((Didn't think any of the 'loose ends' from the last thread were blatant enough that we couldn't manage to squeeze our final thoughts into this new one, and people seem eager to start a new assignment so I didn't want to waste time. Without further ado...))
The El Salvador left the Sol system after their brief respite, headed back out into the vastness of space to do their part in the grand galactic scheme. Savot sat in the Ready Room looking over readiness reports when a hail was routed through to his console from Starfleet Command, detailing their next assignment. The vulcan looked over the details and transmitted a copy of the mission overview to a datapadd which he carried with him as he exitted the room to return to the bridge.
Commander Jackson happened to be on the bridge at the time and it was to her that Savot passed the datapadd before taking his center seat, "These are the particulars of our new assignment, Commander. From your records I see you're personally familiar with the situation in question so I'd like you to present the briefing to the senior staff. We'll convene in the conference room in 3 hours."
Savot then activated internal communications to address the ship at large, =^=Senior officers, report to the conference room in precisely 3 hours for mission briefing. Savot out.=^=

Lieutenant Firestorm to Ennien, medical officer and scientist, had received last minute orders to report to the El-Salvador. The copper-furred Sivaoan quickly snatched up his pet cat - ironically, called Copper - his bag and his tricorder, then sprinted towards the shuttlehangar. A small bee was waiting for him to get him to the Prometheus class starship.
Firestorm had served on starfleet vessels before, the last one had been the Galaxy class USS Hepta, a training vessel, where he had served briefly as medical instructor. Now, he wasn't quite sure what he would be reporting at, though he believed he was to report to a Doctor Deis Irae. Presumably then, he'd be assigned as medical officer to her staf. If not, he would learn fast if he was assigned anywhere else. Firstly though, it was proper custom to report in to the captain first.
The bee angled upwards over the ship's saucer section, making a wide circle until turning around to the port dorsal docking hatch. Firestorm placed Copper on his shoulder, feeling her claws dig into his thick fur for balance. He slung his duffel bag over his other shoulder, keeping his tricorder in hand. "Permission to come aboard?" he asked the guard at the hatch.
Crewman Harald Clayborn nodded. "Permission granted lieutenant. May I see your transfer orders please?"
"Oh!" Firestorm flung down his bag on the deck and rummaged through it, tail coiling in triumph as he found the PADD. "Here, I'm assigned temporarily. It's all here." He tapped the PADD with a single claw.
Clayborn nodded and handed the PADD back. "Captain Savot should be on the bridge. Doctor Irae you can find in sickbay, probably. Enjoy."
The Sivaoan's tail coiled tighter in amusement. He had no need for PADDs or tricorders, not with his excellent memory, but he had found them quite useful as others sometimes would not rely in his memory for something to be accurate, or even proven. He found his way to the bridge easily, set his bag down, then displayed and retracted his claws in the Sivaoan way of greeting. "Lieutenant Firestorm to Ennien reporting for duty, sir." he announced. He could see the startled faces of several bridge crewmembers, which made him remember that he wasn't exactly your standard crewmember. At full height, Firestorm measured well over 6 feet in length, and fully furred he resembled a giant version of his own pet feline Copper. His fur shone in the bridge light, sparkling several shades of copper, his ears stood straight up, his whiskers quivering in anticipation.
<anyone want to greet a giant reddish cat?>

*She had checked her personal console and noted the transfer, closing her eyes for a moment in relief. Its not that she is horrible at Ops...she was just meant to be a certain place doing a certain thing until she has redeemed herself. She rises from the ops station and motions to one of the underlings to take the space. She heads for the Captains readyroom and presses the chime*
Upon hearing the sound of the door chime Savot, as usual, wastes no time in granting entry. "Come in", he says and the doors open to reveal his last glance at his computer console before turning his attention to whoever sounded the chime. He straightens his posture slightly and gestures with his right hand to the chair opposite his own before intertwining his fingers atop his desk, "What can I do for you Commander?"
*she steps over and stands before the desk and lays her fingertips down on the glass tabletop. She looks at the Captain for several long moments before her thoughts are gathered. She takes the seat finally and speeks in tones of right control* First off Sir...thank ye fer allowin me t return t sickbay as CMO. It means a lot t me...an will prolly be th hardest thin ill do.
"With Dr. K'vada's departure the ship required an experienced Chief Medical Officer, and you were the logical candidate", eyebrow arching slightly in surprise at the thanks while he spoke. "I cannot conceive of the difficulty you refer to as I'm certain your former staff will have no trouble adapting to your return, but if there is anything you believe I can do to lesson said difficulty I can attempt to do so.
logical...aye i s'pose i was at tha. *this makes her chuckle almost silently and she stands up from the chair* Th dfficulty isnae sommat tha ye could lessen, Savot. *not bothering to say "permission to speak freely"...she just does it* But there be a way ye could help me. Forgive me. *she lifts a hand to forestall any word at that moment* I dinnae e'en know if yc could ask a Vulcan tha. *she drops her forestalling hand and bows her head a bit* Th El Sal is fine. I knew she would flourish under yer command. She was nae me worry...but ye were. I owe ye more than an explanation...i owe ye th truth. I just dinnae know how.
His brow had furrowed at the mention of forgiveness but he let her finish before responding, "I do not resent you for your unexplained departure, Doctor. The duty of a First Officer is to assume command in the event of the captain's absence and were I not prepared to do so I should not have agreed to become your First Officer when you asked it of me." Savot tilted his head slightly and his expression resumed a more neutral stance as he continued, "I do believe you are more suited to command than I, but since it is now my assigned duty I attempt to fulfill it to the best of my ability. It was your prerogative to resign your commission and leave as you did, and while Starfleet Command will doubtless wish an explanation before granting you another command in the future, you are not obligated to provide me with one."
*she scowls as though momentarily physically pained but it only lasts for a moment before her face is as blank as the Captains. She wishes that she could just...show him her mind. Her epression changes to a momentary wonder of the very idea. But now is not the time* Nae...yer righ. As me Captain ye 'ave nae need t know. An Starfleet Command has recieved th nearest version tha theyre gunna be gettin. As me Commandin officer, ye know me expertise an medical dedication. But...id prefer t give th story t me Friend...and Companion. Nae th now p'raps...*she scowls at herself again and then turns, walking to the door, then stopping and looking around at Him* Twas th thought of ye tha kept me goin...Sir.
Savot sat silently for a moment, uncertain of how to respond. Finally he replied, "I am pleased that you did keep going, and I do hope you found what is was that you sought." As she makes for the exit he makes a final comment, "Doctor. When your story's time comes... your friend will listen."
*hearing that she stops and looks around over her shoulder and gives the man a blazing smile the likes of which has not been seen on her face since she had left. Its almost like turning the sun onto a darkened moon, if only for a small moment, utterly radiant. That is all...she gives a little dip of her head and then lets herself out of the Captains office. The smile remains there, though faded as she passes from the Readyroom and across the Bridge, the smile suprising one or two people who have only known her lately. She always looks so fierce and scowly, even the faded smile is enough to strike ones attention. She gives a little afterwave to those on the Bridge and heads back to what is once again, her Sickbay* full circle...

Savot had resumed the captain's chair during the time the Sivaoan entered the bridge. The vulcan watched in fascination the greeting signs and listened to the Lieutenant's introduction, "Lieutenant Firestorm to Ennien reporting for duty, sir."
Savot rose from his chair, extending his arms to fully display his own clawless hands then drawing them inward again, tipping his head forward slightly as he replied, "Come aboard, Firestorm to Ennien." He had modified the entry permission statement slightly to fit boarding a ship as opposed to the Sivaoans' homeworld usage of entering another's tent. The vulcan had limited experience with the Sivaoan culture and was pleased of the opportunity to increase his knowledge.
He accepted the datapadd to confirm the transfer orders merely as a matter of protocol rather than any actual thought that Firestorm was lying. He returned it without typing in the Lieutenant's Quarters number, merely stating its location on Deck 6 for Firestorm's memory.
"Your specific assignment has been left somewhat open-ended though I understand your specialties lie within the medical and scientific fields, of which Doctor Irae and Commander Hope are our senior officers respectively. Should you wish to engage in other duties, merely provide me a list of your qualifications and I will assign you accordingly. Welcome aboard, Lieutenant", Savot ended with another bow of his head.

The turbolift door to the bridge opened and Stacey took her first step onto the bridge as the First Officer, she pulled uncomfortably on her new uniform collar she was nervous about her first day on the new job, never before had she been given the responsibilities a first officer must take on.
She took a few steps to the centre of the bridge and without thinking sat down in the chair reserved for the Counsellor when one was stationed on the ship, she didn’t think anything of it until she looked around the bridge and noticed people looking at her with a strange look on their faces. “Ok what is it? Is there something on my face or something?” she asked with genuine confusion.
The Lieutenant on bridge duty who was sat in the captains seat before standing up when Stacey entered said. “Uhmm Ma’am when the Captain is not on the bridge you sit in his chair… when he is you are supposed to sit on the station to his right Ma’am.”
Stacey looked down and slowly stood up her face having gone bright red. “Of course I was just testing you all… well done.”
She slowly waled in front of the command chair and looked down at it as if sitting in it would cause the chair to swallow her up. The lieutenant leaned in close to her and said. “It is always scary the first time Ma’am… but you get used to it.”
Stacey nodded before taking a deep breath and sitting down, she squinted for the first few seconds as if her sitting in the chair would cause the ship to suddenly explode… when nothing happened she exhaled and looked to the view screen.
Several minutes later the door to the Captains ready room opened and Stacey stood up as Savot waled towards her.
"These are the particulars of our new assignment, Commander. From your records I see you're personally familiar with the situation in question so I'd like you to present the briefing to the senior staff. We'll convene in the conference room in 3 hours."
She took the padd from his hands and looked down with interest and nodded as she said. “yes sir.”
She didn’t need to read long before her stomach began to tighten up and the blood drain from her face, she left the bridge for the silence of the briefing room to continue reading the Padds and get ready to brief the rest of the crew on the mission, as well as look at her old notes.
*** Briefing three hours later***
The senior staff began to enter the room with Savot exactly on time, as could be expected of a Vulcan.
<Tag Senior Staff upon entering>
After all had taken their seats she said.
“Good morning all.. Captain Savot has asked that I give this briefing as I have prior knowledge and experience in the subject matter.”
She took a slight breath before saying. “We have been ordered to the Mera system… to oversee the beginnings of a peace summit… the Planet Mera three has been engaged in a Civil war for the past twenty years the planet is divided into two massive continents each having their own system of government and military twenty year ago the Eastern continent launched an invasion force on the western government starting a war… Now after twenty years of viscous fighting and economic turmoil they need Federation help to rebuild their economies.”
She paused and looked around before continuing.
“Now the fighting has not stopped but the two governments has both contacted the federation to oversee the summit… while we are there we are to supply medical aid to both sides as well as oversee security at the summit.”
“Doctor Irea please prepare as much medical supplies as possible you will need to oversee the distribution of the aid.. Colonel Wolf with Commander Roberts departure I understand you have been filling in for security… You will be in charge of security at the Summit I don’t need to tell you that both governments has factions inside them that are not happy with the peace talks so security will be important.”
Stacey looked to S’reena and paused for a second before saying.
“Commander Hope… You will be joining me and Captain Savot in the peace talks… I will have the relevant information you need transferred to your station if you could memorise it before we get there please…. Any Questions?”
<Tag Questions… will be done in my next post>
“Well with the captain’s permission…. Dismissed.”

He arrived in the briefing room and took his seat, it was a little strange to see Jackson in red but thought it looked good on her. He had already heard the scuttle butt earlier about her sitting in the wrong chair. He chuckled a little he knew it would only take a little time and she would be in the swing of things. She would make a good first officer after a little seasoning and he would try and help when he could.
As everybody showed up Commander Jackson started the briefing. It took only a few minutes for alarm bells in his head to start going off. That planet was very close to the Romulan space, and he would have to be very careful. He was not very popular with the Romulans right now but kept quite. As Jackson explained the mission and risk involved more alarm bells started going off. IF there were factions on both sides determined to stop the summit he was not comfortable with both Command officers being in the same place at the same time. While he could protect them there was element of risk that couldn't be for seen. That was how determined people were to stop the summit and how much would the risk.
His duties were going to be extremely hard more so because of the risk to the Command Crew.
Taking a moment to make sure he voiced his concerns in a polite matter "Commander Jackson while I understand the importance of the mission I'm concerned about the risk to you and the captain. I can provide security but if people are determined to stop the summit then risk to you and the captain goes way up. I would suggest that you and the captain try not to be down on the surface at the same time. I understand the importance of the mission but from a security point with both you and the captain down on the surface at the same time and same place. You both present a very tempting target. I know that this may not be possible but if you could at least try or at least limit your time together on the surface."
" I know that our mission is very importain but I have found that the bigger the prize, the more people are willing to risk. I can do everything possible to try and prevent anything from happening but depending how determined people are to accept risk. If this is not possible at the very least do not announce a time table to the general public or the location." <Tag Jackson>
He waited for a response but already his mind was going in to tactical mode. He was going to be drawing on to every department. He was also waiting to see if anybody else shared his concern.

"While previously your roles were captain and counselor, they are different now," S'reena added to Wolf's comments, "so in essence I agree with the colonel." She hated saying it but she knew she had to point it out. She recalled that she herself and Paul Drew rarely went on an away mission together. Then again, she didn't know what Savot's style was on this.
The Romulan took a deep breath. "I also question whether it's wise for me to join the peace talks. If there are Romulans, we will be targeted, and I don't want to be the cause of that. My family is seen as being traitors for having moved to Earth. Now, if their intentions are wholly peaceful, it might be beneficial to have them see that the Federation and the Romulan Empire can be allies, and have mutual interests. But Romulans in general are fairly xenophobic, thus I question their motives if they're present."
Yet, they were here for a reason. "However if you truly believe my expertise will be needed, I will of course attend. I just don't see what advantage I'll have to being there. I can't observe them as usual..." Then she smiled. "Actually," she continued, "they'll underestimate me." Her smile widened. "What exactly is expected of me?"

*The Doctor had joined the briefing as ordered. In doing so she realizes that this counselor is the first counselor she had ever seen as FO. It isnt that its strange...just different. But then again, she, comming up from the sickbay was Fo once...and shes a physical doctor. Strategy and such must be different and a lot more interesting for a doctor of the Mind.*
*She had chosen not to sit, but standing at the farfront of the table, pacing slowly listening to the briefing. As the lady FO turned to give her her orders she didnt even interrupt, she nods acceptance and is silent through the rest of the meeting. She has all the information that she needs.*
*Once dismissed she nods to each of the other officers, giving a little salute to Commander Jackson and leaves the briefing room. Into the corridors, turbolift and down to Sickbay. Shes already had "the talk" with her staff, most of them remember her from the first time she served as CMO*
*She immediatly falls into routine instructing the staff to begin the replication procedures. With padd in hand she steps to the big console and inputs the general listing of everything one might need to do sensible triage, stabilization and critical treatment. Just for starters* Arrigh Ladies en Gents. Get these replicators goin an moved into th cargo bay. Kem and Rosale *her two top nurses from before* Lets get this place ready for trauma in case theres sommat they cannae handle down there. *with that she claps her hands and goes to work herself. She stops as Kem comes over to her and says*
Glad to have you back Doc.

Savot listened with everyone else as Jackson gave the briefing. The fact that both factions had contacted the Federation increased the odds that at least some within each group were interested in peace. If only one had truly wished to end the conflict they would either fail or be forced to make severe contritions to the opposition to gain their cooperation.
He wasn't surprised by the points mentioned by both Wolf and Hope, nor did he disagree with those points. "Logically speaking it is tactically unsound to place both command officers in the same location especially if it is one of potential danger; however, at present our best means of actually succeeding in these peace talks is for both myself as the leading Federation representative and Commander Jackson as cultural liason to be present at the summit", the vulcan stated, though he bowed his head in acknowledgement of the others' concerns.
"Likewise, if there are forces that would act to sabotage the foundation of peace they must eventually be found and stopped if peace is to succeed. Therefore, presenting a tempting target in this instance is also a logical action for us to take."
The vulcan turned towards his science officer as he continued, "As for your personal concerns, Commander Hope, there is no public Romulan presence on the planet such that our position would be considered 'tainted' by your company. Also as with the other hypothetical scenario, if there are Romulans attempting to pull any proverbial strings here it is in our best interests to root them out and a Romulan Starfleet officer may potentially do so."
Hope seemed to brighten at the idea of attending as she considered other possibilities, and Savot left it to Commander Jackson to detail what particular duties Hope would have at the summit since he was curious to know how the new First Officer would plan to make use of ship's personnel.
Doctor Irae was quiet through the briefing, and although he did raise an initial eyebrow at her decision to pace, it quickly resumed its normal posture given his knowledge that this particular Irish woman was one of action and presumably felt the need for an outlet when hearing about an upcoming duty.
(Insert any other exchanges of questions/answers if needed)
“Well with the captain’s permission…. Dismissed", the briefing group went its separate ways on Jackson's word.
Before she had left though, Savot gestured for her attention, "Commander, in preparation for the summit, I'd like you to research the two factions since their initial separation. While the governments have obviously taken drastically different paths, it may be that some rituals remain the same in both that we might normally take for granted, such as religious practices, or even dining rituals. If there is anything we can use during the summit to establish a 'common ground' of sorts our position will be that much stronger from the start."

In part a joint post with Commander Hope
Firestorm almost pounced upon the Romulan science officer when she left the briefingroom. "S'reena!"
The Romulan turned upon hearing her name being called. "Who's that?" she replied, halting mid-step.
The Sivaoan medical officer snaked his tail around the woman's wrist, before stepping around to face her. "S'reena, are you all right? Don't you recognise me?"
S'reena reached to touch the tail, smiling gently. "Fur, a purring sound to the voice.' She reached out, her hands making contact with first his ears and then his muzzle. "Fur all over..."
Firestorm waved a paw in front of her face, which drew no reaction from her but did from a golden creature that was sat on her shoulder. He withdrew his paw, hissing back. "Firestorm to Ennien," he hinted, giving her his name.
"Firestorm!" She reached further, taking him into a tight hug. She felt his muscles tighten in reflex and released him quickly. "I take it you hadn't heard about the accident?" She quickly explained and she felt his tail tighten around her wrist.
"I've been assigned to help out this mission," Firestorm explained, "and I wasn't sure who to report to. Captain Savot told me to either report to you, or a Doctor Irae?" He gave the Sivaoan equivalent of a sigh. "Not to hurt your feelings, but I think I'd prefer a medical assignment." He looked around, whiskers quivering. "Where may I find this doctor?"
"Sickbay would be the logical place to look," she chuckled, "why don't you start there?"
Firestorm released her wrist, coiling his tail in amusement. "I suppose. Will you be all right?" He shook his head. "No, you will be, you always did end up all right. You're too proud to let things get to you. I'll go to sickbay now, I'm sure we have a chance to catch up later. Take care S'reena."
The Sivaoan dashed down the corridor on all fours, his small -similarly coloured- pet Copper bounding after him at a slightly slower pace. After a mad-dash across several decks, Firestorm finally rose back up to his hind legs and walked into sickbay, sticking his tail in first. When no response came, he walked in further. "Merrow, Lieutenant Firestorm to Ennien reporting. I am looking for Doctor Irae."
off: note to deis: Firestorm is a Sivoan. Basically your pet cat but man-size. His fur is copper-ish in colour and very soft to the touch, his eyes amber/green. In standard years, I believe he would be approximately 35 years old. (reference: uhura's song)

He was not liking what he was hearing, he understood the captains point but still the risk. The didn't make a differnce to him the captain and the Commander were willing to act as bate. His job was going to get a lot harder even more so. He was a little happy that Commander Hope agreed with his assesment to a point. He would have to talk to her later and discuss a few things. He couldn't be every where at once but Commander Hope would be with the captain and Jackson.
Already his mind was working on plans people first impression of Commander Hope being blind could play to there benifit. They would have no clue that she was alot more then what she appeared and he had the bruises to prove it.
" Very well captain I understand the need but I ask that the time's and Locations be kept quite for as long as possible. I will need time to to map out the locations and set up security, Since I arleady no the asnwer to personal body guards I ask that you at least get the doctor to implant locators in case something happens"
Looking over at Commander Hope " Commander if possible after the meeting I would like discuss a few things with you that might help the mission with your permission of course"<Tag Hope>
Looking back at Commander Jackson " Commander if possible I need the lastest intell and your assesments and back round knowledge of the people. I would like to know what drives thems in short. This allow me to try and head things off. I.E what customs must be followed and such. Dont need somebody from the ship insulting somebody by accident"
While he waited for the answers he needed he was still worried about being slow close to Romulan space. He knew that there were a few Romulans who wanted to spend some time with him and find out what he knew about the last black op mission there. Still they were on the federation side and was worrying for no reason. At least until a romulan show up anyway

Stacey rubbed her eyes as she listened to Wolf give his reply to the captain, he then turned to her and the captain and said.
" Very well captain I understand the need but I ask that the time's and Locations be kept quite for as long as possible. I will need time to to map out the locations and set up security, Since I arleady no the asnwer to personal body guards I ask that you at least get the doctor to implant locators in case something happens"
Stacey cleared her throat, “Colonel I appreciate your concerns and they have been noted however the times and locations are not up to us.. they have already been worked out by both of the Governments… the negotiations are taking place in a neutral area so the risk is minimal… I would like you to run drills with both the security and Marine personnel I want them up to the task when we get there.”
Wolf then added.
" Commander if possible I need the latest intell and your assessments and back round knowledge of the people. I would like to know what drives thems in short. This allow me to try and head things off. I.E what customs must be followed and such. Dont need somebody from the ship insulting somebody by accident"
she looked back at him and said loud enough for all to hear.
“I will have that information to you all in an hour.”
She walked out of the briefing room looking at the Padds in her hand, she had not had the position of first officer for more than a day and she was already wanting to hide under her bed.
She stepped onto the bridge and let out a deep breath as she rubbed the back of her neck. “Helm set course for the Mera system warp seven.”
She sat down at one of the bridges aft research stations and began compiling all the information she could find on the Merans.
***Mera 3 Eastern Continent Royal Palace***
The Massive throne room echoed with footsteps as a man walked up to the massive chairs in the back of the room, the windows had been boarded up long ago, the scenery once showing magnificent mountains and rivers buzzing with wild life now only showed the battle scared landscape. Bombs having ripped apart most of the beauty.
The Palace itself was still in the same shape as always the inside still as gloriously decorated as it once was, the king and his queen still lived in luxury as the rest of the population suffered terribly.
The man reached the chair and bowed his head and said. “Your Majesty… we have received word the Federation are on their way.”
The King now in his sixties looked up from his folded hands and said. “Very well.. prepare my shuttle for departure.”
The King who was named Zeners the third of the house of Werdef had ruled over his kingdom for ten years, he had inherited the war from his father and had led his armies to some decisive victories but now his population were rioting and protesting against the monarchy, he was desperate for peace if peace didn’t come he could very well be assassinated by the poorest of his subjects.
***Western Continent government Bunker***
One hundred feet underground the rather large room was almost crammed full of government and military officials as they all stood around a table.
A young man at the far end of the table looked up from his papers and said. “Madame President.. I am still not happy with the security arrangements for this summit.. if the easterns betray us we will lose most of our government.”
The youngest person in the room looked up she was only in her thirties but had the wisdom and knowledge of a person who had loved for a hundred years, she had taken office six years ago… at that time the western power was on the brink of defeat but with her grit and determination alone she rallied her forces and brought the western continent back from the brink.
“General we have been over this the Federation has agreed to supply neutral security forces as well as ours and the Easterns… we will be well protected…I can not let fear of dying stop me from securing peace for our people… you know as well as I do that our economy is on the brink of collapse this is our last chance… unless we gain peace in a matter of a year we will be forced to surrender.”
Her voice carried with it he pains of war and the burdens of responsibility.
The General who was almost three times her age sighed as he knew there was no point arguing her mind was made up. “Then at least agree to have the Deputy President remain here Ma’am.”
She shook her head as she stood up straight and took her eyes off of the maps. “No… this is our last chance General… I say this to all of you in confidence… it is peace or death for us we have come to far to surrender now… we need the Deputy President with us to show the Easterns we mean business… Prepare the transports… we leave as soon as the federation arrive.”

He felt a little sorry for Commander Jackson her first day on the job and a lot was already being asked of her. Then again when your the first officer a lot was expected of you, still he would try and take it easy on her for awhile until she got the feel for the job. He needed all the information he could get it was importan to have an idea of what they were going into.
Looking around the briefing room he decided it was time to get his security detail and Marines together and start running drills. Commander Jackson was right on that subject and it was a good idea. Even more so with the entire command staff being down on the planet, which still didn't make him happy but there was little he could do about it. He still needed to talk to Commander Hope he was going to need a little assistance on a few things.
He left the briefing room and headed straight to his office to start planning, and to wait for Commander Jackson info. He already had a few idea's to run but he needed more info on the planet, most importanly he needed to know how advanced they were technological. This would be a big factor on how he apporached the mission. If they had transporter techonology he was going to have to come up with a way to jam it. Not to mention he still needed blue prints of the meeting site and scans. This mission from a security stand point was not going to be a walk in the park by no means. He kept hoping Commander Hope would stop by so he could talk to her about a few details.

Stacey stood up, holding in her hand a Padd containing all of the information she felt relevant for the coming peace summit, she walked into the turbolift and after a short ride she stepped out.
A short walk later in which Stacey was grateful for the silence she stood outside of Colonel Wolf’s office, she decided to give him the information he needed first because she knew him well enough to know that it was driving him crazy not knowing.
She stepped inside and said.
“Colonel… I have a few things here you will be interested in… the summit is being held on a small island that is almost exactly in between both continents… as they don’t posses transporter technology, they will be arriving in shuttlecraft like transports once there will be a no fly zone around the island.”
She paused and sighed as she pressed a few buttons on his console which brought up a view of the island and the red line that indicated the no fly zone.
“You will liaison with two people one from each government in matters on security… they will guard their own heads of state and dignitaries but the main conference room is our responsibility… Under no circumstances are you or any of your men to speak to the King of the East there are rules we have to abide by and that is one of them… our men are permitted phasers and theirs are permitted their weapons but I don’t need to tell you that us using ours is only to be used in a life and death situation.. I don’t want any of our people getting trigger happy.”
Stacey rubbed her forehead before saying. “anything else you need I will be on the bridge… as you were.”
She left and headed back to the bridge.
Walking up to captain Savot she presented him the padd and said.
“Captain I have just given Colonel Wolf the information he needed we will be ready when we arrive… You asked about topics we could use that both governments can agree on… from what my memory and information can come up with they are both under the one religion a belief that their ancestors guide them they hold a ceremony at noon where they speak to their ancestors for guidance…. Also one other point of interest…. Both heads of State will arrive at the summit at the same time. You will be expected to greet the King of the East personally anybody of lesser rank would insult them… fortunately the West don’t care for such ceremony and will be just as happy being greeted by me… you are expected to refer to him as ‘your highness or your majesty’... After the meeting we will escort them to the main conference hall and a lunch will be served before they start arguing over what gets discussed by who”

S'reena listened to Firestorm's retreating footsteps, while caressing Aurics back ridges. "Don't worry my pet, he will never catch you. You're too clever for him she won't even try," she murmured at the firelizard. Then she turned and headed for her own office, trying to think of how she could be of the best assistance on the proposed summit. When she stepped over the threshold that led to her office, she realised she'd see that when she would be in that situation. No summit or other gathering was ever the same, though she didn't want to face the possibility of having to pretend to defect - again - to be able to rescue her fellow crewmembers.
She shook her head sadly, remembering both instances, and the grief she had caused. "Never again," she promised herself.
Then she remembered Wolf had spoken to her, though at the same time Firestorm had jumped her and had demanded her attention. Shaking her head again, she turned around and headed for the marine's office, several decks down. Upon exiting the turbolift, she hesitated briefly, not knowing which way to go towarsd the office. "Colonel Wolf, please call out to me," she requested, while sending Auric aloft to scout ahead.
When she finally stood face to face with the marine, she tilted her head, a puzzled expression on her face. "What did you want to see me about?"

Hearing Commander Hope voice after Commander Jackson left he called out to her so she could follow his voice. He got up from his desk and met her at the door to guide her in and towards a chair. He was hoping she would be willing to help but knew she was going to have her hands full herself with peace talks.
" Thank you for seeing me Commander I know your busy, so I will try to be brief. I'm concerned about factions interfering with the peace talks. While there may not be any direct threats for the moment, having both Command officers down on the planet with a possible threat is a worry. Commander I was hoping you might help me a little, the fact your blind will come in handy. I mean no disrespect at all in fact its the total oppisite, you see people are automaticaly are going to deem you as a nonthreat if an attack occurs on the captain and Commander Jackson."
" They will under estimate you and thats what I'm counting of if something happens and I can't get there in time." walking over to the corner he picked up a hand carved walking stick
" I too have done some research and its not uncommon for blind people on this world to use a guide stick. " he picked up the walking stick and put it into Commander Hopes hand
" This walking stick won't be questioned by any body and it can only be activated by you. Your DNA is already programed in" gently he took her hand to the top where a fire lizards face was carved and put her fingers on the eye's " If you push the left eye a homing becan will be activated I have programed it on a Frequnce that is very hard to pick up. If you push the Right eye the end of your walking stick will become a stunner which will nock somebody out for 5 mins. Its not like a phaser you have to touch the person with the end to nock them out."
" I want to say again I mean no disrespect in fact I hope you dont have to use it. It just in case if somebody is foolish enought to under estimate you then it will be there down fall. Its a fall back in case something happens and they take the captain of Commander Jackson chances are they would take you to . I hope for peace I really do but history has taught me its the toughest thing to achieve if all partys are not interested. This is all I ask and one other little thing play the blind part up a little to keep people thinking that you are helpless. It will add to the effect and not make the worry about taking the captain or Commander Jackson in your presents. I know its asking alot but with both Command officer down on the planet I need every tatical edge I can get for there safety. I will say this and never admit to any one if there dumb enough to do this with you close by I pity them for what you will put them through I have enough bruises to know better. So are you willing to help if you say no I understand and will think of something else" <Tag Hope>

S'reena stood in utter silence, listening as the marine officer babbled on. Blood rose to her cheeks as she continued to listen, and if she had still been able to see, her eyes would've flashed in anger. Instead, Auric's eyes swirled bright red, flecked with white and the little creature hissed, reflecting her bondmate's anger perfectly. The Romulan's eyes narrowed as she prepared her response. "I can't in good conscience take this," she answered, her tone clipped, "I am blind, not handicapped and I would appreciate you not mention this to anyone else. I find your offer insulting, and inconsiderate of my feelings."
She thrust the cane forward, then released her grip on it, not caring whether it'd fall to the deck, or whether he'd catch it in time before it could do so. Then she reached out, grabbed Wolf by the throat and flung him aside. "Surprise is in my favour," she snapped, "and I will report this to the captain. Immediately. Your invention is unauthorised and dishonourable. Do you wish to see me dishonoured?"
Auric still hissing from her shoulder, S'reena turned on her heels and marched out of the office, by sheer luck just missing the doorpost as she stalked out. Just outside, she turned again. "Not only is this a dishonour on me, but by giving me this, you show that you have no faith in the performance of Captain Savot or Commander Jackson. Consider that, if you won't consider my feelings, lieutenant colonel!"
Using the computer to guide her, S'reena found her way back to the bridge, being too mad to even think of using her beloved companion for guidance. "Captain, Commander, a word if you please...in private might be best." Her voice was low, urgent and the anger quite audible.
Savot merely inclined his head in approval and let both herself and Commander Jackson to the readyroom.
"Sir, ma'am, I would have you know that Lieutenant Colonel Wolf just issued me with an unauthorised weapon. He devised a cane for me to use on the planet if need be, but it was no ordinary cane. He explained it to be a weapon. Not only do I detest this breach of protocol, I also find it highly insulting. To me personally, as well as yourself. It is a severe breach upon my honour, I shall not carry such a dishonourable weapon. A phaser, my personal dagger and my skill as a fighter is all I shall take, and use only when absolutely necessary. I count on being underestimated, if it needs be, but I shall not be insulted like this!"

Savot took the offered datapadd from his First Officer and looked over the data therein while listening to Jackson's report. He looked up and nodded at the mention of his greeting the East's King to ensure her he had indeed heard that rather important bit of protocol, "Understood, your preparatory work for this assignment has been most thorough Commander, well done."
While filing away the ancestral religion information in his mind for future pondering, Commander Hope came to the bridge requesting a talk with both himself and Jackson. When the whoosh of doors secured the trio within the privacy of the Ready Room, Hope explained the source of her... discontent.
Savot's eyebrow rose as he listened to the report. A glance in Jackson's direction showed her rolling her eyes and letting out a weary sigh upon receiving the news. The vulcan paused a moment, clasping his hands behind his back and allowing a moment's calm before addressing the report.
Deciding to deal with the concrete matters first, Savot began, "You shall certainly not be required to carry such a device nor would I authorize it if you'd wanted to. Our role at this summit is such that a concealed weapon of this nature would destroy our credibility as proponents of peace were it to be discovered. Our security personnel will be armed, and aside from that preparatory measure the rest of us will simply have to do the best we can should any threatening behavior occur."
"While your consideration for us is appreciated, you may rest assured that we will address any insult to ourselves and as such ask that you please not burden yourself needlessly on our behalf. Your own offense is quite understandable, to be sure, and while I am by no means attempting to make light of the slight to your personal honor it is my belief Mr. Wolf's request signified a firm respect in your abilities", Savot tilted his head slightly before laying out what he felt was probably Wolf's line of reasoning.
"Colonel Wolf takes his job, particularly with regard to the defense of superiors, very seriously. Although he often attempts to solve problems entirely on his own I believe this is a result of his field training rather than a lack of faith in his fellow officers' abilities. He formulated a fallback scenario, and knowing that he himself would not be present at the negotiating table itself, had to select someone who would be there to implement that fallback on his behalf."
"While his methodology understandably offended your own honor, Mr. Wolf's protective obligations are a large part of his own sense of honor and as such not something he can allow someone else to carry for him easily. Though I obviously cannot order you not to take offense, I do advise you to consider the situation in this light instead. Rather than selecting you due to your blindness, the most significant factor in choosing you must have been Wolf's willingness to trust you with what he deems so important a task, and his belief in your capability to successfully achieve that task."
<Any response by S'reena if desired>
As he finished, the vulcan bowed his head to the Romulan, then turned towards Jackson, "Please continue to make use of the Ready Room if you have anything further to add Commander Jackson. I shall go see to the Colonel." As the two women seemed to have something of a rapport, while out of the four mentioned he and Wolf had worked together the longest, Savot felt the remainder of this situation best left between Hope and Jackson while he went to address Wolf's concerns.
Bowing again to both women Savot left the Ready Room, then the bridge, tapping his commbadge when he was alone in the turbolift, =^=Savot to Wolf. I'm en route to your office to speak with you Colonel.=^=
<Letting Wolf respond to S'reena's bit and this first before going on with Savot's arrival>

He was shocked more taken back then anything else, the staff was a defensive weapon only. He thought he had made it clear it would be up to her to use it. It didn't shoot death ray's it only had a stun setting and a locator. He thought he made his intentions clear he wasn't insulting her honor it was her skills he was after. He could'nt understand why she couldn't see that, he wouldn't just ask anybody to do this. The captain and Commander Jackson lives were the highest importance.
When she threw the staff he caught it and realized his mistake as he felt her hand on his throat. Even when he felt the pressure he couldn't understand why she was so upset, this was the reason why he asked her she was skilled and a fall back plan. When she flung him to the side he was getting mad. He heard her say she was going to report this to the captain, he was getting angery. He thought he made his point clear it took a lot not to go after her and return the favor. But training kicked in and just let her go he knew there would be a visit from the captain.
(Few moments later)
He heared Captain Savots call from the bridge " Understood sir I will be standing by in my office"
Picking up the walking stick which he had hand carved for Commander Hope, it was intended as a peace offering. He hadn't intended to give it her now but it seemed ideal given the current mission. He was only trying to cover his bases a back up plan one he hoped wouldn't be needed. He thought he had made that clear so he thought has he rubbed his throat, he would not allow Commander Hope to lay a hand on him again out side of training. That he promised him self no more of that he had shown enough restraint when it came to her.
He waited for the captain and went over everything again in his head. He was trying to control his anger trying to relax. He was trying not to make Commander Hope an enemy but it was getting very hard. He was not looking forward to the captain visit but he didn't regret his plan of action. To many things can go wrong with both cammand officer on the planet with a possible threat. He was just trying to cover any possible threats.

"Understood, your preparatory work for this assignment has been most thorough Commander, well done."
Stacey smiled and bowed her head slightly. “Thank you sir.. I hope it is enou..”
Her sentence was cut short by Commander Hope sudden arrival and seemingly urgent need to talk, Stacey followed Savot and Hope into Savot’s ready room and waited to hear what was so important.
Stacey let out a sigh as she rolled her eyes, not at S’reena but at the situation. In part she was annoyed she wasn’t told about this plan while in Colonel Wolf’s office just minutes before, and secondly that this situation was not what she needed on her first day as First Officer, a feud among senior staff was never a good thing.
Stacey stood still and silent as Savot expressed his opinion on the situation and admired the way he handled it, she could not find flaw in his approach. Savot finished and Stacey listened as Commander Hope responded to him.
Savot then politely nodded at them both before he turned to Stacey and said. "Please continue to make use of the Ready Room if you have anything further to add Commander Jackson. I shall go see to the Colonel."
Savot left the ready room and Stacey was left with her visibly annoyed friend, she took a breath and said calmly.
“Nothing I can add to that except let you know why I chose you to accompany the captain and me.”
Stacey moved to the couch alongside the wall underneath the window and sat down as she let out a small sigh. She looked up at S’reena and said.
“You are not coming for my own or the Captains protection… your coming for two reasons… most importantly as I am there to support the Captain I need you there to support me… I am new to this… you have been there and got the T-shirt so to speak… secondly you will be needed in such discussions as Food plantation and repair to the environment as Science Chief these things fall under your purview.”
Stacey stood and walked towards the door that headed back onto the bridge. “I need to get back to the bridge if you need to you may take a few minutes to compose yourself… after which I need you calm and collected.”
Stacey stepped back onto the bridge and looked to the helm and asked. “Time until we reach our destination?”
The helm officer on duty flew his hands expertly over the console before replying. “Two Hours, Fourteen Minutes Ma’am.”
Stacey tapped her comm. Badge and said.
=/\= Bridge to Sickbay, how are you coming along with replicating medical supplies?... we need as much basic medicine, blankets and food as we can manage.”

Wolf responded right away to Savot's message, and moments later the vulcan arrived at the Marine's office, entering with hands clasped behind him as per usual raising one temporarily to wave the Colonel to ease since his training had him coming to attention at Savot's entry into the room.
"As you were, Mr. Wolf, my purpose is not to lecture you", Savot came to a stop before Wolf's desk, speaking in neutral tones as per usual, "I expect the discussion Commander Jackson and I just had with Commander Hope will come as no surprise to you. While Commander Hope was clearly dissatisfied with your actions I have only 1 point of correction to make in your methods. The plan itself was not necessarily flawed, though in this case I do intend those participating in the negotiations not to carry concealed weaponry."
"Likewise, who you choose to participate in your plan is entirely up to you, though perhaps it would be wiser not to approach Commander Hope for participation until the two of you increase your understanding of one another. However, before even asking her if she'd be willing to go along with it, you should have brought your intentions to either myself or Commander Jackson and presented them for our acceptance or refusal."
"In this case, had you done so I could have informed you of my disagreement ahead of time and spared you from conflicting with Commander Hope. I did attempt to assure her your request should in no way be interpreted as an affront to her honor, but of course I cannot predict my level of success in conveying that. I understand the parameters of this mission include a much higher risk factor than we would prefer, but if Zefram Cochrane had not risked the first warp flight and caught the attention of that passing Vulcan ship you and I would very likely not be serving here together."
"All we can do is lower the risk factors as best we can; once we have exhausted those means further mental tension only lowers our response time to whatever undesirable events may occur. No one could prepare a more effective defense under the same conditions than you have, Colonel", realizing the long-windedness of his comments was turning this into the lecture he'd promised not to give, Savot decided to make his departure, "In summary, Mr. Wolf, though I commend your forward thinking, in the future bring your plans to myself or the First Officer before including others. Thank you for your time."
(Any Wolf responses can be inserted where feasible to do so)

Wolf came to attention until Savot put him at easy, He listened and understood some of the points the captain was making. His plan should have gone to him or Commander Jackson first but he wanted to see if Commander Hope would go along with it first. He was wrong and could admit that but her reaction did not warrent her treatment of him.
" Captain Savot the weapon was only had two items on it a touch stunner and a tracking device. While most of us will have phasers and can see our target Commander Hope can not. The risk of her firing her phaser and injuring somebody is high. I thought it best to present a nother option considering her other skills. I also thought it best for her not let on about how dangerous she can be. I meant no disrespect and stated the several times, she talks about honor and how I insulted her.
She needs to come to grips with her limitations and accept facts. If she does not she may be on a mission where somebody will say something about her blindness if she reacts the way she did down here it will be a major problem. There was no dishonor about what I asked her, it was not easy for me to ask for help doing my job. I chose her because of her abilities I gave her the option of saying no. A stunner and tracking device are defensive weapons only not attack. There is no differnce between what she's carrying and what I asked her to carry.
However I should have checked with Commander Jackson first and for that the blame is mine. I was just trying to put a back up plan in place and hope it would not be needed. I have been on this ship longer then most I was worried about you and Jackson and Commander Hope. While you are all skilled the chance of something going wrong still exist. I just wanted you to have the benifit of being tracked if taken and a means of getting away. My field experince teaches me to hope for the best but expect the worest. I will in the future check with Commander Jackson with my idea's first.
On a personal note Commander Hope and I have issues that will not be resolved easly. I can say this and mean no disrespect. If Commander Hope puts her hands on me again out side of training or assisting me in my duties as approved by you or Commander Jackson. I will not be so restrained I have never attempted to harm a member of my staff because they insulted me or my honor. I have enough restraint and respect for individuals not to do so, if she disagreed with my idea she could have said no and reported to you. Not come close to ending my life if she was not as skilled as she was and knew the exact amount of force to use I would not be standing her now. It was those skills I was hoping to draw on but enough said, I will not apologize to Commander Hope for my actions her response canceled that. I will how ever make sure if she respondes like that again ,to reminder her I'm a Marine but unlike her my response will only apply enough force to stop the action not prevoke one."
" Since you are here now Captain my plan was simple provide a tracking device with a stunner. People would not have questioned why a blind person was using such things and would not take them from her. The fact she was blind was why I chose the walking stick, if she was not blind I would have chosen something else and asked her still but would have checked with you first" <Tag Savot>

Still inwardly seething, S'reena waited in silence as she heard the captain leave. She didn't want trouble for Wolf, but he had to be made to understand that he couldn't just do to her what he had done. Belatedly she considered that she probably should've told him that she in fact had shoved Wolf, but it was too late now.
Turning, she waited for Stacey to speak, knowing some things would get explained to her, at last. And indeed, the counselor-gone-first officer did explain, without prompting. S'reena listened impatiently, but managed to stay silent.
"I didn't expect to be anyone's protection," S'reena finally retorted, "you and the captain are quite capable of fending for yourselves, you've both proven that already. And so far in my observations, you're doing fine as first officer, but I'll help when you ask for my assistance. It wouldn't be good to constantly have ideas offered to you, that's not good for your confidence in your abilities."
She paused briefly as she considered the second part. "I'm not knowledgeable where food is concerned, however environment is within my expertise. Naturally, I will assist to the best of my abilities."
“I need to get back to the bridge if you need to you may take a few minutes to compose yourself… after which I need you calm and collected.”
"I'm fine," the Romulan answered, "I'll join you on the bridge. I do have duties to attend to, and an away mission to prepare for." She walked out after the first officer and easily found her way back to her station. She was becoming very adept at finding her way around the bridge; she had the hope that the rest of the ship would soon follow. "By what time do I need to report for the away mission?" she queried, "and what do I need to bring, equipment and personnel wise?"

The vulcan captain nodded as the Colonel finished speaking, "I understand the reasoning behind your plan Mr. Wolf, as I said, I do not find fault with that. I do intend to have the landing party equipped with subdermal locators by Dr. Irae and her staff as you suggested."
"You are also correct in that regardless of your intentions Commander Hope was out of line in responding physically. I was unaware of the altercation before you mentioned it just now, and as a matter of protocol it is now my responsibility to ask if you wish to bring charges against her for it."
Savot bowed his head at Wolf's response, "Very well. Your anger is understandable and perfectly warranted Colonel, but I will not have senior officers assaulting each other aboard this ship. I understand you have no control over what Commander Hope does, but you can control your own actions and I expect you to set an appropriate example of behavior for the others. Commander Hope was wrong to express her offense physically and I shall speak to her on that issue when time permits."
Before making his way out of the Marine's office Savot made one final statement, "On another subject, an Ensign Andrus is assuming Mr. Roberts' vacant Security and Tactical position. Please update the Ensign on our current assignment. I leave it to you to decide where to post him with regard to the security measures at the summit since you've spent more time reviewing the situation, though my advice would be to have one of you supervising things on the surface while the other maintains the tactical station aboard ship."

Listening to Captain Savot he started to relax a little and let the past events fade from his mind.
"I understand the reasoning behind your plan Mr. Wolf, as I said, I do not find fault with that. I do intend to have the landing party equipped with subdermal locators by Dr. Irae and her staff as you suggested."
" Thank you for taking the extra precaution Captain and it proves your point as well, If I had checked with you first instead of going to Commander Hope this matter might have been avoided a lesson I do not intend to forget"
"You are also correct in that regardless of your intentions Commander Hope was out of line in responding physically. I was unaware of the altercation before you mentioned it just now, and as a matter of protocol it is now my responsibility to ask if you wish to bring charges against her for it."
He took a deep breath he didn't even need to think about it he already knew his answer
" No Captain I do not wish to press chargers, to a degree this is my fault although her actions were uncalled for by all means. Instead I will leave it in your hands, I have had the luck to serve with a good captain who has taught me there are other ways to correct problems with out ruining somebody career. All I ask is that she learns to curve her temper and if possible to see a counselor about her personal issues. I know you can't order that but I feel it would do her good. I too will seek some counseling to better learn to curve my idea's and how to approach people better it would seem my intentions were put in away she found offensive. I share the blame in this matter, but if she wishes to bring any chargers against me then so be it. I will not seek to make the matter worse by charging her"
" Rest assured Captain if there is ever a problem between and Commander Hope again it will not be me who throws the first punch my duty is to you and this ship. I will not disappoint you on that matter, you have always supported my efforts I will obey your orders and follow the standards you expect of your officers"
"On another subject, an Ensign Andrus is assuming Mr.
" As soon as Mr. Andrus is available I will have him report to bring him up to speed. I will have him assume the tactical station on the bridge. As you well know I"m more geared to field operations then a star ship tactical station. I will make sure he does get a chance to run some shifts on the surface to get some field experience. Rest assured Captain if something does go wrong I will do everything I can to get everybody out safe"
He watched his captain leave and counted himself lucky to serve under him. Captain Savot was always fair and had a way pointing out your mistakes along with the good you were trying to do. He did find it odd that Commander Hope and left out a little bit of the story even still she was getting on his bad side quicker then anybody he had ever met. He was going to have to be more flexible when it came to dealing with her. But he would never let his guard down again around her she crossed the line on that matter. If she wished to file charges then he would face the music he was not going to play tic for tac with her. She was not worth the time or effort.
