Wolf: Saw Judd walk into the briefing room and take a seat they started talking when Judd noticed his colloar
"Wow, a Major already! Are you looking to collect the entire set of Marine rank insignia in one tour?"
Laughing a little " No I'm not I was just as shocked as you are although I have to admit I'm going to miss being called Captain. Besides it wont be to long before I have to call you Commander"
Looking around the room he noticed people showing up but no Commander Parsons. Checking the computer he learned that he wasn't going on this mission. He had be selected for advance training. He still looked around and started to wonder who was going to cover for him on this mission. Taking a seat next to Judd because he was the only person he really knew they waited for the briefing to begin

=^= All El Salvador crew, return to ship at once for immediate departure. Senior officers to the briefing room in 10 minutes, Bridge out.=^=
Kevin's shoulders drooped and he tossed the tennis ball to the side. "Sorry, Kaitlyn. Duty calls."
The woman at the other end of the tennis court rolled her eyes. "And having lost the last two sets has nothing to do with leaving. I suppose we'll continue this the next time you manage to get back here."
"Sorry," repeated Kevin. "Computer, end program." The tennis court disappeared along with all of the rackets and balls. Captain Mallory Westfield, assigned to the Marine detatchment in San Francisco, followed Kevin out of the holodeck and bid him a final farewell before they left for their respective stations.
Seven minutes later Kevin was showered and in the briefing room. Parsons was gone, off at the ATTC. Gonto, who Kevin wasn't familiar with, was not there, and neither was Santos. Kevin had chatted with Santos before, but he really wasn't good friends with any of the officers besides Savot and Irae. Kevin had not spent very much time with any of the other department heads while off duty, had not really been in dangerous situations with them as he had been with Savot (though that had been a long time ago). And he remained one of the younger officers. Santos, Sandage, and Parsons had all passed Kevin in rank, but Kevin had been their senior by multiple grades when they had first arrived, and Kevin couldn't help feeling... outdated, or older, despite his relative youth. And so he found himself sitting quietly, waiting for the meeting to start, while the officers who were present chatted amongst themselves.

Savot had been the last one to enter the briefing room before the Captain, as he had taken a kind of mental roster of each senior officer as they reported in and entered. Captain Irae arrived shortly thereafter with roughly 20 seconds to spare on her 20 minute deadline. Sitting down at the head of the table she got right down to business.
"Afternoon gentlemen, as ye've all no doubt noticed and some may have heard, Commander Parsons will not be with us on this mission as he's been selected for an advanced command training program. Tis a shame he had t' leave without a decent farewell but he knows our best wishes go with 'im", Irae then faced the new arrival, "An' on the subject o' roster changes, I'd like t' welcome Commander Travor Gonto who's joinin' us as our helmsman. With luck we'll 'ave time for a welcome that's less short an' sweet later but fer now we're on the clock people. Mr. Savot, please present the mission details."
The vulcan nodded a silent acknowledgement of the orders and tapped a series of buttons on the conference table in front of him, bringing an the image of a planet to each officer's personal console before them, "We have just become aware of a dire situation on the planet Jevon 2. The planet is home to the Federation's most prestigious psychological research and rehabilitation center in this sector, and it seems a hostage situation of a highly unstable nature has arisen therein."
Savot hit another series of buttons, shrinking the planet down to a smaller window within their image screens and brought up a large closeup of a distinguished looking human male of caucasian descent, "The man depicted here is former starship Captain Randolph Philips. He is among Starfleet's most highly decorated officers, though unfortunately the majority of his dossier is so clandestine in nature that very little of his career is available to anyone below the rank of Admiral."
The First Officer then shrunk that image as well, bringing up a brief bullet-point report regarding the man, "Captain Philips has been a patient at the Jevon 2 facility for the past 5.72 years as a result of what his record identifies as 'Mission-related Traumatic Stress'. The record states that shortly after a memorial held for those of his crew lost during their last tour of duty, Captain Philips lost control and became a danger to himself and those around him. Thus far, his file at the facility shows no history of difficulty during his hospitalization."
"However, for whatever reason he has become active and highly dangerous within the past 24 hours. It would seem that he broke free of his quarters during yesterday's medication rounds following the patients' breakfast. Captain Philips is an especially combat-proficient officer and quickly subdued and disarmed the guard who accompanied the nurse on his rounds. His mental strain and years of inactivity have not dulled his skills; unfortunately, as the last visual confirmation from within the facility confirmed his being both armed and in control of the building's central operations office with the facility's head supervisor and at least 6 staff members restrained", Savot then called up some technical data on the facility's full compliment of patients and staff, "However, from that control station Captain Philips is capable of harming or killing the entire 263-person compliment of patients and staff."
"Captain Philips, having been a man of battle, and visualizing himself a cripple of sorts within this facility, likely has no hesitation at facing his own death and as such may be impossible to deal with rationally in order to secure the safety of the hostages", Savot turned to face Wolf, "Major Wolf you will be tasked with formulating and leading a breach of the facility with the primary goal of securing the hostages' safety and secondarily the safe capture of Captain Philips. You are; however, authorized to use lethal force against the Captain should you judge it necessary to protect the hostages."
Bearing a seemingly endless amount of bad news, he brought up yet another image, this time of a Defiant-class vessel, "Additionally, this vessel, the U.S.S. Fury was Captain Philips' former command during the Dominion War. Following the capture of the Cardassian homeworld it was seconded for auxiliary duty as a system-patrol ship as Starfleet lacked the resources to fully repair all of the vessels damaged in that last battle. The chief psychologist's report on Philips states a belief that the Fury's decommissioning and the separation from the surviving members of his crew was what caused the initial 'fault line', if you will, within the Captain's subconscious. After that, the day-to-day strains of a Captain's responsibilities could very well have been all that was necessary to fracture it completely."
"To the point; however, the Fury was reported missing from the shipyard she'd been assigned to 10 hours ago. Three members from Philips' original command team have also turned up AWOL from their current duty assignments. Times vary as the shifts they were assigned revealed their absences at different intervals, but it would seem safe to assume that these 3 incidents form a pattern, not merely a line. It's possible these officers may have somehow, either prior to or after the escape, gotten word of their former Captain's situation and hijacked the Fury in an attempt to aid him out of long-standing loyalty", Savot then shrunk all the windows to the same size, leaving them open to individual controls so each officer could bring back up whichever ones they wanted to review.
"Needless to say, an unstable being returning to the helm of an offensively respectable starship is no more desirable overall than having the center's people at risk, but if no ground-based solution presents itself we will allow him to board the Fury if it arrives in order to deal with him ship to ship and reduce the number of innocents at risk", Savot then sat back in his chair, his hands clasped together steepled on the edge of the conference table. "I presume there are questions, and though our information is, as stated, limited, I will provide as much as possible."
<Tag everybody. Sorry for the huge length, the background explanation ended up longer than I imagined originally. Questions about Philips and his crew specifically will be difficult to answer right away given the confidential nature of most of their missions, but technical things about the ship/planet/clinic and such I'll do my best to provide straight away.>
