Crystal arrived in the messhall. Commodore Smith and Captain Torek were all ready there and engaged in a quiet discussion. She walked over to them feeling a touch nervous and out-of-place. As far as she was aware she wasn't one of Steven's close friends but as his FO it was her responsibility and duty to look after him.
"How's Renora?" Crystal asked as a neutral conversation opener.

trey awoke to find himself in a dark damp musky room, hands restrained and hanging from the ceiling.as his eye adjusted to the dark he could make out a figer leaing against the wall infront of him.
"ahhh, you are finaly awake,i was starting to think you were dead."
"who the hell are you and where in bloody hell am i?"
"ahh, where are my manners, my name is kel-pek and this is place is your humble home, a presion beried deep within an asteroid beyond fedaration space... starfleet."
the young marine's head was pounding and things did'nt make much scence to him. how in the known galaxy did he get here, he seemed to have no recollection.
"hey, kel-pek was it, do you know why and how i got here."
"as for the why i dont know and dont paticularly care, but as for the how... you came just like all the orthers by presioner transport."
suddenly there was a buzzing sound that made trey,s ear ring.
"AHHH...! what in hell is that!?"
"dinner time little human" replied kel.
a small slit opened near kel and a metal dish of what trey could only asume was his meal slied trough it. {you got to be kidding me} he tought to himself, {that slop looks more lethal than that weapon of kel-pek over there}
"so how am i to eat?."
" what do you mean? little human, you eat throught your mouth"
" i KNOW THAT, but i also need my hands"
a beeping sound seem to emanate from kel's waist line. kel reached for a device in the direction of the beep, it could only be a comunication deviec trey conclueded.
"sorry little human but meal time wil have to wait"
"and why is that "
"cuz the boss whans to see you"
kel walked towards tery, and he could now make out a little more of the alian's feachers. he was massive in size and about seven and a half feet tall, indeed trey was a little human near the big brut.Kel lowered trey to the cold, wet, hard uneven floor, he then picked him up and set him down on his two feet.
"there you go now move, we don not want to keep the boss waiting."
" by all means lead the way big guy."

Jack Crane stood in the middle of sickbay in his dress uniform, the Funeral service was due to start in about ten minutes and Jack should have made his way there already to pay his respects.
Jack looked to Janet who was scanning a crewman who had came in complaining that she had a bad headache, he made his way over partly out of interest but more because he was looking for a way out of going to the funeral. Jack looked over Janet’s shoulder and looked at the readouts in the medical tricorder.
“Something is causing a slight Neuro-chemical imbalance in the Cerebral cortex.”
Janet turned with a perturbed look on her face before saying.
“I know that Commander, I have this under control you should leave for the funeral.”
Jack nodded and sighed. “yeah okay your right.”
Jack left sickbay and made his way to the mess hall.
Upon arriving he he noticed the room had not fully filled yet and assumed he was not late. Jack made his way over to where Captain Smith was sitting with another Captain who Jack had not yet met and Commander Rose.
“I am sorry for you loss Captain if there is anything you ever need.” Jack said with a soft spoken voice. Jack tried to think of something else to add but he knew all to well that nothing he could say would make any difference to Smith, and besides Jack hardly knew him at all there were officers on board who could be of more help than Jack.

as the two walked down the halls or rather down the tunnels trey could not help but notice they were being shadowed
"hey big guy i think we are being tagged."
" ah i see you have noticed, it is nothing to worry your little self about, he is only there to make sure you dont try any thing stupid like trying to make a run for it,"
they made there way to a large hall wich seemed out of place for a mining presion, a large classic wooden dubble swang open. kel nundged trey to move forward. as the walked pass the doors trey noticed a symbal wich seem fumiler to him but he just could'nt place a finger on it. the door swang shut behing them.
"welcom, young maverick. it is pleasing to see you unharmed, pleas have a seat"
"what ever you say" replied the marien as he slowly sat down"
"kel-pek you may leave, your presence is no longer needed". kel nodded and then took his leave, with the door shut the shadow figer came into the light.
"a romulan!?...so far out in uncharted space?"
"i could wonder the same about you human,......so why are you so far away from federation space human."
" guess what am saying?... its none of you bessnise"
"ah...so predictable...i asure i have ways of finding out what it is i want to know and they are'nt all to pleasant, so i eurge to reconsider"
"stuff it ponity.... bring on you worst"
"as you wish human" and with thies last words a sharp paine went through trey's body, he slumped forwad and then slowly fell to the floor. the romulan walked over to him, he pull out an extendable rod and jamed it into trey's ribs, marine cried out in paine as a few high intence volts of electric currents flowed through his body. The romulan walk over to trey's downed body and placed a two stiff kicks to his sternum, then leaned over a wispered in his ear.
"take this human skum to his cell"
trey awoke a few hours later to find him self back in his cell, but this time no shackels, and his body riddled with pain, he staggered to his feet.
"welcome back little human"
"kel is that you"
"how are you feeling"
"not good...."
" you should not anger the master"
"and why not?"
"if you continue to be defiant things.... can get...deadly."

Just before the service started Crystal's communicator beeped. She hurried to a far corner to answer the message, she hoped it wasn't going to take long.
=/\=Sorry to interrupt you Commander, this is Luna comm station and I have a young woman here who wants to talk to you. She seems very upset=/\= Crystal sighed, she had a very good idea who this young woman was.
=/\=Put her on the channel=/\=
Crystal was not at all surprised to hear Jedda's voice on the comm. =/\=Crystal, sorry to call on you like this, but I don't know what else I can do. Mum and Dad have been asked to join an exhibition tour in the beta quadrant; Pearl and Neil are going with them. They leave tonight. I need somewhere to stay until Academy term starts. Your parents won't have me, too busy and Aunty Marie is in communicado at the moment. I don't know what else I can do.=/\=
She sounded as if she were about to burst into tears. =/\=Okay, I don't have any shore quarters booked at the moment but you can stay on the Olympia for the moment.=/\=
Crystal paused uncertain that she had done the right thing.
=/\=Thank you thank you thank you=/\=
=/\=Jedda, breathe. When you get here go to my quarters, the computer will direct you and I'll make sure you can get in. Stay there. I'm at a funeral at the moment so I have duties. I'll catch up with you this evening. Any trouble and I'll make sure that you start your Starfleet Career with a reprimand.=/\=
Crystal rejoined the group of officers and hoped her short absence hadn't been noted. She saw David and thinking that he deserved a warning.
"David, Jedda's going to be on board for a day or so. I thought you'd like to know." Tag:

Jack leaned over and whispered into the ear of Commander Rose.
“I have an appointment to get to please excuse me.”
Jack left the room and breathed a sigh of relief, he hated funerals and never felt comfortable listening to people talk lovingly about someone he never met he had nothing to add, no stories to tell.
Jack walked back to sickbay and was happy to be back in his element where he felt most at home.
Sickbay itself was rather quite only two nurses and Janet Reilly were in the room. Jack looked to Janet and asked.
“No problems in here?”
Janet shook her head as she pressed the console on the end of a biobed
“Nothing major Doctor, just checking equipment.”
Jack smiled and nodded.
“Good I will be in my office.”
Jack entered his office and sat behind his desk, for the first time since arriving on the Olympia he had absolutely nothing to do, no patients or paperwork. He just sat looking at the computer console and stared at the symbol of the United Federation Of Planets .
The job offer he had received earlier raced through his mind, it hadn’t taken long but he had made up his mind. Tapping the computer console he opened a comm. Channel to Leo’s office in the hospital in Sydney.
Leo smiled as he saw Jack on the other end of the comm. Channel
“So you ready to get to work down here?”
Jack took a deep breath.
“Sorry Leo I have decided to stay here, I still have work to do in Starfleet.”
Leo sighed.
“ok Jack.. I think your making a mistake but it’s your choice good luck Leo out.”
The comm. Channel closed and Jack was left staring at the empty screen, he didn’t know if he made the right choice or made a big mistake.
Jack leaned back in the chair and raised his feet on the desk, he closed his eyes and appreciated the free time and the silence.
His eyes opened as he remembered that he had yet to treat Richard Martin.
He tapped his comm. Badge
=/\= Mr. Martin Please report to sickbay Crane out.=/\=

David had arrived about fifteen minutes before the rest of the crew began to file in, speaking in hushed tones as a mark of respect. He had gone to the front to offer his respects to the Captain, then took a seat off to one side.
He wasn't exactly sure where he should have sat. He wasn't used to attending this kind of function.
He noticed Crystal leaving the hall, seemingly whispering to her Comm badge .. Several moments later, she re-appeared. But rather than go to her seat, she shuffled between the chairs toward Tan. David watched her approach and wondered what the problem was, thinking it was ship-related, he was readying himself to leave the funeral ceremony if need be.
She leaned close than spoke ..
"David, Jedda's going to be on board for a day or so. I thought you'd like to know."
Two completely different sets of feelings leapt into his mind as the Exec' gave her news .. An image of Jedda appeared in crystal clarity at the mention of her name, and he was almost pleased that he was going to get the chance to see her again. Then a doubt about Commander Rose's Cousin being aboard considering the 'warning' he had just got.
He decided the first thought was best.
"Oh ..." he said, trying not to show 'too' much eagerness, "When is she arriving, is she going to be here for the funeral ?" he asked, glancing at the now filling room.
"She's going to go straight to my quarters while we're here. I'll go and see her once the wake is underway."
"Ahh." David said, almost saddened by the news.
"Why are you sat back here ?" Crystal asked suddenly, trying not to grin at his inability to keep a straight face, then taking Tan's arm eased him to his feet, "Come on, you can sit with me up there."
David followed her to the third row of seats, then stood to one side to allow her to go first down the row. Once she reached her seat, she looked back, David moved along the row and took the seat next to her.
A Senior Officer walked to the small stage that had been erected and placed an ornate book, obviously a Bible, on the lectern before opening the tome to the desired page. The funeral ceremony was about to begin, but David couldn't help wonder when, if, he would see Jedda again ..........

Steve had said a few words to Carl. Crystal, David and Jack as they came in and offered him their condolences. He thanked them and they took their places for the ceremony as the rest of the invited crew began to arrive. He stood by Arya's coffin muttering a few words under his breath with his eyes closed. It was taking all of his effort to keep his emotions in check. He went back and sat down on his chair facing into the room.
Within minutes the hall was full and everyone had taken a seat. When it was deemed that no-one else would be coming, Steve stood up, cleared his throat a little and walked up to the coffin. His heart was pounding in his chest and he was taking deep breaths. He glanced towards each of his senior crew and also to Carl. Taking one final breath, he began.
"Friends and crew of the USS Olympia, we are here today to pay our final respects to one of our own, Commander Arya Smith. Arya was a well respected member of this crew, and she was also a much loved wife and mother who was stuck down with an un-curable illness that lead to her death well before her time. Arya was the sort of person who you could never fault, and could always rely on to get things done when it was needed...."
Steve had to pause. His voice was breaking, and a few tears had formed. "Arya will be sorely missed, not only by me and Renora, but I am pretty sure that in your own way, you will all miss her as well."
Steve was now struggling. This was the hardest thing he had ever had to do in his life, and he was in no way prepared for it. Not knowing what to do, he looked over to Carl, who he had invited for the funeral, and tilted his head slightly in a gesture for him to come up and say a few words...mainly to give Steve a few moments to calm down and get it back together.

Everyone remained silent as the padre read from the ornate Bible. He read a passage that was one of Arya's favorites.
As he finished, he motioned to Steven to take his place stepping aside .. Carl sensed his friends hesitation, but felt helpless to urge him forward. This was something Steven had to do for himself ... Slowly, he rose from the chair, almost sub-consciously pulling down his dress tunic as he did so, then he walked slowly toward the lectern.
Watching the assembled crew, making eye contact with every single one, finishing with Crystal and Carl, he finally sighed deeply and began ..
"Friends and crew of the USS Olympia ... We are here today to pay our final respects to one of our own. Commander Arya Smith ... Arya was a well respected member of this crew, and she was also a much loved wife and mother, who was stuck down with an un-curable illness that lead to her death well before her time. Arya was the sort of person who you could never fault, and could always rely on to get things done when ..... when it was needed ......"
Carl could see the strain on Steven's face as he spoke. He was having difficulty getting the words to come out now, and as tears began to fall freely down his face, he tried to continue ..
"...... Arya will be sorely missed. Not only by me and Renora, but I am pretty sure that in your own way ...... You will all mi ......"
Carl could see the look on his friends face now, he was almost pleading with his eyes for Carl to help him ... Torek got up, no-one uttered a word as the Captain walked to his friend, and placing a hand warmly on the mans arm, edged him to one side delicately, then looked out at the assembled guests ..
"I'm sure we all have fond memories of Arya, and I for one will not be forgetting her in a hurry. She was everything Steven said, and much much more. She was a woman who put her ship and crew first on every single occasion I worked with her. She was taken from us when ..... Well no ..... There is never going to be a right time to leave, but Arya would want us all to continue doing what she wanted to do, and that was to do everything and anything to the best of her ability." Carl had to stop for a second as he noticed Steven sway slightly, and he placed a hand on his arm before continuing, "Arya has given Steven many wonderful memories, one especially, in the form of a Daughter. Renora is eighteen months old and already exhibiting the humorous traits of her mother. I'm sure she will be keeping her Father busy, and happy, for years to come ......"
Steven swayed again, and this time Carl took hold of him, edging him forward and guiding him back to his seat. Once there Steven cried freely, never taking his eye's off the casket before them.
The Padre moved to the lectern and asked if anyone wanted to say a few words ... Steven sobbed silently against Carl's shoulder ..........

Feel free to add a few words. I'm sure Commodore Smith will appreciate it ..

Crystal Rose
Crystal sat in silence during the service she hadn't had a chance to get to know Arya Smith as well as she would have liked and now she would never have the chance. Lost opportunities, lost chances. Renora would grow up not knowing her mother ...
Crystal somehow kept the tears at bay as Captain Torek spoke. Then the padre asked if there was anyone else who wanted to speak. Crystal got to her feet, she hated public speaking and she disliked funerals but she had to say something.
She swallowed hard as she took the rostrum. She could hear Steven crying on his friend's shoulder.
"Arya Smith was one of the most vibrant and active women i have ever met. Her loss has made the galaxy a duller and sadder place. I doubt there was a single person who met Arya who was not affected by her. We will all remember her and we will be inspired and cheered by her example."
Crystal's voice was cracking a bit as she finished speaking. She stepped down from the podium and returned to her seat.
Jedda Rose
Jedda stepped off the transporter pad on the Olympia and looked around with a look of awe. This was the first time she had been on a Federation Starship, well one that was still in service anyway...
"Miss Rose?" The transporter operator asked. Jedda nodded. "Commander Rose said you were coming aboard. She said 'everything was arranged as you discussed'."
"Thank-you." Jedda replied. She was feeling a bit nervous but also hopeful. Maybe she would see David again.
She stepped into the corridor. "Computer, can you direct me to Crystal Rose's quarters please."
"Commander First Class Crystal Rose's quarters are on deck 4 section 24......."
Jedda followed the computer's instructions and soon found herself outside her cousin's quarters.
"Computer this is Jedda Rose can you open the door please?" She felt a touch silly talking to the ship's computer but it was so easy.
"Speaker identified. Access authorised." The door whooshed open and Jedda stepped in. The quarters were pretty tidy bar the wobbly pile of PADDs on the desk. Jedda dropped her bag on the floor in the living area and went to look round. In the bedroom she found Crystal's normal duty uniform draped over a chair. She picked up the tunic and jacket; holding them against herself as she looked in the mirror. One day she would wear them for real. She flopped on the bed for moment the stress of the day was wearing on her.
Jedda walked back into the living area and flung herself into a full length sprawl on the sofa, she was now bored as there was nothing she could do but wait. Her eyes fell on another pile of PADDs beside the sofa, the first one she picked up was locked so she tossed it to one side and picked up another. This too was locked and joined the first on the floor. The third PADD contained a collection of scientific papers which she started to read to pass the time.

Steven sat in silence as Crystal spoke, Carl could tell how moved he was by her words. He had stopped sobbing now, and was sat watching Officers voice their thoughts and memories of Arya. He reached to one side and picked up a single red rose, along with small ornately engraved card. Carl remembered the card. it had stood in a silver frame on the coffee table in Steven and Arya's quarters. He had last seen it when Arya was, was still alive. "Carl, I would like you to read this out for me. I'm not sure I have the strength." Steven said, handing the card to Torek. When it seemed that no-one else was going to say a few words, Carl nodded to the Padre and stood to face the gathered relatives, friends, and Officers .. Steven stood and walked to the casket as Carl began to read. "This is a poem that was dear to Arya .... I think she would like you all to hear it." he said, as Steven tenderly placed the rose on the plaque .. A deceased loved one in Gods hands Lives the fullness of three strands Three cords of love, faith, and hope Weave a stronger bond than rope One lasting love, a braid of three God, my deceased ones, and me May these three strands unite as one At home with God, when time is done Carl took his seat, and watched as Steven bowed forward to gently kiss the rose he had placed. Then with almost a sigh of resignation, he came back to sit down. The Padre again took his place and began a prayer as the casket began to slowly move toward the alter ..........

Jedda Rose
Jedda lay sprawled on her cousin's sofa, she had read through Crystal's PADD of scientific papers and was now bored once more. She looked up thinking. Then broke into a quick smile wondering why she hadn't thought of this before.
She stood up and activated the wall display panel. A few button taps later and she had called up a plan of the Olympia. She walked over to the replicator and a few seconds later had a empty PADD, a few seconds after that and she had a cup of coffee. She downloaded the ship schematic to the PADD and settled down to study it. Jedda intended to enjoy every moment of being on this ship so she didn't want to waste time getting lost.
Crystal Rose
Crystal was beginning to get edgy as the service drew to a close. She noted that both Doctor Crane and Ensign Martin had left the messhall but she wasn't bothered. She was actually surprised that there hadn't been any shipboard emergencies that required her presence. Everyone knew that she was dealing with the day-to-day running of the ship at the moment while the Captain came to terms with the loss of Arya, the last thing he needed at the moment was some idiot harassing him to sign an inventory slip.
She hoped Jedda hadn't done too much damage in her quarters, the girl had a reputation a a prankster after all. Crystal sighed silently to herself and tried to plan what she needed to do. She was seeing Paul and James tomorrow and she was nearly sure that they would be happy to have Jedda stay with them until academy term started. So that was one problem solved.
Crystal was sure that there would be a pile of PADDs awaiting her when she returned to her quarters and she had planned to fit in another self-defence session this evening. Now though she would be juggling her cousin. Still if she got Jedda into guest quarters for tonight then things should work out......

Arya's coffin moved slowly towards the back of the room and a curtain then closed around it. That signalled that the service was pretty much over. Steve was a lot calmer now than what he was earlier on in the service. He had stopped crying, and was breathing normally and quietly.
Taking a quick glance either side of him, Steve then stood up. He approached the front of the audience and looked over the room before speaking.
"Arya's memory will forever live on in me, as I am sure it will do with some of you as well. I know there are a few of you here that wouldn't have gotten to know her that well, so I just want to thank you for turning up to pasy your last requests. That in fact goes for all of you, especially you Carl." Steve said, nodding to his friend. "Leaving the Raven to come here is very much appreciated, and I am sure Arya would be happy that you could come."
Steve then walked up to the Padre. "This service is now over. You may go as you please, but if you would like to stay to say a prayer, or have a few quiet words to Arya, then please do so. Once again, thank you all for coming." Steve shook the Padre's hand and then walked towards the side of the room and waited people to leave.

"...... so I just want to thank you for turning up to pay your last respects. That in fact, goes for all of you .. Especially you Carl." Steve said, nodding to his friend, "Leaving the Raven to come here is very much appreciated, and I am sure Arya would be happy that you could come." Carl nodded to his friend. then sat quietly as the Padre and Steven moved to one side. Several Officers moved to pay their respects to Arya, one or two bade farewell to Carl himself as they left the room. Crystal and David were talking quietly and Torek found himself alone in the aisle. He looked at the casket, thinking his own thoughts, recalling memories, and managed a grin as one particular memory surfaced. After a quiet moment he walked over to Steven, who was talking in hushed tones to the Padre, but held out his hand as Carl approached .. "I meant every word Carl." Steven said, hugging his friend for several seconds, "It was good to see you." "You too ... Pity it couldn't have been under better circumstances." Torek said, returning the show of close friendship, "I am expected back on the Raven, but if you need me to hang around for a while ......" "No .. I'll be fine Carl." Steven replied, shaking the offered hand, "Get back to your ship. Next time we meet we'll have a beer .. No, several." "You're on ...... You can get the first round in too ..." Carl said, heading for the door, "... For a change !" "I'm sure there's some regulation somewhere against me buying .. Safe journey Carl .. God speed." "You too Steven ... You too my friend." Carl said, then left for his quarters where his bag's were packed ready for pick-up. Then he headed for the transporter room. There was a ship heading in the Raven's direction .. With one last silent prayer for Steven and Renora, he spoke to the Transporter Chief .. "Energize ..." .......... I would like to again thank Commodore Smith for inviting me to guest on this thread. It has been a privilege to sim with you all. God speed on your next outing ...
Thanks Kieron. Enjoyed it mate
Captain Carl Torek.
