Marine and civilian alike were stunned into silence when Matt spoke the word 'wedding' and they gazed at eachother uncomfortably. "That's moving a little fast commander," Jayden then replied after having recovered enough to find his voice. "Let's see if we can stand eachother enough to share quarters first?"
Finally, Nathan recovered his voice as well, holding out his arms to receive his daughter back. "My quarters are already large enough Matt," he reminded the captain, "I already have family quarters because I have the care of my son. I wouldn't need to move, I'm just asking permission for Jayden to come live with me."
The couple exchanged another look and Jayden nodded in silence. "However should we decide on getting married I'm sure you'd be the first to know," Nathan then promised.
The doctor looked somewhat troubled and Jayden sensed now was not the time to bring it up. He knew that Nathan had been married before and and that he'd been burned. Thus, he understood he wouldn't want to burn himself on the concept so soon again, even if it'd been nearly six years ago. Nathan would get used to the idea he was very certain of that.
Right now, the young marine merely felt overjoyed at seeing some of his affections returned and rewarded. For now, that was enough. "Do we have permission captain?" he asked anxiously. "Or rather, do I have permission to move, as Nathan doesn't need to move."
"I'm afraid that its not totally up to me," Matt said as he grabbed the little girl's tiny hand," since you are a marine Jayden you would need approval from your CO. When I say CO I mean Major Cyle Johnson."
Jayden's expression turned grim; he didn't know what to think of his new boss yet as they'd hardly had the chance to talk so far. "Yes sir," he replied slowly, meeting his captain's eyes. "But do we have yours if Major Johnson grants his?" There was nothing more than he'd like to do than move in with his new lover. Marriage, he knew was just not an option straight away, but he wondered if Nathan would if that was what it took to move in. "May I be dismissed to arrange permission?"
"Of course, you can though you have to promise me that you will not hold it against Major Johnson if he says no," Matt said," he is a career Marine. He is known to follow the rules, but he has broken some in the past. Nathan I want to apologize for what I did a few days ago. I know that you didn't expect this gift, but you are damned lucky man. I hope you know that."
"Thank you sir." Jayden turned on his heels and walked away, closely followed by the chief medical officer, whose face held a slight but happy smile. The first since many, many days. Together, accompanied by Freddy and the baby, they entered the turbolift.
"Dad, who's that?" Freddy finally asked, looking thoroughly confused. "You keep saying daughter...is she my sister?" He had put two and two together but still made little sense of it all.
Nathan ruffled his son's hair, his smile widening as Jayden's arm slipped around his waist, pulling him a little closer. "Yes son, that she is." He held the infant down for the boy to see. "This is your sister Angelique, though when she gets older we'll probably shorten it to Angie. What do you think?" The boy grinned happily, but said nothing.
(Below takes place after Megan's post introducing her sister, and at a time when Cyle is in his office) A little later, the disembarked on the marine deck, in search for Cyle. They found him in his office, going over reports by the look of things. Jayden coughed politely, drawing his chief's attention. "Major Johnson, may I have a word? Rather, may we have a word?"
An uncomfortable silence fell and Jayden shifted nervously. In his stead, Nathan spoke up. "I just requested permission from Captain Reynolds for Lance Corporal Mitchell to move in with me permanently. The captain informed us that Mr Mitchell requires your approval to leave the barracks. I have the room to spare, and I would greatly appreciate your approval."
Now, he too smiled nervously. "It would mean a lot to us both, on a personal level. As you are perhaps aware, Mr Mitchell means a lot to me, and we have been through a few rough spots together. I would like him to remain close to me." He just couldn't get the word 'love' out of his mouth yet, but he knew he would soon enough. For now 'meaning a lot' would have to do and he also knew Jayden was aware of how he felt.
(cyle....pleeeeaaase say yes. please?)

"Understood, sir."
Valad walked out of the Captain's ready room to begin repairs on the ship. ~Let's see. I already asked Lieutenant Quindara to get diagnostics going. I still need to talk to Commander T'ress. We need to get the Jefferson up and running.~ He returned to the ops office to find Lieutenant Quindara hard at work. "How's it going?"
"Repairs are on schedule, and the upgrades are ahead of schedule," Monica reported taking her first break since beginning her shift," we should be finished with most minor damage within the day. The major damage is another story, though Commander T'Ress should know more than I."
~Let's get the damage assessment.~
Valad activated his comm badge. "Tavik to Commander T'ress. Have you assessed the damage to the Jefferson?"
(tag T'ress)
"Alright, I'm on my way down. I'll be in engineering. Let me know if you need me," he told Quindara. Valad hastened to Engineering, excitement for his first assaignment still rushing through his body. He walked in to find several engineers busy at work. He found the commander. "So, what's the damage, Commander?"

"Daddy where are we going? I want to go back home," an astonishingly blond haired toddler asked of his father.
"I want to go back home too," the boy's brown haired twin brother said.
"I already told you boys, we are going to see your uncle," the father sighed as he picked up the younger of the two boys," Kyle please stay at my side. I don't want another incident like we had on Mars."
"Kyle listen to daddy," Alex said trying to imitate his father. Jason Reynolds couldn't help but smile at his sons. They were exactly like his two younger brothers, it was almost spooky. His only regret was that they would never be able to meet his brother Kyle.
"Why are we going to see this uncle. I thought our only uncle was with Grandma," Kyle asked as he approached his father and brother.
"Matthew is my other brother, I know you haven't met him before. He's been very busy and couldn't visit when you were born," Jason explained once again hoping that his children would act like normal three year old toddlers. Jason had always known that his children were going to be special, but he didn't think it would start so early.
"Do I have to hug him daddy?" Alex asked as he motioned for his dad to put him down again.
"No you don't have to hug him, but I know that he loves you two and that he will do everything he can to protect you," Jason said surprised at the question. His boys had the tendency to approach strangers and begin asking them questions. This was the first time that they seemed apprehensive about meeting someone new. "He also has a son. His name is Caleb."
"Can we play with Caleb!" Kyle asked as he face lit up in anticipation," I didn't know I had a cousin. This is going to be so cool."
"Of course you can play with Caleb, though he does have schoolwork to do," Jason said happy at there reaction.
As the trio approached the docking ring, Jason couldn't help but reminisce on his childhood. He knew how wonderful it was to grow up on a starship, but he also knew how dangerous it was going to be. When he lost Angel, he realized that his family was never going to be completely safe. That being said he also knew that he needed a place where his children were going to be safe. Jason Reynolds knew that one of those places was the USS Jefferson.
"Commander can I help you?" the security officer near the docking ring asked.
"Are you Matthew Reynolds?" Kyle asked tugging at the young security officer.
"No, I'm not Captain Reynolds," the security officer said as he tried to politely get Kyle off of him.
"When did that happen?" Jason asked in complete surprise. He had always knew that his brother was ambitious, but he thought that he was years away from command.
"A few days ago, sir," the security officer replied," Is there something I can do for you sir?"
"Yes, I would like to speak to Captain Reynolds," Jason said," I need to congratulate my little brother."
"Little brother?" the security office repeated before realizing that he was speaking to the captain's older brother," Of course sir, just follow the docking ring to the lift."
"Thank you Ensign, I'll make sure to tell Matt how helpful you were," Jason said as he moved his sons along.
"Thank you sir," the security officer said with an excited smile.
"Come on guys," Jason said as he took his son's hands and walked inside the Jefferson. He had been on a Sovereign class ship before, but they always impressed him.
"Daddy why did you lie to that man?" Alex asked.
"I didn't lie to him, Alex, you know that I don't like lying," Jason said surprised that his son thought he had just been lying.
"Yes you did. You told him that he was helpful, Daddy. He was not helpful," Kyle said apparently agreeing with brother.
"Are you Matthew?" Alex asked as a repair team approached them.
"No, cutie, I'm not the captain," the crewman said to Alex before realizing that Jason and Kyle where there.
"You have two beautiful boys, Commander," another crewman said as she stopped to look at boys.
"Thank you, they are a handful though," Jason said with a chuckle. It seemed that wherever they went, his children were an attraction. "Can you please point me to the turbo lift?"
"It's over there sir," the crewman said pointing to the door to the right of them.
"Thank you," Jason said as he took the boys by the hand and quickly entered the bridge. The crew of the Jefferson would get to know his children, but he wanted his brother to know them first. "Bridge"
"Where is Uncle Matthew?" Kyle asked already getting bored with the lift ride.
"Patience Kyle, we'll meet him in a few seconds," Jason said seconds before the doors opened and they entered the bridge.
"No way, I don't believe it!" Monica said recognizing Jason immediately," when did you arrive?"
"A few minutes ago," Jason said as he gave Monica a big hug. They had never met personally, but they had spoken via subspace," Where is he?"
"He's in his ready room," Monica said as she cooed over the boys," they are adorable. They will be just as handsome as their father."
"There is no reason to be suck up to me, Monica," Jason said with a laugh," I won't become a captain anytime soon."
"I'll tell him you are here," Monica said as she pinched Kyle's cheek.
"No! I want to surprise him," Jason said as he once again grabbed his son's hands and led them to his brother's office. He tried to make his children a bit more presentable and once he was done he asked for admittance.
"Hey little brother....."

"She's dressed wrong Mr T'Ress," he pointed out, though the feline's response was rather lost on him. "What is this place?"
“This is the USS Fading Sun, Constellation Class. The year is 2293. Have you ever been in the holodeck previously? This is place where light photons, coupled with force fields, can replicate real matter. Oh, its never as good as the real thing, murr, but it is as best as one can expect. Imagine the replicator on a grand scale. Oh, murr, we can even eat the food here if you wish.”
The Vulcan turned to her, “Sir, this is illogical. You should not bring a boy aboard the bridge of a Federation Starship.”
“I fail to see the issue, Merrow.”
“There is a serious issue. Danger lurks here.”
“That…computer, delete personality.”
=^= Acknowledged =^=
The feline nodded, “Now we can avoid interaction with the crew. I can always edit that back in later, or reload the program, murr.”
“These uniforms…they were in service at the time. Have you never seen a picture purrrhaps? Murr..”
Throughout the conversion he was careful to speak slowly and face the boy so that he might understand him, despite his lack of hearing.
Recent
“Commander T'Ress, would you please report to sickbay? It is somewhat urgent.”
The feline tapped his combadge, ceasing his current work, “Murr, of course Doctor. I am on my way.” He made his way to a turbolift immediately, requesting the lower deck upon which the sickbay lay. Technically, it was higher than his own deck, being in the engine compartment, however no one besides an obsessive engineer such as himself was going to care about such a detail.
J'Varr, you would do me a great honour if you would accept the responsebility of being my daughter's godfather.”
J’Varr T’Ress purred in response. He initially thought to issue a lecture on the necessity of utilizing emergency calls only in Emergencies. However, he simply grinned, fangly. “Of course, of course I will be her Godfather.”
||||
"Tavik to Commander T'ress. Have you assessed the damage to the Jefferson?"
He tapped his combadge, =^= Murr, I have. If you could join me in engineering, I’d be obliged. =^=
He did, soon, however find himself face to face with the other.
"So, what's the damage, Commander?"
“Murr, what I am mostly concerned with at the moment is damage to the nacelle units that have been incurred via shock to the main super structural frame of the vessel. Remember, merrow, there was a lot of combat on the bridge, and when that happens, plasma conduits over flow and the backup ends in the nacelle units. That being said, murr, we are almost all cleaned up on the bridge.”

ooc oh boy, what to say....
IC:
Shrugging, Megan replied. “I’m the first officer now, so I have to be familiar with the rosters and duty shifts.” Her intent wasn’t to brag but merely to state the facts, but the Commander was a little on edge. This would be far more difficult than the first phase. “Major, I have an…unusual request for you. This is my personal shuttle, the Sommers, which just arrived from…Earth. I have already spoken with shuttlebay personnel to keep it off the maintenance and repair rotation, but it’s…well a little bit sensitive, and I’d really like to make sure that it remains relatively undisturbed.”
Pushing a non-existent strand of hair behind her ear, Megan continued. “I have a somewhat personal favor to ask of you. I know there are always at least one or two Marines stationed in this bay working on some of the fighters, and I was hoping that perhaps you could speak with them, not really on an official basis or anything, but just…ask them to sort of keep an eye out? I’m not talking about an actual guard shift or anything like that, but just sort of watching to make sure no one…bothers it.”
“I realize it’s…weird, but I would really appreciate it if you could speak with them as soon as possible. I just…want to make sure it’s kept safe, and it would really mean a lot to me to know that someone’s always here making sure no one decides to mess with it…” Commander Garrett reiterated quickly, glancing a little nervously at the small group of Marines working across the bay. She knew she was probably just being paranoid and overly cautious, but it was important to her, and she hoped that Cyle would understand and go speak with his men. It’d make her feel better.
"I'll keep an eye on your ship, but you have to tell me the truth about it. If you dont tell me, I'll find out on my own"
“Thank you,” Megan breathed, feeling a tremendous weight lifted off her shoulders. “I’ll wait here while you talk to them. I really, really do appreciate it. Thank you.”
Cyle nodded to himself and turned away to talk with the marines who were working on the fighters. The marine cleared his throat to get the attention of the younger marines, who looked up and placed their tools on the ground for a moment. "The first officer would like you to keep an eye on his new shuttle. Nothing major, not like a gaurd shift or anything just make sure no one plays with it without my permission" With a smart salute the marines went back to work and Cyle turned back to Commander Garrett, who had an aquantance at her side.
Ignoring her sister for a moment, or at least trying to, Commander Garrett kept to business first. “Is the situation we discussed earlier arranged, Major?” she asked, attempting not to realize that her sister was practically ogling the senior Marine.
"It taken care off, just remember what I said"
“Thank you, Major. I appreciate your assistance and your discretion regarding this matter,” Megan replied, even as Marina cleared her throat, clearing hinting for an introduction. With a sigh, Commander Garrett reluctantly complied with her sister’s unspoken request. “Mr. Johnson, I would like to introduce you to my sister, Marina Garrett. She just graduated from the Academy recently and is here to visit me. Marina, this is Major Cyle Johnson, the Senior Marine aboard the Jefferson.”
Fluttering her eyelashes at him, Marina smiled coyly at him and extended her slim hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Cyle. You know I was just telling Meg that this is a beautiful ship, but it’s so big… I was hoping to get a tour, but my sister is just so busy, being the first officer now and everything. Would you happen to know someone who could show me around the ship? If so I would be very appreciative.”
Cyle took the womans hand in a shake before speaking"I think i could find you an escort. ^Major Johnson to Lt. Elkins, please report to the secondary shuttle bay for escort^. Elkins should be here shortly, he will be glad to show you around." Cyle nodded to Megan and stepped to the side, noticing the slim smile on his First officers face.
Making his way back to his office, Cyle knew he had some reports to look through, and was in a slight hurry to get them done. Finally taking a seat he took a breath and started working slowly on the reports on his desk.
A little later, the disembarked on the marine deck, in search for Cyle.
Cyle sat looking at the doctor and Lance Corporal Mitchell for a moment before taking in a breath and answering. "I have no problem with who lives with whom, so long as you show up to work at the time of your shift, and leave your relationship at home"

"I think I could find you an escort,” Cyle replied, either entirely missing the not so subtly implied hint or simply not interested, Megan wasn’t sure. =/\=Major Johnson to Lt. Elkins, please report to the secondary shuttle bay for escort,=/\= the Marine ordered through his commbadge before turning back to Marina. “Elkins should be here shortly; he will be glad to show you around," Cyle informed an openly stunned younger Garrett, before he nodded in acknowledgement to Megan and left the bay.
Megan tried to keep the smile off her face, but a tiny hint slipped through. She had never seen her sister turned down before and had only even heard of it happening a handful of times. Now as Marina just stood there, still staring after the retreating Major in shock, the First Officer attempted to school her features. “Megan…what just happened…?” the young security officer asked, her voice strangely devoid of any emotion, though the Commander knew her sister well enough to know better.
“Major Johnson is a very busy officer,” Megan replied, trying to soothe her sister’s undoubtedly bruised ego. “I’m sure he had something very important to attend to, after all I did call him down here to help me with something while he was working. I’m sure if he’d had the time, he would have jumped at the chance to give you the tour himself. He’s probably very disappointed right now that he didn’t have the time.”
“He didn’t look disappointed…” Marina murmured, suddenly looking very sad. In spite of her initial amusement and the fact that her sister almost always got what she wanted, Commander Garrett felt sorry for her. Only Megan and their mother really knew that this act that Marina often put on tended to hide her own insecurities.
“He’s a big, tough Marine who hides his true feelings,” Megan commented, trying to dismiss her sister’s concerns. “Besides, remember, Lieutenant Elkins is on his way here to escort you around the ship. I’m sure he’ll be quite glad that Cyle was too busy to get the chance, and he’ll have his boss completely jealous he couldn’t.”
Starting to cheer up, Marina glanced over at her sister. “Is he cute?” she asked.
“Uh...” Megan hesitated. She didn’t exactly categorize all the male members of the crew into ‘cute’ and ‘not-cute.’ “I’m not sure,” she replied honestly. “They’re all my subordinates, so I don’t really notice whether they’re cute or not most of the time.”
Shaking her head, Marina was beginning to smile again. “You’re crazy. You need help you know… How many times have I told you? You have to immediately size up any available, and sometimes unavailable, men in your vicinity, so that you are already prepared to give them an answer when they ask you out! Otherwise, you could get stuck on a date with some mediocre looking guy, or worse. You should already know exactly what you will say to them when they ask you out before you are even introduced. And you say you’re an expert at always being prepared…”
“So you’ve told me...” Megan replied wryly. “But remember, almost every guy here is my subordinate. A relationship with them would be inappropriate, and besides, they would never ask the First Officer out. I’m supposed to be approachable, but not THAT approachable, and I would of course politely decline any invitation as it is.”
With a sigh, Marina continued shaking her head. “You’re no fun, Megan. You need to loosen up. You’re also too pessimistic. Instead of thinking they wouldn’t ask you out because you’re the first officer, you should be thinking that they all want to ask you out because you’re the first officer. And, if you asked them out, they’d have to say yes!” Grinning at her older sister, who rolled her eyes, Marina tilted her head to the side. “And what did you mean by almost every guy? Who are the exceptions?”
Rolling her eyes again, Megan replied, “The only exception is Captain Reynolds, and I’m HIS subordinate.” At the suddenly excited look on her sister’s face, she hastened to add, “The Captain is already in a relationship, so that’s not an option.”
“Oh,” Marina replied clearly disappointed before her face brightened again. “Well wait, how did he get around the dating a subordinate issue, hm? And is he actually married or just dating? Because, although I would never date a guy who was still attached, just because they’re taken one day doesn’t mean they will be the next.”
Glaring at her sister, Megan responded. “He’s been dating her for years, and their relationship pre-dates him being her superior. Besides, I’ve told you over and over again that I’m not looking for a relationship, nor am I interested in one. I’m just…”
“...Focused on your career...I know…” Marina supplied, this time being the one to roll her eyes. “Seriously Meg, you need to get out more, have some fun. Life isn’t all work and duty and doing what...oooo...if that’s Lieutenant whoever he IS cute...”
Smirking slightly, Megan whispered, “Lieutenant Elkins...” to her sister, who was now sizing up the approaching officer. “But just be nice and behave yourself,” she added before smiling at the unsuspecting Lieutenant and beginning introductions.

It took less than an hour for Jayden to move what little belongings he had from the marine barracks to Nathan's quarters. The young marine still couldn't believe this was happening, so soon after they had met and actually started to get comfortable with eachother's company. Though he still wasn't too sure how the doctor felt about him, he knew his own feelings to be true, and he had to follow his heart.
Having settled the baby into a crib, Nathan told his son to stay with his sister while he helped put Jayden's belongings away. When he walked back into the livingroom from the bedroom, he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. "Dad?" he called in utter amazement. A smile spread onto his face as he raced forward, taking the old man into an embrace. "Dad! What are you doing here, when did you arrive?"
Doctor Peter van Breughel regarded his eldest child for a moment, holding his breath when he was embraced. "Nathan please," he murmured, "I'm an old man, have some care hm?" He was quickly released only to be hugged again.
"Grandpa!" Freddy raced forward, replacing his father in the embrace.
The old man ruffled the boy's hair. "He's grown so much since we saw him last," he said softly. He looked up when a fourth person entered the room, then quizzically gazed at his son.
Nathan held out his hand to Jayden, drawing him close. "Dad, I'd like you to meet Jayden Mitchell, my partner." Again, Jayden blinked, but smiled to himself; it was improving already now that he was called partner. "Jayden, this is my father, Doctor Peter van Breughel."
Jayden held out his hand to the old man, seeing the reluctance in his eyes. "Pleasure to meet you sir," he spoke, "I've heard much about you."
Narrowing his eyes, the old doctor gazed at the marine, but then he smiled, clasping the young man's hand in both of his own. "Don't you break my son's heart boy," he said earnestly, "and don't let him break yours."
Nathan beamed, pleased that his father accepted his new partner without argument. He still had painful memories on his lack of acceptance of Paul. "And I guess today is full of surprises dad." He took his father by the hand and led him to the bedroom. Carefully, he lifted the sleeping baby girl from her crib and held her out to the old man. "This is my daughter Angelique, she was born earlier today."
Quietly, he explained to his father how it happened, while the old man doted on the infant, covertly examining her in the ways of his profession as paediatrician. "She's healthy," he reported at long last, then grinned, "but of course you already knew that. I'm glad to see you happy once more son. It's about time. Now, care to show me that ship of yours?"
"I'll stay with the children," Jayden offered immediately, seeing his friend wanted to spend time with his father. He was rewarded with a beaming smile and a loving kiss. Seconds later, father and son departed their quarters to explore the Jefferson.

As Commander T'ress explained their current objectives, Valad made a mental checklist of what he wanted to accomplish. "Alright, I'll take a team of engineers into the starboard nacelle and will get repairs under way. We'll give it a thorough overhaul."
(tag T'ress)
Valad walked around engineering, looking through the different projects in the works and talking to several engineers about the current running of diagnostics. He found a small group that had just finished their current diagnostics and pulled them into his team. They all grabbed tool kits and materials to get repairs underway.
As they crawled through the Jeffries tubes towards the starboard nacelle, one of the team struck up a conversation. "On behalf of the crew, welcome aboard Ensign Tavik. I am Lieutentant Cruse, this is Ensign Duvik, and these are crewmen Uster, Marion, and Lareel." They each nodded at him when they were introduced. "What made you join Starfleet, Ensign?"
~Good guy!~ "Honestly, Mr. Cruse, I wanted to be in a position to affect change in a positive way. I had a dream when I was younger that I was on a ship that had a crew that wasn't just a crew; they were a family. I see that here and I really want to be a part of that." Valad stopped and looked back at Cruse. "Anything I should know about anything?"
Cruse smiled and replied, "I think I'll plead the fifth on that one."
"Well, I guess now I can say i asked. How about you? I'm going out on a limb here, but are you starfleet?"
Cruse laughed, "Sounds like you've been talking to the doctor. Yes I am a Starfleet officer and proud of it. I graduated from the academy about eighteen months ago and served as an Academy instructor's assistant for about fourteen months." He sighed. "As long as I was there, I found that I didn't like it, so I transferred to the Jefferson and have been here ever since. I'm an engineer to the core, I've found out."
They continued on and through the Jeffries tube and with the conversation. As they got closer, Valad started to chat with the others. Ensign Duvik was a young Vulcan male who was an expert chess master. Val Uster was from the San Fransisco area and everything there was to know on 20th century American sports. D'Etora Maron was an attractive Klingon-human woman who was very talkative. Crewman Lareel didn't say much at all other than, "Yes sir" and "No sir."
The group reached the control room and cat-walk of the starboard nacelle. "Alright, I want everyone to each take a section of the nacelle and check the hull for any ruptures or microfractures and repair them. Stay in eyesight of each other and keep a comm channel open. I don't want to lose anyone on my first day," he ordered then added jokingly. The group split off and each took their own section as ordered. Valad began scanning for holes in the hull around the control room. After about two hours, he only found three small openings and quickly fixed them. He hoped the others would not find anything too much larger.
=/\= Maron to Ensign Tavik. I'm near the back of the nacelle and I have a problem. Could you get back here quickly? =/\=
"On my way." Valad hoped it was just a big hole and not something else damaged. He passed by the rest of the team, telling each of them to be on their toes. He made it back to Maron. "What's up?"
She held up a some sort of casing. "It resembles a type II phaser, but its not one of ours. Its all charred as though someone threw it into a fire. My initial scans of it indicate it wasn't burned but in fact cooled."
Valad took out his tri-corder. "I don't recognize its composition. Any ideas?" he asked D 'Etora.
"Nothing. I can't even get a close guess."
"We'll take it back with us and examine it in engineering. Keep up the good work and report back when you've finished."
"Yes, sir."
A few hours passed by and everyone had finished and reported back to the control room. "Any major problems?" Valad asked the team.
"We'll need to send out a repair crews to mend some of the larger ruptures," replied Cruse. "The warp coils need some work though. We went through some rough patches in our last mission. Nothing that another couple of days of work couldn't handle."
"Good," said Valad. "Report back here at your next duty shift to work on the coils. Dismissed and good work today." He smiled. As they left Valad called D 'Etora back. "I'd like you to come with me to engineering and we'll show this new toy to Commander T'ress." She nodded and they made their way back to engineering. They arrived after a short climb and found T'ress working intently.
Valad spoke up. "Commander. We found something at the back of the starboard nacelle that I'd like you to take a look at." He handed T'ress the unit.
(tag T'ress)
"We can't figure out what it's made of. I've never seen it before. And we'll need to take the starboard engine offline so we can make repairs on the warp coils."

In spite of the series of shocks, Megan’s mind was still consumed with thoughts of the decision she needed to make. While becoming a potential godmother and her sister coming to visit, she still viewed her situation as a career oriented woman, and as such, current events did not and should not affect her decision. While working on duty rosters and scheduling shifts, sitting on the bridge monitoring repairs, and even going about her daily business, her thoughts dwelled on her impending choice. Commander Garrett had weighed the options, debated the pros and cons, and even played out potential yet unlikely worst-case and best-case scenarios, but what she decided had unfortunately come down to one complicated factor: what did she want?
With a heavy sigh, the first officer stared at the blank computer screen before her. She had calculated this as the most likely time Admiral LaPage would contact her again, and with a horrible, sinking feeling, she had to admit not knowing what to tell him. Uncertainty was an uncomfortable and unfamiliar emotion for someone who planned as extensively as Megan did and tended to know exactly what she wanted and what would be best in most situations she faced. And now, with something this important and personal, and the Commander was completely stumped on what to do.
Right on schedule, within half an hour of her optimum predicted time, the screen blinked to life, requesting her identification. With a slight smirk, Megan began the process of authorization, as her brain tried desperately to reach some sort of last minute miracle decision. It never came, and as the face of her superior, mentor, and friend appeared on the screen, the Commander managed a tight smile. “Admiral,” she acknowledged, the feeling of uneasiness and uncertainty growing every minute.
Regarding his protégé carefully for a moment, David LaPage replied, “Well based on the look on your face, you’re either going to turn me down or you haven’t made up your mind yet, and it’s driving you crazy.” At the slight scowl she shot his way, his face relaxed slightly. “And based on that look, I’d say it’s the later, which right now I’d take any day.” Laughing at her continued scowl, the Admiral added, “Ok, I’m sorry…if you haven’t been able to decide, you must really be having a difficult time... Maybe if you just talk me through what your thought process is, I can help.”
With a heavy sigh, Megan glanced away. “I don’t know...I’ve taken everything into consideration, and it all comes down to one, simple thing: what do I want? And I don’t know what I want. I’ve know what I wanted my whole life, and now I don’t.”
Smiling gently at the much younger officer, Admiral LaPage leaned closer to the screen. “Hey...it’s ok to not know what you want sometimes. When you’re used to making life and death decisions, right and wrong is a little more clear cut than with just an issue of preference. It’s understandable that easier is sometimes harder.”
Nodding, Commander Garrett glanced up. “I know, but I still don’t enjoy this feeling of uncertainty. I’m not used to it.” Sighing again, Megan continued thinking aloud. “I love my job on the Jefferson. Being a Science Officer and moving up the ranks like my grandmother was exactly what I wanted since I was a little girl. But I also really loved being a Black Ops agent, and what’s more, I was actually good at it.”
“The best,” Admiral LaPage provided, laughing at the glare he got informing him she knew he was trying to sway her decision. “Ok, ok...sorry. I’ll stop influencing.”
Smirking slightly, Megan sighed again. “The problem isn’t whether I would like one job or the other. I know I like them both. The problem is the idea of melding them together, which creates problems on both ends. I don’t know if I want the additional complication in my life and the effect on each position, not to mention my health...”
“Megan, you know how I feel about your health. I never felt it was an issue to begin with, though I understood your concerns. You proved since being on the Jefferson that it doesn’t matter as long as you’re careful. So what it really would influence is a long term, high stress mission, which this arrangement would preclude, and you really weren’t assigned anyway. I’m not saying this means you should take my offer, but I don’t think your health is really a factor anymore, just something to observe.”
Reluctantly, Megan nodded, and as she continued thinking, just happened to miss the tiny, triumphant smile that crossed the Admiral’s face. He’d been trying to get her to admit to that for a very long time. “Let’s try this,” Dave suggested, causing her to glance up again. “Finish this sentence with either officer or agent: I am an...?”
Sighing in frustration, Commander Garrett shook her head. “I can’t do that because I’m both.” It was then, the light dawned. “I’m…both.” Eyes widening in realization, Megan sat there processing for a moment, before looking back up at a very happy looking Admiral. “I’m already both,” she stated again, this time with a slight smile.
Grinning from ear to ear, Admiral LaPage replied, “Welcome back agent 3184628.”

Sighing heavily in an entirely different section of the Jefferson, Marina stared out the window of the upper deck of the Lounge at the stars. The tour with Lieutenant Elkins had been fun, she supposed, but it had been more informational than social. The young security officer had become intrigued with the idea of being an officer on a ship rather than Earth, and throughout the tour her mind had drifted to whether or not this was something she wanted. It wasn’t like the types of positions she had taken before, but it used some of the same skill set, and it was more challenging.
Marina had spent many years now catching criminals in the act of committing petty crimes, most often stealing, and she was quite good at it. But recently, the security officer had been debating whether it came too easily to her and if she might benefit from a real challenging case every once in a while. On the tour, the young Ensign had asked a lot of questions, particularly regarding on ship security issues, duties for those assigned to the brig, and some of the occasional problems that arose. It turned out, being a security officer on a ship wasn’t that far removed from being a security officer in a smaller city or a large shopping center, the later of which had been her past career. Responding to security calls, monitoring sensors, guarding a detention facility...all these were things that she had dealt with numerous times.
Same job, different setting, and different specific incidents, and with the additional opportunity of away teams, direct tactical situations, and more serious investigations and apprehensions, it was looking like an exciting new career. Taking another sip of her drink, Marina was beginning to smile. Yes, this was a great place to start a new, exciting life. Ensign Marina Garrett would apply for a transfer here immediately.

He felt nervous like a cadet again, he wasn't sure why he had served on 2 ships already but missed the scavenger the most she had been his home the longest. He had caught a transport to his new home the Jefferson. He knew his last assignment was only a temp job. They needed a test pilot and he couldn't pass up the chance to fly a new ship. Oh well he thought to himself all good things must end and start again.
He hadn't really thought much about his future but events at home were fast coming to ahead. Sooner or later he would have to vote on weather to join the federation or not. He was a Star Fleet officer but that didn't matter would this benefit his home world was the question. The Transport ship came with in range of the Jefferson and was already transmitting his orders to report. He headed for the transport room and gathered his belongings. Sandy was curled on the floor looking at him. " Its time to go girl you have to get back in you cage I'll let you out when we move in okay." She let him know she didn't like it then again there was very little to like about a cage.
Stepping on to the transport he felt the beam take hold, his next image was the transporter room of the Jefferson. He had to admit he was a little shocked not to see anybody there waiting for him. Then he remembered this was a new ship and he didn't know anybody, that would take some time like always. He shut out his emotions and cleared his mind, he could feel the space around him the gravity wells the energy flowing through unseen currents.
Looking back up at the transport chief, " Could you please see that my things are beamed to my quarters" He left the transport room and headed for the bridge to report in and to see his new home. He arrived on the bridge to see a senior officier in the captians chair and walked down to where she was sitting. " Commander Desert Pride reporting in as your new helm officer, Last assignment test pilot for star Fleet's advance ship designs" <Tag anybody>

“You...what...?” Megan stammered blinking at her sister in shock and positive she had completely misunderstood the announcement that had come out of the blue.
“I applied for an open position here and was accepted! You’re looking at the newest security officer onboard the U.S.S. Jefferson!” Marina practically squealed.
Still completely taken by surprise, Megan just stared for a moment before somewhat blankly replying, “This is...such a surprise...I had no idea you were even considering applying to the Jefferson, or any other ship for that matter…that happened fast...”
“I know! Isn’t that great? Maybe they saw my name, put it together with yours, and assumed we wanted to be assigned together,” the new Ensign exclaimed happily.
Trying to erase all traces of ‘my life has just gotten a whole lot more complicated’ from her face, Commander Garrett finally managed to pull a smile from somewhere. “Wow, this is just so completely and totally unexpected... Congratulations, Marina.”
“Thanks!” the security officer replied, still beaming happily. “My stuff is being sent from Earth, but in the meantime I can manage with what I brought. Oh, I’ll need an actual room assignment, though I wouldn’t mind staying in the guest quarters you got me, since they’re just regular quarters and not VIP or anything. Actually I’d be really grateful if you could let me keep those...I’ve already given my room number out. Oh come on, don’t look at me like that. You do have to let people know where you are to pick you up for dates you know... You should try that by the way, dating I mean, because no one would have any trouble finding the first officer’s quarters! That reminds me…do you have any blue shoes I could borrow, not navy but a…”
As her younger sister chattered on about anything and everything, Megan tried to calm her racing thoughts and answer the battery of questions thrown at her. Life most definitely had gotten a lot more complicated, but luckily Marina tended to get distracted by her own life, so much so that her older sister was often left out of the loop. And that was exactly what the Commander hoped would end up happening.
~
Although still incredibly apprehensive about having her sister on board for a variety of reasons, Megan was beginning to adjust, helped by the fact that since Marina’s announcement, Commander Garrett hadn’t heard a single thing from her or about her. The first officer was desperately hoping that somehow this wouldn’t affect her much at all, though that seemed highly unlikely. Still, there was nothing she could do about it short of somehow getting the young Ensign thrown off, and that would be crossing the line. No, she’d just have to go about her job and hope for the best.
Sitting on the bridge reading the latest updates on the repairs, the turbolift doors opened, and a new officer exited. “Commander Desert Pride, reporting in as your new helm officer, last assignment test pilot for star Fleet's advance ship designs.”
Rising from her chair and turning to face the newcomer, Megan smiled, extending her hand and replying, “Welcome aboard, Commander. Right now, I’m afraid the Jefferson is rather…stationary, but we should be getting underway shortly. In the meantime, feel free to get settled in and familiarize yourself with your new ship. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

"Captain Reynolds, please be advised that the entire fleet has now been placed on high alert," Commander Herman, Matt's assistant on Starbase 47 said.
"Jim what's wrong? Something bad has happened," Matt asked clearly worried at his friend's demeanor.
"Elron was just assassinated a few hours ago," Jim replied almost at a whisper," Commodore Sonak and her crew are being detained for the time being. Section Admiral Nova is furious and everyone here still can't believe this happened."
Matt was earnestly waiting for his friend to tell him that Elron had put him up to it, but no such luck. It seemed that Fleet Admiral Elron, a man that Matt aspired to be like, had been assassinated in cold blood. As Matt processed this information he couldn't help but wonder why Commodore Reckus and her crew were being detained.
"They are our suspects," Jim said already knowing how Matt thought," for the time being stay away from Starbase 47. Your orders will come in shortly and your immediate superior is going to be Commodore Cir'Kem of the Victory. Matt you have to continue on with your duty, we have lost a great leader and friend today, but as a captain you have to continue on with your mission."
"Understood, I'll be expecting our new orders," Matt said before ending the transmission that had brought such terrible news. Elron was a tenured Starfleet officer who had given over half of his life in service to the Federation. Whoever killed him was going to pay.
"Captain, we are receiving transfer orders from Assailant," Monica reported from the bridge," I think you'll be happy."
"Thank you Monica," Matt said saddened that he would not be able to mourn for his friend, but Jim was right when he said that he had to continue with his duty," I'll look over the roster list immediately."
Matt was pleased to see the list of new officers, but was surprised to see the name Marina Garrett on the roster. Marina was the younger sister of his very own first officer, Megan Garrett. The new security officer was being accompanied by the new CTSO. Matt had asked the personal department for two separate officers, but it seemed that this would not be possible. Acting Ensign Yang would take charge of both department and Matt would be there to make this young ensign's life a little bit easier.
"Desert Pride?" Matt asked himself knowing that he had heard that name before. "Computer is this the same Desert Pride that served on the USS Scavenger?"
"Affirmative."
Matt finally remembered where he had heard that name before. His good friend Paikea Apirana had told him of this amazing pilot. It seemed that the Jefferson was now being helmed by the very same amazing pilot.
"Computer, inform every new member of the crew that I would like to speak to them, start by rank in descending order," Matt said as he put down the padd in front of him," start with Commander Pride. Computer send out this message at 1500 hours."
The small beep of the computer told Matt that his order had been received and was ready to be carried out. If only life was that easy, Matt thought as he picked up another report. He had always known that his life would be filled with reports, but he never thought that he would tire of it so quickly.

Looking at Commander Garrett he took her hand shook it. He still didn't understand all of the human customs. He was human but not raised by them so things were still a little strange for him. He had been working hard to discover what it was to be human, at times he felt bad for the human race not realizing what there full potential could be if they could learn to use the power of there minds. Compared to adoptive people he ability's were small but compared to the human race his talents were beyond reason at times
" I will try and make sure I donut crash the ship on my first day, or give the chief engineer a heart attack Commander. I think I'll wait unit day 2 before I start to do any of that need time to settle in" <Tag Garrett>
Walking over to his new station he took the seat for a moment. He started to change the layout of controls. He closed his eyes and reached out into space his sense became like the senors he didn't have there range but he could feel the space around the ship. After making some changes to the lay out he noticed there was a message to report to the captain at 1500 hrs. He hadn't expected to meet the captain so soon so it caught him a little off guard at first.
Logging of the system the controls switched back to there normal position. Looking at the time he realized that he would be seeing the captain in a few Min's. He wasn't sure how it was going to go he knew that Captain Drago was not happy with him that last time they parted. He thought back to the rescue mission to save the crew of the scavenger he was acting first officer at the time and made a call that Drago hated him for. He didn't regret the decision he had to think of the safety of the ship and crew he was responsible for. He knew Drago understood but did not like the call. Maybe he put that down on my service record he thought to himself.
Looking at the time he would be a little Early but there was a old saying if you weren't 10 Min's early you were already late. Looking at the captains ready room he head over to it and rang the chime. He heard the words enter and walked in his emotions were already blocked out he didn't know what to expect and didn't want them clouding any issues.
