After a few days of travel, the USS Raven finally arrived back at Starbase Bellicose. Steve was in the Ready Room when the ship docked. He was looking out the viewport and reflecting back on the mission. He hoped that they would be sent out soon to find Admiral Mc....it wasnt right to just sit back.
He put the finishing touches to a ship-wide communique that he was writing, and sent it. The message read as follows:
=/\= All hands, this is Commander Smith. As we are now at the Starbase, until further notice I hereby grant you all shore-leave. Take the time to enjoy yourself, and I will see you back onboard soon to hopefully go after the Admiral. -Steve Smith- =/\=
He drank the last of his tea, put the cup down, and left the Ready Room for the comfort of his quarters.

OOC: The time line is going to be wrong, but it should only effect my character regarding his move towards the Raven. By the way it is a pleasure to be with you all.
IC:
Scene: USS Stryke, Traveling towards Starbase Bellicose.
He had not expected it, in fact he had thought it a practical joke on part of his friends on the Jefferson. But when Colonel Hrisvalar offered him a congratulations and a handshake he knew that the orders were real. Matt was perplexed at the move, there were many more experienced officers in the fleet, but they had chosen him.
"Commander 1st Class Matthew Reynolds, I Admiral Jack Clark hereby transfer you to the USS Raven-A as Acting First Officer," Colonel Hrisvalar read out loud for everyone to hear. When he finished reading the orders a barrage of cheers and hugs followed.
That had been three weeks ago. The captain had given Matt the Stryke as a gift, but he had made sure to tell him that he wanted it back. It was now the 22nd day of Matt's trip to Bellicose, where he had time to reflect on his life. Caleb was saddened to leave the Jefferson. It had become his home, just like Matt's, but Matt knew that it was something else.
Caleb had only lived in two places, the Oceanus settlement and the Jefferson. Even though he would deny it, it was really hard for him. In the months that he was on the Jefferson he had made friends, something that was extremely difficult on the settlement.
"Approaching Starbase Bellicose, will reach destination in ten minutes."
"Computer hail the flight operator on Bellicose," Matt ordered as he tried to wake Caleb. If Caleb was not doing his homework or eating he was sleeping. Matt had never seen him sleep so much, but he knew that Caleb like was bored out of his mind.
"This is Master Flight Operator Richards, please identify yourself," MFO Richards said.
"This is the USS Stryke and I'm Commander 1st Class Matt Reynolds," Matt said," I have been transferred to the Raven and I'm going to wait for them."
"The Raven, they just arrived a few hours ago," MFO Richards said," no matter, Stryke you are cleared dock, please follow these instructions into Docking Bay 2."
"Understood, Stryke out," Matt said waiting for the instructions to come in.
"Wow this base is big," Caleb said finally waking up.
"Yeah, though I don't know if its bigger than Assailant," Matt said as he maneuvered the small ship into the docking bay. It took him a few more minutes to power everything down and when it was done. He took his son's hand and headed towards the Raven.
Scene: Bridge, Deck 1, USS Raven-A
As Matt made his way towards the bridge, he couldn't help, but notice the looks he was getting from members of the crew. Most of them were of surprise or wonder. Most people didn't see 22 year olds with eight year old children.
Once he reached the bridge it was much worse. There were very few people on the bridge and they were all gawking at Matt and Caleb.
"Sir, who are you and what are you doing on the bridge?" a Lt. asked. Matt was a bit peeved at his attitude, but accepted ed that he was the new person.
"I'm the temporary First Officer," Matt said," and you might you be?"
"Uhm..uhm....I....I'm....Lt. Stark," the Lt. said his face drained of all color.
"Well Lt. Stark, can you please tell me where the Captain is?" Matt said really enjoying himself now.
"Sir, the Captain is in his quarters," Lt. Stark said," if you want I will inform him that you have arrived."
"There is no need, I will go introduce myself," Matt said as he headed towards the turbolift and waited for Caleb to enter.
"You didn't have to be mean with him, Matt," Caleb said," he was just doing his job."
"Hey, don't think I didn't hear you laugh," Matt said smiling as he exited the turbolift and went in search of the Captain's quarters. Once he found them he waited for a response.

This was the first time that Zoarial had actually been able to get to his quarters on the Bellicose. All his belongings were in the Raven's cargo bay, so before he left the Raven, he headed for the transporter chief.
"Good morning sir," the crewman said when Zoarial entered the room. "Where would you like to go?"
"I'm perfectly fine to walk myself," Zoarial snapped, "but I'm not going to carry around my trunk myself." He didn't know why he was so rude to the startled man behind the console, but somehow he didn't feel like being compasionate at the moment.
"Would you be so kind to transport my bags and crates to my quarters? If you are not able to locate them, there's surely someone from the starbase that can help you out" Zoarial said, while he knew that simply telling where to put his belongings would be only little effort.
Zoarial turned around and left the room and hoped that someone would bump into him to let him be agitated about that, but somehow everyone steered clear out of his way.
A man a little younger than Zoarial, dragging with him a child barely 10 years of age passed him as he left the Raven. Besides a formal greeting, Zoarial didn't really take much notice although the officer was his rank, he didn't know the guy and would probably never see him again. Perhaps someone from another ship who had some aquaintances on the Raven.
When he arrived at his quarters, Zoarial deeply regretted that he found his stuff standing against the opposite wall of his room and with a great sigh he sat down on the bed and started to unpack his bags.

Having arrived at the starbase with her luggage hopefully in her room, E’Liana clung on to her cat box and tried to be casual about the horrendous noises Lursa was making in protest to being placed in a small box.
As her cat kept hurling abuse at her – as E’Liana was sure that’s what she was doing – she decided against her planned detour and decided to go and visit Zoarial later.
Once in her room, she noticed that her bags were there and sighed at the task of having to unpack yet again. She put down the box and Lursa meowed once more. E’Liana opened the door to the cage and her cat came out carefully, weary of suddenly being set free. This, however, soon changed as soon as E’Liana began unpacking her bags and Lursa set it upon herself to see what was in them.
After finally finishing her unpacking and putting food down for her cat, she closed her last bag and put it under the bed.
She decided to change out of her uniform, changing into civilian Klingon clothes that she had only recently put into the wardrobe.
~Where has that cat gone now?~ She thought, looking at the suspiciously full bowl of food that had yet to be touched. She thought she heard a muffled yelp and gasped. She yanked the bag out from under the bed and opened it. Out sprang her cat. “What have I TOLD you about doing that?!” She shouted, agitated that Lursa was now munching away happily at her dinner. Rolling her eyes, she decided to leave the young cat to it and went out of her temporary quarters.
Having discovered the location of Zoarial’s quarters, she made her way there and buzzed.

Arya found her quarters nice enough, but she had a few other things on her mind. She found Steven hadn't come to relax yet, and was a little sad by that. She unpacked and took out padd to write down a few notes, then she noticed it was the padd to talk to Steven. She figured he was probably pretty busy, and put it down getting a different padd.
This one had the information she was looking for. She decided to read up on their new first officer, and she hoped it was nothing bad. Arya took the padd and headed to see what was around this place for food.
Once settled with some food and beverage in front of her, she picked up the padd to start some light reading.

Suprised about the lack of content, Zoarial overturned his bags on top of his bed. He hoped that he would be busy the rest of the day with sorting out his stuff, but it took him 6 minutes and 54 seconds exactly to have his possesions shelved and his clothes clumsily folded in the closet.
Somewhat glad Zoarial scanned the quarters and found the arrangement to his liking. However, he started rumaging through his bags, looking for an artifact that he didn't remember seeing on the bed. With a big grunt he violently shook all his bags up and down and suddenly he heard a clear sound like links of a necklace rubbing against eachother. He stook his arm in the bag and found wat he was looking for. With a faint smile on his face he opened his hand just as the doorchime went.
Quickly Zoarial closed his hand and tucked the item safely under his pillow. He threw the bag into the corner of the room and sat down on his bed, trying to look casual.
"Come in!" he said, and the door slid open. When E'Liana stepped inside, he noticed that she wasn't wearing her uniform, but a familiar style of clothing that Zoarial hadn't seen for quite some time. Suddenly he noticed that he was still wearing the uniform that he had been wearing the last couple of days, and he felt unclean.
"Good day miss BeTor" Zoarial said, and got up to walk to the bathroom. "What brings you to my quarters?" He asked while splashing some water in his face. "Would you like something to drink?"

As the door opened to Zoarial's quarters, E'Liana had the sneaking suspicion that she had seen him hide something. Deciding to ignore it for the moment, she went inside and smiled.
"Good day miss BeTor. What brings you to my quarters?" He asked whilst splashing some water in his face. "Would you like something to drink?"
"Yes please, something to keep me awake...and I'm here because my cat is driving me mad at the moment - she nearly suffocated by trapping herself in my bag." She sighed, exasperated. Without waiting for an invitation, she sat down on an empty chair, hoping Zoarial wouldn't mind.
"Do you want to go to the holodeck or something? I don't like being off duty with nothing to do and my family are no where near us at the moment..." She became withdrawn and took a sip of the drink Zoarial had given her.

Steve was sitting at the desk in his quarters going over various reports. Once they were done, he was going to check in on Arya, to see how she was. Sipping his hot tea, he closed his eyes and rubbed at his head. He had spent the better part of the last two hours reading the PADDs and making ammendments to them.
He sighed and put the final PADD down, glad to be finished with it. He got up and finished his tea, before checking on himself in the mirror. Just as he was making sure that he looked presentable, his door chimed.
'Who cold that be?' He thought to himself....He was sure it couldnt be Arya, as he was going to be meeting her at her quarters.. 'Only one way to find out'
"Enter." He called out, awaiting his guest.

"Enter."
Matt made sure to straighten out his uniform and entered the Captain quarters followed by Caleb.
"Captain Smith, I'm Matthew Reynolds, I was transferred here as the Acting First Officer," Matt said crisp and formal. Matt handed the captain his tranfer orders and waited for the Captain to say something.
As Matt waited he couldn't help, but survey the captain's quarters. It had more character than he was used to.

Majeski stood in the ten forward on the USS Evdor one of three Venus Lawerence class assult ships , and looked at his old ship USS Raven , feeling a hand on his shoulder he turned around Deputy commander in cheif of star fleet , the older elf looked caveworn the last 3 years didn't do him any justice since the ships launch due to some minor fighting at the Buran border, "Son you really want to go back?" his father asked Chris looked at his father and shrugged and took a sip of his iced tea in his hand , "I suppose , well...I dunno I heard Admnial Mc 7 of 9 was in command then he left just before i got on board " Looking at his iced tea he gave it a swirl to get rid of the ice crystals that haven't desolved yet. "Listen you can always change your mind, I did offer you the command of the Evdor herself she's a fine ship and you have been my XO for two years " Shaking his head " I mabye I'll take this assignment for a bit if not I'll take your offer how's that father?" The Elder Majeski gave a chuckle "I'll be keeping your seat warm for you boy" Chris gave a weak smile "Thats dad" he turned to leave giving has father a pat on the back "Hey boy, don't get yourself killed ya hear " Chris turned around "Dad i'm damn near 13 hundred years old for petes sake" "Your still a boy in my eyes " he gave his son a grin "Take care" and he headed for the air lock as he wandered towards it he felt the hsip shudder as it docked , he entered the airlock and onto the stair base and grunted why he returned to this sector confused him past belief

Having finished her reading material and her meal, Arya returned to her quarters. She thought about something, and wondered what Steve would say about it.
She picked up the padd to send him a message.
Steve, I was wondering when we might talk about the wedding. I know you are probably busy right now, so no hurry on a response. I am on the base right now for when you decide to make an apperance. She sent it and walked over to the replicator getting some hot cider.
Arya returned to the couch stretching out with a blank padd and her cider to prepare some notes on what she thought would be good for the wedding preparations.

Nathan threatened to faint on the spot when he heard the news of MC's disappearance. Only the support of his two feline friends kept him on his feet and he noticed his son staring at him his eyes wide with concern. The two kittens were mewing in his arms, clawing him as they wrestled themselves from his tight grip. "Daddy?" little Freddy repeated, tugging his father's sleeve, "daddy are you all right?"
Nathan stared down at his son, taking a couple of deep breaths. "No," he said, a little harsher than intended, then he knelt down to be at eye-level with his four-year old son. "Remember daddy's friend? The one who gave Auntie Sonak away at her wedding? He's gone missing, someone took him."
"The Borg?" Freddy enquired, visualising the tall admiral.
"Yes, the Borg," Nathan agreed, "now you have to stay with Snowfall and Firestorm here, they'll teach you how to care for Sox and Tibbe."
"No," Freddy said resolutely, "I'm coming with you....I want to see the ship. You promised dad!" Indignantly, he gazed up at his father, having seen too many promised made to him broken.
Nathan sighed. "All right, if you promise to behave and keep an eye on those kittens of yours!"
Freddy cheered, caught his little pets and went with his father. Minutes later, a pale-faced human doctor and a four-year old boy asked for permission to board the Raven-A.
Immediately, they went up to the bridge. "Is it true?" Nathan asked no-one in particular, "has MC been abducted? Has he been found yet?" He had so many questions, he didn't know where to start.

Scene: Matt's quarters, USS RAVEN
It had been a very productive meeting with Commander Smith. Matt had introduced himself and Caleb with relative ease and they were both pleased at his attitude. Matt had now been on the Raven for a few days checking things out.
He still had to meet the entire senior staff, but he would remedy that fairly soon. But for now he had to unpack all of his belongings which unfortunately it was taking a lot longer than he expected. He would have to cut down on all the gifts he was giving Caleb.
"How is your homework going?" Matt asked finally securing his ceremonial bat'leth.
"I'm almost done," Caleb said with mild interest. Matt couldn't help but be surprised. Caleb had received a mountain load of homework and he had finished three days before it was due. Pretty soon Matt would need to assign him extra stuff to keep him occupied.
Once Caleb finished his homework and ate some lunch, Matt decided that it was time to visit his old friend, E'Liana Betor.
"Caleb come on, we're going to sickbay for our physicals and I'm going to introduce to you one of my fellow graduates when I was a cadet," Matt said waiting for Caleb to put up his plates.
"Is she cool?" Caleb asked glad that he would be meeting someone new.
"Yes, she is very intelligent," Matt said," she's also a Klingon." Matt knew that Caleb had very bad experiences with Klingons, but he wanted him to know that not all of them were like the ones he had met in the past. Caleb had stopped walking, and was looking at Matt with anger and suspicion.
"Why do we have to go see a Klingon, Matt?" Caleb said briskly.
"Because, she is the doctor on board this ship and because she will be responsible for your health and everyone's health on this ship," Matt said hoping that Caleb would understand.
"But the hologram doctor can do that," Caleb rebutted,
"Yes, he could," Matt said," but you don't need to be afraid of them. There not going to hurt you here, they are our friends and if anyone wants to hurt you I'm here to protect you."
"Are you sure she won't try to kill me?" Caleb asked.
"I'm sure, Calen," Matt said as they entered the turbolift and headed towards sickbay. Caleb's nervousness was clear but he was determine to go through it.
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency," the EMH stated.
"There is no emergency, we are just here for our physicals and to speak with Doctor Betor," Matt said as he scooted Caleb along into sickbay.

"Captain Smith, I'm Matthew Reynolds, I was transferred here as the Acting First Officer." With that announcement, Steve couldn't hide his surprise. "Already?" He half-asked. "Wow, Starfleet sure are geting quick at these things." He held out his hand to shake Matthew's. "Please, take a seat." He said, gesturing towards his desk. As he did so, he heard a beep coming from his desk. Without looking, he knew it was one of his PADD's, and he know who it was from.....Arya. As soon as he got this little meeting out of the way, he would read the message and see her. "So, Matthew, what brings you to the Raven....aside from the obvious position?" Steve asked, hoping to find a little bit more about his new XO. As he awaited the reply, he moved back behind his desk and retrieved the PADD that had beeped. Sure enough, there WAS a message from Arya. Steve smiled, and read it. Steve, I was wondering when we might talk about the wedding. I know you are probably busy right now, so no hurry on a response. I am on the base right now for when you decide to make an apperance.'Busy, yes.' He thought to himself. Within a matter of seconds, he manasged to write the reply: I am a little tied up right now my dear, but as soon as I am free I will come and find you! xxSteve sent the message and sat while Matt answered him.

OCC: This is my first post so please be lenient IC: Carl, now Acting Ensign had received his orders: He was to be the new Chief Operations Officer on the Raven-A .. Not wanting to wait, he had secured passage on a freighter headed for Starbase Bellicose. It would get him there a full day before he was actually due to report. The few day's the trip had taken were uncomfortable to say the least, but he hadn't minded. Once docked and cleared for entry to the Starbase he had given his thanks to the Captain of the freighter and headed for the nearest observation point. And looked out the window ... There she was, The U.S.S Raven-A. She seemed to hang, totally motionless, in the vast dock of the Starbase. Almost three hundred and fifty metres long, the ship seemed to shine under the artificial lighting of the base. Engineering and service shuttles seemed to move around her in a well choreographed dance. Carl could hardly wait to get on board .. Leaving the room with a final glance back, he made his way round to where an enclosed walkway connected the base and the Raven. People, both in uniform and civilian clothing were coming and going. He walked up the ramp and waited for the office at the lock to notice him. "Ensign. Anything I can do for you ?" he asked Torek. "Lieutenant, I've been posted to the Raven, Acting Ensign Carl Torek ... " The Security Officer looked down at the PADD he was holding, scrolling until he found the correct entry ... "Ahh, our new C.O.O, OK." he looked round and signaled an Ensign about to board, "Ensign Elgin, Could you please show Mr Torek to his quarters, deck four, Aft section." "Yes Lieutenant, no problem. This way ....." "Carl. Carl Torek." he volunteered. "Right, Carl. I'm Tom, Engineering. Your quarters are this way.. You're first ship ?" "Yes." replied Carl as they entered a turbo lift, "Does it show ?" "No." Tom said laughing, "Everyone looks as if they're going to see a twentieth century dentist on their first day." Carl could only manage a grin. Leaving the lift the two headed down a corridor, Tom nodding and exchanging small talk with several other crew as they walked. "OK, here we are." he said. The door opened and Carl glanced inside before turning back to Tom. "Thankyou." he said. "No problem Carl. No doubt we'll bump into each other. When you are settled in you might want to inform the bridge of you're early arrival. They will inform the Captain. If you have time before you're first duty shift pop into Ten-forward, we'll toast your arrival.." With a wave he headed back towards the turbo lift's. Carl stepped into the room, his living quarters for the foreseeable future ..........

OOC: Because Matt currently has two things going on at once (and I thought men couldn’t multi-task… this is set after his convo with Steven) IC: Having sat with Zoarial for a while in his room, each with a drink in their hand, E’Liana’s comm-badge suddenly beeped. “Raven Sickbay to Dr BeTor” Mildly alarmed, E’Liana mouthed “sorry” apologetically to Zoarial and tapped her comm.-badge. “BeTor here, what’s wrong?” “Nothing is wrong, Doctor” The EMH said in what sounded like an annoyed voice, but as usual, E’Liana ignored it. “I merely wished to inform you that our new First Officer and a young boy have come to sickbay looking for you. As the Chief Medical Officer, it is your duty to oversee the Senior Staff’s medicals.” She could practically see his eyebrow rising sardonically. “Oh, right, yes of course. Tell me, who is our new FO?” “A Matthew Reynolds, Doctor. What shall I tell him?” She smiled, she remembered Matt from their training mission together. “Tell him I’ll be right there.” “I’m sorry, Zoarial, perhaps we can pick this up later? Duty calls and all that…” <TAG Zoarial> As she left his quarters, she made a detour to her quarters to get changed into her uniform. Glancing at the time, she noticed that she had two hours before her shift was due to start anyway ~Time to rack-up a little overtime…~ ~*~ As she made her way into her office, she noticed two people sitting there waiting for her. One she recognised as Matt and the other was a small boy. ~I don’t remember him having a son…~ She thought, puzzled. “nuqneH” She said, remembering Matt’s knowledge of Klingon but then she noticed that the boy jumped slightly at hearing her. She sat down at her desk whilst Matt greeted her and introduced her to his adopted son. ~Aha, makes sense now…~ She smiled at the young boy, but he seemed a little distant, and she could tell that Matt seemed conscious of this too. Deciding that it was just boys being boys, she tried to ignore it. “Well” she said “let’s do your physicals, shall we?” She smiled at Caleb once again, trying to put him at ease, but apparently failing miserably. She sighed to herself as she led the way out of her office and into the main area, indicating them biobed to sit on. <TAG Matt> Smiling in response, she picked up a tricorder and went to the console nearest the two of her patients. “I see your records have been transferred to the ship, good. Now I just have to update them.” Reading them over quickly, she noticed nothing out of the ordinary for the two of them. ~Should be easy then…~ she thought. After administering a number of tests and scans, they seemed healthy. “You’re both perfectly healthy, although Caleb’s adrenaline levels are a little higher than they should be.” Noticing Matt’s concern, she added “nothing to worry about, it’s probably just stress…worried about being on the Raven?” She asked him. <TAG Matt/Caleb…feel free to finish this off, hehe> OOC: nuqneH – ‘Hello’, although it literally means ‘what do you want?’ in the typical blunt Klingon fashion…

OOC: Eliana, I'm no ordinary man, IC: Scene: Steven's quarters"So, Matthew, what brings you to the Raven....aside from the obvious position?" Steve asked."Please call me Matt, Matthew makes me sound old," Matt responded with a smile," and I suppose fate has brought me here." Matt was a bit skeptical about his own answer, he didn't know exactly why he had agreed to the transferr, but even with doubt he would do his best job. "Before I forget, Captain I would like to introduce my son," Matt said proudly," his name is Caleb." "Hello Captain," Caleb said flashing his smile," it's very nice to meet you." "The pleasure is all mine Caleb," Steven responded also offering a smle. "Well Captain if there is anything else, I think it's time we go unpack," Matt said standing up. OOC: And sorry for using your character a bit Steven Scene: SickbayMatt didn't wait very long to hear the doors of sickbay open and he was even more pleased when he heard Klingon. Matt immediately turned to see E'Liana Betor behind him. Matt couldn't help but offer his biggest smile and was almost tempted to hug her. He then remembered that Klingon's did not touch in such ways. "Eliana I would like you to meet Caleb, my son," Matt said holding on to Caleb's shoulders. He could feel his tension and his mild shaking. “Well” she said “let’s do your physicals, shall we?” She smiled at Caleb once again, trying to put him at ease, but apparently failing miserably.~Why is Matt doing this to me?~ Caleb thought, ~he knows what her people did to my family.~ Caleb turned to look at Matt, who immediately caught his eyes. Caleb knew that Matt would never hurt him, but he still didn't feel comfortable. The only reason that he was still here was because Matt had asked him to do this. "Matt these biobeds are different than the ones on the Jefferson?" Caleb commented as E'Liana performed scans on Matt."Really, how are they different?" Matt asked. "These are smaller than the ones on the Jefferson," Caleb responded," on the Jefferson the biobeds are at least half a foot higher." Matt couldn't understand how Caleb knew this, but accepted what he said. Caleb had a tendancy to be right about these kind of things. “You’re both perfectly healthy, although Caleb’s adrenaline levels are a little higher than they should be.” Noticing Matt’s concern, she added “nothing to worry about, it’s probably just stress…worried about being on the Raven?” She asked him.It was now Matt's turn to tense up. Caleb had never had anything wrong with. Even on the Oceanus, he had never gotten sick. "Are you sure?" Matt asked clearly concerned," he has never gotten sick." "Matt the doctor is right," Caleb said wanting to ease Matt's fears. "She's right, I miss home."Matt surveyed Caleb and then turned to E'Liana. He wanted to make sure that Caleb was alright before they left.

Carl had unpacked, showered, and changed into a clean uniform. Being a day early was all well and good, but it left him at a bit of a loose end. He could go to Ten forward for a while or take a look around the ship ... Then he remembered the Lieutenant saying he would need to report to Sickbay for a medical before starting his duties. He touched his comm-badge ...
=^= Bridge =^=
=^= Bridge .. Opps =^=
=^= I'm Acting Ensign Carl Torek, I need to report for duty =^=
=^= Yes Ensign, we have already been informed of your 'early' arrival. You need to go to sickbay for a medical at some point. You could get that over with to save time =^=
=^= OK, Thankyou, I may do just that =^=
=^= The Captain will be informed you are on board. bridge out =^=
Right, Sickbay or food, hmm. He decided to get the medical out of the way before getting something to eat. Leaving his quarters, he walked down the corridor to the turbo-lift, as it arrived, he entered ..
"Sickbay" he requested.
The corridor leading to Sickbay was quiet, though most of the regular crew would be taking advantage of the shore-leave he decided. Carl entered Sickbay ..
Stopping in the doorway he looked round, three people were talking near a bio-bed so he waited, not wanting to intrude. A Klingon woman looked round and seeing him, spoke.
"I am E'liana Betor, Chief Medical Officer .. You are ? "
"Carl Torek, I've just been posted to the Raven and was told I would need a medical."
"Yes, that's so." said the Doctor looking round, "Have you had the chance to meet your Executive Officer yet ?"
"No, erm, Commander, pleased to meet you." said Carl, holding out his hand, which the Commander shook.
"You're our new Chief Operations Officer if memory serves, nice to have you aboard. This is my son, Caleb."
"Hi." Caleb and Carl said in unison, and laughed.
"Right." said the Doctor, "Sit yourself on that bio bed and I will be with you in a moment."
Carl nodded to the First Officer and moved toward the bed indicated ...
"See ya later." Caleb said, waving ..........

"Matt the doctor is right," Caleb said wanting to ease Matt's fears. "She's right, I miss home." E’Liana’s eyebrow arched involuntarily at that. Whilst she did believe him, she also had the feeling that her presence was unnerving him slightly as well. She had met people who disliked Klingons before, and so was familiar with the signs but decided to let it rest for now. Perhaps she’d ask Matt later. “Are you sure he’s alright?” Matt asked, anxiously. She gave Caleb a quick look, who seemed to be avoiding her eye. “Yes, I think he’s fine. Everyone gets nervous from time to time, but if you like, he can come back in a few days if he’s still not settled in.” <TAG Matt> She was about to respond to this when the door to sickbay opened and a man who looked at least slightly Vulcan came in, but seemed to reluctant to intrude and stood hovering by the door. Deciding that she should see what was wrong, she excused herself from Matt and his son and went to introduce herself. "I am E'Liana BeTor, Chief Medical Officer.” She said, holding out a hand to shake. “You are…?" He took it briskly and replied. "Carl Torek, I've just been posted to the Raven and was told I would need a medical." She smiled. "Yes, that's so." said the Doctor looking round, "Have you had the chance to meet your Executive Officer yet ?" "No, erm, Commander, pleased to meet you." said Carl, holding out his hand, which the Commander shook. "You're our new Chief Operations Officer if memory serves, nice to have you aboard. This is my son, Caleb." Whilst the trio was performing the usual social niceties, E’Liana decided to look up Mr Torek’s medical file which had, sure enough, been transferred to the Raven’s database. ~These guys at the starbase sure seem to know what they’re doing~ she mused to herself. She quickly scanned over the medical report, looking once again for anything important and was pleased to note that she was right about the young man’s heritage. His mother was Vulcan. Matt tapped her on the arm to say goodbye as she reached for the tricorder. “We’ll see you soon, I’m sure” he said, motioning to Caleb. She smiled “well we have some leave left on the starbase, so I’m sure I’ll see you there…” She looked at Caleb out of the corner of her eye and thought she saw him consciously keep away from her. Caleb smiled at Torek. “See ya later!” he said, waving to the new officer as he and his dad left. E’Liana felt a pang in her heart at being ignored, but ignored it. ~He’s a child, they’re always like that with Doctors…~ She told herself. “Right!” she said to Carl. “I’ve had a look at your medical records and seen the effect your prosthetic has had on your healthy eye. Once I’ve done the routine tests, I’d just like to do a couple on your healthy eye to make sure it’s still alright. Is that ok?” <TAG Torek –I read your bio, but if you’d like to add a spin to this, feel free. If not, then just wrap it up. >

Carl sat while the Doctor ran the few test's she needed to. They chatted a little about Carl's decision to go into space and one or two other thing's as she worked. But Carl was eager to see the result's of the test's and wasn't too chatty. Commander BeTor tapped away on the PADD she held, nodding to herself as she scanned the readout. "OK Ensign. All done. You are fit for duty." she finally said. "Thankyou Doctor." Torek said, with more than a hint of relief. "Just one question .. " she said, as Carl was hopping down from the bio bed, "There are numerous upgrades for the prosthetic eye you have. Why, have you not taken advantage of them ?" Torek smiled as he thought for a moment before replying .. "Commander, When the 'accident' happened, I knew full well that a replacement eye was available to replace the one lost .. Let's say I've grown 'accustomed' to the one I have. To replace it would really make me feel as if I had a prosthetic." he smiled self-consciously, "It probably doesn't make sense to you Doctor, but to me, it does." E'Liana looked at Carl for a moment, she thought she understood what this young man was saying ... "Very well Ensign, I will inform the Captain you are passed fit for duty .. And, thankyou for the .. Explanation." Carl smiled and thanked the Doctor in return then left Sickbay ... Ten-forward he decided .. He needed a meal inside him .......... < Medical over ? >

Scene: Sickbay “Yes, I think he’s fine. Everyone gets nervous from time to time, but if you like, he can come back in a few days if he’s still not settled in.” Matt looked at E'Liana and then turned to Caleb studying his reaction to her words. To most regular people they would of noticed nothing, but Matt did and he had the impression that E'Liana did as well. Matt immidately felt a pang of pity for Caleb, the universe was very different than the Jefferson, and he would have to learn to adjust. Matt was about to say something else, but stopped as he heard the doors open. Matt turned and saw that he was waiting for E'Liana to finish checking up on them. E'Liana quickly realized that Matt's attention was elsewhere and she introduced herself. "I am E'liana Betor, Chief Medical Officer .. You are ? " "Carl Torek, I've just been posted to the Raven and was told I would need a medical." "Yes, that's so." said the Doctor looking round, "Have you had the chance to meet your Executive Officer yet ?" Matt propped himself off the biobed and looked at the Acting Ensign, trying to remember what post he was going to occupy. "You're our new Chief Operations Officer if memory serves, nice to have you aboard. This is my son, Caleb." "Hi." Caleb and Carl said in unison, and laughed. Matt couldn't help but notice Caleb's ability to relax near the newest crewmember. His eyes slowly moved towards E'Liana, hoping to find her eyes. "See ya later." Caleb said, waving .......... “We’ll see you soon, I’m sure” he said, motioning to Caleb. She smiled “well we have some leave left on the starbase, so I’m sure I’ll see you there…” "Yes you will," Matt said," oh and E'Liana Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam." Matt took Caleb's hand and led themselves out. He knew that Caleb was going to learn to adjust his attitude towards other people, but for now Matt would have to work with him. "Caleb, want to go shopping?" Matt asked knowing that he had promised to himself that he wouldn't buy anymore gifts. "Of course," Caleb said seemingly totally comfortable again. OOC: The italics are Klingon that's been translated.
IC: With the end of her sudden flurry of patients, E’Liana hung around in sickbay for a while, since technically she had a shift. However, since the majority of the crew were now on the starbase, she was wondering why she was there. In the middle of her musings, she heard the bleep of her computer in the office.
Wandering slowly to the console, she saw it was her Aunt Gi'ral waiting not so patiently for her.
“Hurry up, E’Liana! I have things to be doing.”
“I’m sorry, Aunt, how are you?”
“I am fine, as is the rest of the family. By your surprise, I’m assuming you’ve forgotten AGAIN of your promise to Grilka”
E’Liana’s face paled. Grilka. She had completely forgotten. She hadn’t asked permission from the new temporary Commanding Officer, she had asked Mc7 ages ago…she hoped everything would be alright.
“No Aunt.” She said, paling slightly. “I haven’t forgotten”
Her Aunt looked at her disparagingly, and E’Liana thought she heard her mutter something about how on Qo’Nos her niece became a Doctor.
“Well” Her aunt said. “It doesn’t matter anyhow. She’s on her way with Huraga anyhow. They’ve been travelling for a week or so now, should be at your star…base by now.”
The brief thought as to why the hell she hadn’t been reminded flitted through her mind before E’Liana decided on the futility on that line of argument with her Aunt. Klingons were notoriously annoying in that department, Aunts especially so. Add to that the fact that she would be arguing with an elder and, well, she had no chance.
“Alright Aunt, I’ll keep an eye out. What’s Huraga doing here anyway?” She asked. She hadn’t seen the old man for a few years, he was a friend of the family.
“He’s going to a nearby planet on some business, I don’t know what. I’m not interested in politics.” Her Aunt replied, dismissively. “I wish you’d come back home. Your father misses you, despite what he hides.”
The conversation carried on for a little while longer until E’Liana realised that she would have to get her quarters ready for her new arrival.
Her cousin was only two years old, but compared to a Human child, she looked about eight. The reason she was coming was that Grilka was learning Federation Standard and her family had decided that her most effective means of doing this would be to live in that environment to learn it quicker. That’s where E’Liana came in.
Walking to her room, she began fussing.
~*~
Two hours later, she was waiting patiently for her cousin. When they arrived, Huraga grinned at her, moving his greying hair out of his face and grasped E’Liana in a grip so tight she almost choked. By his side was Grilka who had grown rather a lot since E’Liana had seen her last.
~*~
E’Liana and Grilka made their way to E’Liana’s quarters to move her in temporarily. When they got there, Grilka unpacked her things and E’Liana wrote a quick message to Captain Smith to explain the situation.
<TAG Smith, if you want…>
“Now!” She said to her young cousin. “I know you have to speak FS whilst you’re here, but how about we go and meet Zoarial?”
Grilka looked at her in surprise. “A Klingon?”
“Yes, there’s another Klingon onboard too, an Engineer, but I’ve never met him. Let’s go and see Zoarial.”
<TAG Matt if you want to find two Klingons *g* >
<TAG Zoarial>

Steve listened while Matt answered his question. There wasnt a lot else that needed to be done right now, so he stood up from his desk.
"Until I am given our new orders, the Raven is to remain is the Starbase for the time being. So no, right now there is nothing that I require you to do. Relax, and try and mingle with the crew that are out and about. When I recieve word, I will contact you!" He held out his hand to shake Matt's again
<Matt>
Once Matt had left, Steve went back to the message that Arya had sent him, wrote quick reply. Sorry for not the short reply earlier darling, I was just meeting the new XO. I am ready to meet you now....Where are you? He sent the message and headed towards his bed to have a quick lay down.
After only a few moments of peace, there was a beep to alert Steve of a new message. Thinking it was from Arya, he jumped up to look at it. In fact, it was a message from the CMO, Commander BeTor. He quickly read through the message, and replied stating that as Admiral Mc7 was ok with the situation, then he would be too.

Scene: Steven's Quarters
"Until I am given our new orders, the Raven is to remain is the Starbase for the time being. So no, right now there is nothing that I require you to do. Relax, and try and mingle with the crew that are out and about. When I receive word, I will contact you!" He held out his hand to shake Matt's again
"I will do that, sir," Matt replied," but first I must pay a visit to sickbay. Now if you would excuse us we must be on our way."
"Bye, Captain," Caleb said enthusiastically.
"So did you like him?" Matt asked once they were free from the Captain's quarters and in the safety of the turbolift.
"Yeah, he seems fun," Caleb said smiling.
=^=Bridge to Commander Reynolds, could you please report to the bridge=^=
=^=On my way=^=
"Computer bridge," Matt ordered perplexed as to why they didn't contact the Captain himself. Once he got to the bridge he was immediately startled to see a frantic man who looked in distress. Next to him was a young child, no more than five, holding two kittens.
"Hey Matt what are those?" Caleb said pointing to the two little animals. It dawned on him that Caleb had never seen a cat or a dog. He was more accustomed to Sehlats and other alien animals.
"That's a baby cat," Matt whispered before he turned his attention to the man.
"Commander Reynolds, this is Dr. Nathan van Breughel and he would like to know about Admiral MC," the Lt. said. Matt turned his attention to the doctor. He clearly wanted to know what happened to him.
"Dr., I'm sorry to inform you that the Admiral has indeed been kidnapped," Matt said," and unfortunately that is all that I know."

Arya had closed her eyes against the small headache she was having, when all of a sudden a padd beeped. She opened her eyes and listened for it again finding it was coming from nearby. She then remembered the linked padds, and she picked it up reading his message.
Arya smiled, and ignoring her head wrote a message. Well, I said so earlier, but ok. I am in my quarters on the starbase. I look forward to your arrival.
She sent it, and then laid back on the couch relaxing as she closed her eyes again. She felt herself drifting off.
