:: Commander Deis Irae sits in the observation lounge for lack of her own ready room going over the transcripts of the theft trials. Again and again shes amazed at the stupidity by which these men acted. Even if all things had been equal...they never would have gotten the ship out of space dock. As she scrolls through the information the bleeping of an incomming message flashes over her console. Shes been expecting it since leave is nearly finished.::
::When the new orders scroll over the screen she raises a brow and leans foreward as though mentally saying "are you kidding??" but obviously its not joking. Starfleet never jokes. The M Class planet Darvon has been experiencing a wide variety of strange occurances in orbit and in the skies. Theres something written in the orders shes never seen before and has to look up "UFO Occurances". She learns that these have something to do with "aliens" way back in the earlier centuries. But being as how Darvon is a federation planet, strange occurances like this shouldnt be happening at all. There really are no Unidentified Flying Objects anymore...every ship gives off its own information. But the occurrances are stranger even than that.::
:: What strikes Deis curiousity is the sighting of a certain humanoid that simply isnt on the books anywhere...noones ever seen anything quite like them, and indeed they may not be real at all. The few sightings theyve had match NO known profile of humanoid or even non humanoid beings.::
:: The commander must admit...this is at least interesting. She gets up and turns the console off and then hits her commbadge::
=/\=Attention all Officers o th El Sal, briefing meetin in 4 hours, tha be a' 08:00 hours, in th Observation Lounge=/\=
::She signs off and then gets about her work, checking to see if everythings ready for a smooth departure before the briefing meeting...she hopes to be well on her way by then::

Kevin slept right through Irae's announcement. He woke up at 0736, took a shower, got dressed, slowly ate his breakfast (consisting of a cinnamon roll, cocholate chip cookies, and chocolate milk), and made his way to the Bridge, arriving at 0759. Irae was sitting in the command chair.
Irae: "Cutting it kinda close, arn't ye, Lt.?"
Kevin: "What?"
Irae: "Th' announcement I made a few hours ago about th' breifing meetin'?"
Kevin: "Ah... I must not have heard. Lucky me I got here so early."
Irae::standing up:: "Yes."
Kevin followed her into the conference room.

Finding the snooze button was harder in new quarters than Jamey thought, however after a few moments of his arm franticly flinging around the nightstand, he found it. The hum of systems he wasn’t accustomed with made it hard to go back to sleep. He gave a deep sigh and threw back the covers and got out of bed stumbling to the shower. After, he asked the computer for an update.
“Computer, was there any announcements I missed?” Jamey said. “One announcement from Command Deis Irea”, the computer responded. “Play back the announcement”, Jamey said with interest. The playback started … =/\=Attention all Officers o th’ El Sal, briefing meetin’ in 4 hours, tha be a' 08:00 hours, in the Observation Lounge=/\=
“Computer … time”, Jamey asked “The time is now zero seven hundred hours”, the calm computer voice responded.
Jamey ate breakfast and composted a few short messages to friends back on Trill and then got dressed, pausing when it came time to attached one solid pip and one black pip to his red collar. With a smile, Jamey was out the door and off to the turbo lift.
…
Arriving at the Observation lounge Jamey saw the commander and a Lieutenant that he had not meet as of yet.
After their faces looked up from a PADD ... Jamey said, “Good morning,” then giving an out stretched hand to the Lieutenant, “Lt. JG JameyParker”.

"Lt. Kevin Zimmerman," replied Kevin. "Straight out of the Academy, right?"
"Yes, I just trained on the Hepta," said Jamey.
"I trained on it, too. Captain ONE's still there, right?"
"Yes," said Jamey. They probably would have kept talking about ONE, Dr. Mackler, and the rest, but at that time Savot walked in.

Off: Guys forgive me for being so terribly late with this post. All i can say in my defence is that my sisters getting married THIS saturday and ive been doing a lot of the work towards that. I am very sorry for the lack of action, i shall continue this now if you all wish...im posting in any case. Again, my bad, im VERY sorry. Will be much more active.
On:
::Irae looks at Zimmerman with a rather critical eye this morning...hoping hes not planning on repeating his insubordination of before the leave. After a bit of a while she follows in behind them by now being somewhat late having been snagged by an incomming transmission. She steps into the room and gives a general polite good morning sorry im late smile all around, motions for everyone to get comfy though she herself remains standing.::
Good Mornin, Gentlemen. Sorry i be a wee tad late...ill nae bore ye wi' th biddy details. Joost a general fer now. Were headin to th Hadrian system, 4th planet Darvon. Tis a recently discovered planet with new warp technology capabilities. Only been accepted into th Federation th last 3 years. These people 'ave called fer aid in investigation of an "aerial and orbital" disturbance. In o'er words...they be seein flyin saucers...and they nae be friendly. They have recieved odd showings of lights tha blind people fer days. Odd electrical an radiation interference. Nae a single clear image has been taken o any o these craft or phenomena. Th displays an craft discribed dinnae match anythin tha we be familiar with. THough i be sure parallels may be found.
T say th least, tis an odd situation. An one we be goin into wi'out much information other than thar be an attack on th new planet Darvon, an it isnae good. Any questions? We leave immediatly.

“Any questions? We leave immediately” Commander Irae said.
Jamey looks around the room with a bit of in trepidation being new to this crew. Lifting his hand just a little, “Yes, I have one”.
The Commander acknowledges Jamey ...
“If we don’t have that much information about what is going on, shouldn’t we approach the Hadrain system and try to spy or at least scout with a covert probe on the situation first?” ... “That system has an asteroid belt that we can hide in and use long range sensors and probes to try to catch who ever is doing this … well … ‘red handed’ so to speak.” ... “I think by now we can rule out that this situation is paranormal. Do we know what species are within reasonable warp flight that would have the personality of this type of malice?”
Jamey looked around the room looking at the intent looks form the other crew. ‘Should I have made that a shorter question’, Jamey thought.

"In addition to Lt. Parker's inqueries," said Kevin, "I have one of my own. How do we know this isn't an internal problem? Maybe a political faction of the planet's government has resorted to this sort of display of force. I don't know why they wouldn't announce their control over the phenomenae, but they might have a good reason. Just wondering."
OFF: Sorry its short, but I have a big exam on Friday, and I haven't studied for it at all.

As Lieutenant Zimmerman was asking his question, Jamey thought of another. Still under a bit of intimidation about being on a new ship, he didn’t want to come across wrong or out of order. He thought it important to ask however.
“Excuse me Lieutenant, I don’t want to ride on your coat tails … but you do bring up a good point. May I add something?”
Lieutenant Zimmerman looked at Jamey with an inquisitive grin and said, “Sure … go ahead”.
“Thank You”, then Jamey turned his attention back toward the Commander. “As the Lieutenant said … about this could be an internal problem. Has the Ambassador to Darvon given us any clue as to what the governmental temperature may be like? Has a Darvonian Ambassador given any information to Starfleet other than a request for assistance?”
With a puzzled look, Jamey continued. “It just seems strange that we really know so little about relations with Darvon since their election into the Federation.” Looking down at his PADD … “We have tons of information on this civilization, but I see nothing on how the relationship is between Starfleet and Darvon. All of our information paints a picture that … well …” his facial expressions changing as he searched for words, “ … just seems to good to be true.” Jamey really wanted to say, ‘I hope this mission doesn’t uncover the skeletons in their closet’ … but he only thought that part …

Tha' Lt. Parker is why fer this meetin. Strategy...how t be goin aboot this. Now i think yer idear be a good one. We should use all due caution when dealin wi sommat with less information. When ye sit at tha Nav console, those be the coordinates...tha asteroid field. :: smiling a little bit, she cant wait to see the new guy in the drivers seat, navigating an asteroid field can be tricky:: I pose one in responce...wha makes ye think we can rule out th paranormal?
At th moment we dinnae 'ave any "suspects". Though thar be several less savory civilizations wi warp capability tha COULD do these thins. Its joost nae proven that they ARE.
::Then turning her attention to Zimmermans question:: We dinnae know tha it isnt internal. It could very well be...its as likely as they bein attacked by another group o persons. When they called fer assistance, they dinnae specify any internal problems. If there WERE then it wouldnae look good. Starfleets job isnae t police each individual planet an put down internal rebellions. But we can do little until weve begun th investigation t answer tha one i be afraid.
:: Then again looking to Jamey and smiling, motioning for him to be out with it.:: Ill nae bite ye fer brainstormin. Tis wha this meetin be fer. Th Ambassadors have said neither yay, or nae aboot their governmental temperatures at this time. All they sent was a call fer assistance. They seem t b'lieve tha it is an outside attack o some form. This could be true...or it could be blarney. It be our job t find out which. :: She watches him speak further and smiles with a bit of respect when he says its too good to be true:: Yer astute...things seem t be goin wi smooth sailin on Darvon...a' least atween Starfleet an Darvon. Newly entered they have offered trade negotiations and their technology for certain ::ahem:: well...frivolous oddities. Novilties...a sort o "backwater" touristness, iffen ye take my meanin. Could very well be tha they 'ave things t hide.
::waiting for anything further::

Sitting there paying close attention to the Commander, Jamey was finding it hard to follow her thick accent. He guessed he would get use to it after sometime.
“I pose one in responce...wha makes ye think we can rule out th paranormal?” the Commander posed to Jamey.
“Sir, I have been around the block a time or two”, wondering if she knew that Jamey was a joined Trill, “… I have always found very sound scientific reasons for things.” “I would like to suggest that we prepare a couple of class five probes; mainly for their hull coating for low observable radar signatures. We can use them when we are in the asteroid field.”
Jamey new that he would have to prove himself in the asteroid field, but he also knew he was up to the task.

Researching further into the flight plan, Jamey pulled up the systems stellar charts and started to familiarize himself with the system. Looking at the outer planets he noticed several of the planets moons were capable of supporting a base of operation. None of them were class M environments, but a couple was passive enough to support some type of structure. Continuing, he came to the asteroid field in question. It seems that studies indicated that the field was created when the system was formed when two planets collided. However, there wasn’t enough gravitational pull from larger gas type planets to break the rock masses up into smaller pieces. Taking into account where the planet Darvon would be in its orbit, there would be some larger rock masses available that would have sufficient gravitational mass allowing ship to hide in a polar orbit. This asteroid field didn’t make a complete circumference around the systems star, and the orbit of both the field and planet Darvon wouldn’t be inline for very long. From this calculation Jamey then suggested to the Commander and the rest of the crew in the breafing …. “… Our window of opportunity for ‘observing’ the UFO occurrences will not last for long. At our normal crusing speed of Warp 5, it would take us seven hours to get to Darvon. That would only allow us two hours to observe before our cover would be gone. After this window passes, any ship within the system will know that we are there. I suggest Commander that we leave as soon as we can.” OFF: … May we please get the mission started …. Please?

After the briefing every one was going to their station. Jamey walked onto the bridge and then down the steps by the center chair to the CONN. Sitting, he called up the configuration that had stored into the computer days before; CNO were allowed to configure the layout of the CONN somewhat.
“USS El Salvador to Earth space dock” Jamey said after opening a channel. “Space dock here”, a voice replied back over the communications system. “Requesting permission to leave dock”, Jamey responded. “USS El Salvador, you are cleared to leave … you have free space for departure”, Space dock reported.
Jamey called for the turbo lift gantries to clear and then cleared those air locks of personnel for depressurization. Confirming that the umbilicals were closed and released he activated the RCS thruster system.
“Thrusters are confirmed at stations keeping, sensors show that we are clear of any other ships and obstructions; releasing docking clamps”, Jamey reported. “Bow thrusters back one-third”, Jamey said as the ship began to slowly reverse from the dock. The ship was smaller than the Galaxy Class but never the less it was still an awe-inspiring sight to see. The formation lights were [glow=red,2,300]flashing[/glow] as the deflector dish began to glow a hue of blue.
Jamey turned the bow thrusters off as he gave the port bow thruster a quick pulse - turning the ship to line up the space stations outer doors. The large space station door began to open as bright red clearance lights started [glow=red,2,300]flashing[/glow] on either side. Looking down at the navigational sensors, Jamey used the thrusters to line the ship with the center axis navigation beam.
“Aft thrusters ahead one-third”, Jamey called out. This ship looked very streamline, like it would have very little wind resistance if air were present. People, who were on the station passing by windows, couldn’t help but stop and watch this ship leave.
“We are clear of the station, aft thrusters ahead to half”, Jamey reported with a grin, he loved to pilot ships. “We are clear of traffic, heading set for the Hadrian system; ahead at half impulse.”
…
After passing by Saturn, Jamey increased to full impulse. Jamey noticed the CONN was a bit different than those from other star ships, after all this was a tactical class ship. … Pulling up the sensors from the tactical station and overlaying that over the navigational sensors, Jamey noticed that the ship was clear of the planetary system.
“Going to warp eight”, Jamey reported as he watched how efficiently the new warp engines, along with the four warp nacelles, kept the warp field.
Jamey knew that this was going to be a interesting mission, “We will arrive in four hours.”

Having just finished up with a patient Kalen turned when he heard the Caitian behind him.
"Purmau reporting for duty." She said.
He looked at her with a smile. "About time they sent me someone decent. I hear you have served here before?"
"Yes, but I was the counsellor back then. I applied for that position again this time, but apparantly it was being held for someone."
Kalen raised an eyebrow. That was news to him. Not that he was that well informed about anything that was going on anymore. He seemed to spend more and more time just cooped up in sickbay. Hopefully now that he had an assistant, that might change. Either that or it would mean he didn't even get to go out on away mission, instead she would be sent on them. He sighed. He was sure this wasn't why he had become a doctor.
He went over to the computer, and pulled up his schedule for the day. He selected a few patients, and moved their details onto a PADD.
"There you go, a few patients to keep you going. Which will give me time to finally have my lunchtime jog again." He smiled at her.

With four hours to go until we reach our destination, Jamey thought, I need to go get my side checked out in sickbay. Jamey’s academy mission had run into some problems and the ship got tossed around a bit and he was injured. His side was hurting, ribs more than likely, bruised or some type of deep tissue injury. It was time to get it seen about before this mission got started.
Excusing himself from the bridge, Jamey found his way to the sickbay. The doors opened and he walked in to see an Ensign standing with a PADD.
“Hello”, as Jamey broke the silence.
<<Purmau>>
“I seem to have a injury from a previous mission that needs to be seen about. See our ship was hit in battle and I was thrown to the floor, but not after hitting something on the way down. The ship’s medical staff treated me, but it has been giving me problems. Especially when I do ... Umf …” Jamey let out with a sigh. “I guess I don’t need to do that anymore, the pain just seems deep, you know?”
"I will have to see you later Lt., my schedule is full." Purmau said.
"OK, I will come back when I'm off duty." Jamey said as he headed back to the bridge.

Off: First off im sorry for the delay, id explain but...i do that too much. Welcome Purmau, and we will soon welcome our new counselor Zoe who will be backposting herself into the mission. Id like to thank Jamey for being to very patient with me as well as the rest of you.
On:
::Deis saw the group off and then welcomed Purmau to the ship, giving her quarters and sickbay codes. All of them save for her own research station, it would be meaningless to anyone else anyway. Afterwards she took her place in the chair, working on a padd whilst going through protocol for exiting. The ship leaves the dock smoothly and for that, Deis is grateful.::
::The trip on the way there is uneventful, the ship running quiet and smooth. Deis stares out of the viewer, watching the stars warp past. She hopes fervantly that this wont be a complete disaster. It isnt her first mission, but it feels like it.::
::Hours pass this way and then theres a subtle pinging. Parkers temporary replacement says:: ETA 20 minutes Commander.
Aight, bring us outa warp in 10 minutes, "mark". When our officer returns we'll be goin in there ::pointing to the asteroid field that glows on the nav screen. Deis looks at the chunks that appear in space on scanners. She looks round to her Science Officer and asks:: Wha be those asteroids be made of, Mr. Zimmerman?

"Sensors show that the belt is a mix of space debris and what appears to be very old ship fragments," replied Kevin. "And by 'very old' I mean about 60, 70 years old. Only a few fragments are still large enough to create a problem. Other than that, just a bunch of rocks. A class two comet will pass through the asteroid belt in about six weeks, according to one of the latest Federation science publications. Now, that might be interesting. But until then, it'll be pretty boring."
"Thank you, Mr. Zimmerman," said Irae.

Jamey returned to the bridge and relived the second shift navigation ensign that was just filling in until he returned.
“Thank you Ensign Rowland (NPC), I will fill you in after this shift is over; you may want to review this system's charts before you come on duty. You never know what we will run into.” Jamey said.
“Yes sir, I will. I will also need to talk to you later about some navigation questions.” Rowland added.
“That will be fine Ensign, we will go to the holodeck later for some simulations when the night shift takes over. I promise not to keep you up late. I will need rest too.” Jamey said with a smile while looking at the young Ensign.
As the Ensign left, Jamey turned to look at the Commander and gave a reassuring grin. He knew the Commander was watching him close.
The Ensign had brought the ship out of warp and was at half impulse on the outer boundaries of the Hadrian system. The system consisted of twelve planets with the outer seven being smaller class C and class G planets. The fifth planet is a class F.
“I will plot a course into the system that will take us past the eighth planet. From there we will be able launch our first probe for recon. We should be able to detect any ships; if they are not cloaked.” Jamey reported to the Commander.
“Lt. Zimmerman, please let me know if you need the ship in any special orientation for the probe launch.” Jamey said smiling.
<<Tag Zimmerman>>
“Commander, may I speak to you about staffing the helms should we need to separate the ship. Ensign Rowland would be able to helm the top, alpha section; I can cover the beta or middle section. However, that leaves us the gamma section; I would like to know if anyone on-board has navigation experience?” Asked Jamey.

“Lt. Zimmerman, please let me know if you need the ship in any special orientation for the probe launch.” Jamey said smiling.
"Nope," said Kevin. "As long as we're pointed in the general direction of the target, I'll be fine."

However, that leaves us the gamma section; I would like to know if anyone on-board has navigation experience?” asked Jamey.
Before Commander Irae could answer, Kevin spoke up again. "I could," he said.
Irae looked at him. "Well, I know there's plenty of officer in the science department that are capable of filling your position, so if you want to, Mr. Zimmerman, go right ahead."
"If Lt. Parker wishes, I will, sir," replied Kevin.
Jamey smiled. "That'd be great," said the Trill. "You don't mind which section you get?"
"Not particularly," said Kevin. "I'll join you and that Ensign in the holodeck later. Its been a while since I've flown anything besides a shuttlecraft."

Feelin better Lieutenant? :: the commander asks as her Nav guy returns. Which is good the next bit was crutial and she didnt want the ensign to try to drive this bad boy in there. He reports to her::
Sounds good Lt. Lets go. ::She says back and then swivels to watch for a few moments as we pass the hunks of spacejunk. She nods Zimmermans way:: Thanks Lt.
::Her Nav-man then asks to talk about something shes rather been wanting to talk about. Since her residence this ship hasnt had the emergency type of situation where splitting this Promethius monster that we ride around in, needed.::
::She thinks about this and recalls starfleet protocol, remembering that there must be an officer aboard each third. Before she can speak about it Zimmerman pipes up. Deis shakes her head and looks at the youth and scowls. But then she gives it a second thought:: Ye assume much Zimmerman...but go on. :: Shes been watching him since leave thinking if he messes up again itll be reprimand time. She dosent want that messup to be held on a whole third of the ship...but decides to give him the chance to prove himself::
::Then she looks to Jamey again:: Unfortunatly thar needs be an Officer a' th helm o th Thirds. Protocol. One o' us will 'ave t take it. ::meaning one of the others, herself or Savot...she wishes desperatly for a moment that we had a good Tactical officer but theres nothing to be done for it.::

“Unfortunatly thar needs be an Officer a' th helm o th Thirds. Protocol. One o' us will 'ave t take it”, the Commander said to Jamey.
“Yes Sir”, Jamey said in return. Jamey thought for a moment that he may have overstepped his jurisdiction, but he had always been overly concerned with things.
A notification alarm sounded on Jamey’s panel, he turned to see the nav computer displaying the asteroid field. ‘This is it’, Jamey thought, ‘time to prove myself’.
“Approaching the field now sir. The tactical display is showing nothing from the recon probe. Impulse engines to one quarter speed.” The navigational dish deflectors were moving most of the smaller objects. By using the current location of the planet Darvon, Jamey found a larger class D asteroid that had sufficient mass that lined up for best observation.
Approaching a class D asteroid, the ship slowed to one-eighth impulse. Jamey reported, “Commander, we have a class D asteroid ahead baring 325 mark 315. A geo stationed polar insertion, according to the gravitational reading from the nav sensors, will give us one hour and forty-five minutes for observation of the planet. After that, the planet will be to far away for any meaningful readings.” … … … …
An alarm sounded on the tactical read-out. “Sir, the tactical sensors have detected an energy source on the class D asteroid. The computer has classified the signature as a low powered emission; nothing matches this in the database. … By the looks of the pattern, it seems to be systematically searching a portion of space between this asteroid and … huh …”, Jamey pauses to re-evaluate the readings then turns to the Commander, “ … the planet.”
Whirling around in his chair Jamey says, “I’m backing us off, bow thrusters back half”. The ship begins to slowly back from its polar position, the ship shutters. “Correcting with internal dampening”, as the ride smoothes. Breaking free Jamey reports, “The field is full of these power emissions”, now using the impulse engines, “ … taking us clear of the field”. The ship shutters several more times before the ship clears the field and assumes a higher position, “The field is now at mark 270 below; we are clear of the power emissions, however the tactical sensors are still detecting their presence.”
“So much for spying”, Jamey says, “I guess the eye is on us …”

~She took the padd with a nod and headed off to see the first patient going over evry thing that needed to be done~
Purmau: I am sorry, but my schedule is full. You will have to come back later.
~He told her he would return on his brake and she gave a slight nod before returning to her examinations. She scaned the paitent and entered the data into the padd making note of their progress. She administered a does of painkiller to this one and then moved on to the next patient.~
