Steve was sat on the bridge as the El Sal approached the listening post. They were now less than a minute away.
He tapped his combadge.
=/\= Smith to DanTrek, Commander, seeing as we are still in once piece, I can presume that you sorted out your little problem, yes? =/\=
=/\= Yes sir. Everything is back to normal. =/\= DanTrek replied.
=/\= Thank you Commander, Smith out. =/\=
Steve looked at his viewscreen as the second ticked by, and the image grew larger. He turned to the Ensign at the science station.
"When we get in range, start scanning the post. I want to find out what is wrong here." He said.
"Aye, sir." Came the nervous reply from the Ensign.

Good thing too. They were out her to make to fix the probe, not obliterate it in a Core breach.
::With less than a minute from the probe, DanTrek quickly left Engineering to get to the Bridge in time. In situations like this, the Bridge was a more useful place to be for the Chief Engineer::
::He jogged out of Engineering and into a turbolift. It took him to the Bridge::
Helm Ensign: Sir, we're in scanning range of the Listening Post.
Smith: Thank you, Ensign......Good timing Commander.
DanTrek: Thank you, sir.
Smith: Begin full scan of the Listening Post
::DanTrek moved to the Engineering console. He began checking the Listening Post's systems. After a minute he found the problem::
DanTrek: I found the problem, sir. It appears that the Subspace transmitter has gone offline. A simple malfunction it seems.
Smith: Then you can repair it?
DanTrek: Yes, sir. It probably wont be a simple repair, but its far easier than repairing the power generator or the power distribution system, which i had suspected.
Smith: Good to hear it.
DanTrek: We should beam it aboard to repair it. Cargo Bay one should be large enough.
Smith: Sounds good. Ops, prepare beam it to Cargo bay one.
DanTrek: Hold on, dont initiate transport till I get down there. I want to make sure nothing goes wrong.
::DanTrek quickly left the Bridge and headed for Cargo Bay one::

Kivan watched as his boss left engineering in a hurry, and having nothing to do, decided to go to his quarters to clean himself. He had just gone off duty, and although this new occurence seemed to be rather important, he was sure it was something that could be handled by the engineering staff currently on duty.
On reaching his quarters, he collapsed onto his couch and randomly lay there for a few minutes, wondering what to do first. He could make himself a drink, go for a shower, or just move to his bed and die for a while. He thought it would be best to have a shower first, and then go out to the mess hall for the evening. Twenty minutes later, he made his appearance in the mess hall, having changed into off duty clothing. He wore a dark grey, easy fitting shirt, with a pair of denim jeans on.
He ordered a drink, and then moved to an already packed table, with a group of lower ranking officers that he was good friends with. They talked for a while, and after Kivan had finished his third drink he realised how tired he was, so bid his farewells to his friends, and made his way towards his quarters.
Upon reaching it, he changed out of his clothes and went to bed. He was woken up some time later hearing DanTrek's voice.
=/\=DanTrek to Kivan, report to Engineering immediately. =/\=

Savot had left the bridge earlier when his shift was over, intending to meet Doctor Irae for a drink, but he had gone down to sickbay to check on her and she was busy with an emergency case. One member of the crew apparently had some minor heart difficulties that were believed to be under control, but he had an episode in the middle of the corridor, collapsing, and the next person to pass by notified sickbay at once.
Not wanting to get in the way, Savot quietly ducked out, intending to send the Doctor a note later to let her know he did not merely abandon her.
***********************************
After spending about an 2 hours in meditation, to get himself as rested as possible, he left his quarters and returned to the bridge. He caught the lift with Commander Dantrek, who nodded cordially, and the two went to the bridge to take their respective stations.
Savot nodded to Commander Smith, relieved the nervous young ensign at Ops, and sat down to intiate the transport of the listening post for repair, as Dantrek headed down to supervise.
=^= Savot to Dantrek, everything is ready to proceed on your signal. Bridge out. =^=

:: Deis is finally able to step away from Ensign Jovack. Her emergency case. For once our lil energetic doctor is tired. She heads away from the containment biobed that the heart patient rests on and into her office. She nearly falls into her adjustichair and begins writing up the record on the case, giving her observations and procedures verbally while leaning back in her chair, feet bare, toes scritching themselves on the carpet::
Medical Records, access code Irae Echo Ealanor. Subject: Ensign Ian Jovack, crewman number 4383q3
Ensign Jovack was brought t Sickbay w' a congenital coronary aneurysm. This be an inward explosion o' a large artery o' th heart. In Jovak's case th artery in question be th aeorta. He required nearly a full blood replacement, resusitation, an open heart surgery. Th aeorta was replaced with an implant made of vestlov fiber and seems t be stable. Regeneratives an antirejectives prescribed and administered. Personal notes: I ken tha all nurses and Doctors keep a bit of an eye on Mr. Jovack. 'E is listed as critical condition fer 48 hours unless dramatic change is seen.
:: Deis hits the save button and leans back in her chair...only then does she realize that she was supposed to meet Savot in the lounge roughly 6 hours ago.:: Ach now he'll be thinkin tha i stood him up. ::so she brings up the screen comm and records a message to send::
~to Savot~ Commander. I wished t be lettin ye know me regrets fer missin our...meetin. Joost as Dantrek walked in there was a rush. I been doin heart surgery all night. Speak wi ye soon. ::even on screen she looks tired. the message ends::
::she rests back again and then sighs and punches up Dantreks personal comm as well to send a message for later retrieval::
~To Dantrek~ Commander. I iffer me apologies fer th absolute failure of yer physical. Fer th now consider yerself on reprieve ::chuckles slightly:: In all th scuffle i didna get t really meet ye and would like t do so. At yer leisure o course. ::and the screen darkens again her last message sent::
:: Deis then tries to relax...though sleep usually comes hard to her now it comes easily and she falls into heavy sleep curled up in her office chair in the Sickbay::
OFF: HA HA!! A post!

::DanTrek entered the turbolift::
DanTrek: Cargo Bay One.
::It began to move::
DanTrek: =/\= DanTrek to Paria. I want Alpha Team in Cargo Bay One immediately. We've reached the Listening Post =/\=
Paria: =/\= Understood, sir. On our way =/\=
::A few minutes later DanTrek walked into the Cargo Bay. The Officers were already in place. This was why they were Alpha Team::
DanTrek: We ready?
Paria: Yes, sir.
DanTrek: =/\= DanTrek to Bridge. We're ready down here =/\=
Smith: =/\= Understood Commander. Initiating transport =/\=
::The air shimmered and the Listening Post appeared. It dominated most of the Cargo Bay::
DanTrek: Alright lets go to work. Paria, Stevens, check the transmitter, found out what happened. Pearsons, Johnson, Joktel, systems check. I'll be finding out what happened.
::They spread out. Whilst the Team swarmed the Listening Post, DanTrek went to the Computer console::
DanTrek: Computer, establish a Data-link to the Listening Post's memory core.
Computer: Working....Link established.
DanTrek: Access records starting 24 hours before it stopped transmitting.
Paria: Commander, I can't find any malfunctions in the transmitter. It's just offline.
DanTrek: What? How's the reactor?
Pearsons: Active.
DanTrek: Power Distribution Net?
Johnson: Working properly.
DanTrek: Shield grid?
Joktel: 100%
DanTrek: Odd. I'll check its memory.
::Just then the Captain entered the Cargo Bay::
Smith: Report.
DanTrek: Well, there's nothing really wrong with it. The transmitter just....shut down.
Smith: Cause?
DanTrek: Unknown. Checking now.
::DanTrek went to check the memory files. Put then, the Post started downloaded other information into the Computer; instructing it::
DanTrek: Paria, get over here!
::Paria came over to the console::
DanTrek: Take a look at this.
Paria: It certainly shouldn't be doing that.
DanTrek: No, it shouldn't.
::The Listening Post began reprogramming the Computer on a large scale::
DanTrek: Shut down the link!
Paria: I can't!
DanTrek: Lock out the key systems.
Paria: Too late. It's already got control. Its instructing the replicator and the environmental systems.........Commander, look at this.
::DanTrek's eyes widened in horror::
DanTrek: This is bad.
Smith: What's wrong?
DanTrek: The Listening Post has reprogrammed the Computer to spread a virus to the crew. And we have no way of stopping it.#nosmileys

*At the same time on the bridge; Traks was running some course plots and a level 3 diagnostic of the navigation system*
Traks: That is odd.
*Traks proceeded to the science substation, and began a check of the computer.
Traks: Traks to the Captain (no answer) Computer where is the captain? (No answer).
COMPUTER: INTRUDER ALERT; ENVIRONMENTAL SUBSYSTEMS COMP............* then the computer shutdown. *
Traks: RED ALERT isolate the bridge environmental systems .
*No one responded as Traks turned to look around the bridge people were dropping to the deck. Traks lunged to the environmental controls and put the bridge on independent life support. Grabbing and donning a combat environmental suit from the emergency locker he put it on and sat down at the science station to see if he could beat this computer invasion at it's own game. *
Traks: Traks to sick bay we have a medical emergency on the bridge. (No answer).
*Traks began to work repairing the damage to the computer but his vision began to blur and his head felt lighter. Turning on the emergency medical system of the combat suit he returned to the computer to find a way to help his shipmates. *

Savot spun at his console, sharing Traks' vision of the bridge crew collapsing one by one. Following the Navigator's logic, Savot ran for his own enviro suit, but having already been exposed to the virus, Savot entered and maintained the Vulcan healing trance for the time being, unaware of how severely the virus would affect his biology.
Seeing Traks heading for the computer to try and fix that side of the problem, he tapped in the comm-system from his suit to Traks'. "Commander Traks, I will proceed to sickbay to try and recover the situation there. We will need Doctor Irae's medical knowledge to counterattack the virus, it is likely she has already fallen victim to it, but I will attempt to revive her. I hope your efforts here are successful, be well."
Savot got an acknowledgement from Traks over the comms, and tapped into the computer's basic functions to initiate site-to-site transport, from the bridge to sickbay, relaying through transporter room 5.
He beamed directly in, not wanting to find out the hard way that the doors would not open. He materialized near a biobed, saw the chaos that was sickbay at the moment. He saw Doctor Irae slumped over a desk, hand outstretched to the intra-ship comm system. She was likely trying to respond to Traks' call, but was overtaken by the virus before she could complete the attempt.
Savot picked her up, laying her on a biobed, and conducted a quick, basic diagonis using the sensor equipment. From what he could tell, the virus, while extremely harmful, looked to be easily countered in most humanoid species. He had no doubts that Doctor Irae could find a retrovirus in time to save the others. However, what he read didn't bode as well for Vulcans. It seemed to have a much more violent reaction to the Vulcan's copper-based bloodstream, and was much more difficult to counterattack. It might be possible, but Savot had neither the time nor the medical experience needed to make a more detailed assumption.
Either way, before anyone could recover, they needed the Doctor conscious, and Savot could think of only one way to accomplish that without the retrovirus. He knew it would mean lowering the healing trance, thereby allowing the virus to further overpower his body, but it was the only possibility he could see. He took off his gloves, unclasped his helmet, and placed the fingers of both hands on specific points of the Irish doctor's face, at her chin, under her eyes, on her temples, and just in front of her ears. As he made the final connection, he dove into her mind, initiating a mind meld.
The human body was naturally equipped with a spectacular healing system. However, the natural human healing process had no logic functions, and therefore could not prioritize, sacrificing the repair of some areas to concentrate elsewhere. Savot gave Deis Irae's body the logical programming it lacked, he directed the majority of the doctor's white blood cells and antibodies to critical areas of the brain, and nervous system. This would leave her infected elsewhere, and would in no sense of the word cure her, but it would help her recover consciousness in a matter of minutes, and hopefully keep her that way long enough to develop a serum.
As Deis' body accepted the instructions and began it's work, Savot retreated from her mind, knowing that if he died while connected to her, she would likely die as well and all would be for naut.
Beads of sweat brimmed the vulcan's brow, and he became dizy, losing his steadiness. His vision blurred, and he fell to the deck, sprawled out and fever started to grow slowly within him. As a vulcan, he had a remarkable fortitude, but within a matter of 2 days at most, more likely less than 24 hours, his body would lose the fight. His, and the entire ship's, chances currently lay in the hands of Commander Traks on the bridge, and the yet still-unconscious form of Doctor Deis Irae, who drew ever closer to waking every second that ticked by. Unfortunately, each second brought everyone else closer to oblivion...

~Deis had fallen asleep before her console in the office and was having the best nap shes had in 6 months. She was dreaming of the mideval holo program she frequents when she has the time. Its just a simple scene of a hilltop, flowers, sunlight...lunch on a blanket...only she cant tell who her dining companions are...in that strange dream way they are obscured~
~then suddenly as she sits there handing out bread and butter...strangely the butters blue...there is a chirping noise...Deis of course knows what this is though theres no such thing as a communicator in the Irish mideval period...she looks down to her very ornate mideval maroon heavy velvet gown and touches the communicator that suddenly appears there~
::and blinks awake as theres actually a message comming through::
COMPUTER: INTRUDER ALERT; ENVIRONMENTAL SUBSYSTEMS COMP............
::this nearly sends deis falling out of her chair with a lil squeek of suprise...that klaxon horn going off and the red flashing like the ship does when stuff is goin down...she goes to get to her console and is suddenly siezed by a difficulty of breathing...shes very dizzy...she dosent even realize shes trying to crawl to the comm and then there is blackness...::
~though she dosent realize it...shes dreaming again...this time a storms suddenly broken out atop the hill she and her companions sat on...before her eyes the lightening comes down and strikes her companions into oblivion...and strangely the color begins to leech out of everything and then shes swimming in this swirling black. She cannot breathe or move...~
~Her hands flail above her head and she realizes shes drowning...the icky vortex o death has turned into black water...she struggles against it swimming but there seems to be no break in the water...shes panicing badly when suddenly everything stills including herself~
~the thunderous beating of her heart is calmed and the water fades...shes never felt anything quite like it...she is she...but hes also there...how can that be.~
Savot....Savot.
I hear you
::and then the presence of him is gone and she sleeps...its a few moments before she opens her eyes and takes a deep breath...shes slightly disoriented but she understands exactly what is happening. To her body and to Savots...that much was easily seen through the mind of the Vulcan that melded with her...she slips off the biobed and her knees buckle. she grabs ahold of the beds side and sees Him. Savot lays at her feet and sickbay is in chaos...but she knows what she knows and the first being that gets treated is going to be him...she shakes her head to clear it and turns to one of the half consious orderlies...grabbing a hypospray and doing something docs should never do...she hits him with adrenaline. The orderlie then picks up the larger vulcan and lays him on the biobed that the Doctor had just vacated::
:shes aware of what He did...and the price he paid to do it and is tempted to punch his good looking face for risking himself that way...but instead gets moving...she knows what needs to be done...now its time to go to work::

DanTrek: Kivan, report to Main Engineering immediately!
COMPUTER: INTRUDER ALERT; ENVIRONMENTAL SUBSYSTEMS COMP............
DanTrek: I was wondering when that would be going off.
::DanTrek rushed for a compartment on the wall and opened it and began pulling out handing out ventilation masks. After making sure the Captain and everyone else had their's on, he put his own on. He had Self-healing abilities and was able to stave off the effects till he got it on::
DanTrek: Somebody must have booby-trapped the Listening Post, planted the virus in it and deactivated the transmitter. That would have given a way to spread it. The virus must have been attached to the memory file. That way, when we opened it, it would have downloaded itself.
Smith: So what do we do next?
Paria: We can't use this console again, that's for sure. The virus blew it out.
::Johnson and Pearsons were already by the door::
Johnson: The door's out too. The virus must have taken out such controls.
Smith: Can we force it open?
DanTrek: Not that type of door, no. It's reinforced since the far wall can open into space.
::Smith looked around at the wall::
Smith: Can we use that Jeffries tube?
DanTrek: Yes, its a mechanical release, and also leads right to Main Engineering.
Smith: Lead the way, Commander.
::They got into the Jeffries tube and crawled a few dozen yards to Engineering. They found a few people on the floor, but most people were moving around quickly::
DanTrek: Report!
Jenkins: Environmental sytems have been compromised. Main Power control, Engines and Communications are all down too.
DanTrek: Let's look on the bright side. With no engines or communications system, we can't spread this to anyone else.
Smith: I'm going to try to reach the Bridge.
DanTrek: Paria, go with him.
Smith: Commander.....
DanTrek: No but's, sir. We don't know what the virus may have done. You'll have trouble getting there, and you'll need one of us. Kivan was in quarters, and I'm needed here. Take Paria with you.
Smith: I will. Let's go, Lt.
DanTrek: Alright, people, let's beat this thing. MOVE!#nosmileys

Steve left Main Engineering and headed towards the bridge with his "escort". Getting there wasnt going to be easy. They would have to crawl through the Jeffries Tubes and climb many decks.
After many minutes of crawling, Steve and Lt Paria arrived at Deck 1. He crawled out of the tube, and took a few moments to stretch his legs, so he could walk properly.
When he was ready, both himself and Lt Paria open the doors to the bridge and entered. The sight was shocking. Not one of the bridge crew had managed to prevent the virus from infecting them.
He quickly went to the science station and began looking it over. The whole of the ship was infected.
'This isnt good.' He thought. He then turned on the comms system in his suit.
=/\= Commander DanTrek, this is Commander Smith. The crew up here on the Bridge are incapacitated. Whatever needs to be done up here, myself and Paria will have to do it on our own. Do you read? =/\=

Kivan had shot out of his bed, after being ordered to report to Engineering immediately. He changed into his uniform and before he had a chance to exit his quarters......
COMPUTER: INTRUDER ALERT; ENVIRONMENTAL SUBSYSTEMS COMP............
He realised that the Listening Post must have something to do with what was happening. He desperately looked around for an environmental suit, but (unsurprisingly) there wasn't one in his quarters. He tried to leave the small room, but he ended up walking into the door. He tried to manually override the systems so that his door would open, but he couldn't get it to budge. He only had enough time to wonder why anyone would want to do this to the ship, before he slumped to the ground, striking his head on the door......

*Traks kept working at the computer managing to isolate the virus and begin the removal and restore of systems. *
Envio Suit Computer: Medical warning... Medical warning... Blood pressure abnormally low, temps high and negative response. Administering sedative and activating emergency medical beacon.
* Traks kept telling the computer in his suit to over-ride the medical protocols but all that came out of his mouth was a squeak.* "Something about this virus is especially bad for Vulcans. Traks suit had activated an emergency beacon causing the ship's computer to beam him to sickbay.*

Remeti was inspecting weapons. One of the more tedious jobs of being the security officer. but it was an important one.
COMPUTER: INTRUDER ALERT; ENVIRONMENTAL SUBSYSTEMS COMP............
All of a sudden the red alert alarms sounded.
Remeti let out an inventive Klingon curse.
She stood up quickly and nearly fell down as her head spun.
Whoa!! she thought to herself. That wasn't usual Remeti waited until her head stopped spinning and made for the door.
She never made it. All of a sudden her world blacked out and she went tumbling to the ground

:: Deis is in a state of frantic movement...the sickbay in chaos. In the midst of her rather frantic research and work the vulcan Traks is transported directly into the Sickbay and then promptly falls over. Deis rushes to help him, knocking over a stack of freaking pitri dishes and sending them scattering...she has to stop and swallow hard...her own head is swimming but it passes after a moment and she goes to him. Theres noone to help her, the nurses all unconsious::
:: the doctor is a lil bitty thing but she somehoe manages to manhandle the unconsious Tracks up onto one of the isolation biobeds near Savot...activating the field that she sort of created in a fevered 12 hour stretch of wide eyed workfulness. It will do her little good in the long run but for the now the field is proving capable of slowing the movement of the virus...at least in the vulcans. For the humans she couldnt say yet::
:: Once he is snug in his lil biobed Deis steps out of the field and, carefully makes her way back to her console...kicking pitri dishes out of the way in uncharacteristic irritation. She snatches up a blood sample and just stares at it as if she could fix the antibodies in her mind by staring...while applying rather intense pressure to the tube the small glass vial breaks in her fingertips and cuts her finger...she watches herself bleed for a moment before nearly shouting out with the lightening flash of the idea that hits her mind. She has to cure the humans first....::
::she quickly throws away the broken glass and runs a dermal regenerator over her fingertips and then goes to work, taking a blood sample from herself and then running phenotypes against it. Thats it thats the kicker. The blood needs a protien that human bodies make...but vulcans dont. Therefor the difference in speed. She goes to work genning up a really long shot...a mixture of both bloods given the phenotype protein that we all so desperatly need...but her endurance only goes so far. Even with the bolstering strength of Savot. By the time the first sample is genned from the replicator shes staggering to get to it. Shes the only consious human in sickbay so that means shes guinea pig...she manages to grab the sample and shove it into her hypospray as she slides down against the wall, sitting on the floor...she hypos herself on the arm and says only one thing aloud in hours::
Please God...

DanTrek: =/\= I read you, Captain. I'm going to get my people to work beating this thing, then I'm going to force my way through and get any Senior Staff that have succomb to Sickbay. =/\=
Smith: =/\= Acknowledged. Smith out =/\=
::DanTrek pulled out his tricorder and began a wide range bio-scan. Traks, Savot and Dr Irae were all in sickbay. The Captain was on the Bridge. However, both Lucas and Kivan both appeared to have succomb. Lucas near a weapons locker, and Kivan was in quarters::
::DanTrek went to a storage locker. He opened it, revealing site-to-site transporter devices. He put several of them in an equipment pack::
DanTrek: Johnson, take over. I'm going after the injured Senior Staff.
Johnson: Aye, sir.
::DanTrek set off for Lucas first. His progress was slow, as he had to crawl through Jeffries tubes and force every single hatch open. After about half an hour, he found her slumped over next to the weapons locker. He pulled out a site-to-site. He set it for the coordinates of Sickbay, activated it, and stepped away. Lucas was beamed to Sickbay::
DanTrek: One down.
::Getting to Kivan would be harder. Lucas had been a few decks up. Kivan was 10 decks away::
---------------------------------------------------------------------
::It took DanTrek an hour to reach Kivan. He forced the door open, and Kivan fell into the corridor. Apparently he had been against the door. DanTrek put another site-to-site on the floor and again set it for Sickbay. He activated it::
DanTrek: Stay close, Kivan. We're going for a ride.

Steve looked over the science console. He tapped a few controls to see which members of his crew were still fit for duty. The result wasnt very impressing.
Out of his senior staff, only himself, Cmdr DanTrek and Dr Irae were uninfected, and the latter two were situated in Sickbay.
"Crumbs." He said to himself. "This isn't good. There has to be a way to counteract this virus."
He was going to join th others in Sickbay, but realised that he should probably try and sort something out where he was, so he turned on the comms in his suit.
=/\= Commander DanTrek. Could you spare some of your Engineering staff for me? I may need some help on the Bridge to try and work around this virus. =/\=

::it could have been 5 minutes...or it could have been hours...Deis isnt sure. The world faded out on her and she had dropped the hypospray. She lay there against the wall as though dead for a few moments until she suddenly starts breathing deeper...the vaccine is working within her body but she dosent awaken until the transporter noise chimes her into wakefulness. Shes unaware of it but Deis looks awful...dark shadowings under her eyes and a paleness to her flesh...but at least she will mend now. As the transporter chimes she sees Remeti Lucas laying on the floor...and then shortly after she sees Kivan. Her breathing is stronger when she struggles up from the floor and then sees the Tall Orange Engineer teleported in with the unconsious. Deis sees who it is and laughs with relief*
Commander *pant pant* Dantrek...joost th man i be wantin t see...
::she then puts Commander Dantrek to work placing unconsious people on biobeds. While he does that she fills up two hyposprays and heads into the small containment area. Shes still a bit wobbly so sits down on the edge of Savots Biobed and sighs, saying to him as she injects the vaccine into his bloodstream::
Savot...this better work. ::hypospray hiss to Savots arm and then to Traks across the way:: If it does'na then...:*pauses: then ill be verra upset. ::looking down at her sleeping but now innoculated friend...checking over Traks and doing the same...she watches the both of them for several moments before nodding to herself and leaving containment. Its working..at least in her body...time to mass produce::
::When she steps out she heads straight for the replicators and begins punching in the reagent information on what she wants and hoiw much. she summons an entire gallon of this stuff and then looks around to Dantrek:: Commander...i need th jeffries tubes tha go t th ships air supply and ventlation. Dantrek (being cool like that) nods and leads her on...watching bemusedly as she crawls her half dead scrawny heiny into the tubes and drag the gallon of reagent with her...it takes roughly 40 minutes to reach her destination but she finds it...its right on the map::
::the gallon sized canister is made to be introduced into the air systems of the ship...she slides the canister into one of the generators and then clicks it open...the vaccine inside explodes outward and then spreads through every single room and tube on this ship, airborne and being now breathed by all::

(OFF: Note the interaction between DanTrek and Deis was worked out together over MSN IM)
::DanTrek was relieved that the virus was being counteracted::
Smith: =/\= Commander DanTrek. Could you spare some of your Engineering staff for me? I may need some help on the Bridge to try and work around this virus =/\=
DanTrek: =/\= DanTrek to Pearsons. You, Johnson and Joktel take a couple site-to-sites and beam to the Bridge. The Captain needs help with the computer =/\=
Pearsons: =/\= Aye, sir =/\=
DanTrek: =/\= DanTrek to Smith. I've got three Engineers coming up to the Bridge, Captain. They should be there in just a moment. Oh, and Doctor Irae has managed to spread the treatment of the Virus through the Environmental System=/\=
Smith: =/\=Thats excellent. Smith out =/\=
::DanTrek looked over at the tired Dr. Irae, who was currently leaning up against the wall::
DanTrek: Well, Doc, what do ya say we get out of here?
::Pants softly as shes dizzy::
Deis: Aye...though th vaccene is out...therer still be people on th floor in me Sickbay...ach i am tired
DanTrek: Are you sure you're up to the return trip?
::She chuckles* I dinna 'ave much of a choice now do i Commander. ::smiling:: Ill make it..an ye? ye dinna seem to be affected by th Tris. ::shes named this Virus already::
DanTrek: That would be because I am self-healing. I was able to hold off the effects until I got the ventilator mask on.
Deis: Remind me t talk t ye bout yer physiology ::crawling out of this tube and into another:: yer physical was lackin...i nae know a thin bout yer Kind Commander.
DanTrek: Not many do. There are not many of my species in Starfleet. We tend to keep to ourselves.
Deis: Well ye shouldnt! ::falling out of the tube with a THUMP and groan:: Err...cause yer a facinatin type. No reason nae t be about joost cause yer orange!
DanTrek: ts more than that. But fortunately I chose not to follow the traditions of my people ::He noticed her exhaustion:: You don't seem to be doing so well, Doctor. I could provide with mental assistance.
Deis: Mental Assistance..? ::stopping, her head hanging exhaustedly:: Like...a...mindmeld?
DanTrek: A mindmeld is only in Vulcans. We call it the Mind Bridge. I could use it to transfer some of my energy and calmness to you.
Deis: Do what ye need Commander...i canna go further ::and once again, falls back against the wall of the tube system::
DanTrek: That is evident. Stay still.
::He came over to her, and places his hand on the side of her face. He closed his eyes, and channeled energy through his hand into her body::
::Her eyes had closed but they open again as her heartbeat picks up swiftly, the washing of energy flowing through her and restoring her::
::He removes his hand::
DanTrek: How do you feel?
::She sits up rather quickly...and then kinda does a full body doublecheck* I feel...fine.. :looks back at Dantrek* Tha is amazin!
DanTrek: It is often used in the healing process among my people. We are all trained to do it before entering the Defense Force. However, my skill is more advanced due to my age.
::Dies begins crawling again, this time asking nosy doctor questions* An so how old are ye?
DanTrek: I am 145 years old
::Deis blinks and skids to a stop so quickly that the poor Orange Commander bumps into her hind end* Ach! ye could be me great great great...a lotta great grand Fathers ::giggling a bit as she slides out of the final tunnel, back into one of the ship corridors:: Ah...here we are
::DanTrek climbs out after her:: Well actually I have a great-great-granddaughter thats about your age
::She laughs* Ah well then there ye go ::heading immediatly off for the Sickbay::
::He follows her to Sickbay::
::She didnt expect the Commander to return with her so once inside...into the chaos...she turns and asks* Thank ye fer helpin me...didja need anythin else?
DanTrek: Actually no, I just came to get this ::He picked up the site-to-site transporters off the floor:: I'll be going to the Bridge now
Deis: Oh! ::smiling a bit and nodding: Oh do me a wee favor. Once yer on th bridge lemme know how th people are commin. if th gas works slowly i can come round with hypos.
DanTrek: Will do. ::He set it for the Bridge, and beamed himself there::
Smith: Commander?
DanTrek: Well, since my best people were here, I decided to join you. Besides, we have more control over the ship from the Bridge than Engineering anyway. How is everyone doing? Has the vaccine worked yet?
Smith: Yes, we seem to be fine.
DanTrek: Good =/\= DanTrek to Dr. Irae. The vaccine seems to be working, Doctor =/\=
Deis: =/\=Thank ye Commander. Each man still woozy or sick feelin need come to Sickbay for hydration. Irae out=/\=

Post by Savot on Apr 8, 2004 6:03:17 GMT
Savot's mental essence hovered at the center of his consciousness, hovering amidst the chaos that the virus was wreaking on his body. He looked like a famous conductor, directing the healing efforts of his vulcan physiology from problem area to problem area, trying to hold his failing body together long enough for a cure to be found.
His efforts were valiant, but even his Vulcan efficiency began to lose the battle, his grasp of the healing techniques was fading, his concentration dwindled, his katra blinked in and out as would a faulty hologram. The mental image he created for himself fell slowly to the floor, struggling on its knees for a moment, then finally falling completely to the "ground". The image that came next was that of a wave raising up to swallow someone as it crashed down...
Just then, the wave lost its intensity, and Savot's soul gained stability and ceased blinking out. Savot's cloudy mind searched for a rationale behind it, and after several moments of clouded thought, remembered it must be that Doctor Irae had succeeded in finding a cure. She has a brilliant mind, tempered by a caring heart. This task stood no chance against her. He thought pleasantly, proud of Miss Deis with whom his friendship was ever growing. After letting the serum work for what seemed a few moments, but in actuality was several hours, Savot summoned up the strength to open his eyes, and turn his consciousness outwards.
He lifted his head up barely an inch, before quaking with weakness and dropping it back onto the biobed. He held back the moan that most people would have given voice to. He opened and closed his eyes a few times, until one of the times he opened them, he saw a familiar face starring down at him.
"Doncha be worryin' aboot gettin' out of bed just yet, Commander. Even if ye were strong enough, which ye're not by the way, the containment fields're are active. An' they're gonna stay active until Ah'm sure both you and Commander Traks are out of danger.", she smiled a sweet grin, this was the only payback she had available at the moment for Savot's life-threatening mind meld to wake her up, so she was going to enjoy it to the fullest.
Savot started to speak, in his tradition use of words unnecessarily large for the given situation, but found he couldn't summon up the energy for all that just now. "I... am glad you... are well, Doctor..... The ship..."
Deis held a hand up to stop him, "The ship's in good 'ands. Smith and Dantrek are doin' what they can for 'er now.", she smiled, she hadn't missed the pure honesty in Savot's statement. The first thing he mentioned was her well being, even before the ship, his duty. That was the sort of thing that made it easy to be friends with this unusual Vulcan.
As she smiled again, she subtly hit a button on the biobed which induced a sleeping state in the Ops chief, and ran some scans before heading to her other duties, to make sure things were going smoothly in both vulcans' recovery.

Kivan didn't know how long he had been asleep, but when he woke up he realised that it had probably been the longest sleep of his life. The minute he did wake up, he tried to sit up, but he might aswell have tried with a ton of bricks on him. He couldnt move a muscle.
* Dammit * he thought to himself. * This virus is worse than I thought. *
He opened his eyes and he saw the Doctor standing above him.
"Doctor Irae, I can't move." Kivan mumbled.
"Don't worry, Lieutenant, it's perfectly natural if ye canna move. You'll be like that fer the next few hours." she said as she put him to sleep.

Remeti blinked. She felt worse than when KArtok tried to teach her that klingon attack move and she hadn't backed off fast enough. IN fact this was much worse than that. And she didn't think that was possible.
She played back the last few moments she remebered. Intruder!! she thought. She made to move. SHe couldn't. The effort was too much. SHe fell back. Falling back raised even more questions.
Where in universe was she?

::Now before DanTrek was the awesome task of taking back control of the Computer. Investigating the systems, he discovered that the computer virus had put extremely complex security lock-outs over each system. And there were several layers of them::
Smith: So what have we got, Commander?
DanTrek: Well, we're facing several layers of complex lock-outs...on each individual system. It'll a long time to punch through them all.
Smith: Get control of the Environmental systems, first. If we can't do anything else, at least we'll be able to control this ship enough to ensure our own survival.
DanTrek: Aye, sir.
Pearsons: It looks like its mostly complicated encryption protocols.
Johnson: So why don't we use the usual decryption routines?
Paria: Because we dont have access to those. The virus will keep us from getting to them.
DanTrek: Indeed. From what we can tell, this is an adaptive virus. It'll attempt to counter our efforts.
Joktel: What if we distract it?
Smith: You can't distract a computer like this.
DanTrek: Well actually, sir, thats a valid idea. Keep it busy.
Paria: So if we divide up the systems...
DanTrek: It wont know which to watch. Paria and I will handle environmental systems. Pearsons, defensive systems; Johnson, tactical. Stevens, navigation; Joktel, sensor grid.
::They each nodded in turn::
DanTrek: Let's get working

:: Deis now checks over the awakened Remeti Lucas, running her tricorders all over the place. Checking tonsils that sort of thing. After a few moments she turns off the girls biobed and speaks to her::
A'righ Miss Lucas, ye are fit as a fiddle. Ye may return t yer duties now. But come back here fer a checkup t'morrow.
::clearing out the padd, Deis lets Remeti leave the sickbay and then turns her attention to her last patients of the moment...the two vulcans::
:: Doctor Irae walks up to her inhibitor field and begins tapping out commands on the console. There is a flashing of bluish light and then the field blinks out of existance, freeing the poor Vulcans from its confines. She walks inside and presses fingertips to each biobed, letting them wake up naturally. She smiles to herself looking down on her friend, Savot and then speaks to both of them::
Time t wake up Gentlemen. Ye got work t be doin.

Remeti nodded as the Dr. proclaimed her fit for duty. She headed for the bridge. SHe was a little sleepy but that probably was normal. Oh well time to figure out waht the heck had happened.
