll call Tiana down to do a phase resonance frequency analysis, just so we can determine roughly the model of weapons used" He tapped his comm badge.
"Col. i was gonna call Commander Galwyn down here as soon as i finished going over everything on the ship. I don't mind you helping but i do like to try to figure things out for myself before i start calling on everyone now a big help would be if you concentrate on the engineering part of the ship ok."

Blakus was busy checking the warp core's immediately adjacent power conduits for unwanted fluctuations. The power from the core was stable, it was just the surrounding systems that were having problems. Blakus remained stone-faced as he continued tampering. He realised that he was playing around too much with the thing, and it was likely causing unwanted extra-fluctuations as he tried to find the right combination of energy distribution. But!, and it was a big but, it was not wholly his fault, it was mostly out of his hands... for the moment..
This was precisely what Blakus wanted to tell the young blue-uniformed Lieutenant who marched in and rammed her fist down on the console beside him. Blakus turned his head slowly through ninety degrees to look at this newcomer. He had no time for this...
“Would you mind explaining why I keep losing power in my lab," she shouted, "Some of my experiments have a gift at escaping when power is lost, well?”
Blakus replied after a pause, in which he gathered his thoughts. "I'm afraid that the.. unfortunate, power problems have been affecting a great many people beside yourself Lieutenant." Blakus said in a very orderly tone, with just a tinge of emphasis on the 'Lieutenant'.
“Well that is not good enough, I want a repair team to deal with the power issues in the science labs before I have to hunt down my own experiments!”
She was clearly quite angry, and Blakus had no more patience to tip-toe around her, no patience to act as if there was no problem, "Hunt them down?" Tones of incredulity were in his voice. Not letting her reply: "What experiments are you doing Lieutenant? In fact, I don't want to know, now get the hell out of my engine room before I - !"
**SQUEAK!**
Something soft hit Blakus on the head. "What the...?" The as of yet unnamed Lieutenant seemed confused at first but then inexplicably (and infuriatingly) grinned.
“Well this is unexpected," she said, "The stasis fields on part of the cargo must have broken done, seems we may now have a tribbles outbreak on board.” Blakus grunted in confusion and unhappiness, he asked why a plague such as tribbles having been unleashed on the ship to wreak havoc was such a good thing.
“Well it means that you are not so incompetent as I first thought.”
"Well thanks very much, nice to know my work is appreciated around here... Lieutenant.. Anderson." Blakus finished the sentence once Anderson had given her name. He didn't feel all that comfortable with sarcasm, but sometimes there was just no substitute, especially when he was feeling bitter. Sighing, he tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Captain Cir'Kem, this is Commander Blakus. I thought I should inform you, we have an outbreak of... Tribbles... aboard.=/\=
<Tag Cir'Kem>
Loathing and helplessness was etched in Blakus's utterance of the word 'Tribble'. They're supposed to be extinct! he thought.
“Commander Davis to Engineering, I am presently stuck in a turbo lift, please could someone work out what the hell is going on with the power systems as this is getting silly.”
Blakus let out an almighty sigh as he left Anderson to pick up the furry things on the floor, he signalled to Lieutenant Holland to get on the turbolift problem as he himself responded to the XO, =/\=Sir, we are working on it. We have a minor outbreak of... Tribbles.=/\= He had to keep saying that disgusting word! =/\=It's not completely our fault sir, I have people working on getting you out. Blakus out.=/\=
<Tag Davis>
Blakus had had to restrain himself from saying that, in his opinion, the power problems were not 'at all' Engineering's fault.

=/\=I'll be down shortly=/\= Tiana said. She had just about finished her testing anyway. It seemed that there was something interesting going on onboard. Tiana closed down her holoprogamme and saved the modifications. She was happy the rifle was working as its designer had intended.
Tiana arrived in the shuttle bay to find Colonel Wong and Commander Sharp looking at a small shuttle that had quite clearly been on the wrong side of an high-powered energy weapon and several times from the amount of carbon scoring on the hull plating. She was informed that they had rescued the occupant of the shuttle and that he was in sickbay. She agreed with their assessment of the situation and agreed to carry out the a phase resonance frequency analysis. She drew her tricorder and began to gather the necessary data.

The Caitian mewed softly as he struggled to sit up. His tail caught on the edge of the bed and he yelped in pain. "Murr, I was headed for..." He hesitated, trailing off as he pained his memory. He didn't need to fake it, for he'd never been told where his shuttle had been programmed to go. "I'm sorry, I don't remember." His tail drooped in response, his ears flattening against his skull.
This time, he did manage to sit up and glanced at the captain before him; she looked odd with white eyes that seemed to see right through him. Involuntarily, he cringed. "I don't know who attacked me either," he continued, looking away.
A tone of urgency returned in his voice. "My research, was it saved? It's vital that I retain possession of it!" The Caitain reached over and grabbed Cir'kem's uniform by the front, his paw keeping a strong hold on it as he pulled her closer. "Please captain, it's important!"

Scene Shuttle bay #1
“Cmdr Matthew was Standing behind Cmdr Sharp as he gave a quick Assessment of what he think happen to the Shuttle Doing the Fire fight But he made sure to Explain all he just said was conjecture not fact we all would have to wait for the Scientific Data from the flight recorder and the report from Cmdr Galwyn to prove it one way or the other .
“Cmdr Matthew well everyone theses senior officer get Together are fun but I have a Departmental meeting to get to Cmdr Sharp I would like a Copy of the report once it finish I Guest ill see you all at the weekly poker Games .
(5 Minutes later )
Scene: Operations Department Conference Room
This was Cmdr Matthew 2nd Departmental meeting since this mission got Underway . He had spent the hours before reviewing the files of every member in his department, playing special attention to the departmental heads. He also studied the inner workings of how the different departments interacted with each other.
“On the Victory, he had several Departments on Board that mean ten times the headache. Each Department had an agenda, special projects they wanted resources for, they wanted more space, or more staff or more this or that.
They actually competed with each other to get what they needed. How they all function together a star Ship was a mystery to Cmdr Matthew ,
“Cmdr Matthew had looked through the files for a good Assistant Chief Operations Officer and had stumbled across Lt, Cmdr Brea Denizens, a Sardinian and one of his division head “She had a good general knowledge of most fields of ship Operations and knew the sack well. She had previously served aboard another Starship, before being transferred to the Victory
At the end of the meeting, he decided to inform them of his choice. "Finally, I am going to name my Assistant , it will be Lt, Cmdr Brea Denizens
If there are no further questions, I would like to close this meeting."
“The different Division heads began to file out of the room. He did notice a smug look Bare gave to the third shift Division head; he was going to see what that was about later. Chief Petty Officer Tellico stayed behind to discuss something with him.

It had taken a while but Blakus and his staff, with help from some marines, had managed to wedge open the turbolift that Commander Davis had inadvertantly been trapped in. "Ah sir, sorry you've been trapped in there so long." Blakus talked to Davis through the now foot-wide gap in the turbolift doors, just enough for the XO to get through. Without a moment's hesitation, Davis did indeed squeeze himself through the gap and stumbled out into the corridor, he looked annoyed as he dusted himself down.
Blakus stood around the turbolift entrance with three of his men and two marines. He explained the situation, how Lieutenant Anderson's experiments on Tribbles had lost containment with the result that the furry abominations were now spreading like wildfire throughout the ship. The XO's reaction was odd to Blakus. He was confused and annoyed yes, but it was a particular type of confused and annoyed.. the type that conveyed familiarity. He knew Anderson. Blakus tilted his head in thought at this as he made his way back to Engineering, Hmm, oh ok, he thought. It wasn't that unusual, he supposed.
Flanked by two engineers, Blakus entered Engineering. By now his staff were aware with the Tribble infestation aboard the Victory. Procedure on how to remove such a threat was not Engineering's concern, Security, Operations. Those two departments were more suited to pest-removal. The only concern Blakus would have was the potential damage of systems due to the Tribbles. He had measures in place to protect key systems. Perhaps a meeting with Commander Sharp was in order, so that he could plan for installation of forcefields etc. In fact, he thought, why not do it now?
=/\=Blakus to Commander Sharp. Sir, could I meet with you in your office? I would like to discuss procedures for protecting key systems from this Tribble outbreak. I know, it sounds like overkill, but we can't let them get into the more sensitive areas of the ship. I also need to dig these Tribbles out of the conduit tunnels, they are the main cause for the power shortages. Perhaps Commander Matthew could come as well, he may want to know what we are doing?=/\=
<Tag Cmdr. Sharp>
Apparently, the Victory had picked up a Caitian scientist from the shuttle they had encountered. Blakus had never met a Caitian, it would be interesting to meet him, but for now he had to constrain himself to his department.
The CEO stepped up beside Ensign Taylor, forcing the thoughts of the Felinoid out of his head. There was a subject that was more of a... personal matter, for him to explore. He glanced at Taylor as he worked beside her. He tried to find a way to bring it up, "Are we still on for the mess hall when we get off duty?" He settled on simply asking her.
"Yes," she replied quietly, it was a loud whisper.
"Good, umm, yes, we seem to have run overtime what with the Tribbles, the XO getting stuck in the turbolift again, that rather 'forceful' Lieutenant Anderson-"
"It's ok." Taylor stopped him. Blakus was glad. He'd gone off on a bit of rant, harsh whispers directed towards those he was blaming all his problems on. This was a strand of thought that ran through his head, and he was angry that he'd let them run away again. He ran the thoughts backward, trying to undo them in his mind. He was not blaming others for his own problems, because a lot of them were not his problems! "I don't mind," Taylor insisted, "I've been caught up in work as well, which is why I am still here."
Oh. The knowledge that Taylor was hanging around because of work was a light slap in the face to Blakus. He had kind of hoped it was because she was waiting for him. "Ok, good," he said. "Meet outside in fifteen minutes?" Taylor nodded and smiled in response. Satisfied, and feeling buoyed in happiness by the exchange he set about planning to remove the Tribbles from the Victory.

Nika tried to remember what she could about tribbles, which wasn't terribly much. They were supposed to be extinct, so her lessons at Starfleet Academy had barely touched on them. But what she did know wasn't good. There were two pressing concerns for her regarding this matter. The first, how they got on board, was important, but not as important for the moment as how to get them off. But she did want one thing cleared up first. =/\=Did they come aboard with our rescuee?=/\=she asked, the answer to which was a no. Blakus was ready to explain exactly who was responsible, but Nika didn't recognize the name, and cut off his further explanation.
=/\=Do what's necessary to protect the ship and contain them as much as possible=/\= she ordered. The way she remembered it, tribbles were a lot like the Firont watesm, who got into everything, and chewed wires. She didn't want the Victory being damaged by the tribbles, in as much as that could be avoided.
Having done with the situation what she could, which was delegate it back to engineering and security, Nika returned to the bedside of M'Qess. “My research, was it saved?” he asked. “It's vital that I retain possession of it!” Before Nika had a chance to respond to that, he grabbed the front of her uniform and continued. “Please captain, it's important!”
“I understand that,” Nika said, taking a step backward. She didn't like her uniform being grabbed at all. Besides, if sickbay became convinced she was causing their patient to overexert himself they could throw her out. “It seems at this point that, at the least, the majority of your research can be recovered. There's no serious degradation to the systems which held that information.”

Tiberian did a comical little salute and then porceeded to the rear of the shuttle, tricorder in hand, to bein inspecting the engines of the shuttle. It appeared that several of the EPS relays had ruptured, causing the air inside the shuttle to become toxic, as well as causing some minor corrosion of the systems. Worried about anay damage coming to the Caitians research, work that appeared to be causing the big cat a great amount of anxiety, he set about trying to gain entrance to the shuttle in order to ensure its survival. Unfortunately, a direct phaser hit had apparently welded the main entrance hatch shut, a fact not noticed until know as the scientist had been beamed directly aboard. Tiberian scratched the stubble on his chin a little more firmly than usual, mostly out of a strong urge to repress the marine desire within him to simply blast the hatch off it's hinges with a phaser rifle.
"Tiana" he called, attracting Galwyn's attention from the other side of the shuttlecraft "Sorry to distract you from your work, but I could use a scientist's opinion. I need to get into the shuttle, both to check out the engines, and to save the data onboard, but the only way in is welded shut. I don't want to blow it off just yet in case I do more harm than good, but if I could save the data, then I would be a bit less worried. Do you think you could programme the computer to link up with the shuttle systems and begin downloading the datafiles. I could probably get there mainframes going with a couple of portable power packs, if you're game"
<TAG Tiana>
Tiberian smiled nad gave brief thumbs up as he walked away, turning and calling out to the marine nearest to him.
"Private, get me an engineering kit, two portable generators, and a set of umbilical cables. Bring them over to the shuttle"
Tiberian turned and returned to the shuttles side, kneeling and prying a panel off the upper side of the port nacelle. The mechanics inside were and absolute mess, the shuttle itself having obviously taken a pounding, but he was fairly confident that he could rig up a power cell. The marine returned with the requested equipment, and Tiberian went to work on one of the many patch jobs that he had seen his father do with a variety of things in his youth. He was connecting the two umbilicals to the primary matrix when he heard a call from Commander Sharp.
"Col. Wong you want to join me in my office it seems we have a tribble infestation?"
"Oh this is all we need" Tiberian sighed and hung his head for a moment "On my way, private, finish hooking these up and then go to Commander Galwyn for orders"
He stood stretched his back, and then sauntered to the chief of security's office, sitting and listening to the relation of the tribble infestation, an experiment that had apparently got loose due to one of the power failures. Tiberian couldn't tell whether or not he should be amused or annoyed that such a ridiculous experiment had been allowed to be conducted on a ship in space, but he saw no sense in crying over the proverbial. He interjected his point of view.
"Now gentlemen, as a marine I have no qualms about shooting things, especially when ship security is in danger, but even I couldn't attack these things. Can't we just use the cargo transporters and beam them all into a very secure cargobay?"

A steaming mug appeared. Matthew picked the mug up and took a sip from it. He sat back down. He was trying hard to learn what he could, but the knowledge he started with about the subject was rather limited. He sighed and started the list for the 18th time.

The CEO practically ran down the corridor to the turbolift. He'd only just realised his blunder, if he were capable of being in two locations in one instant then he would have been fine but unfortunately...
Blakus hit the chime at the door of Commander Sharp's office. "Sorry I'm late," he said as he was accepted in. Blakus tried not to show his annoyance with himself as he sat in the proffered chair opposite Commander Sharp. He shifted uncomfortably in the seat, it didn't feel right to sit down at a time like this.
The restlessness overcame Blakus and he slowly stood up. "Right sir," he began, looking down at the still sitting Commander Sharp. "I first encountered these Tribbles while in Engineering, one.. uh, fell on my head. After some searching, we found about a hundred of them at the top of the core, near the Matter Injector Assembly. We cleared those out. But now, there are reports of them all over the ship. They are in the power systems." Blakus eye was distracted by the shape of another person quietly entering the CTSO's office. It was Colonel Wong. "We know this," Blakus went on unperturbed, "Because we are still having these damn power problems."
In reflection of Blakus' annoyance the lights in the room chose that time to flicker, they momentarily went out, bathing the room in darkness, before realighting.
"There's no way to get them out of there and contained, not to mention where else they are on the ship, except through simple hard work." Blakus finished.
The other two Officers present gave their opinions, with Colonel Wong going first. "Now gentlemen, as a marine I have no qualms about shooting things, especially when ship security is in danger, but even I couldn't attack these things. Can't we just use the cargo transporters and beam them all into a very secure cargobay?"
The CEO shook his head, "That may account for some, but most of them are in the tunnels that contain the conduits, interference from the plasma makes transporting impossible to be safe, especially intraship transporting. So even if we remove the ones in transporter receptive areas, that will not account for the rest. And with Tribbles, you have to get them all, as you know of course."
Wong didn't say anything at first.
"Colonel, trust me if we could do it using just the transporters I would. Nothing would give me more pleasure to beam them out in to spa-, in to a cargo bay, in to.. not out to."
<Tag Wong>
Blakus was still feeling bitter that his delayed 'date' with Ensign Taylor had been interrupted by this. He did not think. He'd been too caught up with everything to realise his mistake.
"So," said Blakus, moving around the room, "I recommend we get to work. I'll get my staff to assist, but Engineering's main priority is repairing the damage inflicted to the Power grid."

Tiana was busy scanning the shuttle from all angles, she had some theories about what and who had caused this damage but she was waiting until she had all the data before seeing how her theories panned out.
"Tiana" Tiberian called "Sorry to distract you from your work, but I could use a scientist's opinion.
Tiana thought for a moment. It had been a while since she had done any computer hacking. Then she smiled. "Sure, why not. Get the computers going again, I'll get the information out of them for you."
Tiberian smiled and gave brief thumbs up as he walked away, turning and calling out to the marine nearest to him.
"Private, get me an engineering kit, two portable generators, and a set of umbilical cables. Bring them over to the shuttle"
Tiberian set to work, despite his idea, Tiana was surprised to find that the Colonel was technically capable. What he was doing was no small feat of engineering.
"Col. Wong you want to join me in my office it seems we have a tribble infestation?" Tiana stared at the celing in askance how on Trill had Tribbles got on to the ship? Still it wasn't her problem at the moment. She ran through in her mind all the experiments that she knew were running in her labs, as far as she could recall the sensitive stuff was all forcefield and containment-case secured so there should be no problem there.
"Oh this is all we need" Tiberian sighed and hung his head for a moment "On my way, private, finish hooking these up and then go to Commander Galwyn for orders"
Tiana gave the marine a wry smile as he left the shuttle bay, he had just been given a problem she was pleased she didn't have. Private Richards did not take long to make the connections. In the mean time Tiana wondered what kind of security the scientist would put on his data, she did not doubt that there would be some level of security. She locked her own data for example and every other scientist she had ever met did the same. She gathered a handful of data crystals and linked a tricorder to the shuttle's main computer.
Part of the computer had obviously been damaged because it was rather sluggish and slow to respond to her commands but that could simply be that she was accessing from outside via a cabled data feed...

After spending what seemed like hours, alone, in sickbay, M'Qess finally got tired of it and discharged himself when one of the nurses wasn't looking. Being a cat, he pussyfooted past the guards, quietly slipping out of sickbay. He had work to do, and without his data he couldn't do much.
For a while he just wandered around the Victory, poking his nose in here and there, asking innocent questions. He wanted the official tour of course, learn as much as he could before he could indeed act. Right now, however he had to keep up the appearance of stricken Caitian scientist, however much that went against his Kzinti intelligence and warrior training.
As such, he soon found his way to the shuttlebay, where his own damage craft was salvaged. He saw the marine who had tried to comfort him earlier, but also saw many he hadn't seen before.
"Don't touch that!" he cried, pouncing forward when one of the gathered officers was about to weld open the door to his craft. "Get away from my shuttle!" Hackles on end, claws displayed, the feline looked as dangerous as any angry creature. His tail lashed twice, as he bared his teeth. His data was important, and not to be seen by just everyone, surely these people understood the word 'classified'?
He faintly heard the word 'tribble' being mentioned and that gave him a bit of an idea. "Some of those tribbles are mine," he hissed, "part of my research. I beamed them aboard before I could be rescued; they're harmless." He had to get his hands on the tribbles though and manipulate them a little for it to work, but it could work either way. "I'll be needing them back."
M'Qess slapped the hand of one of the engineers away, then forcefully shoved him aside. "I said don't touch it!"

Security office
As Sharp, Matthews, Wong and Blakus discuss the tribble problem. Col. Wong doesn't want to harm the tribles. "Col. normally i would agree with you but due to were on a ship with limited resources we need to get rid of them permitly."
=^= Sickbay to Commander Sharp our visitor has checked himself out of sick bay we do not know where he went=^=
=^= Security to cargo bay 1 our guest is attacking the engineers.=^=
"Col. find some way to deal with the tribbles i don't care how you deal with em and find out who was doing tribble research then block their access to the science labs and any other area that does research and i will deal with our cat problem."
<tag Wong>
5 minutes later Sharp walks into cargo bay 1 and fires a phaser on stun at the Caitian. The Caitian falls to the ground stunned.
" Take him to the brig search him completely and notify me immediately when he wakes up and have sickbay run his DNA to find out who he really is and I want in that shuttle yesterday open it up any way you can.
=^= Sharp to Wong I want the tribles put in some kind of forcefield and given to commander Galwyn to study.=^=
<tag Wong>
=^= Sharp to Captain our guest escaped sick bay attacked an engineer in cargo bay 1 he is curently in the brig=^=

Sharp rapidly departed his office, leaving Blakus, Colonel Wong and Commander Matthew. Blakus was angry that their new Caitian passenger was assaulting his engineers, but he tried to let it subside and allow Sharp to do his job. The security chief stopped for long enough before leaving so that he could tell Wong what to do.
"Right, I'll get to work digging these things out of my warp engines." Blakus said. He quickly headed for the exit, speaking more to himself now than he was to Wong and Matthew, "They've probably completely overrun the entire matter/antimatter injector assembly by now..." he said. Already, Blakus was finding himself slipping into hyper-stress mode on this mission. He knew he had to calm down so he could do his job with a clear head, unfazed by the pride, anger and bitterness that had been clouding his judgement as of late. Hmph, easier said than done... he thought. The problem was that Blakus's mind didn't want to know how to calm down, and he was letting it consume him.
On the route to Engineering Blakus thought of something that he probably should have done half an hour ago, =/\=Commander Blakus to Ensign Taylor=/\= he said after tapping his commbadge.
=/\=Go ahead.=/\=
Blakus had listened for any tone of annoyance in her voice, but there had been none, none at all.
=/\=Uh, sorry I missed our um, meeting, in the mess hall. Something came up.=/\= He half-lied. Something had indeed come up, but Blakus had made it come up in the first place by calling on Commander Sharp.
=/\=That's ok=/\= Taylor replied brightly, =/\=I know how busy everything's got recently, I understand. We'll do it some other time.=/\=
=/\=Ok, good. Great.=/\= A crewmember walked by Blakus and he was made aware of how odd it must have looked, him walking down the middle of a corridor talking over the commbadge, in what was a private conversation. Stepping to one side of the corridor into a conveniently placed junction that provided access to a Jefferies' Tube, Blakus managed to organise another meeting time with Ensign Taylor. With satisfaction and relief, he closed the channel and headed off down the corridor again.
The CEO entered Engineering a few minutes later, and immediately went up to the upper level. "Ensign Bligh, with me please." The young engineer whom Blakus had addressed looked up from his work.
"Yes, sir," he said.
"No luck in the Jefferies' Tubes?" Blakus asked him as they both went through the door that eventually led to the warp core's matter injector.
"Correct, it seems that the power can't be restored to full from there."
"Indeed, we need to start from the core and work our way out." They started climbing the ladder on the other side of the door, it went up ten metres and came out on the level of the matter injector nozzle, right at the top of the magnetic constrictors.
"We need to get rid of these things in here first, it's become a hell of hindrance in repair efforts."
Who said that..? Blakus looked up and saw Lieutenant Mattheson, he had clearly heard Blakus and Bligh's exchange. "That's why we're here Lieutenant!" Blakus called up the eight or nine metres of ladder that he still had to climb. Moments later the CEO and Bligh stepped off the top of the ladder, they looked around. The maintenance room they were standing in, which was adjacent to the matter injector, contained Lieutenant Mattheson and a couple of other officers, as well as half a dozen enlisted crewmen. They were surrounded by hundreds of Tribbles, and were clearly discovering more and more in the recesses of the opened-up conduits and the Jefferies' Tube entrance. Blakus stood staring aghast, at what was before him, he glanced at Bligh briefly, who he saw had a similar expression of disbelief and disgust on his face. "How long have you been going at this Lieutenant?" Blakus asked Mattheson.
Mattheson shook his head, "Not long, sir. Ten minutes?"
"That's good, I guess." At least they haven't been here that long... he thought. He looked at his intended target, the Jefferies' Tube, and indicated it, "Do you mind if we use that?" He asked Mattheson, "There aren't anymore of them in there are there?"
Mattheson shrugged, blew out a breath and shifted his weight, "There could be, who knows? Go ahead, sir."
Blakus shook his head and signalled for Bligh to follow him, "As usual you fill me with hope and confidence Lieutenant..." he muttered. Crouching down and entering the Tube, Blakus got to work.

OFF: as I stated...I don't appreciate being shot without my approval. since the post is not edited I am going to ignore being shot and put in the brig and go ahead with just defending my shuttle. Acquire my permission first, if you want to shoot or lock up my character.
ON:Daniel watched the officers level their weapons at him and he released the engineer. "My tribbles," he demanded, then pointed at the shuttlecraft, "my shuttle, my data, my research. You don't get aboard without my authorisation. I don't acknowledge you, stay away from my vessel!"
The Caitian had grabbed the phaser from the engineer and held it rightly leveled at the surprised security chief. "Stand back!" he hissed, the whole length of his tail lashing twice yet again in fury. His pupils were narrow slits though his eyes were wide; his ears lying flat on top of his skull. Everything about him denoted a very angry cat, even his claws were unsheathed.
"I want to talk to the captain," he demanded, "get her down here!" He pointed the weapon at the still crouching engineer. "Or I'll shoot him, and I'm faster than you are."

"Any way I can, hmph!" Tiberian muttered to himself as he left Sharp's office, rankling at having the situation dumped on him. He would have much rather taken his chances shooting at the big cat, at least with that he had experience. He was halfway down the corridor, following Blakus, when he overheard part of his conversation over his commbadge, a conversation with an Ensign Taylor. He stopped, just short of the corner he was about to turn, and heard the end of the conversation without ever being noticed, save for a passing crewman who gave him something of an odd look. He turned and walked back the way he came, smiling to himself; now was the time for some fun meddling.
He headed to the bridge, summoning Martinez to join him with a message from the computer, and then set to work at a science station. That was of course after he had done the obligatory duty of clearing a dozen or so tribbles onto the floor. Martinez arrived moments later, and, after dodging around the screeching tribbles, rested himself against the control panel.
"They're everywhere" he said in a state of semi-shock "The jeffries tubes, the vents, the decks. It's like an invasion"
"Forget an invasion" Tiberian scoffed "This is a like a victory dance to rub it in. They're not even meeting co-ordinated resistance" He stopped and leaned on the panel, thinking. "Any recommendations?"
"Sterilising them might be a good idea" the Sergeant Major shrugged "At least then we only have to get rid of the couple of thousand we currently have"
"That might not be a bad idea actually" Tiberian had a sudden brainwave "Commander Matthews" he called to the operations officer who had also come from the meeting "Computer, disable all replicators on this ship until further notice, authorisation Wong 64 Theta Proxima. I need a second senior officer to authorise the shutting down of an entire ship system. If we can shut down the replicators and deny the tribbles food, then we can at least slow the rate of advance. It would only be for a few hours, and we have emergency ration packs if needs be"
<TAG Commander Matthews>
"Well that was one way" he thought out loud "Now we just have to do something about all the ones we already have aboard"
"Why not just use the anti intruder counter-measures" the ensign on tactical suggested "Anaesthetise them all"
"Not bad ensign" Tiberian grinned "And that way, we could at least protect key systems" He tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Wong to Commander Balkus, get all of your people out of engineering and into EVA suits. I'm going to flood engineering with anaesthizine gas. That should disable all the tribbles until you can get them out of the hardware. I'll have some men set up a secure field in cargobay 2 that you can dump them all into. Oh and Commander, when you're done could you meet me in science lab one, I have something to discuss with you=/\=
<TAG Commander Blakus>
=/\=Attention science lab one, please secure any experiments and please evacuate to science lab two, I am going to attempt to immobilise the tribbles in your vicinity. You have ten minutes. Wong out=/\= Tiberian had no intention of flooding anywhere besides engineering with gas at the moment, but this fulfilled his secondary objective.
=/\=Colonel Wong to Ensign Taylor=/\= he said, in his most manly and businesslike voice =/\=Please report to science lab one, I need an engineers perspective on some schematics=/\=
He smiled, ignoring the sidewards galnce being given to him by Martinez. He was having fun, the tribbles were being cornered, and soon both Commander Blakus and Ensign Taylor would also be happy.
"They will not thank you for this" Martinez warned in his usual sagely tones.
"Oh shush" Tiberina scolded him, not liking to have cold water thrown on his little experiments. =/\=Wong to engineering, I'm going to release the gas in two minutes. Confirm your readiness=/\=

Tiana had finished getting in to the computer on the shuttle, to her surprise the data that was stored there wasn't protected by a password or any other form of security measure. As the download progressed the Caitian arrived in the shuttle bay. He apparently didn't notice Tiana on the other side of the shuttle from him as she continued her work.
As the situation flared Tiana stayed quiet and did her best to fade into the background.
"I want to talk to the captain," he demanded, "get her down here!" He pointed the weapon at the still crouching engineer. "Or I'll shoot him, and I'm faster than you are." Tiana swallowed as quietly as she could, how had this got so out of control so quickly? As far as she knew the Caitian had wanted the data saved. She also doubted that he was the one responsible for the tribbles, as far as she was aware he had been unconscious long before the Victory got into transporter range. She had her own theory about where they had come from but she needed to get out of here before dealing with Lily. Now definiately wasn't the time for arguing.
Tiana pulled the comm badge off her tunic and held it to her mouth. She winced at the activation crackle but spoke quietly and as quickly as she could.
=/\=Commander Galwyn to Colonel Wong, Commander Davis and Captain Cir'Kem. The Caitian is is the shuttle bay, he seems to have gone crazy, he's holding Commander Sharp and one of the engineering staff hostage. Hasn't noticed me yet. He wants the Captain down here. Could you flood the bay with Anaesthetisine or something. Quickly=/\=

Tiana could hear her voice rising in pitch, she hated being helpless, and at the moment crouched in the shadows with just a shuttle separating her from the Caitian she felt pretty helpless. There had to be something she could do.

Could you flood the bay with Anaesthetisine or something. Quickly=/\= Tiberian looked up fro mthe console he was leaning on, panic clearly evident in his face. He and Martinez exchanged looks, the present situation being suddenly reminiscient of events a few months previously on Starbase Bellicose. "Please tell me I just hallucinated that" Tiberian asked, almost on the point of pleading with the Sergeant Major, who just shook his head. "Oh I wish you were sir. Can't we do what she jsut suggested and flood the bay with anaesthetisine gas?" "I don't want to risk it" Tiberian responded, shaking his head as he strove rapidly for an idea "There are different tissue perfusion and absorbancy rates for different species. If the cat has a higher metabolic rate, then all the humans would start collapsing around it first. That might just give the game away, and he might start losing it with the phaser" "So what are your orders?" Tiberian thought for a minute, weighing all the (seemingly deficient) pros and (the multitude of) cons. =/\=Wong to all on duty marine personnel, we have an intruder code two in shuttlebay one, I repeat, a hostage situation in shuttlebay one. All personnel report to your squad leaders. Alpha squad will secure the main entrance, Beta squad will secure the upper gantry, Gamma squad will secure the jeffries tube acces points. All remaining squads will disperse themselves around the immediate area. Grab rifles and be down there in two minutes=/\= "Jose" he turned to Martinez "Go to transporter room one and m onitor all internal transporter traffic, if he attempts a beam out, redirect him to the brig, and then try and get a mass lock on all our personnel inside. On my signal, beam them out, anywhere" He drew his phaser, and with the Sergeant major entered the tutrbolift, both of them adjusting their weapons to a heavy stun setting. =/\=Wong to Commander Davis and Captain Cir'Kem. Nika was informed by sickbay that their patient had discharged himself, but that wasn't anywhere near a major problem—although she did need to find him and get him some quarters—so Nika didn't react immediately to it. Apparently she should have, because the next thing she knew M'Qess had been stunned by Sharp.
=/\=Wong to Commander Davis and Captain Cir'Kem. Sirs, I have teams moving into positions to secure the shuttlebay now sir, but as a counsellor and the Captain, I thought you might like to start off with hostage negotiations, sirs=/\=
Nika ran to Cargo Bay 1, because she couldn't trust that the transporters would actually be faster. She arrived to find M'Qess pointing a phaser on an engineer, with Sharp looking like he was going to shoot anyway. She'd received messages on her way down, and as many updates on the situation as people who thought they could help.
She paused outside the door to the cargo bay, because she didn't want to be shot upon entering, and then shrugged and entered after announcing it was her. “Everyone drop your phasers,” she ordered. “Now.”
She glared at Sharp until he did so, and M'Qess was rather fast to drop his as well, once he was no longer under direct threat of attack. Which meant... Nika still needed to defuse the situation, and separate her CTSO from the scientist. “Commander Sharp, could you please write up a report of what just happened here and deliver it to me?”
She glanced at the engineer the Caitian had been holding captive, who looked like he was recovering relatively fast from having a phaser trained on him. So Nika softened her voice as she turned to M'Qess. “Walk with me?” she asked, and turned to leave, hoping he wasn't too angry as to not follow.
Once they were in the hallway, Nika spoke again: “I'm terribly sorry for whatever part my officers had in that entanglement. However, I'm still not sure what happened, so if you wouldn't mind explaining the situation to me, I'd take it as a kindness?”

Andae was busy at work in a Jefferies Tube, and was having to be careful not to bash his elbows in Ensign Bligh's face as he fiddled with a circuit. Actually, it wasn't that cramped in the Tube, in fact the space allowed for two people to crawl abreast of each other. "You know if we can't get this fixed Bligh, we're not going to make much progress elsewhere."
"I know, sir." Bligh replied somewhat tiredly.
The two engineers had reached what could be described as a dead-end. They had been trying to work their way out from the core to the surrounding power systems of the ship. Blakus stopped trying to mend the circuit and pulled back from the tunnel wall, trying to take a moment just to assess the situation. His thought was soon interrupted by the awful crackling of his commbadge, communication using commbadges was more difficult when one of them was in an insulated part of the ship.
=/\=Wong to Commander Blakus,=/\= came the crackling voice over the CEO's commbadge, =/\=Get all of your people out of engineering and into EVA suits.=/\=
"What the hell..?" Blakus muttered. Immediately and irritatedly he hit his own badge, =/\=Blakus here, why.. what's going on Colonel?=/\=
=/\=I'm going to flood engineering with anaesthizine gas. That should disable all the tribbles until you can get them out of the hardware. I'll have some men set up a secure field in cargobay 2 that you can dump them all into.=/\=
God damn.. What the hell is Wong doing this for?? Blakus shook his head, he was not at all happy about being forced out of his own Engine room on a marine's whim. Roughly reaffixing the panel to conceal the circuit he'd been trying to mend, and picking up his maintenance kit, Blakus turned to face the Tube's exit. "Let's get out of here then," Blakus said to Bligh over his shoulder and scowled, before crawling as fast as he could back out of the Jefferies' Tube.
Still muttering curses, Blakus popped out of the exit hatch and walk-ran across the small room to the ladder, barely looking at Mattheson's team as he coerced them out. "Come on, Mattheson! Pick up your stuff we're getting out of here.." he said. "Leave them," he added, referring to the Tribbles littered over the floor.
=/\=Oh and Commander, when you're done could you meet me in science lab one, I have something to discuss with you=/\= It was Wong again.
=/\=Yes, it would be my pleasure.=/\= Blakus didn't refrain from lacing every word with sarcasm. Whether or not Wong would pick up on it, was another matter. Of course he intended to do as Wong requested, but it didn't mean he had to be happy about it. The disgruntled CEO just managed to spread the word to the whole of Main Engineering and get them evacuated on time. Blakus was soon gathered outside the doors of engineering with a couple dozen brown-vested officers and crewmen. He quickly looked the ragged bunch over, "No one's got any Tribbles with them have they?" he murmured.
=/\=Wong to engineering, I'm going to release the gas in two minutes. Confirm your readiness=/\=
Blakus tapped his badge and looked into nothingness, =/\=We're ready here. You're free to execute, Colonel.=/\=
<Tag Wong>
Twenty minutes later Blakus's team were donning EVA suits. Blakus was briefing Mattheson, "Remember Lieutenant, continously scan for Tribbles. They may still be able to reproduce, or some may have been shielded from the gas, you never know. We have to get them all.=/\= Mattheson nodded. Blakus helped him seal the helmet he was just putting on, and then activated the man's oxygen supply.
Blakus and the rest of the unsuited engineers stepped through a door in the corridor, the reason being that the area around the entrance to Engineering would soon be flooded with anaesthizine gas. Activating a monitor screen in the adjacent corridor, Blakus watched as Mattheson opened the door to engineering. All was dark beyond the door, it was like looking into a cave as a young boy and being afraid to go in. The invisible, toxic gas must have been diffusing out into the hallway, incapacitating most exposed organic lifeforms on the way. Mattheson and the dozen other engineers in EVA suits slowly entered. The lights of their suits provided the only illumination and were all Blakus could see just before the bulky forms were eclipsed from his view, by the closing of the entrance door. Blakus sighed and smiled at his fellow engineers gathered in the hallway with him. Now only time would tell if Mattheson and his team would be successful in removing the Tribbles.
But now, he had to meet with Colonel Wong in the science lab, for whatever reason. He had better things to do really. One, the obvious one, put on an EVA suit and help his engineering colleagues. Or two, head to the shuttlebay, where apparently there was or had been an escalating situation with their Caitian friend, whom Blakus had not yet even seen. The CEO wanted to make sure his engineer was alright.
The Chief Engineer was mildly bemused at why it seemed to be so quiet around the area of the science labs. Usually, there would be at least a few blue/green uniformed scientists milling about, running around proclaiming exciting things about their experiments. Where is everyone...? he thought. Shrugging to himself, Blakus stood up to the science lab door and was confused at why it didn't immediately swish open. He frowned and pressed the button on the door control panel... it opened this time. Stepping in, Blakus found himself having to search for Colonel Wong. No luck, the SMO wasn't there. Impatient, Blakus checked the chronometer on the wall. After waiting a minute.. "Computer locate Colonel Wong."
~ Colonel Wong is in Shuttlebay One ~
What's he doing there! he screamed inside. Maybe he forgot.. Blakus supposed it wasn't that unlikely, but not knowing how reliable the ship's SMO was with keeping appointments he still felt left in the dark.
From behind him, Blakus heard the door slide open with it's customary swish. At last!
"Sorry I'm late Colonel..," said a female voice, "Oh. What are you doing here?"
Blakus stood frozen in complete bewilderment. "Er, Christina, hello," he said to her. It was Ensign Taylor, inexplicably. "I'm waiting for Colonel Wong to arrive, we were meant to be meeting in here about ten minutes ago..." Blakus glared at the wall chronometer, almost expecting it to give him the explanation of what the hell was going on.
"Um, I'm here to meet with the Colonel as well," replied the Ensign. It soon started to dawn on both of them what was going on.
Blakus was by now quite angry, How did he know? He couldn't contain his annoyance, the whole episode had been a total charade. Everything that had gone on over the last half hour to forty minutes in Blakus's life had been of Wong's design, whether the various parts had been well intentioned or not. The CEO took a deep breath,
=/\=WONG!!!=/\=
Christina Taylor looked at Blakus with an expression of amusement. Blakus found himself smiling back. There, now he felt much better.
