First Officers Log. Supplimental.
Were headin back t'wards th Assailant a' Warp 7. Our current mission be finished an th Captain recieved some grave news. Were headin in t give th man a bit o leave time wi' his family. Upon recievin orders a' th Assailant we may possibly 'ave t 'ead on t earth. It would be a pleasant visit...have nae been Home since i joined Starfleet...
:: Commander Deis Irae sits in the captains chair during the late night shift once again, this time were sailing home, towards the Assailant, and then possibly all the way to Earth. She finishes her log and then turns the console off, looking up and out of the viewing screen, like a window out into space. Captain Smith had spoken with her earlier that day, when he found out the news that his Father had suffered a serious health lapse...a heart attack that rendered him hospitalized, with complications.::
:: Deis herself is tempted to offer help once we get to Earth, to the doctors available to Smiths family...but really. Why would they need an extra thats a bit out of practice. During the short visit Captain Smith told Deis that she would be required to take on the position of Captain temporarily, effective immediatly. When she asked why so soon he explained...his emotional state restricted him from thinking clearly...therefor he relieved himself of duty for the duration of the trip, personal time.::
:: Deis respected that and agreed, leaving his ready room and wishing she wouldnt have her first chance at command...for such a terrible reason. But, the job is the job and she must do it, and with fervor. So she sits during the late night shift, watching our way back to the Assailant::

Kevin was bouncing off the walls... literally. The officer next door was demanding to be let in. Kevin floated over to the anti-gravity field generator he'd been working on and turned it off. Then he went and oppened the door. It was Captain Smith.
Oops.
Kevin: "Erm... glad to see you, sir... you look tired."
Steve::barely awake:: "Just...just go to sleep... what were you doing?"
Kevin: "Playing with a new toy. Its an anti-gravity field generator. I like it. You can use it to train people in zero-G if you want."
This seemed to wake the Captain up, because he seemed to suddenly become more anxious.
Steve: "No... no, thats quite all right, you can train - no Irae can train... nevermindI'mgoing back to bed..."
The CO walked back to his cabin, leaving Kevin standing in the doorway, wondering how it had been just his luck to get the room next to Captain Smith. Savot wouldn't have minded Kevin bouncing off the walls...probably. And Irae... well, that might have been worse. Oh, well, at least he hadn't been stuck in between Irae and Smith's quarters. That would be a nightmare.
Commander Irae appeared at the far end of the hallway. Seeing Kevin to still be awake, and in his uniform, she approached him.
Irae: "Can't sleep?"
Kevin: "Nope. I'm an insomniac. The Captain seems pretty tired, though..."
Irae: "Okay. Hey, if you don't need to sleep that much, you could take the command chair for a while. It would let you experience all the excitement of being a commanding officer." A small chuckle followed the last sentence.
Kevin: "Um, sure, I guess."
Irae::grinning:: "That's an order."
Then the First Officer turned and walked straight into the cabin next to Kevin's. For a moment, the Science Officer stared in horror. Then he groaned - he WAS stuck inbetween Irae and the Captain. Reluctantly, Kevin headed towards the Bridge.

::Luckily for Deis, there were several higher ranked individuals on nightshift that night, so letting a LT. take the "throne" was no problem. She sent Zimmerman off with a lil smile and then heads into her quarters.::
:: Once inside she rmoves herself from her uniform and steps into the solar shower. The odd raybeams of light suffuse her nudeness, rendering her completly clean, even her hair though it remains up and braided. When she emerges theres a blinking light on her console.::
::She quickly steps into a robe and then sits down in front of the console, turning it on. The screen powers up and luckily its not a live transmission...cause shes in her bathrobe. Its a simple subspace relayed message, that scrolls up in colored text over the screen. It reads::
~El Salvador orders return to Earth. 2 week shore leave for crew. Permission code, Alpha Alpha Quasar.~
:: Deis smiles seeing that we did get the GOOD orders in. Immediatly she retrieves her commbadge from her discarded uniform and presses the button. The double chirp sounds on the bridge, as does her voice::
=/\=Irae t' Zimmerman=/\=
=/\=Aye Commander?=/\=
=/\='Ave helm lay in a course fer Earth. Warp 7 continues. Engage it, yourself Lieutenant. I will be in my quarters do need fer me arrise. Commander Savot, please assist Lt. Zimmerman=/\=
::both voices come back to her at once::
=/\=Understood Commander=/\=
:: Deis then smiles, thinking even nearly unmanned, shes got a good crew. She takes one of the many padds full of work waiting for her and gets down to it. Sometimes insomnia can be your friend::

For several minutes Kevin sat in the command chair, having nothing to do. He felt very ignorant. What was he supposed to do? And what did Captain Smith do when he sat in the chair? Kevin didn't have any important assignments. He looked around the Bridge. Even Savot seemed bored.

Savot: "Do you require assistance, Lt. Zimmerman?"
Kevin: "No, not really. In fact... are you entirely happy with you station at Ops, sir? 'Cause I've got this great command chair waiting for you to sit down in it... I'll trade you positions."
Savot: "I believe Commander Irae has ordered you to the command chair."
Kevin::mumbling:: "Hell of a lot to do in a command chair when you have no command."
Savot gave the smallest hint of a smile. Kevin tapped his commbadge.
Kevin: "Zimmerman to Commander Irae. We are en route to Earth, at the speed you requested. And sir... could you please order me to another assignment? Frankly, I'm rather bored."
Irae: =^= Patience is a virtue you need to lear, Mr. Zimmerman. Stay where you are. =^=
Kevin::unhappily:: "For how long, may I ask?"
Irae: =^= Until the Captain or I take the chair back.=^=
Kevin slumped in the chair, feeling too small. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. Quickly he typed a message into his counsel. It read;
"Dr. Kalen, please order me to Sickbay. I'm sure I need a physical or something. And while you're there, give me a very strong narcotic. Make sure I'm asleep before I leave Sickbay.
Lt. Zimmerman"

About 8 and a half minutes had passed since Commander Irae's chiding response to Lt. Zimmerman's attempts to escape the big chair. Savot sat working at his Ops console, monitoring shipwide status reports but there was indeed little of importance to do.
The young Lieutenant went through all sorts of anxious manuevers, due to the combination of anxiety, boredom, and lack of sleep. The wringing of his hands for a minute or so was then replaced by the tapping of his left foot against the deck, until finally the silent hum of bridge work was broken by a message over intercomm. =^= Lt. Zimmerman, this is Kalen. Please report to sickbay. Might as well get your routine physical taken care of while we're on our way home. =^=
Zimmerman's face lit up as he nearly lept from the center seat and tapped his commbadge in reply. =^= Sure thing, Doctor. Be right down. =^=
Savot spun in his console as the dialogue concluded, rising to take the command chair to relieve Zimmerman. "An... intriguingly convenient coincidence Lieutenant. However, I do hereby relieve you. You may make haste to your examination."
The Lieutenant was so distracted with glee at escape for a moment that he had to think about the proper response, since he hadn't actually had to do it before. "Ah... Oh. I stand relieved. Thank you sir, goodnight." He nodded his head to the vulcan and barely kept himself from jogging the 8 feet to the turbolift doors.
As the lift whooshed open and closed taking the science chief down into the belly of the vessel, Commander Savot sat in the command chair of the El Salvador B, watching the pinpricks of space fly past the viewscreen before flipping open an arm console and creating a rough draft leave schedule for the ship's crew to present to Commander Irae for her approval and/or revision.

Kalen: "Surgery. Some idiot turned off the safty features on the holodeck and went skydiving."
Kevin: "Tough luck. I guess I should actually have a physical?"

Irae: =/\=Irae to Commander Savot=/\=
Savot: =/\=Yes Commander?=/\=
Irae: =/\=Tell me. Be Mr. Zimmerman on th bridge?=/\=
Savot: =/\=No Commander. He is not. Dr. Kalen seemed to require his presence in sickbay...rather suddenly. I have taken Command, we are now 15 hours 23 minutes from Earth.=/\=
:: Deis nods, her lips pursed with a brow raised in irritation. She taps her Commbadge again and answers Savot:: =/\=Thank you Mr. Savot. I shall be on the bridge soon. But first...=/\= :: she leave the rest of that unsaid and leaves her quarters, zipping the throat of her uniform up as she goes. She taps her commbadge smartly and signals Sickbay, having been monitering the comms all evening.::
=/\=Irae t' Sickbay=/\=

=/\=I understand tha' Mr. Zimmerman be currently recievin treatment in sickbay?=/\=
=/\=Yes Commander, he is.=/\=
=/\=Good. Please inform him tha' 'e is confined t' sickbay until we arrive a' Earth. We shall discuss his shore leave privalages, an wether he recieves any when we arrive. Irae out. =/\=
::And with that she cuts off the comms, knowing Zimmerman had to hear her pronouncement. Hoping he realizes its better than outright courtmarshal for disobedience of a direct order of a Superior officer::
:: She steps grimly into the turbolift and announces:: Bridge ::standing there as the whirring downward begins and then the woosh of the door opening comes again. She steps out and heads through the sliding doors into the bridge, where Savot sits in "Th' Chair". She speaks immediatly with unhidden annoyance in her lilting irish earthen voice:: Sorry i tried t give th boy th experience. Ill nae do tha again soon. He obviously thinks tha ill nae resort t discipline...:: she then sighs and sits down at Comm, not dislodging Savot from the chair, muttering:: damn shoddy discipline...

(OFF: Actually, Dr. Kalen should have drugged me by the time you called...)
Kevin woke up several hours later. He hadn't slept that long for years. Normally, he averaged three or four hours of sleep. He felt unusually energized.
That might be a problem if Irae made him sit in the #@$*ing chair again.
Dr. Kalen came over to Kevin, who was lying on a bed. The Doctor seemed amused. Kevin suddenly wondered how out-of-line he might have been in escaping the command chair. Perhaps he shouldn't have asked for the narcotic...
Kalen: "I have a message for you, Lt. Zimmerman. It seems Commander Irae does not approve of your... erm... escape."
Kevin: "I have no idea what she's talking about."
Kalen: "You had a physical fairly recently. And the narcotic was a tad bit obvious. Tell me, why didn't you want the command chair?"
Kevin: "Its boring. I can't do anything there. Especially when several other people on the Bridge outrank me... and I don't want the command. As long as I stay in the Science Department, I'll be safe. I can do more or less what I want, I don't need to worry about anything except- By the way, where are your quarters located?"
Kalen: "On the same deck as yours, of course. Why?"
Kevin: "Well, if you arn't the neighboor of Commander Irae or Captain Smith, could I trade you rooms? I'm stuck inbetween both of them."
Kalen::grinning:: "Not for a while. If I keep doing things for you, it might make me look like your partner in crime."
Kevin frowned. It seemed he would need to stay on Captain Smith's good side. Then at least one of his commanding officers wouldn't be liable to jump on him. Speaking of commanding officers...
Kevin: "Did Irae do anything? About my... escape?"
Kalen: "I was getting there. You can't leave Sickbay, and I think you might not get shore leave."
Kevin: "Damn it. I was ready to go skiing in the Alps..."
Kalen: "Tough luck. Oh, and I suppose you'd better check in with me when you wake up. You might wwant to think of a good defense in your 'sleep.' It is standard protocol for a patient to check in with the CMO after they wake up, you know. "
Kevin: "Thanks, Doc."
Kalen: "No problem."

The next few days of travel passed without incident, the crew getting their plans in line for their shore leave after receiving their scheduled times from Commander Irae. Finally came time for the mighty vessel to come down from warp in the home Terran solar system. The streaks of stars shrunk down in an instant to the normal star pinpricks as the ship slowed to impulse power and approached Spacedock in orbit around the blue-white orb of planet Earth.
"Spacedock reports we are clear for approach and docking in berth 17. Spacedoors are...open.", came the report from Savot at the front of the bridge in his Ops chair. Transmitting coordinates for approach to the ensign currently at the helm.
Commander Irae still held the center seat, as Captain Smith was currently in his quarters gathering the last of his things in his duffel for immediate transport to Earth as soon as the ship docked. "Acknowledged, El Salvador confirms. Helm, approach as vectored, 1 quarter impulse power."
The bridge crew obediently set about their tasks to bring the ship to a proper docked position within the Spacedock. Captain Smith left with few words except the routine goodbyes and good lucks, but his heart was obviously not in it as he was distracted by his father's condition. The bridge crew gave their good wishes and he was on his way without further delay.
Commander Savot had no specific plans as yet, and so for the time being sat at his Ops console conducting various routine business. Commander Irae came back on the bridge, just stepping off the turbolift for a moment. "Lieutenant Zimmerman, in the future ye are to consider orders from a superior officer to be followed t' tha letter without question. I am not without understanding for the periodic boredom of the center seat, but Starfleet is not a place to make loopholes for our personal benefit. Ye are to remain aboard ship for the first week of shore leave, conducting full diagnostics on all ship systems and seeing to it that everythin's in pristine order. Ye make disembark for your own shore leave during the second week. Keep ye in mind that the consequences could've been a might higher. And when ye get to it, do enjoy your leave."
The Commander spoke with a firm hand through the majority of her orders, softening just a bit at the end so the entire experience wasn't quite so unpleasant. Lieutenant Zimmerman gulped during the lecture, and nodded when she was finished. "Aye aye ma'am, thank you I will." Afterwards he stood still counting down the tense seconds until Irae had gotten back on the turbolift and left the bridge, and which point the Lt. let out a relieved breath and started about his business.

Well, that wasn't so bad, thought Kevin as Irae exited the Bridge again. Over the next several hours, almost everyone on the El Salvador departed for Earth via shuttlecraft or transporter. Soon, Kevin and Savot were the only senior staff left on the Bridge. After making sure everyone was accounted for, Savot turned to Kevin.
Savot: "I assume I can leave the ship in your hands, Lt. Undoubtably, your efforts at command will be better this week than they were during your last attempt."
Kevin: "Yep. Don't worry about anything. Oh, how many people are still on board the ship, sir?"
Savot: "Including you? About three. An engineer, who seems to have no desire to visit Earth, you, and myself."
Kevin: "Ah... very well then. Have a nice time planetside, sir."
Savot: "Thank you, Lt. Zimmerman. Goodbye."
Kevin stayed standing until Savot had left, and then looked around the Bridge. It was far too quiet for Kevin's likes, but he was doomed to checking every system on the ship... he began with the sensors.

After only three days, Kevin had checked the warp core, the impulse engines, the sensors, the deflector shields, thhe pashers, the photon torpedoes, the transporters, etc., and had taken great care in making sure that every single shuttle had preformed well when he had flown them. Most minor systems, such as EPS conduits, holodecks, replicators, and turbolifts, didn't need to be checked, but Kevin checked them anyway. He was contemplating contacting the only other person who was on the ship, since four days remained before Kevin could take his shore leave.
Kevin: "Computer, please state the name of the crewmember or officer who is currently on board the El Salvador - er, the one that isn't me."
Computer: "There are currently five people on board the USS El Salvador."
Kevin::frowning:: "Please state their names, position, and rank, in order of highest to lowest."
Computer: "Lt. Kevin Zimmerman, Chief Science Officer; Ensign Henry Romrell, Security; Ensign Elizabeth Habsburg, Engineering; and two unidentified humans."
Kevin: "Why wasn't I notified of their arrival?"
Computer: "Arrival of Ensign Henry Romrell and the two unidentified humans was classified by Ensign Romrell's security code. Ensign Habsburg has not left the El Salvador for approximately seven months."
Kevin looked around nerviously, as if expecting someone to jump out at him. He stood up and walked over to the turbolift.
Kevin: "Computer, locate Ensigns Romrell and Habsburg, and the two visitors."
Computer: "Ensign Romrell and the two unidentified humans are in Engineering. Ensign Habsburg is in her quarters."
Kevin stepped into the holodeck and headed for the armory. When he got to the armory, he picked up a type-two phaser rifle and a smaller, type-one phaser.
Kevin: "Computer, transmit emergency message to Commander Irae."
Computer: "A diagnostic is being run on the subspace transmissions. The communications network is down."
Kevin didn't bother asking who had done it. He began walking towards Engineering, then stopped. If he was going to attempt to win back the El Salv from whoever was trying to take it, he'd need as much firepower as he could get.
Kevin: "Computer, direct me to Ensign Habsburg's quarters."
(Tag: people on leave. Don't worry, I'll have this wrapped up before my week of torment is over.)

Habsburg::from inside her quarters:: "Who is it?"
Kevin: "Lt. Zimmerman. I need your help."
Several moments later, Elizabeth appeared in her uniform. She stared at the phasers Kevin held.
Habsburg: "What are you doing with those?"
Kevin::handing her the smaller phaser:: "Someon's attempting to either steal or sabatouge the El Salvador. They're in Engineering, so you'll know the way around. Besides, there's three of them, so it'd help if you were there."
Habsburg::taking the phaser:: "All right, sir. If I may be so bold, why are you still here?"
Kevin::the two begin walking towards Engineering:: "I, um, sneaked away from the command chair Commander Irae put me in, and so she ordered me to stay on the ship and run diagnostics the first week of shore leave. What about you?"
Habsburg: "I never liked Earth. And I had a very bad experience the last time I stayed there, so I'd rather not go back."
The two approached Engineering. Kevin took a deep breath, and checked his assault rifle; it was fully charged.
Kevin::nervously:: "I'll take point."
Elizabeth nodded, and Kevin charged into Engineering. A startled Ensign Romrell looked up from a computer station where two other people were busy working. Elizabeth stunned Romrell and one of the two civilians. Kevin kept his rifle aimed at the remaining person's head, who raised his hands into the air and slowly stood up.
Kevin: "State you name, your friend's, and why you are here."
Fos: "I am Alexander Fos. My "friend" is a shapeshifter. I don't know his name. As for why we're here, the shapeshifter told me he was a mercenary, and that he was paid to steal a Federation starship. He wanted me to help him with the technical details, since he isn't very good with computers. And that officer was needed to get us into the ship. We were both going to be paid by the shapeshifter in gold-pressed latinum; and, of course, he threatened us with our lives if we didn't cooperate."
While in the Academy, Kevin had met Dimitri Fos, a fellow cadet. Kevin wondered if they were related.
Kevin: "Thank you for your cooperation."
Elizabeth stunned Alexander, and Kevin checked that they were all unconcious. He then took them to the brig, and checked them with a medical tricorder. Alexander had told the truth about the shapeshifter. After instructing Elizabeth to guard the prisoners, Kevin rerouted full control to the Bridge (Alexander had been trying to transfer it to Engineering), and tried to contact Commander Irae. Unfourtunately, he couldn't reach her. Kevin couldn't contact Savot, or Dr. Kalen either. Since he couldn't reach any of his superior officer, Kevin decided to keep the three prisoners in an induced coma by pumping narcotics into the brig. For the next day or two, Kevin and Elizabeth took turns watching the prisoner to make sure none of them made an unexpected recovery. Finally, Kevin recieved a transmission from Earth...

=^= Commander Savot to Lieutenant Zimmerman. If you are prepared to give a status report on the ship's systems I believe I can grant your shore leaver earlier than originally.... =^=, the message began, but Savot couldn't finish before Zimmerman tapped his commbadge in reply and began speaking hurriedly.
=^= There's no time for that sir! We have a situation onboard, 2 infiltrators and 1 turncoat officer are locked in the brig. We've been trying to contact you or Commander Irae for 2 days but they had the comm system down. Can you come up? I'd like to turn this over to a higher authority. =^=
The Vulcan blinked as he stood in the courtyard of Starfleet academy in San Francisco, California, then tapped his badge once more. =^= Understood Mr. Zimmerman, I shall contact the Commander and we will both signal you when we are ready for beam up. The transporter should be able to locate our signal when we call now that the communication systems are back online. I commend you on your care of the ship. Stand by. Savot out. =^=
Savot raised an eyebrow in slight confusion that anyone would seriously attempt such an infiltration while docked at Spacedock with a multitude of security personnel. This was either a complete shot in the dark job, or a masterfully planned attempt that just happened to stumble upon an unknown variable... the young Science Chief. Facially shrugging to push aside the hypothesizing, Savot tapped his commbadge to locate and signal Commander Irae.

:: Deis walks back through the ships airlock just absolutly ticked off, you can tell by the set of her shoulders and the way she walks...oh also the fact that shes shouting:: Wha in th ELL be goin on aboard this damned ship! ::yes cussing as well. we couldnt have a simple trip home...mercenaries of all things.::
:: Commander Savot watches her as they walk with that quizzical expression as shes far from professional. Shes not wearing her uniform as she had already gone "out into the world". She walks into the Brigroom with Savot in tow wearing a rather delicate sundress of oranges and yellows, the skirt to the floor. Rather flowery dress for inside a starship but, well, leave is leave. Once inside the Brigroom she expects to see prisoners staring angrily back through the force shielding...but what greets her eyes shocks her to silence amidst her shouting::
Dinnae tell me tha Kalen drugged these people...:: but seeing the faint gaseous pouring from one of the ceiling vents she can see that yes, he doped these people to the gills so there would be no chance of them escaping. While this isnt illegal persay its certainly against regulation. She cant recieve a statement from them until they awaken. She reaches up and taps...nothing on her chest as her commbadge is in her purse. She digs around in this for a moment and pulls it out, hitting the chime::
=/\=Irae to Sickbay, Doctor turn this narcotic off in th brig. We need these men a' least lucid fer th judges. =/\=
=/\= Aye Commander! =/\= ::comes Kalens responce and thus the gas ceases to leak from the ceiling vent.::
:: Deis asks this question of Savot as Zimmerman walks in the brigroom looking rather anxious and excited at the same time.:: Who in their roight moind would try t be stealin a Promethius class ship...IN spacedock. At Earth...in th middle o all Starfleet?!
:: Savot ponders the question and then gives the logical answer:: I would before have said noone Commander...but obviously these people would.
:: Deis sighs and then looks to Zimmerman...she has to give him his props...though under punishment he still managed to take care of the problem before it really got started so she must laud him for that:: Well done Mr. Zimmerman...consider yer faux pas medical treatment t be wiped from th board...ill nae mention it in me report. Id say ye balanced it off. Give t me yer full report an then ye can "leave", effective immediatly.
:: Thusly Zimmerman looks a little more relaxed. He anticipated the need for the report so hands over to her a padd, with his entire story on it. Deis looks over it for a moment and then nods* Begone then...ye did well.
Aye Maam. ::He gives her a little smile and then takes off, not waiting around for her to change her mind. As he goes the people inside the brig are beginning to rouse blearily, having been stoned out the entire stay in the brig...none of them know where they are, nor can any of them even SEE straight yet. It will be an hour or two before she can question them. She turns and looks at Savot, chuckling and putting the padd in her purse, putting her commbadge back on:: Well then...Enjoy YER leave Savot...looks loike i got charges t file. Starfleet security will be wantin these gents. Go on ahead an get yer some R&R.
::and thusly dissappointed for her own visit home she sits down at the nearest console and begins contacting Headquarters, arrainging pickup for these rather extremly foolhardy criminals::

Kevin was glad to rid of the troublesome criminals. He was going to pay attention to their trials, of course... and Starfleet might want him to give his recolection of what had happened.... but for now, Kevin was content to merely take his leave. After he finally got some sleep, of course. He'd been up for almost 72 hours without more than an hour or two of sleep. (He'dbeen running ship diagnostics for almost a whole day before he found Fos, Romrell, and the shapeshifter. Then, he'd had to watch them for most of the time leading up to Commander Irae's and Commander Savot's arrival.)
Zimmerman took a shuttle down to Switzerland; specifically, a small town next to the Matterhorn. Despite its popularity as a skiing resort, the area had not attracted too many people, for various reasons. One was the fact that other mountains on other planets were bigger, or had less frequent storms. Another reason was that skiing was not terribely popular. Besides, even if someone did enjoy skiing, they could do so in a holodeck. Personally, Kevin still enjoyed the real thing.
After sleeping for five hours, he woke up and took his borrowed shuttle to the top of one of the smaller mountains. Kevin wanted to warm up before he took on thhe larger, harder trails. He jumped out the back of the shuttlecraft, skiis on, and went down the mountain. The mountain was full of moguls at first, but then leveled out into a smooth slope. Luckily, it had not iced over. Kevin took his time on that part of the mountain before encountering more moguls, larger than the previous ones. Once to the bottom of the mountain, Kevin called the shuttlecraft down to him. The automatic pilot landed the shuttlecraft right in front of Kevin. It promised to be an excellent day.

:: Deis, of course, ends up sitting in the observation lounge using that comm to make the numerous calls she needs to make to get the judicial ball rolling for these "mercenaries". Over 5 hours of effort shes gone through numerous vid conversations, given depositions and exchanged evidential information. Finally someone has agreed to come and pick up the criminals and see to their interrogations and then subsequential sentencing. Shes actually quite conversant with these procedures having done them once before with the Murderer Captain.::
::in between calls she sighs thinking about that incident...Vreenak killed...her mind spiraling back to the adventures of old...things seem to have changed. She momentarily misses the simpler duties of the ships doctor...but how better to honor ones Fathers memory than to bring the name of Commander to the list...perhaps someday even captain of her own ship. This makes her quirk a smile and snort laughter thinking of her favorite ship...true its not the grandest of military power ships, but still its grace attracts her even to this day, the Galaxy class. Her father once called it "The Caddilac of the Stars, me gurl."::
:: Shes drawn from her frivolous musings by the hissing of the obvservation lounge doors opening...she looks up and then gives a faint tired smile, having at some point changed back into her uniform...too many of the beaurocrats asked about the dress::
Commander, Jag has arrived to take custody of the perpetrators....:: says the vulcan standing in the doorway::
Thank ye Savot ::just dropping the formality for a moment...shes been dealing with it all day:: Let us go an get rid o these guys... ::then she heads out the door with him, heading on to the brig areas::

Savot nods his acknowledgement and falls in step beside the Commander, hands clasped behind his back as per usual. Suddenly Deis' head pops up, albeit slowly since she is in fact worn out, and turns to him with a curious expression. "Savot, why in blazes are ye onboard anyway? I told ye you could get back t' whatever leave you be desirin'."
"As you remained onboard to deal with our security situation, I found it appropriate to remain as well in case you required any assistance. There would be a lack of justice involved for you to hold vigil alone, when you would likely benefit more from such a vacation than I myself", the vulcan replied with a bow of his head as they walked towards the brig.
Stopping just outside, Deis turned fully to face him with a small grin, "Ye mean it'd be unfair?", pointing out the much easier way to get out what he'd been conveying.
Savot raised an eyebrow, "As I said, Commander Irae", confused as to why she felt the need to repeat his statement. The vulcan was only now beginning to see that his dialogue might perhaps work just as effectively with most races without the large words they often saw as unnecessary. He twisted his lips considering this and decided to file it away for further thought and future experimentation perhaps.
Deis chuckled lightly and entered the brig, where the JAG officials waited to do the official in-person transfer of custody. The man went through his by the book formality, to which Deis applied the appropriate counterformality, accepted the man's salute with professionalism, then breathed out a heavy sigh as they all, prisoners and JAG personnel, left the ship.
"Thank the laird that's over an' done with", she sighed again and refocussed her eyes against the strain she'd put them through the past hours. With a wry, cynnical, smile she turned to her vulcan companion, "Well Mr. Savot, what crisis lay before us now then?", she ended with another soft chuckle, preparing simply to go rest in her quarters before remaining aboard.
The vulcan, responding to her question as though it were serious, stated his take on it exactly, "As of this time the sole remaining priority is to see that the First Officer receives adequate leave time and enjoyment to ensure she is able to continue her duties afterwards without accruing stress fatigue", Deis started to shake her head and open her mouth but the vulcan continued on, "I have already arranged for the security around not only our own but all vessels in Spacedock to be doubled and the boarding procedures have been updated to security status 4. The El Salvador will not fall victim while you are away for a week. I have concluded my lecture at Starfleet Academy which was the entirety of my scheduled activities, and am therefore capable of remaining aboard and reporting to you as often as you desire, should you wish."
Deis just stood there a moment, unsurprised by Savot's thoroughness in dealing with security, but caught off guard by the whole statement nonetheless due to her indeed built up stress over the past several hours.

:: Deis smiles, feeling ever so slightly sorry for Savot, though shes sure he wouldnt appreciate, or even understand why:: I 'ave another idear. E'er been t Ireland?
The vulcan tilts his head just slightly to the side, elevating his chin as he speaks. "I have not had cause to partake of that particular region of Earth as yet, though I understand it is your native land is it not?
Aye it is. I've nae been back home since i left wi Starfleet. I 'ave a respect t pay...:: she cant believe shes asking a vulcan to come to a graveyard in Inishmoor Ireland with her:: Yer welcome t come wi me iffen yed rather...its tha or be stuck aboard...an tha ::laughs:: isna fair to you.
Tilting his head to the opposite side, raising an eyebrow slightly at Deis' unexpected invitation he replies, "Though I disagree with your final statement, I am honored by your invitation and would not refuse such an opportunity to observe a location with a respected colleague." He pauses for a moment in thought before speaking again, a puzzled look upon his light green face, "Forgive me Commander but what accessories do you advise taking? Though I am versed in the basic geography and weather of your Ireland, it is more logical to trust in your practical experience."
:: she looks pleased that he wishes to go with her and thinks for a moment:: Hmm..mayhaps an umbrella...it rains. Other than tha...only yerself. If yer curious bring ye a tricorder...maybe a good pair o walkin boots ::looking down at the regulation ones he wears and then her own, nodding:: Forst we need t change...get into whae'er ye find comfortable. Dinnae worry bout blendin in...
As though it were a shipboard order he nods crisply and his arms drop to his sides. "Aye, Commander. I shall ready myself quickly and rendevous with you at the primary umbillical clamp on deck 5." His body shifts not a full inch before he pauses, turning his head back to Deis. "And Commander, thank you for the invitation." With that he is gone before she can respond.
::the commander stands there for a moment, smiling, thinking at the very least this will be an interesting trip. Too bad it wouldnt be Market Day. She pivots and heads towards her quarters and gets on the comms as soon as shes inside, sending message that the El Salvador is under R&R for the next week. Then leaving behind a security team who had their leave the first week. After this is done she goes through her closet and takes out something simple...a peasant shirt with a brightly colored vest atop it, dark brown closely fitting trousers and good walking boots. She tucks her communicator into a pocket and then takes her umbrella. Looking at her reflection she considers the past, and what might have been. Her eyes leave her reflection and she shakes herself from old despondency...she takes one thing from the room, a ribbon, the one given to her by the Academy when she graduated. She tucks this away with her commbadle and then heads out, to the rendevous place::
Off: This was a joint post by me and Savot obviously, finished by Moi. We may do several of these.

Commander Savot heads off towards his quarters, considering what might blend the best with the Irish countryside. Hes never visited the area so chooses the easy method. Once inside his quarters, he summons up the ships computer.:: "Computer, show an approximation of dress, and local costumes for Earth, Ireland, Inishmoor. Current time period." The computer wizzes through several costumes, some of them female...many of them female. He narrows the search. "Computer narrow search parameters to male costumes."
The computer wizzes through the holos again and this time comes across several outfits of interest. After scrolling through several he chooses his outfit. A dark red button up collared cotton shirt tucked into blue jeans, brown boots hidden beneath the blue denam, a peeking of white beneath the outer shirt indicating a second. He wishes to look "casual" so makes modifications to the outfit to make it more comfortable in appearance, unbuttoning the reddish shirt a few to show the contrast of color from the white shirt beneath, rolling up the sleeves to the elbows. He finds this method of dress slightly less comfortable than a starfleet uniform, and immensely less so than good vulcan robes. He finds it facinating that humans call the less comfortable clothing "casual".
A backpack of various things he takes with this, slinging it over one shoulder and then peering into the mirror. He can find no fault in his manner of dress so turns and heads on out to the rendevous point.
:: Commander Irae stands in the shuttle bay waiting for Savot, pondering the funeral rites of the vulcan culture...she really has no idea though she had to learn something about it in the Academy but for the life of her she cannot remember. Her pondering is cut short soon enough when the doors to the imbillicus hiss open, and Savot strides in wearing a very familiar type of outfit...he chose well she thinks and smiles at him:: Well then Commander...ye'll be fittin in well...with them ears they may be thinkin ye a Fae. ::laughing, and then laughing harder seeing that eyebrow go up..she speaks before he can say the obvious statement, she can already hear it "I am not familiar with this "Fae" Commander". She says:: Tis a legend...magical people tha lived in th forests an mountains. Ill explain on th way. Our shuttle be 'ere already.
I look foreward to the explanation Commander, after you. ::He says to her and then Deis gives him a lil curtsey bob and turns, heading out the umbilicus. Its a terran shuttle from the surface, normal earth transport, yet its making a special trip...they usually do for ranking starfleet. Keeps relations good after all. They step into the shuttle and sit down...no others come aboard as this is the last shuttle out, the rest shall be returning. As it takes off Deis goes into a long explanation of faeries and leprechauns::

After skiing and sleeping until the last three days of his shore leave, Kevin went to the trial of the three criminals who had attempted to steal the El Salvador. All he had to do was recount the events that had taken place, and since it was really a mere formality since he'd written a report already, it didn't take very long.
The Shapshifter was imprisoned for life (ever since Odo and his friends had shown up, Starfleet had been uber-paranoid about shapeshifters), while the Security Ensign was thrown out of Starfleet and imprisoned for two years. Fos got off with only one year, but all three would be on close surviellance for a long time.
With less than two to go until the El Salv departed on its next assignment, Kevin decieded he might as well get back to the ship. Savot and Irae were both there, as well as a new navigations officer, Jamey Parker. Kevin would say hello to him after he checked in on the Science Labs.
Most of the science department was back, with four exceptions, and all four of those crewmembers had contacted Kevin and assured him that they would be back soon. Kevin headed to the Bridge. Savot was sitting in the command chair, helping a couple of new ensigns get used to the Bridge before the El Salv left spacedock. Since one of the ensigns was in the science department, Kevin waited until Savot was finished speaking, announced his arrival to the El Salv (of which Savot had probably been made aware by the computer and by the Ops officer), said hello to the two ensigns, and left to return to his quarters. Because El Salv time was different than the time zone Kevin had come from on earth, he needed to get readjusted to the time on the ship. Not that he got very much sleep anyways... but meeting Parker would have to wait until tomorrow morning, which was only six hours away.
Thinking back on it, Kevin probably should have checked in with Savot before he went to the science labs. But since he'd only been at the labs for about ten minutes, Savot would understand. Kevin collapsed on his bed and (after several twenty-hour days in a row) for the first time in years was able to fall asleep when he wanted to.
