The Black Tulip rocked from side to side under the incessant pummelling of weapons fire. Sparks flew from the back of the bridge as officers shouted to be heard over the hissing environmental systems. "Shields down to 30%!" Damion yelled at the top of his voice. "Return fire!" Elron ordered equally loudly. He could hardly hear himself over the relentless wailing of the red-alert klaxon. There was a scream of pain as the navigation console exploded and Cmdr ONE was thrown to the floor unconscious. "Shields down to 25%" the CTSO yelled again. The Bird-of-Preys continued circling and fired volley after volley at the starship Black Tulip. "Captain, two Borg cubes decloaking immediately ahead. They're on an intercept course and…" There was another explosion and yet another officer screamed in agony as his console blew up in his face, cutting off Quincy McCord mid-sentence. "What did you say?" Elron shouted back, craning to hear. The hissing was getting worse; it was like endless white noise and sending them all insane. Through the chaos a voice appeared, cold and hard and chillingly audible. [glow=gray,2,300]We are the Borg. Lower your defences. You will be assimilated. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.[/glow] "Oh right, I see what you mean now." Elron stared furiously at the view screen, as if looking at the Borg cubes hard enough might make them disappear. No such luck. =/\= Engineering to bridge, there's been a malfunction in the quantum positronic manifold relays. If we don't rewire the holonomic subspace converters, we could risk losing the interstitial warp field. =/\= "Acknowledged, mum. Do what you can." Things couldn't get much worse. It was at that moment that Elron knew exactly what they had to do. "Commander Disasterman," the he said, turning in his chair, "press… the button." There was a small gasp from the bridge crew when he said this. "Aye, sir." Disasterman replied gravely. The XO walked up to the back of the bridge and paused at the central console. There, amongst a plethora of smaller switches and lights, was an enormous red button. It was an old plunger-style button, rather like a giant mushroom growing from the console, and glowed with a burning internal red light. Across the top of it were emblazoned the words: REVERSE THE POLARITY DM took a deep breath as a hush descended around him, then pushed down sharply with both hands…
Elron sat bolt upright with a start. There was no explosion, no hissing, no noise of any kind. He was in his bedroom and his heart was thumping at double-quick time. He had been dreaming. If Avari had been equipped with sweat glands, he would have been drenched.
Taking five minutes to collect his thoughts and convince his heart that it didn't need to burst a hole in his chest, he eventually swung his legs out of bed and staggered over to the replicator. "Coffee… hot… now…" he managed to blurt out. He took a sip and screwed his face up in displeasure. "Eugh!" He wasn't overly fond of the stuff, but it was the one thing that would snap him out of his sleepiness. Well, the only thing he could do on his own anyway. After finishing half the cup and placing the rest back in the replicator, he threw on his uniform in his usual flurry. It was a style he'd perfected at the Omicron Fleet Yards whenever he had a morning meeting. He took a moment to straighten his Fleet Admiral pips, gave his hair a quick comb and strode out the door.
The coffee was beginning to kick in and he had a bounce in his step when he arrived on the bridge just a few minutes later. Stepping out of the turbolift, he saw that the place was in one piece. The navigation console was intact and the quiet hum of the ship was the only noise to be heard. With a smile, he sauntered down to the centre seat. "Captain on deck," Disasterman announced playfully from the XO chair when he spotted Elron. "Status report, Commander," Elron responded in kind, settling into his chair. "Not much to report this morning, Admiral. It's been fairly quiet since I got here. Ensign Conrad says the manifold relays will need re-tuning, but aside from that and our problem with the quantum shielding matrix, we're ship-shape and raring to go." Elron raised an eyebrow in mild surprise. He looked at DM for a few moments before quietly replying "Keep me posted on the status of those manifold relays." "Umm, aye sir," the slightly confused FO agreed.
"Course and speed, Ensign?" Elron asked the helmsman brightly. "Course laid in for Starbase Bellicose, slipstream factor 1; ETA: 12 hours and 37 minutes." "Thank you Ensign. We only have one slipstream speed, you know." The helmsman just grinned quietly to himself.
Elron leaned back, stretched out his legs and looked forward to another fabulous day on the fleet's flagship. It was great being a CO…

Bema sat on a sickbay biobed in knight"s armour. Holi was shaking her head. "Are you really this accidemt prone or do you just keep finding excuses to come in here?" Holi asked sounding kind of frustrated. "Doctor I'm happily married, I don't strain ligiments just to come to sickbay," Bema replied. "From the armour I can tell you were in the holodeck, but what were you doing Commander?" she again asked. "A knights tournament," Bema replied as he looked at a computer time display. "Done, try to be more careful Mr. Saberwyn," Holi said as she finished up. Good now I can go for my 13h shift on the bridge Bema thought as he headed for his quarters to change. Within a few minutes Bema was on the bridge.

"Afternoon, Bema!" Elron called cheerily as his CNO walked onto the bridge and took his seat at the conn. "You've got a long shift today, don't you?" "Aye, sir. I'm on late tonight," Saberwyn replied. "You can thank the Executive Officer for that," the Admiral quipped teasingly. DM looked up briefly from his padd. "Still, never mind; you'll be able to get some rest once we're back at the starbase and your shift is over."
It was a relatively uneventful trip back to the Majoris sector. SB Bellicose was obviously not the nearest Starfleet installation - Assailant was significantly closer - but the extra time it added to their ETA was not significant thanks to the QSD. Bellicose was where their new crew were waiting, since it was the Headquarters of the Second Fleet, and was better equipped to deal with the Tulip's problems. By late evening, they were within communications range of the starbase.
"Entering Majoris sector." "All right, contact the starbase and let them know we'll be there shortly. Once we're within ten light years, drop us out of slipstream and continue at warp. We should do our best not to advertise the QSD's existence if we can. Warp 8 ought to suffice. You can take care of the docking procedures yourself when the time comes. Elron stretched his arms into the air and made a yawning noise. "As for me, my shift's over now so I'm going to go relax in the bar. If I'm quick, I can find a seat with a good view of Bellicose."

Senior Marine Officer/ acting Chief Tactical/Security Officer: J'Ka says:Captain "Entering Majoris sector." Capt. Response was "All right, contact the star-base and let them know we'll be there shortly.
J'Ka:"Aye, sir."; Capt. since we do not want to advertise the QSD's existence it is my suggestion to add a couple of extra security personal to the engine room and other critical areas of the ship.
Capt.: I agree make it happen and keep me updated with the change.

Elron thought back to the intruder who'd made his way onto the ship the last time they were docked at Bellicose and nodded. "I agree; make it happen and keep me updated with the change." There was no sense in taking any risks while they were at Bellicose, so Elron asked J'Ka to pull up a shift roster for a permanent Marine presence in and around Main Engineering.
Just half an hour later, Elron was sitting in the officers' lounge with his regular glass of Thranduil and watched the stars streak past the windows at the side of the room. He'd managed to find the best seat for viewing the approach of Bellicose and they were nearly within visual range of the starbase. Of course, up on the bridge they had already magnified the image and put it up on the viewer, but Elron preferred to see it with his own eyes. It was the only way to appreciate the true scale of the facility. They had switched to warp some time ago and were making their final approach for docking.
Just then, Disasterman approached the Admiral and touched him on the arm. His shift had finished just a couple of hours before the Admiral's, and he knew where Elron was likely to be at this time. Elron looked up and smiled. "Hey DM, how're you?" He took a another sip from his glass and placed it gently on the table. "Fine thanks. Just thought I'd join you for the final approach." "Of course, take a seat." "I've got some more data on the manifold relays if you want it." Elron grinned slightly sheepishly. "No, it's fine thanks. I'm sure Conrad can handle a relay re-tuning." "If you say so." Elron took another sip from his glass and stared out the window. Eventually he said, "So what did you think of our last mission?"
[TAG: DM etc.]
OFF: Everyone is encouraged to post their plans for the very brief shore-leave we'll take from tomorrow. If no-one objects, we'll be back underway with our new crew members before the end of the week. Suggestions for missions are still very welcome! ;D

As Elron told the CNO to thank Commander Disasterman for giving him such long shift, Bema shook a playful fist at the XO. Bema took his station and started gazing over department personal reports. After several hours J'Ka told Admiral Elron they were in communications range. The admiral gave some instructions and left the bridge. J'ka transmitted a message to Starbase Bellicose as per the Admiral's orders after making a recommendation. Bema started thinking about his injury he had endured during his workout that morning. I know I had that knight in my sights, Bema thought to himself as he monitored the readings on the slipstream drive. A little while after Elron left the bridge J'ka looked up from his console. "Commander Saberwyn, we are within ten light years of the starbase," the 2nd Lieutenant said. Bema tapped a few buttons on his console causing the Tulip to drop of slipstream a few seconds later the ship had entered high warp. Bema looked at his watch and smiled. Good only fifteen minutes of this shift left, Lieutenant Commander Saberwyn thought as the ship moved into visual range. Bema took the ship out of warp and started docking procedures.

CMDRfc Disasterman had sat at the table watching the Tulip drop out of slipstream and into high warp while think about the question that Admiral Elron had just asked him.
"Disasterman, are you there. You look like you are light years away."
"Sorry sir, just was thinking of a response to the question. What did I think of the mission? Well it would have been nice to have known that the strange alien that landed while we were searching for the supplies to cure the Narojabs was none other than that creepy Tobias. If I had known I would have taken him out when I had been watching him in that window. Other than that, once I think it went fairly well, at least on the planet. We cured the radiation sickness and replaced the defective systems, at least the ones that wouldn't affect the planet's natural progression. The others we simply took away. We also went to some of the nearby communities and persuaded a few of the locals in those areas that it was safe to trade with the Narojabs again. Hopefully the word will spread and they will become a strong group again. I don't know what more we could have done, but I somehow feel there was something else that we should have done."
"Well DM, you know if you had done anything else it would have broken the Prime Directive more that what we had already done. Someday we will go back and check on them again. For now, we need to concentrate on a few days of RnR and then our new mission."
"Hmmmm, RnR, I have no idea what I am going to do. I may go into the Liaison office and clear out my desk since I wont be using it any more, at least for now. I will also recall my ship and turn it over to the tech team so they can do some more research into making a larger version and also hopefully they can install the cloaking device that we had been looking at for a while, but I'm not holding my breath on that. Some day I will bring it back onto the Tulip so I can have a way to travel around. I know that this isn't really relaxing, but it is things I need to get done before we head out on the next mission. I may take some time to get to know our new crew members and spend a little time in a holodeck. Oh, I just thought of something. Has anybody told Holi that we will be getting a new Doctor once we arrive at Bellicose? I know she will be hurt if no one tells her before they arrive, but she will also be relieved since she won't have to take care of everyone. I think I will leave her program as is so she can be an assistant Doctor for when Ensign Butari is off duty.
You know, I hadn't even thought about that. I think someone should tell her," Elron said with a sort of look that told Disasterman that he had just been volunteered to do it. "I agree with leaving her program alone. I have every confidence in Ensign Butari, but she may need some assistance, especially with our crew."
The two officers turned their attention to the approaching starbase. They both felt the Tulip slow down to impulse engines, then down to a stop. From their seats they had a perfect view of the docking tractor beam as it gently pulled the Tulip into it's berth.
When docking procedures had been finalized Bema called to Elron to confirm this. Elron tapped his communicator to make a shipwide announcement.
"Admiral Elron to all hands. We have docked with Starbase Bellicose. We will now begin shore leave. Everyone enjoy their time and please be sure to follow the duty roster if you have been asked to carry any shifts during this time. Thanks to those that volunteered to cut their time short. Everyone enjoy their shore leave, no matter how long it is."
With that shore leave began. The two senior officers sat there a little while longer discussing the last mission and throwing out ideas to each other about what to do on the next mission. All during this time Disasterman knew that he was stalling going down to sickbay, but he knew that he was going to have to go down there soon.

<On Starbase Bellicose> It had been a long a long two months since Tosin's first Starfleet assignment on the Jefferson. Even that posting was short lived. Starfleet felt as though Lobel was more useful aboard Section 47's second fleet flagship, the Black Tulip. Lobel watched from a window bordering the docking area as ships sluggishly edged their way into a docking formation. Tosin kept his eyes pealed for the mighty sovereign class ship which was due to arrive a little over an hour ago. "What is the hold up" Tosin thought to himself. He paced for a few moments until the PA system blurted "The USS Black Tulip has docked." Tosin grabbed his belongings and headed for the transporter room. "Black Tulip" Tosin said to the transporter chief. A second later he was aboard the state of the art sovereign class ship. Though he did serve on the Jefferson he didn't get enough time to really explore the ship thoroughly. "Welcome aboard the Black Tulip Ensign." The female transporter chief smiled. "Thank you" Tosin replied with a courtesy grin. After exiting the transporter room he looked up and down the corridors and was lost instantly. Looking down at the padd for his quarters assignment. Locating the nearest turbolift he took it up to the deck of his quarters and let the computer guide him the rest of the way. When he did reach his quarters he was pleasantly surprised with how well his quarters were furnished. Not to mention the fact that he had a terrific view of the starships passing by for docking. It had been a hectic day. Between packing and waiting Tosin felt as if he hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in a couple of days. He was in no mood to unpack and just put his belongings on the floor aside his bed. The first order of business was to meet his new commanding officer and report in. Lobel did think highly of his old commanding officer, Loskene but on the same token he also heard that Elron was quite the commanding officer. The sentiment was consistent with the fact that he commanded the flagship of the second fleet. "Computer, locate Admiral Elron." Lobel ordered The Computer complied "Admiral Elron is in the Officer's Lounge"Lobel left his quarters for the officers lounge. Again he had the computer bail him out of having to search for it on his instincts. When he got to the officers lounge it was packed. Most tables we're filled to capacity. Edging his way around the tables he kept his eye out for Elron while comparing faces to the picture he had of Elron on his padd. Over at a window seat he saw what appeared to be Elron with another officer. The other officer would appear to be Commander Disasterman. The only officer aboard the Black Tulip with a rank of Commander 1st class. "Captain, Commander, Counselor Tosin Lobel reporting for duty." Tosin said in an on-duty tone. <TAG: Elron, Disasterman> <OFF: Sorry, I know this post is a little tedious but I have to get aboard somehow >

{Getting aboard the BT .. finally}
Kayleigh had contacted the ship once arrived and made arrangements for her few belongings and her hoverchair to be transported to her quarters. She looked around her temporary quarters and smiled as she picked up her cane and made her way from them and through the corridors of the Starbase towards where the Black Tulip was docked.
She moved confidently through the corridors and stopped at the airlock leading to what would be her new home. The security guard asking for her orders, which she passed to him. Her uniform spotless and wrinkle-free. Her posture that of an officer, even with the cane she appeared as what she was, a Starfleet officer and proud of it. It didn’t take long for her to be allowed passage.
Kayleigh tapped the console in the corridor where she entered the ship. She knew she had to report to Admiral Elron, the CO.
=/\= Location of Admiral Elron. =/\=
The computer gave her the information she requested and she moved confidently towards her goal, the officers lounge.
Upon arriving she entered and made her way to where he stood with, it seemed at least one other new arrival.
“Ensign Kayleigh Butari, Medical Officer reporting for duty Sir.”
She saluted and held it.

Bema breathed a sigh of relief when his shift ended. Yes shore leave, Bema thought to himself as he called his department to the main observation lounge. "Here are your shifts for shore leave. I have scheduled that you all get seventy-two hours. Jaclyn, James and I will get the first set of shore leave, and then Ben, John, and Alex will get the second seventy-two hours. Oh and if someone sees Ensign Summer be sure to let him know he has the shore leave shift," the CNO said as he handed out the PADDs. "I need you three to start preparing our two new navigations officers for using the slipstream drive. Oh and I need to talk to J'ka but I think we will be able to continue our tradition," he starting with the least senior officers and finishing with his fellow Falcolvian knight. He finished the meeting and left the observation lounge. As the lieutenant commander entered the bridge he noticed the Marine officer and acting CTSO had finished his meeting with his departments. "Lieutenant could I speak to you for a moment," he asked after handing the last PADD to Lieutenant Brewster. 2nd Lieutenant J'Ka nodded as Bema moved up to the tactical station. "Shortly after I arrived here I started a tradition where my department would challenge another department in a game of capture the flag. The only difference is we use water guns to guard the flag," Bema explained with a grin. "How have you faired in these contests?" J'Ka asked. "Undefeated for two years. I would like to challenge you and your marine department to capture the flag," he finished and waited for a reply.[Tag: J'Ka] After Bema finished talking to J'Ka he walked to sickbay for his bi-annual checkup. After a few minutes he walked into sickbay to find a new face engaged in conversation with Holi. [Tag: Ensign Butari] OOC:Welcome officialy to the Black Tulip all new officers.

"Captain, Commander, Counselor Tosin Lobel reporting for duty."
Elron turned his head in mild surprise and looked up at the officer standing next to him. He lowered his glass of luminous orange liquid as he warmly replied "Ensign, very pleased to meet you." He stuck out his hand in a friendly greeting, which the Counsellor accepted and shook with solemn respect. "This is my First Officer, Cmdr Disasterman," Elron introduced with a wave of his hand. "Pull up a chair, if you can find one," he laughed. "You’ve arrived at one of our busiest times. Within a couple of hours I can pretty much guarantee that most of the crew will have finished their work here and will be taking advantage of the Starbase’s facilities." Tosin looked around for a chair, eventually finding a stray stool tucked under one of the tables, and joined his senior officers for a drink. "I take it you found your way here alright, having served on the Jefferson? It’s pretty much the same design, so that should help you settle in easily."
The Acting Ensign looked uncertain. "To be honest, sir, I never did find my way around the ship that well." "Never mind, you’ll have plenty of time to figure your way about this ship." "My orders, sir," Tosin said, handing his new CO the details of his transfer to the ship. Elron only skimmed the PADD before tossing it onto the table. This was a rather more informal reporting-in than the Counsellor had expected from a Fleet Admiral. "What’s your poison, Ensign?" "Sir?" "Your drink, what do you like to drink?" Elron smiled. "Ah, well, I have a rather eclectic taste. Would you recommend anything here?" "Whatever you do, don’t have that!" Disasterman pointed to the glass in the Admiral’s hand. Elron laughed. "No, I wouldn’t recommend this, it’s an acquired taste. We have a particularly good selection of ales behind the bar if you’re interested, or the whiskeys are my personal favourite." Tosin selected a drink and took in the scene around him. As a Counsellor, he knew you could tell a lot about a crew from the way they interacted. Elron likewise took subtle note of the way his Counsellor surveyed the room. The Tulip had had several Counsellors since he took command nearly five years ago, some more relaxed than others. Elron wasn’t someone prone to confiding his feelings to anyone, but he was forced to concede that the work of the Counsellor was central to how he monitored the performance of his crew. As long as Mr Lobel had no intentions of issuing them all a psych test, he was sure they’d get on fine together.
Disasterman was giving the new Counsellor a brief history of his service with the Tulip, when a second new face appeared at his side. "Ensign Kayleigh Butari, Medical Officer reporting for duty, sir." She gave a salute and stood to attention, holding the position firmly as she waited for a response. This took Elron by surprise, but he remembered to return the salute. "At ease, Ensign," he responded with a stifled smile. She handed him her assignment confirmation and orders, which Elron gave the same cursory glance he’d given to Tobias' orders. He was about to invite the doctor to join them at the table, but it seemed that Tobias had found the last available seat. He also observed that Kayleigh carried a stick with her, and suddenly remembered the prosthetic he’d read about it in her personnel file. His immediate instinct was to offer her his seat, which he did, but she politely declined. "Thank you sir, but I’m quite fine where I am." Elron wasn’t convinced, but thankfully at that very moment they were interrupted by the Senior Marine Officer over the comm system. =/\= J'Ka to Admiral =/\= "Go ahead Lieutenant," Admiral Elron tapped his badge. =/\= Sir, I need to see you immediately on the bridge. =/\= Elron frowned. "Acknowledged, I’m on my way." He stood up, drained his glass and excused himself. "Sorry Ensigns, but it sounds like my Marine Officer has something urgent to discuss. I do hope you enjoy your time on the ship, and I’m sure I’ll see you both again soon. Feel free to stay here and quiz our FO further – he’s not got anything important to do today anyway." He gave a mischievous grin to DM, then seemed to suddenly remember something. "Ensign Butari, I recommend you report to the main Sickbay when you get the chance so you can talk to our CMO. She's not your typical Starfleet officer, but she's an extremely skilled doctor and she's gotten us out of many scrapes. You'll be working closely, particularly for the first few weeks while you find your feet here." With that, he gave a quick smile and made his way through the crowd of officers to the bridge.
OFF: Sorry this wasn't posted earlier. I'd expected to get this posted about a week ago but I'm still having trouble with time. I recommend some of you join in Bema's traditional 'capture the flag' game (which usually ends up nice and wet, lol) while the rest of you get settled into the ship or relax on Bellicose. Alternatively, you're very welcome to start setting up a mission like J'Ka seems to be considering. I'll have a think about a plot for us, but I have a feeling the Vesuvius may be ready to join us in a joint mission before long. In the mean time, welcome to all the new crew members! You should feel free to commence simming straight away! ;D

Singh wandered his way to the bridge to find the captain/admiral hybrid. The experiment with the little spider bot had gone well until he had run it off a balcony. In the end he decided to wait until he added a forward terrain sensor before trying it again. Eventually he made it to the Tulip and then to the bridge and found the person who was under the most hassle. 'Daniel Singh reporting for duty' he said. The man turned around and did the half turn look down thing. 'Ah, Ensign Singh' he said 'I'm a bit busy now so if you'd like to go and socialise with the other crew before we leave again that'd be fine' 'Aye, sir' Singh replied He turned and left, heading not for the bar but for engineering. Three things needed to be done. First was that he needed to check the mechanics of the engine. Second was that he needed to make sure the consoles were accessible to his little hand device. Thirdly was that he needed to explain to the longer serving engineers why he was becoming CEO, not one of them.

OFF: I don't think we have a list for the Engineering Dept because it's been so long since we had a CEO. However, I'd like to create a permanent thread that lists all the officers mentioned as working in each dept so that we don't keep making up names. We have quite a few regulars now, particularly in Navigation and Science, so we should keep a record of them.
I'll have a look though all the previous posts to find names for Engineering, Science and Tactical. The rest of you can deal with your own depts

When Bema's physical was done he was paged to transporter room two. When the CNO arrived, the transporter chief told him his new navigations officers were ready to transport over to the Tulip. "Energize," Bema said. A few seconds later two ensigns were standing on the transporter pad. "Ensigns Nathanial Gosset and Rebbecca Thompson reporting for duty sir," they said in unison as they both stepped off the pad. "At ease ensigns. Welcome on board the USS Black Tulip, I am Lieutenant Commander Bema Saberwyn your senior officer. Come with me please," he said in his command voice. They trio walked out of the transporter room and headed for a turbo lift. "For the next three days you will work under Lieutenant James Brewster, Lieutenant (JG) Alexi Romanov, Lieutenant (JG) Jonathan Dowling, and Ensign Matthew Summer. You will study how to use our Quantum Slipstream Drive and run a simulator on operating this system. I have also assigned diagnostics on the Navigational deflector array and the Navigational sensor array, as well as aligning the torque sensors," he explained as they entered the turbo lift. He stated their destination and continued his orders. "After seventy-two hours, myself, Lieutenant Commander Jaclyn Goodspeed and Lieutenant Benjamin Pierce will relieve the other three and give you a proficiency exam on what you learned about the QSD. This exam will determine which one of you will pilot the ship when we leave Star base Bellicose after shore leave. We will also give you two a start on Air Combat Maneuvering for our shuttlecrafts. Another note is that in about six months I will be going an paternity leave but you will be left in the capable hands of my wife Katherine who is on maternity leave right now. Any questions?" Bema asked as the turbo lift stopped. Ensign Gosset and Ensign Thompson shook their heads. "Good, Mr. Brewster is expecting you. He will direct you to your quarters, after you take your stuff there you will start on the information on the QSD and I will see you in three days," he said. The two ensigns nodded and left the turbo lift. Bema stated his destination and sighed. I hope I didn't scare them for their for first shift on this ship he thought to himself as the lift headed for his quarters. A few minutes later he walked into his and Katherine's quarters. "Your late Bema," Katherine said as Bema walked into the quarters. "I had to meet the new navigations officers and I had my bi-annual checkup," he replied as he walked over to his wife and kissed her cheek. "I spent the day looking through computer records to find names for the twins. What do you think about Dashiell for our son and Dashara for our daughter?" Katherine said as they sat down at the table to eat dinner. "That is a really good name for our daughter, I was kinda thinking of naming our son Anakin," Bema said taking a fork full of pasta from his plate. "Well I can see we are at loggerheads with naming our son, let's get an outside opinion," she said taking a bite of her food. "I will be dueling with the admiral in the morning , I will ask him," Bema said. They finished their food and turned in for the night. The next morning Bema was standing in the holodeck with Admiral Elron. "Kate and I were talking about baby names last night and we seem to be having a disagreement," Bema said as he and Elron picked up their respective lightsabers. "We can agree on what we will name our daughter but naming our son is the point of the disagreement," the CNO said as he ignited his green lightsaber taking a high Soresu stance. "What name does she have in mind?" Elron asked he ignited his blue lightsaber and took a low Soresu stance. "Kate wants to name our son Dashiell, however I would like him to be named Anakin. You've been working on your Soresu fighting style," Bema commented as the two exchanged a set of blows. "What name do you think we should go with?" he asked the admiral as he prepared for another exchange. OOC: Tag anyone.

(OFF: Kayleigh was in the Observation Lounge, not Sickbay, so rearranging this so that it all fits with the posts that are up since I was LOA)Kayleigh smiled slightly at the Admirals hesitation before returning the salute. "At ease, Ensign," She rested lightly upon the cane, not really using it for support, her body finally relaxing slightly. As he offered her his seat, she respectfully shook her head. "Thank you sir, but I’m quite fine where I am."
In truth she didn’t like being treated different than those with two legs, it was never her intention to be treated special or different.
After the Admiral closed the COMM with the Marine officer he excused himself but not before turning to Kayleigh once more. "Ensign Butari, I recommend you report to the main Sickbay when you get the chance so you can talk to our CMO. She's not your typical Starfleet officer, but she's an extremely skilled doctor and she's gotten us out of many scrapes. You'll be working closely, particularly for the first few weeks while you find your feet here."
“Yes Sir, I will do that right away Sir.” she nodded politely watching as he moved through the crowd and out of the lounge.
Kayleigh didn’t stay long in the lounge but instead headed for sickbay as the Admiral had suggested. She’d read all about the EMH CMO and was curious about her. Most ships she knew had flesh and blood CMOs, not that it bothered her, she, herself was only partly flesh and blood and partly artificial. Many people considered her less than human at times due to her prosthetic, not that it mattered to her though.
Kayleigh was deep in conversation with Holi, the EMH when they were joined by the Chief Navigations Officer, Lt.Cmdr Saberwyn. Her first task it seemed was to help with the crew physicals. She worked quickly and confidently getting the Lt. Cmdrs. finished in no time. Her own would be last of the lot, and Holi or one of the other medics performing that.
It was always fun proving she was up to the task when new people came into the picture, many didn’t believe she could do the job she was assigned due to her physical challenges. <tag: anyone>

OOC: Sorry for the back post. "Ah Commander Saberwyn good to see you again," Holi said as Bema walked into Sickbay. "Ah Holi charming as ever, but I don't believe I have met you though," Bema said as he sat on a diagnostic bed. "I am Kayleigh Butari the new Medical officer," Ensign Butari said as she handed Holi a tricorder. "Bema Saberwyn," the Lieutenant Commander commented as he extended his hand for a handshake. "How's the shoulder?" Holi asked. "Just fine, still a little tender," Bema replied as the two doctors ran the equipment over his body. "Commander Saberwyn came in here before his last shift after suffering and injury on the holodeck," Holli commented as she closed the tricorder. "You are in fine health Mr. Saberwyn. Can you tell the missus she needs one last checkup before the delivery?" Holi asked as Bema stood up. Tag: Ensign Butari

Kayleigh took the Lt. Cmdrs offered hand in hers and introduced herself "I am Kayleigh Butari the new Medical officer," She turned back to the instruments and ran the tricorder over his body. Holi explained about his shoulder injury "Commander Saberwyn came in here before his last shift after suffering and injury on the holodeck". She grew silent as they completed his physical, taking the time to reread her findings as the Lt. Cmdr. stood up.
She shifted her weight while reading the tricorder, leaning heavily on the cane which she held in her hand. Her exercises and early morning practices sure came in handy when having to spend so much time on her feet.

Bema sat in a shuttle craft preparing for a flight sequence. It had been four days since he had been on shore leave. Admiral Elron had agreed with Katherine's idea for the name of Bema's unborn son. He tapped the commpannel. =/\=Saberwyn to Goodpeed. =/\= =/\=Goodspeed here. Go ahead Commander.=/\= =/\=Did you modify the other two shuttle's sensor systems?=/\= =/\=Aye sir. But why did you have me shut down the sensors on those two shuttles?=/\= There are times that equipment will fail. This task is to see how our new ensigns will handle these 'malfunctions'=/\= =/\= Oh I see. I am ready to launch.=/\= =/\=Good. Standby.=/\= He opened a channel to the other shuttle craft. =/\=Saberwyn to Ensigns Gosset and Thompson.=/\= =/\=Thompson here sir.=/\= =/\=Gosset here Commander.=/\= =/\=All craft prepare for launch.=/\= =/\=Aye Commander Saberwyn.=/\= =/\=Aye sir.=/\= =/\=Yes sir.=/\= He smiled at the speed of the replies. He opened up a fourth channel to the bridge. =/\=Saberwyn to Bridge.=/\= =/\=J'ka here.=/\= =/\=We are ready to launch.=/\= =/\=Acknowledged. Starbase Bellicose has cleared your drill. Your are clear for launch, good luck.=/\= =/\=Understood see you in a little while.=/\= Bema closed the channel to the bridge and reopened the channels to the other shuttles. Ok people we are clear for ACM exercise. Follow my lead and we will rendezvous at these coordinates. Make sure your phasers and torpedoes are offline and in war game mode.=/\= The three others acknowledged the signal as the shuttles took off. It only took a few minutes to get to the designated co-ordinates which. =/\=All craft begin ACM exercise=/\= He closed all but one channel. =/\=Jaci we are go. Execute ACM operation Omega.=/\= =/\=Copy that. I'll take the first shift as the hunted. Qqpla jawhee=/\= =/\=Understood. Qqpla milady.=/\= Jaclyn's shuttle moved toward the two than entered warp 2. The ensigns expectedly gave chase and set a pursuit course. Let's see if they take the bait,Bema smiled as he set a new course and engaged. The CNO pulled up the long range sensor readings on the other ships. He saw his second in command weave, tuck, and roll her shuttlecraft in rather odd patterns. Bema moved his ship into position and waited. The three ships sped by and Bema moved in, he also accessed the ensign's comm channels. =/\=Continuing pursuit. But where did Commander Saberwyn go?=/\= =/\=He is probably just waiting to see how we handle ourselves in this situation. Just fly Becca=/\= =/\=I don't buy that Nate. Some thing's not right, we can't keep keep chasing Commander Goodspeed.=/\= =/\=You're right I'm closing in on the commander.=/\= =/\=Nate no don't...=/\= But Ensign Gosset had already closed the channel. Time to work, Bema thought as he moved his ship in behind Gosset's shuttle he fired simulated phasers. The computer recorded a core breach on the shuttle. =/\=Saberwyn to Ensign Gosset. You are out of the simulation, you should have listened to your wingman.=/\= The Lieutenant Commander closed the channel and started scanning to find Ensign Thompson. He noticed a warp signature that looked similar to hers, similar but not identical. Clever girl he thought as he and Jaci started a pursuit course.

Angel had been late in getting to the ship, and she wondered how long it would be before she was chewed out for her latest stunt. She glided from the transporter room to the nearest turbolift, and she chuckled as she felt the wind going through her hair. She knew no one would forget her on her first day for sure.
She wasn't sure who the security officer was, but she hoped he was in a good mood, or she might be in big trouble from him or her alone. She stopped in the turbolift, hoping no one would say anything about her inline blades. She wanted to make it to her quarters and then up to the bridge before anyone reprimanded her for it. She wondered what kind of pranks she could pull on those here, but decided to wait awhile. ~Maybe a day or two, then the fun begins. That is if I am still here and not out the nearest airlock.~ She thought and chuckled again knowing that she was going to have a lot of fun on this assignment.
She made it to her quarters, and no one said a word about her opted shoes. She liked having these new wheels added to her shoes, and dropped her bag on her new bed. She wanted to report in quickly, and decided to see where the commanding officer was. She decided to go to the bridge to see what kind of mischief she could create, and to see who was going to chew her out. She knew it would be something to hear, and she didn't mind that part so much, as long as she had fun before hand.
With her latest assignments, she was used to commanding officer who gave her lectures often. She was a handful, and she knew if her father knew anything of it he would give her a lecture too, besides her grandfather would be giving her high fives and encouraging better stunts. She kept it low profile for now, and wondered if she should go over the top. She remembered the last prank she took part in, and decided it may be best not to get too crazy.
The turbolift ride up to the bridge was quiet and lonely, making it the best one so far. Angel didn't feel like chatting with a bunch of people, and she was glad for the solitude so far. She knew being the new Ops officer that wouldn't last long.
She reached the bridge in record time, and glided off the turbolift when the doors opened. She spotted the main chair, and found it empty. She stopped abruptly, and called out to see where the commanding officer was.
"Commander Angel Paris, reporting for duty." She declared, knowing that she didn't need anything bigger. She knew she was a declaration all of her own, and a smile spread across her face.

[Sickbay]
Kayleigh spent the rest of her shift doing crew physicals, using this time to meet and get to know the crew. By the time her shift was over she was tired, amazingly tired. It wasn’t like the work was physical in nature but it was overwhelming. She put away her equipment, bidding the EMH goodbye and took her leave of sickbay.
Kayleigh found herself heading for her quarters. It was time for a break, and a slight change in schedule. First something to eat, then some quiet time.
Not once did she show how tired she was, she waited till she was alone to slump against the side of the lift, which was heading for the observation lounge once again.
[In the lounge]
She found a quiet corner and sat down, a cup of tea resting on her knee. Her gaze aimed at the window nearby. It was amazing, she thought, such a short time ago she was in training, and here she was finally aboard a starship and heading into space.

After following the fake warp signature to no avail, Bema used all the long range sensors on the shuttlecraft. This girl is brilliant he thought as he picked up her warp trail. He opened a channel to Jaclyn. =/\=Saberwyn to Goodspeed.=/\= =/\=Goodspeed here sir. How can I help you?=/\= =/\=I've found our wayward ensign. I am sending you the coordinates. Randevous at this point and we will converge on her there.=/\= =/\=Acknowledged. Goodspeed out.=/\= They both closed the channel and headed for the other shuttle's cordinates. It didn't take them long to find the other ensign. She was in an asteroid feild darting all over the place. The shuttle stopped darting to and fro when the main window pointed at Bema and Jaclyn. A moment later the chase was on. Ensign Thompson darted all over the place to avoid her pursuers. She was close to avoiding them when Jaclyn pulled a rather unconventional approach. The pursuit continued for a long time until Bema moved to close in by putting him and Jaci off to one side of Ensign Thompson. It was then that the ensign surprised them all. Rebecca flipped the shuttle over the other two shuttles, she then reversed the thrusters to fall in behind them. With two quick phaser shots the two Lieutenant Commanders were out of the simmulation. The four shuttles rendevoused and quickly returned to the ship. Within twenty minutes they were back on the Tulip. Bema had Ensign Thompson accompany him to the bridge. Once in the turbolift Bema spoke up. "That was a very interesting move you pulled back there ensign. I am curious to find out where you learned a move like that?" Bema asked as the lift began to move. She stared at her supperior officer blankly then registered what he was asking her. She responded and they continued to converse as the lift moved through the ship. When the lift stoped Bema stepped out than turned. "Are you coming Ensign Thompson?" Bema asked. Rebecca was dumbstruck at this question. "Sir?" she replied. "I am the on duty bridge officer and I need a helmsman, that helmsmen is you Ms. Thompson," the Lieutenant Commander's tone was unmistakeable and uncompromising. She complied and left the turbolift following her supperior. After a few hours the turbolift opened again only this time the person entering the bridge was a full Commander. She asked where Admiral Elron was. "Admiral Elron is on the Starbase he and Commander Disasterman will return within the hour. Until then I am in forward command," Bema replied as he returned to the Captain's chair. "Commander Angel Paris, reporting for duty," she declared. Bema held his hand out for a hand shake. "Lieutenant Commander Bema Saberwyn, I am the CNO and ship's second officer. Welcome aboard Commander please take your station," he said as she took his hand.

She shook his hand. "Thanks, it is a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to working with you." She said, and then glided over to Ops. She got behind the station, and looked over things to make sure everything was in running order. She noticed a few things, and wasn't happy. It seemed someone got peanut butter on the console, not to mention a few other sticky food items. She wondered who was in charge of this station, and hoped that some answers would come shortly. Suddenly a short fat man came over to the station, and he seemed very shocked to see her there. He had a sandwich in his hand, and an ensign rank on his collar. He put the sandwich on the console, and stood at attention.
"As you were, now who are you, and why do you have food on that console?" She said not happy with this.
"I am Ensign Ritwort. The sandwich was for later. I didn't expect to see anyone here at this time." He said, and she wondered if he was responsible for the mess of her station.
"I take it the peanut butter and other sticky objects are your doing?" She asked, and he only nodded before he gulped and picked up his sandwich. "Ensign, no more food while on duty. You will also clean this mess off the console." She finished, and then looked over his appearance. She noticed he wore sandals, and some shirt that she didn't know. It wasn't a uniform, and she did her best to hide her boots for this one.
"I also want you in proper uniform when you come on duty." She said, and he didn't say or do anything. He moved to clean the station, and he put the sandwich in his pocket. She snapped her blades into her boots so she could walk instead of glide.

CMDRfc Disasterman sat at the table in the observation lounge as the ensigns introduced themselves to Admiral Elron. As Elron introduced the Commander, he just nodded and gave a small wave to the ensigns. When the new medical officer arrived he leaned over to Elron and said, "One of us needs to get down to sickbay and tell Holi that there is a new medical officer finally here and someday that Ensign Butari will be in charge."
Disasterman really knew that this was going to be his job, but he wanted to let Elron know why he was leaving. Disasterman excused himself from the table and left the lounge. Sliding down some of the ladders in the jeffries tubes and moving down some of the halls at a brisk pace he finally arrived in sick bay. He knew he had just a few minutes to talk with Holi before the ensign arrived.
"Hey Disasterman. Why are you here. You don't have any procedures scheduled. I don't need another upgrade, do I?"
"No Holi, nothing is needed to upgrade right now. Your program and the emitter are both at the peak performance I like them to be. I was just coming down here to tell you that we have a new medical officer that will be down here soon. She is just an ensign, but she will hopefully become the CMO someday. I know currently that is your position, but eventually, even with your current upgrade, your program will start having problems with the amount of time that you run. We won't ever "demote" you, but we will want her to be the chief."
"I understand. Thank you for letting me know this. I have just looked over her personnel file and have learned about her disability. We may need to modify some equipment to make it easier on her, but I will let her make those decisions, I will only make the suggestions."
The two continued talking about different things and were about to wrap up when ensign Butari walked in. "Oh, hello again Commander. Ensign Kayleigh Butari reporting for duty."
Holi and Kayleigh were so wrapped up in their conversation that they never heard the Commander excuse himself and leave sickbay. Disasterman roamed the hall for a little while and then decided to head over to the starbase for a little while. He headed into the office that used to be the Liaison Office that he ran. He packed up the last remaining items that were in the office and then reported to Admiral Clark that the office was officially closed and he was heading to clean out his quarters. The Admiral thanked Disasterman, but told him that he didn't have to clean out the quarters. Disasterman explained that he would most likely be living on the Tulip from then on and wouldn't need the quarters. Admiral Clark hesitantly agreed to the closing of the quarters.
Disasterman returned to his quarters on the Starbase and packed up everything to be taken over to the Tulip. He spent the night on the starbase before officially closing out the quarters. The next morning he helped move his belongings over to his quarters on the Tulip. By the time everything was moved it was about time for his duty on the bride. Quickly taking a shower and then changing into his uniform, Disasterman headed to the bridge for his shift.
After arriving on the bridge, Disasterman took the main chair and ran thru the crew manifest. He noted that all the new crew had reported in, but he had yet to meet all of them. CMDRfc Angel Paris was the only one he had yet to meet. He had heard alot about her, but was not going to use that to make any judgments. He would treat her like any other new officer that he had never met. Noting the duty schedule, he noticed that her second shift was to start near the end of his. This would give him the chance to meet her before the next mission started.
