Wolf: Heard the order" You heard the Captain, break orbit and set a course for the debris. Mr. Wolf, ready all weapons." thinking to himself finaly something I can do. Checking the power supply and target systems " Weapons are locked and loaded we will beable to take them out as soon as we are in range" <Tag parsons>

Ethan was worried about what else his scans had missed. If it hadn't been for the probe, the meteorites might have hit the planet even with them there. Ethan was mad at himself, but knew that it wouldn't do any good for him to stay that way. If they wanted to do this right, they would need operations to be at peak efficiency.
As the El Salvador broke orbit, the ship went to yellow alert. Ethan scanned the incoming spaces rocks and saw that they were a lot smaller than the ones that would reach the planet in a weeks time. That still didn't mean that the scans were troubling. If his predictions were correct over fifty rocks would survive and hit the planet.
Most of them would hit rural areas, but quite a few would affect major Corinian cities.
"Commander Parsons we will be in firing range in twenty seconds," Ethan reported and waited for what was coming up next.

"Commander Parsons we will be in firing range in twenty seconds," Ethan reported and waited for what was coming up next.
Savot exited the turbolift on the tail of this report, walking forward to stand slight in front of the center seat, his hands clasped behind his back as per usual. Having heard the timeframe to weapons range the vulcan began issuing his orders, "Captain Wolf, prioritize targets and fire as you bear. Commander Parsons, review Mr. Hope's incoming sensor data on this wave and confer between yourselves to determine if ship separation will be required to eliminate the entire wave while maintaining a sufficient travel time buffer between the debris and the planet."
Savot then stood and waited, giving a slight nod of assurance to Councilwoman Zarice whom he had decided should be invited to observe their actions in the protection of her planet as a gesture of good faith from the Federation. As long as she presented no hindrance to the carrying out of his people's duties he saw no practical problem with her presence among them.
He was unused to this level of distance between himself and direct action to the resolution of a situation, but all the duties necessary in this endeavor were being carried out by officers in whose abilities he had confidence. He would merely be content to focus his energies on efficiently directing those abilities as best he could. Savot watched the viewscreen as the first pieces of debris entered weapons range...

Wolf: Didn't look up when Commander Savot entered the bridge he was tracking his targets. The were small so it was taking alot of his concentration. He didn't want to miss one knowing what damaged it would have on the planet. He heard Commander savot give the order "Captain Wolf, prioritize targets and fire as you bear.
Wolf: Waited for a second more and opened fire with the main phaser batterer. Watching his target scan he noticed some of the smaller one's were starting to get through. The targeting system was not use to picking up that small of a target. " Commander Savot I'm going to need some help we are going to have to switch to manual firing. I cant keep track of all the smaller targets at once" <Tag Savot>

OOC: I'll backpost any dialouge between Ton'ta and myself.
IC:
Kevin had flocated the probable locations of most of the fragments, and was currently explaining the difficulties of retrieving them to Savot.
"...and the underwater currents may have moved some of the fragments away from where I suspect them to be. In addition, the pressure at those depths make some of those fragments nearly unretrievable. Then there's the shark-like species that we'll need to keep away," finished Kevin. "But I've got the hazmat teams asembled."
"How many?" asked Savot.
"Three," replied Kevin. "I'll be leading the one that's going deepest into the ocean. I had three of the shuttles refitted to cope with the underwater expedition."
"Good," said Savot. "When should you be finished?"
Kevin shrugged. "Anywhere from four hours to a day."
"Very well. Good luck, Mr. Zimmerman," said Savot.
"Thanks, sir," said Kevin. The turbolift opened and Savot stepped out onto the Bridge. (OOC: That's where Savot shows up on the Bridge where he is now)
An hour later, Kevin was diving along with two other scientists on the ocean floor. They had successfully beamed five fragments into the shuttle, and had half a dozen to go. Kevin was using the emergency trasporter Commander LaForge had developed over a dozen years ago (OOC: STN, the device which Data uses to beam Picard back to the Enterprise-E. By now it would have become more popular). It still had flaws, but at such close range to the shuttle Kevin thought it was the best strategy available.
=^= Team 3 reports successful pickup of ninth fragment. =^= The voice belonged to Lt. Saliberus, who was in the shuttle next to Kevin. They were too far away from the El Salvador to communicate with ease, so the reports were mostly for the benefit of Kevin.
As they picked up the fragment, Kevin noticed something dash behind the shuttle. He looked around for a moment, but saw nothing.
=^= Transporting fragment... =^= The hazardous rock disappeared. =^=Fragments secured.=^=
Kevin and the other two divers followed the shuttle to the next fragment, their personal jets propelling them at speeds past 50 kph. Everyone was beginning to notice the pressure, but it was still safe inside the hazmat suits.
Two hours later the other two teams were finished. Team three had returned to take all of the fragments collected so far by Kevin's team, leaving them with three more to find.
=^= Saliberus to Zimmerman. "Sir, the hull's beginning to show signs of stress. I think we should resurface and try this again later. =^=
Kevin shook his head, but the chance Saliberus would see it was rather dim. "No. There's no reason to- What was that?"
The shadows were dancing around the darkness. The team was so deep that the sun was hardly visible. Flashlights and the shuttle's lights were the only things enabeling the team to see.
=^= I don't see anything on my sensors, but that's probably because they are all mucked up. =^=
Suddenly, one of the shadows took on a distinct form. In seconds, a large, shark-like creature, almost as large as the shuttle, was right on top of one of the other divers.
"Get us out of here!" yelled Kevin. Saliberus started to reply, but one of the giant creatures rammed the shuttle. The other diver started away on his jet, but the creature lunged toward him, biting his legs off with one quick snap of incredibly large jaws. The man screamed as the creature finished him off. Several more of the shark-like things were heading for Kevin and the remaining diver.
"Dig!" screamed Kevin. "Dig into the sand!" He was already halfway into the ocean floor, his frantic digging causing a storm of sand to fly up into the water. Another scream told Kevin he was very, very alone.
As he curled up in his hole, letting the sand fall back down and cover him, one of the creatures suddenly appeared, its mouth only a meter or so away from Kevin. It was coming right for him when a burst of phaser fire sliced through the water and cut the creature in half. The front half fell hard on Kevin, pinning him to the ground and rendering him unconcious.
=^= Commander! Commander Zimmerman, can you hear me?=^=
There was no response. Another creature rammed the shuttle, and Saliberus could wait no longer. The hull's intergrity was showing serious signs of damage. He ordered the shuttle away at high speeds, the creatures following for some time. Kevin lay abandoned, unable to move and losing oxygen at the bottom of the ocean.

Adam moved aside as Savot entered the bridge. He stood off to the right as the Captain took his position in front of the command chair.
Moments later, Wolf opened fire with the main phaser battery. Watching his target scan he noticed some of the smaller one's were starting to get through. The targeting system was not use to picking up that small of a target. " Commander Savot I'm going to need some help we are going to have to switch to manual firing. I cant keep track of all the smaller targets at once."
"I'm on it," said Parsons as he hurried to an empty station and accessed the secondary weapons systems. "Manual targeting enabled." Wolf began manually targeting the debris with more success. Adam locked onto the pieces of debris that slipped through and fired torpedoes. The two worked quickly, their hands moving rapidly over their consoles.
As the torpedoes detonated and the phasers blazed out across space, the little dots on the targeting scanners quickly disappeared, one after another, in rapid succession.
"The situation seems to be under control, Captain," Parsons reported as he and Wolf mopped up the remaining debris.

"The situation seems to be under control, Captain," Parsons reported as he and Wolf mopped up the remaining debris.
"Well done gentlemen", Savot said as he sat down in the center seat now that the immediate situation had been resolved, "Commander Parsons, confer with Mr. Hope and determine an optimal placement pattern for 10 full-yield quantum torpedoes reconfigured to serve as stationary proximity mines. When the larger wave approaches they will serve as a warning and both damage and slow the progression of the debris."
He called up a sensor display of the larger debris wave's estimated location before he continued, still addressing Adam, "When the pattern has been decided, work with Captain Wolf on reconfiguring the torpedoes for proximity detonation."
"Mr. Hope, upon their completion, relay the placement coordinates to the helm for dispersal of the torpedoes. When they've all been placed we will return to Corinian 4 to re-establish contact with both Mr. Sandage and Commander Zimmerman. Prepare and release a stationary probe when we've reached 20,000 kilometers distance from our improvised minefield to give us both knowledge of contact and an updated report of the debris' state following the torpedo detonation", the vulcan finished his orders and turned his chair towards Councilwoman Zarice, "Your pardon, madame, but my place is here for the moment. You are welcome to take an empty seat here on the bridge, or I can have a crewman attend you back in the conference room and provide you refreshment if you wish."

Judd had finally, after several hours, taken a brief break for a meal, and then only after being badgered by his staff. Thanks to the replicator in his office, he was able to have lunch without having to take the extra time to go to a mess hall or lounge.
Now, he leaned back in his chair, munching a Hero sandwich and sipping an iced tea; even then, half his mind was still on the problem at hand. The phase-inducers were about thirty percent converted, and he still wasn't 100% certain that they would work as they should, and the computer couldn't give him any accurate estimates. In short, Judd was doing what his father referred to as "engineering by the seat of your pants," making it up as he went along.
His thoughts were interrupted by the beep of his commbadge. =/\=Team One to Lieutenant Sandage!=/\= came an urgent voice.
He sighed and tapped his badge. =/\=Sandage here, what's the problem? =/\=
=/\=Sir, we were bringing the main particle emitter on-line, and it's sent a feedback loop through the power relays. We can replace the relays easy enough, but we need to go EVA to repair the emitter.-/\=
Judd muttered a curse under his breath, and dropped his half-eaten sandwich on his desk. =/\= Okay, get busy on those relays, I'll take care of the emitter. Sandage out!=/\=
Judd tapped his badge again even as he was throwing his gear together. =/\=Sandage to Bridge, Team One reports that the particle emitter on Platform Number One needs to be repaired from the outside. They're busy replacing power relays, so I need to take a Worker Bee out and do it myself!=/\=

(Off: Easiest way to handle this is to have Judd's post take place before the ship went after the small debris field. He likely wouldn't have stayed aboard during our detour and left his team unsupervised, so he departs just before the order is given to break orbit)
Backpost:
=^=Sir, sensors show another round of meteorites headed for the planet. They were identified by Lt. Hope's probe and their path has been confirmed by tactical senors. We need to break orbit now to intercept them all safely=^=, reported Adam over Savot's communicator.
Before the vulcan could tap his commbadge in response; however, a voice came through in the background over the bridge's comm system.
=/\=Sandage to Bridge, Team One reports that the particle emitter on Platform Number One needs to be repaired from the outside. They're busy replacing power relays, so I need to take a Worker Bee out and do it myself!=/\=
Savot lowered his hand from his commbadge and used the conference table console in front of him to patch himself through the bridge's communication system, =^= Savot to Sandage. Permission granted for Worker Bee departure. The ship will break orbit once you are clear to intercept a preliminary wave of debris, so gather what you may need for the immediate future as you will have to dock with the orbital platform upon completing the emitter repairs. We will contact you upon our return, Savot out. =^=
Disabling his connection to the bridge intercom the vulcan returned to his original action and tapped his combadge in response to Adam's report, "Very well, Mr. Parsons, break orbit the moment Lieutenant Sandage has cleared the ship and prepare to engage the meteorites. I will be on the bridge momentarily."
OFF: (Note once again this was all a backpost adaptation of our original departure from the planet on our way to destroy the debris. Judd, feel free to backpost whatever repair details you'd like to include keeping in mind that they occur while the El Salvador is away from the planet. I'd estimate the entire round trip probably takes about 3 hours including the torpedo reconfiguring and placement, so whatever you think you got done in that amount of time feel free to post)

OOC: This takes place immediately after my previous post and a little while after the El Salv gets back from blowing up the little fragments.
IC:
While Kevin lay at the bottom of the ocean, the shark-like figures pursued the shuttle. Smaller fish ate away at the carcass which was pinning Kevin to the ground. One team was already on the El Salvador, the other approaching it. Saliberus's shuttle was not faring so well. As it skimmed across the water, heading for the nearest land mass, its power began to falter. The ship was not traveling too quickly due to the damage it had sustained while underwater, and Saliberus doubted they would make it to land. Communications were not functioning.
Saliberus believed that his shuttle had emerged from the ocean about two dozen kilometers away from land, and was not three-fourths of the way there. If Kevin had survived, he'd probably have enough air left to get to shallow water, where the shark-like creatues were not as likely to be found. He'd still have a long way to swim, though, as his jet would run out of power.
A shudder ran through the small vessel, and then it plummetted into the water, slicing down into the deep. The three scientists inside began shouting, Saliberus hoping that the ship could be brought back above the water...
One of the windows broke and water began to rush in. A few moments later another window broke. Then another. Cracks appeared on the main window. Saliberus punched hopelessly at his console, and as the cracks came together the shuttle emerged from the water. It began bouncing along, flying through the air for several dozen meters and then hitting the ocean, throwing the scientists through the air and into the back of the shuttle. It began to lose speed, and the crew managed to get back to their consoles.
"Land!" shouted one, shortly before the shuttle hit a large piece of rock. The starboard side of the shuttle was scraped off, and all hell broke loose. Saliberus fell out of the devestated shuttle, swam frantically for the surface, and saw the land one of the other scientists had seen. It was fairly close, and Saliberus knew he could swim toward it. He looked down, noticed his missing commbadge and torn uniform, and then, surprised, saw the blood. He's been cut by something: probably pieces of the broken windows, or perhaps the jagged side of the shuttle. He knew he had to get to land quickly. The saltwater would make his wounds hurt badly, and they would definitely get infected. As Saliberus began to swim for land, he noticed the body of another scientist bobbing facedown. The other scientist was much closer to the land than Saliberus, swimming for the land as he was.
****************************************************
Kevin woke up to a horrible headache. It was a moment before he remembered where exactly he was. The remaining carcass of the creature which had been trying to eat him was little more than a pile of bones. Kevin untangled himself from sand and bone and saw absolute darkness. He remembered his flashlight, turned it on, and saw that he had less than 90 minutes of air left. He didn't know where the rest of his team was, but at that moment he wasn't particularly concerned. Kevin started off, his jet propelling him the way the shuttle had come - toward the nearest landmass.
An hour later his jet died. Kevin abandoned it, continuing to swim up and toward the shore. Between his tricorder's log and compass, Kevin had managed to backtrack the way he had come. He was surfacing slowly, now able to see the sun and had discarded his flashlight, no longer requiring that. He had avoided any predators so far, and his luck continued to hold the rest of his thirty minutes of air. By the time that ran out he had surfaced, but found the land to be a distant shorline. He almost dispaired then, but decided he had to continue on. He let his tricorder and external suit float away, and then began the long swim...
****************************************************
Lt. Saliberus and the other scientist, Ensign Fenchurch, lay on the beach, thoroughly spent. After the terror they had encountered, the stress of picking up the fragments (two of which were now much closer to land in a crippled shuttlecraft lying at the bottom of the ocean), and the deadly flight and swim toward land, neither felt like going further. Both men crawled far enough away they assumed the high tide - if it were low tide now - would not reach them. Night fell on the planet.
A few kilometers down the beach and a couple kilometers out in the ocean, a local fisherman had picked up Kevin Zimmerman, who had stopped swimming and was merely floating, tired and unable to continue on for the moment. The fisherman took him home, where he was given a fresh set of clothes, a wonderful dinner, and a bed. Kevin was asleep before his head hit his pillow.

OFF: Here go those repairs!
ON:
Judd acknowledged Savot's permission, even as he was running down the corridor, toting a case. He dodged around a few people, and hurled himself into a lift. "Shuttle Bay Two!" he ordered. The lift whisked him away, and arrived a moment later.
Prepped by a call from the Engineering watch officer, a Worker Bee was standing ready, with the attachments and materials it would need to complete the job.
A minute later, Judd slide into the pilot's seat, with his case stuck between his knees. A minute after that, the Worker Bee was powered up, and the shuttle bay doors parted silently, from his point of view. Judd gave the throttle a gentle nudge, and the craft lifted off, gliding through the invisible force which made it possible to keep the bay pressurised at all times. Judd tapped the comm. =/\=Sandage to El Salvador, I'm clear, happy hunting!=/\= Then the Worker Bee went to full speed, which, compared to even a shuttle pod, wasn't very fast.
Several minutes later, Judd was at the business end of Platform One, using maneuvering thrusters to get into position over the particle emitter. Using some handy hard-point attachments on the skin of the station, Judd locked the Worker Bee into place, and got to work.

Ton'ta and Lt. Cmdr. Zimmerman discussed their part in the mission for a while after she had been assigned quarters and had moved into them.
"I can have part of the fragment transported to sickbay, if you'd like, or you could use my lab. I'll be busy locating the rest of the fragments, and I won't need the science labs at all."
"Thank you Lt. Cmdr., I think I will join you in your lab. I've spent way too much time in sickbay lately and it is well cared for. They know what they are doing and don't need me watching over their shoulder." She smiled slightly thinking how well the sickbay teams worked while she was still a guest on the ship.
"Very good. As soon as you've completed your analysis, or if you need any help or a second opinion, grab me and I'll review your progress before our teams begin to take measures to counter the fragments. I'll be in astrometrics for a few minutes, but I should be back in the science lab before long."
Ton'ta followed the Lt. Cmdr. to the science labs and got herself settled and ready for her scans.
(Off: I know I haven't responded to all the posts which have been made but this is a beginning. I hope to finish this post or do a second one completing the task later tonight.)

The meteorites were rather impressive for there size. There were many more than Ethan had expected which worried him since the probe had throughly scanned them. He pushed this thought to the back of his mind and helped coordinate there destruction.
It would take longer than thought, but it wasn't a difficult job. As Ethan looked at the view screen he wondered how something so small could hurt so many people. The mysterious of the universe seemed to be endless, but Ethan trusted Commander Zimmerman and Doctor Minn.
Right now Commander Zimmerman's team was on the planet trying to retrieve more samples of the rocks. Ethan had scanned the sea and saw that there were below average sea life, which was natural. Though as the scans went deeper, they had a harder time telling him was there. Ethan had informed the Commander of this, but he didn't sound to worried about it. As soon as he could he would contact him and see how it was going.
Before Ethan knew it the process was complete. The ships phaser banks were half full, but they could easily be replenished. Ethan gave a detailed report to Commander Savot and as soon as they were ready headed back to the planet. The trip had only taken a hour and a half, so the El Salvador was in communication distance rather quickly.
He immediately tried to contact the away team, but was met with nothing. He attributed this to distortion or radiation, so he hailed them again with an added boost. Even with the boost there was no response.
=^=Computer locate, the away teams shuttle. Maximum scans=^=
It took the computer only a few seconds to complete the scans, but what it told him was not what he expected. He pesonally did the scan again and found that the computer had been correct. There was no Federation shuttle on the planet. The only thing that he had been able to find was a weak signal from the shuttle's 'black box'.
"Commander we have a problem," Ethan said as he proceeded to report what he had just discovered.
<Tag Savot>
OOC: Okay I'm presuming that ships still have 'Black boxes' which I think just means there computer. If I'm wrong please tell me so I can change that tidbit. Also Simon if you don't want to be found quickly, tell me.

OOC: No, Kevin's going to be taking an unwanted leave. The other two shuttles will have made it back to the El Salv and should be able to give a general area for the third shuttle's last known position. However, you won't be able to lock onto commbadges, because I've made sure all of those got lost. Take your time finding the three surviving members.
IC:
Saliberus and Fenchurch woke up and found the sun was already rising quickly. They retreated into the nearby woods, hoping to find some way to contact the El Salvador. Saliberus pointed out that someone would investigate their disappearance, so they shouldn't wander too far. However, a combination of hunger and lack of rescue told them both that finding food was their highest priority. They began searching more eagerly for any sign of civilization...
Meanwhile, Kevin woke up to find his uniform missing. The fisherman had apparently fetched a good price on the local market, and was more than happy to have given Kevin a warm bed, dinner, and breakfast. Kevin tried to thank the man, but he spoke very bad English, so it took some time. Eventually the man understood, bid him farewell, and escourted him to the door. Kevin was pointed in the direction of the local town - apparently, he had found one of the least technologically advanced settlements, something akin to an Indian Reservation on Earth. He wondered what he could hope to trade for passage to a larger city.

After three cramped, tedious hours in the cockpit of the Worker Bee, Judd's uniform was soaked with sweat, but the result was a new, perfectly-calibrated particle emitter on Platform One. He took a moment to wipe his face before tapping the comm. =/\=Sandage to El Salvador, I've completed the emitter repair on Platform One, and am returning to the ship. Sandage out.=/\=
Judd disengaged the docking claws, and the Worker Bee slowly drifted backwards, away from the platform. With a careful nudge of the thrusters, Judd propelled it upwards, clear of the platform, and began to turn, preparing to scan for the El Sal's current location.
Something clanged against the hull of the Worker Bee, startling Judd enough to make him yelp. He turned his head to the left , where the noice had originated, and something else hit the hull, this time from above. Judd's fingers poked at the console in front of him, nringing up the sensor display, and he gulped. Hundreds of tiny meteorite fragments were flying around. These would be no threat to the planet, since they would burn up long before they hit the ground, but they were hazardous to small craft. Like a Worker Bee.
The tiny repair craft was jolted, and the sensor display suddenly went blank. Judd jammed the throttles forward, shooting the Worker Bee out of the micro-meteorite shower. He called up the comm function, which was thankfully, still working. =/\=Sandage to El Salvador! I got a problem here, a shower o' micro-meteorites has knocked out m' sensors, and I'm flyin' blind! Request assistance!=/\=

Wolf and Parsons had finished mopping up the meteorites and the El Sal had returned to its orbit around the planet. Mr. Hope and the Captain were brainstorming on what could have happened to the shuttle when the call came in from Sandage.
"Sandage to El Salvador! I got a problem here, a shower o' micro-meteorites has knocked out m' sensors, and I'm flyin' blind! Request assistance!"
"Acknowledged Lieutenant," responded Parsons. "Mr. Wolf, lock on a tractor beam and guide the Worker Bee into the main shuttlebay."
<TAG Wolf>
"Parsons to Engineering, Damage Control Team report to the Main Shuttlebay immediately. We have a damaged Worker Bee being tractored in....
....Bridge to Medical Bay, Have a medical team meet me in the Main Shuttlebay."
"Captain, with your permission...."
Savot nodded and Parsons was in the turbolift on his way to the shuttlebay.

Looking back down at his displays " under stood sir I'll have back aboard in 2 mins" <Tag Parsons>
Wolf: Engaging the tractor bead he signaled Sandage " God I leave you alone for 5 mins and you hit a rock in space, Sit back Sandage I'll have you aboard in 2 mins would you like me to get you a drink and peanuts" Laughing alittle he engaged the tractor beam and started to guide the drone aboard.

Commander Savot would be on the bridge in a couple of minutes, but in that time Ethan would need to keep searching for the away team. The only problem was that the scanners were getting worse and worse as time passed. The radiation from the space rocks was interfering and pretty soon the El Salvador would not be able to perform the scans needed to find three people on a world of billions.
Ethan was positive that the away team were safe, they were experienced and led by a highly intelligent officer. If they followed his commands to the letter they would be safe.
"Computer, what was the last known location of the shuttle?" Ethan asked as the map grid lit up. The shuttle had been were it was supposed to be, but if the team was going to survive they would need to make it to shore. That in itself was a problem because the land mass surrounding the body of water was more than 842,930 sq. miles.
"Commander Parson's I recommend that we send an away team to find the away team, the sooner we start the better chance we are going to have of finding them," Ethan recommended.

The El Sal would now have to deal with two problems. Saving the planet and finding there crewmen hopefully alive. Ethan only hoped now that he could help in any of the two missions.

Saliberus and Fenchurch got lucky - they stumbled across what appeared to be a visitors center. Inside, there was a large map with a star. Neither officer could read the letters around it, but both agreed it meant, "You are here." There was a very large pentagon which looked rather important. It was very far away, across one ocean and in the middle of another continent. Several smaller pentagons dotted the planet's surface, the closest of which (titled "Ch'bikuk") Saliberus commited to memory. He and Fenchurch headed in the direction of the nearest pentagon, hoping to find a way to communicate to the El Salvador there.
On their way, they passed an open air market. Fenchurch had an old digital watch (broken, now), and traded it for some food, which was wolfed down by the two officers. They continued on their way, occasionally mentioning Ch'bikuk and being waved in its general direction.
Kevin Zimmerman was less fortunate. He had not gone very far before a large vehicle, a hovercraft of some kind, picked him up against his will. On board were many musicians, with odd-looking instruments. None of them resembled the trumpet Kevin was familiar with, but one resembled a harpsichord from old Earth. The noise inside the hovercraft was deafening, and as he familiarized himself with the alien keyboard, its owner clapped joyfully and brought out a second, apparently keen on starting a duet. Wherever the hovercraft was headed, Kevin hoped it was somewhere important.
OOC: The reason Kevin, Saliberus, and Fenchurch cannot understand the natives is because their commbadges are missing. Without the commbadges, they have no Universal Translator, and cannot understand what anyone is saying. An away team sent after them will be able to understand the natives.

Judd chuckled tensely as he felt the tractor beam take hold of the Worker Bee. =/\=Right about now, I think I'd be better off with a rare steak and a Bloody Mary,=/\= he replied.
a few minutes later, the Worker Bee jounced to a halt in the shuttle bay. Judd popped the hatch and clambered his way out, looking none the worse for wear, apart from a sweat-drenched uniform. "Last stop, thank y'all for flyin', and enjoy yer stay!" he muttered to himself, then looked up and saw Mister Parsons. "Well howdy, sir! Y'all might wanna fine-tune the sensors to scan for fields o' them micro-meteorites, they be a hazard t' small craft." Then he sniffed at himself. "Ye gods, I reckon I better git m'self to a shower, pronto. With yer permission, sir?"

OOC: This post takes place during and between a few of the most recent ones, it should make sense as you read through it.
As he heard Adam take hold of the recovery of Mr. Sandage, Savot had escorted Zarice off the bridge to the adjoining briefing room to address her alarm at the repeated sensor lapses allowing first the debris wave they had just engaged and just now this micro-meteorite storm to slip by unnoticed.
"Councilwoman Zarice, your concerns are understandable. However, contrary to outer appearances these events have actually assisted our efforts significantly. Both the debris we destroyed and the micro-meteorites seen by Lieutenant Sandage have given us valuable sensor data that when studied in further detail will add to the efficiency of both our locating and destroying the remaining debris while, fortunately, neither inflicted further harm upon your world. As it stands, we have received a high benefit for a negligible cost. You have my word as both a vulcan and a Starfleet officer that no member of this crew will allow negligence of any kind to increase the risk to your world or its inhabitants", the vulcan explained in as comforting a way as he was able. This sort of thing was not his strong suit, nor that of most vulcans, but as in every other task he was assigned Savot would employ the full extent of his abilities in his attempt to accomplish it.
<Insert Zarice response, if any, here>
Fortunately Savot's absence had coincided with the informal exchange of communication between Wolf and Judd, the vulcan emerging only just in time to catch Adam's orders for a medical team and give the Commander a nod of approval for him to leave the bridge and check on the engineer.
As Ethan had been meticulously focussed on his sensor readings he hadn't noticed Adam's departure. "Commander Parson's I recommend that we send an away team to find the away team, the sooner we start the better chance we are going to have of finding them," Ethan recommended.
Savot walked forward to stand beside the Ops chief, leaning slightly to observe the sensor displays, "I concur Mr. Hope... though the growing sensor interference could extend to disrupt communications as well. I don't wish to have any further crew cut off from the ship should that occur, so the search party will consist of the two adapted shuttlecraft." Before he could continue, the intercom sounded with the doctor's voice.
=^=Commander Hope, please report to the science lab=^= Doctor Minn asked.
Savot nodded his approval right away, =^=On my way doctor=^= Ethan said making sure to leave all the information for Commander Savot. As the turbolift doors swallowed Ethan's form the vulcan did indeed take the vacant Ops seat and begin examining the data, bringing up the logs of their engagement with the first wave of debris and cross-referencing it with the data Kevin had gathered from his labwork with the fragment they had beamed aboard. If possible, they would need to find a method for adapting the sensors to screen out the growing radiation interference. On that note, Savot tapped his combadge.
=^= Bridge to Sandage. When the medical staff has cleared you for duty, report to the bridge to report the repair teams' progression thus far =^=, came Savot's voice, unintentionally delaying the engineer's hopes of a good shower for the moment at least. Under non-critical circumstances a less strenuous work intensity was acceptable. Were it only the incoming debris crisis that faced them there was still sufficient time before its arrival to allow for periodic relaxation, but with the additional complications of both the missing recovery team and the growing sensor interference every officer was taxed to the limit. Savot himself would leave the bridge if he were not in overall command, and even this obligation was being taxed by the increasing crises. If too much more occured, especially with Zimmerman's status unknown, Savot would be forced to leave the bridge and apply his own direct efforts to the tasks at hand.
Coming back to the question of Kevin's unknown fate Savot concentrated on that facet for the moment. He would naturally organize and send out the two other shuttles to perform a closer-range search, the first of which would be to locate the 'black box' Ethan had gotten a bead on from the lost shuttle. It might contain pertinent information as to the fate and potential location of Zimmerman and the other team members. For a task this widespread; however, he would need to employ local aid as well...
Turning in the Ops chair as though he had never sat anywhere else, he faced Zarice who had returned to the bridge now that the activity here had dimmed down somewhat, "Councilwoman, though we are here to give you our assistance, I now require your aid in return. As you previously heard, the officer in command of the fragment recovery effort and his team cannot be located or contacted, the cause of which is as yet unknown. As we retrieve more data we will be able to narrow our search, but it is essential that you augment our search parties with your own forces on the surface, not only to aid in the safe recovery of my personnel but also to most efficiently expedite the removal of the remaining fragments from your waters. Captain Wolf can open a channel to your fellow council members; I must focus my attention on coordinating the rescue efforts and analyzing our sensor data thus far. I implore you madame to enlist the help of your personnel in finding our retrieval team."
Savot turned back to the console to begin diligent study of the data they'd collected so far.

Zarice was no scientist, but she understood how the scientist on board had gained valuable information from the last wave of meteors. She also noticed that the Vulcan Captain seemed to feel the need to explain himself to her. It was a bit annoying at times, but she would deal with it. The information that he shared with her was important so she wouldn't complain about that.
Zarice didn't follow the captain back to the bridge immediately, She wanted to contact her daughter who was ill. Unfortunately she was not able to get through an decided to give up. Zarice had the most important thing in her life in the hands of strangers. There was no way around it.

"Of course, Captain, all I need is for you to get me in contact with the Council building," Zarice said as she walked up towards the station that he had indicated for her. Only a few moments passed and then she was met with her counterparts face.
"Darko, I need to you to assemble the 23rd Mountaineer Search Brigade," Zarice said," they will help out in a search for three Federation officer's. I want Commander Jarnus to lead the team and tell her that this is of high priority."
"Understood Zarice," Darko responded and cut off the transmission.
"Captain, the 23rd is our best team, they will find your away team," Zarice said glad that her people would be able to help them. "Captain I also have one more request, if your doctor's require patients I ask that one of them be my daughter."

Commander Parsons stepped through the shuttlebay doors to see the Worker Bee tractored in. The damaged control teams rushed in and sprayed the damaged vehicle with a protective foam to prevent plasma fires and neutralize any residual radiation.
Meanwhile, the medical team pulled Lieutenant Sandage out of the cockpit and examined him. A hypo injection later, Sandage emerged from the medical team and walked toward Commander Parsons, who was between the craft and the door leading to the corridor.
Judd looked up and saw Mister Parsons.
Parsons smiled, "Good to have you back in one piece Judd, permission granted." With that, Adam slapped the Chief Engineer's back and headed for the bridge. "Parsons to Savot."
"Go ahead, Commander," replied the Vulcan.
"Mr. Sandage is doing well and headed to his quarters and repair efforts are underway on the Worker Bee," reported the XO.
"Very good, Mr. Parsons."

"Captain, the 23rd is our best team, they will find your away team," Zarice said glad that her people would be able to help them. "Captain I also have one more request, if your doctor's require patients I ask that one of them be my daughter."
Savot, who was just then taking an engineering kit he had requested from the hands of one of Sandage's people. After setting it down on the deck beside the base of the Science station, he turned in response to Zarice, "Our medical staff will be glad to offer whatever aid they can, though I'm sure you're aware that the preliminary tests are the most dangerous as the doctors pursue the proper treatment methods and dosage of the required medications. I'll have Doctor Minn report her progress thus far, and after hearing it if you still wish to have your daughter among the first patients, inform the doctor and she will either beam down or have your daughter transported to our sickbay for treatment."
<Insert Zarice & Minn dialogue>
Savot then moved Kevin's chair aside and laid himself down on the deck underneath the science console, removing the panel on the base to reveal the inner workings. With the engineer standing at the console to monitor and report sensor effectiveness back to the vulcan as he adjusted them from the inside, Savot set about eliminating any further sensor discrepancies.
After starting a diagnostic that would take several minutes to cycle through, Savot leaned to a sitting position and tapped his combadge, =^= Bridge to Mr. Hope. What is the status of your assistance to Dr. Minn? When her need of you is complete I want you to lead the shuttle team's recovery of the remaining radiated fragments. The recovery must take priority; however, if you are able to retrieve any useful data from the lost shuttle's recorder by all means do so. Mr. Zimmerman made mention of large shark-like creatures before his departure. If possible, gather data on the creatures before submerging the shuttle. It may be possible for you to adapt the sensors to emit a signal to repulse the creatures and allow you to recover the fragments unhindered, if such creatures were in fact the cause of the shuttle's loss. Savot out. =^=
