Realizing that he was no longer a teenager himself, Matthew Reynolds was happing to finally take a break. Since his son Caleb had been released from sickbay he had spent every waking moment with his son. This normally wouldn't have been a problem, but Caleb hated to sleep. According to him, it was a complete waste of time.
As these thoughts floated across Matt's tired mind, he couldn't help but smile as he saw his son sleeping on the couch exhuasted. If things went well for him, Caleb would sleep for about seven hours. While he wouldn't trade this time with Caleb for anything in the universe, Matt was alarmed at how much work had accumalted on his desk. Not willing to neglect his duties as captain, Matt began to read the departmental reports.
While Matt normally enjoyed reading these reports, he realized how bland they truly were. An hour a forty three minutes later, Matt finished the reports and turned his attention to the crew manifest. Matt was saddened to see that Ensign Orlov was leaving the Jefferson, but was pleased to see a promising lieutenant take his place.
"Computer, set aside twenty minutes at ten hundred hours tomorrow, so that I can speak to Lieutenant Teyno," Matt said glad that he could use the computer as a schedule book.
Feeling that he had taken a good chunk of his workload out of the way, Matt put away the reports and changed into some civilian clothes. He had promised MC that he would have dinner with his friend before he was to leave back to Assaliant.
Even though Matt had worn his regular clothing before his new appearance took some people by surprise. While he just laughed their reactions off he was not pleased to see that many of the Jefferson crew were still working.

Since he didn't really have anything to do he decided it was time to explore the ship. It would take some time for the info on Commander Garrett to come in. Picking up Sandy and letting her wrap around him she blended her colors to match his desert robes. He had changed when he returned into more relaxed clothes.
He decided to exlpore the ship a little and maybe meet some of the crew. He also wanted to goto the holodeck first. It had been along time since he had been home and wanted to feel sand under his feet even if it wasn't real.
Walking the halls of the ship he found the holodeck and entered, with a few quick adjustments he program the sand dunes of his home world and increase the heat as well for sandy. She love to lay on the hot sand and she had been cooped up for a long time. With a simple push they were standing on a sand Dune. He could feel joy coming from sandy as she kept her self wrapped up around him. To most people it might appear she was trying to hurt him but to him it was a sign of effection and love. Sandy had been his protecter since child hood and would never allow anything or anybody to hurt him as long as she lived.
The only problem was the bound between him and sandy ment that when he died she would die to. This didn't sit well because she could easyly out live him but when bound it changed the life span it was done freely and willingly. He sat down to relax and clear his mind it was time to relax and see what he could learn about him self and his new home. <Tag anybody>

"Hell to pay?" Nathan mused, wondering if Reynolds at all realised what he was saying. The doctor was walking down the corridor, following his cat Sox while trying to shake a feeling of nervousness. Later, he was going to go to see Cyle, along with Jayden, before going to see MC in person as well. He was eager to get married, and didn't really want to wait too long.
"Hell to pay," he repeated as he spotted the cat, "I have to talk to him about his use of words. Certainly not everyone can just up and leave? What if there's a medical emergency?" Not that his father would allow him to get back to work yet, no he was enjoying a few more days of forced leave, whether he liked it or not.
"Sox!" he called as the feline approached a set of double doors, which opened upon detection of the feline. With a faint 'miauw' the cat slipped in. Nathan picked up his pace, just getting the doors when they slid shut again. He stepped in, wanting to catch his pet and just go home. To his surprise, a program was running, after which he realised the doors shouldn't have opened just like that.
The doctor froze when he saw a large snake lying on the beach, Sox fearlessly approaching it, hackles risen and hissing furiously. Quickly, he snatched up the cat, ignoring his claws and bites. "I apologise, I didn't realise this holodeck was taken," he apologised. He took a few steps forward. "I don't think we've been properly introduced yet." He shifted the cat to his left arm, then held out his right hand. "Nathan," he introduced himself, "ship's doctor."

He felt the vibrations on the sand from a small animal when the doors open and then, the vibrations of some else walking on the sand. He opened his eye's to see a Cat he had never seen a real one before. It's attention was focused on Sandy who at the moment was enjoying the hot sand and could care less. Sandy didn't see the poor cat as a threat or even food.
He chuckled to himself thinking that she didn't want to deal with the fur. He attention went to the Nathan who he had never really been introduced too. Standing up watch the doctor hold his cat with some concern about a snake and seeing an out stretched hand.
" We've met although at the time you were not yourself or awake. I came to sick bay to check on you during our mission even had a one sided conversation with you." He took the doctors hand and shook it.
" I'm sorry where are my manners I'm Commander Desert Pride most people just call me pride. My friend on the ground there is Sandy don't worry she wont eat your cat she likes her food with less fur and a lot bigger then a snack. I'm serious though she wont hurt the cat''
Nathan shivered at the sight of the approaching snake and held on a little tighter to the struggling cat, his hand now showing several bloody scratches. Upon reassurance, he released the feline, unable to hold her any longer.
He felt sandy moving toward him and wrapping herself around him working her way up to his shoulders and mid section. She seemed very interested in the doctor and he knew what she wanted. She craved attention and wanted to be scratched.
"Why Doctor I do believe Sandy likes you and wants you to give her a pet. If you could be so kind it would really hurt her feelings if you didn't she doesn't bite. She my protector has been all my life she quite lovable and desperate for a scratch"
He waited to see what the Doctor would do most people didn't like snakes but that was there loss. He noticed she was already changing colors to blend into his clothes at a far off glance you would notice up close you would know something was wrapped around him.
Hesitating, Nathan extended his hand to the snake, then smiled when the creature appeared absolutely docile. "Why, she feels soft," he murmured in surprise, "and she responds too...extraordinary!" He peered a little closer. "Chamaeleon skin?" he asked, curiosity peaqued.
" I'm happy that our mission allowed for the safe return of the children. Its a crime to use children in a game off conquest. I'm sure sooner or later your going to want me down for a physical can't say I'm looking forward to that. No offense Doctor but I have found since rejoining the human species that Doctors ask alot of questions about certain abilities and its hard at times to put them into a context that you would understand. Although maybe this time will be different you seem to be alittle older and wiser then most I have dealt with."
The doctor's jaw clenched tight at the mention of conquest in combination with children, his eyes flashing angrily, but he said nothing and forced himself to listen.
" My last doctor was like that she was quite" he paused he missed her allot '' quite on the ball and understood to the extent she could''
" Sorry about going on and on its been a little weired for my my last ship assignment was aboard the Scavenger scince then I was test pilot for star fleets ships and design team. I'm still new to the Jefferson and have not really gotten to know anybody yet"
"I deal only with the physical. I am not qualified to serve as counselor," Nathan answered honestly, "I care for your mental wellbeing, of course. You share with me what you wish to share, no more. Your physical is up before we leave on our next mission, report to sickbay then."

Teyno rolled his eyes. There would be more hell to pay if he discovered any of his security staff not working during the drills and duty hours he had outlined.
There was a chime at his office door and Teyno said, "Come in."
The doors opened to reveal the charming figure of Marina Garrett. She walked in.
"You wanted to see me, sir?" She asked.
Teyno smiled at her and gestured for her to sit down.
"Marina...may I call you Marina?" Teyno asked.
<Marina>
"I'll be blunt. This department is in complete disarray. I'm still unfamiliar with the ship, her crew, the department. I need someone to act as a liason, a guide to the ship's crew just in my first few weeks, while I get familiar with how things work around here. I realise you've only been on board a short time yourself, but I was wondering if you'd be up to the task? I just need someone who is familiar with the ship and crew to brief me on a few things."
<Marina>
"Excellent. Well, I have meeting with the Captain in a few minutes, but there are many matters I need to consult you on, are you free for dinner tonight?" Asked Teyno.
<Marina>
-------------------
Teyno pressed the door chime to the Captain's ready room and was told to enter from the voice inside. He entered and saw the Captain sitting at the desk. He was startled at how young the man was; this might prove more difficult than he had originally thought. But, he wasn't going to start by getting off on the wrong foot with the Captain.
Teyno extended his hand, "Lieutenant Teyno, pleased to meet you, Captain."

When Marina received a summons to her new boss’ office, a smile played across her face. Either she’d already done a really good job proving herself to be a good, professional officer or bagging the Lieutenant would be easier than she thought. A short (fifteen-minute) period spent examining her reflection in the mirror and fixing or changing anything deemed unacceptable, and Ensign Garrett was off to find out just how quickly she was currently progressing with her goal of eventual conquest.
Once outside his office, Marina signaled for entrance, and soon after, the doors slid open before her. "You wanted to see me, Sir?” she asked politely coming to a halt a foot or so in front of his desk at attention with her hands folded behind her back.
He motioned for her to sit and smiled at her, which she returned as she took a seat deliberately crossing her legs, though her expression remained professional. "Marina...may I call you Marina?" Teyno asked, and Ensign Garrett merely nodded to indicate he could. He could call her almost anything he liked... "I'll be blunt. This department is in complete disarray. I'm still unfamiliar with the ship, her crew, the department. I need someone to act as a liaison, a guide to the ship's crew just in my first few weeks, while I get familiar with how things work around here.” She could see where he was going, and was thrilled with her luck. “I realize you've only been onboard a short time yourself, but I was wondering if you'd be up to the task. I just need someone who is familiar with the ship and crew to brief me on a few things.”
“I’d be happy to help, Sir,” Marina replied immediately, adding, “I’m up for anything.”
"Excellent. Well, I have meeting with the Captain in a few minutes, but there are many matters I need to consult you on. Are you free for dinner tonight?" he asked.
It took every ounce of control, the little she had, to keep her face from lighting up, as this statement sounded exactly like victory to her. “Well...I actually did have plans with my sister, but since this is for work, she’d be the first to tell me to reschedule,” Marina lied smoothly. The rule was, never appear too eager for the first date. Always either turn down the first offer due to other plans, or at least create the illusion of having them. Megan would never know, and it was always good to use having her sister onboard to her advantage. “Name the time and place, and I’ll be there, Sir,” she added, allowing his choice of office or quarters provide an indication of intent.

At that moment, the perfect moment actually, her commbadge chirped to indicate an incoming comm call. =/\=Major Johnson to Ensign Garrett, report to my office.=/\=
Tapping her commbadge, Marina acknowledged the order before she closed the channel, offering Teyno a wry smile. “Duty calls...but I’ll see you later, Lieutenant.”
<Tag Teyno>
As soon as she had turned her back on Teyno on her way out the door, the smile of triumph she’d been restraining lit up her face. Sometimes she was so good, she even scared herself... Marina didn’t know what Cyle wanted, and frankly he’d had such perfect timing, she didn’t really care. He had given her the illusion of being in demand, which made her a more appealing, challenging prize, always a good thing.
Being the consummate professional she was, Marina walked the short distance to the SMO’s office very calmly, even though in her mind she was practically running a victory lap already. Sometimes, it just paid to be her... About half way there, the celebration began to fade and was replaced by curiosity. Why did Cyle want to see her? Given the day she was having, it wouldn’t shock her if he asked her out too, but he didn’t exactly seem the type, and he had appeared far from interested when they first met. The only thing she could do was wait and see, but he already was good in her book at least for the moment for having such perfect timing earlier.
Once she found herself standing before the Marine’s desk, she had fully composed herself and prepared herself as best she could for whatever reason he had called her. “You wanted to see me, Sir?” she queried, echoing her earlier words exactly.

(Sorry for such a long post.)
=^=Starbase where the USS Jefferson is currently docked=^=
Timothy Carvver had laid in his bed for what seemed to be hours tossing and turning all night long and yet Brianna laid perfectly still and sound asleep. He looked towards her, hair scattered over the white pillow and smiled lightly touching her forehead where she had laid on her stomach and faced him. Her arms were placed underneath her and thus he couldn't touch them. He had really laid there long enough and he was nervous, having recently been assigned to a ship known as the U.S.S. Jefferson. She was a Sovereign class ship, and he was unaware of her capabilities having done little to no research at all. He had of course looked at the information on most of the crewmembers that he was informed were on board such as Captain Reynolds and Commander Garrett. But, in his thoughts he'd decided it was best to get out of the bed.
He swung his legs around carefully and touched the floor, before finally standing up and walking towards the computer desk. He would just sit down when he'd heard a noise coming from the small bed in the corner and he looked. Is it just me or is Michael stirring in his bed? He thought to himself hoping that their two year old wasn't awake at this time. It was early in the morning still, and the family had spent days, yes days, traveling on board a cramped transport that took them to another starbase. Not only that, but it was the wrong starbase and they would have to board a shuttle which was even smaller, and then be flown to their current location. Little Mike didn't enjoy that very well, and had spent most of the trip curled up on Tim's lap. Which, Tim decided to stand up and walk towards the bed and look down.
He smiled seeing that his son was in fact simply rolling over in his sleep. It brought pleasure to Timothy to watch his own flesh and his own blood sleep. He had spent enough time in the lab and away from his family to know that it was difficult being a scientist, but hopefully living on the ship the next few years would be better. Tim had only joined Starfleet in search of somebody that he had never known.
He had sworn two years ago when his son was born that he would never leave them behind. He didn't want Mike and Brianna to go through what himself and his mom had gone through. Tim had known only one thing about his father, that he was a science officer aboard a Starfleet vessel. And, he looked through the records of the Jefferson, but there was nothing he could find about the person he was looking for. He couldn't even find a name, which was hard enough as it was, because Carvver was his mother's last name. Tim didn't know his father's first, or last name and aside from that he didn't know what he would say when he met the man either. If he ever met the man that had left his family for reasons that Jennifer, Tim's mom, had never explained, nor seemed to care to explain.
Tim walked back towards the computer desk and sat down, and he would begin to do more research on the ship that he was being assigned to. He wanted to know everything from the science labs to the science stations on the ship. Tim needed to know every capability from tactical to sensor to the probes that the ship carried. He had one degree, his bachalor's, but while he was on this ship he intended to get his masters then a doctrine. But, his family had always, and would always come first. He cared about duty yes, but he would do anything in the world to guarantee their safety.
=^=3 Hours Later=^=
Timothy had dressed, and managed to get Mike dressed as well while Brianna showered. He had been wearing his uniform to be more proper for when he climbed aboard the ship and the family grabbed their items and headed through S47 towards where the ship was docked. He grinned as they came aboard, "Ensign Timothy Carvver reporting for duty as the new chief science officer." He called out to a lieutenant that was standing duty.
"Hello Ensign your quarters are this way if you would follow me."
Timothy and family followed the Lieutenant in a security uniform until they arrived on deck five and walked down the corridor. Until finally he shown them their quarters and stepped aside the quarters were made up for a small family which was requested by Timothy when he had requested his orders from Starfleet as his family would be staying with him on the ship. They stepped inside and dropped their luggage, and Tim would sit the two year old on his bed with several toys that they'd bought for the child for the ship. He then smiled and kissed Brianna gently as she began to work out the bags.
With that he stepped over and started to unpack the luggage with her until eventually the things were all put away and they were able to sit and relax for a moment. For two days they'd been on the move and now they had finally arrived to their destination. Tim tapped the commbadge that he'd been wearing, "This is Acting Ensign Timothy Carvver to Commander Garrett. I am the new Science Chief, when is the best time for me to give you my orders and sit down to discuss the ship?"
<tag commander garrett>
With that he would await her reply as he knew that she was in charge while the commanding officer Captain Reynolds was on leave.

Nathan picked up his bag and his cat, delivered the pet home, then went to join his mate and children in the ship's pool. When he entered, he saw Freddy paddling happily across the water, Jayden lazily lounging to the side while cradling their baby girl.
Smiling, he walked past on his bare feet, having taken off his boots and socks at the door as was required for hygienenical purposes. "I'll be with you in a minute," he called, while walking towards the men's changing room. Indeed, after several minutes he came back, wearing his swimming shorts.
Jayden whistled playfully, causing the boy to turn his head and see why his father's partner whistled. He grinned, now understanding why. The boy swam towards the side with amazing strong strokes for one so young, and recently traumatised. Agilely, he climbed out and padded up to his father. Casting him an impish and mischievous grin, he then gave the man a firm shove.
Nathan, not quite expecting the move, tumbled into the water with a yelp of surprise. Jayden cradled Angel closer, shielding her from the splatter. "Look!" he then called, turning the girl around. "She smiled at me!"
The doctor submerged himself for a few seconds, then lazily swam over to the other side of the pool. "Did she?" he asked, clearly interested. He held out his arms and Jayden handed her over. The girl stared at him with her big dark blue eyes, one fist stuck into her mouth, happily suckling away on it. "Hmmm..."
"What is it?"
"Daddy what's wrong?"
Both men looked at eachother, then at the boy. "She smiled," Jayden grinned, "but your dad missed it." He ruffled his partner's hair. "Don't worry love, she'll dazzle you with her smile yet!"
Nathan smiled back. "Get him," he told his son, who happily obliged.

“Well...I actually did have plans with my sister, but since this is for work, she’d be the first to tell me to reschedule,” said Marina, “Name the time and place, and I’ll be there, Sir.”
"My quarters? 2100 hours." Said Teyno.
------------
Teyno entered his quarters for the first time. It was a spacious room, enough space for Teyno, anyway. He was glad he was one of the senior officers and did not have to share with any of the other crew. That would have got real annoying.
Teyno opened the bag that he had brought with him from the station and put away the few possessions he had.
Feeling a bit hot and stuff after the day's work, he removed the jacket and shirt of his uniform so he was just wearing the standard tanktop that most officers wore underneath their uniform.
He looked out of the window at the space station and yawned. Ensign Garrett would be by soon for dinner. He hadn't given much thought to what they'd have; he figured he'd let Marina choose.
At that moment, the door chime rang.
"Come in." said Teyno, turning around to face the door.

Immediately following her brief meeting and discussion with the operations officer, Megan got right back to work. The administrative duties of a starship First Officer were incredibly time-consuming, meticulous work, and unfortunately, with Captain Reynolds still on leave, the work was now doubled. In spite of needing downtime from the previous missions, Commander Garrett was feeling more than ready to get into a fire fight, break into an alien computer, or something, anything other than this mind-numbingly dull paperwork. While it was nice to not have lives on the line or be at immediate risk of injury or death, she was more than ready for a mission.
=/\=This is Acting Ensign Timothy Carvver to Commander Garrett. I am the new Science Chief. When is the best time for me to give you my orders and sit down to discuss the ship?=/\= the voice of their newest senior staff member requested.
“I’m available now, Ensign,” Megan replied, glad for the brief change in pace. Just reading and writing reports hour after hour was becoming monotonous. “Report to my office at your earliest convenience, Garrett out,” she added, closing the channel.
<Tag Carvver>
While Commander Garrett usually made a point to meet new crewmembers upon their arrival whenever possible, she made an exception for those who arrived with family. They needed extra time to transfer the additional belongings and then get the civilians settled into quarters, especially when there were children involved, so in those cases, Megan made it a point to give them some space to deal with familial obligations before introducing herself and discussing the job. However, she was also very aware of when they arrived and how soon they contacted her, if they did so before her. As far as a scale of timing was concerned, Ensign Carvver’s was perfect.
While waiting for the new science officer’s arrival, Megan reviewed the status of the department one last time. Although upon her promotion command had transferred to Commander T’Nar, the First Officer hadn’t entirely removed herself from her former department, and her Vulcan colleague, who was far more focused on science than the administration, certainly hadn’t minded. It was an unspoken arrangement, and with the arrival of the new chief, it would now be ending. Fortunately, that meant Commander Garrett was in a perfect position to update their newest crewmember on the status of his new department, from the staff to projects, and everything else.
Shortly after speaking over the comm, the new officer arrived, and Megan stood to greet him and shook his hand. “Welcome aboard, Ensign. Please, have a seat. Would you like anything?” the First Officer asked, gesturing toward the replicator.
<Tag Carvver>
Once he was seated, Megan also retook her seat and jumped right to business, as usual. “The department is in very good standing. There are several dozen projects currently in progress and divided equally between the labs, with Science Lab one permanently reserved for current missions, or the discretion of the Chief Science Officer. I found this to work best, as it keeps a lab always open for essential work related to immediate circumstances, and it also allows you some leeway with your own projects. I would recommend continuing this procedure, as it works rather well.”
“The duty roster has been very carefully arranged. There are numerous petty issues between officers and divisions, and this schedule is set to keep almost everyone happy and avoid even minor disturbances. I’m sure you’re used to the sometimes finicky nature of scientists, and while normally I expect officers to put aside personal issues for the sake of the work, we do have a large contingent of civilian scientists aboard. I’ve found it’s a whole lot easier to arrange things to avoid conflict rather than deal with all the skirmishes that arise if it’s simply left alone. It’s much more proactive and productive that way. I’ve documented every incident and what caused it, and I’d recommend updating as you go and referring to it before making roster changes if at all possible. Trust me, it will save you a lot of time in the end.”
Worried that perhaps she was already stepping on his toes, though she knew that her extensive documentation and organization would help him, Megan decided to be a little bit more open with him in an effort to prevent any current or future tension. “As you probably already surmised, I still have ties and a lot of input in my former department. However, now that you are here, that will change. I’m giving you this information simply to aid in the transition, and I promise you, I will make an effort to stay out of your way and avoid stepping on your toes in the future. I must confess, I will miss having a lab at my disposal, but I will learn to give it up,” the First Officer admitted, actually laughing a little and joking, not something that she normally did.

His quarters...an interesting challenge to say the least... Once he’d said those words, Marina had begun plotting and planning. Had he said his office or the mess hall, a uniform would have been absolutely without question, though she most likely would have gotten rid of the jacket at some point. Now came the most important question: what should she wear? Sure, she could find some sort of drop-dead gorgeous outfit and most likely get her way...well almost immediately, but the security officer was feeling that perhaps a little sophistication and subtlety was required for this operation. While winning and getting what she wanted was great, it was also a bit too easy. The best satisfaction came from getting what she wanted but without the other person even realizing that she wanted it all along, making them think it was their idea not hers, that they won her, when in fact, she made them win her. Now that was a challenge. Not only that, but it was so much better and it lasted longer, not that she was going for longevity necessarily, but it was good to have the option.
But what to do in the meantime...how would she play this one... Luckily for her, a few minutes later, a security call came in, and it provided the perfect opportunity...
~
Five minutes? Ten minutes? No…seven minutes. Quite on purpose, Marina was seven minutes late arriving at Teyno’s quarters. Her hair was pulled back in a very messy bun, so messy it looked accidental, when in fact, it was actually supposed to look like that, and perfectly curled too. Though her makeup was flawlessly done, a large smudge of grease streaked across her left cheek, and a much smaller, cuter one adorned the tip of her nose, also quite intentionally applied. And her uniform...
Her once immaculately pressed jacket was an absolute mess. Streaks of grease and oil adorned her left shoulder, right sleeve, and puddled in relentless big blobs all across the front of it. Underneath, she had made certain that the stains soaked through to her long sleeved undershirt, but left her tank-top untouched. All in all, the Ensign looked like she’d had a run in with a filthy engine and lost, but the mussed appearance also made her look cute and adorable, a fact Marina knew all too well.
“I am so sorry I’m late,” she stammered, pretending to be embarrassed both by her tardiness and appearance. “I got called to the situation with the injector assembly. Apparently, an engineer miscalculated or there was some sort of major malfunction, because all the lubrication got ejected into the control area. Several mechanics got covered in it and went to sickbay for accidental ingestion, and those who went to help kept slipping and getting hurt, so they called security because it was a hazard.”
Shaking her head, causing a perfect little pre-planned spiral curl to fall to her face, Marina expertly blew it out of her face and back into place before continuing. “We managed to get the situation contained, but obviously it took some work.” That much was true. As soon as the call came in, Ensign Garrett eagerly volunteered and had come out looking like she’d gone for a swim. Of course then she’d gone back to her quarters, fixed her appearance, and used the dirt on her other uniform to create this perfectly controlled illusion, but then Teyno didn’t have to know that...
“I must look a mess...” Marina confessed sheepishly. “Can I use your powder room really quick? I’ll be careful not to get any of this sludge anywhere,” she promised, before dashing off towards where she knew his bathroom was to create part two. Once inside, she removed her jacket, turning it inside out to avoid staining, before also removing the turtleneck and using it to clean her hands and erase the large smear of grease from her cheek and most of the dirt from her nose leaving only a tiny bit on the tip. That done, she washed her hands and observed her reflection.
Her hair was still perfectly disorganized, her face clean save the tiny hint of dirt on her nose which made her look adorable. Her pants and boots were clean, but she had very carefully misted her tank top so it was a tiny bit damp, not so wet as to be gross but just enough to stick to her just a little bit. This was going perfectly. Waiting a few minutes to add to the image of her frantically trying to clean up, the Ensign finally exited with a slightly nervous, sheepish expression on her face. “I’m sorry about this…thank you for giving me a minute,” she stated, smiling brilliantly at him before taking a seat. Then she carefully removed the clip from her hair and deliberately shook out the curls to fall loosely around her shoulder before offering him another smile. “Sorry again…now, let’s get right down to talking about work.”

Marina walked into his quarters, her uniform messy, grease adorning her face, but, Teyno had to admit, somehow, she pulled it off. She immediately stammered apologies for being late and tumbled into an explanation of how she came to be in her current state.
“I must look a mess...” Marina asked, “Can I use your powder room really quick? I’ll be careful not to get any of this sludge anywhere,”
Teyno gestured towards his bathroom and Marina hurried off. When she returned, she was wearing only her tanktop.
“I’m sorry about this…thank you for giving me a minute,” she said, smiling.
She removed her hairclip and shook her hair down and smiled at Teyno, a smile which he returned.
“Sorry again…now, let’s get right down to talking about work.” she said.
"Right...uh...work." said Teyno, "Okay, well, I've got a few things I'd like to go over with you," he said taking a padd from his desk and moving to sit down next to Marina on his sofa.
They spent about an hour going over things that Teyno needed to know about. After finishing one more tactical report, Teyno had had enough.
He stretched his arms over his head and yawned, "I am beat. You want something to eat?"
<Marina>
He went to the replicator and ordered two of the meal that Marina chose. He picked up the plates then moved back over to the sofa. He handed one to Marina, then sat back down beside her.

Even though he had enjoyed every second of his time with Caleb and Kristin, Matt knew that it was time to return to work. It had been a week since they had arrived at Starbase 47 and the guilt that was building up inside for leaving all the work for Megan was to overwhelming. Hoping that the events of previous mission would be far behind him, Matt made his way towards the bridge. Now Matt had made the trip to the bridge thousands of times, but this time it was entirely different. Everyone was surprised to see him and they couldn't help but murmur quietly.
At first this bothered him to no end, but he realized that it was just human nature to talk about the boss. Matt took it in stride and purposely stopped and asked questions which embarrassed those crewmen tremendously.
"Do I have something on my face Ensign?" Matt asked as he noticed the security officer staring at him.
"No, no of course not sir," the ensign said turning a shade of red that until then he thought was impossible.
"Well then carry on," Matt said as he walked away from the ensign with a huge smirk on his face. He knew that it had been wrong of him to do that to the young ensign and he would apologize at a later date.
As he made his entrance on the bridge, he heard Monica's familiar voice announcing his arrival. Everyone turned just to make sure that she wasn't lying and Matt was pleased to see that most people had smiles on their faces.
"Well everyone, thanks for letting me take a few days off," Matt said hoping to see his first officer," I hope none of you gave Commander Garrett a hard time."
"Just a little," Monica said as she gave Matt a hug," I know its unappropiate, but I've missed you sir."
"I've missed all of you as well," Matt said as he took his center seat and accessed his console," I will need to speak to to our newest senior staff member as soon as possible. Monica let Ensign Carvver know that I would like to speak to him."
"Does anyone know if we have been contacted for our new orders?" Matt asked of the bridge crew

"Right...uh...work,” Teyno replied, and Marina certainly didn’t miss his hesitation or slightly distracted look. So far, things seemed to be going exactly her way. “Okay, well, I've got a few things I'd like to go over with you," he continued, the somewhat glazed expression clearing while he moved to take a seat next to her on the couch.
Once the Lieutenant began to discuss work, Ensign Garrett put her evil plan on hold, at least for the moment, and truly focused on her job. After all, in spite of her current extra-curricular goal, Marina was actually a trained, talented security professional. Fortunately, along with guy watching/chasing, she had also been paying very close attention to the department and its personnel, so most of his questions were easily answered. A few of them couldn’t be answered fully by someone who’d only been aboard such a short time, but the security officer did the best she could and was completely honest with what she had seen and heard, and what she didn’t know.
They worked for about an hour or so, but to Marina it felt like only a few minutes. He was smart, funny, and as no-nonsense as he’d come across earlier, he seemed very comfortable around her, almost casual, while not overly so. As a boss, Teyno seemed pretty much perfect. As a potential boyfriend, the target on his...back was growing bigger by the minute. Fortunately, things appeared to be going well, but she could tell he was worn out from a long first day, understandably, but unfortunate.
When he started rubbing his neck and blinking a lot, she knew he was really starting to get tired, and sure enough, a few minutes later, he yawned, stretching his arms above his head, giving Marina a nice display of his muscled arms, which sent her daydreaming for a moment. Clearly, the Lieutenant spent enough time in the gym. "I am beat. You want something to eat?" Teyno asked, gesturing towards the replicator.
While technically, a date without a planned activity and meal came across as lazy, since this was technically a working dinner, that could be excused. Besides, she had never been a fan of ordering for a date or making something without knowing what she liked and didn’t like. Fortunately, Marina had a stand-by, first-date meal, for when it was a date out. “I’ll have Chicken Primavera,” Marina requested, since Italian was usually safe, there was no heavy garlic or onion flavors to ruin breath, nor lettuce or spinach that could get caught in teeth, making it the perfect choice, besides the fact that the vegetables and chicken said healthy without ‘health-nut.’
When he immediately jumped up to get it, in spite of being tired, that earned him yet another point, and she certainly had a nice view while she waited... Schooling her expression as he turned back around with their meals, Marina smiled and took the offered plate. He had decided to have the same thing she had requested, which to her came across as...respectful, like he thought that if she liked it, it would be good. That earned him some major points with her… “Thank you,” she said as he took a seat next to her, so incredibly tempted to see how far she could push him, but also knowing that it was way, way too early in the game to show him her hand.
Taking a few bites of her meal, making pointless small talk, her mind was spinning trying to think of some way to take advantage of this moment and to make some progress, so she could come away feeling like this was a complete and total triumph.
It was then, as usual, that another brilliant idea struck. “Oh…I was meaning to tell you, I’m not sure if it’s in the logs anywhere or where it would be, but awhile back, the CMO, Doctor van Breughel was ordered by the Captain to undergo self-defense and tactical training. Not much was done about it until he asked me, and we did a training session before he had another…well two heart-attacks. To his credit, he’s been trying to get it done, requested it multiple times, and asked me personally to help him out. I intend to continue that, but he’s a...well...challenge. I think between the two of us we might be able to do more, once he’s physically up to it of course.”
<Tag Teyno>
With that, Marina had presented a challenge that would require them spending time together to prepare for and time together with Nathan training, all while remaining perfectly professional. It was the perfect front and excuse to spend time with him.

OOC: Sorry about the short post. Haven't had much time today. Probably won't be able to post again until I get off LOA in a week or perhaps a bit longer...sorry!
They sat and ate their meals, and talked. It was pleasant. Marina had been most helpful. She was competant and confident. Teyno was growing to like her.
Then Marina said, “Oh…I was meaning to tell you, I’m not sure if it’s in the logs anywhere or where it would be, but awhile back, the CMO, Doctor van Breughel was ordered by the Captain to undergo self-defense and tactical training. Not much was done about it until he asked me, and we did a training session before he had another…well two heart-attacks. I think between the two of us we might be able to do more, once he’s physically up to it of course.”
Teyno looked at her for a split second, realising he hadn't heard a word that she'd said. He looked into her eyes then he took a chance; he leaned over and kissed her.

OOC: That's alright. That's pretty much all we can write anyway. LOL.
Marina knew she was doing well and had known she was certainly making progress towards her eventual goal, but apparently, she hadn’t realized just how well she was doing until suddenly, without acknowledging/answering her question or giving any advanced warning, Teyno leaned forward and kissed her, and Ensign Garrett was completely and utterly stunned. She was so surprised she didn’t even really kiss him back, just froze in shock until he pulled back and then just stared at him. ‘Wow…I am good…’ drifted through her mind before her lips finally curled up in a triumphant, seductive grin, and tossing her plate aside, she launched herself at him.
Sure, in that brief moment of surprise, Marina had considered that this was moving too fast. Perhaps she could play stunned, flattered, and shy, see if he then apologized, sent flowers, and then get him to ask her on a real date, but who was she kidding? He was hot, she wanted him, and now, obviously, he wanted her. It was simply really, so why make it any more complicated than that? Sure with a start like this it probably wouldn’t last, but really, what were the chances that anything would last? So dismissing all rational thought from her head, Marina threw herself whole-heartedly into the moment, and in the back of her mind, created a brand new column in her “Conquests” file, under the title of “Jefferson”, but simply added one tally and left the row name empty. It would end up being either “Teyno” or “Flings.”

OOC sorry for not getting back to you yet megan, you know how real life gets.

Cyle sat at his desk going over various reports and other things to keep his mind occupied, but the truth was he was thinking of Ensing Garrett, and he wasnt sure why. When she finally arrived, like clockwork his head cleared up and his thoughts came normally. Once she found herself standing before the Marine’s desk, she had fully composed herself and prepared herself as best she could for whatever reason he had called her. “You wanted to see me, Sir?” she queried, echoing her earlier words exactly.
"Yes i did, i've been thinking about you alot lately and i want you....i want you to transfer into the marines, I think you would be better served in your career as a marine officer. Your obivous talents that you've shown durning this last mission had led me to conclusion. The choice is yours of course, but I could use someone of your talents in my squad, as my second in command." Cyle knew that his words would take a few days to register but he was prepared to wait if necessary.
<tag Garrett>
When the ensign left Cyle tapped his comm badge once again, "Major Johnson to Cpl Mitchell, report to my office" Cyle waited until the marine arrived and then spoke after looking up from reports. "It has come to my attention that you have a question for me." the marine said, completly aware that he had forgotten what the question was, but knew there was a question.

"On my way sir," Jayden replied, then started to pull himself out of the pool. "Stay here, enjoy it for a little while," he told his mate, "you need the rest."
Nathan rolled his eyes but remained in the water. "I'll join you at home, after I've gone past sickbay to see father," he promised.
Jayden nodded, then got himself dressed. Since the order was to report immediately, he didn't take the time to completely dry himself, so by the time he did report, his shirt was damp, his hair still tousled.
"Ask, sir?" he queried, somewhat bewildered. Then he remembered. "Ah..yes sir. Nathan and I are getting married, and as you are my immediate chief, and a friend of the family, I was wondering whether you would be my best man."
The young corporal met his senior officer's eyes squarely. "I have no family I could ask sir," he added, "Nathan does but he requested the admiral's honour in this. I believe the admiral has consented."
Jayden had no idea how Cyle would respond, as he knew that he probably had expected that Nathan ask him. The marine corporal knew that they'd been friends for years; it'd been a tried friendship but a true one nonetheless. He waited patiently for the answer, he was in no hurry.
--
Nathan too hoisted himself out of the pool, a little awkwardly as he was still holding on to Angel. The infant crowed at him, waving litle fists in delight. He groaned as he finally sat on the pool's edge. "You like that, don't you little one," he murmured as he rose to his feet. "Your old man going through pains to keep you safe. No fear there little one, I will."
He carried the infant to the changing room, where he saw to her needs first, before getting dressed himself. Freddy had ducked into a seperate room, demanding that he could see to his own care. Of that, Nathan had no doubt. "Dad can I go play with Caleb?"
Nathan was pulled out of his thoughts and regarded his son. "Certainly. I will be in sickbay with your grandfather." He watched the boy run off and smiled after him. He'd gone through so much, but he was gradually returning to the happy carefree child he'd been before all of this.
With a fairly lively step, the doctor walked into sickbay and sought out his father. With a hint of annoyance, he allowed himself to be ushered to a biobed. "I'm fine dad," he growled, as a nurse took Angel from him, so not to confuse the computer's readings. "Really, I am."
"Let me be the judge of that," Peter grinned, "I want you to be well for your wedding. And I don't want to leave anything to chance."
Nathan, of course, could understand and underwent the examination without another protest. "Care for Angel for a while, I'm going to the bridge." He wasn't quite sure why, he just felt the need to.
When he finally did get there, he knew why. "Matt, can I have a word please?" he asked, not caring for rank for once. "Jayden and I still want you to marry us. I think it might be best if we do so before next mission." He glanced down on the still seated captain. "And as ship's doctor, it is also my belief that after all this, a party might very well raise crew morale. I think that you'll see my wisdom in this, even if you may dispute my sanity as well." He smiled brightly, masking his own concerns regarding his friend. Matt looked haunted, very much in need of cheering up. "Come dine with us tonight," he invited, "and we will set out our plans."

He had dropped Sandy off at his quarters and started to explore the ship. He knew the layout but wanted to see everything for himself. It was vastly differnt then the Scavenger was and wanted to get a feel for the ship. He had piloted many ships and every one was differnt even if they were the same make and model every ship had its own litte way do doing things.
He was exploring engineering the heart of the ship, he had found that engineers and pilots shared quite a few things in common. He was studying the warp drive the heart of the ship and was wondering when the next generation warp drive would be put in. Star fleet always drug the heels on upgrades running safety check and safety check. Could blame them really they wanted to make sure there were as few bugs as possible. Still the heart of the Jeffeson was something to be marveled at no matter who you were.

It hurt Matt deeply to think that he allowed his problems to overshadow his responsibilities towards his friends and crewmen. The second that Matt saw Nathan enter the bridge, he realized his mistake. "Matt, can I have a word please?" he asked, "Jayden and I still want you to marry us. I think it might be best if we do so before next mission. And as ship's doctor, it is also my belief that after all this, a party might very well raise crew morale. I think that you'll see my wisdom in this, even if you may dispute my sanity as well. Come dine with us tonight," he invited, "and we will set out our plans.""Just tell me at what time I should arrive at your quarters," Matt said wanting very badly to hug Nathan. Nathan understood what he had gone through and was not going to dwell on it," I think you are right, we deserve a little party before our next mission begins." =^=Attention Jefferson crew, If I find any of you working on our shoreleave, there will be hell to pay. Reynolds out!=^=
Those words seem to resonate inside the ears of the feline for a moment before he had most fully grasped their meaning in his head. After all, what he had thought of at first, for that, was returning to the United Federation of Planets Starship Fading Sun: the system that he had set up in the holodeck to model a Constellation Class starship the way it would have appeared in 2293. Never the less, the term shoreleave kind of forbade this fact. Furthermore, he understood it was probably best to get out anyways.
He of course recalled the fact that once he was quite chastised for the sudden outburst about his vessel. Engineer’s were naturally quite proud of their ships, to say the very least, however, he believed he had allowed himself to become exceptionally so, and this was certainly dishonorable. After all, he had been actually placed in the brig for that pride, before, due to the fact that he had acted out so irrationally due to the pride of his ship during a court proceeding.
Now, this was going to be his time to relax, regardless of mission performance or any other metric. This was going to be something new. Once more, he thought back to a flashback period, having been planet side where he was viewing a rare, fully theatrical performance of The Rite of Spring by Earth’s Igor Stravinsky. The performance had long been stripped to music due to the controversy that surrounded it during Earth’s early 20th century, and thus to see it performed in full was a rare pleasure indeed. However, that was cut short.
As he approached the transporter pad, these thoughts floated out of his head, now allowing him to see a new revelation – he did not have anything to do ‘over there.’
This was actually going to be boring.

His first day back on the job was a rather uneventful day and for the first time Matt preferred it that way. He could easily remember the days when he would have been excited to encounter a Romulan fleet or a Klingon Bird of Prey. His short time as a Starfleet captain have taught him that a boring shift is the best way to go. As he awaited the arrival of Commander Hayes, Matt began to think of the upcoming nuptials he would be performing. Nathan's wedding would be the first in a very long time and Matt wanted it to be special.
"Captain, sorry that I kept you waiting, I had a run in with one of the children," Hayes said as he tried to hide the noticeable wet spot on his uniform," it apparently takes a longer time than I thought for juice to dry."
"Don't worry about it Commander, Caleb has done the same thing to me," Matt said as he lowered his voice," I actually have an extra uniform in my office. I've come to expect these types of accidents."
"Thank you sir," Hayes said fighting hard to not look in the direction of Matt's ready room. Hayes had been there many times before and wondered were the extra pair actually was," is there anything that you would like me to do captain?"
"Yes, I want Cargo Bay three to be converted into a wedding hall," Matt said as he handed Hayes the specifics," the groom has not yet agreed to all of this, but I'm sure that I can convince him to allow me to throw the party of the year."
"Alcohol sir?" Hayes asked surprised at the requisition list.
"Yes, this will be the one and only time that the entire crew will be allowed to drink while on duty, but I will hope they will be smart enough to over due it."
"Understood, I'll make sure the word gets out," Hayes said as he took the center seat once Matt had vacated it," when will the wedding be taking place sir?"
"Hopefully in two days, but then again I have to get the grooms to agree to this," Matt said as he made his way out of the bridge and towards Nathan's quarters. He waited only a few seconds before Freddy opened the door. Caleb had told Matt how brave Freddy had been throughout the entire ordeal. "Thank you Freddy, I'm glad to see that you are feeling better."
(Freddy)
"You should come over to my quarters this week, I know that Caleb would like to see you," Matt said with a smile," he keeps telling me that he wants to show you his scare, but I keep telling him that he had none."
(Freddy)
"I hope your sister isn't sleeping," Matt asked wanting to hold Angel for a little bit. Even though her conception had some powerful consequences, she was cared for by the entire crew. As Freddy led Matt towards Jayden, he couldn't help but wish that he would one day have what Nathan had," Jayden, I didn't know a marine could get so good at holding a baby."
(Jayden)
"May I hold her?" Matt asked wondering where Nathan was.

Walking back to his quartes he figured it was time to change and make appearance on the bridge. Changing into his uniform he noticed a meassage on his work table he opened it and realized it was a permotiong to Commander 1st Class. It appeared he had been granted the new commission on there last mission. He quickly changed his rank and left for the bridge he need to get back to work he was rested and ready for what ever layed ahead.
He arrived on the bridge and took his station going through his normal checks. It was quite it seemed the rest was doing the crew some good after recent events which was good. He looked around wondering what there next mission would be <Tag anybody>

"Thank you Freddy, I'm glad to see that you are feeling better."
The five-year old nodded gravely. He didn't want to talk about what happened to him and his friends, not even to his own father. He stepped aside to let the captain in, then followed dutifully, still in utter silence though smiling shyly.
"You should come over to my quarters this week, I know that Caleb would like to see you," Matt said with a smile," he keeps telling me that he wants to show you his scare, but I keep telling him that he had none."
The boy's eyes lit up. "He can't scare me," he dared, "if dad says okay, I'll come over." He looked back over his shoulder, then beckoned Matt to come closer. "I think he wants to be alone with Jayden," he whispered, pretending to bring Matt in on a secret. "Angel's too young to notice anything, all she wants is sleep and food. But I'm smart, I know."
Jayden walked up to them with the baby in his arms. She was awake though happily suckling on the bottle that the marine offered to her. "She isn't asleep," he announced gently, "Freddy could you get us some refreshments? Perhaps you could go see if Timiny is at home, so you can pick up your pets. Or opa might want some company in sickbay."
The boy's mood brightened even further at the mention of visiting his grandfather in sickbay. He loved hanging around in the medical bay. After bringing down a pot of tea and three mugs, he waved, smiled and dashed out the door.
Jayen took a seat, very conscious of the baby in his arms and took great care not to jostle her. Leaning the bottle against his chest, cradling the infant close, he reached for the pot and deftly poured the hot content into the three mugs. "A marine does what he has to do, and try his hardest to do it right," the marine replied, a bemused smile on his face, "that and it wouldn't be right to hold my daughter in any other way."
"May I hold her?" Matt asked wondering where Nathan was.
"Certainly. I assume you know how?" Jayden sensed the captain wanted to ask something, and realised he understood what the question would be. "Nathan was taking a nap, he should be with us in a few minutes."
Exactly one minute later, a tousled looking doctor walked into the livingroom, stopping dead in his tracks when he spotted their visitor. "Excuse me," he murmured, then disappeared into the bathroom. A few seconds later, he re-appeared, wearing grey slacks and a white t-shirt, his hair decently arranged and in general looking more awake. "To what do we owe the visit?" Then he recalled the invitation. "Oh right."
Nathan took a seat on the couch next to Jayden and reached for the mug. "We'd like to get married as soon as possible. Admiral MC7of9 has consented to be my best man, and I believe Major Johnson has consented for Jayden."
The marine nodded. "We'd like a simple ceremony, though the party can be as elaborate as morale calls for. We believe everyone of the crew should be invited, as morale concerns everyone." He looked sideways at his fiancé. "Dress uniform might be best for the senior staff, but I think everyone should wear what they're comfortable in. This isn't really a military occasion."
"Not for me anyway," Nathan smiled, sipping his tea again. "You're expected to wear your dress uniform, I'll just dress to match. What do you think captain? Is two days too soon?"

"Ask, sir?" he queried, somewhat bewildered. Then he remembered. "Ah..yes sir. Nathan and I are getting married, and as you are my immediate chief, and a friend of the family, I was wondering whether you would be my best man." The older marine had not quite been expecting this question from his subordinate, since he had received what he thought to be hints from the good doctor. He sat for a moment to think over the question before speaking again.
"Don't you have any family Corporal?" The young corporal met his senior officer's eyes squarely. "I have no family I could ask sir," he added, "Nathan does but he requested the admiral's honour in this. I believe the admiral has consented."
Cyle leaned back in his chair and thought once again before voice his thoughts. "I know that Nathan and I havently excatly been the best of friends, but nor have we been the worst of enemys. Why do you wish for me to do this?"
<tag Nathan>
"Very well, I accept but under one condition, I am not making a speech." The marine looked sternly at the corporal, to let him know he was not joking, and had no intention of making any speech.

Now back in her own quarters, Marina was trying to sort through everything that had happened the previous day. She had been so focused on her goal, other things like the offer to become a Marine had flown under the radar, but only now that her mission objective had been successfully achieved did she actually, seriously start to think about it. Sure she had been surprised and flattered, especially since Cyle was pretty cute himself, albeit somewhat black-balled as he turned her down rather obviously before. The truth was that Marina had never even considered becoming a Marine. She was very good at being a security officer and had taken to most of the tactical side of the job rather well, but intense physical combat and that whole spectrum hadn’t been her forte. What she was really good at was the human side of the equation, reading people, predicting reactions, and observing the situation.
All things considered, from a solely career perspective, Marina was happy where she was, growing and learning as a security officer and expanding her tactical skills to be a better tactical officer as well. Being a Marine was a whole other step in an entirely different direction. She was new enough to the tactical side of things, and even newer still to being an officer and stationed on a starship. Those were things Ensign Garrett felt she really needed to work on and master before taking on such a daunting task. That had been her initial reaction as well, but at the time she had been rather distracted still thinking about her current goal. If she were honest with herself, she was still thinking about it... No, she was definitely where she belonged.
However, a girl would certainly be foolish to turn down such an offer entirely. This was still a chance at improvement and learning, an opportunity to grow even further than she’d ever thought possible, and Marina was many things, but foolish wasn’t one of them. She wasn’t so shortsighted as the completely cut off the potential of what could be just because of what was right now and the limits she felt she was under at the moment. Ensign Garrett would remain just that for now: a Starfleet Ensign and a security officer, but while she was training her typical tactical skills and adjusting to life aboard the Jefferson, there was no reason she couldn’t also try and learn some more advanced tactical skills from Cyle or the other Marines. It wasn’t like she couldn’t do both...not to mention the fact that as of right now, the thing with Teyno was only a fling and nothing serious. The same applied to that...

In spite of Matt’s announcement, Megan wasn’t exactly one to stop working…well ever really with the exception of extreme injury which would almost result in death, therefore, requiring and necessitating some physical recuperation. Then and only then would she relent, often forced to take an actual shoreleave, meaning going home. So she’d rest as ordered, visit familiar and nostalgic places, spend time with family...all perfectly pleasant things, but the minute the time requirement was met, Commander Garrett was back. Even then she would occasionally be unable to resist hacking into computer systems to determine what was going on or work on preparations for the next mission, but more often than not when forced to take such drastic action, she would comply with it. That way, she could hold her cooperation over the heads of those who thought she worked too hard, at least until next time.
Unfortunately, as a result of this practice of working through a typical shoreleave, there always came a point where she got caught up. It was the exact opposite of returning from shoreleave to find a backlog, and something Megan rather detested. Of course there were always things you could find to do, but something about the lack of necessity took the fun out of it, so she often ended up sitting in front of her computer terminal, conducting searches, reading random files, and unfortunately, not actually accomplishing anything. It was highly unproductive and frustrating…
The one good thing about Captain Reynold’s announcement was that it probably meant he would not be on the bridge or on duty, which made it easier to get away with working through shoreleave more openly with less chance of getting caught. As she arrived on the bridge, Megan had expected to find starbase engineers and personnel working on necessary upgrades and repairs rather than Jefferson crew but was rather surprised to find among the expected mechanics Commander Pride working at the helm. Feeling her attention on edge, the First Officer forced herself to relax. After all, he was a fellow officer and crewmember, not an enemy, in spite of the tension and disagreement between them. Deciding to attempt to allay those tensions, Commander Garrett smiled politely in his direction and approached him.
“What are you doing on the bridge, Commander? I thought the Captain’s orders were rather clear,” she teased, quickly adding. “If you don’t tell, I won’t. I’ve never really been one for taking time off myself. Catching up on sleep is one thing, but I enjoy keeping busy as opposed to recreation,” Megan offered, showing the tiniest hint of her personal side hoping to help foster a better working relationship. “I suppose it must be difficult for you being so far away from home. I know if we were closer to Earth, I wouldn’t get out of shoreleave so easy and get roped into spending more time with family. I love them of course, but…well if you’ve met my sister, than you understand,” Commander Garrett provided jokingly, attempting to appear relaxed.
