Steve left the Science Labs, and headed to the Transporter Room as his presence was needed there.
The Gopoi vessels had stopped by the Olympia and their inspection crew were about to beam over. Even though this was their job and duty, it still never sat well with Steve. Yes, neither the Olympia of her crew had anything to hide, but that wasn't the point....Steve didn't want the Gopoi on his ship for any longer than was necessary.
Steve took a slow walk to the Transporter Room, knowing he had enough time to get there. The sooner they were on board the Olympia, the sooner their inspection can start, and then the Olympia can carry back on with her mission.
Entering the Transporter Room, Steve was greeted by Commander Tan.
"So.....they not here yet then?" He asked, half jokingly.

"So ..... They are not here yet then ?" the Captain asked, half jokingly as he glanced at the still empty transporter pad.
"Well we 'ALL' know how the Gopoi are about punctuality." David replied with a shrug.
=^= Shuttle-bay to Admiral Smith .. Departure complete =^=
=^= Thank you .. Smith out =^=
"Shuttle-bay ?"
"Yes. I decided to take your advice and throw Ensign Allistar in a shuttle. That Lieutenant, Harlos, thought it was safer to have the entity off the ship too, so ....." Steven said with a grin.
"It wasn't actually a serious suggestion. Though Allistar will hardly be missed." Tan replied grinning.
"Sir ... The erm Gopoi inspection team are ready to bea ....." the transporter Chief began, but the platform activated, "..... eam in." he finished as he looked at the six 'people' glaring at them from the pad.
Admiral Smith stepped forward. Steven was around six foot three or four, and the Gopoi were a head above him. All six eyed the Olympia Officers with suspicion, but didn't voice it out loud.
"Admiral Smith. Comman ......"
"We will begin the inspection now. You will not be required to accompany us. Should we need to speak you will be sent for." the lead Gopoi said as he headed for the doors.
"I'm sor ......" David began, stepping forward, but Steven waved him back.
"Besides, we have nothing to hide." Steven said, following them out of the transporter room, "Let them get on with it. Fancy a drink ?"
"You still have that 'eighty four' brandy ?" Tan said, falling into step ..........

Shuttle trips, they always seemed inordinately longer than they actually were and for a mixture of reasons. The confined space and the lack of things to do were the main two and these two things always drove Janet insane.
Never the less she kept herself from tearing the shuttle apart from the inside out and sat almost silently for the entirety of the trip. Eventually the shuttle pilot announced they were within range of her new ‘home’ and pointed it out to her as it began to turn from a grey spot to a fully formed starship.
Janet shrugged she hadn’t found anything particularly interesting about starships nor found them in any way attractive. Not to mention it wasn’t the first time she had served on Olympia, two years ago she had held the position of Assistant Chief Medical Officer under Jack Crane. But now she was back and with a bigger job.
She waved her hand and said. “Skip the tour.. beam me straight to the transporter room will you.” The Chief petty officer nodded as she walked to the back of the shuttle.
“Energize.”
She materialized on the Padd and was face to face with two men she recognized, “Admiral a promotion or two I see, good to see Starfleet hasn’t forgotten the little people.” She said as she stepped down.
Looking to Tan she took a deep breath and said. “Still Commander and still in yellow so I’m guessing still second officer... If I were you I’d get a new agent… Show business is a tough industry.”
She held up her hand. “It’s Doctor not Ensign before you say anything sirs.. no I don’t need an escort anywhere I know where sickbay is and I know where the Chiefs quarters are... That and it would seem you have guests coming in a few moments.”
She stepped off the transporter Padd. “Speaking of sickbay I will be on my way.. I suggest you don’t have urgent need for me in the next half an hour.. I’ll be cleaning up whatever mess the last idiot you had in there made.”
“Gentleman.” She walked out of the transporter room, and straight for sickbay.
OOC: For future reference, I in no way allow my character to be written for thank you.

OOC: Lt Allistar as you seem to be happy on the Rainer, I hope it's okay for me to write you out on the Olympia.
Crystal and Ensign Harlos had worked frantically. It seemed that whatever was inside the CScO wasn't actively malevolent but it was equally clear that they weren't leaving. Crystal had contacted sickbay and they had contacted starfleet medical. Containment had been arranged and as the Olympia had a new CMo arriving it was arranged to transfer Brandon Allistar to her shuttle once she had disembarked and thence he was to be sent to Starfleet Medical.
Crystal paused for breath a moment as she watched the CScO knock back a glass of mercury. She winced, obviously some fairly major changes had been wrought on his system. He seemed healthy. She hoped things would work out for the other officer.
She stretched and worked a kink out of her spine, possibly she should have warmed down a little more thoroughly after her work out but it was a bit late to worry about that now. She knew that the Admiral and Commander Tan were involved meeting whoever was coming on board. She turned and headed for the bridge

"Well I have got to admit, I never saw that coming." David said as the two entered the Captain's ready room and Steven poured them a large measure each, "It's 'DOCTOR' not Ensign !" he said, almost laughing as he was handed the glass.
He had only just begun to lift it to his lips when the Comm chirped to life ...
=^= Cargo bay to Admiral Smith =^=
"It never rains." Smith said, knowing what was coming and nodding to his Operations Manager to reply.
=^= Commander Tan .. What can we do for you Master Chief ? =^=
=^= There is a BUNCH of gorilla's down here demanding entry to the cargo bays .. We are holding them at arms length until you can get down here and turf them off the ship ! =^=
=^= They are from the Gopoi Conglomerate Chief .. They are doing a routine search before we traverse their space .. It's OK to allow them access =^=
=^= BUT !!! ....... But they will mess the place up .. Opening crates .. Scattering carg ...... =^=
=^= They will be as inconspicuous as possible Chief .. We have their word on that .. They simply want to check manifest and open the odd crate or two .. I'm sure you won't allow them to make too much mess .. We'll be counting on you Chief =^=
=^= BUT THEY WI ...... =^=
Tan closed the Comm before the irate Scotsman could begin his rant over again. He took a long drink of the amber liquid. Little knowing it would be his last drink for a long long time ! ..........
~~~~~~~~~~
"Commander ..." the Helm Officer said to Crystal, worry showing in his voice, "The Port side Gopoi vessel has powered up and is closing on us. Both ships are arming weapon's."
"Raise shields." Crystal said then tapped the Comm.
=^= Captain to the Bridge immediately ! =^=
In the ready room, Tan sighed as both men put their glasses down and made their way out to the Bridge ... As they entered, Tan went to Ops while Smith took the seat vacated by the Exec' seconds before.
"What's going on Crystal ?" Steven said, looking at the view-screen.
"Something has spooked the Gopoi Sir." Rose answered.
"I'm trying to raise them but they are remaining silent." Tan said, moving to stand with Ensign Milloy at Tactical, "They have armed all weapon's and have a lock on us. We'll be in trouble if they open fire now." David pointed out watching the Admiral tap the Comm.
=^= Bridge to Commander .. Gopoi inspection squad .. Please report your status ....... =^= The Comm remained silent for a few seconds then they heard the Chief.
=^= Sir's .. Did i no tell you this would happen .. ALL HELL'S broken loose in cargo bay two =^=
=^= What are you on about Chief ? =^= Tan asked, puzzled at the mans attitude.
=^= Those Gopoi people seem to have found guests .. Hiding in the bloody crates we picked up .. I'm guessing whoever the laddies were they are dead by now though .. There was a lot of shouting before the Gorilla's managed to gain control =^=
It was obvious to everyone that they were in trouble, and a lot of it. Whatever action the Admiral took now would decide their fate.
"Drop the shields. Let's be as submissive as possible until this can be sorted out ... Crystal ... David you two with me. Ensign Milloy you have the Con." Smith said, heading for the turbo-lift.
"Mister Milloy." Tan said as he followed, Find out how we managed to get people aboard without them being detected by our sensors."
The three Senior Officers rode the lift down in silence, none wanting to voice their concerns over what could happen next ..........
Crystal was settled in the centre chair on the bridge and had updated herslf on the mission. It was supposed to be a simple transport mission. The thought made her stomach knot. The last time the Oly had had a 'simple' transport mission she'd ended up elbow deep in a ticking bomb and the XO had nearly been killed. She shivered slightly and push thoughts of a crotchety old professor and his incredibly lethal invention out of her mind. This mission would be better, it had to be.
"Commander ..." the Helm Officer saidCrystal looked up to see what was wrong. The lieutenant sounded worried which was a little concerning. "The Port side Gopoi vessel has powered up and is closing on us. Both ships are arming weapon's."
Crystal's eyebrows rose slightly but her voice was calm. "Raise shields."
She tagged the comm =/\= Captain to the Bridge immediately =/\= She stood and restrained herself from pacing. It was a matter of seconds before the Captain and the SO emerged from the ready room.
"What's going on Crystal ?" Steven said, looking at the view-screen.
"Something has got the Gopoi spooked, Sir."
"I'm trying to raise them but they are remaining silent." Tan said, moving to stand with Ensign Milloy at Tactical, "They have armed all weapon's and have a lock on us. We'll be in trouble if they open fire now." David pointed out watching the Admiral tap the Comm.
Crystal listened as reports filtered up from the cargobay. It was not good. In fact it was obvious to everyone that they were in trouble, and a lot of it. Whatever action the Admiral took now would decide their fate.
"Drop the shields. Let's be as submissive as possible until this can be sorted out ... Crystal ... David you two with me. Ensign Milloy you have the Con." Smith said, heading for the turbo-lift.
"Mister Milloy." Tan said as he followed, Find out how we managed to get people aboard without them being detected by our sensors." Crystal looked across to Chief Lyle and bit her lip. She wanted to add so much but noted that she was all ready calling up sensor logs and left things as they were.
The three Senior Officers rode the lift down in silence. They swept between floors heading for a meeting none of them wanted.
"So," Crystal said "Can you fill me in on the most recent developments, I didn't even know there was an inspection team aboard."
"So ..." Crystal said, "Can you fill me in on the most recent developments, I didn't even know there was an inspection team aboard."
David looked at Steven, wondering if he was going to update the Exec' .. But it seemed he was leaving the details to Tan.
"Well everything was OK until we all went to the lab to see Allistar ... As you know we got the Comm saying the Gopoi were demanding we come to a stop to be searched. Their right I suppose. Anyway, we went to meet them, thats when the shuttle taking Allistar off the ship deposited our new Medical Officer. 'Doctor' Janet Reilly no less. You'll remember her from whe ......"
"Stick to the facts David." Smith said lightly.
"OK, well, the Doc came aboard while we were waiting for the inspection team. When they arrived they 'insisted' on doing the check unaccompanied ..... We were having a drink when, as you know, the Gopoi vessels suddenly closed the distance to us. Apparently they had found several people stowed-away in crates in cargo bay three, and needless to say they are now awaiting some sort of explanation ... They may well be waiting a while." Tan finished, not quite hiding the sarcasm in his voice.
"Who the hell stowed-away these days ?" Crystal asked, almost not believing the Operations Officer.
"You're guess is as good as ours Commander." Steven said as the turbo-lift doors opened and the three came face to face with several suddenly heavily armed, and less than friendly looking Gopoi ..........
The noise that came from sickbay was unusual to say the least, raised voices were something that wasn’t often heard.. especially not voices raised in anger. The shouting prompted Janet to leave the solitude of her office and venture out into main sickbay.
Her eyebrows immediately raised at the scene of two of her nurses with their hands raised in the air with guns pointed at them. She looked to the gun wielding aliens and gave a rather menacing smile. “Problem gentleman?”
the one she assumed was the higher ranking of the two brutes grunted before he said. “Official inspection.. you are to comply fully.” She moved closer to Janet his gun pointed at her chest almost to the point where it made physical contact. Janet looked down at it before looking back up at him keeping her smile. “You can stop pointing that at me.. or have it forcibly inserted somewhere that even a surgeon my skill would have trouble removing it… Your choice.”
He stared her down for a moment before begrudgingly pointing his weapon a little to the left. Janet scowled as she shook her head. “Shame I was looking forward proving my point.” She brushed past him and waved her nurses off before turning back and saying.
“Now what may I ask are you searching for?” as she waited for the reply she moved over to the main sickbay console and leaned heavily on it.
He glared at as he stepped closer to her, clearly not trusting her in the slightest. “More stow a ways.”
He had genuinely surprised her, more?, she hadn’t even heard of any being on board, she took a deep breath as she replied. “This is a sickbay not a holiday resort we don’t take reservations… but look around if yo must don’t touch anything it is all sterile.”
As if on que the comm. channel opened asking for a Doctor to make their way to check on what appeared to be unexpected guests… Janet sighed as she picked up a med kit and pointed to a nearby nurse who’s name she had yet to learn. “You keep an eye on these two.. make sure they don’t go messing my stuff up.”
She turned and headed out, she made it to within inches of the door when a heavy hand fell on her shoulder and a deep voice said. “No leaving until we are done here.”
Janet cocked her head as her hand slipped into the med kit. “I have patients please remove your hand.”
“No leaving.” Was the reply as the grip of the hand on her shoulder tightened, her head hung low for a moment before her hand suddenly shot behind her and toward his lower body. She heard him take a deep breath followed by a pained moan as she turned and said. “Oh you do keep them there!.. it was a gamble I admit but it paid off.”
She raised the hypospray as he now fell to his knees still making pained groans, she shrugged as she took in a deep breath.. “Ooh that is going to sting.. don’t scratch you’ll only make it worse.” She shrugged again as her menacing smile returned to her lips. “Tatty Bye.”
She spun on her heels and left quickly.
**Several minutes later**
She walked down the hall only to encounter more of the Alien ‘inspectors’ these ones seemed to be pointing guns at the XO, SO and Admiral. Janet slightly shook her head as she moved closer. “Making friends I see.. how lovely.. hate as I do to break this touching moment up… I need to know where these stow aways are.. they need to be scanned for illness and the such.”
<Tag>
She was about to turn but cocked her head slightly when she said. “Oh and I may have accidentally very much annoyed one of our charming guests.. when he tried to stop me attending to patients.” She shook her head flippantly as she added. “You can tell his no doubt angry friends the feeling will come back in a few hours.. and unfortunately for the future of the galaxy he will be able to resume using that certain area in a few days.”
"...... Apparently they had found several people stowed-away in crates in cargo bay three, and needless to say they are now awaiting some sort of explanation ... They may well be waiting a while." Tan finished, not quite hiding the sarcasm in his voice.
Crystal was voicing what the three of them were thinking when she asked 'who stowed away' but there wasn't any time to go into it as the doors opened and several irate Gopoi came toward them. Their mood was unmistakable, given they were dragging on tip-toe four people David had never seen before, and were making their displeasure known by thrusting the business end of some sort of disruptor weapon into the chest of each Officer.
"Your vessel is subject to impound ... You will be held until trial came be held to confirm your execution !"
This was obviously the leading inspector, or so they thought, until what can only be described as a 'massive' Gopoi materialized ... The Gopoi conversed rapidly, shaking the prisoners repeatedly until one actually passed out.
"THAT'S ENOUGH !" Admiral Smith shouted suddenly. Causing the Gopoi to fall silent, apparently awaiting their leader to dispense justice on the interloper in his usual manner. But they were disappointed on this occasion, as the leader turned to look the Human up and down, "There is no need to treat these man is this way." Steven finished. He was about to continue his objections when the Doctor appeared.
"Making friends I see ... How lovely. Hate as I do to break this touching moment up but I need to know where these stowaways are, they need to be scanned for illness and the such." She was about to turn but cocked her head slightly when she continued, "Oh and I may have accidentally very much annoyed one of our charming guests when he tried to stop me attending to patients."
Crystal was about to ask the Doctor to be quiet, but the Gopoi beat her to it ...
"SILENCE THIS BIRTHER BARISH !" the leader screamed suddenly, "If she speaks again I will allow my males to feast on her do you understand me !"
It dawned on everyone suddenly, that the Gopoi treated the female of their race with less reverence than their cattle, but frighteningly, that they may be a cannibalistic race of beings. Tan turned and grabbed the Doctor's arm as she opened her mouth to rebuke the Leader of the Gopoi. Almost dragging her to the far bulkhead, under the watchful, hungry gaze of the Gopoi he almost slammed her against the metallic surface to shut her up instantly.
"It MAY have gone right over your head in your haste to get your point across 'Doctor' but those people could quite possibly be less than vegetarian in their eating habits. So do us ALL a favor and keep your mouth shut for the time being !"
Before he could continue, the male Reilly had flippantly dispatched stumbled in. The look of pure horror on seeing his leader stood there was plain ... Without speaking, the leader took hold of the man by the neck and ripped his throat away before throwing it to the floor. The attacked male fell to the deck dead, the others regarding the body as a sophisticated person might regard a meal prepared by an expert chef.
"You have cost me one of my better men ... Now HUMAN ... Explain what these are doing here, before I destroy this vessel out of hand !"
It occurred to David that while he may well carry out the threat to destroy the Olympia. For the crew, it wouldn't be that quick a death ..........
It wasn't often that Steve was ever at a loss for words, but now was one of those times. The Gopoi were demanding answers as to why the Olympia had been hiding passengers in their cargo bay, and Steve did not have any sort of answer for that. He was as surprised as the Gopoi were about it.
He glanced at the 'passengers' and the Gopoi for several moments, knowing that whatever he said, the Gopoi were not going to accept it. Taking a deep breath and pausing, he finally began to talk.
"These people are not on board the Olympia under any sanction from the Federation. They have managed to sneak aboard and avoid detection by our sensors. As to why they are here, I have no idea."
Silence hung in the air for a few moments.....and then all hell broke loose!
Things had moved fast in the cargo bay it was obvious that somehow the stowaways had slipped aboard undetected. Crystal could recite the specs of the Oly's internal sensors and she knew there was no way that something like this had happened if everyone and everything was doing what that they had supposed to. She had two thoughts on how that could have occurred, either the sensors had been sabotaged or someone had looked the other way. In either case there was a traitor on board the Olympia and on some level that was Crystal's fault. The Admiral commanded the Oly but as FO Crystal managed the ship dealing with all; the personnel issues and transfers. Someone had got past her.
While the Gopoi bawled and ranted Crystal did her best to fade into the background. It was obvious that they didn't think much of females in general and she knew full well how standing next to the ship's CO and SO made her look. She wasn't particularly bothered by it but she was certainly aware of the affect. They were each thirty centimetres (and plenty of change in Commander Tan's case) taller than her. The Admiral had once been a Security chief and looking at him no one would think that he didn't know how to handle himself. Commander Tan was taller and broader than the CO both would put him in the 'threat' category. Crystal herself not so much, she had put on a bit of muscle in recent months but it was pretty well hidden by her uniform. She slid half a pace back, if she could just get to a computer access she could get going on this investigation...
The Gopoi leader ripped the throat out of one of his men. Crystal retched, but managed not to throw up. She was grateful that it had been a long time since lunch. She dimly remembered that on her first mission she had been confronted by a death on the view screen and had nearly blacked out. Not this time. She forced herself to look at the body that was bleeding across the deck. She forced herself to breathe. "You have cost me one of my better men ... Now HUMAN ... Explain what these are doing here, before I destroy this vessel out of hand !" The words were harsh and clearly directed at Admiral Smith. Crystal knew it wouldn't do for her to say something, not that they would take her seriously anyway. She waited to here what her CO had to say.
David watched the Gopoi leader as he started to loose his composure. He watched Crystal back away slightly, not through any sense of fear, more a strategic withdrawal to a position where she could best defend herself should the need arise.
The Gopoi lifted one of the stowaways by the throat, almost but not quite breaking the mans neck out of hand. They were much stronger than their Human counterparts, Tan knew that, but then that allowed the Humans some freedom of movement the Gopoi didn't have. He began to edge to one side as Steven spoke ..
"These people are not on board the Olympia under any sanction from the Federation. They have managed to sneak aboard and avoid detection by our sensors. As to why they are here ... I have no idea."
The Gopoi looked at Smith as if he were regarding something he had stood in, then threw the man he was holding against the far bulkhead ... The man was dead before he hit the deck !
Suddenly everyone seemed to be furnished with weapons, and beams of deadly energy began to dance around the small corridor. Two of the Olympia's Security Officers went down instantly, before Crystal managed to place a bolt of pure energy into the Gopoi's chest. Everyone was suddenly running for cover. Several people lay dead or wounded before Tan grabbed the Exec' by her tunic and jumped backward toward a turn in the corridor.
"COMPUTER ... Emergency force-fields ... Bulkheads twenty three and twenty five this corridor !" Tan shouted over the din.
The leader stood rock solid, pure hatred and rage fighting for supremacy on his face. One of the Gopoi had run forward to grab the Admiral, but the force-field snapped into place with a fraction of a second to spare and the man slammed into the energy field. He was thrown back screaming in pain ... David thought he heard something about the enemy vessels over the Comm and yelled for the Helm to try to move the ship as soon as possible. He felt himself loose traction on the deck for a second, that 'stomach in your throat' feeling of momentary weightlessness, before he was almost pinned to the bulkhead as the Olympia made an impossible turn and dive maneuver. The ship shuddered as the shields took a pounding, but someone was flying the hell out of her, that was certain.
Getting to their feet Tan looked to see who was missing and heard one of the Security Officers yell ... He turned in time to see the Gopoi beam out of their temporary prison cell. They had left the two remaining stowaways cowering, eyes wide as they stared at their colleague in the corner.
"Get to the Bridge !" the Admiral ordered.
"You two." Tan said, pointing at two Security Officers, "Secure these two and have the body removed to the morgue. The Doctor can look at him when we have time to spare."
He followed his Senior Officers into the turbo-lift ..........
Crystal had got to one of the interface panels and was typing on it almost blindly, she couldn't turn her back on what was going on in front of her, she was using her body to hide what she was doing.
The Gopoi leader had grabbed one of the stowaways now, Crystal could not suppress a wince as she saw his claws bite into the man's throat. He wasn't dead or even fatally wounded so far as she could tell but she was having trouble tearing her eyes from the blood trickling down the other man's neck.
Crystal dimly heard the Admiral's denials of knowledge about the stowaways she was waiting to enter the final command. She saw the muscle tense in the Gopoi leader's arm. She wasn't sure what he was about to do but she was sure it was going to be a distraction. She tagged the final button just as the stowaway was airborn. No one noticed the small shimmers all over the bar each one within 30 cm of an Olympia crew member and each keyed only to crew members.
Crystal stared silently at Ensign Hollis, the security guard nearest to her, he turned in his direction. She looked down at his feet for a second then back to his eyes. His gaze followed hers down. When their eyes met again he smiled. He nudged the ensign standing next to him. Both of the crew members grabbed the phaser that had appeared at their feet and moved to cover. The distraction had run it's course and people were starting to look in other directions. Crystal grabbed the phaser by her feet off the floor. she wished she had spent more time on the phaser range.
The bolts started to fly Crystal saw one Gopoi shooting at the crew, she hadn't seen him draw a weapon... This wasn't what she had planned but then plans rarely survived contact with conflict. Not all of the Oly crew members realised what had happened. Crystal tracked the shooter through the chaos and squeezed her phaser's trigger. The bolt hit him square in the chest. She watched him go down. She froze for half a second as everything around her registered for the first time. She found herself being bodily hauled down a corridor.
"COMPUTER ... Emergency force-fields ... Bulkheads twenty three and twenty five this corridor !" Tan shouted over the din.
The Gopoi leader was still on his feet but not leading anything. One of the others made a run at the Admiral but Tan's forcefields appeared in the nick of time. There was a crewman down in the corridor Crystal ran to him, he was petty officer Markus Denby if Crystal remembered correctly. He had been clawed not shot and a was still alive. She tagged her comm badge
=/\=Commander Rose to Sickbay medical emergency. Petty Officer Denby's throat's been ripped open. He's just about breathing and he's lost a lot of blood=/\= Crystal was doing her best to stem the bleeding but she was no medic and knew it.
Tag: Doctor Reilly
The deck lurched and then a small tremor ran through it. A stranger wouldn't know what those signs meant but Crystal did those went evasive manoeuvres and shots that the shields couldn't quite handle
"Get to the Bridge !" the Admiral ordered. "You two." Tan said, pointing at two Security Officers, "Secure these two and have the body removed to the morgue. The Doctor can look at him when we have time to spare." Tan gave his orders as Doctor Reilly appeared beside Crystal.
Tag: Doctor Reilly
As soon as she's able to Crystal heads for the turbolift somehow moving fast enough to keep up with Commander Tan. The door slid closes on the three of them. Crystal had blood her hands and uniform tunic, a phaser on her hip although she couldn't remember holstering it, a traitor on her ship, and was dreading what she would find when they reached the bridge. She would cope that was what officers did, that was what XOs did. She couldn't crack now. She wouldn't but...
David looked back at the Gopoi stuck behind the force fields ...
The leader was looking back at them with something akin to hatred on his face. Tan knew there and then that the Gopoi were not going to let the Olympia off. We had entered their territory, been found to be harboring a group of people, and had now fired on them !
It wasn't looking good ...
The lift doors opened and all three Officers entered the Bridge.
"Report !" Smith demanded, both Crystal and himself taking the Command area seats while David relieved the Officer at Opps. He could see the Gopoi vessels on the view screen turning to pursue the Olympia.
"They are coming after us Captain. Tan said as the ship was rocked by a massive explosion.
"The Gopoi we had confined have set off some sort of charge." Milloy said from Tactical, "We're venting atmosphere in that area. Force fields have activated."
"Prepare for MVAM."
"There's too much damage to the systems Captain. Multi Vector is not available. Systems are being re-routed, but it's taking time." Milloy said.
"DAMN ! ... Increase speed and try to keep those damn ships from hitting us." Steven said. Then held on as the inertial dampers tried to keep up with the maneuvers the Helm Officer was forcing on the ship. David wondered if the woman had been some sort of test pilot in another life. He seemed to remember reading that they pushed equipment up to and beyond their specified safety parameters, even to destruction at times. He just hoped the Olympia would take the punishment and come out not too battered and bruised.
"I want a full spread of torpedoes." Smith ordered, "All aft launchers, wide dispersal pattern. Set them for proximity detonation ... Fire when ready !"
"Torpedoes away Sir." Malloy confirmed as David adjusted the view to show the oncoming Gopoi ships.
Seconds later there were eight bright flashes as the torpedoes detected something big enough to set them off ... Everyone on the Bridge waited, barely allowing themselves to breath until they knew the outcome of the blasts.
"One vessel destroyed." Tan said, scrutinizing his screen, "Two damaged ... They are falling back Captain. Looks like we may have made a break." he said, relieved. But that relief was short-lived as Milloy spoke.
"Sir ... I'm picking up four vessels. Identical configuration to those we've just fought off. Definitely Gopoi. They are approaching from different directions. There is no way we can avoid a confrontation with two, maybe three of them in the next few minutes."
No wonder the damaged ships were dropping back without trying to keep pace with the Olympia. They had sent for reinforcements the minute the firing had started, and now the Olympia was being hunted down with nowhere to hide ..........
They reached the bridge, Crystal ignored the looks that were thrown her way given the state she was in. If she could ignore it, so could they. The Olympia shuddered again. Crystal caught the upper railing as she made her way to the centre seats (she was grateful that they'd done away with the single centre seat on the Prometheus class). She called up the ship's tactical read outs on her screen although the viewscreen and the shaking through the deck plates gave her a pretty good idea.
"I want a full spread of torpedoes." Smith ordered, "All aft launchers, wide dispersal pattern. Set them for proximity detonation ... Fire when ready !" The Admiral had settled next to her and David had taken oven at Ops.
"Torpedoes away Sir." Malloy confirmedThe image on the viewscreen shifted showing the ships attacking them. Crystal called up the sensor data on them and started to scroll through it.
Seconds later there were eight bright flashes as the torpedoes detected something big enough to set them off ... Everyone on the Bridge waited, barely allowing themselves to breath until they knew the outcome of the blasts.
"One vessel destroyed." Tan said, scrutinizing his screen, "Two damaged ... They are falling back Captain. Looks like we may have made a break." he said, relieved. But that relief was short-lived as Milloy spoke.
"Sir ... I'm picking up four vessels. Identical configuration to those we've just fought off. Definitely Gopoi. They are approaching from different directions. There is no way we can avoid a confrontation with two, maybe three of them in the next few minutes."
Reinforcements. just what they needed right now... Crystal muttered under her breath and then leapt from her seat and went to the back of the bridge to lean over the shoulders of the petty officers on the engineering and science stations. Both of the twitched slightly as they realised that the FO was leaning over their shoulders. She smiled slightly and then turned to the comm.
(OOC: Welcome Aboard. I'm assuming that you've been aboard the entire time, now wouldn't be a great time to turn up in a shuttle after all. PM me if you want me to change this) =/\=Commander Rose to Ensign Guthrie, MVAM would be really useful right now. For here it looks like the blown circuits have been rerouted but the activation is still not getting through.=/\=
Tag: Lt Johnson
Crystal knew that the CEO would be busy holding the ship together. =/\=I think there's a power lost on one of the rerouted circuits. Something seems to be causing a drain.=/\=
Tag: Lt Johnson
=/\=It's forward deck six. I think whatever needs to be done has to be done on site.=/\= She looked over at her CO. "Permission to leave the bridge, sir. I think we can get the MVAM active but it'll take a bit of onsite work."
Tag: Admiral Smith
Crystal barely waited for the Admiral's permission to leave the bridge before she hit the turbolift. The commlink was still open so she continued.
=/\=I'm on my way to deck 6 now, if you can spare anyone to help I'd be grateful.=/\= It was a request rather than an order. She thought she could pull the job on her own but someone else would certainly make things easier.
Tag: Lt Johnson
The smell of burning was heavy as Crystal reached the right area of deck six. She pulled an access panel off the wall and knelt sticking her upper body into the space, this was one of those time when being the height she was was useful. There had to be some form of short here, something that was putting extra load on the system.
OOC: Modified in light of change of CEO to avoid confusions
The Gopoi vessels were closing in on the Olympia ...
"Oh no ..." the Helm Officer suddenly said.
"What is it ?" Smith asked.
"Three more ships are heading our way Admiral." Steven was about to bring the ship to a halt, no point in trying to run, when the Helm Officer continued, "Sir, the new vessels are much bigger tha ... They're not Gopoi ... Three Vor'cha Class Klingon warships ... They are contacting us Sir." the woman said, about as confused as the rest of the Bridge. Smith ordered a channel open and on-screen. A giant of a Klingon appeared before them.
=^= USS Olympia .. Should you wish to survive your current situation turn on heading two six five point five .. NOW ! =^=
"That will take us toward the Klingon's Sir." Tan said looking at his Commanding Officer.
"Helm ... Turn to heading." Steven ordered then tapped his Comm badge.
=^= Smith to Rose .. Forget MAVM Commander get back to the Bridge .. We have company =^= he closed the Comm and watched Klingon as the Olympia banked to the right in a tight turn to Starboard before leveling out.
"The Gopoi vessels are turning away, they're running from the Klingon's." David said, watching his screen as the surreal scene played out. Two of the Vor'cha Class ships sped past the Olympia at high warp, each chasing down two of the much smaller Gopoi ships. The third ship began to turn in a long arc that concluded in it coming alongside the Olympia. Matching speed and heading.
"Drop out of warp. Bring us to full impulse, this heading." Smith said.
Seconds later they were at impulse and watching a tactical view of the battle far behind them ... The Klingon ships had destroyed three of the four Gopoi and were now almost playing a game of cat and mouse with the third, forcing it to turn to the right, then left as each Klingon ship took turns to take seemingly casual shots at the doomed vessel. It was obvious the Gopoi knew their fate, because the ship suddenly turned to a heading that was on a collision course with the closer of it's former pursuers. The Klingon ship had no choice but finish the game, and the smaller ship vanished in a flash of anti-matter ... Once deprived of their game the two ships turned and fell into formation behind the first ship.
=^= No need to thank us Admiral Smith =^= the man said.
=^= Who am I to be grateful to may I ask ? =^=
=^= I am Colonel K'norr .. We were on routine patrol when we saw the Gopoi had strayed beyond their agreed boundary .. They are fully aware of our agreement and despite the fact they were pursuing you should have remained inside the agreed limits .. The Klingon Empire will not tolerate breaches and they suffered as consequence .. I am though .. Curious as to 'why' the Gopoi were eager to capture your vessel Admiral .. Care to enlighten me ? =^=
=^= They boarded us for inspection as we were traversing their sector of space .. Everything seemed fine until they heard what or cargo was .. They got a little evasive and concluded the inspection .. The next thing we knew they had called for help and were chasing us =^= Smith said, omitting any mention of the stowaways.
=^= That cargo being ? =^= K'norr asked menacingly.
=^= Medical supplies .. We are heading for Poliant IV .. The pandemic there is spreading and they have asked the Federation for aid =^=
K'norr watched Smith closely, as if trying to decide if he were being lied to, or the Human was just thankful for his timely intervention. David watched the Klingon. He could tell that someone was speaking to the Colonel out of shot. Tan looked down and could see they were being scanned ... Whatever he was being told, he seemed satisfied.
=^= OK Admiral .......... Would you like us to escort you .. Wouldn't want vital medical supplies delayed .. Now would we =^=
=^= Thank you for the offer Colonel .. We're grateful for the offer and your assistance but I'm sure we will be able to manage from here .. I will of course inform Command of your help I'm sure they will contact your superiors =^=
The Klingon smiled, his eyes never leaving Smith's. David was certain they had gone from the proverbial frying pan, and into a Klingon fire. But K'norr seemed happy that things were indeed as they seemed ...
=^= Oh no need Admiral .. I am happy our alliance has paid dividends again .. I wish you well on your journey .. Qapla' =^=
=^= Qapla' =^= Smith replied as the screen cleared to show space.
"He didn't seem too convinced." David said.
"Let's get the hell out of here before he changes his mind and decides to pay us a visit." Smith said, breathing a deep sigh of relief, "Helm ... Set course for Poliant IV ... Warp four."
"Course set."
"Engage." Steven said.
The Olympia turned to Port, leaving the Klingon ships in formation. They hadn't moved while the Olympia was readying herself for departure. Now, as the Prometheus Class Star ship jumped to warp, the Vor'cha Class ships made an almost lazy turn to the same heading and jumped to warp ..........
Crystal was elbow deep in the circuitry when the CEO arrived at her side she hadn't been expecting him to come in person but here he was. She looked up at him as he approached. "I'm pretty sure I've got the right circuit here but it's fairly badly burned out."
Tag: Lt Johnson
She saw his gaze flick down to the dried blood on her uniform. "It's not mine, there was a bit of a confrontation in the cargo bay earlier. Dr Reilly said that Petty Officer Denby' would make it." She shrugged unsure what to say. It was interesting to have a marine back on the Oly's senior staff.
Tag: Johnson feel free to add stuff at this point.
Crystal and Lt Johnson were picking through burned out circuits and rerouteing where they could. Crystal had burned her hands in a couple of places but nothing serious it
=/\= Smith to Rose .. Forget MVAM Commander get back to the Bridge .. We have company =/\=
She rolled her eyes and tapped her comm badge.
=/\=Rose here sir, I'm on my way back up. =/\=
She got to her feet and went to wipe her hands on her tunic and then decided that was a bad idea. "Good luck Lieutenant, if you think you can get the MVAM straightened out in the next ten minutes do it. You never know when it'll come in handy. I'll make sure you're updated when I'm back on the bridge."
The Olympia had made good progress to Poliant IV without further incident ... "I've contacted the Poliant Council Admiral ..... They are more than happy we're here. They are getting desperate for the supplies." Tan reported. "Good ... Two days at high warp. Are the Klingon's still shadowing us ?" Steven asked. "Right on the edge of our sensors, but yes, they're still there Sir." the Tactical Officer replied. "Take us into standard orbit Helm." Crystal said, rubbing her neck to relieve the knot that had developed. "Admiral. The Poliant High Councilor is requesting to come aboard. He says it is a matter of great urgency that he speaks with you ... He is aware of the Klingon vessels approaching and asks that you allow him aboard 'before' the Klingon's can attain orbit." Steven looked at Crystal than David ... Something was obviously wrong, and it involved the Klingon's. "Inform Doctor Reilly when we are in orbit. Tell her to begin sending the supplies as soon as viable." Smith said the the Tactical Officer, "Crystal, David, my ready room please." Smith said, getting up. < tag : Dr Reilly >Ten minutes later a tall, regal looking official was shown into Smiths office ..... "Admiral Smith ... It is good to finally meet you ... I am High Councilor Gravek Namm." He shook hands with each Star fleet Officer in turn as the Admiral made the introductions. Then took the offered seat. Everyone waited while an obviously uncomfortable Namm fought with his unease. "I must come to the point quickly I'm afraid ....." the man began, "Some time ago we received information that the Klingon Empire, specifically the Klingon representative to the Federation, was trying to annex supplies to an ally of ours. They did not have the means to find out for sure if the information was indeed correct, so, against our better judgment, we sent several people to Earth. Suffice to say it is too long a story to pass on every detail to you. But it seems their presence was discovered ...... And ......" "And you used the 'OLYMPIA' as a means to get your people home, using the pandemic as a solution too good to miss out on !" Tan interrupted before Steven raised his hand. "As ashamed as the Poliant government is, I am afraid you are right." Namm said, lowering his head in embarrassment as the Comm chimed. =^= Bridge to Captain =^= =^= Go ahead =^= =^= Sir .. Three Klingon vessels entering orbit .. They have positioned themselves so we're boxed in =^= Smith looked at his senior Officers before replying. He knew raising shields, or bringing weapons on line was tantamount to an admission of guilt. Th Klingon's wanted the men he had and he needed them off his ship pretty damn quick ... The 'LAST' thing he wanted now was some bloody international incident ! =^= How much of the medical supplies have still have to be beamed to the surface ? =^= =^= Approximately forty percent Sir =^= =^= Very well .. Keep me informed .. Smith out =^= "Crystal." Steven said, standing, "Get to the Brig. I want those 'guests' off my ship as quickly, quietly, and with little or no fuss as soon as you can come up with something OK." "Sir." the Exec said, getting to her feet and heading out of the ready room. < tag : Crystal >The Comm chimed yet again and Smith smacked the badge on his chest with obvious irritation. =^= Smith .. What now =^= =^= Sir .. Klingon Colonel K'norr is demanding to come aboard without delay =^= =^= Tell him I am curren ...... =^= =^= Sorry Sir .. He is fully aware of who you are speaking with and the nature of the conversation .. He says if you attempt to beam anything but supplies to the surface he will fire on the transport point .. He says if you are not willing to meet with him now he will come aboard uninvited and will come in force =^= "I don't see any choice." David said, "It's hit the fan in the bucket full." Namm looked confused at the comment, but Tan really couldn't be bothered explaining it to the Poliant official. Especially as the man had most likely caused the demise of the Olympia and her crew should the Admiral not be able to figure something out ... And quickly ! He just hoped, for all their sakes, that the Exec could come up with a way to get the spies the hell off the Olympia in short order ... K'norr wouldn't have the proverbial leg to stand on then .......... < tag : ALL >OOC : Nearing mission conclusion now everyone, so let's make it one HELL of a good one OK
**Slight Backpost**
Janet looked down at the body, his superior had killed him with pretty much one hand a rather impressive display of strength if not intelligence. “Your crews life insurance premiums must be murder!” she remarked as she looked up.
The leader bellowed about her shutting up or allowing his males to feast on her to which Janet smiled. “I’ve heard worse pickup lines.. maybe if you bathed every now and again?”
** After the brawl
Janet leaned down next to Crysal who had her hands covering a rather large wound on a crewmans throat, Crystal had already called sickbay but as soon as Janet saw the wound she shook her head. “Sickbay cancel last emergency call.”
She looked to Crystal and said softly. “He has ruptured his artery, his windpipe is in two pieces.. and there is a good chance of spinal damage.. he is dead already I’m sorry.” It had been three minutes since the crewman was wounded, the area of the damage meant he had lost almost half his blood and his brain would already be dying. Even if she could perform an impossible miracle and keep him alive he’d never wake up.
Cyrstal stood and followed Tan and Smith into the turbolift leaving Janet kneeling in the middle of stunned hostiles and two dead bodies. She looked down at the crewman he had died, running her hand over his face she closed his eyes and whispered. “Rest in peace, you’ve earned it.”
Security officers made sure the Gopoi were transported away and Janet awaited the arrival of a medical team to see to the transporting of the corpses to the morgue. Looking to one of the young Ensigns who cringed at the blood she said. “It never gets easier.. if it does there something wrong with you.”
The team and the bodies beamed away now only Janet was left, part of her curiosity wanted to watch and see how the damage repair teams managed to clean the hall up, they always seemed to do it in minutes no matter the damage. However her uniform needed changing and she had post mortems to deal with.
**Sickbay**
Janet sat in her office, death certificates were never pleasant to fill out. The task was only made harder by the fact it was a fellow officer. She didn’t have time to dwell on it the comm. channel opened and someone’s voice said.
“Doctor we are in orbit.. the Admiral would like you to start sending down the supplies.”
Janet nodded, a second passed before she remembered the person couldn’t see her and she said. “Will do.. Reilly out.”
Steven looked at the duty Operations Officer and spoke.
"Contact Doctor Reilly ... Tell her to get the Poliant spies off the ship and down to the surface. I'm not interested in how she does it, just inform her I want it done ... Yesterday !" he turned to Tan, "David with me."
"I should return to the surface." Namm said, a little nervous edge to his voice, "I think It would be better for all should I not be aboard when ......"
"Ensign, escort Councilor Namm to transporter room two and get him back to the surface. Councilor we will talk later, should that be possible."
Smith and Tan headed toward the Admiral's ready room as Crystal stepped off the turbo-lift. Smith waved for her to follow. She nodded silently to the Lieutenant seating herself in the Command seat and opening a Comm link as she passed ...
Once inside he motioned for his two Senior Officers to be seated as he moved to the replicator. After supplying the drinks he sat down.
"So ...... Any thoughts on how we rid ourselves of three Klingon Warships ?"
"Well for all the Klingon bravado, I can't see K'noor firing on the ship, even less so on the surface of Poliant itself. We would be at war before the dust settled ......" David said, and was about to continue when the Comm chirped but the reason for the interruption appeared before Smith could answer, as three Klingon's materialized in the middle of the ready room ... It didn't go un-noticed that two were pointing disruptor's at Smith, Rose and Tan !
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THI ......" Smith began, slamming his glass down on the desk, but K'noor simply grinned as he interrupted.
"Admiral ... Admiral ... I told you that if the spies were not handed over I would come back and 'acquire' them myself."
=^= Admiral we have company .. Four armed Klingon's have appeared on the Bridge =^=
=^= As you were Lieutenant .. Don't do anything to provoke them .. Smith out =^=
"Wise move." K'noor said, the inane grin still in place as he watched Tan smack his Comm badge.
=^= Security to the Bridge =^=
"They will be of no help Commander." K'noor said, "But feel free."
The Comm chirped yet again and the Klingon Colonel nodded to Smith to answer.
=^= Smith =^=
=^= Admiral .. The Klingon vessel has fired on the beam-down location .. The first three crates and eight Poliant personnel have been ...... There were no survivors Admiral =^=
You could have cut the silence with a blunt knife as Smith slowly rose from his seat. His eyes never leaving those of his Klingon counterpart.
"You have just brought the Federation and the Klingon Empire to a state of WAR !" he said menacingly.
"A little dramatic, but I seriously doubt that Admiral." the smile returning to the Klingon's face, "I think you will find we have ample proof that the Poliant spies had taken information vital to the Klingon Empires' security, and I have been granted permission by the High Council to regain that information ... At ANY cost !"
The Comm interrupted them once again.
=^= Admiral .. The Klingon vessels have locked weapons on the Government enclosure on the surface .. The Poliant Spaceport .. And .. And the Olympia herself Sir =^=
Tan watched the Klingon, all but gloating at his position. 'Not that the Klingon's tended to gloat' he thought, no small hint of sarcasm in the idea.
"I trust your good Doctor didn't hide the spies in those first two crates she has just sent down ... If so, then our business is concluded. But I would strongly urge you to instruct her to hand them over to the Officers waiting outside the cargo bay 'IF' they are still aboard ... I really do NOT want to cause more loss of life in this 'situation' OK."
Crystal and David looked at their Commanding Officer wondering if he would succumb to the obvious threat against him ..........
Steven stood his ground and refused to be swayed...his anger boiling over.
He walked and stood face to face with K'noor.
"Do you seriously think that after this little stunt I am going to back down to YOU? How naive do you think I am? For a start, you don't threaten an Admiral of Starfleet and get away with it. And secondly, unlike you, my crew and I have morals, so we will not be handing anyone or anything over to you."
He took a glance to the armed Klingons and chuckled. "I think now would be appropriate to inform you that this Ready Room is protected against your weapons....they wont fire!"
A large grin formed on Steve's face as the Klingons tried firing the weapons, and nothing happened.
"Can't have a Rear Admiral suddenly being vaporised while he is looking over his reports now, can we?"
K'noor grunted his disapproval at him.
"Lost for words? Good...then I will carry on." Moving round to his desk, Steve put his finger up and pointed a padd. "See this here? This one button relays a command to the bridge informing them to perform the Multi Vector Assault Mode...in other words, split the Olympia into three self containing ships, fully capable of offence, defence, and all have warp capability. Do you really think that you could take on all three sections AND deal with the spaceport and surface? Because I would damn well like to see you try."
Glancing at David and Crystal, they seemed to have relaxed. "So.....what's it to be? Fire on us and violate the Klingon-Federation Alliance, or leave this ship and return to your vessels and get the hell out of here?"
"So ...... Whats it to be ?" Smith said, looking up into the Klingon's eyes. For a moment, David wondered if the man was going to call his bluff. He could see the rage building on the man's face. But K'noor must have know he had overstepped the mark, and by a long way ... Firing on the surface, with the obvious loss of life that caused, could have re-started the Federation Klingon war. Seething, he yelled at the two Officers with him. One took out a communicator and spoke quietly, all the time keeping a wary eye on his volatile Commander. Then both Officers beamed out, leaving K'noor glaring at Smith, who wasn't even trying to keep the look of satisfaction off his face. Everyone knew this could still turn nasty, and waited anxiously for the Klingon to leave. "Do not think for a moment that you have won a victory here ... Admiral ... You're threat, if you wish to look at it that way, is weak. You know full well that should you make any aggressive move there would be nothing of this vessel left to separate !" Tan stood, getting the mans attention. "I think this meeting is over ... Commander." he said. David remained calm as the Klingon half-drew his D'k tahg, but then thought better of it. Apparently killing one puny Human wasn't worth the effort. He slammed the weapon back into it's scabbard, a deep growl emanating from the back of his throat. "This is 'NOT' over." K'noor said through gritted teeth, "One day ... Soon ... We will meet again, and at that time I will be less lenient. Unlike you Admiral, I have no fear of war. I do not have to 'justify' my actions like you do. As for the spies ... Well, we shall just have to apply other means to get them back won't we ... For now ... Qupla' !" With that he vanished from the ready room ..... David and Crystal followed their Commanding Officer onto the Bridge where Steven opened a Comm. =^= Smith to Doctor Reilly .. Did you manage to beam our guests to the surface ? =^= =^= I'm sorry Admiral .......... But they were in the first crates .. There were no survivors =^= =^= Thank you Doctor .. Smith out =^= "Well at least that mad man can't get his hands on them." David said, then turned to the duty Operations Officer, "Contact the surface ... See if there is anything we can do to help down there." Steven sat down heavily, suddenly exhausted. "They say they don't need anything else from us. They are asking for the remainder of the supplies to be beamed down to the secondary site, then they would like us to leave Poliant space Sir." Tan looked at Steven, who nodded ... Thirty minutes later they were done. The Klingon's had undoubtedly scanned each consignment as it was sent, but didn't open fire again. Once the last of the supplies were down the three Klingon vessels broke orbit and jumped to warp ... The Admiral opened a Comm to the surface to express his sincere condolences at what had happened, but as expected, the Poliant government were in no mood to talk and again requested the Olympia depart. "Set course for Star base forty seven. Warp six." "Course set Sir." the Helm Officer said. "When you are ready then." Steven said getting up, "Commander you have the Bridge, I'll be in my quarters if you need me, but try not to OK." "Yes Sir." Crystal said, taking the vacant Command seat, Tan sat himself beside her and watched the ship leave orbit. A few seconds later they jumped to warp ...... ooo000ooo It had taken four long days, but the Olympia was finally approaching home ...... =^= Star base forty seven to the Olympia .. Welcome home .. Please stand by to relinquish control for automated docking =^= =^= She's all yours Control .. Thank you for the welcome =^= Tan replied There was an almost imperceptible nudge as the base took full control of the ship, everyone relaxed a little as the massive space-doors opened to allow the Prometheus Class ship inside. =^= Dock-master to Olympia .. Admiral Smith your presence is requested by Admiral Tetsutarô .. He would like Commander Rose and Commander Tan to attend also =^= =^= Very well Dock-master .. Message received =^= Steven said. Ten minutes later the Olympia was docked, umbilicus stretched out to feed power to the ship as the warp core was shut down. Two walk-ways extended to allow access, and base maintenance personnel started to pour onto the ship. "Well let's go see what the Admiral wants." Smith said. Crystal and David fell into step as they entered the turbo-lift ... Withing minutes the three were entering the enormous Command Center where the Head of Fleet Security had his office .......... oooooo000000oooooo ~ Mission 06 : The Simple Things ~
