The Raven finally made her way back to the natural plane of the Universe. The plane that all planets, star bases, and Star ship's too remained on.
"Anything ?" Carl asked, watching a vague outline of what had to be the Vackall mother-ship on the still 'fuzzy' screen, "Can't we clear that up any ?" he finished, in frustration.
"I'm trying Captain." the Duty Navigation Officer said, as the screen suddenly sprang into pin-point clarity.
"Well done Ensign." Torek said.
"Wasn't me Sir. Engineering must have got the repairs fixed. I'm getting navigational sensors back too now."
"All sensors are coming on-line Captain." Marcus said, tapping his panel to set up the required data, "Still minimal Comms, but at least we can avoid a collision."
"There's the Vesuvius ... Twenty one thousand meters to Port, the Challenger is directly astern and making for the Vackall mother-ship." the Helm Officer said.
Carl frowned, 'Why would Challenger be heading 'toward' the Vackall' he thought. But with almost zero Comms, it was impossible to guess.
"Move us to one thousand meters off the Vesuvius." Carl said, "If need be we'll signal them using old fashioned Morse code."
Several people on the Bridge frowned as the Captain mentioned the ancient code, but nevertheless agreed it would work. But as Raven neared the Commodores ship, they began to receive Comm chatter... Sonak was making a deal with the Vackall, and from what Carl could make out in the interference, it seemed the Challengers' Captain was missing.
He sat in silence, frustrated at the delay in getting answers ..........

The Vulcan fixed her operations chief with a pointed stare as she walked back onto the bridge. "You mean that rebel that claimed the large fleet was our enemy, that Joq'tel?" Of course he meant that one, who else? "Is he still aboard?"
At the same time, she heard Parsons curse under her breath at the report of an unauthorised transport. "Who?" she demanded. Her expression turned to non-existent as she gazed at what remained of their main viewscreen. "Do we have Challenger on any sensors yet?"
"Yes ma'am," Thorad reported from auxiliary control, "I have them. And engineering reports we have transporters. Additionally, the beam out did not originate from this ship."
Of course it didn't. And she knew who had been transported out. "Captain Kirk, Doctor Saryn and his daughter," she suddenly said, "they were the transport, along with Joq'tel. Doctor Tintagel reported something like that." And of course there was no means to get them back. "Transport whateve belongings they have to Challenger," she ordered, fixing Kirk with another stare.
Then she turned to Parsons. "Their demand, we will consider it. Where is Raven?" That question too was answered by Thorad, even before his own chief could respond. The Andorian seemed nervous but at the same time relieved.
"Right off our port bow," he reported, "shall I hail them?"
"Why have you not yet?" Sonak retorted, quickly losing her patience. "Audio only, of course." She continued at Thorad's nod. "Captain Torek, could you not have issued us a warning? Your stunt nearly got us killed! As it is, we may have a means to get home, but it is at a price. We may have to consider it, but we have a problem. Captain Kirk and his doctor have been kidnapped by the rebels, and Challenger may want to go after them. Vesuvius is in no condition to do so, and we are in no condition to remain here. We will possibly accept the Vackall proposal, but I need to know your stance on this."
She looked sideways at Parsons, daring him to speak up and tell her off. She wanted a first officer who would dare, but since she didn't know Parsons at all, she didn't know how exactly he would respond.

Marcus heard the idea to use Morse code and thought it could work. Marcus was still working on getting power to the comm system but the command pathways were blocked.
Marcus was about to tell Ensign Hart about something when she said in surprise." I have the comm system up and running." Marcus turned to her. "How? Are you sure? Run a system check." Marcus was kinda shocked at this because he he was still rerouting power to the comm system.
Mary work at the console and frowned "Sorry sir. i had it but lost the power flow." Marcus looked at her. "It's ok it happens from time to time just keep working at it."

"I'm not sure but I know that the Challenger captain is no longer on board," Paikea said as he began to scan sickbay again," I'm afraid that Illito is the only one in sickbay. Commander Apariana to security team one report to sickbay on the double."
Paikea wanted to make sure that his friend of many years was alive and well, but his place was on the bridge where things were surely to get a lot worse. From what he knew of the situation, the rebel fleet was demanding high yield Federation weapons. If the Vesuvius provided them with weapons, there was no telling what they could do.
We will possibly accept the Vackall proposal, but I need to know your stance on this."
Paikea was hoping that Adam would speak up immediately but he understood his position. He had just been made first officer and it was his job to support the captain. Paikea on the other hand felt differently. They were Federation citizens sword to hold up the values that many had already died for.
"Commodore if you do this you will be possibily condemming millions of people to death," Paikea said breaking the silence," you would help commit mass murder and I will not be a part of that."

"And if I do not, I will condemn this crew to death," the Vulcan retorted coldly, "Commander Parsons, arrange for the transfer of the torpedoes. The condition of the deal is that they will look after the Challenger, as no doubt they shall want to look for their missing crew. We are in no condition to remain here, we must leave. At once."
She saw the Human hesitate. "That was an order commander," she added, equally cold.
"They will never agree to that!" Paikea responded angrily," this crew will never sacrifice the lives of millions for a quick way home, Commodore. I haven't been here more than a day but I know that all of these men and women have sworn to uphold the law. If you do this Commodore, I'll have to place you under arrest."
"In which case you should place yourself under arrest, as you will be disobeying a direct order, commander Apirana. You are new here to this crew, you do not know what we have been through before your arrival. This way out is currently my best available option and will save the most lives. If we remain, we will be destroyed." She stared at the Vulcan/Trill officer before her. "Disobey me and I shall have you court martialed." Her voice was never raised and never changed pitch, it was just as devoid of emotion, as it had been before.
"You may threatened me with a court martial, but that will not do you any good," Paikea spat at the cold Vulcan," the law is on my side. We might be forced to carry out your order, but you will forever lose the respect of this crew when they find out what you are going to do."
"You say that now, but you do not know me or my crew Mr Apirana, so kindly keep your arguments to yourself. As the regulations show, I am bound to do what is best for my crew with the minimum amount of casualties. As such, I am authorised to organise this trade. They will protect Challenger, while they search for their missing crew, and we will go home to our own time. We cannot interefere with Challenger, nor with this current war. We have done enough damage by just being here."
"This situation doesn't fall under that regulation, Captain!" Paikea said surprised that the Vulcan was trying to use logic in this situation," Regulation 3, paraghraph 12 doesn't cover mass murder. You would also be breaking the Prime Directive, something you swore to uphold. Now that the Vesuvius is no longer tactically superior to the Raven, command of this fleet can be transferred to Captain Torek."
"Negative commander." She gazed around the bridge, meeting each and every crewmember's gaze, before settling back on Apirana. "We were never tactically superior to Raven, but I am the most senior in rank. As such, my orders stand. Carry them out, or remove yourself from duty. I will think no less of you if you do."
Paikea knew that it was pointless to go on. Sonak Reckus was going to make the next move. ~If you do this I will arrest you~ Paikea said directing his thoughts to the Vulcan.
If possible, her expression grew even more blank, though her eyes betrayed what she felt. She caught the telepathic thought that was directed at her. ~so be it~ she challenged silently, then turned her back on the security chief.
OOC: This modification has been authorized by Commodore Reckus, who by tommorrow might be stuck in the brig ;D
we'll see about that!tony I'll get your tag tomorrow.

Jonathan listened to the heated back and forth conversation going on about the possibility of leaving Challenger behind. This was not the first time and strangely the former Borg drone knew it would not be the last thing he had to deal with the issue of time travel and the paradoxical consequences that come with the territory. What he had on his side was history, their history, and from a quick read it still appeared in tact.
“If I may interject,” The OPS officer spoke up in a strong yet nearly monotone voice, “Our history tells of this event through personal logs, and data records of the time. Although nothing is said about the Andromeda Galaxy, there is a reference to the Challenger going missing for a period of time, but she does come back. If this alien race can control this being and they do in fact use it to make their way through space I need to stress that we need to take this opportunity to get back to our place in time. It is not like we are just 75 years away from Earth, we are millions of years away from Earth, and not only that but we are displaced in time as well. Commodore, I am officially supporting you decision and will defend your actions in a trial if it comes to that.”

McLean had spent the better part of the house putting Vanessa down for bed. She had fought sleep the entire time and after reading through her favorite story twice the young McLean had finally given into exhaustion. Scott gently kissed his daughter on her small forehead and walked back to her door, turning one last time to look upon her in the dim light.
Through out the ship power was being restored and sensors were coming back online. As he walked he felt overwhelmingly proud of his engineers for working so hard and so quickly in the face of adversity. He was sure it had nothing to do with him, but he knew he was going to have to thank each engineer personally for their excellent work.
There was one place the Chief Engineer had to visit first, and that was the bridge. He owed Carl Torek big, and not for simply visiting Vanessa, but for showing him what was really important in life.
“Captain.” McLean stated in a half formal half casual manner to get Carl’s attention.
“Scott,” Torek replied as he turned to look upon the ragged Chief Engineer, “Please sit down.”
The gesture was the open door McLean was looking for so he could have a more personal conversation, “How is Vanessa doing?” Carl’s question was packed with concern.
“She’s doing fine,” McLean could feel the tears forming in the back of his eyes as he relived those touching moments in his mind, “I want to thank you for checking in on her.”
“It was my pleasure Scott.” Torek said quickly.
”And for showing me what’s really important in life.” McLean held out his and Carl was quick to grasp it in a firm shake, “Thank you Carl.”
“You’re welcome Scott.”
McLean then changed the topic. As much as there was a part of him that wanted to continue to connect personally with his Captain he still had a job to do and the ship was far from being safe at home, “I’ll be in Main Engineering if you need me.”
Torek nodded after releasing McLean hand, letting the Chief Engineer get up and back to work, “It’s good to have you back Commander.” Torek said loud enough for the entire bridge to hear.
“It’s good to be back sir.” McLean replied before leaving the bridge.

*Traks turned to the Officer in command of the Challenger; * " We have done much for you as we can I need to get my people back to the Raven. Your cloaking device should work just fine on all enemies except maybe Klingons but if they do pick you up they will think you are a Raptor. "
*With that Traks activated his commbadge and walked to the turbo lift. * "Traks to away team report to the shuttle we are returning to the Raven"
*Traks was the last to make it to the shuttle where he was meat by the Challengers MACO commander.*
"Good Luck Colonel and thanks I am sorry for mistrusting you. You are and honorable man and not everyone has the guts to stand up to their convections." Said James:
Traks Replied: " I don't know about that but I can not let anyone suffer if I can help it. Now I need to get back to my ship and crew. Good luck and I hope you too find your way back"
*As Traks shut the hatch; James closed the airlock and released the magnetic locks. He thought to himself I wonder how much he knows about me? Then James headed to the Bridge.

Carl felt as if something was going right for the first time in a good while, as he spoke to Scott. His concern for both the Engineer, and his Daughter was genuine ..
"...... And for showing me what’s really important in life." McLean held out his hand, and Carl was quick to return the handshake, "Thank you Carl."
"You’re more than welcome Scott." Carl replied, releasing McLean's hand as he began to rise.
"I'll be in Main Engineering if you need me .. It's good to be back Sir."
"It's good to have you back Commander." Torek said, making sure the Bridge heard the comment.
Moments later they were positioned off the Vesuvius' Port Quarter, and he was waiting to hear when Comms finally got restored when Marcus spoke.
"Sir. We have Comms. We're getting an audio only from the Vesuvius. Commodore Reckus." Carl nodded for the Comm to be opened, and instantly regretted the move.
=^= Captain Torek ... Could you not have issued us a warning. Your stunt nearly got us killed! As it is, we may have a means to get home, but it is at a price ... We may have to consider it, but we have a problem. Captain Kirk and his doctor have been kidnapped by the rebels, and Challenger may want to go after them .. Vesuvius is in no condition to do so, and we are in no condition to remain here. We will possibly accept the Vackall proposal of help to return home, but I need to know your stance on this =^=
Carl had stood, a subconscious reaction to being addressed by a Senior Officer, even though the screen remained showing the stars outside, and not the Commodore. He almost had the Comm transfered to his ready room, but decided against it ..
=^= Commodore ... As to my actions regarding the freighter .. I felt I had no choice as the mother ship was on an attack course for our ships .. With all due respect I would have thought my transporting almost seven tonnes of high explosive and then moving away would have informed you of our intent .. Though I do apologize for not formally warning you via Comms but that could have informed the Vackall of my intentions .. Admiral Mc7 is recovering well, but I'm sure, given the circumstances, that Commander McLean would be willing to tack Command until the Admiral is fit .. That is 'IF' you intend to remove me...... =^=
The Comm remained silent, so Sonak was pondering the possibilities, or she was simply dismissing the idea to remove Torek from Command, and was awaiting his views on Challenger. He decided to go ahead ..
=^=...... As for the situation with Challenger. I would say it must be their choice. Personally, I would not hesitate to go after my Commanding Officer, and if the Vackall can get us home, then they can do the same for Challenger when they have recovered their missing people. Given the choice, my crew would prefer to get home, but if you are asking us to remain and help Challenger then I wi ...... =^=
=^= Challenger will remain here alone. That has already been decided 'Captain' but I commend you on your offer to remain behind. I will make arrangements with the Vackall Commander. We will need Raven to tractor Vesuvius through the anomaly .. Sonak out =^=
Carl took his seat in silence for several seconds then turned to Jake.
"Mister Marcus. Please ensure all departments are secured. Contact Engineering and let them know we will be towing the Vesuvius ...."
"Aye Sir." Jake replied, then added, "Sir. Colonel Traks has reported he and his men are back aboard Raven."
"Very well." Carl said as he watched the battered and bruised Vesuvius on screen, hoping that Challenger were successful in their mission to get their crew back. He waited patiently for Sonak's Comm ..........

The Vulcan looked somewhat pleased at receiving Torek's support on her decision and she cast Apirana a pointed look, before acknowledging Commander Kirk's input. "Thank you commander," she answered, "that makes at least two." She turned back to Apirana. "Still intending on arresting me, commander?" she challenged, drawing herself up to her full height of one meter and seventy centimeters.
"Transport a message PADD to Challenger, wishing them good luck in their mission. If we had been able we would have stayed."
She walked over to the science station and rested a hand lightly on Fox' arm. "You have been unusually quiet Fox," she whispered to him, leaning in closer. "Will we make it back in one piece? What is the status of our deflector?"
She watched as her friend set to work. "All hands this is the captain, prepare for transition to our own time and space." She nodded to Kirk. "Open a channel to the Vackall lead vessel." Once the ex-Borg nodded, she sighed once. "Vackall leader, we accept your proposal, on the condition that you continue to protect Challenger, who will be hunting down the rebels with you. Her captain was taken and they will need all the assistance we can get. Captain Torek of the Raven also accepts your proposal, under the same conditions."
She waited for the response, then literally felt one of the entities enveloping her ship. She could see Biers felt it too. "Relax commander," she suggested to the empathic officer, "it is not out to harm us." The counselor had not yet been able to arrange transfer back to the Raven, but Sonak assumed he would as soon as they were home.
Not much later, though the Vulcan had no idea how much time had passed exactly, the two Federation vessels appeared back in their own time and space. Both vessels sported severe battle damage and the Vesuvius was leaving a trail of warp plasma that leaked from one of the nacelles.
"Captain Torek, we are at your mercy for the tow home," Sonak called, "best speed possible to Starbase 47."

The Comm suddenly sprang to life ..
=^= Vackall leader .. We accept your proposal on the condition that you continue to protect Challenger who will be hunting down the rebels with you .. Her captain was taken and they will need all the assistance they can get .. Captain Torek of the Raven also accepts your proposal under the same conditions =^=
Carl 'felt' the ship being enveloped as the Vackall began to prepare themselves for transporting the two vessels.
Time didn't seem to register as the ship's were moved over two point five million light years to their own home galaxy ... As suddenly as the 'anomaly' released them. Carl could still see the Vesuvius on his screen, but the background stars had changed dramatically.
"Check chronometers." Torek ordered.
"Sir ..." the Duty Navigation Officer said hesitantly, "We're less than one hundred thousand meters from our position before we were caught by the anomaly ... I've re-calibrated the ships clock with Star base two seventeen. We've only been gone for six hours ......"
The Bridge was quiet as everyone took in what had just been said. Torek could only wonder in awe at the abilities of the Vackall to get them across such an unthinkable distance, with only a six hour discrepancy ..
"Sir. Vesuvius is hailing us .. Still audio only."
"Open the Comm."
=^= Captain Torek .. We are at your mercy for the tow home .. Best speed possible to Star base forty seven =^=
=^= Stand by Vesuvius =^= Carl replied, then nodded to Commander Jamison.
Seconds later, the Raven had a solid lock with her tractor and began to move forward .. First at full impulse, to ensure both Vesuvius and Raven's structural integrity .. Then happy with the results, he gave the order to jump to Warp four ...
They were on their way home ..........

-Vackall Prime Mother ship-
“High Commander the alien’s have transferred us the much needed torpedoes.”
“Good,” Replies the Vackall High Commander, “Take three of them and have our scientists tear them apart. I want a working replica by the end of the cycle.”
The High Commander sat in his chair looking upon the alien ships. Despite the Vackall’s strict religious practices he himself had always wondered about the possibility of life flourishing outside of their own solar system. Today his curiosity had been had been rewarded in two fold. Firstly he now knew of this other space faring race, but more importantly he now had their technology to continue his failing attack against the renegade Joq’Tel and his rebel fleet.
“Power up the corridor, and open a audio channel to the alien ships.”
“Are we certain they will get back to their own space?” Questioned a lower ranking man to the High Commander’s side.
”The great and powerful Vackall will see them home.”
“Audio channel open High Commander.”
“Alien vessel,” His voice boomed with authority as he stood to conjure up more depth in his voice, “The all powerful being for which we take our name, Vackall will take you home now. We thank you for graciousness and for your dead who have died unknowingly to defend our home world from being overrun by the renegade rebels. May your travel be safe and swift, d’eeps dog!”
-Joq’Tel’s Rebel Fleet Flagship-
“The captain needs medical attention. If you value him as a hostage, you will provide me with the means to tend to him.”
Joq’Tel’s expression was unreadable at first, his side arm still aimed at the wounded Captain, but this eyes firmly planted on the Vulcan he so passionately referred to as Demon. He felt the ship jerk sharply under his feet and he knew that his flagship had just done to light speed, making their escape despite all odds.
“My men will escort you to our medical facilities,” Joq’Tel’s warm voice returned for a moment before turning his attention to Numike, “And find a muzzle for that beast-child. Her fangs are long and sharp so be sure to avoid them.”
“Yes sir.” The surrounding guards said in near unison.
“Do not worry Captain,” Joq’Tel said as he holstered his side arm, “I doubt you will die, and welcome aboard my vessel.”

Will didn't know rather to be worried about what was happening or to be grateful to be finally going home.
When Captain Torek gave the order, Will fired the tractor beam and got a solid lock on the Vesuvius.
"Tractor beam holding, sir.", he announced.
"Very well, Commander. Move us out. Impulse power only."
When the captain was sure things were gonna hold, he gave the order to jump to warp 4.
Feeling the ship surge forward, Will kept a watchful eye on his readouts.
"Warp 4 captain and the tractor beam is still holding strong."

The journey had taken almost four days ... The Raven had been forced to drop out of warp on numerous occasions due to the massive stresses being forced on the Vesuvius. In her current condition, it was paramount that she get home, but also vital that she suffer no more damage that could lead to hull breaches.
So they travel a relatively short distance, drop from warp to check on the structural integrity of the Vesuvius, then do the same thing again and again.
Admiral Mc7_of_9 was now out of Sick-bay, but Doctor MacGregor had made it clear that he not return to work. Not even to 'check up' on how things were going, the Doctor warned .. The penalty, he assured the Admiral, was a return to Sick-bay !
Scott was working wonders in Engineering, ensuring the Raven has power and even finding time to upgrade several systems. He had also, found time to spend with his Daughter .. At both Scott's and Vanessa's request, Carl had been invited, and attended, a late supper on their third night of the trip home.
They had a meal, and afterward Carl sat with Vanessa while Scott insisted on clearing the table. They talked about Earth, home, and eventually, family .. Vanessa got up suddenly, and Carl thought he'd said something to upset the ten year old, but Scott waved silently to re-assure him as his Daughter came running back into the living area. She had a PADD with her, and leaping onto the settee, she began to show Carl a series of pictures. Narrating the content of each picture in turn. Scott, done with cleaning, came to sit down on Vanessa's other side, so she wriggled into a comfy position between the two men and continued.
Carl could see tears welling up in his friends eye's as he looked at the family album, he felt so sorry for both of them, to have lost so much. Scott noticed Carl and nodded silently to say he was fine. he casually wiped the tears without Vanessa knowing and began to talk about the pictures. Carl thought it best to leave the Father and Daughter to reminisce in private ..
"You know Vanessa ..." Carl began, glancing at Scott for a second, "It's almost midnight. I don't know about you, but I need my sleep."
"You don't have to go ... Does he Daddy ?" Vanessa said, feigning a sorrowful pout.
"Carl's right. It's very late and you should be in bed too."
Vanessa put the PADD down, and first standing on the settee, jumped the short distance into Carl's arms. He caught her easily and was taken back by the strength of the hug she gave him. It didn't look as if it was going to come to an end, but she slowly, very slowly, released her grip on his neck, and Carl allowed her to slid to the floor.
"Thank you for the meal Scott, and you too young lady." Carl said, shaking Scott's hand before bowing to his Daughter, who curtsied elegantly in return.
The Father and Daughter walked Carl to the door. Vanessa holding onto Carl's hand tightly. At the door she pulled him down to kiss him gently on the cheek.
"Nite nite Carl ... We'll see you soon won't we ?" Vanessa said.
"Yes sweetheart ... You will." Carl said, kissing her on the forehead, "You will .. Goodnight Scott."
"Goodnight Carl." Scott replied.
Carl stood in silence for a few seconds after the door had closed. Then with the smallest sigh, made his way to his own quarters ..........

"And if I do not, I will condemn this crew to death," the Vulcan retorted coldly, "Commander Parsons, arrange for the transfer of the torpedoes. She saw the Human hesitate. "That was an order commander," she added, equally cold.
"Commodore, I must agree with Commander Apirana. This action would be in direct violation of the Temporal Prime Directive. We can't know the consequences this action will have." Parsons responded.
"Commander, if you don't transfer the weapons, I'll find an officer that will," the Commodore replied calmly. Parsons knew this was not a threat. Vulcans didn't make threats.
A heated exchanged between the Commodore and Commander Apirana then followed.
Commander Kirk jumped in on the side of the Commodore. With the senor staff split, Parsons knew that if he attempted to relieve the Commodore or allowed Pai to place her under arrest there would be a mutiny. Parsons gave Pai a knowing look. "Stand down Commander." He then turned to Sonak. "I am noting my formal protest in the ship's log. I will not have any part of this. You may relieve me at your pleasure."
Rather than relieve Parsons, the Commodore simply ignored him.
A short time later, the Vesuvius and Raven were back where they belonged and Adam assumed the Challenger was too. It was good to be back, even under tow, but Parsons didn't like the price.
