"Four minutes ......""Rate of climb ?" Tan asked. "Still only ten meters per second Commander." Carron said from Tactical, "At this rate we will be at the point of no return long before we can reach orbit." "Increase our relative rate of climb." David ordered. "That is not recommended Commander." Zal'Nar said, thrusters are at one hundred fifteen percent at this point." "Three minutes ......""Bring thrusters to one thirty percent." Tan said. "Commander. I would not recom ......" Zal'Nar began, but Tan cut him off. "Your concerns are noted mister ... Now do as I request, or step aside to allow Lieutenant Bewick to carry out my orders !" For five long seconds the Vulcan locked eyes with Tan, but it was a 'no contest' situation. David was the Ranking Officer, and in Command. Zal'Nar could try to force his point, but the outcome would remain the same, so with a nod of acquiescence he entered the command. "Two minutes Commander ......" Carron reported. The whole tertiary section began to shudder as the shields pushed together. Almost two thousand megawatts of power trying to repel the same pushing back. The distance between hulls was now less than forty meters, and slowly, ever so slowly lessening. It would take less than a microsecond if the power fluctuated, to bring over one point eight million tonnes together in a collision that would result in their total destruction. "Rate of climb increasing Commander ... Five meters per second ... Looks like the primary section has found some power ... Ten meters per second ... Now fifteen and rising ... Could be home free here." Sandra said. Sixty seconds ......""Push thrusters to their limit !" Tan ordered, and this time there was no argument as Zal'Nar punched in the command. "We have fifteen seconds before power failure." Zal'Nar informed him almost casually, for a Vulcan. David took two steady breaths before speaking ... "Reduce thrust to nominal levels. Drop us away from the primary section. Increase forward thrust and take us into orbit ... 'IF' we have anything left to accomplish an orbit that is." he said, an almost apologetic grin forming as the shuddering subsided and finally ceased ... The primary and secondary sections of the Olympia were on their own now. He'd done all he could. It was down to the people on the two sections. He would attain a stable orbit and wait to see the outcome. He couldn't speak for the other sections, but he knew this portion of the Olympia was damaged. It was highly unlikely they could re-connect the three sections without extensive repair work, and may need to get back as three seperate sections flying in formation, but that didn't matter ... "We're in a standard orbit Commander." the helm Officer informed him. "Thank you." he said .......... OOC: On you guys n Gals from here

The navigation officer checked his instruments, turned in the direction of the command chair and said "Standard orbit achieved sir."
Commodore Smith glanced over in surprise, then sagged wearily into his chair. "Finally. Secure from red alert, bring all power levels down and start dispatching engineering teams to our most badly damaged sections. Power conservation protocol. I want the ship using the absolute minimum power until we can repair our subsystems."
There was a chorus of "Aye sirs" from around the bridge. Remar was about as happy as a Vulcan could be as he started ramping down energy usage through his console and releasing ship functions back to the computer or turning them off completely. As he was working, Smith said "Remar, you still have communications up?"
"Yes sir" the Vulcan replied. "I haven't had a chance to give it back to tactical."
"That's fine. Contact Commander Dobson and Commander Tan and initiate a three way subspace connection" the commodore ordered.
Remar quickly opened a channel to the Olympia secondary and tertiary hulls and said "Ready".
Smith straighted up and said "Olympia primary to Commander Dobson. Status report."
"Sir, we have retaken all sections of the primary hull. We have 34 prisoners, 21 of them are wounded. 9 were killed as we retook the ship. They are all presently being detained in Holodeck 7" Dobson said. "The ship itself is in pretty bad shape. The hijackers spent a lot of time trying to do manual reroutes around systems that Commander Rose had locked out. They did have some success, but mostly all they did was waste time and cause a lot of unnecessary damage" the commander reported. "The ship itself moves, but I wouldn't want to do anything more than fly it to the nearest spacedock. There's no telling what systems they've damaged or how, and I don't have enough manpower over here to check everything."
"What about our casualties?" Smith asked.
"4 dead, 25 wounded" Dobson said quietly. "They were waiting for us."
Smith sighed. Not good news, but about what he was expecting. "Commander, you don't feel that the Primary section is capable of re-integrating with Olympia Secondary and Tertiary?"
The doubt in Dobson voice was clear, even through subspace. "It possible sir, but I wouldn't want to risk it. We have no idea what the hijackers have been doing since they got here or what they've damaged. I doubt they know. I recommend that we delay rejoining the sections until after they have been through a thorough maintenance check."
"Very well Commander" Smith said. "Continue inspections and repair to your ship until further orders. Smith out. Commander Tan, status report please."

=^= What about our casualties ? =^= Tan heard Smith ask.
=^= 4 dead .. 25 wounded .. They were waiting for us =^=
David listened to the rest of the conversation, sad at the loss of members of their crew. It was always hard to loose people and David could see it was affecting everyone. Lieutenant Fire had done one hell of a job in regaining possession of the Primary Hull, as had all involved.
=^= Very well Commander .. Continue inspections and repair to your ship until further orders .. Smith out .. Commander Tan .. Status report please =^=
Tan gave a precise report, including the battle they had been forced to fight against Besak Gal.
=^= ..... Sir our forward docking clamps were damaged during the firing .. At this point there is no way we will be able to dock without repairs =^=
The two men discussed the repair schedule and time-frame needed. It was agreed Tan would send out engineers to take a closer look at the clamps in-situ to determine if a temporary repair could be done, or if the Tertiary Section would need to fly in formation until their return to Star base. Remar suggested maneuvering the Secondary Section below the Tertiary to survey the damage, which was agreed on.
There was noting else to be done at this point.
=^= I'll send a crew out now Commodore and relay their findings as soon as I have them .. Tan out =^=
He closed the Comm then turned to Zal'Nar.
"Get a team outside, let's take a look at those clamps. I would much rather arrive back in one piece, as would the Commodore I think."
"I'll go out myself Commander." Zal'Nar replied, heading for the turbo-lift.
~~~~~~~~~~
David watched as the hatch pivoted open. The view, from the dorsal camera gave an inaccurate picture as the hatch was on the bottom and therefore upside down in relation to the surrounding space. The six men exited the ship and began the walk to the first clamp. It was slow going due to the need for mag-boots, but they finally made it and Zal'Nar reported it could be repaired without too much effort. Leaving two men to begin work, the rest moved to the second clamp .. The Comm chirped to life.
=^= Commander .. The clamp seems to have received a direct phaser hit during our encounter .. It is fused to the surrounding bulkhead =^=
=^= Can we cut it away ? =^= Tan asked.
=^= We would need to loose a significant portion of the deck and superstructure .. I am afraid it would be impossible without dock facilities =^=
=^= There goes rejoining with the other sections .. OK .. Bring your men in .. No point in continuing repairs on the first clamp if we can't fix the second =^=
=^= We are returning now Commander .. Zal'Nar out =^=
"I'm surprised we got away without much more damage." Mike Carron said from Tactical. a comment Tan was in full agreement with.
"Sandra, open a channel to the Commodore."
"Channel open."
David updated the Commodore on their repair situation. Lieutenant Remar had moved the section to look at the damage and agreed it could not be fixed without the equipment in space-dock. Tan was told to await orders as Smith closed the Comm.
Tan sighed.
"OK everyone. Lets get teams working on the other repairs that need doing. No point in turning up in any worse state than need be." he said, pleased that everyone began to move instantly ..........
Lieutenant James Fire stood on the bridge at the engineering station listening to what Commander Dobson who was behind him was discussing with the other sections. His teams were busy making repairs throughout the ship. Having been injured by an ambush earlier his left shoulder was still covered in blood that had soaked through his uniform.
"Sir, we have retaken all sections of the primary hull. We have 34 prisoners, 21 of them are wounded. 9 were killed as we retook the ship. They are all presently being detained in Holodeck 7" Dobson said. "The ship itself is in pretty bad shape. "The ship itself moves, but I wouldn't want to do anything more than fly it to the nearest spacedock. There's no telling what systems they've damaged or how, and I don't have enough manpower over here to check everything."
He listened to what the commander was saying as he finished the report. Before the chief engineer would speak. "Commander I can give enough power to the engines, however this will take away from the weapons and the shields will be gone with the deflectors up." He said and turned again, "These guys did a lot of damage my team can make some amends but I am in total agreement with a spacedock."
Cadet Jedda Rose
Jedda was still on the bridge and had been quietly monitoring the sensors, feeding data to those who requested it and generally trying to avoid having the Commodore's eye fall on her. She had managed to only let out one un-officer-like 'eep' as things progressed. She didn't know how Crystal's nerves stood it if this was any sort of day to day occurance. Maybe she should try and avoid bridge duty...
The thought of her cousin made her wonder what was going on. Crystal was definitely on board but so far she had not returned to duty. That meant that there was something seriously wrong... Jedda desperately wanted to know how things were going but she knew she couldn't leave the bridge. She had a duty to do and that was what she was going to do. It's what Crystal would do, Jedda was sure of that.
Jedda had her back to the main view screen but this did not stop her catching glimpses of what was happening in the polished surround of her station. Her heart was in her throat, she wondered if they were all going to die. Her voice sounded alien and unnaturally calm as she read off numbers. If this was it...
"Impulse engines to full" Smith ordered. "Let's get out of here."
Jedda had never heard such a wonderful order, all three bits of the Olympia settled into orbit. It was then that she noticed the occasional flicker in the data that was scrolling across her station. The Primary section had had it's computer's slaved to the secondary section but it wasn't responding as it should. It was as if something was delaying it. Jedda wondered exactly how Crystal had locked out the primary section but off-hand couldn't think of a way that would result in bleed over....
******************************************************
Commander 1st Class Crystal Rose
No one had come to see Crystal in the past 10 minutes and she was now very bored. Her lifesigns had been completely stable in that time and she hadn't coughed once. In the end she sighed and walked out of the sickbay,
"I'll be on the bridge if anyone needs me." she said to one of the nurses as she left. She wondered what had been happening in her absence and hoped that no one else had been exposed to the poison, then again the chances of the captain sending anyone over to the primary section under these conditions was slim.
As soon as Crystal reached the bridge she took one look at the viewscreen and realised that she actually had no idea what the current conditions were.
.:.Secondary Section.:.
Ensign T'Pel stood next to one of the many consoles reading through the damage report as the ship made its crawl back towards the nearest starbase. She bit her bottom lip in thought, nearly every system had been severely damaged. Several power conduits around the bridge and the thrusters as well as the tractor beam had been completely blown out. That was just the section that she was on board. The communications system activated it was Lieutenant James Fire and Zal'Nar who were on the other portions of the ships. She sighed, "Hello sirs I'm assuming all damage has been assessed?"
Lieutenant James Fire looking through his viewscreen nodded grimly, "All assessed on my end."
Lieutenant Zal'Nar's face appeared as well, "Damage report assessed and sent."[/i]
T'Pel nodded, "All assessed here as well. It's pretty banged up isn't she?" The words didn't matter as each of the three engineering officers had sent their damage reports to the main section. The list was extensive all the sections had damage to their connecting clamps. However, as it appeared the section that Lieutenant Fire was on board had a clamp that was completely severed from the ship. "I am sending you the full report Lieutenant Fire."
James nodded as the full report came across on his console. He sighed heavily because his people would not be getting much of a break at the starbase not even himself. He nodded, "Try your best to repair the burnt out power relays and conduits throughout the ship. Send this report to the Commodore as well as the starbase that we are about to dock with.
T'Pel nodded, "Very well Ensign T'Pel out." She then turned her attention to the engineering staff that remained. "Can I please have everybody's attention?" Once they were all looking towards the young vulcan woman she looked between them, "I need teams to tend to the power conduits that have been blown out. If it's fused leave it we can't afford any injuries." She watched them exit before she turned towards the report that was still being finalized by the chief engineering officer...
========================================
.:.Primary Section.:.
James watched as the reports continued to scroll over his screen crews had been sent all over the ship in order to assess the damage of each section. He sighed there was no possible way for the Tetiary section to join with the other sections as their docking clamps were practically fused to the hull. The Primary Section was missing an entire clamp from during the battle between the two. Power conduits throughout the Primary and Secondary sections had been blown out or fused for one reason or another. Thrusters were burnt out on the Secondary Section, and to make matters worse the warp core itself sustained heavy damage.
The Primary section still had portions of the main computer locked out. He had been working hard to reconfigure the data, but it was nearly no use in some places. Because where Commander Rose had locked out the systems several had been damaged in the hijackers attempt to unlock them. The deflector dish and other arrays had been heavily damaged as well. He leaned forward in his chair they had a lot of work to do throughout the ship as the last of the maintence crews reported back he finished his report and sent it to Ensign T'Pel...
================================
.:.Secondary Section.:.
Ensign T'Pel watched as the report was sent back to her, and had been finalized with Lieutenant James Fire's signature on the bottom. She sent the report to Commodore Smith, and tapped her communicator, "Engineering to Commodore Smith the damage report is complete I am sending it to you now."
<tag Smith>
TO: Commodore Steven Smith CC: Commander 1C David Tan, Lieutenant Commander Dobson Subj: U.S.S. Olympia Damage Report
Commodore Steven Smith,
Primary Section
Computer Core itself is either heavily damaged or still locked out. Personnel information has missing information in places probably from when the hijackers tried to access the information. Crew logs intact and now unlocked. Mission logs still locked out appear to be undamaged. Docking Clamps are heavily damaged one of them is even completely severed. Deflector Dish damaged though slight. Throughout the section several power conduits are either burnt out or fused. Several doors have been fused closed, and the turbolift is heavily damaged.
Secondary Section
Warp Core itself is functioning, however several power conduits connecting to it have been burnt out or fused. One reverse thruster and two foreward thrusters are burnt out. Power cannot be transferred without draining vital systems. Docking clamps are undamaged. Several power conduits and relays located around the thrusters and warp core are burnt out. Helm response may be slow due to extensive damage to the power relays which some are fused.
Tetairy Section
Power conduits located around the section are burnt out or damaged. Decks 10-12 exposed to space. Shield power is slightly comprimised due to some damage. One phaser bank is heavily damaged. Forward Docking Clamps are fused to the superstructure. Aft Docking clamps are slightly degraded.
Respectfully,
Lieutenant James Fire Chief Engineering Officer U.S.S. Olympia
<Tag Stevens/Dobson/Tan>
OOC: I tried to make it somewhat extensive without putting out too much damage hope its okay. And, I hope my deck numbers are correct.
=/\= Engineering to Commodore Smith the damage report is complete I am sending it to you now. =/\=
=/\= Thank you Engineering, I have the data now. Commence work on the most major problems now, and leave the minor things until we get back to base. As long as we are able to move and go home, then do what you feel is best! Smith out. =/\=
Steve sighed. While there was a quite a bit of damage to all three sections of the Olympia, it was spread out. With the docking clamps so heavily damaged, there was no possibility of the Olympia returning home as one whole ship.
"Lt Remar, set a course for Starbase Conquerer and alert the other two sections and take us out of here at soon as everyone is ready. Best possible speed."
<Remar>
The Olympia would soon be heading home, in an arrowhead formation, and hopefully nothing would happen on the journey.
David watched the planet below as it slowly rotated. He was also watching the Secondary section, as if staring at it would make things happen quicker, 'or at all' he thought sarcastically.
"Sir ... Secondary section reports they are about to depart." Mike Carron said.
"At last." Tan replied, earning stares from the rest of the Bridge crew, "What are our orders ?"
"The Captain has issued orders to take up positions and leave orbit. The Secondary section is heading into open space now."
"Take up position above their port aft quarter." Tan said, watching the Primary section taking a similar position to starboard, "Keep us well clear of their shields."
He watched as the three sections adopted a simple 'arrow-head' formation then eased into open space.
"We're being asked if we are able to make warp five Commander." Sandra said.
David looked at Lieutenant Zal'Nar who nodded. She relayed their confirmation and then said they were to jump to warp immediately. Tan confirmed the order and the three sections simultaneously went to warp five ... Barring incidents, they would arrive at Star base forty seven in twenty four hours. David consciously un-crossed his fingers as the stars streamed past ...
They were going home ..........
Lt. Remar was trying to relax a little at his station after the trying circumstances over the past few days. His duties had contracted back to normal as the emergency eased and engineering teams around the ship started to repair the most important systems, and the computer could start taking on its' normal responsibilities.
The door to the turbolift slid open and Commander Rose stepped off. She appeared puzzled and slightly alarmed at the state of the bridge and crew, who were all nearing exhaustion after the ordeal. The Commodore had his eyes closed and his head down, and had for several minutes. Remar doubted strongly that he was sleeping, probably meditating and trying to clear the problems that they ship had just faced out of his system. The commander quietly walked over to the navigation officer. "Report, lieutenant" she said.
"Yes Sir" Remar replied. "Lt. Commander Dobson and his assault have successfully retaken the primary section of the Olympia. We have about 40 prisoners, who are being held on a holodeck in the primary section. Their assault resulted in 4 Starfleet dead and 25 wounded."
Remar continued. "The hijackers tried to hide the ship near Pelgram 4, but due to your security lockouts, they were unable to prevent the ship from gradually falling deeper into the planet's atmosphere. They did a lot of damage to the ships' systems trying to manually over ride the lockouts." Remar took a breath and went on. "By the time we found them the primary section was deep inside Pelgram 4s atmosphere and fighting a losing battle to keep from impacting the surface. The Commodore decided to take the secondary hull in as well and use it's power to try to keep the primary hull from crashing. However, the secondary hull couldn't handle the overload."
Remar thought for a second to try to remember what happened next. "Lt. Commander Dobson and an assault team beamed over to recover the primary section. They fought the hijackers throughout the ship to retake it. Lt. Fire beamed over as well with engineering teams to try to get the primary hull moving and take the stress off of the secondary hull. Unfortunately the plan wasn't working too well because of all the damage to the primary hull systems. It was about then that Commander Tan and the tertiary hull showed up. He brought the ship into Pelgram 4s atmosphere as well and used his ship to push the primary section out of danger. With the tertiary section taking part of the load, all sections of the Olympia made it out."
Remar took a breath. For all that they had been through, it seemed to take very little time to explain. "I have no idea what Commander Tan has been through with the tertiary section, but it has taken significant damage. I guess that's all that there is for now, Commander."
<Commander Rose>
Commander Rose turned and walked toward her chair beside the Commodore. Remar decided to run a diagnostic on his console when the heard the Commodore say "Lt. Remar, set a course for Starbase Conquerer and alert the other two sections and take us out of here at soon as everyone is ready. Best possible speed."
"Aye sir" Remar replied. He quickly calculated the shortest route to Starbase Conqueror, but then had no idea what the top speed of the Secondary section might be right now. "Remar to...Ensign T'Pal" he said, trying to remember the name of the Vulcan officer who had been assigned to take over for Lt. Fire in Engineering.
"T'Pal here. How can I be of assistance sir?" she replied.
"I'm setting a course for Starbase Conqueror and have been asked for best possible speed. How much can the warp engines give us right now?" the Vulcan asked.
T'Pal hesitated briefly before replying. "The warp engines themselves are in pretty good shape at present bridge. We didn't use them during our problems around Pelgram 4. I'm more worried about the warp core. It was running well past it's maximum output for an extended period of time. Until complete diagnostics can be run, I would recommend a speed no greater than warp 5."
"Warp 5 it is. Thank you Ensign" Remar said then closed the channel. Then another thought struck him and he opened a new channel. "Olympia Secondary to Primary and Tertiary. The Commodore has ordered best possible speed to Starbase Conqueror. What is the best possible speed for your sections?"
After a moment, both sections reported that Warp 5 was possible, and the three ships jumped to warp, Primary section on the starboard aft side, Tertiary Section port aft.
Remar sat back in his chair and kept an eye on his navigational sensors. There appeared to be nothing in their path for several light years and he hoped it stayed that way. This had been a long mission.
In fact he started feeling quite...invincible... flying at the head of the small fleet of Starfleet ships, until he took a long look at his console and all of the red lights that were still lit. Perhaps he should finish that diagnostic now.
.:.Secondary Section.:.
Ensign T'Pal as well as the other more senior engineers had all agreed, warp five was the best possible speed. She had a crew busy working on several key locations throughout their portion of the ship. While another team watched over the warp core making sure that she was stable. And, at this point she was hopefully it would last.
.:.Primary Section.:.
James sat in his office on board the primary section. At warp five they wouldn't make it to the Starbase for a few hours. However, he had his best working on the damaged ship. He was busy trying to access the Computer Core that Commander Rose had practically trashed. At this point he had unlocked more of it, but the damage by the hijackers to specific sections would have to be archived again once they reached the starbase.
He had also put in a request to Starfleet Command. Something he was still waiting to hear back from. Hopefully he would hear back soon. It seemed he was unable to sit in one place for very long however because he kept standing up and walking around his office anxious about a great many things. He missed Commodore Savot, but he was happy to be away from the dramatic things that were unfolding ever since Commander Jackson was promoted to first officer.
He liked her and all, and thought she was a very good officer, but things seemed to have spiraled out of control shortly after Colonel Runningwolf had left. He didn't want to deal with the past too much though, as he tapped his communicator, "Lieutenant James Fire to engineering status report?"
"The drive is working quite well sir. All sections are reporting the same thing."
James nodded to himself, "Thank you Lieutenant Fire out." He replied and sat down in his chair that was only the sixtieth time he had asked them he knew. But, he wanted regular reports even if it meant asking every five minutes. He sat down again finally another section unlocked. The personnel reports for Rear Admiral Steven Smith and all his logs both personal and as a commanding officer. He was pleased with himself as he began to work on the next task. Trying to recover some of the lost information.
The general feeling on the bridge was one of anticlimax. Seeing that the captain was otherwise occupied Crystal took a couple of steps towards the science console reading a few lines of screen over the officer's shoulder. She saw Jedda at the auxiliary sensor station but didn't disturb her. Instead, having given herself a small insight into the Olympia's current situation. The view of the other two sections on the view screen gave her further hints. She could tell that the primary section was at least partially under tow which was hardly a surprise given the amount of the computer she'd locked out. No doubt some of the lock-outs would have succumbed in the time she'd been gone but she'd have bet that most of them were still there.
Crystal walked round the bridge to in front of the Captain's chair. She clasped her hands behind her back and took a slow deep breath. "I can remove my computer lock-outs on the primary section pretty quickly but I'll need to get over there."
For the next twenty hours David hardly entered the Bridge. Their original destination, Star-base forty seven, had been changed to Conqueror, mainly because it he the facilities available.
He had thrown himself into the repairs needed. There were plenty of them. But he and Zal'Nar had spent the time removing all the internal fused bulkheads from the docking clamps. The destroyed clamp could now be dropped away from the hull with little work on the outer sections, making replacement easier, and more importantly, quicker. The Olympia wasn't being taken out of service during the re-fit and could be called upon at any time, so the less actual down-time the better.
Hanging upside down in the housing that held the retracted clamp, David was trying to burn away the last of the stanchion that had been welded to the clamp by the phaser hit when his Comm badge beeped .. Balancing the torch in one hand, he managed to reach the badge.
=^= Tan =^=
=^= Commander .. We are now two hours out from Conqueror .. The Secondary section has received approach instructions .. Commodore Smith is asking if we are ready =^=
=^= Tell him we are ready .. Make any adjustments to our position needed and contact Conquerors' Dock-master inform him he will need access to our underside =^=
=^= Already done Commander .. We're dropping behind the Secondary and Primary sections now to allow them to approach first =^=
=^= OK .. Thank you Mike .. Keep me informed on our progress =^=
He closed the Comm and with a nod to the Engineer, continued to burn away the inner hull. Minutes later he felt the tell-tale drop from warp. He tapped his Comm badge ...
=^= Tan to Bridge .. We've dropped from warp .. Is there a problem with the approach ? =^=
=^= No Commander .. The Commodore ordered we reduce speed to full impulse so Commander Rose can transfer from the secondary to the primary section .. She will need to remove the last of the lock-outs she put in place before Conqueror can take over guidance control for docking =^= Ensign Carron replied.
=^= Right .. We're almost done down here .. Give them plenty of room =^=
=^= Dropping away to one thousand kilometers =^= Sandra said.
David shrugged. Their arrival would be delayed slightly while the XO transfered. Wasn't a problem, it gave Zal'Nar and himself time to clear the area of the mass of twisted junk that was once the inner bulkhead of the docking clamp bay ..........
.:.Chief Engineer's Office.:.
James continued to pace the deck for a moment as he waited for the new round of attempts at the computer lockouts, he looked towards the bulkhead, he had been at it for hours by this point. And, he wasn't even halfway through because he couldn't concentrate long enough to unlock all the systems. Sure, he thought, I managed to get into the crew manifest, the data logs, and a few other files. But, the vast majority of it seems to still be either locked out or corrupted because the hi jackers tried to break in. For instance the mission logs with the exception of Rear Admiral Smith's logs were corrupted.
James tried to sit down watching his console eyeing it, begging it almost to hurry up. He was still uncertain what he would say the moment he saw Commander Crystal Rose. James never met her, but a vast majority of the engineering team, as well as other crewmembers said it was her doing. He stood up once more he thought he heard a change in the engines, he tapped his communicator, "Lieutenant James Fire to Ensign Akita why have we stopped?" He asked assuming that they had arrived to the starbase, but that wouldn't be the case. The reply came swiftly...
"Sir we have stopped so they can transfer Commander Crystal Rose to us so that she can assist in unlocking the computer core."
James winced, "Understood tell me when we've arrived to the starbase." He said. Then tapped his commbadge, "Lieutenant Fire to Transporter room one."
"Go ahead sir?"
James heard the voice and quickly replied, "Send Commander Rose to my office here in engineering please."
"Aye sir."
James heard the reply, "It involves the computer core, Fire out." He replied his voice seeming quite even as if he was hiding his true emotional status. The young engineering officer heard the other side go silent, and that was when he decided exactly what he would say as soon as she arrived...He would commend her for doing a damn good job in locking out the security protocols so much that even the chief engineering officer couldn't break through.
But, that of course was when he remembered something else, he had only been on board for so long. He didn't even give Steven his orders, and he hadn't retrieved all his security passcodes yet. He grinned widely, she still did a damn good job in the lock outs.
David backed out of the space he'd seemingly occupied for the last millennium.
He was black from head to foot and his Engineer was obviously finding it hard not to laugh at the situation. They had done all they could in preparation for docking, so he decided a shower, shave, and a clean uniform was called for. Leaving Zal'Nar and his team to move the equipment they had been using, he headed for his temporary quarters.
Command quarters on the tertiary section had a 'real' water shower as well as the standard sonic one. Tan chose the real thing and in minutes was figuratively congratulating himself on what he considered an excellent choice !
His relaxation was interrupted by a Comm ... Sticking his head out of the flow of steaming, soothing water he spoke.
=^= What ? =^=
=^= Commander .. Sorry to disturb you .. Conqueror's dock-master has requested we enter the internal docking area first to allow ease of access to our underside .. The Primary and Secondary sections will be brought in once we're docked =^= Mike said.
David wondered for a second 'why' he was being bothered about this. As far as he was concerned the dock-master had the final say, so they should just go ahead and allow it. But he knew protocol demanded he be informed, so with a sigh he replied.
=^= Move us within one hundred kilometers of the base .. They will take over remote docking from there .. Give the other sections a wide berth while they are transferring Commander Rose .. I'm finishing my shower .. So unless we crash let me get on with it OK Mister Carron =^=
There was a seconds hesitation then a reply.
=^= Aye Sir .. I'll inform you when docking is complete .. Bridge out =^=
Smiling David returned to his shower.
~~~~~~~~~~
Thirty minutes, and plenty wrinkled skin later, he was sat on his bed when he felt the tell-tale thud of docking umbilicals attaching. A second, then third bang told him the walk-way was now connected ... Before he could reach his Comm badge it beeped.
=^= Bridge to Commander Tan .. Dock-master reports we're on external power .. Lieutenant Zal'Nar is requesting permission to shut down the core =^=
=^= Granted .. Tell the dock-master I will report to him within the hour .. When do we expect the other sections ? =^=
=^= Two hours .. Dock personnel have sent worker-bee shuttles out to assess damage so they can assign appropriate bays =^=
=^= OK .. I'll be up there shortly .. Thank you Mike and well done .. Please pass that to everyone on my behalf =^=
=^= Will do Commander .. Bridge out =^= Carron replied.
Finishing toweling himself down, David picked out a fresh uniform and dressed. They were back home ..........

Lt. Remar finished running the scan on the navigation deflectors primary energy hub and examined the results. "I have completed the realignment" he reported. "Prepare to engage power through the primary hub."
Ensign Emple, a Bolian engineering tech out of sight on the far side of the hub, had been assigned to him to work on the primary hub and had been most unhelpful so far. "I'm telling you lieutenant, the hub is scanning exactly as it did when it failed the last time. We need to rerun the diagnostic from the primary waveguide conduits to the energy dampers to try to find where the energy drain is."
"There is no energy drain ensign" the Vulcan replied for the fourth time as he initiated the hubs start up sequence. "Power was being diverted through a secondary transfer coil to the main tractor beam interface. The extra power threw the conduits out of alignment. A problem that has now been repaired." Remar completed the sequence and the hub went smoothly from standby to active, sending power to the navigational deflector. He gave the systems a few seconds to make sure that it was working properly. From the far side of the hub, his sensitive Vulcan ears heard Emple mutter "Well, it looked like an energy drain."
Successfully fighting off irritation at the Bolian, Remar tapped his comm badge. "Bridge, the primary power relays for the main deflector have been restored. Please utilize them so that we can take the secondaries off line for repair."
"Acknowledged lieutenant" Fernan replied. Fernan was the Ops officer on duty at the moment. "Primary power relays engaged. Secondaries off line." the ops officer said. "Remar, we're preparing to dock at Starbase Conqueror. Report to the bridge."
"Acknowledged. Remar out." The navigation officer closed the channel to the bridge and stepped around the power hub. Ensign Emple was already starting to pull out the secondary power units and running the tricorder over them.
"Most of these will need to be replaced. They're still working, but the components have been heavily stressed, so the standard maintenance cycle is out the window. It's funny that they were the best we had available though" Emple said as he examined his tricorder.
Remar didn't find it nearly so amusing, even were it possible for him to do so. The components Emple was looking at had probably been within an hour or so of failure during the problems at Pelgram 4. If they had given out, there had been no other back ups.
The Vulcan turned his mind to other matters. They hadn't. The ship had survived, and that was all that mattered. "Ensign, continue to work on the secondary system. I have been ordered to the bridge."
"Yes sir" Emple replied, not looking up from his tricorder.
Remar stepped through the door of Deflector Control and headed to the nearest turbolift. It quickly carried him to the bridge and he reported to Commodore Smith, who nodded at him absently. Remar walked over to the Nav station and relieved Lt. Nilas, one of his assistants who quietly left the bridge and he sat down and checked the ship status. They were indeed closing on Starbase Conqueror, and fleet Olympia was spread out. He noted that the tertiary section was already inside. "They took the tertiary section first?" he asked Lt. Fernan.
"Yes, they wanted it in the main docking cradle due to the extensive hull damage. They are inspecting our exterior right now" he replied.
Remar took a look at his sensors. There were about a half dozen shuttles buzzing around the exteriors of the primary and secondary hulls, checking for damage. Finally the ship was hailed. "Dock master to Olympia secondary. Hull inspection complete, and it doesn't look too bad. However you have some serious component issues, according to Lt. Fire's report. Dock your ship in cradle J7."
"Confirmed" Lt Fernan replied.
The channel crackled again. "The primary section is another matter. It has some fairly serious hull damage and major component repair problems. Cradle J3, and it's coming in next."
There was a brief pause, then Commander Dobson, who was in command of the primary section, said "Acknowledge", and the primary section slowly made it's way inside the massive Starbase.
After several minutes, the dock master re-opened the channel and said "Ok, Olympia secondary, your turn. Stand by for link to automated docking system."
Remar tapped his comm panel. "Nav system on standby and awaiting your control input, Starbase."
The secondary section slowly started moving as the automated control moved them into position. The section entered the starbase and moved towards it's docking cradle. There was a series of booms and Fernan rattled off the steps of docking, until finally he said "Docking complete, clamps locked, umbilicials connected, warp core offline" and a collective sigh of relief gusted its' way through the bridge. They had made it.

James had been sitting idly in his office looking over the PADD from the damages on all the sections. The computer core was for the most part repaired. Then he heard a noise it was his communicator that was resting on his desk. The young engineering chief reached over and pressed it a bit too roughly, "Go ahead."
"Lieutenant we have docked, as have the Tetiary section and the Secondary sections. Worker bees are stationing themselves as we speak. Lieutenant Tusung would like a word sir."
James nodded, "Go ahead Lieutenant." Then he heard the vulcan's voice on his communicator as he continued to stand there idly.
"Lieutenant James Fire... We will be calling a staff meeting to begin the repairs. I am in charge of the repair teams assigned to the Olympia."
James disliked board meetings esspecially when it came to repairs, and overhauls and the like. "Understood Tusung I'm on my way."
.:.Starbase Conqueror Observation Lounge 1773.:.
James stepped inside followed by Lieutenant Victoire Davis a young Russian woman with long brown curled hair. And, shiny blue eyes. He noticed that they were with several other engineers who would be in charge of the effort to repair the ship. Lieutenant Zal'Nar was busy elsewhere. His assistant CEO was still on board the Tetairy section, and the two hadn't gotten the chance to meet. So he brought along the female Lieutenant who was going to be acting in the Gorn's favor for the moment.
James walked over and sat down at the table sitting at the head of the table was Lieutenant Tusung, vulcan as he had presumed. Hrm...It's like the Corps of Engineers all over again. A small smile split over his face as the thought crossed his mind. When Tusung nodded in the Lieutenant's direction he stood up. There was seven engineers in the room not counting James. This would be interesting, they did always say get two engineering chief's together and you get two different plans.
James brought the damage report, his report, on the main viewer. "Well the damage is extensive, and some of the minor repairs have been completed. The plan is to have two teams, one for the hull, and two for the inside portions of the ship. She's scarred, but I think we can make her shine once more." He replied grinning. "Questions?" He said placing his arms behind his back. And, here goes the debates...
Lieutenant Davis listened to the briefing, and personally liked what her counterpart had placed before them. It would be difficult, but she did have a question. "Sir, who will each team consist of?"
James heard the question from his own engineer, he had forgotten to include that one minor detail. "It will be a joint effort, myself and Lieutenant Tusung will have each portion of the repairs filled by the experts in their fields. For instance my team will be working on the warp core since that is my area of expertise." He fell silent again, seeing the Lieutenant was satisfied. With that he sat down and Lieutenant Tusung stood up.
The Vulcan stood before the group as the viewer changed to their battle plan foresay. "Each of you will be handed a datapad regarding the portion of the ship to be repaired. We will be saving the major portions of the hull for later. It'll take longer, so all of us will be working on it. The docking clamps will be completed while the remainder of the repairs are being completed. This ship needs to have hull plating placed in several areas, and that will take the longest.."
James listened to the monotone for a while, his thoughts mainly on the repair effort that was about to unfold. But, for some reason he couldn't help, but feel strained the next few days while crew was taking shore leave he would be tirelessly working to get this ship back to good order...

By the time Crystal made it back to her quarters and flopped on to her bed she almost wished she hadn't done as thorough a job locking out the Oly's computers. It had taken her four straight hours to undo her lock outs and then another hour to restore proper access. It had only occurred so quickly because the Olympia's engineering and ops staff were so good at their jobs. Still there was a lot of it that Crystal had had to do herself.
That work on top of the chemical abuse her body had taken earlier had left her really drained. She hadn't been hauled back to sickbay so apparently there were likely to be no further affects from the chemicals she'd inhaled. Right now she needed sleep.
Crystal pulled her boots off and shucked her jacket and with out more ado slumped forward on to her bed above the covers. She just about had the energy to mumble "computer, lights", and dimly wonder how long she would be allowed to rest for; before sleep claimed her.

He spent several hours looking over the external damage to the tertiary section with the maintenance crews that would be working on her. Once he had a full run-down of what needed to be done, he beamed over to the primary section ..
Entering the bridge for the first time in weeks, he could see it was almost crowded with 'base personnel.
"Commander. The Commodore is in his ready room." one of the technicians informed him. Thanking the woman he crossed the Bridge and activated the chime, then entered when the door opened. His boss was sat at his desk, a seemingly unending pile of PADD's piled on one edge.
"Welcome back David." the Commodore said, Tan took the offered hand before glancing at the pile.
Sitting he put his own PADD on the desk but didn't hand it to Steven. Smith had crossed to the replicator and now returned with a drink in each hand, passing one to David before he too sat. David's eyes were still on the small red leather box sat conspicuously in the middle of the desk top. Tan took a sip of the drink before casually motioning toward the box.
"For anyone I know ?" he asked.
Smith didn't answer, simply pushed the box toward Tan, then took a long drink from his own glass as David picked up the leather covered box and opened it. He glanced at his Commanding Officer, then down at the contents, before handing the box back.
"Congratulations ... Admiral." Tan said, raising his glass in the traditional toast. Almost reluctantly, Smith followed suit, the glasses made the usual crystaline chime as they touched.
"Thank you David."
"You didn't want the promotion ... It's well overdue in my opinion." Tan said, a slight frown forming for a second as he got the impression that the man sitting opposite him was almost non-committal on the subject of his elevation to Flag Officer, "You should put those on ......"
< tag : Steven, if you'd like to add anything >
Steven reluctantly, almost self-consciously, removed the Commodore rank insignia, then replaced them with ones denoting his new rank ... Snapping the leather box shut, he set it to one side before reaching over to take Tan's PADD. He read through the damage report and repair schedule before looking at his Second Officer.
"Ten days to replace the docking clamps ?" Smith asked.
"Yes. The housing's were fused to the clamp. As you can see we burned away everything we could, but that included internal and external super-structures. They will need to rebuild the clamp housings from scratch before install."
It took almost two hours to run through the report in detail, then Steven said he was needed on the base. Tan stood.
"Congratulations again Admiral ... Steven ... You deserve the promotion. You know that."
"Thanks David. See you later."
Leaving the ready room, Tan glanced back at the door as he entered the turbo-lift. Things just didn't feel the same somehow. Maybe it was the time he'd spent separated from the rest of the ship and his friends. He didn't know, but it was something that was going to be on his mind if he didn't keep busy. So he decided to forgo shore-leave and throw himself into assisting with the refit. He certainly didn't want to contemplate anything negative at the moment.
He left the primary section on foot and headed over to the dock-masters office. Requisitioning a vacant worker-bee shuttle, he headed out to look over the work being carried out ..........

.:.Main Engineering Secondary Section.:.
Lieutenant James Fire stood looking at his team standing next to the Warp Core, the system having just spent several hours cooling so that they could tear it apart. "Well lets begin disassembling it." He said as the crew walked behind the barrier, and began to take the components off so that they could disassemble the main portion of the core. The damage was worse then he had originally assessed, and it would take several days perhaps a week to make all the repairs and modifications that James had prepared.
The Lieutenant had graduated at the top of his class for both flight control and for many of his engineering classes. Including the dynamics of ship propulsion. After James had put in for transfer from the El'Salvador he had been offered positions at the San Fransisco Shipyards as well as Plantia Utopia to perform research for new propulsion techniques. His main area of expertise as an engineer. But, he desired to remain aboard starships for his career. And, he was very glad that he'd made that choice, because this was what he lived for. His team was busy in several places on all three sections. James had chose to stay on board the secondary section in order to begin work on the main warp core itself. While regular reports would be coming to him about the thrusters, and even the helm controls that were being worked on.
The engineer lifted one of the warp coils the entire thing was charred from where a portion had caught fire, then smothered itself. Many components looked like that, and he wanted to replace a good portion of the core itself, but with time restraints he wouldn't be able to.
=^=Lieutenant Fire this is Ensign Suung.=^=
James tapped his commbadge admist all the parts that were laying around him, "Go ahead Ensign."
=^=Several components in the helm control are burnt out. We may need to replace the whole board.=^=
James twisted his face in aspiration, "Aye Ensign make the order, and have somebody bring me the PADD I'll sign for it to be submitted."
=^=Understood Ensign Suung out.=^=
The damage was a lot worse then he'd thought...
.:.Tetairy Hull.:.
Lieutenant Zal'Nar groaned as he held the plasma cutter over the clamps. The housing had been fused so badly, and mangled that he couldn't tell where the housing began, and where the hull itself ended. Aside from that the clamp was pretty well destroyed, his face appeared strained as he looked up inside his EV suit. Movement inside the thing was near impossible for the Gorn officer. As he watched his team continue to cut away the clamps and their housing components. Suddenly his suits communicator beeped...
=^=Lieutenant, this is Ensign Akita. The Primary Section's dock clamps are fused so bad that I think we are removing the hull plates themselves.=^=
Zal'Nar grunted, "Damn.." He muttered under his breath, "Understood Ensign just get it the best you can I don't think anybody is having any luck with these things..."
=^=Understood.=^=
.:.Engineering Parts Construction Unit Three, Starbase Conqueror.:.
Lieutenant Commander William Cox held the order PADD in his hand as the many enlisted members of Unit Three's team were busy melding the housing units together. It would take them four days to rebuild the docking clamps for the work teams. And, that wasn't the worst part...It would take even longer for them to construct the hull plates that would be welded in place...
.:.Main Engineering, Secondary Section.:.
James put his electronic signature on the PADD and watched as the young crewman walked away. Then he returned to his work most of the warp core at this point had been disassembled and it only took four hours to complete. Regardless the burnt parts were laying in a pile of scrap to be melted down, and reused elsewhere. Sometimes I wish I would have taken that position to do research instead of this...But, then I wouldn't get to rebuild an entire warp core, and make modifications now would I... He smirked returning to the destruction that laid before him...

"After allowing part of my ship to get stolen, and nearly getting all three sections destroyed in the process, I certainly don't feel like I should be putting these on." Steve replied as he swapped the rank pips over.
- Steve and David converse for a while until David left to check in on the repairs. -
Steve sat alone in his ready room for a while, glad to be back at base and happy that the recent ordeal was finally over.
He made the short journey to his quarters and sat down on his bed. Steve looked over to Renora's cot and saw that she was sleeping. Happy that she didn't seem to be distressed by anything that had gone on, Steve laid down on the bed and entered into a long, well deserved sleep.
OOC: And that is it guys....I'm sorry its taken so long to wrap up. I will be making a shore leave thread on the Starbase shortly.
