The ship rocked violently and had Jackson not been sitting behind the desk she probably would have fallen, the warning from Savot didn’t come soon enough nor was he allowed to finish his sentence before something happened.
After the ship settled down and inertial dampeners kicked in Jackson ran out of the ready room and onto the bridge. “Report!” she yelled over the sound of alarms and red alert sirens.
“The primary hull ran into something. Most likely a mine.. the shockwave hit us pretty hard I didn’t have time to adjust course Ma’am.” Came a quick report from the helmsman.
She looked down and him and said. “Not your fault, nobody could have outrun that.”
Looking to the view screen which was mostly static she could make out forms now appearing. Too many to count especially with the interference. “Can someone clean the viewscreen up and what is the condition of communications.”
“Offline Ma’am there is too much interference a dampening field activated after the explosion… View screen should clear up in a few seconds.”
Looking at the screen Jackson’s heart sank as she stared out ships now in between her and the primary hull of the El Salvador which seemed to be dead in space.. she could clearly see smaller ships moving to dock with the Primary hull.. however coming to the rescue would prove difficult as there was a line of enemy ships now blocking the way.
“Battle Stations!” she called as she took the centre seat. The helmsman manuvered with skill and the tactical officer did his best to make every shot count.. by her count four vessels had met a fiery end.. but the onslaught of the smaller ships all firing took it’s toll.
“death by pin pricks.”
The shields began to fail their power already stretched from before, and Jackson was left with little hope of taking out anymore ships.. just as she could have sworn things couldn’t gotten any worse tactical spoke up.
“Transporter beams activating on decks Seven, Nine, And Ten.. and the bridge.”
Ducking under the nearest console Jackson grabbed a phaser and yelled. “Arm yourselves.”
The second after he spoke phaser fire erupted.
<Tag Hope, MC7> OOC: we are being boarded by pirates of many species, make the hand to hand fighting as interesting as you wish.. but no superhero moves the secondary hull will eventually be taken by Pirates.

Listening to the captain report he was arleady changing power to back up systems. Turning to look at Lynn " It would seem Mr. Armus has some pretty nasty visitors heading our way. I recommend you find a safe and secure postion. I can open one of the shuttles for you to hide in. I mean no offense but I gave you my word I would allow no harm to come to you." As after thought " You are also right Lynn many of us have much to learn about other races. I fear if my home world does not changing its think we are doomed to make the same mistakes your race and hald dozen others have. Now if you will excuse me I need to gather some weapons from the shuttles and prepare for visitors"
H wasn't happy his captain was leaving the saftey of the bridge but he couldn't argue with logic right now. He was one person and could only hold for so long before being over run. Maybe today is a good day to die he thought then again he had a bottle of blood wine he hadn't opened yet.
Walking over to Armus " We will have visitors shortly for the moment you are safe behind your force field. I will allow no harm to come to you for as long as I can"
Walking over to the computer console he started programing a few tricks in to the computer. Since he wasn't accessing any key systems and only minor ones the programs would kick in on when he spoke. " Lets see how our guest will enjoy not having gravity and then to much gravity so to speak"

Emergency lights were the only reason she could see past her nose, her heart was pounding so hard she thought she might pass out. But this was what she was trained for her objective was clear ensure the safety of the commodore, and the guests on the ship. Any other thought was erased from her mind the second the ship was boarded.
She was also a realist she didn’t hold out much hope that they could hold out forever, with only a skeleton crew they were short handed.. and she had seen the ships now encircling them.. only through a window but there were more than she could count. She had caught a glimpse of the other half of the El Salvador firing with all it had and that was her one hope that the other half could somehow come to the rescue.
She ran into the cargo hold and saw a small contingent of Marines and security officers now taking position.. Colonel K’ratak directed them with ease. In the back behind a force field she saw what this whole mission was for, Armus.
It was strange but the sight of him if it had a gender caused a slight sense of dread, she pulled her eyes away from him as she looked to a Jefferies tube cover now being pushed from the inside. Her along with everybody else pointed their weapons ready to fire if it was a hostile.
The sight of the Vulcan Commodore brought sighs of relief, he despite the peril they were now in looked as if he was just taking a peaceful stroll.. no sign of stress or fear showed on his face, slightly comforting to see for the now visibly stressed Lieutenant Commander Allison Pierce.
“Commodore, The doors have been sealed .. it would take any hostiles a while to break through.. but without power it won’t hold them forever.. I would suggest not blocking off the Jefferies tube, any hostiles would not easily navigate them and we may have more crew out there that will have the good sense to join us.’
<Tag Savot, K’ratak>
** Secondary hull**
the bodies of five men dressed in rather odd leather shimmered into existence on the bridge they wasted no time lifting their weapons. Stacey looked to them and then quickly with speed that defied her age and strength that she hadn’t used in a while pulled S’reena to the floor a close quarters fire fight was no place for a blind woman. Auric luckily for Stacey didn’t defend S’reena from Jackson, most likely it knew her well enough.
Jumping to her feet Jackson stood in front of S’reena and fired at the intruders as did the rest of the bridge staff, but not quick enough. An Ensign took a hit in the chest and fell over a chair, And Stacey felt the burn of a hit graze her left arm. A yelp of pain escaped her lips as the last intruder fell.
Pulling Hope up Jackson forcefully said. “Forcefeild around the bridge and engineering.. find the power any way you can.”
Turning to nowhere in particular she yelled out. “Computer Command Lockdown Authorisation Jackson four Seven Nine one tango.” She looked to her arm and said a rather foul Betazoid word under her breath.
But she was secure in part knowing the computer was locked down and any hostiles trying to would not be able to take over the ship from another location, and only she could unlock it.. having the good sense before hand to lock Savot out when they first took onboard Armus.. not that he would volunteer the information but she had no idea what was happening on the other section of the ship. And that more than scared her

[Secondary Hull]
"RRRAAAGGGGHHHH!", Master Chief Zakryn Athgar roared as he fended off pirate boarders in the corridors. The Gorn clotheslined a Bolian, knocking the intruder from onto his back, then caught the weapon the impact had knocked vertically out of the pirate's hands and fired at a human next. Later, the scaled hulk might stop and wonder whether the weapon he'd seized had been set to stun or kill but right now all that mattered was these scum were threatening the starship with whose protection and defense he was charged.
"Rally to Engineering! Move!", with almost none of the hiss that normally coated his voice Chief Athgar bellowed strategic orders to those nearby paying no mind to rank or station. This group was only one deck above Engineering so thankfully it didn't take them long to get there, and another blessing was the visual confirmation that it hadn't been seized yet. Zak tossed the pirate weapon to an unarmed Ensign as he made his way to a computer console.
The dark green security chief unshouldered his standard phaser rifle and leaned it against the console as his scaly hands worked. He'd heard they were experiencing power fluctuations before the attack so he knew he didn't have spare power to work with to mount a heavy defense... so he went completely the other direction. Even with most of the crew aboard these sections of the ship they didn't have enough personnel to safeguard all of the non-combatants and the few family members among the crew at the same time they defended key areas like the bridge and engineering from attack.
Therefore, to buy those people some time Zak closed all the doors throughout the ship then shutdown internal power to said doors as well as the turbolifts. He didn't have an Officer's clearance to do a security lockout on the ship's doors, but anyone could just pull the plug on their power from Engineering. Anyone trying to get through a door would have to pry it open manually and that would take time; and without turbolifts people would have to move through the Jeffries tubes to get where they wanted. In that scenario the crew would have a distinct advantage over the pirates since they had greater knowledge of the El Salvador's layout.
*********************************************** [Primary Hull]
Lynn bowed her head in polite gratitude to the Klingon and moved to enter one of the shuttles, "I hope no harm comes to your people either, Colonel." She wished she could do more but in truth the most help she could be was getting out from underfoot for when the fighting took place.
"We will have visitors shortly for the moment you are safe behind your force field. I will allow no harm to come to you for as long as I can", Wolf spoke to Armus after walking over to the force fields.
Armus experienced the internal sensation of raising a cynnical eyebrow and his voice dripped with sarcasm, "Guarded by those whose own ship was disabled in an instant then ambushed by boarders... I feel safer already." Underneath the snide reply though was a definite sense of unease that could well become fear before too much longer. After that Armus fell silent and reverted to puddle-form.
The vulcan form that then exitted the access tube nodded casually to those gathered within the shuttlebay as he knelt to replace the hatch covering. His glance flowed over everyone there, eyes widening then narrowing slightly as he caught a last glimpse of a female Changeling before she went out of view within one of the shuttlecraft. Finally his gaze found the high-ranked Klingon and Savot walked towards him with his hands at his sides.
"Colonel", he said by way of greeting, "I see you have this area secured. Loss of internal gravity is causing a delay amongst some of the boarders. It is curious; they appear to be an amalgamation of personnel with gravity boots, those with Zero-G training, and yet others who are floundering about helplessly. Naturally the former 2 are still on their way; brief me on your intended plan of defense for when the bay doors are breached."
K'ratak's lowering of ship's gravity had worked just fine and indeed held back some of the pirates; unfortunately the ship's power loss made it impossible to raise the gravity afterwards so the second half of his plan wasn't able to bear fruit. The vulcan form looked over at Armus for barely an instant before placing his focus on listening to the Colonel's intended strategy.

Looking at his captain and smiling he " Well at least part of my plan worked can't ask for everything now can we. If some are wearing mangnetic boots we could reverse the mangnetism of the deck plating. Only draw back is we would only beable to do certain parts of the floor that are near power couplings. Still there is the shuttle captain any chance you could use that to slow them down even a little."
As he waited the wheels in his head kept turning looking for ways to reduce the inturders numbers. It didn't matter how much technology you had numbers could always change the out come of a battle if you weren't careful.
" Captain I suggest we also figure out away to hide Armus, it would take time for them to find him. It would also give us a edge if they have to figure out where he's at we could hide in a container if promise to behave himself"

S'reena stumbled as the module was attacked, then protested as she was yanked down, feeling the heat of some sort of energy blast shoot close past her. She ducked, her hands flat on the deck as she ducked deeper. "I have to get home," she murmured, "Auric, the lift. Guide me!" Using her familiar as a guide, she crawled over to the lift.
A hand closed over hers, a strange sensation registering on her skin. "Let me be your guide," a soft voice spoke in her ear. She nodded and allowed the Founder to guide her off the bridge.
"Deck two," she breathed as they got inside the turbolift. Letting Daen be her sight, she found her way home to her quarters. "Michael!" she shouted, dashing inside with the Founder in tow. "Michael! The ship's being boarded, where are the children!"
"Right here S'reena, they're right here, they're asleep. Rather, were until you came in shouting." Michael appeared from the triplets' bedroom, then froze at the sight of a Founder standing with his arm wrapped around his wife's shoulders. And the Founder's arm was sparkling. "What're you doing? Get your hands off her!"
Daen smiled pleasantly. "I'm merely making sure she knows where you are. Through me, through my touch, she may experience what I see. We are linked."
"Are you now?" The venom in Michael's voice was unmistakeable. "I said get your hands off her. Right. Now."
"Michael?" Confusion crossed her face. "Michael, what's wrong?" She felt strange, a strange feeling coming from Daen. "Daen?"
"I need to return to my natural state," Daen whispered uncomfortably.
S'reena nodded, then gasped as the touch was suddenly gone. That wasn't supposed to have happened. There was a moan, then nothing.
"Mommy!" She recognised Yarna's voice, then felt her small arms wrap around her. "Mommy, I'm scared."
"Honey, why don't you go back to your room?" S'reena straightened, nudging her daughter away.
"Mommy he doesn't look good." Yarna turned to Daen, who had climbed back to his feet. She took one look at him, then dashed away, only to return with a sizeable bowl. "You can use this," she told him softly, smiling playfully. "I'll make sure they won't touch."
Daen cast the girl a grateful smile, before issuing S'reena a worried one. "S'reena will you be all right?" At the woman's nod, he returned to his natural state, accompanied by a cheerful laugh from Yarna. The girl carefully picked up the bowl and carried it to the santuary of her bedroom, where she sat to guard it like a lioness would her cubs.
In the livingroom, Michael was livid. "How could you bring a Founder to our home!" he shouted at his wife, "how could you let him touch you like that? Can't you tell he's in love with you? And here you're encouraging him!"
"That Founder is my friend," S'reena snapped back, "he offered friendship when nearly no-one else on this blasted ship does. He's a scientist, curious, young. And very naïve. We experimented on exchanging ideas, data, and he offered me his friendship for who I am. He looked beyond 'Romulan'. He offers me no pity, and assistance only when I ask for it, or when I clearly need it. That's what I need Michael, a friend. You have your work, I have my work, but I don't have that many friends because of what I am. You don't have to deal with the prejudice every single day. With the pity!"
Her voice changed pitch as she screamed at him. Then she turned and started to walk out, only to slam right into a door that did not open. Behind her, she heard Michael rant on and on, knowing he hadn't even noticed. "Michael, unlock the door. I'm leaving, now." She turned, her expression furious. "Now!"
"I didn't lock the door." The Human doctor eyed the bedroom, grateful that none came out looking to see what was going on. Eyes blazing he turned to his wife. He wanted to have another rant but when he saw her, standing against the door with one hand braced against it, he knew something was wrong and he swallowed. He also noticed she looked a little ruffled. Almost instantly, his anger and jealousy were gone and he strode over to her, taking her in his arms. "We'll figure it out," he promised, "we'll figure something out. I promise....I'm being silly, you know that right? Of course you can have friends, it's just that.." He faltered."
S'reena remained rooted to the spot, trying to figure out why the door was locked. "Computer, open the door."
=^=unable to comply, command not recognised=^=
"Medical override," Michael added.
=^=unable to comply, command not recognised=^=
Husband and wife looked at eachother. "Something is wrong," Michael concluded.
"This module was boarded, the computer must be disrupted." She tapped her combadge. "Hope to bridge. I am locked inside my quarters, the computer won't recognise any commander we give it. Daen, at the moment, is of no assistance to us, as he has returned to his liquid state. He will be in this form for at least four hours, if I remember correctly. Please advise."

[Primary Hull: Shuttlebay]
"Well at least part of my plan worked can't ask for everything now can we. If some are wearing mangnetic boots we could reverse the mangnetism of the deck plating. Only draw back is we would only beable to do certain parts of the floor that are near power couplings. Still there is the shuttle captain any chance you could use that to slow them down even a little", the Klingon colonel said.
The Marine paused another moment in thought before continuing, "Captain I suggest we also figure out away to hide Armus, it would take time for them to find him. It would also give us a edge if they have to figure out where he's at we could hide in a container if promise to behave himself."
The vulcan's face looked for a moment as though it were about to break into an excited smile of triumph at the colonel's idea, but the neutral countenance returned quickly, "Good thinking Colonel; I believe combining your two suggestions to be the best course of action. A shuttlecraft is its own container with separate shields of its own to defend against an external assault and if we place Armus within it there will be yet another line of defense against our attackers, and since their intention seems clear: that of taking Armus alive they will have to disable the shuttle rather than destroy it which will prove difficult for them on foot."
Security and science personnel set about calmly ushering Armus into one of the, as yet inactive, shuttlecraft with the EMH overseeing their actions and reassure Armus in an effort to keep the entity calm. The 3 Changelings who had met Armus on the surface of his planet entered the craft as well to attempt the same via the minor rapport they'd been able to establish in their short exposure to it.
******************************************* [Primary Hull: Corridors]
The attackers heard the conversations taking place in the shuttlebay over a hidden communicator within the bay. At first the spied words confused the pirates and they looked to the form of their 'leader' for this operation, "Hey, I thought you had the commlink."
An eyebrow rose with a facial expression that seemed to suggest the answer was obvious to anyone with intellect. The 'leader' replied, "Their defense plans are what you need to hear so you know how to counter them; there would be little sense in my carrying it upon my person out here where it would allow you to overhear nothing but your own words."
The pirates seemed satisfied with the explanation but the questioner mumbled something about their boss "burying himself in the role." As they moved towards the shuttlebay they knew to scan for power couplings and carefully float over them with deactivated gravity boots until they had cleared the threat area. As the group of 20 neared the bay doors, the 'leader' spoke again, "Give me a firearm."
The same questioner as before, an irritated Nausicaan, shot him an angry look, "What? You're a Changeling; you're your own weapon why do you need one of our solid ones." He ended with a mocking tone, knowing many Changelings looked upon the so-called 'solids' with contempt.
The responding brow furrowed in what almost looked like frustration of his own as he responded, "I will need my full strength to make contact and until I do so I am vulnerable. Therefore, you will give me a firearm as I ask and assume a protective formation as my vanguard for the initial assault. I will then use the confusion to slip through their defenses and reach it. Is that sufficient for you or shall I draw a map?"
The attitude was a risk but a calculated one, and it appeared to pay off. He was given what looked to be a 23rd-century Starfleet Phaser Pistol, and he held it ready in his right hand as they approached the bay doors...
*********************************************** [Primary Hull: Shuttlebay]
The EMH walked over to the vulcan, "Captain, recall what I reported earlier about Armus appearing to sense an approaching source of rage. Since we are now under attack it's not improbable that he was actually sensing something and if so it may be working both ways. If the boarders have a member capable of sensing emotion they would act like a divining rod leading them straight to us. And if such is the case I don't see how we can effectively hide Mr. Armus."
Savot looked back at the hologram with excitement, "Perhaps there is Doctor. In a standard communication, both sender and receiver have to be broadcasting on the same frequency in order for the message to be readable. It's possible I can use the vulcan Mind Meld to, in effect, alter the empathic frequency at which Armus' emotios are broadcast. The anger will still be there but it will take the boarders' guide time to locate it again."
At that moment the doors to the shuttlebay were destroyed by some corrosive compound, and the pirates could now enter and engage K'ratak's Marine forces. Everyone's attention was drawn firmly to the now-missing doors and at the rear of the group stood the form of... Commodore Savot armed with an old phaser pistol.
The EMH quickly put 2 and 2 together and frantically lifted his tricorder to scan the Savot he'd just been talking to, and found what he'd dreaded he'd find: Changeling lifesigns. The Savot behind the pirates was giving off vulcan lifesigns as he should have been but before either the pirates or the El Salvador crew could regain their focus the Changeling Savot flung himself into the shuttle with Armus and the 3 Founders who had gone into the shuttle to help calm Armus.
The shuttle's hatch snapped closed once again sealing the rogue Changeling in with the 3 legitimate ones and the powerful Armus, but just before it closed the EMH saw the rogue release Savot's form and began to envelope Armus in its liquified form.
The pirates were confused by the vulcan duo and turned to look back at the real Savot who'd been travelling with them for the past 30 minutes, just in time for 4 of them to be caught in the vulcan captain's wide stun beam fired from his recently-procured phaser pistol. Savot then had to retreat several feet around the bend of the corridor outside Main Shuttlebay so he didn't leave himself a sitting duck, but at least now Savot and K'ratak's group were in a position to pincer the pirate group and divide their attention.
Savot tapped his commbadge since the whine of energy weapons being fired made it impossible for K'ratak to hear his voice un-aided, =^=Savot to K'ratak; as soon as the attackers are dispatched get everyone out of the shuttlebay. Now that the rogue Changeling has what he came for he could easily decide to blow his way off of the ship depressuring the bay and killing everyone inside. There is insufficient time to breach the shuttlecraft's hull to get to them beforehand; we shall have to regroup and find another means to stop them.=^=

[Primary Hull: Shuttlebay]
Lynn looked out in horror through the windows of the shuttlecraft she'd taken refuge in. Their attackers had reached the bay and a firefight was ensuing between them and Colonel K'ratak's team of defenders, but worse even than that she had seen the 'Savot' imposter enter and seal the shuttlecraft that now held Armus and her 3 fellow Founders as well.
Existing for the majority of one's life in a perfect and total link physically and mentally with the rest of your species gave one the ability to sense your kin even when you were outside the Great Link. Lynn had sensed changeling presence within the shuttlebay, but that was to be expected since her 3 fellows were there as well and as such she had been unable to tell that the vulcan Commodore who had entered through the Jeffries tubes was also one of her race until it was too late. Now her worst fears for this mission were being realized...
Within the other shuttle now sealed off from the inside, the other 3 Founders sprung to action as soon as they realized the nature of the fake vulcan among them. Unfortunately, when they had met Armus and given him a sample of their physical substance to test whether he was truly compatible with their link they had taught him how to hold that sample separate from himself as a gesture of good faith. As the rogue changeling began to merge with Armus he too had access to this ability and the collective attacks from the trio slid off of him like oil upon the surface of water.
Armus himself didn't think to use this ability to stop the merging until it was too late since he too had been fooled by the rogue's vulcan disguise. Instead he attempted to lash out with his own powers... only to howl in terrified rage as they failed to answer his call. Worse yet was that he could feel his abilities now answering to this foreign presence instead, betraying him just as his people had untold ages ago. Oily tendrils shot out pinning the 3 Founders to the wall, cieling, and floor of the shuttle and began to literally consume them leaving not even so much as a corpse to mark their passing from this life.
Raithas, this rogue changeling, had been one of 'The Hundred': changelings sent out by the Great Link to explore the galaxy and return their discoveries back to the Link later. Unfortunately he had been found by those whose cruelty and self interest drove them to exploit and experiment on him with horrific abandon. He had known only suffering and blamed the Link for sending him out into that existence and he had sought to avenge himself upon their Link for that abandonment.
Biding his time he'd eventually learned of the Enterprise D's discovery of Armus and the nature of the entity and, like his people who had conceived of this mission to invite Armus to the Link, believed it possible for a merger to be successful between a changeling and the orphaned entity. Raithas read of the power Armus' rage had bestowed upon him and sought to seize that power for himself to use against those who had sent him into the universe alone to suffer a miserable and solitary existence. Years of planning had now come to fruition and the first changeling victims had just fallen to Raithas' retribution...

Hearing his captain message over his combadge he wasn't happy how this day was going. They were loosing in a big way and now Armus was no longer there's and there was a 4th changling. His thoughts went to lynn he had given her his word he would protect her and now she too was in danger.
" Understood Captain my team will clear the shuttle bay, I would suggest we allow the intured to escape for the moment. He could cause alot of damage to the ship if he has to blow a hole in her to get out. Its better to let me them go and have a complete ship to give chase"
Looking at his men he signaled for them to fall back they weren't happy about it. They would fight to the end if need be. " Don' worry team there would be a chance to repay the favor and visit them I promises"
As they fell back he saw the main power start to the shuttle it would only be a matter of time before they got away. Aiming his weapon at one of the shuttles nacells he fired nicking the plasam line. It would do any damage but it would lead a trail to what every ship it was going to. At least that would be something unless they beamed off which he doubted, he didn't think the alien ships would risk dropping there shields with the El-sal hanging around.

Though he was out of K'ratak's line of sight, Savot nodded at his Marine officer's logic as he replied, =^=I agree Colonel. Let us focus on extricating our people and regrouping.=^= The vulcan captain punctuated his orders by leaning around the corner of the corridor to lay down more covering fire to distract the pirates still pincered between himself and all the personnel in the shuttlebay.
As it turned out, the pirates fell much more easily than Savot had anticipated. When the rogue changeling had made its move they seemed as surprised and confused by its actions as the El Salvador crew had been; apparently this hadn't been part of the boarders' strategy and they were now at a loss as to how precisely to respond. This gave K'ratak and his well-trained detachment more than sufficient opportunity to subdue the remaining pirates, even going so far as to drag their unconscious forms into the safety of the corridor so they wouldn't face death via decompression if their former accomplice decided to blow its way out of the shuttlebay with its prize.
When everyone but Armus and the rogue changeling were out of the bay, Savot nodded firmly to K'ratak, "Well done, Colonel. Your 'tagging' of the shuttle's nacelle was well conceived and will allow us to track them once we regain power." But before he finished, Lynn was already shaking her head.
"I agree that the Colonel displayed great ingenuity under pressure, but I know the rogue will not attempt to leave your vessel. At least not yet", she closed her eyes as though she were in grief, "For you see, Commodore, now that he has found his prize he is no longer hiding his presence from me and I can feel his presence... a presence I no longer feel from the 3 who accompanied Daen and myself on this mission. Presumably this rogue is one of the Hundred sent into the cosmos by our people long ago to explore and bring back knowledge. But whatever fate we delivered him into has clearly twisted him into no more than a vassal of retribution. He will not leave this vessel until he has killed me."
As Savot listened, his right eyebrow arched in fascination at her story while the left furrowed in concern for their present situation. When Lynn finished he looked down at the deck a moment in thought before deciding, "Then we have no choice but to attempt to deter his efforts at any cost. Was your work with Commander Hope able to contrive of any lethal means of stopping Armus?"
Lynn began to respond, reluctantly agreeing with the vulcan's dire appraisal of the situation but she then recalled the liquified sample that the Founders had given to Armus to test the possibility of a true linking with him. It might just be possible... Her eyes lit with new hope, the female Founder looked back to the vulcan with urgency, "No, Commodore it need not come to that! You recall the sample of our substance that was given to Armus? I can still sense it, untainted, within what little of Armus remains that this rogue has not corrupted."
Savot listened patiently, not wanting to interrupt her train of thought as Lynn continued speaking more excitedly than he'd yet seen a Changeling speak, "If I can attain a merger with them before it becomes tainted by the rogue I can use it as a... what is the Terran word?... a fulcrum! A point of leverage from which to force the invading changeling out of his link with Armus. I would essentially act as a strainer of sorts excising that which is not natural to Armus' form out of his body."
Savot nodded slightly, agreeing with the scientific probability of the plan's overall success, but his expression was grave, "Madame, with Armus' even slightly diluted powers at its command the rogue could likely prevent you from making contact. And if you were to succeed... that act would almost certainly cost you your own life."
Lynn nodded, her expression softened by a pity not for herself but for Armus... and perhaps even for the rogue, "Your Commander Hope and my colleague Daen developed force field configurations capable of temporarily disrupting our control over our physical forms, and your Colonel K'ratak and I employed these configurations in the force fields of your shuttlebay. If you can return power to the field emitters, they will incapacitate the lost changeling long enough for me to make contact. And if I make myself a visible target his desire to destroy me will blind him to all else. As to my death... Armus is not to blame for our present situation Commodore, nor truly is the lost changeling. The end fault lies with we of the Great Link who sent him away and as such it should be our burden to solve it."
The vulcan captain looked at the Founder with a somber respect, and bowed his head slightly and offered the salute of his people as he replied, "Your service honors us, Madame. I shall hope for your survival, but in the meantime it is our mission to aid you in yours and we shall do so."
"Colonel K'ratak, counting these unconscious pirates with us here and those your gravity alterations incapacitated along the way I estimate few could still remain on the ships attached to our hull, and any that are still there certainly are not expecting an attack from us", strapping the older model phaser pistol at his waist Savot began binding the feet and hands of the captured pirates as he continued his orders to K'ratak, "You will take your unit and seize the pirate vessel that is closest to this deck, and initiate a power transfer from their ship to this primary module of our own. I will imprison these pirates in the cargo hold and return here to activate the force fields for Madame Lynn once you've accomplished this. When the power has been transferred, you and your team will rendevous with me here where we will await the success or failure of her plan and respond accordingly. Proceed, Colonel, and exercise caution." As usual, it was the vulcan way of telling someone to 'take care'.
Even as she knelt to assist Savot with binding the pirates, Lynn cast a silent nod to the klingon colonel of both gratitude and a wish for good luck to bless his team.

S'reena paced her quarters, oblivious to Michael's annoyed sighs and the moping of her children. All but Yarna, who stood guard over what appeared to be a bowl of yellow-ish, shimmering soup. She stared at it intently, occasionally poking a finger in just test the texture. She did, until Michael pulled her away with a stern glance, since then she stood watch from a slight distance away.
Kahlan observed from the couch, though the young girl was obviously anxious. The triplets were the most whiney, nagging their parents in their childish speech about wanting to go out. None of the one-year olds, however could clearly tell them what exactly they wanted.
Michael sighed again, yanking his wife to a halt. "S'reena please, stop pacing, you're driving me nuts. There's nothing you can do, all we can do is wait for communications to be restored, and for engineering to fix the problem."
"If the ship is boarded, my place is on the bridge," S'reena argued, "I can-" She faltered, realising she could not be of help. She sighed as she felt his arms circle around her shoulders, drawing her close to him. "I feel so useless."
"You're not useless love, just stuck in your quarters. I'm glad you thought of us when you did, really, I am. And I'm sorry for shouting at you but.." He fell silent, shame burning his cheeks. After nearly 9 years of marriage, surely he ought to trust her by now? She'd always been faithful yet always he felt jealousy burn whenever he saw her get friendly with another male. And she never once said anything if he had female friends.
Again, the Romulan sighed, allowing herself to be held, until Yarna suddenly called out. "Mom!" she called, pointing at the bowl. The shimmering intensified and started to take on form again. After a few seconds, Daen stood before them again, looking a little flustered, but certainly better.
"There's trouble," he commented, looking anxiously around the room he was in.
"There certainly is," Michael replied, motioning casually towards the door. "The ship's been boarded, and we can't get out. Communications are out too, so we don't know what's going on. Yarna's been in a right fit though."
S'reena offered her first smile in hours. "She's worried about the captain. She idolises him you see, he's her rolemodel. And I can't blame her, the way he dealt with them when they went to play hide and seek on the bridge. I would entrust them to him any given day."
"And twice on sunday," Michael finished ruefully. "Look Daen, I'm sorry about before. I'm sure you'll think less of me but hey I'm only Human and when I saw you hold hands with my wife I...well you understand right?"
The Founder nodded once. "No harm done," he answered casually, "I wouldn't harm a friend. We experimented, I was curious. Perhaps I went too far, I honestly don't know." His eyes met Michael's. "Lynn often says I'm young, too curious for my own good. I want to be openminded and learn about other cultures. Merging is the quickest way, and your wife consented after I made the request. We're both scientists, and we're both learning from this." He held out his hand. "I'm willing to share the experience with you too."
Michael looked at the out-stretched hand, arching an eyebrow. "Isn't merging..." He faltered, his face colouring bright red.
Daen smiled. "There is no sexual intent," he assured the doctor, "none whatsoever. Only information exchange, feelings and such. It's hard to describe, what one feels. I understand your desire to get out, but I believe that we are the safest in here. So long as we remain here, they won't know we're here you see. At least, that's what I think..." Daen babbled on, repeating himself repeatedly, and not realising it.
"Daen stop rambling," Michael suddenly cut in, "I get the point." He held out his hand brusquely. "Show me." He froze as the Founder complied, merging himself around the stunned doctor. He made it as brief as possible, as now that he knew there was danger, he had no wish to endanger them further.
"I can try to slip out, and warn anyone," he offered, "or I can stay here and try to help you defend your family. A Founder is not without defenses, and I can well....become inconspicuous? Pose as a piece of furniture, no-one would suspect."
Michael nodded quietly. He hated being so dependent but he was a doctor, hardly a fighter. He knew S'reena was but since her accident which had cost her her sight, she too was now a liability, despite still being an avid fighter. "Stay," he offered, "please."
"We still need to alert someone," S'reena cut in, her voice cold as steel, "we can't just sit idle. I can't!"
"S'reena please. For once don't make a scene. We're safe here, no-one knows we're here unless someone cares to check the personnel files and round up all the senior staff. Relax."
The Romulan sank down in a seat. "For now then," she acquiesced, "for now." She pulled Jeisen onto her lap and started to feed him his dinner.

Looking at his captain he knew he was right, normally he would object to the risk the captain was taking. Still there was little choice in the matter somebody had to activate the force field so there was no real option.
"Understood Captain we will take there ship and transfer what every power I can. I do ask that you please watch your back, I have no desire to explain to Commander Jackson why you are no longer with us. It would be a very unpleasant conversation for the both of us"
Turning to Lynn " I will expect to see you when this is over, I will do everything I can to save you. I gave you my word to protect you and I will not let you make me a lier. I have learned much from you in our short time and wish to continue my learning when this is over"
gathering his team he started to make his way to the docking port, there were few pirates and his team was able to take them unharmed. Entering the docking port he opened the door to a frengi shuttle. The stench was overpowering to his sense but he made his way to the cockpit. The pilot on guard turned and froze when he saw him, enough time for a quick jab to his head to make sure he didn't interfere.
Looking at the controls he was a little worried if there would be enough power to transfer to the El Sal. A quick caculation told him the power transfer would only last a few minutes at best before buring out the systems.
"Captain I have control of the shuttle, she is a low end frengi shuttle. I'm actually shocked she still operational, still the power transfer will only last a few minutes maybe 3 at best. The circutes are not very well made and will burn out quickly. I have programed the shuttle to begin on your voice command. I have also locked the controls and disengaged the engines she wont be going any where. I will make my way back to you in a few moments"

The bulb headed creature stood before James as the young Lieutenant slowly brought the spinning disc online. Lights throughout the planet lit up as power was slowly restored, and all his repair attempts over the last several months, or years, or even days was finally complete. He looked towards his friend Marcus who stood next to him with a smile on his features. "We have completed the task." His words aimed at the creature that stood before him.
"Very well James, and now if you would follow me..."
James turned and looked back towards Marcus, "But, what about him."
And, it was at this point that Marcus shook his head, "I wish to remain here my friend. I have missed you terribly, but it would be too difficult to explain to my family."
James reached out, but would retract his hand, "I understand my friend." He replied and watched as the creature in front of him powered up a large wormhole that was bleached white. James waved goodbye to his friend before the wormhole took him inside, and was filled with so much pain that he passed out for a moment...
Ensign O'Hare was sitting on the deckplate in main engineering power throughout the ship was down due to the pirate attack. They had been locked inside forever without any way to contact the others when suddenly a third class petty officer standing close to him spoke up.
"Sir we have a sharp power spike coming from the warp core."
O'Hare jumped up, "What kind of power spike?"
The third class spoke again, "It's just like the one from the holodecks shortly before..."
O'Hare raised his hands in time to shield his eyes as a blinding light from the warp core shattered through the darkness, and as the light vanished there was a thud on the deck. He ran forward towards where the noise was and the warp core to find a single person laying there on the deck in an engineering uniform, and he would roll the person over before stumbling back...
James awoke slowly looking up to find himself surrounded by several engineering personnel inside a darkened main engineering. "Wha-..." He sat up as those around him backed away, "What is going on...what did I miss?"
Ensign O'Hare pushed the others away a little bit, "Let him breathe." He then turned his attention to his presumed dead chief and started to speak, "Well sir, we all thought you were dead."
James shook his head, "I assumed that much, but I meant right now why is engineering dark?"
O'Hare sighed, "Well you see sir we were attacked by pirates, and the power is offline, as well as the doors throughout the ship have been deactivated to prevent movement of the pirates throughout the ship. We are effectively holed up here."
James shook his head, "No listen carefully we need to find a way to reestablish the power and take the ship back where are the others?"
O'Hare looked at him carefully, "Well some of our staff are on board the primary hull. The rest were throughout the ship when we were attacked we haven't heard from them."
James stood up slowly, "Very well let me think for a moment we need to find a way to retake the ship without weapons. I'm assuming the Jefferies tubes are accessible?"
O'Hare nodded.
James smiled, "Good give me a minute to think."

Savot nodded at K'ratak's words of caution and looked upon the Colonel with inner satisfaction at the Klingon's apparent concern for their changeling guest; then the Marines were off to do their duties. Lynn knelt on the deck sitting on her heels and closed her eyes, apparently storing the fortitude necessary to see her through the coming demands that would be placed upon her shapeshifting abilities. The vulcan set about rerouting the power flow so that any power K'ratak was able to transfer from the nearest pirate vessel would have a straight shot to the shuttlebay force fields to avoid losing power during its journey.
He was quite satisfied when K'ratak's report of the power transfer and the condition of the Ferengi shuttle he'd taken, =^=Understood Colonel, good work. When your team exits the shuttle, seal that airlock and detach the shuttle from our hull. When we can restore power to our engines it will lessen the strain on our intertial dampeners if we are free of its bulk. I am enacting Madame Lynn's plan immediately to prevent the rogue from gaining anymore control over Armus' powers than he already has, Savot out.=^=
As he tapped his badge to close the commline the female Founder stood calmly and reopened her eyes, "I am ready Commodore." Savot nodded silently and gripped his phaser pistol after reopening the shuttlebay doors. At first nothing changed, but Lynn began to step forward into the bay and at that point it was clear the rogue noticed her approach. The ship shook slightly as Raithas roared in ravenous anger and the closed hatch of the shuttle he and Armus were in was wrenched from the shuttlecraft and hurled into one of the bay walls with a resounding metallic thud.
Savot for his part remained calm but he was impressed by the fact that Lynn seemed to as well. Even a single changeling was a formidable force but Lynn was well aware that the foe she approached was vastly more powerful than she at present. Before the echo of the fallen shuttlecraft hatch had fully died Raithas seemed to both hover and slide over the surface of the floor towards his prey. With Armus' power even partially at his disposal as it was he likely could have destroyed Lynn while he was still sealed in the shuttle but his vengeance demanded a direct confrontation.
No anger-driven melodramatic speech came from Raithas, no declaration of victory. He said nothing as if even speaking to his enemy would show her more respect than she deserved for being one of them. He slowed the closer he became, seeming to savor the last moments before the kill, but he did not stop advancing. Finally, when he was 2 meters from her, a small section of the small of Lynn's back rippled like liquid giving Savot the signal.
Savot activated the force fields which instantly surrounding the merged Raithas and Armus and for the first instant the rogue was too surprised to attempt escape. After that heartbeat's respite though he brought the full force of his currently available power at the fields and Savot knew they would not last long, but they did not have to. As soon as the fields gave out Lynn flung herself forward like a pulled-back rubber band towards the dual entity.
Just as someone pushing against an object with all their strength will fall forward if that object is suddenly moved, so too did Raithas' full strength pounding of the shields allow the slightest of windows of opportunity for Lynn to make contact before he could regain his proverbial balance and attempt to force her out. Savot watched on in helpless fascination knowing that any action he took would be more detrimental to Lynn's strategy than to Raithas.
Lynn moved within the viscous entity like oil desperately trying to pierce water's surface to reach her goal underneath. Fortunately, Raithas had to continually focus on keeping Armus from regaining control so most of the struggle was between the 2 Changelings' merging abilities and in this area Lynn was far more experienced as she had lived within the Great Link for the vast majority of her existence. The conflict itself lasted only 15 or 20 seconds from an observer's perspective but to the combatants it seemed a palpable eternity... but at last she reached her goal: the portion of Changeling mass they had given Armus and it was still free from the contamination of contact with Raithas.
A crack in rock that fills with water and shatters the rock when frozen, a sieve that lets water and silt fall through while retaining the gold hidden in the depths... these were the examples Lynn looked to as she fought to purge Raithas from Armus without destroying Armus' identity. As she found solid footing from which to mount her offensive Raithas was forced to release more and more of his control over Armus in order to try and forcefully maintain his connection to the obsidian entity. The rogue had been one with Armus, knew its feelings, and was betting on Armus staying out of the conflict to focus on defending himself rather than aid Lynn.
On one matter Raithas' assumption was on the money; Armus didn't come to Lynn's rescue. Armus did attack the being who had seized and manipulated him, however. Normally Armus wouldn't have known how to attack something within himself without wiping out both Lynn and Raithas... but a certain chess game with a vulcan captain had taught him to focus and pinpoint his powers. Like numerous combatants before him, Raithas found himself overwhelmed by trying to fight a war on 2 fronts and slowly but surely Lynn began to gain ground.
Approximately 117 seconds after activating the force fields Savot saw a protoplasmic blob flung out of and away from Armus. The oily entity himself appeared to deflate as though exhausted in a way he'd never been before but it was clear that he was Armus once again. The ousted blob remained shapeless for nearly a full minute quivering slowly on the deck of the shuttlebay like a frail body on an artificial respirator. Finally, though the eyes remained closed and the rest lay as unmoving as a corpse, the viscous matter reformed as a distinctly female shape...

Savot quickdrew his tricorder to check the female form's lifesigns and though they were understandably irregular given the bout that had just taken place they matched generally those taken of Lynn when she had first beamed aboard. Armus had reassumed semi-humanoid shape but wobbled somewhat as a result of his own considerable fatigue. "Are you yourself, Armus?", Savot inquired.
"I am once again solitary. My attacker... I think it lost itself to her during the struggle. Why did she risk herself vulcan?", Armus' question was half demand, half fearful moan. He was clearly angry by the attack itself but was being forced to face evidence of a being that freely chose self-sacrifice to help another and he was ill-equipped to digest such a revelation at present.
Savot glanced briefly at the unconscious Lynn before responding as he stood up, "Because she accepted the responsibility of her race for this scenario upon herself. Although the Great Link clearly had not intended any of the Hundred they sent into the galaxy to suffer in this way, it did happen as a final result of their initial choice. Being the only one of her people present to accept the burden of responsibility and aid us, she chose to do so even at the potential loss of her own life."
K'ratak and company returned and Savot nodded to them, "Good work Colonel the situation here is stabilized for the moment. However, given that we have received neither word nor aid from the rest of the El Salvador it is likely they remain under attack and we are still powerless on this module. Though our power systems themselves are undamaged it will take time to restore them after the dampening effect of the pirates' mines." Before the vulcan could put a plan in motion, Armus spoke.
The voice filled the bay with a measure of its former 'boom' restored as Armus spoke, "I can help you vulcan. After the exercises during your chess game I can more precisely guide and focus my energies. I imagine I can... jump start, your power systems more quickly than usual."
Savot arched a brow, "Intriguing and, more importantly, quite feasible." He looked to the Klingon, "Colonel, I shall go with Armus to this section's engine room and work on restoring the power. You go to the bridge and upon re-establishment of communications hail first the rest of the ship to ascertain their status then the pirates to attempt to warn them off. If they do not immediately desist their attack fire at will to disable their ships."
As he paused, lights began once more to illuminate the shuttlebay and the adjoining corridors, and the vulcan angled his head slightly, "Excellent, I suspect that is Commander Hope's Second, Mr. Forbes, on the bridge already beginning the standard power up sequence. Armus' efforts shall take even less time now."
Savot checked on Lynn's tricorder scans once more before finally nodding, "At present Madame Lynn will be safest remaining here; when Armus and I restore power I shall reactivate the EMH at this location and he can care for her. Proceed to the bridge Colonel, I will contact you when we've succeeded."
Armus slid and/or glided through the halls of the ship trailing the vulcan captain until they arrived in this section's engine room and began their work. After experimenting to find the right level of nudging the system could safely handle from Armus' energy the entity would have the module back to full power within 7 minutes and then they could set about making some space pirates very disappointed...

(Sorry I misread a post and didn't realize that there was a security team in engineering so ignore that portion of my previous post)
.:.Main Engineering.:.
James sat back thinking before he would speak, "Ensign how did the pirates get aboard did they beam aboard or did they attach a ship to our hull?"
Ensign O'Hare looked at him, "They have a ship on our hull sir."
James smiled, "Perfect. Ensign O'Hare your in charge here," he turned to another group of engineering personnel, "Ensign Davis, Petty Officer Lucas, and Crewman McDaniels your with me we are going to travel the jefferies tubes and get to their ship. We can drain their ship's energy back into the El'Salvador and at least restore internal communications." He watched as the others nodded in response.
.:.Passageway.:.
And, with that the small task force that he'd assembled left through the entry point of the jefferies tubes. It took them about an hour but eventually they came to the entrance on board the pirate's vessel. But, it had two armed guards inside. And, of course the engineers were unarmed without a security officer.
James sighed and leaned back inside then his eyes lit up. "Crewman McDaniels," he whispered, "I need you to create a diversion, there are two of them, I need you to slip into the passageway and make some sort of loud noise to attract their attention."
"Yes sir."
The lieutenant then turned his attention to Petty Officer Lucas, "Mister Lucas I need you and Ensign Davis to slip outside as well on the other side of the passage. Once their attention is drawn to McDaniels I need you to disarm them and knock them unconscience."
"Aye sir." Ensign Davis and Petty Officer Lucas said in quiet unison. Before they both slipped outside as the exit to the jefferies tube was just outside the entry point to the ship. They hid around the corner and awaited.
Crewman McDaniels slipped out next at the other end and moved towards the bulkhead where he crashed his fists hard into it making a loud sound.
The two pirates moved outside to find out where the Crewman was standing and raised their blasters to fire.
Ensign Davis got there first lifting his left foot and bracing as he planted it along the bottom part of the pirate's back, a large Bolian male, and knocking him forward and causing the blaster rifle to fly from his fingertips.
Just then James jumped out and caught the weapon as it went spinning across the deck plates and lifted it only to fire as Petty Officer Lucas planted his right fist into the back of the other, a human male. Knocking him forward into the blast and then watched as he collapsed to the ground.
James motioned for the Bolian to kneel down with his hands behind his head. Just as Ensign Davis performed a Vulcan nerve pinch on the man. Who would also fall to the deckplate.
James watched this action and felt a wave of some shock, "I didn't know you could do that?"
Davis smiled and nodded, "I spent five years on Vulcan sir."
James nodded, "Very well." He replied to Ensign Davis who picked up the other blaster rifle, James then passed his weapon over to Crewman McDaniels before speaking, "Great work alright Ensign Davis and Crewman McDaniels you two stand sentry while Petty Officer Lucas and myself get to work."
.:.Pirate Vessel.:.
The four people stepped inside the pirate vessel, with the two with weapons standing watch as the other two walked towards the panel. James would quickly begin to patch the power draining it into the El'Salvador's power reserves, and now with some sort of internal communications he could at least contact the bridge, "Lieutenant James Fire to Bridge please respond?"

Hearing Commander Hope and the Changling Daen were trapped in her quarters was a double edged sword of joy and disappointment, for one thing they were safe but also unable to help .
Reports of minor skirmishes came to the bridge, the pirates while armed seemed to lack the finesse of a military organization and their attack was less than applaud worthy. The ships crew were beating them back it seemed only a small handful of the pirates had bothered with the main section of El Salvador no doubt to Jackson’s luck and Savot’s bad luck.
With the power systems intermittent at best communications was at a premium, and communications with the Primary Hull was not an option for now Jackson had to ignore Savot’s plight and concentrate on her own.
“Commander Hope until power is restored you will have to remain in your room, protection of our guest is of the utmost importance,, guard him with your life Commander Jackson out.”
Looking down at the power readouts Jackson sighed and ran a hand through her hair, nothing she could do to help either section of the ship until Engineers figured out a way to get the warp core working in the pirate dampening field.
Her eyes noticed a small boost in power and she was about to point it out when the comm. Channel came to life.
"Lieutenant James Fire to Bridge please respond?"
she sat back down and replied. “Mr. Fire I assume the power was your doing what is your status.”
Her hands busy at work at her small console. Her first priority perhaps misplaced was to release Commander Hope, for if her help was greatly needed.
OOC: Please feel free to NPC Jackson as needed I will reply when I can during this busy time

“Mr. Fire I assume the power was your doing what is your status.”
James heard the familiar voice come over the communicator being that it was Commander Jackson the ship's first officer, "Yes I am currently draining the pirate's ship of it's power next I am going to transfer what little power is left into our impulse engines and then my team and myself will be making our way towards engineering to bring some more systems online. I need the computer core unlocked in main engineering so that I can begin to filter power throughout the ship?"
<tag Jackson>
James turned his attention to Petty Officer Lucas, "Petty Officer is the power transfer complete?"
"Yes sir."
James nodded, "Good we need to get back to main engineering", he replied and began to motion for the others to secure the passageway. Once he seen them do such he made his way out with Lucas, then the other two followed making their way through the jefferies tubes until they made it inside main engineering. He turned his attention to Ensign O'Hare, "Has power been restored to impulse?"
Ensign O'Hare nodded, "Yes sir."
"Good." James replied now it was simply a matter of getting power to internal sensors. He would work quietly to get some power there, and then motion for the security team to come to him. "Mister Zak we have power to internal sensors. Your teams should be able to locate the pirates by looking at this. These red lights are locations of the intruders you should be able to take back the ship via this and communications."

As with real life combat could move just as quickly they had Armus back but Lynn was hurt. He had a new respect for her still he was up set he could do more but there Captain was right he need to get to the bridge and help the rest of the El-Sal. " Understood captain I will do my best not to scratch the paint"
Arriving on bridge he started to work on getting there senors and communications back up. With out full power it was hit at miss at best. From what he could gather Commander Jackson was in no better shape
Tapping the commuication switch " Commander Jackson if you can read me help is on the way hold out a little longer"
Looking back down at the read outs power was still out but he had enough back power launch a few photon torpedoes. With targeting out he had to aim manuly and give it his best guess aim for the biggest threat to draw attackers off Commander Jackson. He watched as the first photon missed and went wide the secound one found its mark. Still it didn't do much damage but did get some attention. He watched as some of the ships broke off and started heading towards him
Tapping his combadge " Uh captain unless you get power on line soon, I'm going to end up breaking my promise about not scratching the paint. I just upset our friends out there and they are heading in our direction and they don't look happy"

Savot carefully monitored the engineering consoles to ensure no overload occurred as Armus powered up the ship. Little by little the uppermost section of the El Salvador was restored to fighting status. With his hand still en route to his commbadge, Savot paused as he heard Wolf's voice come through over ship communications, =^=Uh captain unless you get power on line soon, I'm going to end up breaking my promise about not scratching the paint. I just upset our friends out there and they are heading in our direction and they don't look happy.=^=
Arching an eyebrow at the timing, Savot tapped his badge in reply, =^=My ability to hear you would appear to indicate that power has indeed been restored; standby.=^= He switched one of the console screens over to the main viewer's feed and saw the approaching ships K'ratak was talking about. They did indeed look to be irked by the torpedo strike they'd suffered but Savot had a theory. Engaging the starboard thrusters to push the primary hull away from the now empty Ferengi shuttle K'ratak had transferred power from, the vulcan destroyed it with a phaser volley then switched the viewer back over to the approaching pirates to see how they'd react.
As he'd hypothesized, and was grateful to be proven correct in this instance, all of the remaining pirate ships that weren't attached to the rest of the El Salvador's hull immediately manuevered for an escape vector and leapt to warp. The pirates' objective had been to take Armus with them; once they saw they had lost the element of surprise and at least one of their foes had restored power, there was nothing further for the pirates to gain and certainly nothing worth risking a fair fight with a Federation starship. When all the non-attached ships had fled Savot addressed K'ratak once more, =^=Move to rendevous with the rest of the ship Colonel and initiate reintegration of our module with the others. Once reconnected Armus and I will be able to use the same method of power restoration we used here to restore the entire ship and we'll be in a position to assist them in removing any pirate hostiles not already neutralized.=^=
********************************************
The Gorn chief listened carefully to what the engineer told him and nodded firmly, leaving a pair of security personnel to stay and guard engineering while he led the rest against the remaining pirates.

James watched as the Gorn chief of security and his people vanished. He sighed heavily and walked back into his office, "Ensign O'Hare begin transfering power into the computer core." He said as he had finally gained access to it as the remaining pirates were being handled by the security teams left on board. He then would vanish around the corner, but before entering his office he said something more, "And, Ensign alert me when you know more I'll be in my office."
He entered and collapsed in his chair looking down he noticed a PADD on his desk. It was the reply to his transfer request it must have come in while he was gone. He didn't alert anybody, but Commodore Savot that he may want a transfer. And, now here was his request he picked it up sliding it between his fingers gently. Before he would activate it, and watched as the words filled the screen and he would begin to read. The top part was his actual request, and it read as follows;
Admiral,
These last three months have been extremely hard on me. I lost my best friend who had joined Starfleet with me. I have been considering, in the last month, of transferring to another vessel. It's not that I have a problem with this crew they are a fine group to work with. I just feel that it's time that I go elsewhere. My father always said I had a hard time staying in one place for too long. But, this time I don't think that is what the deal is. In fact it feels like its something more I love being an engineering officer on board this class ship. So though I wish to transfer to another, I request that it be this class ship. I hope this isn't too much of a burden on you or your people.
Respectfully,
James Patrick Fire Lieutenant Chief Engineering Officer, USS El'Salvador
James sighed as he read through the request before scrolling down to the reply;
Lieutenant,
Your request is granted. You are to transfer to the USS Olympia under Rear Admiral Steven Smith as the Chief Engineering Officer. Good luck with your future.
Respectfully,
Magellan Lin Fleet Admiral Personnel Officer
James sighed and sat back placing the PADD on his desk. He had dove right into his job here, and he would miss them all, but over the last couple months there had been far too much drama up and down the chain of command. He had gotten this strange feeling that though everybody cared for each other there had been too many issues among them. Or, that was just his assumption and regardless of those feelings he had been transferred to another ship with a new crew. He now found himself wondering what the Olympia was like, and the Commanding Officer Steven Smith.
=^=Later=^=
James strolled down the passageway of Deep Space Nine. His shuttle left soon, and from there he would make his way to meet up with the Olympia. Without a clue as to what awaited him...

The last remaining pirate ship attached to the majority of the El Salvador clearly saw that the operation had headed south at warp speed, so it decided to use the same alacrity in making its escape even before all of its crew had managed to retreat from the Starfleet vessel. Given their tentative power situation both segments of the ship opted not to try detaining the fleeing pirate and K'ratak contented himself with approaching the secondary hull to initiate the ship's reintegration process to make it whole once again.
The few left behind pirates, 17 in all counting those who had already been disabled during the attack, were herded together by the Gorn Chief Athgar and taken to the brig after a thorough weapons search and medical scans. By this time, the soft bump of the meeting hulls informed all aboard that the El Salvador was singular again and Savot continued working with Armus in the primary module's engineering section to help repower the entire ship now, =^=Savot to K'ratak, reintegration successful Colonel good work. Inform Commander Jackson we'll be rerouting main controls back to our main bridge and remain there until she or I arrive to assume the conn. In the meantime we shall continue on our course towards DS9 airspace for added security against any further attacks though I doubt we'll face any further assault. Savot out.=^=
True to his word, now that the immediate crisis had been averted Savot reactivated the Emergency Medical Hologram in the shuttlebay to tend Lynn's still unconscious form. She would be moved in short order to Sickbay so she could be observed via biobed, and once her stable condition was confirmed the EMH would return to the shuttlebay where Savot had escorted Armus' return. Armus had indeed helped them in the attack but this was still the safest area in which to keep him and the doctor ran a full series of scans to ensure the entity suffered no prolonged ill effects from Raithas' assault.
With the power boosts from Armus, Mr. Fire restored normal ship's power quickly and whatever doors had not already been pried open by crewmembers were now powered and able to be opened normally at which point medical teams were dispersed throughout the ship to tend any injuries suffered during the pirate attack. A few hours later the main viewscreen of the El Salvador bridge was greeted by the sight of the Cardassian-built space station Deep Space Nine, Starfleet supervised outpost and guardian of the Bajoran Wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant, where Lieutenant James Fire departed for another assignment after an exchange of goodbyes and shipmates' expressed relief at his return from alleged death.

After being rescued from the private quarters of Commander Hope and her family, Daen learned that his traveling partner had been severely injured and was recovering in sickbay. Bidding his goodbyes to the family, thanking them for their hospitality, the Founder hurried away, then transformed to get to sickbay even faster by just sliding there. Once he reached the medical facility, he reformed and approached the bed. Carefully, he reached to touch her hand, but kept his form solid, refusing a merge for now. "Lynn," he whispered, "Lynn can you hear me?"
Lynn had survived her duel with the rogue changeling Raithas, much to her own surprise, but as a result a part of Raithas had permanently merged with her allowing her to feel the depths of hate and abandonment that had motivated the rogue's attack. That combined with the usual rigors of shapechanging during the bout had left her exhausted but she was conscious enough to hear the words of her fellow shapeshifter and her eyes opened slowly, "Daen... you are well. And your colleague?"
Daen smiled worriedly, squeezing her hand. “I didn't get much of what transpired. Doctor Hope had a shout at his wife, something called being jealous. I don't understand Human emotions though. I had to return to our natural state for a while, and this little girl offered me a bowl to hibernate in for a few hours. I fear I wasn't of much help to them after they were locked into their quarters, I was in no condition to help.”
He paused. “How do you feel?”
She returned the hand squeeze to reassure him, "Weary, both inside and out, but I expect I will be fine in time." She then smiled wearily at his summary, "I believe children are the solids I like best; though I've developed a new respect for the difference between the solids we rightly fear and those who seek to act nobly... the latter of which comprises your colleague and her shipmates I believe.”
A spark seemed to drive away some of the weariness and she turned to look at Daen with sad eyes, "It was one of the Hundred, Daen. The attack was meant to give him the opportunity to merge with Armus just as we intended with the Link, but in order to control his destructive powers rather than neutralize them. He was brutalized by those who found him among the stars and harbored a great hatred for us since the Link sent him to that fate."
“Does he still live?” Daen asked, a frown of worry rippling across his otherwise smooth features, “is there hope for him to recover and be cured from his hate?” The younger Founder sighed, seating himself beside the bed. “What about Armus? Was he attacked as well? The captain of this vessel? How many were injured, beside yourself?”
A smile of genuine warmth crossed Lynn's features at the barrage of questions from her young companion, but faded as she had to begin with the most unpleasant of them, "To my deep regret, in my efforts to purge him from Armus only a part survived and that seems to have been permanently merged with my own being. I had intended for it to transpire in the opposite manner, my own death with Raithas absorbing my knowledge of the Link and learning our intention had never been for the Hundred to suffer. But as I gained 'ground' so to speak Armus used his regained powers to aid me. The crew of this vessel were not harmed by Raithas after forcefully merging with Armus but I do not know how many fell to the pirates who accompanied him. The Vulcan captain is well... but our fellow Changelings were all destroyed as Raithas' first act upon merging with Armus." She ended with a moment of silent sorrow over the Changelings' highest law being broken, that of one changeling harming another.
A look of grief passed the younger being's features as he bowed his head in sorrow. “We'll return what knowledge we gained to the Link, to that we may prevent others from suffering,” he suggested, “the part of Raithas in you will be returned, so that his knowledge will not lost, and we can all learn from it.”
He paused, releasing her hand for a moment, then taking it again, turning liquid in offer. “I have something to share. The knowledge of jealousy and friendship,” he offered, “it was a unique experience though I believe the Human and I have an understanding now. I was never after his mate, I only wished to learn and I have. The woman consented of her own free will, and I may repeat the experience with him so that he knows and understands better. When you are well, we should speak with Armus and the captain, and discuss how to proceed from here.”
She nodded slowly, "That is my hope exactly, that the knowledge of Raithas' hate and abandonment will better equip the Link to help Armus deal with his own similar feelings." She then looked at the shimmering hand of Daen. Before this mission she had little desire to understand those things she saw as vulnerabilities within solid cultures, but knowing now that simple understanding had the potential to avoid immeasurable grief and tragedy she liquefied her own hand and accepted Daen's procured knowledge, her eyes closing for a moment as the sharing was made. Afterwards she opened her eyes, tilted her head in silent consideration of these things with her colleague, then nodded, "Yes, I shall be rested in a few of their hours and we shall all discuss what has happened." Normally all business she would have stopped there, but she turned back to her companion and gave another soft smile, "Thank you for looking in on me, Daen."
“It is my duty and privilege,” he answered quietly, releasing her hand. “I'll go report to the captain now and inform him of your recovery. I'm sure he'll be...pleased...to know.” He bowed and walked away, finding the captain soon enough. “Captain, may I have a word?”
Savot was indeed easy to find as he was entering sickbay to check on Lynn himself just as Daen was leaving from the same task. He gave a slight bow of his head in greeting, "Please, Mr. ...Daen I believe?" Savot had encountered all 5 liasons at some time or another but he'd had more contact with the other four thus far.
“Yes captain, I am Daen,” the younger Founder replied, pleased that he was remembered. “I am pleased to report that Lynn is recovering, and that not all of Raithas is lost. His knowledge will be returned with us to the Great Link as well as Armus. We have learned a great deal during our presence here, for which we thank you. It takes a great deal of trust from both sides, to accomplish what we have, and I'm pleased that we have managed to trust each other to some extend.”
The vulcan's face 'relaxed' ever so slightly at the positive news regarding Lynn's condition and he nodded his firm agreement, "Indeed we have gained much from your presence as well." His expression dampened almost imperceptibly again and his torso bent forward slightly in apology, "I sincerely regret the loss of your fellows; I grieve with thee. Though lives cannot be measured mathematically I hope the mission that cost their lives ends so as not to have wasted their sacrifice."
“We accept your offer of condoleance,” Daen replied softly, also for Lynn, “and any loss of life is one too many, no matter the outcome. I only hope we learn of it, for the sake of all our futures. How long until we reach the link captain?” He paused. “Captain, after we have returned Armus and Lynn...may I remain on board for a while longer? I believe there is still much to learn for us, and I would like to remain to strengthen the ties between our people.”
Savot looked upward for a heartbeat as he calculated their eta, "We will be stopped at our outpost Deep Space Nine which guards the wormhole for approximately 1 hour to turn over the pirates that were captured in the assault, then following our transition into the Gamma Quadrant I estimate 25.73 hours to reach your current homeworld." His eyebrow arched as he listened to Daen's request, "I will request permission from the admiral currently aboard, and assuming both he as the highest ranking Starfleet representative and your Great Link grant permission I am prepared to allow it, though I must inform you the vast majority of our missions share a similar level of risk as our current one and you could be in considerable danger."
Daen bowed again. “I am prepared to accept the risk, and follow whatever training you require for me follow to acquire the skill to properly defend myself and those around me. And I'll accept any measure you deem necessary to protect your crew.” He smiled. “I'll return to my assigned quarters now. Thank you captain, for your kindness and hospitality.”

The crisis over and death averted for not by any stretch of the imagination the first time of her life Stacey Jackson stepped off the auxiliary bridge as the gentle thud of the metal hitting medal sounded through the ship. The El Salvador was back in one piece affording Stacey a chance to let out a weary if not relieved sigh.
Not four steps put of the bridge and her mind already on a hot shower or possibly meal her name was called from behind.
“Commander Jackson.. I have preliminary damage reports for you Ma’am.”
The voice of a young man somewhat out of breath as he ran up to her.
Jackson grinned as she chided herself in her mind for thinking she could sneak off for even a second. Turning she smiled as she took the padd.
“Thank you crewman.. Go get something to eat, take a break, believe me a little more gold on the shoulder and those pleasures go out the window fast.” She gently patted him on the shoulder and for a brief moment envied him and his minor responsibilities. Before turning and facing reality.
** Sickbay **
Stepping through the main sickbay to find the Captain exactly where the computer told her he would be she offered a slight bow of her head and watched the changeling Daen leave she took a breath and said.
“His continued presence is going to ruffle some feathers, on this ship and in headquarters and no doubt the Great Link.. but it is a step in the right direction, for Starfleet and the Founders.”
Stepping slightly aside so that Captain Savot could make for the exit Stacey walked beside him and continued. “You know Captain right about now I would give my left leg to be given just a simple survey mission.. higher powers sure know we have earned it.”
Handing him the damage report Padd she was handed herself and had already read she said. “Considering what happened it could have been a whole lot worse.. A personal request Captain when we turn over our prisoners to Deep Space Nine I would like depart the ship while you make the final lap of our journey.. I have private matters that need attending to.. and I can be picked up on the way back.”

OOC: with ooc: discussion with Savot Stacey would have IC permission to leave ship hence my not waiting for his IC response
ON:
Jackson awoke in the unfamiliar room and it took her a brief moment to remember she was on Deep Space Nine. She had been given relatively large and prestigious room she supposed being a First officer of a ship it was standard for Deep Space Nine staff to do, that or they felt sorry for her in what was to come.
She had spent an hour getting ready making sure every hair was in place and her uniform was as creaseless and fresh looking as possible. Despite not having eaten in over twelve hours she couldn’t work up the appetite to eat nor think about it properly her mind racing about the meeting that was due to start in less than an hour.
She walked the hall of the station looking a little like a condemned prisoner walking to the gallows, she reached the door to a small meeting room and she took one last breath before she entered the room.
The table was rather large despite the size of the room and around it was seated three men, an Admiral and two captains she stepped inside and nodded her head politely before saying. “I trust I am not late Sirs.”
The Admiral sat on the left side of the table flanked by both Captains stood up and replied. “Commander Jackson, I am Admiral Bruce Jenkins to my right is Captain David Upton and to my left is Captain Jeffery Marks, please take a seat Commander.”
He motioned to the right side of the table a glass of water already placed out for her. She took a seat and placed her hands on the table and looked to the now seated Admiral. He looed at her for a moment before taking a breath and starting.
“Commander while it is Starfleet policy to let the Captain of a vessel have a certain amount of automity while choosing his or her Executive officer you appointment has raised eyebrows in headquarters,”
She straightened up a bit and had a rather stern look on her face. “How so Sir if I may ask.”
He crossed his arms and looked rather stern himself before replying. “Your age and Background Commander, it isn’t exactly the normal for most executive officers, Don’t get me wrong Commander you service to the Federation is commendable and you have a record to be envied but we are not sure it is one that qualifies you for First Officer.”
Feeling a little ganged up on Jackson took a sip of water as she looked into the eyes of the officers. “Well Admiral I fail to see the problem, I have spent twelve years as an instructor that alone I would think gives me the experience to be in a command position, I helped shape the education of people who themselves now Command Starships or questions the abilities of others to do so.”
Admiral Jenkins tensed up a little as he looked to his left. “Please Commander your presence here is not meant as an insult, we are only concerned for yourself and the crew, it is a sad fact that being in command of a Starship can be a dangerous bissunes and if Commodore Savot should be incapacitated we need to know you are the right person to take charge.”
Placing the glass down with a thud she looked him in the eye and replied. “I am and I have done so in the past successfully I might add.”
He nodded. “Yes I know we have the logs here, as well as the two complaints filed against you by the crew at the time under your command, while we here don’t question your actions we question the fact the crew didn’t trust you enough to take to the measure of filing complaint to headquarters.”
One very deep breath later in order to contain her anger Jackson replied. “they did so at my suggestion, I myself made sure the complaints were sent along with the ship reports, I felt if the crew knew I had no problem with them filing complaints against me at the time to Starfleet it would go along way to building that trust you speak of sir.”
Jackson leaned forward and glared a little as she added. “May I ask why this meeting is with me and not Commodore Savot sir.”
Jenkins merely shrugged. “Savot is not the one in question Commander, you are”
