Vebn forced a smile to appear on his lips despite the abject fear he was feeling. The Major was purposefully intimidating him, and doing it well. The Tal Shiar made him shudder at the best of times more so that the rest of the reunificationists had been rounded up by the shadowy organisation.
"Excellent" Vebn replied after Govan stubbornly refused to budge an inch, "I can see you are a dedicated and loyal officer. The Empire has much need for men such as you. I have such need for men like you. This base may seem like a backwater but this region of space - Section 47 administered space is a nexus. I think the galaxy could one day turn on this point"
Govan sat stoically giving no outward sign that he was interested or if he was even listening. The cold eyes just kept boring into the Ambassador.
"I am in need of some one to act as Head of Intelligence and Security in the Embassy here, and you seem perfect. I can pull strings and have the Federation charges dropped and you placed in my care. Of course you may prefer I life in a federation jail. The choice is yours. There is still much that you can do for the Empire." Vebn rose and indicated for the forcefield to be lowered.
He stepped out and looked back, "Last chance..."

Shock seemed too simple a word for what Govan was feeling upon hearing the offer. Already resigned to his eventual fate and determined to end his own life, as suicide had previously been the best possible scenario, the Major had a very difficult time accepting that such a perfect opportunity could in fact be legitimate. Showing no outward emotional response, he regarded the diplomat with suspicion and decided to test the validity of his ability to actually follow through on his words. “I will consider your offer…Ambassador.”
Govan had almost choked on the distasteful title but as a glimmer of hope was just beginning to reassert itself, decided that being polite couldn’t hurt. “You may be unaware of this, but there is another Romulan prisoner who was transferred with me, a nurse. She had nothing to do with…what happened. I would be far more likely to be…persuaded if she was released.”
The Major was careful to keep his tone and expression void of anything that would indicate the request was personal, hoping instead that Vebn would see this as merely a ploy to ascertain his ability to negotiate successfully with the Federation, which it was in part. If Tamir was freed that would not only complete the only task he had left, but would also mean there was a good likelihood that this man could actually free him to serve the Empire once more.
Once his request had been made, Govan casually swung his legs up onto the bench, leaned back with his hands behind his head, and ended up in a less than comfortable reclining position on the hard bench. He appeared completely relaxed but in reality was ready to jump to his feet and defend himself at a moments notice. All he could do now was wait and see if this diplomat was capable of making good on his offer.

The day had passed from morning to mid-day as the stillness of the secluded location seemed to call out of the dreadful news of the D’Beren’s death. The triune elders were all in seclusion fasting and praying for the Debrune people. Ever since the death of the child, the mood of the whole planet sombered in every animal and plant, even the wind seemed to move slower through the trees and over the majestic mountain ranges of the land. It was indeed a time of ruefulness for the Debrune people.
In the temple on this sequestered retreat that was reserved for only the Elders, Ji’Zhan kneeled in fervent prayer for his people and hoping upon hope to see a revelation from the past Elders and maybe even D’Beren himself. But it was of no purpose, the child was truly gone. The spirits were even grieving the loss of such possibility. Searching in every candle-given smoke plume, Ji’Zhan prayed and sought a higher level of meditation for somehow the child must still be with the people he was meant to lead to greatness. However, in every thought in every vision the child was absent. With streams of tears rolling down Ji’Zhan’s face he looked into the eyes of the other Elders as they all three knew that the day that so hoped for was a little farther way.
The three Elders spent much of the next days in meditation and prayer for a new path for their people. The light shown on their efforts as each was assured that the Debrune would become a viable race in this sector and no longer be oppressed by others. Indeed, the promise of the D’Beren’s hope, even though in a different way, had pulled the Elder’s together and did lead to a new path for the Debrune.

ooc: due to lack of information in her bio, I am going to assume Ezdreiana is a joined trill.
T'Val was on duty in sickbay when Ambassador Ezdreiana, under guard of no less than four guards, was beamed into her ward. Fearful of another attack, the Vulcan stepped back but when she realised the guards where here for Ezdreiana, she relaxed. "What happened?" she asked, picking up a tricorder.
"She collapsed," the guard stated, stepping aside to give the doctor some room to work.
"That much is obvious," T'Val retorted, leaning over the unconscious Trill diplomat. "Ezdreiana, can you hear me?" She gently tapped the woman's cheeks, trying to get a response. "Rayna, get me 10cc Cordrazine and 15cc Isoboramine!"
The Romulan nurse came running, carrying two vials and one hypospray. She quickly slapped the cordazine into it and injected it into the Trill's bloodstream, then just as quick tossed the one vial aside and inserted another, and repeated the procedure.
"She is stabilising," T'Val reported, relieve audible in her voice, "move her to another bed." Before Rayna could respond, the four guards bodily lifted and carried her to the designated bed and gently put her down. "That will do," T'Val said in approval then pointed to the door. "Apart from you," she singled out one guard, "I want all of you out of this room. Ezdreiana is unconscious and unarmed. She cannot harm anyone and Lily has now made sure no weapon can be fired in this ward. You are not needed."
The guards started to argue, so T'Val shrugged and walked into the next ward. "Stuart, please tell these Starfleet types that I shall have none of them armed in the civillian and diplomatic wards? They seem to be unwilling to prove that they can follow orders."
Both Mercy's had gone back to work, feeling it was better to stay busy than to dwell on their son's death. In a few days, there would be a funeral, but they still expected a visit from Ji'Zhan regarding procedures and all. "They brought Ezdreiana in," she explained when Stuart didn't seem to get what she was aiming at, "and now four guards are there to watch her. I believe just one is enough, Weapons cannot be fired in my ward, Lily has seen to that, and since Ezdreiana is unarmed, there is little harm she can cause."

Together with Zoilip Magellan returned to the Mercys quarters. Tedak was there again. Thankfully that meant Magellan would only need to tell the story once.
After being admitted and allowed to sit Magellan began.
"I have news. Its not pleasant I m afraid. We have concluded our investigation into the crash. It appears it wasnt an accident. Certain parts of the shuttle had been sabotaged. The components used were quickly identified as Tholian in origin...too quickly. Closer investigation revealed Kriosian involvement. They are part of the..."
"Klingon Empire" Tedak exclaimed in surprise
Magellan nodded, "Thats right. It seems Major Korok hoped to trick the Federation into siding with them in the war. It was his belief that if the Tholians were seen to strike at a federation shuttle we would join with them. He aledges though that he had no idea D'Beren was to be aboard. He only planned..." Magellan paused grimacing "...on killing the pilot."

Her stay in sickbay would be a long and tumultuous one. She was now certain that she had somehow been brainwashed to find Tedak's child. She only needed to look at the T'Val to know that her assumption of their child's death to be true. Ezdreiana had tried to apologize to all that had been affected, but that was no console to the families of those that she had killed. Ezdreiana would not be able to forgive herself, but she was determine to work towards peace.
That goal was put in immediate jeopardy when news trickled down about who exactly destroyed the shuttle that was carrying D'Beren. When she heard this she had to act immediately. The Klingons would hear of this soon enough and she needed to make sure that her allies were not put into a predicament.
"T'Val! T'Val I know I don't have a right to ask a favor of you, but I need you to do something for me," Ezdreiana said looking at the red headed Vulcan. Ezdreiana wasn't sure if she had agreed to help her, but she went on anyway.
"Please contact Mazerk of the House of D'Ghor," Ezdrieana said," his fleet is patrolling the Federation and Klingon border nearest to Section 47 space. Tell him that he needs to retreat back to Assailant and regroup with the small Vulcan fleet that will arrive tomorrow. Please do this for me T'Val, Mazerk is an old friend and his allegiances have always been towards peace with the Federation."

***SBA Hospital***
Two days had gone by since the tragic news. D’Beren’s body was being kept in a small shrine for the moment, until the funeral. They were awaiting Ji’Zhan’s word on when and where. With D’Beren being the Divine Child ~or was he now~ Stuart briefly thought, this was going to be a massive event on Qualinost.
Stuart and T’Val were back at work, knowing that the day passed on quickly and less painful when busy. T’Val called over from the next room. "Stuart, please tell these Starfleet types that I shall have none of them armed in the civillian and diplomatic wards? They seem to be unwilling to prove that they can follow orders."
Stuart came into the room to see what was going on, surprised to see Ezdreiana on the biobed. "They brought Ezdreiana in and now four guards are there to watch her. I believe just one is enough, Weapons cannot be fired in my ward, Lily has seen to that, and since Ezdreiana is unarmed, there is little harm she can cause."
Understanding the situation Stuart needed to revert to a tactic he really didn’t care for when he approached the senior most officer. “Lieutenant, leave one guard with his phaser on stun, and post one outside. The rest are dismissed. That’s an ORDER!”
The lieutenant gave a nod to the other guards. One stayed behind as the other three shuffled through the door. Ezdreiana was in good hands with T’Val at her side. Stuart didn’t need to check on her as he proceeded with his own duties.
***Mercy Quarters***
Their busy workday had ended, but it started to become busy at their home. Tedak had come by to see how T’Val and himself had been doing, and soon after Admiral Lin dropped in to give them the results of the shuttle investigation. It was to no one’s surprise that it had been a political ploy. Stuart was actually happy about the fact that it wasn’t a direct plot of killing D’Beren…just an unfortunate mishap.
