Andae gripped hold of the piping tight, fearing that if he were to let go, it would mean his death. Little did he want to fall back into the black waters, to plunge into the darkness of it again, beneath the ripple and shimmer of its surface; it was not at all appealing. Desperately he held on to the black piping, it torn loose by his efforts to get the lower half of his body out of the splashing liquid.
He wasn't altogether sure how he'd got here, body braced against the smooth and hard surface of the curving wall, but he did remember thrashing in water, and reaching for some light source that illuminated its surface. His limbs had been limited in their movement, their motion dampened by the weight of the water around and above him. If he thought back further.. he remembered falling, hands outstretched to try to cease the drop - it in the end allowing him to break the surface of the water without injury. If he tried to imagine things even further back.... more falling, and a rail.
The promenade. On Starbase 47.
He pulled at the piping harder, trying to exert enough force so he could pull himself up on to the ledge above. Finally his voice let loose, his mind realising how this predicament had come about, and thus releasing the vice-like clamp that had forced his vocal chords into their desperate silence.
His haggard and cold face surveyed the place he was in: a roughly cylindrical tube, massively tall, bottomed with water and opening out on the top into a maintenance area. A bright white light shone high above, its source unclear but illuminating the whole place; the mini-waves of the water re-casting the light in mesmeric patterns on the steep walls.
He now remembered having managed to drag himself to the water's edge by the wall, and now here he was, freezing and soon to be dying, bruised and physically debilitated by his drugging on the promenade. His eyes shot wide with shock; Emily, what had happened to her?
Three hours later...
"We found him in one of the utility cylinders at the base's bottom-end. It's a good job we didn't cycle out the matter we had in there," the maintenance worker was saying, he and the Starfleet Lieutenant surveying the man's body and waiting for the medics and doctor to arrive.
"Why?" asked the Lieutenant, "What happens with the cycling?"
"We flush the disposed matter into space. This poor fellow would've gone with it."
Before the Lieutenant could reply the doctor and three attendant medics approached. The doctor was all smiles. "Thank you, gentlemen, I'll take it from here." The medics made their way the last few metres of the corridor towards them, and then in an instant they were brandishing phaser rifles of a sort! Green-blue bolts of plasmic energy shot from their rifles' muzzles and the Lieutenant and maintenance worker were shot down before they had a chance to react. Burnt holes thick with instantly cauterised blood filled their chests.
"Apologies," the doctor said, tilting his head thoughtfully at Commander Blakus and smiling. He knelt beside the unconscious Commander - whose uniform was heavy and damp and his face cold and blue - and drew a hypospray, while the 'medics' secured the junction. "OK, he's secure. Where's the nearest shuttlebay?"
Fifteen minutes later...
Next to the giant metallic frame of Starbase 47, the disguised and hidden shuttlecraft appeared as but a grain of dust as it parted from its huge mother craft. Carefully it twisted in space, firing rotational and translational thrusters, and then kicked in the main engines to carry the craft away from the base at unimaginable speeds. Andae Blakus, along with the last of the Qlani on Starbase 47, were gone.

Part of Blakus wanted to stay on the station for a while longer, to supervise the final disabling of it and to continue attending to the injured woman, but the greater part of him experienced a sudden urge to return to their vessel. Something made him fear for the Superior's life, or at least is well-being. And while concepts of fear and thoughts of preservation of one's contemporaries were near-foreign ideas to the Qlani, the individual warrior could not deny that he experienced them from time to time. It was the showing of these weaknesses that brought about one's downfall.
Being wary of some drastic action by Couak on Alemet, Blakus left the medics to their devices. Perhaps they could do something to help the woman, perhaps not. Either way, they were all soon about to leave...
As he entered the bridge, he saw Couak at the tactical station, speaking to his Superior,"Everyone has returned from the Medical station, Captain. We are clear to depart."
How dare he utter words to the Superior as if he were his own, Blakus thought bitterly.
He passed Couak on the way to the command seat, "Barely, Jamison, but yes, we are all back aboard," he fumed, continuing to eye Couak, showing no weakness in the resolve of his stare as he perched himself in the first officer's chair, and faced the large forward viewscreen.
From his safe monitoring position, Blakus was certain he espied doubt on Superior Alemet's face. When it was reported that they were all back aboard, they had excluded one person; the very person Alemet had shot.
"Superi - Captain; we shall resume our course?" he asked, probing his commanding officer for a reaction. Often when a person was jarred from their thoughts did they display the greatest change in their body language. Hence, if there was an instant shift in Torek's physical signals, then that would be very revealing.
Blakus wished to conceal such a change in his Superior for a time, try to hide it from Couak who would likely be ready to take prey. After all, he had served for so long under Alemet, and had time and time again seen him undertake the most brutal of actions; he had even built up a quite real sense of loyalty. However, if the events of the past few hours were to reveal a profound change in the Superior, then Blakus would regrettably be forced to take action. As such, he studied his CO closely as he replied.......

Alemet watched the view-screen intently. For no other reason than he might give away the minuscule doubt he was having at his previous actions. He could have chosen anyone on the massive ship, but he was convinced that Thazous had brought the one person 'close' to the man Torek. Part of him couldn't care lees about the female, but that was the problem, because part of him, however small, did care !
"Everyone has returned from the station, Captain." Couak informed their leader. "We are clear to depart."
Jamison looked pointedly at Blakus, who's stare in return would have frozen any other man in his tracks. But Couak wasn't any other man. He started down the man, waiting ... Blakus finally turned to his Superior.
"Superi ..... Captain ..... We shall resume our course ?"
"Yes." Alemet said after long long seconds. His eye's never leaving the screen and the image of the station close-by. He half listened to the orders to disengage the umbilicals, to thrusters being used to push the ship gently away and begin a lazy rotation to port. As the station moved out of visual range the Raven went to full impulse.
"Weapons armed Captain. Ready to fire."
"Fire ... Fire on what ?" Alemet asked, looking at Thazous. Who felt his blood freeze under the Superiors gaze.
"Wh ... Why ... The erm ... Sta ... Station Sup ... Captain." the man stuttered, visibly shaking now.
"You wish us to announce our location to the whole of the Federation." Alemet said seemingly pondering the idea, but his reply surprised everyone on the Bridge, no-one more than Thazous himself, "No. It may be a prudent move, but I think we will leave the station intact. After all, we have destroyed all their recording and tracking equipment. But well done on your forward thinking Follower. You will be ... Remembered."
Thazous, sweating profusely, thanked his Superior, and put his head down, hoping to become un-noticed, quickly ...
"Engage the warp engines. Alemet said, "Bring the ship to warp eight."
Blakus watched his Superior closely ... Jamison in turn, watched both men even closer .......... ooooo000ooooo Carl watched as the Medical Facility began to seemingly fill with Raven personnel. Even Tetsutarô was beginning to wonder if the entire crew were going to be here ..... Torek walked to a nearby Bio-bed and spoke to a still waking Jamison. "Sir's it seems all our Senior Staff are here." Will said. "Carl." the Admiral said. "This is a significant amount of your crew. If they're here, than who is running the Raven?" "Wait !" Will said as he snapped his head toward Tetsutarô. "What do you mean, who's running the Raven ?" then suddenly remembering who he was talking to, he added a respectful, "Sir ?" "It seems that your ship, Commander, has departed without your presence. I would like to find out the who, and the why." Carl had been looking round the large facility, scanning each bio-bed, and each person that had been brought in. It dawned on him that someone was missing. He grabbed a PADD and began scanning the list of personnel admitted ... There ! "Where's Commander Blakus ?" he said, then turned to an orderly, "Ensign. Commander Blakus, which room is he in ?" "I don't think we have a Blakus Commodore, let me check." the woman said, taking the PADD and moving away to speak to a Doctor. She returned moments later, with the Doctor, both with confused looks on their faces .. "Admiral, Commodore, I am Doctor Zel'Ni ... You were asking about a Commander Blakus yes." both men nodded, "I am afraid he was removed from this facility some time ago. He was being treated when a Doctor took over his care. Less than fifteen minutes later the Commander was released to the Doctor's care. According to the Medical records he was moving Commander Blakus for further treatment." "And you allowed this ?" Tetsutarô said. "Admiral, We are treating people here, with all due respect, the Doctor had all the required clearances and would not have been questioned, even by myself, if he had presented a diagnosis requiring a patient to be moved to a specialist center for treatment. And furthermore, I resent any impli ......" "Alright Doctor." Torek interruptedd, before the man dug 'too' deep a hole for himself, "We appreciate your candor. So is there any way of tracking the Commander, through treatment logs etcetera ?" without a word, Zel'Ni went to a large panel and imputed a patient query. Seconds later he turned to the two men waiting. "It seems the log ceases when the Commander left this facility. The last entry has the Doctor in question requesting directions to the nearest shuttle-bay !" Carl turened to Tetsutarô .. "Admiral ... Sato ... It is obvious my Exec' has been taken. I need a ship and I need it now." "Carl ......" Tetsutarô began, a pained look forming, "We are doing all we can ......" "Do I get a ship or do I look for one myself ... Admiral ?" Carl interupted, then when he received no reply, he continued, "Very well, then with your permission Admiral." Tetsutarô nodded silently. He knew full well that his Carl would move heaven and the stars to find his friend, and find the Raven. But his decision was made. Torek could not have a ship ! ... He placed a hand on his good friends' shoulder for a second, then without a word, left the Medical facility. It suddenly dawned on Carl ... He was on his own ! ..........

Thazous played his part of follower really well but Couak knew that he would be there should Couak need him. He stood at his tactical station beside his long time friend and watched Alemet and his First Chosen. At first, he was surprised at the decision to allow the station to stay intact but he did agree that it would be pointless to destroy it since all the records had been destroyed. Of course, there was the problem of the body that they had left aboard.
As the vessel leaped to warp eight, a light began to blink on Couaks' board.
"Captain. There is a small vessel 150,000 light years off of our port side." Couak said.
"Have the noticed us?" Alemet demanded.
"No. Their sensors don't seem to be as sophisticated as ours. At our speed, they will never be within range to spot us. We can actually exterminate them before we get within their sensor range."
Couak set his weapons as he waited for a reply from Alemet.

Will sat on the bio bed and took in every word between his Captain and the Admiral and he could not believe his ears. As Tetsutarô left the room, Will hopped off the bed and stepped to Toreks side.
"Did I understand that correct, sir? We're not getting a ship to go find Andae and the Raven? That can't be right. They have to let us in on the search. It's our ship."
While listening to his commanders response, Will also kept his eyes on the crew members that were in the room. Part of him was angry at himself. As CEO, it was his job to keep these people safe and he had failed. The wheels in his head were already turning in search of some sort of plan. If nothing else happened, he would be sure that he some how got a ship and found the Raven. He would find whoever had done this to his crew mates.
Torek began walking around sickbay and checking on his crew. Will could tell by the look on the Captains face that he too was already contemplating a plan of action. Will stepped over to the bed where his second in command was sitting up.
"How are you feeling, Delik?" he asked the young Lt.
"I'm fine, sir. A little dizzy but none the worse. Do we know what happened yet?"
"Last thing I remember is you returning to the security office with dinner. It's all pretty blank after that until I woke up here. You remember anything else?"
"No. I remember just like you do." answered Delik.
A few seconds later, Captain Torek made his way over to Deliks bed and inquired about his status. After Delik recalled his memory,will turned toward Torek.
"What about you, Captain. If whoever did this rendered us unconscious, they would have had to take you out as well. Where were you found? Can you remember anything?"

They had been underway for almost an hour when Alemet's Comm chimed ...
=^= Speak =^= he ordered.
=^= Su .. Captain ...... I am on deck deck eight as ordered .. I have a .. Child and young one here .. She insists she is the Daughter of the Engineer .. She has been refused permission to visit and demands to speak with you =^=
"It will be Vanessa and Bethan, Torek's child and companion." Alemet said, to the inquisitive look from Blakus, as the childrens names came to him, "Go down to deck eight. Reassure them that everything is OK, the one named Vanessa will be allowed to see her Fath ......"
"Why not just kill them both and be rid of the problem !" Blakus said, taking a shocked step back as Alemet almost leaped from the Command seat to confront him.
"WE ARE KILLERS OF CHILDREN NOW ?"
Alemet spat the words at his chosen, who's natural survival instinct almost had him reaching for his blade. But he held still as the Superior spoke again, very quietly, but weighed with dark dark menace ...
"Go down to deck eight. You will be courteous, polite, humorous, whatever it takes to coax those children back to my, Torek's, quarters. Heed me. Do not let me need to raise my voice again, and be sure, your LIFE is dependent on the well-being of those children."
Alemet didn't wait for a reply from the man, he simply sat down knowing he would be out of his sight by the time he looked up. A wry, but nervous grin formed as he heard his chosen entering the turbo-lift in seething silence.
Couak, like everyone on the Bridge had witnessed the exchange in total silence. Even now, none dared speak, but he needed to.
"Captain. There is a small vessel, one hundred fifty thousand light years off of our port side." he said.
"Have the noticed us ?" Alemet demanded.
"No. Their sensors don't seem to be as sophisticated as ours. At our speed, they will never be within range to spot us. We can actually exterminate them before we get within their sensor range."
Couak set his weapons as he waited for a reply from Alemet ......
"Put the vessel on screen." Alemet demanded, then studied the image closely. It was a passenger transport. One of the many that traveled from the inner colonies to the new settlements and back. A totally Innocent, harmless vessel in Alemet / Torek's mind, "Alter course so we are sure to remain un-detected." he ordered.
"I beg forgiveness from my most Superior ..." Couak said, somehow finding the courage, "But should we not destr ......"
"DO I NEED ... To explain EVERY order I give." Alemet screamed, in rage, but more so frustration, "Change our course or I will kill you where you sta ......"
The blade was cold as it entered his back. Cutting through the latissimus dorsi muscle effortlessly, before entering the left atrium of the heart, severing the aorta and right atrium before the tip ended it's journey within the vina cava. The blade was turned slowly through ninety degrees, ensuring a thankfully quick death ... Alemet staggered back at the assault, trying to grasp at the hand holding the weapon he knew had ended his life. But he, or this body, was too weak from the sudden massive interior blood loss. He began to lift his head to see into the eyes of his assailant ...
'This is our way. But to be killed in so cowardly a manner, was not honorable' he thought, as the blade was withdrawn. Alemet had no time to debate the issue as his lifeless body collapsed to the deck.
For the second time in minutes, the Bridge was totally silent ! ..........< tag : Will > ...

Couak spun to face the rest of the bridge crew after withdrawing his blade from Alemets back.
"Does anyone else wish to defy the ways of the Qlani?" he asked in a murderous tone. "Speak now or accept me as your new Superior." he added.
When no one challenged him, he stepped toward the command chair.
"Very well." he said as he sat. "Thazous. Send the coordinates of the other vessel to the conn. Bring us on an intercept course and destroy them."
"Yes Captain." answered Thazous before stepping down to be by Couaks side. "And what of the First Chosen?" he asked.
"If he doesn't see things our way, than feel free to become my new First." replied Couak. "In the meantime, leave him where he is. Let him play nursemaid to the prisoners."
"Sir. Coming within range of the other ship." said the conn officer.
"Good. Thazous, destroy the vessel and the crew but do not obliterate it. I want the wreckage found with evidence of Federation weaponry." ordered Couak.
"Yes, sir."
A few seconds later, phasers shot out from the Raven and struck their target. The ship, which had been identified as a civilian passenger ship, erupted, leaving chunks of debris floating in the dark cold vacuum of space.
"Nicely done, Thazous." commented Couak. "I see a bright future for you among the Qlani."
"Now have someone get this lump of caja off my bridge and resume our original course and mission. I want to reach Vamax quickly and get this assignment over and behind us."
Two Qlani came forward and lifted Alemets body and started for the lift. Just as they approached the doors parted, allowing Blakus to exit and giving him a full view of his former leaders body.

Blakus could not believe the actions of his commanding officer, or the lack thereof. It almost made him rebel right then and there, but with Couak being in such close proximity he decided it would be too much of a risk. Barely controlling his anger, he stepped into the turbolift, and rode it down to deck eight.
How was he supposed to defend his Superior, protect him from the predatory motions of Couak, when the man went out of his way to the ease the troubled minds of young children? Mixed emotions conflicted within him, anger with his Superior, desperation to stop Couak from taking action (a seeming inevitability now), and embarrassment at being ordered to perform such a task as this.
The children were standing by a junction in the corridor, a crossroads of four in the passageways of the Raven. One disguised Qlani officer stood by them, trying to coerce them in one direction while simultaneously waiting for the First Chosen to make his way over.
"Hello," he said, in the least gruffest and annoyed tone he could manage.
"Mr. Blakus," One of the children said, in an edge that was rather authoritarian, "We want to see the Captain." The girl folded her arms, stalwartly holding the Chosen's hard gaze.
He resisted the urge to rebuke this adolescent, for using such a tone with him. Instead he forced a smile, one that he imagined the real Blakus would use. "I'm afraid... Carl, is to busy to see you right now. He has a few problems that require his attention." He reached hands towards the children, nudging them in the back and pushing them in the direction of Alemet's quarters. "He'll be with you shortly."
Once the two of them had been dragged away with the junior Qlani, Blakus kicked the wall in frustration. He pivoted and made a fast pace for the turbolift. Grumbling to himself, he ordered deck one and made his way back up.
An image of death confronted him as the doors parted. A Qlani, back soaked in freshly spilt blood, flopped to the floor in front of the lift, dropped by the two Qlani that had been carrying him. Blakus didn't need to turn the man over to know who it was; rather he stood in the turbolift entrance, stance straight with eyes surveying the lifeless Superior with cool detachment. But below the calm exterior, his mind wailed with the sheer dreadful inevitability of it all. Alemet was dead.
"Couak," he said, entering the bridge, "Why have you left this mess here? Surely he was dead as soon as I left the bridge?" He stepped forward to the command area, negotiating the sea of silence to come near to the first officer's chair, but not close enough to sit. Quickly he surveyed the bridge, taking in the faces and body-language of each warrior, trying to gauge how many were with him and not the former CTSO. He reckoned that at least half of them would support him in the power struggle.
The silence remained, until Blakus spoke again. "I see you've destroyed a ship," he observed, seeing the pieces of wreckage floating in mirroring silence on the viewscreen, "I assume you've been keeping the seat warm for me, Couak. I doubt you've forgotten what passed between us on the space station. Command is mine, not yours."
He drew a phaser, aiming surely at Couak's thorax, and watched in his periphery the movement of others around the bridge. It looked like Qlani from station to station were getting ready for a struggle, knowing that in a few moments time, they might very well be fighting each other for command of the ship.

As all the members of the bridge crew were Qlani, Couak saw no reason to continue the charade of being the Raven crew. Despite the phaser now pointed at him, he dawn his more sadistic smile, gave a throaty laugh and took a step toward the First Chosen before calling him by his given name.
"Malnar. Look around you. You should no that by me being Alemets second, I had the distinct honor of choosing the majority of this crew. Do you really think i would leave myself alone, unprotected and vulnerable? I can assure you that the majority of this crew is loyal to me. Including most of the ones that you believe still follow you."
Before Malnar could reply, Couak continued to speak.
"But that isn't the issue here. The issue now is who should be in charge. Let me ask you this. When you went down to attend to the problem down below, did you kill the trouble makers?"
<Tag Malnar>
"That's what I thought. But I don't really blame you. You were after all, Alemets puppet. And you would never have done anything to earn his disapproval. But he's gone now. And with him gone, you can now unleash that fire that I saw in your eyes when we had our altercation at the medical station. That was the fire of a true Qlani. And I have no problem following someone who believes in the Qlani way. Now let's finish this mission of deceit and destruction." Couak said as he took a step back to allow Malnar a clear path to the command seat.
As Malnar headed toward the chair, Couak quickly placed himself in front of him once again.
"But don't relax too much. At the first sign of weakness, your blood too shall stain my blade......my Superior."
With a slight bow at the waist, he removed himself from Malnars path and after Malnar took his seat, Couak lowered himself into the seat reserved for the First Chosen.

As he showered Carl ran over the conversation from the previous day ... "Admiral ... Sato ... It is obvious my Exec' has been taken. I need a ship and I need it now."
"Carl ......" Tetsutarô had begun, a pained look forming, "We are doing all we can ......"
"Do I get a ship or do I look for one myself ... Admiral ?" Carl had interrupted his friend, then when he received no reply, he had continued, "Very well, then with your permission Admiral ......"
It was then he knew that while Sato wouldn't, or couldn't help him, he wouldn't stand in Carl's way should he pursue other avenues to achieve his goal ... After dressing, taking a long look at the newly placed insignia, he left his quarters ... ~~~~~~~~~~The time showed at zero five forty three on the chronometer as he entered the sparsely manned Command Center. He didn't approach the reception area but headed straight for one of the office's. Only to be intercepted by a junior Officer. "Commodore. May I help you Sir ?" "Coffee. Black. Hot ... Two cups." Torek replied, continuing his drive to the ornate doors. With the minimal knock he entered without waiting for permission. "Good morning Carl." Tetsutarô said, a wry grin forming, "I trust you have frightened one of my adjutants into providing liquid refreshment appropriate to the time of day ?" "He offered." Carl said shrugging, before taking a seat opposite the Admiral, "I think I have been patient Admiral. So why has my ship been taken, why am I not leading the search to retrieve her, and ......" The door opened and a Lieutenant entered, tray in hand. Approaching the desk he placed a cup in front of each man seated, then took his leave. Tetsutarô pushed a PADD toward Carl, then began an abridged version. "The Balene ... Thats Kevin Norris' ship." Carl said, stunned. "Yes. I am afraid to say there was one hundred percent loss of life. We have just heard that a passenger transport has vanished without trace. Relay station two nine four has been boarded, reason logged was a medical emergency, phaser discharge trauma, life-threatening, or the station would not have allowed any docking. We have sent a ship to check on the status of the outpost, but we fear it too has been tampered with." Tetsutarô finished, lifting the hot coffee mug to his lips. Carl was shocked at what he was hearing, and more so what he was reading. The Raven had approximately three hundred personnel on board during her 'down-time' as most Officers, Civilians, Scientific personnel would be on the base itself. But, many of those remaining aboard would be duty Officers, re-fit crew, civilians, or ..... Family members ! "My Exec' ?" Carl asked, trying unsuccessfully to block out the fact Galla, Bethan and Vanessa were on-board. "We are still investigating Commander Blakus' departure from the station." "You can't believe he had something to do wi ......" Carl began, his voice rising with every word. "We are ... LOOKING INTO IT ... Commodore !" Sato said, his tone indicating the topic was now closed, then in a more subdued voice, "The remainder of your crew will be discharged today. They have been told to remain on the station pending further instructions. I think you should talk with them my friend. You know you are too close to this situation to be allowed to pursue the Raven yourself, but ... Am I right in thinking that there are 'people' here that owe you a personal favor of two ?" Tetsutarô let the sentence hang in the air, hoping, knowing, that his friend would understand the obtuse reference. Carl drained his coffee then stood up. "Are you ever going to start coming to work at a more reasonable time Sato ?" he asked. "That would depend on your definition of 'reasonable' would it not ?" Tetsutarô replied, watching Torek leave, closing the door behind him, "God speed, my friend, God speed." he said quietly. ~~~~~~~~~~Riding the turbo-lift down, he pondered his limited options ... First. He needed crew. Not many, but some who would be willing to assist him. Second. He needed a ship. Nothing fancy, and certainly nothing Federation, as he wouldn't stand a chance of getting out of the space-doors with anything official. So, he needed to call in one of those 'favors' Sato vaguely referred to ..........

As soon as Will was released from sickbay, he set to work trying to get in touch with some of his contacts. He wanted to find out as much as he could about what had happened to him and the rest of the crew. And exactly what was going on with the Raven.
A couple of hours later, he found himself sitting in one of the restaurants on the Promenade deck awaiting an old "friend".

As the turbo-lift descended, he knew he could count on several of his Command staff, so he decided to tackle the second item on his list ... A ship ... He tapped his Comm badge, vaguely wondering what the man would make of his contact.
=^= Who wishes to speak ? =^=
=^= Grumpy as ever H'zul .. I need a favor .. I doubt you are going to agree to my request but be at the Ferengi establishment on the promenade in thirty minutes and we will see =^=
=^= What makes you think I am at your beck and call Captain =^=
=^= You owe me H'zul .. Lets not forget that =^=
He closed the Comm without waiting for a reply and exited the 'lift as the doors opened. There were several things he needed to do before meeting the Klingon. The less time he was confined to the station the better, as any trail was getting colder by the minute.
~~~~~~~~~~
Carl sat at the table and helped himself to a goblet of blood wine. He savored the taste for a moment before placing the drink on the table.
"Never going to taste like the original." he said casually.
"I see you have been promoted. An unusual system your 'Federation' has ..." H'zul said, taking a long drink before slamming the metallic goblet down, "...... BRING MORE ! ...... So you loose a ship and gain a promotion. Let me see, I am going to assume your need of this favor will be detrimental to me ?"
"I need your ship." Carl said, matter-of-factly, "Command won't allow me to go after the Raven. You have a vessel, in the loosest sense of the word, but a vessel all the same ... Ergo ..."
"The K'Talmk ..." the massive Klingon said, unable to stem the bout of laughter that escaped him, "Have you seem my so called 'vessel' recently, Commodore. It is a shell, I have almost no crew loyal to me. I am little more than a lame warrigul, destined for departure from this life !"
"Yes, well that, is all well and good H'zul, but for the moment can we climb out of your pit of remorse and discuss my request ?" Carl said, having heard the same argument from the Klingon warrior a thousand times over and knew it to be self-pity only, as H'zul was a well respected Klingon, he just 'chose' obscurity.
"It could be difficult." H'zul said, taking another long drink, "My ship is currently impounded, some technical infringement on the part of my 'former' Engineer. Who unknown to me attempted to bring an illegal substance aboard the station secreted in my manifolds !"
Torek was tiring of this conversation and of H'zul ... The man owed him not only his life, but that of his Daughter. He stood ...
"Have that rust-bucket ready for departure in twelve hours H'zul."
During the conversation, neither man had spoken to the third person at the table. She, in turn, had chosen to remain silent. Seething anger rolling across her face from the second Torek sat, to the moment he departed.
"Why do you allow anyone, let alone that 'human' to speak to you in such a manner Father. Cut the dogs throat and be done with his threats !"
H'zul placed a hand on his Daughters. A sense of gratitude, for her life, as well as a sense of disgust at being held to the man. But a vow was a vow ...
"Ready the ship S'vok." he said quietly.
"But Fath ......"
"Ready the ship ... NOW !" H'zul said, immediately regretting his raised voice. Klingon or not this was still his Daughter, "Please S'vok, I will pay this debt to 'Commodore' Torek, and once we are free of that debt I assure you, he will pay for holding me to it. He will pay greatly."
H'zul watched his Daughter leave, then crushed the metallic goblet in one hand ....
~~~~~~~~~~
Carl needed to see someone else, but that could wait. He was hungry. Making his way to O'Tooles, he went straight to the bar, he ordered his usual drink and a sandwich. Looking around the room he was a little surprised to see one of his crew. Picking up his glass he walked over ...
"Commander. Not disturbing you am I ?"
"No Capt ... Commodore. Just waiting for a friend of mine." Will replied, "Would you like to join me Sir ?"
"No, no thank you Will. I was only popping in for a quick bite to eat and a drink, but how are you feeling, I wasn't too sure when you would be out of the Medical Center ?"
"I'm OK thank you Sir ...... Sir ...... Any news on what happened to the Raven ?" his Tactical Officer asked.
"Nothing yet." Carl said, seeing someone approaching the table, "I would like to brief all my Senior Staff in my quarters at eleven hundred hours."
"Understood. I will see to it Sir." Will replied standing, and with a nod of appreciation, Carl returned to the bar, and his sandwich ..........

Will watched as his CO walked away and took a seat at another table. A few seconds later, the associate Will was waiting on walked up and took a seat.
"Will, my old friend. How are you?" asked Valinar.
Will had met the young Bajoran information trader about a dozen years ago while on leave on Bajor. The two young men just happened to have been enjoying their individual dinners in the same establishment when Valinar was approached by a few Teplan that looked to do him harm. Bored and eager for some excitement, Will stepped in to lend a hand when the Teplan began to drag Valinar out. Ever since than,the two had shared a bond and Will had called on his services quite a bit and he knew he wouldn't be disappointed this this time around either.
"My ships been taken. What can you tell me about it?" Will asked.
Valinar looked around nervously as if he were looking for someone. When he was satisfied that the coast was clear, he told Will everything he knew. It had only been a short time since it all happened so Will wasn't expecting too much. After all was said and done, they had a drink together and bid each other farewell. After Valinar left, Will stood and made his way over to Torek.
"Mind if I join you, sir?" he asked. "I've got some information about the Raven."
Carl motioned to the chair across from him and Will sat and got straight to business. He told his CO what little he had found out about the rumor being that the ship was going to be used to make it seem like the Federation had started a war.
"Sir. Carl. We have to get a ship. They can't leave us out of this search." Will said.

"Sir ... Carl ... We have to get a ship. They can't leave us out of this search." Will said. Torek was both surprised, yet at the same time pleased, that his Second Officer felt he could make their conversation personal. Will was, in Carl's mind ideal Exec' if not Command material, and hoped one day to see that happen. But before he could reply a shadow appeared on their table. Will saw who that shadow belonged to first, and was already on his feet when the man spoke .. "As you were Commander. If you would attend to the pleasantries, I am sure the Commodore would appreciate another cognac, I will have the same. Get one for yourself too, on my tab." Carl remained silent as Will headed for the bar and Sato took a seat. "Your idea, not going to happen my friend." he said, and before Carl could reply, the Admiral continued, "We have detained your 'associate' H'zul .... He has been uncommonly ill-mannered in regard to the search carried out on his vessel. Moaning about a possible charter, but alas, he or his death-trap of a ship will be confined to the Star base for the foreseeable future." Carl glanced at the bar. He could see Will watching them both, using common sense to remain out of the way. He looked at Tetsutarô. "Why are you and Drew SO adamant that I have be kept out of this search ... It is MY ship that has been taken for gods sake !" Sato remained silent for many many minutes, looking at his friend. Finally he came to the only decision possible. He needed to give up at least 'some' of the intelligence gleamed so far as pertaining to the Raven. But as he began to speak, Carl confirmed that he already knew the minor details. He was about to continue when Tetsutarô stood ... "Please do not make me feel the need to confine your movements Carl. I would be most unhappy to feel the need to do so. We are working on locating the Raven. When we have information relevant to that search I will inform you. Thank you for the drink Commodore." "I will be going after my ship Sato. If that requires me to resign my commission within Star Fleet, I will have to do so." Carl said. "That, while, regrettable, is your given prerogative Commodore ...." With that Sato left O'Tooles ... Carl was worried. H'zul was his only real chance, and now he had been confined for some obviously bogus contraband charges ... That, unfortunately, left him little choice. He would have to speak to S'vok. They needed to get her Father released, and the 'Free to Depart Port' status reinstated to the K'Talmk. Downing the remainder of his drink, Carl headed for the bar. "Problems ?" Will asked, handing him his drink. "Like you will never know Will ... Like you will never know." Carl answered, committing the ultimate sacrilege of downing the two hundred year old cognac in one ! .......... < tag : On the Raven >

((OOC: Firstly I would like to apologize for my absence but I am back. I am going to write a really long backpost then move on to my present post don't worry I won't make it where you have to back post ^~ After Alemet is dead of course.))
.:.Backpost.:.
Shooku awoke roughly he was still in his uniform and extremely tired, however being of a different race then most of the crew the medications that they had dosed him with didn't have a lot of affect. He remembered most of what had happened.
He had been on the turbolift on his way to eat with his wife when two large strange looking men attacked him. Shooku didn't quite remember it all, but his facial expression changed when he remembered his wife. She must be in grave danger and she was pregnant...
.:.Sickbay.:.
Shooku looked at the others keeping his mouth closed as each spoke he had been off the biobed refusing to lay on it. When Carl left he followed him, but remained a good distance away. Worry lined his face, though a junior officer walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Doctor.."
Shooku turned to the Ensign. "Yes?"
"Your out of uniform didn't they promote you to Lieutenant Junior Grade?"
He looked at this officer with a strange facial expression. "Um, yes thank you." He said shrugging the woman off. Making his way towards the promenade he needed a plan, and he needed one fast...
Tol'lia seen the message sitting behind the desk in his office. It seemed that Shooku had been promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. "Oh boy what an accomplishment." He sneered under his breath. He reached into the desk drawer digging around until he found what seemed to be the correct rank. But, he had grabbed the wrong pip it was solid not hollow. But, what did he care...
.:.Present.:.
Tol'lia sat quietly in the office of the sickbay on the Raven when after several moments of trying to remember whether it was in Shooku's records that Suru was pregnant. When he heard the doors open from inside the medical bay. He stood up quickly seeing two people holding Alemet's body. He grumbled a little bit walking around towards the biobed where they laid him.
"Oh hell what happened." He growled heavily.
"Couak stabbed him, I think it was because Couak felt that Alemet was getting soft."
"Alright get out of my medical bay NOW!" He shouted loudly and watched as the pair scurried away next he punched the commbadge extremely hard.
"Couak...Couak this is Tol'lia the doctor...How do you want me to dispose of Alemet's rotting corpse?"
<tag Couak>
Shooku walked stood staggering inside to find his new commanding officer and Commander Jamison standing there. He had recently slipped the hollowed pip on his collar learning that Captain Torek was now Commodore Torek made him somewhat happy. But, his pregnant wife was on board that ship. And no matter the cost he would get Suru back.
Ahlan walked over to the pair, "Sirs..." He said.
"Congratulations Commodore."
<tag Torek>
"Sir, I want to go after our ship...Suru..My wife is on board...She..We just found out before all this happened...She's three months pregnant." He mumbled though the words were quite clear as was the panic.
<tag Torek/Jamison>
"I will do whatever it takes to get her, our family, those crewmembers that are unaware back!" He stated with a slightly raised voice. The newly promoted doctor was in a foul mood it was quite clear. But, his desire to get his wife, and those on that ship back was extremely high as well...

"... Let me ask you this. When you went down to attend to the problem down below, did you kill the trouble makers?"
The former Second had a firm advantage, presenting a question to which Blakus had no suitable answer. This was bad enough by itself, but was made tenfold worse when coupled with Blakus's having to admit that Couak was no longer his subordinate - neither by disguise nor reality Instead they were on a level par, and he knew that Couak would also have to admit he didn't have full sway over the ship just yet. And despite the CTSO's brash confidence, there was every chance he might not keep command.
In his thoughts, Blakus had neglected to answer the question, which suited Couak just fine. The fiery Qlani proceeded to present him with a challenge, goading him into unleashing the same energy that had so enveloped him on the station, where Galla now lay left far behind in the wake of the Raven's flight. He stared at the command chair presented to him, searching in its soft curves the identification of his being. The unleashing of energy, granted to him by the seat of command that had so often eluded him in his long career. A career spent in the darkness cast by the shadow of the despotic Alemet.
Now that power could be his; only he knew if he wanted it. However, whether the exercising of that power would live up to Couak's expectations or not was unknown.
He tilted his head, a smile forming as he moved for the command seat, but Couak cut in. "But don't relax too much. At the first sign of weakness, your blood too shall stain my blade......my Superior."
"I will expect nothing less," he shot sideways to his new First Chosen. "Of course, your questioning of me demands that I in turn should dirty my blade." He dusted down his uniform jacket, already worn out by the action-packed previous few hours. He made a note to change it soon.
"Do not make a habit of questioning me so blatantly, First Chosen," he said grimly, "I know your designs and despite your claims of controlling this crew... well, allegiances are short and many among warriors, to quote an adage among our people."
With the surreptitiousness of a snake, the one whom was to some known as Malnar surveyed the bridge crew, seeing whom if any would meet eyes with him, and if they would hence swear silently their loyalty to he who was now Superior.

Blakus groped for a handhold in the darkness. Now that he was awake and indeed aware, he could question himself over the curiosity of his limbs and motor functions returning to action before his consciousness. His first real thought as he continued to scrabble around in the shadows, looking for some sort of purchase to prevent his fall to wherever it seemed gravity was wanting to pull him, was that of 'Not again'.
He forever seemed to be falling into pits, reemerging from the dreamy but barren abysses of sleep into a hellish blackness governed by fear and shadow. At least this time there was no drip of water, but on the other hand, there was no light and - as the minutes ticked by - no saving grace of fellow humans come to pluck him from danger either.
No, not this time. This time he was on a ship, the thrum of it all around him and under his feet told him this, and that meant he was no longer on the station, which also meant something had gone wrong between his bleary memories of rescue from the cylindrical waste unit and the damnable present.
More minutes ticked by, with the confused and hurting Blakus - for it felt like he'd dislocated a shoulder blade - lying there still in the dark, deep in thought and not wanting to move. As he saw it, both of them were of such a design to keep the pain at bay at least for the time-being. Luckily for him, the sound of a communicated voice scrambling to processed life gave him some place else to focus his attention. He listened intently, and was demoralised to find he had no universal translator anymore; the voice sounded like a garbled extreme version of Klingon, but with no recognisable phrases. After a few moments, he settled on the idea that he had no idea what race the voice belonged to.
Then shafts of light burst into his vision, blinding Blakus and causing him to gasp like one of the fabled vampiric species exposed to sudden sunlight. He squinted and shied from the hurtful illumination, turning his back, then felt solid hands with grips like iron lifting him from the floor.
So he was taken from the dark room of unknowable dimension, on a craft of angular form that darted between the stars, in distant shadow of the hijacked ship that held its commander. And Blakus, mirroring the confusion among the Qlani on how to proceed next in assisting the stolen Federation warship, stuttered in a daze through the grim corridors of an ill-kempt vessel, whose interior seemed to be suffering from a species that would neglect it in favour of something such as warfare.
Ten pairs of dark eyes set in grim snarling faces fell his way, as he was brought out into a larger room. "I'm glad you could come." The man whom had spoken at the centre of the cramped space twisted, and Blakus saw that unlike his colleagues, the man's eyes were a bright tint of green. He said, "Commander Blakus, we have a mission for you."
Mind soaked in confusion, Andae considered the man for a moment, before looking beyond him to the dark screen; it was punctuated by one single dot. A planet, he guessed.
[To be continued soon - promise]
"Couak...Couak this is Tol'lia the doctor...How do you want me to dispose of Alemet's rotting corpse?"
Blakus flashed an angered look at Couak - who was sitting apparently neutral in the XO's seat - while slamming the side-panel of his command chair. "I'll take this..." he grumbled, then began his comm reply, "Doctor, this is Alemet's First Chosen. I am in charge now. Dispose of Alemet's body in the morgue; I'll be there before long to deal with his remains in my own way. Oh and Doctor, maintain use of our Starfleet names regardless of who is in your presence. 'Commander Blakus' out."
<Tag Ahlan (Tol'lia)>
That last comment made him sound like a hypocrite, he knew, but Blakus was not one to care. Take advantage of every situation, no matter what personal viewpoint may apply to it. He perceived Couak's glare, quickly turning to confront it, "Have you a problem with my practice in disposing of bodies? Empty shells, good for nothing, unless you wish to keep what you have killed?"
<Tag Couak>
Brazen alarms sounded across the bridge, sweeping across and jumping from console to console and causing the bridge crew to leap into action.
"Report! What is it?" Blakus asked simply.
"There is an automated sensor array two million kilometres ahead and closing," the conn officer reported. What? Blakus thought. "It has transmitted our location to the nearest habitated Starbase by subspace," the controller continued calmly, "..But... I don't believe it has the necessary componentry to inform the Base of who we are."
"How has this happened?" Blakus nonetheless exploded. His breath came short as he tried to muster more words, and in a matter of moments he found himself exasperated beyond belief. "Couak! You are responsible for this." He flared, tearing his sight from one person to the next and no longer able to remain seated. He pointed an accusatory finger at the man posing as Will Jamison. "So... You thought you'd just blow up a ship while you took the ship on your quick joyride, without planning and analysing the course you planned to set us on?! What kind of Superior did you think you were?"
Subtly, Blakus readjusted his stance so that he could back up towards those he knew to be allies towards the port side of the bridge. Should a fight be imminent, he would be ready and with ample support.

Couak sat idly by as Blakus as he preferred to be called, carried on his conversation with the doctor.
"Have you a problem with my practice in disposing of bodies? Empty shells, good for nothing, unless you wish to keep what you have killed?"
"Do as you wish with him. He's of no use to me any longer." Couak answered.
Just than, an alarm started blaring and the report sent Blakus into another one of his fits.
"What kind of Superior did you think you were?"
"Like it matters what kind of signal it sends. He have one of the most highly technological star ships in the Federation. Let them send what or who they please. We can take them all out. It could only help us in our cause to start this war. The more we destroy, the better it will be." retorted Couak. He than began to bark orders.
"Helm bring us within weapons range quickly. Thazous. As soon as the sensor array is within range, destroy it!"
Without question, Thazous began setting the weapons. The helmsman paused and looked at Blakus for an confirmation of the orders. This was not lost on Couak.
"You dare hesitate to carry out my orders?" he shouted at the young Qlani manning the helm position as he took several steps toward him. He reached for his blade as he continued shouting. "If you wish to see your next birth cycle, I suggest you learn your place."
********************************* *Back at the starbase*
"Don't worry, Lt." Jamison said to the new arrival. "The Capt....I mean Commodore has been talking to the base commander. We should have a ship shortly. Isn't that right, sir?" he asked as he turned back to Torek.
Torek stood there for a brief moment looking as if were lost in his own thoughts.
"Sir?" Will urged. "They are gonna give us a vessel, right? They have to let us go after the Raven."

"Sir, I want to go after our ship ... Suru ... My wife, is on board ... She ... We just found out before all this happened ... She's three months pregnant." Shooku mumbled, though the words were quite clear as was the panic.
"Don't worry Lieutenant." Jamison said to the new arrival. "The Capt .... I mean Commodore, has been talking to the base Commander. We should have a ship shortly. Isn't that right, Sir?" he asked.
Torek stood there for a brief moment looking as if were lost in his own thoughts.
"Sir ?" Will urged, Shooku looking on in silence, "They 'are' going to give us a vessel. They have to let us go after the Raven ?"
Carl looked at the man in blue as if it was the first time he'd seen him, then seemed to snap out of the reverie he'd fallen into. He knew his new Medical Chief was married, he honestly hadn't had time to look over his documentation yet, as his Exec' had done the formalities.
"Lieutenant ..." he said, addressing the young man before him, "We'll get a vessel. I'm certain your wife won't come to any harm. Whatever the Raven has been taken for, it isn't going to be the personnel. Your wife should be safe and well." he finished, thoughts of Galla, Bethan, and Vanessa leaping to the forefront of his thoughts.
"There's something available Sir ?" Will asked, already knowing there wasn't.
"I'm in the middle of getting us a ship Commander." Carl said to Will, hoping his Security Officer wouldn't press him on the statement, before he turned to his Doctor, "I'm assuming that the Medical Center has released you as fit for duty Lieutenant. I would like you to get back there and ensure the remainder of our crew are processed and released. If any require long term treatment I'll leave that to you and the base Med' Staff." Carl finished, waiting while the Doctor stood, then with a respectful nod, moved away.
"Sir ...... A ship ?" Jamison said quietly.
Carl lifted his empty glass, knowing he was being watched from the bar and raised two fingers, then turned to his Security Officer.
"Tetsutarô is not going to give us a ship." Will was about to speak, but a raised finger from Torek forced him to hold his silence as the Steward picked up the empty glasses and replaced them with full ones, "Admirals compliments Steward, he wants these added to his bar bill."
"No problem Commodore." the man said without breaking stride."
Carl picked up his drink and took a respectful sip. He needed to tell Will about the K'talmk ... Because he somehow felt they would be 'borrowing' rather than being assigned, a ship ..........

The Doctor, or better Tol'lia heard the reply and shook his head angerily. "Understood Doctor Ahlan out!" He replied and looked towards the two nurses that had just walked in, "Take Captain Torek to the morgue." He watched as the two stunned females one a human the other a bolian looked at him. "NOW!" He raised his voice a little bit more.
With a pained flinch they did as ordered allowing Tol'lia the chance to return to the office for some peace of mind. He knew that soon, oh so very soon, he would become quite busy.
Given the current situation and the way she watched Shooku leave their quarters led Suru to become more suspicious of his actions. Quietly she stood up and made her way towards the corner bulkhead. She knew very little of Federation design for their warships, but she knew that in every set of quarters there was an access tunnel to the Jefferies tubes. And, right about now that was where she wanted to be.
Something just didn't sit right with her as she quietly closed her eyes in thought though unseeing she could feel. And, pale skinned woman found the entrance. Carefully she pulled away the bulkhead and crawled inside. Once there she closed the bulkhead behind her and turned preparing to crawl the very long route towards the entry shaft to get to engineering. She needed to do something...
"Don't worry, Lt." Jamison said to the new arrival. "The Capt....I mean Commodore has been talking to the base commander. We should have a ship shortly. Isn't that right, sir?" he asked as he turned back to Torek.

He listened to their words, it did little to bring him comfort or piece of mind. But, he nodded and listened to them speak. We must do something... He found his mind saying then suddenly there was a rush of anticipation. "Isn't there a ship docked somewhere?" He asked quietly of both Will and Carl. "During my time in the Imperial Guard on Andoria we were trained in the art of hijacking our own ships in case they were ever taken from us. I can apply the same methods upon another ship.." He whispered quite softly. It was true on Andoria all of his people joined the Guard out of honor.
If he could apply his training to this situation then surely he could have been some sort of use in getting his wife, and the countless others trapped on board knowing or unknowing of what was happening with the ship..

(ooc: Hey guys. Sorry for my absence as of late. Many factors are contributing to it but I hope to be around at least twice a week. What follows is a hell of a backpost but its what I have so far lol) Miesha's eyes fluttered open. The view in front of her was blurry and she could not clearly see anything. All she felt was pain throughout her body. It was flowing, stinging at all points. She then felt something cold rush into her neck. The pain began to subside. The flowing stopped and her vision started to return. The picture in front of her was bright. As her eyes began to focus, she saw a white light, a bright white light, illuminating her. As her vision returned, Miesha realized she was in a sickbay, though not one she recognized. As she attempted to get her bearings, the flowing and stinging pain returned. Her vision once again blurred, and she lost consciousness. ----------------- Having been on the bridge for quite some time, Lezari quietly minded her tasks. She was a relatively new member of the force and had known no other leader other than Alemet. He was inspirational, albeit ruthless and cunning. Lezari revered her superior with the utmost respect and loyalty. Lezari, barely serving for a full cycle, had proven herself to be an adaptive and resourceful Qlani. Alemet had taken an interest in her as she proved to be an asset to any of his recent situations. She was honored to be chosen for this mission and vowed to serve her superior to the fullest extent of her ability.
She had witnessed the destruction of the USS Baylene and knew it was necessary for the success of the mission. The Qlani were destined to be supreme and they would attain that goal by whatever means necessary. She remembered back when she first joined to the time when she was ordered to kill a prisoner captured in a raid on a Tvozi outpost. At first she hesitated, but from the guidance of Alemet, she carried out the order. Now, almost a cycle later, she barely blinked at the thought of taking another life for her cause. She was bound to the code and would not fall to the right or left.
A while later, Lezari found herself again on the bridge, watching the events transpire around her. They had gotten closer to an automated outpost that had already caught them on its sensors. If they didn't act, their position would be revealed and the mission would come to a disastrous end. Fortunately, Alemet had come up with a brilliant plan to gain access to the station's systems. He had brought a woman from the original crew and shot her with a phaser, critically wounding her. Lezari, slightly perturbed at the severity of Alemet's actions, quickly regained her composure and supported Alemet's actions. (ooc: much more is to come, but given my circumstances... well ya know how it goes. I'll get caught up asap

"Admirals compliments Steward, he wants these added to his bar bill."
"No problem Commodore." the man said without breaking stride."
Both men had been silent for moments when they were approached by an Andorian Officer.
"...... Isn't there a ship docked somewhere?" He quietly asked his superior Officers, "During my time in the Imperial Guard on Andoria we were trained in the art of hijacking our own ships in case they were ever taken from us. I can apply the same methods upon another ship.."
Carl was tempted to leave the reply to Will. He admired the mans initiative and need to do anything, legal or otherwise, to get to his wife, but there were limits, even if he himself was contemplating breaking the rules himself.
"Take a seat Lieutenant." Carl said, waving at the bar, "I fully understand your concerns, but we have a problem." he said, then remained silent while the steward took the Lieutenants' order and moved away, returning seconds later with a tall glass of a warm blue liquid.
"Command isn't going to gi ......" Carl began, noticing a Klingon woman entering the bar. She made her way to the table as if waters were parting for her, "Sub Commander S'vok, care to join us ?" She looked the Andorian at the table up and down, as if weighing up which knife would be best suited to ending the mans life. Then with what could be classed as a 'grin' she took the seat next to Ahlan. Their steward had obviously been given orders to concentrate his full attention on this table, as he arrived within seconds on the Klingon Officer.
"Commander ?" he asked, knowing he need say no more.
"Blood wine ... Bring a portion of Gagh too, and make sure it is live ... Your LIFE is dependent in it !" The steward nodded, a wry grin forming. Obviously a man unperturbed by the odd threat of death, "Torek ... You have yet to secure the release of my Father. You need our co-operation, but let H'zul rot in a Federation cell !"
Will had begun to stand at the insubordination from this woman, but at the slightest wave from Carl he had sat down. The Andorian was watching the proceedings with a sense of annoyance.
"He's hardly rotting." Carl said grinning openly, "Now, how long before the K'talmk can be ready for departure ?"
S'vok snatched the drink away from the steward, who calmly placed a tureen of live gagh in front of her before slipping away. She drank deep from the flagon before looking round the table. It was plainly obvious to Torek that she was embarrassed ... 'Or what passes as embarrassment for a Klingon' he thought.
"Our vessel is .... Inoperative." she finally said, pushing the gagh away in disgust, though more at her confession than the state of the untasted food, "We require anti-matter."
Carl's heart sank. If she had asked for a warp core it could have been done. But to say they have no anti-matter was a blow. It wasn't something you simply bought in the proverbial corner shop ... He tried not to show his disappointment at this bombshell, keeping his expression neutral.
"Well ......" he said, finally, "It's not exactly the sort of thing I can request from Command, now is it ...... So ...... Where do we get hold of some anti-matter ?"
His eye's fell on Shooku, who looked deep in thought ..........

Will sat at the table and listened to the exchange between his CO and the Klingon woman. It took him a moment to realize what was transpiring and when he did, he couldn't believe his ears. Was Torek actually suggesting that they use a Klingon ship to go after the Raven? And the K'talmk at that? As a CTSO, Will always made it his duty to read up on any vessel that was docked where ever the Raven ended up at and he knew the status of the K'talmk. It was better off being used as a mop bucket and he made his observations clear to his commanding officer.
"Sir. The K'talmk? It would be lucky to hold together being towed out of space dock." he said.
At this remark, the Klingon woman looked as if she were ready to tear his heart out.
"You dare make such remarks about my fathers vessel, targ?" she challenged.
"What? You said so yourself that it wasn't operable. It's in no condition to chase a federation starship."
Carl gave Will a look that wasn't lost on the security officer. He shut his mouth and continued with this drink as the Commodore and the Klingon continued their conversation. Will heard every word and was sitting by just as quite as the others after the conversation turned to anti matter and all eyes turned to the young Andorian doctor.

Shooku heard about the lack of anti-matter on board the Klingon ship. This made him think then suddenly he felt everybody’s eyes upon him. This made the Andorian look up towards the two humans and the Klingon woman. Must I do everything. He found himself thinking, but he was very desperate to get his wife back no matter the cost.
“Well I’m no engineer, but I remember hearing about the Enterprise Having her anti-matter containment pods drained. We are at a starbase, there are other federation ships here, but of course people who have the know how would have to do it. We can do this, and make it look like a simple error in their readouts. But, you’ll need some really bold and daring persons with the know how.”
He replied quietly so that only the three at the table could hear him. Every so often he would pause in his speech and look over his shoulder to make sure nobody was listening in. “Commodore, the transfer would not be difficult, and by the time the ship realized what had happened we’d be long gone. The only flaw is that obviously others at this station know that the ship is without antimatter. It would not take long for the Federation to figure out who took it with us missing and with all that antimatter missing…” His voice seemed to trail off as he began to reconsider what he’d even said.
There are too many variables in all of this. And, I am just a Doctor a really desperate Doctor with a lot of dangerous knowledge. But, even I do not know how to accomplish my goals. There has got to be someone on that ship with enough know how...Right? He thought this while awaiting a response from his Commanding Officer and his second exec.
Carefully the Aenarian woman crawled blindly, and yes literally blindly because she like most her race were blind. They relayed on their telepathic abilities, and high sense of touch to get around. The jefferies tube was long, and she had to stop multiple times, but eventually she made it. Though slightly winded.
Suru felt around until she found a large bundle of optical wiring. She closed her unseeing eyes in a small hope that the wiring would cause some form of damage. But, nothing to severe like loss of life support. She dug around in her pocket drawing a small cutter. Carefully she sliced it over the optical cables. Though she didn't see it there was a rather large spark her hand took a small singe, but the burn was minor.
.:.USS Raven; Bridge.:.
Bendai operated the helm quietly after all that had just transpired on the bridge he didn't want to say a word, not wishing to become Couak's next victim himself. His loyality laying with the highest bidder which at this point was Couak. But, that could change at any moment. But, this silence was cut short a little sooner then he would have liked.
One second his helm was lit up and operational the next second the entire left portion was black. As if something had cut it's power source. Granted he could still control the ship's warp and impulse activation and his pitch was there. But the ability to use yaw or even operate the deflector dish was gone. No deflector dish meant they couldn't keep at warp for very long.
"First Chosen we have a problem." He grunted, "I've lost power to half the helm controls. I can still activate warp and impulse as well as using pitch and roll controls. But, my yaw control and deflector dish control mechinism are cut. I do not even know if the deflector dish is still even active." He started tapping hard on the blank portion of his helm control.

"...... The only flaw is that obviously others at this station know that the ship is without antimatter. It would not take long for the Federation to figure out who took it, especially with us, all that antimatter missing." Shooku said, his voice seemed to trail off as he began to reconsider what he’d even said.
Carl considered the idea. But decided it was too risky. The last thing he needed was the Federation hunting him down. He needed them going after the Raven. He picked up his glass, noticing it was almost empty. He drained the remaining liquid then sat deep in thought ......
It suddenly occurred to him that he knew how to get hold of what he needed. He told his companions that is was possible a former acquaintance of his might be able to furnish what they needed ... If the price was right.

Entering the bar, Torek scanned the tables. He was pleased to see it was the 'usual suspects' as far as regulars go. Moving to the bar he waited patiently until spotted. The Ferengi came sauntering toward the trio, all smiles ...
"Capta ..... Whoa ..... Whats that I see, a promotion no less. This calls for a round of drinks."
"Gentlemen." Carl said, "Meet Queel ... Ferengi trader, exporter, bar owner, and general frauder of all he comes into contact with."
"I resent that Commodore." the Ferengi said grinning, pouring three tall glasses of liquid, "So ... To what do I owe the dubious pleasure ?"
Carl liked the Ferengi, even though he had needed to confiscate a large amount of 'cargo' some time back, making Queel a wanted man for a while, at least by his dissatisfied customers. But as usual he talked, bartered, bribed, his way out of the trouble and opened up this bar. Even though Queel professed to be the proverbial model citizen, he knew the man was still in business, and now Carl needed his services ...
"I need something, and I'm certain you are the man I need to see to get it." Queel was in the middle of making an innocent inquiry about their drinks when Torek continued, "I need one point five, no two point five kilograms, lets air on the side of having more and not needing it ...."
"What ? ... What is it you think I can get for you ?" the Ferengi said impatiently.
".......... Antimatter .........."
Will and Shooku had been eying the bars' clientele, making sure no-one was eavesdropping on their conversation. But Queel's outburst got their full attention.
"ANTIMATTER ... ARE YOU SERI ......" Carl grabbed the Ferengi's coat with one hand, slamming his other over the mans mouth.
"Nothing to see here." Will said, raising his hands, then nodding as people returned to their conversations ...
"Now." Carl said, slowly releasing the Ferengi, "About our antimatter." ..........

"You dare hesitate to carry out my orders?! If you wish to see your next birth cycle, I suggest you learn you place."
"Helm, obey 'Commander Jamison's' order," Blakus said through gritted teeth. He'd managed to find himself back in the command chair, albeit with hands gripped bloodless on the handrails on either side. He was furious; leaning forward, eyes locked and in a mode of fire, readying themselves to erupt with Plinian-like intensity at the very next indiscretion from First Chosen Couak.
Just as the vessel's false commander sat intensely in the command chair, pitched forward like a potential killer, the Raven itself bore down on its new target. At warp speed it flew by the sensor array, depositing the energy of a phaser beam in the craft's metallic flank and bursting it apart all in much less than the space of a second.
"Couak.." Blakus whispered, leaning over so the false XO had his ear, "If you ever issue commands in my place again, regardless of whether you're simply upholding our Starfleet command hierarchical structure, I will have you executed."
It was not two minutes later that another problem arose.
"First Chosen we have a problem." He grunted, "I've lost power to half the helm controls. I can still activate warp and impulse as well as using pitch and roll controls. But, my yaw control and deflector dish control mechinism are cut. I do not even know if the deflector dish is still even active."
The new Superior sighed; it seemed to be one thing after the other so far, in this, his tenuously-held grip on command of the Raven. "Well you'll have to roll first before we execute any equivalent-yaw manouevures. I'm sure your piloting skills are up to that." He finished his retort, settling back into silence... And for a time he once more thought everything to be fine, before an inevitable reminder came, a mental knocking inside his head that was only accentuated in its potential consequences by the other members of the 'Chosen cabal' present on the bridge.
"The deflector dish..." he mused, the volume of his speech rising from a murmur to a full-fledged shout, "Drop us out of warp!!"
Helmsman Bendai - Blakus did not know his false human name - responded immediately, his hands momentarily dancing across the sable display of the conn and bringing the ship's speed below c. Raven underwent the immense deceleration, her physical body retracting and then popping back to proper dimension after the conversion to sublight.
The recently appointed Superior thanked whatever powers existed for him as it became apparent that the ship had not suffered some mass catastrophe from an asteroid collision, or the like. The deflector dish - as it turned out - was indeed broken.
He leant back over to Couak, wanting to resolve this problem quickly before any controversy could arise. "Take a team down to deflector shield control and the engine room; I want this problem fixed. Analyse the maintenance ports around engineering if you have to...." Blakus stood up, surveying the bridge. "I want this problem solved!"

He collapsed in his seat, then soon found himself wondering why he had got into this position. The dark of the viewscreen burnt his fiery retinas, or so he fancied, and he could not bear to have the sight any longer. No, rather now his eyes were drawn to the rear of the bridge - beyond the tactical rail to the science station, to a young Qlani that as far as he knew had only served under Alemet in her lifetime.
He was at her side, whispering. "Lezari, is it? No, do not worry," he threw, seeing the concern on her face, "I just need to know one thing... Whatever loyalty you held for Alemet, I shared. And now I ask that you follow me as you would've followed him, just as I would be doing now if he were still alive. When the time comes for me to end Couak's challenge, I would have you on my side."
