'There is nothing for it' Calli thought, frustrated. She needed to find the Raven's crew, and wandering around second-guessing where they may have headed to simply wasn't working !
Checking the coast was clear, she raised the PADD.
"Location ... Administration Center ?"
* Follow orange indicator *
"Thank you." she said un-necessarily, then began to follow the illuminated marker.
~~~~~~~~~~
It took her thirty minutes to find Admin, but that was the easy part. Once she entered the complex she looked round quickly, thankfully eying what she needed.
"Name ?"
The question almost made her jump out of her skin before she regained her composure and turned, her heart almost stopped as she came face to face with Gaain.
"I asked your name ?" he said again, frowning at her hesitation.
"My apologies. I am new here and was concentrating on finding my station. My name is Llaik."
Gaain looked at her for a long moment.
"Is there a problem Sir ?" she asked, her outer appearance a façade of calm, while her insides threatened to throw themselves all over the mans boots.
"No ...." he said after a minute, "A supply vessel should have docked over an hour ago. Contact the home planet and find out what the delay is. I will be in my office."
Relieved, Calli turned away. She had got only a few steps when someone shouted to Gaain. Both of them turned at the same time, but while Gaain's expression turned to one of surprise, Calli's was pure shock ... For walking up to Gaain were three men. The two on each side were obviously guards, but it was the person there were escorting that shocked her to the core.
"Commodore Torek." Gaain said, a broad grin forming on his face, "It is good to see you again. I trust you enjoyed your little excursion through our humble base ..... I see you are confused at how we managed to capture you. Well I need to tell you, we have been tracking your movements since shortly after you spoke to one of the crew ... You could not know that in our society we do not have 'male' nurses of course, but it was a good try I must admit."
"We will not be held Gaain." Calli watched Torek reply, but Gaain raised his hand.
"Oh you are not the first to be captured. We have all your crew Commodore, and we are going to use more 'persuasive' methods to get at that ship of yours." Gaain said, then turned to speak to one of his staff. In that moment Calli's heart leaped as Torek looked directly at her for a second. So they at least knew Gaain was lying regards having the whole crew, "Take him to my office, we shall talk later I'm sure, but for the moment I have things to see to."
"Like completing the device ?" Torek said, getting Gaain's attention, "We know it isn't the Vezi constructing the device. Let's face it, NO rebel group could put this place together in the time you were talking about, nor could it possibly be kept secret."
"A fanciful idea Commodore, very fanciful indeed." Gaain grinned, waving to his men to move Torek to the office as he left Admin. Calli watched them move Torek then went to the nearest panel. She needed to locate the others and fast. If they slipped up in assigning Torek as a nurse, she hoped none of the others had roles that made them stand out ..........
In their search for Catley, Will and his men came across what appeared to be some sort of medical lab. They had determined that Mr. Watson had been smart enough to issue them Security IDs which allowed them to move around quite easily. As they began moving through the lab, one of the men at stopped what he was doing and turned to them.
"Good. You've brought...." the man began before stopping himself and eyeing Jamison and his men. "Where is the prisoner?" he asked. "I was told that a Starfleet officer was being brought to me."
Seeing as the man was wearing a lab coat, Will decide to chance it.
"My apologies, Doctor." he said. "We are all new to the facility and are still trying to learn our way around. This place is so enormous. I don't see how anyone doesn't get lost."
"Understandable." replied the other man. "And not bad for your first time out. You came very close. The cell is actually on this leave and two stations over." he continued as he headed for the corridor. "However, if they would have taken the time to train you on the systems, this would have made it easier for you."
He moved to a wall console and began speaking.
"Computer. Please show me the location of Cell # 4, Station Omega."
*The location you requested is being shown now. Please follow the green trail.* answered the console.
A second later, Will saw a green line appear on the wall.
"Just follow that line to the prisoner and than back to me. Think you can handle that?" he added sarcastically.
"Yes, Doctor. Let's go." Will said to his men.
They couldn't believe their luck. As far as they knew, Catley was the only prisoner left. And now they were going to free him and start looking for the others. They followed the line straight up to a cell but when they looked inside, it was empty.
"There's no one here, sir." said Lane. "The cell is empty."
"Not any more." came a voice from behind them.
Before Will and his men could react, they were surrounded by 6 guards.
"Welcome to your new home." their leader said. "Now get inside."
The three Starfleet officers walked in like they were ordered. Lane and Green sat down on the bunk as the forcefield was activated.
"Don't look so lost." Will told them. "We aren't licked yet. The Commodore is still out there somewhere."
At least, I hope he is. Will thought as he turned back to the doorway.
Perhaps it was worth a shot, he thought.
Blakus peered into the cavernous room once again, eyeing the movements of personnel so that he might take an opportunity to dart across the large space towards the device. He'd circled the room over the last half hour, scouting out the whole complex and trying to learn more without giving himself away.
He moved further around, so that the science team that continued to take scans of the scorched exhaust port were above him and to his left. From this vantage point, the device towered over him, cutting off the distant ceiling lights and casting a shadow across part of the bay and up the adjacent wall from which he watched. He considered the metal construct; something about it stirred him, in a manner whose nature he didn't know. Only something told him it could assist in getting the crew back to the Raven.
* * *
It was meant to fire something. Andae had snuck into a tight space between two darkened walls that jutted from near the top of the device, as if they were a part of some surrealistic battlement. Along one wall was a bank of graphical displays bordered with function buttons. Andae's passage up to the place had been unhindered and he remained alone even now, studying the displays.
He couldn't believe he'd managed to get a glimpse at such detailed data; the problem was he had no idea what all the alien glyphs and strange text meant, and could only work off the diagrams. It did not look good. It was meant to fire something. But did that make it a weapon? Or was it something more in the style of a deflector dish; something that held a functional non-combat role but could be employed in a tactical capacity if needed.
The thought of its potential to help the crew back to the ship crossed his mind, making him smirk. Whatever had given him that idea had certainly come from a strange place...
As the thought occurred to him, a hitherto-unseen automated shutter started rolling open in the wall of the chamber. It faced the tight space of the graphical displays, the spot Andae had found which was barely five metres from the edge of the chamber, albeit about forty metres above the floor. He noticed the opening shutter immediately, but there was nowhere to go.
It was obviously some sort of control room, and the man behind it saw him instantly. Andae wore an expression of shock as he stared back at the pair of eyes. It was Taarh. The Vezi's face contorted into rage and he turned to hurl orders at people behind him, his words unheard to Andae as the window and wall seemed to completely mute sound.
Andae ran to the metal grate elevator unit at the end of the short passage. He, unlike Catley, Harton and perhaps others, was not going to be captured, or worse!
"So what exactly do we need to do?" Alex asked as he walked with Jenny down the corridor.
"Well, we need to manually check the launcher to see if there are any faults, and then run scans on the other nineteen. Damn Stivali to hell, this is going to take hours!" she snapped as she marched a step or two ahead of him.
"What's the hurry?" asked Alex, trying to sound nonchalant.
"This was supposed to be my afternoon off! My first one in three months! And now, thanks to some knucklehead engineer, I'm going to be stuck running tests when I could be lying in my quarters drinking cherry juice and listening to music! If I could bring him back to life, I'd kill him all over again!"
"Sorry," Alex offered. Jenny stopped, turning to face him. Her expression was curious, and Alex half thought he might have offended her.
"You really mean that, don't you?" she said slowly.
"Mean what?" Alex replied,
"That you're sorry. You know you're the first person I've met here who apologises for anything. Everyone else is so..." she trailed off, and Alex tried to force his face to remain calm. Jenny smiled, leaning in and planting a small kiss onto Alex's cheek. He flushed a little, but smiled back.
---
"Well this one seems fine. No detectable faults. I'll let the two Ones finish up their scans though." Alex said as he strode over to Jenny on the gantry that surrounded the device.
"I didn't think so. What a waste of time."
"Yeah. Think I might join you for a glass of that cherry juice. But we might need something stronger after we've scanned through all the other launchers."
Jenny laughed. "I'd like that," she said.
Alex turned his head away, hiding his grin, and as he did he saw something that made his smile slide off his face like slime. Commander Blackus was in the shadows at ground level, and he'd been hurt. The skin of his face was red and blistering, and Alex thought he knew why. There was no way to try and communicate with him other than with the devices he had given each crewmember. Did he dare risk it?
"What's wrong?" Jenny asked, breaking Alex's reverie and making him jump. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Oh, it's nothing. Just feeling a little dizzy is all, it's being high up, I expect. Shall we get back to the lab then? We can start running the other scans."
"What fun," Jenny quipped. "You certainly know how to show a girl a good time."
Alex laughed despite himself, and wrestled for a moment in internal struggle - torn betwen wanting to stick with his crewmates and wanting to appear authentic - then turned to the two other officers he had brought with him from the Raven.
"You two finish up here and join us back in the main lab. We'll get started on the scans of the other launchers."
"Yes sir," came the response from Petty Officer Shinsky. Alex turned to Jenny, and jokingly offered his arm,
"Miss Gerson, would you be so good as to join me for an evening of monotonous computer work and tedious bureaucracy?"
"How could I resist?" she said, taking his arm with a smile. Together they set off back in the direction of the lab.
The searing heat from his blistered skull and hands had come back strongly, as if his mind sensed the predicament he was in and had sent all his senses into a whirling maelstrom of hurt. He shuffled back slightly in his ground-level hiding place as the inevitable patrols came by, and tried to think of how he could get out while remaining completely unseen.
"Move along now.." he whispered, as the patrol men - doubtlessly sent by Taarh - gradually meandered in his direction. "I hope you haven't seen me."
They stepped a few more feet towards his hiding place, before turning to his left out of the bay. Andae relaxed. He considered it the height of misfortune to have been discovered by Taarh; up at the top of the weapon, or device or whatever it actually was; he didn't want to add his capture to that bad luck.
A number of minutes passed and the engineer hadn't found a solution to his problem. The only conceivable option he could consider was somehow creeping from the bay, and making it back to the place from which he and Harton had set out.
And still more people came by. What now..? He raised his head above the hunk of metal that obscured it, and got a look at the faces that belonged to the legs he'd seen. To his surprise he recognised the faces.. NCOs; Badel, and Shinsky. Science officer Watson could be near. He scrabbled around on the ground around him, looking for something small and solid, and finding a small piece of styrofoam-type material.
The engineer lobbed it in Shinsky's direction, presently attracting the two's attention and causing them something of a surprise as they saw their ship's chief engineering officer crouched in the corner of the bay. "Commander.."
He hushed them before breathing a sigh of relief. "At last, friendly faces."
He had them take him as their prisoner - the so-called oldest trick in the book - and directed them to get him to a medical bay. If they could pass him off as being sent for medical treatment, before his being sent off for interrogation for his part in the 'accident', then there was a fair chance they could all escape from this situation.
The medical staff had seemed curious but had accepted the engineer and the escorting NCOs nonetheless. Andae was laid down on a treatment bed, and as the nurses moved away he whispered to Shinsky and Badel before they departed. "Obviously inform Watson of what's happened here, and what I've discovered about the Vezi's possible building of a weapon. Recommend that if he can contact any of the other senior staff," Andae paused to wince in pain, as heat as if from a bare flame flourished across his cranium, "Then he should probably do so, and we should try and reconvene. I also saw Taarh," he finished.
<Tag Watson>
The NCOs nodded, going off to rejoin their officer, and as Andae watched them go the pain became too much to bear. He studied the burns on his hands, frowning at the intensity of the resurgent pain. He looked on, shocked, as some of the destroyed skin started pulsating, gently bubbling under the heat. There was nothing to be done though; he'd left himself at the mercy of the Vezi medical officers, and his last thought before inevitably passing out was a hope that Taarh's patrols hadn't informed all the staff of his recent sighting.
TBC (Two captured, one unconscious in a medical bay... aargh!)
She had to think ... Security reports would be the obvious place to start, but that was going to set alarm bells ringing she thought, so, where to look ... Then it came to her ... She grinned then moved toward the office.
"Where do you think you are going ?" one of the guards said.
"You have arranged for the prisoner to receive a meal at some point then ... We have over one hundred people in detention for one reason or another, and ALL of them are entitled to eat !"
The guards looked at each other before the first spoke again. Telling her to arrange something. If it wasn't to the 'prisoners' liking then he would just have to go hungry.
"How you treat detainees on the home planet is your concern. But while I have been tasked with the mundane chore of making sure they all eat, then I will at least see to it they do so." Calli replied, adopting a no-nonsense stance. Which worked as the two stood aside, loosing interest in the conversation instantly as she stepped through the doorway.
To say her Commanding Officers' face was a picture of surprise was something of an understatement as he looked up.
"Wha .... Where are the Chi ...." he began, but Valenti put a finger to her lips then pointed toward the door. Torek nodded silently. Waiting as she checked they were not being listened to, then sat beside him, closer than etiquette normally allowed for, but needs must.
"The Children are back on the Raven. I have a detailed route to the shuttle-bay used to get there, but ... From what I can figure out there are at least three, maybe four of our crew captured. Gaain wasn't totally bluffing when he said he had all of us ....." she turned to the door, double-checking, then continued, "I think they have Commander Jamison and a couple of junior staff held only meters away in Detention Three. It's possible someone has been injured, but I can't access Medical or Security without raising flags."
"What about Commander Blakus, Watson, and our Marine, Tavik ?" Carl said, frustration growing.
"Could be that one of them is in the Med Center, but again, without going there I couldn't say ...... We need to get you out of here Commodore. I'll have a meal sent in. Wouldn't surprise me if this stuff didn't agree with you, might even need medical help, if you catch my erm, drift ... Sir ?" she finished, raising her eyebrows.
Carl nodded his understanding and Calli got up and as she opened the door she turned to the prisoner.
"You should be thankful we're feeding you at all." she threw into the room, then she turned to the guards, "Maybe you were right."
Checking her PADD for directions, but this time omitting the light indicator, she had little choice. Given it was only a matter of time before she too was recognized, she needed to go to Detention Three and check who was being held, and tell them to figure a way out of there ..........
She followed the indicated path toward Detention Three. Turning one corner she couldn't quite believe what she was looking at. She checked the plans on the PADD, confirming the room wasn't on there.
Checking up and down the corridor, she ducked into the room.
"That's definitely a transporter." she said out loud, moving to take a better look. The equipment was on and running, that showed it was in constant use, so it wouldn't raise any alarms should she start playing. Checking the targeting systems, she scanned the area of the nebula that she thought the Raven was hidden, and almost yelped for joy as the ship appeared on the screen. A little fine tuning and she managed to locate Transporter Rooms Two and Three on the ship ... Now for the hard part ...
Switching to internal scanning, she paused. The system showed well over two thousand personnel on the base. She needed to find the Raven Officers. She knew the location of Commodore Torek, and the fact that at least three Officers were being held in confinement, while one was in the Medical Center ...
She scanned the main administration section, and could see Torek, his half Vulcan physiology helping segregate him. Next the Med Center.
"YES !" she said, jumping off her feet. One person in the Med center stood out, so she knew the transporter could define the minute differences between Humans from their own dimension, and those from this one. Telling the transporter to lock onto all Humans from her own dimension, she stood back as it showed eleven signatures, including her own ...
"OK, it just can't be this simple ....... Can it ?" she asked herself, doubting herself, then she heard voices approaching. Telling the system to save all locks, she cleared the screen and just managed to duck behind the console as two guards entered the room.
"I could have sworn I heard something in here."
"You know these Engineer types, They have left the system running, maybe we caught a Comm echo or something, I'll power the transporter down."
"Hell no." the first guard said, "Not as if we're short of power is it, and it's possible it's still on for a reason. Do you want to be the one to explain to Gaain if anything were to go wrong."
"Yeh, hadn't thought of that ..... Let's go."
Calli heard the door open then close. She waited a few seconds then took a tentative glance round the console ... She was alone. Recalling the transporter locks, she tried to judge when each of the crew were relatively alone, difficult given the circumstances. But eventually she thought no-one was in close proximity to any of the Raven crew ...
"Well ....... Here goes nothing." she said, and activated a five second delay for the multiple simultaneous transports. The Senior Staff would, should, she thought, crossing her fingers superstitiously for a second, go to Transporter Room Two, while the others would re-appear in Three ... Running to the pad she held her breath and felt the tell-tale tingle as the system grabbed her. The room shimmered then disappeared.
~~~~~~~~~~
She could see the room re-materializing before her. Once she was fully reintegrated she looked round quickly. Blakus was on his back, understandable given her had been on a Bio-bed seconds earlier. Everyone else was momentarily confused, but that didn't last as they jumped off the transporter pad.
Calli ran to the console and hit the Comm ...
=^= Transporter Room Two to Sick-bay .. Medical emergency .. Get someone down here NOW ! =^=
She turned to Torek, unable to stop a massive grin forming.
"Welcome back to the Raven Commodore." ..........

Alex was laughing, something that he hadn't done anything of in the last twenty four hours or so. It felt good, and he made a mental note that he should laugh more often in potentially lethal and undoubtedly insane situations. On the seat across from him, Jenny was laughing as well, tears running down her cheeks as she related the story.
"And then...and then Taarh picked himself up out of pile of tools, and started screaming at everyone about the oil spill. And we're all stood there biting our knuckles to keep from laughing!" Alex creased up, thinking his diaphragm might not take much more of this punishment. "And finally, he takes one step towards one of the poor damn mechanics, looking like he's about to shoot him, slips in the same bloody leak as before, and knocks himself out on one of the coolant pipes!" Alex shook his head, utterly incapable of speech. His face was scarlet from the blood-rush caused by the hilarity. After a minute or two, he managed to regain some sort of composure to ask a question.
"So what happened? Did anyone get punished?" he asked, still red-faced.
"That's the beautiful thing," said Jenny, "He was out for blood, but Gaain heard about it and put it down to a fault with the automation. Taarh couldn't do a thing to anyone!"
"Wow," said Alex, still chuckling. "I guess that explains why he's always looking so sour." He felt a tap on his shoulder, and looked up to see Shinsky and Badel standing over him.
"Could we have a word, Scientist Two? In private?"
Alex faked looking confused for a moment - inside, his heart started to pound - and then looked with a shrug at Jenny.
"I'll be back in five minutes," he said casually.
"Sure thing, I've got a couple more to tell you. I can't believe you haven't heard these stories."
"Well. Keep myself to myself mostly. All about the job, you know?" he said with a grin, before waving casually and setting off with the two NCOs.
====
"What is it, you two?" he asked, worried, when they had reached a safe distance.
"We've had contact with Commander Blakus, sir," said Shinksy. "He's in a bad way..."
They related the rest of the story quickly, and Alex's face faded equally quickly from ruddy red to pale grey.
"Crap. Sounds like I'm the only one left free or unincapacitated. I'll see what I can do. Maybe I can wrangle having them assigned to me as a labour detail...after all, they're the reason I've been working all night. It might just fly. Nice work you two, now continue acting. Their lives might depend on us NOT getting caught." The two NCOs nodded their agreement, and headed off for the main lab. Alex turned back to head for Jenny's quarters, which was where they were conducting the long, boring and time-consuming task of scanning the launchers...before they'd got side-tracked.
Alex had his hand on the opening pad for the door, and it slid open with a soft pneumatic hiss.
"So anyway, the next time he comes...." Jenny began, turning to face him, but there was only an empty doorframe.
"James...?" she asked.
===
"Well, I'm back!" Alex announced as he took a step, walking straight into Commodore Torek on the transporter pad next to him. Staggering backwards, and nearly tripping off the pad steps, he regained his balance. His jaw dropped, and he looked around, rubbing his eyes in disbelief.
"How?" he began, before noticing Commander Blakus on the floor, burned as before. Valenti was running to the communicator. She hammered the button and screamed "Transporter Room Two to Sick-bay .. Medical emergency .. Get someone down here NOW!"
In his haze of disbelief, something clicked back into place.
"Commander!" Alex said urgently, "It'll take them too long to get here and back, he needs help right now!" Calli swore under her breath.
"I'll get him!" said Alex grimly, fitting an arm under Blackus' head and the other under his knees and lifting. He took a deep breath, and hefted Blakus onto the now empty transporter pad. Calli rushed to the controls, pressing the communicator stud on the console.
"Scratch that last, sickbay. Two to beam directly to you. Stand by." She moved her hands over the console, and Alex and Andae shimmered for a moment, and were gone.
[Modified: I forgot that there were still people on the Raven. My bad, hope this is better!]

In the medical bay on Sanctuary, the prisoner woke up one more time just before he mysteriously disappeared. Andae had remained unconscious for thirty minutes, during which time the nurses and the doctor present had started tending to his wounds.
Most or all of the man's hair had been burned away, parts of the skin destroyed too, and replaced with red, patchy marks that for the medical staff were painful just to look at. But they had a job to do and they intended to do it - and did so until a trio of security came in and ordered them away. The security guards told the furious doctor the truth of the situation, how the patient was an intruder and he was not to be treated.
Why however, the doctor thought, they'd left without taking the intruder with them was a mystery. He was to be left as he was; dying, apparently. And later they would return for him.
At first, Andae's injuries had not seemed extensive enough for him to be at risk of death, but somehow the wounds he'd suffered had reheated at the source, and his condition had got progressively worse. The doctor had to virtually tie hands behind his back to stop himself from treating the man, and he watched how the burns bubbled and caused small parts of the skin to melt. All he could do was administer a series of local anaesthetics.
The engineer's eyes shot open, his mind instantly aware - it having allowed him little opportunity for real rest. He'd been expecting pain, but strangely felt only numbness. An attempt to move was rather unsuccessful; he thought it best for his own safety to stay still.
Had Badel and Shinsky reached Lieutenant Watson? he thought. If the Vezi were truly building a weapon...
The engineer cleared his head. No; first of all, they had to find a way back to the Raven. Once back there, they could evaluate what they had seen aboard Sanctuary and...
He gasped in surprise as the wash of cerulean blue took him.
* * *
When he materialised on the pad in the Raven transportation room, he was once more unconscious. He'd known that he'd been beamed away however, and because of that his shock upon waking in sickbay was lessened.
"Commander. Commander...?"
Andae sat up with a start, "Yes, I'm here." He blinked, realising he was in sickbay. The person before him came to focus, and he recognised the man as one of the Raven's nurses.
Propped up on the biobed he surveyed the room, seeing that there were a number of medical personnel present, although less than he might've expected. No Vezi in sight. His attention was attracted to the left. "Lieutenant Watson," he croaked, "Good to see you properly at last. We somehow managed to avoid each other on the station -" He seized up in pain and the nurse came over to administer a hypospray; he had to lie back down.
The science officer told Andae how they'd all been beamed aboard just moments ago. However, what state the Raven was in and whom was actually running it was still unknown to them. "Nurse!" Andae called, waiting for him to come over, "What's the situation? Who's in charge of the ship?"
Suddenly something drew him off, and he felt himself tunnelled into something. There was a gap, an absence of memory or something like it, in his head. He couldn't explain it, couldn't visualise what it meant, but something was missing. A large, dark hole had set itself at the centre of his consciousness; a tide of confusion overtook him. Where was he now? No, where actually was he?
He turned back to Watson. "Let's get out of here, shall we? I'd suggest the bridge if that's where everyone's going."
"You're in no condition to leave, Commander," the rigid voice of the acting CMO cut through sickbay.

Will had spent the better part of an hour working n removing the wall panel that was just behind the cell control console on the outer wall. He had just give what he hoped was the last hard tug on the panel when he felt himself being caught in a transporter beam.
"Ah sh...." was all he got out.
A few seconds later he rematerialized and the momentum from the pull continued, sending him flying backwards and landing flat on his rear end and completing his statement.
...it!'
Green rushed over to assist him up.
"Are you hurt, sir?" Green asked.
"Only my pride, Ensign." replied will as he rubbed his right buttocks.
He quickly realized that they now stood in Transporter Room One, on board their ship.
"We're back aboard the Raven!" he exclaimed. "We need to make our way to the bridge. But stay alert. We don't know who else is here."
After removing some phasers from the weapons locker in the transporter room, Will stuck his head out the doors as they parted and did a quick scan of the corridor.
"It's clear. Let's move."
Followed by Green with Lane taking up the rear, Will led his band of merry men down the corridor and toward the turbo lift. He was instantly transformed back to CTSO mode. Secretly, there was a part of him that missed this kind of thing. But the other part of him loved being on the bridge in the XO seat. He was learning quite a lot about running a Federation starship. And that was his ultimate goal. To have a ship of his own some day.
As they rounded a corner, they all but ran over Commodore Torek and Commander Valenti.
"Sir." Will said in surprise. "I knew you'd find a way to get back on the Raven."
The Commodore just nodded his head toward Valenti and smiled.
"It was all her, Will." he said.
Jamison gave the commander his own nod of appreciation.
"Glad you're aboard with us this time." he said before turning back to his CO. "We were just headed for the bridge, sir. Care to join us?" he asked.
They all entered the turbolift and began their ascend to the bridge.
"Phasers on stun." ordered Will as the lift came to a halt and the doors began to part.

"You're in no condition to leave, Commander," the rigid voice of the acting CMO cut through sickbay.
"I agree, commander. You took a hell of a cooking," said Alex gently, "I've been liaising with the Doctor about the nature of your injuries and the machine that gave them to you." The chief Medical Officer nodded and turned to face Andae.
"Your injuries are not simple burns, commander. There was a concentrated blast of radiation that accompanied the vented heat. It was of the type that would normally neutralise itself within a few seconds in air, but you were exposed to a direct dose of it. Your condition is under control, commander, but as Chief Medic I must insist that you remain here under supervision." Andae leaned back onto the bed, seemingly too weak to physically resist.
"I'll go and find out what's going on, commander," said Alex. "I'll report back here in a little while to let you know. In the meantime...get some rest, sir," he patted Andae's shoulder respectfully, and turned to leave.
<Tag Blakus>
Once outside the medical suite, he tapped his commbadge, setting it to the Commodore's frequency.
"Watson to Commodore Torek."
"Torek receiving, what is it?"
"I've just left commander Blakus in sickbay, sir. He seems to be recovering slowly, but the doctor seems doubtful he'll be up on his feet any time soon."
"Acknowledged. Myself and Commander Jamison are en route to the bridge."
"Acknowledged, Commodore. I recommend caution until I can run a full analysis of the computer systems. It would be wise not to unlock the control circuits just yet."
"Acknowledged. Was there anything else?"
"Yes sir. With your permission I'd like to hold a briefing in half an hour with what's left of the command staff. I managed to get rather a lot of intel, sir. I think you'll all find it enlightening."
"Alright Watson, report to the ready room in twenty minutes. I'll signal the rest of the command staff to report there."
"Thank you sir, I'll head to the bridge as well. I need to run checks from the science station there. Watson out."
He tapped his commbadge again, cancelling the broadcast. With a look of mixed anguish and triumph he looked down at the PADD he was carrying, the same PADD he had been working on with Jenny, and the same PADD that had been caught in the transporter beam and beamed on board with him. Whether or not it would be compatible with the Raven's systems was uncertain, but he did not think it would be too difficult.
Moving through the corridors, he entered his quarters and opened the drawer by his desk. He took out a small Type One phaser and concealed it around his waist. What he was about to suggest in his briefing was madness, but on the off-chance that it got the go ahead, he thought that he'd better have a last-ditch backup weapon.
Putting the ring on his finger, he took a deep breath, and walked into the turbolift at the end of the corridor.
"Bridge," he said assertively, and whistled under his breath.
"Here goes nothing..."

"Eager beaver isn't he. Might need to promote him soon." Will commented, laughing at his own humorous comment.
"Hmm, not like we haven't seen that eagerness somewhere before, is it." Torek replied as they stepped onto the Bridge.
Carl sat down as the doors of the second turbo-lift opened and Watson arrived. He nodded silently then moved to the Science Station.
"Will. Check crew compliment .... Helm, back us away from Sanctuary ... SLOWLY ... The last thing I want to do is leave a wake. Move us to twenty thousand kilometers, then move us laterally one twenty degrees clockwise around the station ... Hold us there. Will, move the meeting to the observation lounge ....." he said, standing then heading for the turbo-lift, "I'm going to check on Bethan. You have the Bridge."
"Aye ... Sir ....... Crew all accounted for by the way." Will said to the already closed doors of the 'lift before seating himself in the Command chair.
~~~~~~~~~~
Moments later Carl's seven year old Daughter ran and jumped into his arms as the door to their quarters opened. Vanessa ran to him, hugging him tightly around the waist.
"How's my girls doing ?" he asked kissing them both on their foreheads then setting Bethan down. Chloe said they had been fine, but it was obvious she was glad to see him back safe and well .... He hoped Will would give him a few minutes before having to leave them once again. But at least he knew their situation was in their own hands now, and not Gaain's. It was all he could do not to destroy Sanctuary immediately, but he would give his Science Officer chance to get his idea out first he decided. 'You never know, the Ensign might just have a plan' he thought wryly ..........
She turned to Torek, unable to stop a massive grin forming.
"Welcome back to the Raven Commodore."
"One hell of a stunt you pulled off there Commander." Carl replied, looking around the room making a mental note of who had appeared with him, "Let's head to the Bridge, I want the ship out of harms' way quickly." he finished, stepping into the corridor, Calli in tow. En route he spoke quickly to the Science Officer then closed the Comm.
At the turbo-lift they met up with the Exec, who was carrying a phaser. They stepped into the lift and Jamison requested their destination while handing weapons to his Commanding Officer and Valenti. They took up positions to move left and right as the doors opened, but their cautiousness was unfounded. the Duty Bridge Officers looked at the same time both stunned and relieved at who their apparent 'attackers' were ...
"As you were." Valenti said as Torek took his seat. Then told the Duty Opps Officer to remain in his seat as she quickly scanned the board.
The Captain was already issuing orders to move the ship to a safe distance away, and further round the parameter of Sanctuary. She was a little surprised, albeit for only a briefest of seconds knowing Toreks' feeling for the children that he felt able to leave the Bridge in his Exec's capable hands as he stepped into the 'lift and was gone. Talking quickly and quietly to the Helm Officer, she then moved to a vacant station at the back of the Bridge, and began checking on system readiness.
~~~~~~~~~~
The ship had moved far from it's original position now, and given the composition of the Boricci Nebula, there was zero chance the ship would be found short of someone tripping over a nacelle. She had been checking systems when a warning light suddenly sprang into life ...
"That didn't take long." she said out loud, causing several people to turn in her direction, "Our friendly Kvarn Conglomerate has begun firing into the nebula ... Damned risky ... They are certainly annoyed at our un-announced departure."
"Any pattern ?" Will asked, looking at the tactical display on screen.
"No, they're just firing blindly, no chance they will get us with a lucky shot though. I asked Helm to drop us five thousand meters below 'Zee' when we moved position ... Just in case they were stupid enough to do just this." she said, checking the chronometer over the view-screen. Five minutes to the meeting she noticed.
They sat quietly watching the computer enhanced readout of the high energy pulses lancing from the base, then there was a visible momentary bright flash, before the screen re-set.
"Oops ..." Calli said a wry grin forming, "Looks like with all that firing, they managed to hit one of those annoying little ships of theirs." ..........

Will leaned forward in the command chair just as the turbolift doors parted to allow Mr. Watson access to the bridge.
"Good to see you again, Lt." Will said as he watched the young man make his way to the science station. "I hope you have something good for us."
(Tag Watson)
Turning his attention back to the viewscreen, he addressed Commander Valenti.
"Can we tell how many they have out there trying to find us?" Will asked.
(Tag Calli)
Just as she was about to speak, there was another bright flash and
"Well. At this rate, we won't have to be in here for long. We'll just wait for them to destroy themselves and than waltz out." Will said with a grin.
They continued to monitor the activity of their pursuers.
A few moments later, Will, Calli and Watson began heading for the ready room. Will felt no need to contact the Commodore as he knew he would be on time.
"You have the bridge, Mr. Porter." he said to the young female Lt. that was manning the helm.

"Good to see you again, Lt." Will said as he watched the young man make his way to the science station. "I hope you have something good for us."
Alex nodded to the first officer grimly.
"I do, sir. I just need to set everything up. Believe me when I say it will be worth the wait. I need a few more minutes to collate all the data." He saluted, and turned to the science station, plugging in the PADD from Sanctuary. The device's lights flickered a little, as did the lights on the station, but after a few seconds the data had begun to transfer onto the ship's computer. Alex breathed a sigh of relief. At least he wasn't going to have to do his first briefing with a blackboard and chalk. He busied himself with the data, separating and organising the relevant pieces into easily accessible files, then uploaded them onto five PADDs beloning to the Raven. One each for himself, the Commodore, Commander Jamison, Commander Valenti and Commander Blackus. He'd have Blakus' PADD sent down to the sickbay and use a commscreen to include the injured engineer.

A few moments later, Will, Calli and Watson began heading for the ready room. Will felt no need to contact the Commodore as he knew he would be on time.
"You have the bridge, Mr. Porter." he said to the young female Lt. that was manning the helm.
<Tag Carl>
Will and Calli sat down around the table, and Alex moved up towards its head, activating the viewscreen and accessing all the relevant data so that it could be called up when he needed it. Just then the Commodore walked in, and took hs seat. Alex saluted, moving around to distribute the PADDs he had prepared and activating the comm-link with sickbay. Commander Blakus' face came into focus on the screen at the rear of the room. Alex stood facing the command staff for a few seconds in silence, gathering his thoughts, before the Commodore said,
"Well?"
This galvanised Alex a little, making him not want to seem foolish. He took a deep breath, and began.
"Sirs, Ma'am. In the short time I was undercover on Sanctuary I managed to infiltrate the main laboratory and strike up a rapport with another scientist. I made a...rather disturbing discovery.
This machine that Q told you about, Commodore. The one that would destroy the star and cause total event collapse? This is it."
Alex rather savoured the intake of breath that accompanied this statement, and he continued, calling up a detailed schematic plan of sanctuary on the screen behind him.
"Sanctuary is a top secret installation, secret even from all but a very few officials of their government, and is dedicated to bringing about a new era of cheap, efficient energy to their people. That's why they arrested us. They are ordered to detain and dispose of anyone they suspect of espionage. What we went through with Gaain and Taarh seems to have been a variation on the "good cop, bad cop" routine common enough in most interrogations."
"Why would they keep this secret?" said Commander Jamison, "If, as you say, their goal is to provide cheap energy for the masses, surely that's a goal that wouldn't need such secrecy."
"Good question, sir. I was puzzled by that myself at first. It seems to be that a huge majority of the ruling body of the Vezi does not want the general populace to have access to this kind of technology. They are afraid of what it might mean. Gaain and Taarh's ruthless methods are not as evil as they at first seem. They are under enormous pressure to deliver, and that pressure manifests in the behaviour patterns we witnessed. They are fighting fear and oppression with fear and oppression."
"So what does this mean, in real terms?" asked the Commodore.
"Well, sir. The good news is that we can stop searching for the device. The bad news is that we still need to find some way to prevent it from being activated. There are thousands of people on that station, sir. We can't simply blow it out of the sky."
The Commodore and Jamison exchanged significant glances.
<Tag Carl, Will>
"This is a detailed blueprint of the actual mechanism that instigates the solar energy." Alex said, bringing up a diagram of the launcher that had burnt Blakus.
<Tag Blakus>
"There are some twenty of these arranged in a circle midway between the centre and the outside. Their function is to concentrate and fire a massive blast of energy into the star, setting off a chain reaction which will result in a vastly increased output of energy. But the calculations are wrong. I'm not even sure if they are even theoretically possible, but the more I look, the more I think I understand."

"OK, Chloe is going to look after you both while I attend to some work ... You're OK to stay here for the time being Chloe ?" he asked the teacher, who said she was. Moving down the corridor he began running through possible options for their situation. It was obvious that people were getting worried, but no-one openly mentioned anything as he walked, realizing he was deep in thought. As he reached the Observation Lounge the doors parted and he ..... ...... found himself sat on a slowly rotating wooden carousel horse, feet hanging over the nothingness of space. A wave of nausea hit him suddenly, causing his to unconsciously grasp the reigns tighter. He could see the bright luminous streaks of energy far below as Sanctuary's weapons searched out the Raven.
"Always wanted to own one of these." his companion said wistfully.
"What am I doing here 'Q' it may have escaped your noti ......"
"You do 'KNOW' you will need to destroy this little venture of the Vezi ... You know you can't do anything else, don't you ?" the 'Q' interrupted, an almost child-like grin forming on the omnipotent being as he rode the carousel.
"There's no way we can talk them into abandoning the research ?" Torek asked, the wave of nausea passing.
"No, I'm afraid not." 'Q' said, watching the other man closely."
"I won't kill thousands of people ! ... Even if it does mean the end of life in my own dimension. It's not what we do ! .... You can stop all this with a snap of your 'DAMN' fingers. Why don't you do just that and send us back home where we belong ?"
"Oh I think otherwise Commodore. I think you will go to ANY length to save your puny little skins. I have had dealings with Starship Captains before as you well know, and I've found they ultimately do what you are so fond of calling 'The right thing' ...... Eventually."
Carl watched the nebula slowly rotating, his mind full of useless ultimatums, threats, bribes, pleadings, but nothing that would dissuade 'Q' from having his fun, he knew that all too well from the Federations reports on him, them. But then he had a thought ...
"How about this ........" he said, and began to outline his idea ... When Torek had finished, 'Q' remained silent, a wry grin forming on his face.
"I'm guaranteeing nothing Mister Torek." he said, clicking his fingers. Carl completed his step into the Observation Lounge, needing take a moment to re-orientate himself from his previous location, then nodding at those present he took his seat and taking the offered PADD ... "We don't salute when on the ship Mister Watson." Will said to the nervous Lieutenant. "Sorry Sir ... Nerves." Alex replied as Torek put the PADD on the ornate curved desk. "Well ?" he said, and waited for the man to begin ........ ~~~~~~~~~~"So ... What we need if I'm understanding you rightly, is to send a team 'BACK' to Sanctuary to figure out, with the help of your new found friend, a way to prevent them firing the weapon ?" Carl asked after the briefing. "Yes Sir." Alex replied instantly. "No ......" Carl said, stunning everyone with the finality of the comment, "I have spoken to 'Q' and we have a tentative agreement. We will destroy Sanctuary completely." "But there's thous ...." Calli began. But Carl held up a hand to silence her so he could continue. "Mister Watson. A team will go back over there, which will obviously include yourself. You will retrieve, with the help of that 'friend' of yours, 'ALL' the information you can on the work being carried out. No point in letting it be destroyed, Federation Science Department may well be able to use it somehow once fully understood. You will get back here and we will destroy the base ... Before you point out the obvious Mister Valenti ... 'Q' has given his word that no-one will be hurt, everyone from Sanctuary will be placed on their Home world with no knowledge of what they have been working on. A bit of collective memory loss I suppose, who knows what he'll come up with." There was an audible sigh of relief around the table, as everyone wondered just what Torek had said to get 'Q' to co-operate. "Right. We need to move the ship to transporter range, but remain below the base. You will have six hours to get what you need and get back here." Torek said, suddenly standing, but waving the rest to remain seated, "and Gentlemen, 'PLEASE' do not go over the six hour deadline, 'SIX HOURS' because if you do the consequences will be, lets say, a matter of life ... And Death ... Theirs, ours, everyones !" They suddenly understood one part of the bargain the Captain had been forced to make. The group began making plans ..........

Alex sat down at the desk in the ready room, everyone milling around him, his head spinning with what the Commodore had just said. He shook his head slightly, trying to come to terms with it. It seemed there was no way out of this situation and his highly trained scientific mind kept presenting solution after solution, and then shooting them down as unworkable. After a few minutes of such analysis, he came to his conclusion. Standing up, he approached the Commodore,
"Sir, may I request we change one detail of the plan?"
"What's that?" replied the Commodore crisply.
"The 'team' part. With your permission, I'd like to go over alone. My cover is still in tact, and I can pass off my temporary absence in any number of ways. Also, last time we had a team situation on Sanctuary, it did not end well..."
He paused, and was pretty sure that the Commodore was also thinking about the cover-breaches, the difficulty in communication and of Commander Andae Blakus laid up in the sickbay with radiation burns to most of his upper body.
"It will also be easier for me to persuade Jenny to help me if I go alone. The presence of others may disconcert her. She trusts me."
He paused again, feeling guilty for the abuse of that trust he was about to commit.
"It should not take too long for me to download the science database, or at least the most pertinent parts, into our ship's computer if I can establish a connection. For the rest, I'm confident that with her help I'll be able to gain access to the deserted secondary control room. From there, I can access all the files relating to the station itself."
"If you're discovered?"
"I'll tell the transporter chief to keep a constant lock on my signal. If I run into serious trouble, I'll open my commbadge's frequency. If he recieves a blank transmission for two seconds, he will beam me aboard instantly."
"Hmm...you said it wouldn't take too long to transfer the data. What do you intend to do in the remaining time, Watson?"
"I intend to..." he paused, trying to decide the best way to phrase what he was about to say. "To satisfy my scientific curiosity about the practical aspects of the project, sir."
"I've already told you, Watson, there's no way of talking them out of firing the device. Give it up."
"I don't want to try and talk them out of it, sir. With your permission, I want to see if I can make it work...please." he let the statement hang in the air, watching the Commodore's face closely.

Calli watched the people gathered round the long slim table. She knew each one was totally professional in their approach to their roles on the Raven, and all seemed to respect, and trust, Commodore Torek. She had listened to the Science Officer's report and subsequent request in silence ... "Hmm ... You said it wouldn't take too long to transfer the data. What do you intend to do in the remaining time, Watson ?"
"I intend to ..." he paused, trying to decide the best way to phrase what he was about to say, "To satisfy my scientific curiosity about the practical aspects of the project, Sir."
"I've already told you, Watson, there's no way of talking them out of firing the device. Give it up." Torek replied, not quite, but almost feeling the urge to shout the point across.
"I don't want to try and talk them out of it, Sir. With your permission, I want to see if I can make it work ... Please." he let the statement hang in the air, watching the Commodore's face closely. "If I may Commodore ?" Calli said, receiving Torek's silent nod to continue, "Lieutenant. With all due respect, you have been in Star Fleet lass than four years, and only qualified three months ago before your assignment to the Raven ...... There is no way you can suddenly go over there and solve issues the Vezi have had their finest Scientists working on for god-knows how long. In my opinion we need to get the information to Command and let them look into it at their leisure." She looked from Watson to Torek. "I have to agree with Commander Valenti here Mister Watson ... I'll commend your eagerness and pure scientific curiosity, but some things are just out of reach." Alex looked as if he'd been smacked in the face as Torek continued, "I agree we need the information, I'll concede we could do worse than having your friends' expertise. She's better here with us than there rebuilding this damn thing." "Sir, I thi ......" Watson began, but Carl raised his hand a few inches off the table top, a signal for quiet. "Commodore ....." Calli began, but Carl cut her off too. "I want three, maybe four of you over there. Plus one Security Officer per team. No arguments on that OK ... The Transporter Chief will keep a lock on all of those going ... Lieutenant, I want you to find your friend and get all the data you can. Commander Valenti will accompany you. I want two to go over and rip every terabyte of information on the base, it's design, construction, anything you think useful. When we get home I want to be able to give Command one hell of a treasure trove of useful information to keep them busy." "Aye Sir." the group said in unison. "So ..... Idea's on who needs to go ?" Andae had had the nurses help him into an upright position so that he was better able to contribute to the staff meeting. For some reason, when he tried it, lying down and holding the viewscreen above his face just didn't seem right. Andae knew what it was... He needed to think that he was on his feet, to feel like he was contributing something.
As Watson requested to be allowed an attempt with the device the chief engineer found himself looking on only in admiration. He perhaps wouldn't go as far to say he saw something of himself in the science officer, not wanting to hold himself up to high standards, but he did experience a moment of nostalgia, remembering some of the daring escapades he'd enacted in his own early assignments. He'd been a little headstrong and full of himself, convinced to the point of arrogance of his own moral high standing.
In fact, he remembered almost fondly (but not quite), how in an early incident he'd been severely reprimanded: disobeying a direct order in order to do what he'd felt had been right. He still felt it'd been the correct thing, the moral thing to do.
Andae remained quiet throughout the rest of the briefing, his passive image on the conference room's screen belying nothing except the discomfort with his radiation burns. After some passionate discussion and deliberation amongst the group, Carl Torek made his final decision on the make-up of the return team.
There were volunteers here and there; Watson of course, the XO, Calli... Andae only sat passively, flexing his fingers. He knew he couldn't go, he was in no fit state to. "I think I'd better sit this one out... Perhaps I can convince the CMO to let me out to engineering but anything further is a bit of a push."
Andae rolled his eyes at his own physical condition. This was no way to be in at such a time. Briefly he wondered, as the others began making preparations, why the Q entity hadn't appeared to him. As Andae had understood it, the entity was the same one that'd manifested itself in his academy training mission those few years ago. But then, not for the minds of mere mortals to comprehend...
The thought, the phrasing had come unbidden. Andae smiled knowingly.

"I think I'd better sit this one out ... Perhaps I can convince the CMO to let me out to engineering but anything further is a bit of a push." "Understood Commander." Torek said, closing the link to Sick-bay then addressing those present, "OK ... We need to get as much, if not 'ALL' the information regarding the device the Vezi are constructing. But I'd like all the base information, design spec's for construction, materials etcetera, too if at all possible, but no heroics on this ... We know they have at least two computer cores, I think we should try for both." "I agree." Calli said, seeing the others nod. "How close do we need to be for transport while keeping ourselves off their scanners ?" "Well we're five thousand meters below the station ....." Valenti said, working out rough numbers in her head, "Given the composition of the nebula gasses, I would say we need to be at a maximum of ten thousand, but certainly no closer than eight including the minus 'Zee'." "Right" he said, tapping his Comm badge. =^= Torek to Bridge .. Helm move us to eight thousand meters on our present vector =^= =^= Helm .. Aye Sir =^= "Will, Calli, Mister Watson, you will go over with two Security Officers. Lieutenant, you will go after your friend and access all development data on the device. Calli, you get all you can from the main core ... Lets go." he said heading for the Bridge, but Calli spoke, stopping everyone. "Sir ....... I assume that once we have the data we will be leaving, that is 'Q' will allow us to return home ?" Carl looked at each of his Officers in turn before replying. "We can't allow the Vezi to begin this work again when we return to our own dimension .... When we have what we need we'll make safe distance then destroy Sanctuary completely." he said quietly, knowing what each of them had in their minds but refused to bring into the open, so he continued, "I have spoken to 'Q' as you are all aware, and he has assured me that no-one will be harmed when we destroy the base." "And you trust his word ?" Will asked for everyone. "He has no reason not to keep it Will." was all Torek could reply, but even in his own voice it sounded hollow ... They entered the Bridge and Carl took his seat. "We're in position Captain, no signs we've been located, they are still shooting their own ships out of space." the Helm Officer informed him. "Get going." he said to the away team. Then looked at the chronometer above the view-screen. It had been set to count down the six hour deadline to the 'T minus' set by the ever helpful 'Q' when Torek had re-appeared in the observation lounge. ... 05:21:04 ...
..... and counting down, a damn-sight quicker then he'd like ..... < tag : Away Team >

Andae had been allowed to return to engineering, despite the protests of the CMO and despite the fact that he was still in quite some pain. Most of the burns had been healed by the usual miracles of Starfleet medicine but his body was still suffering the effects of a high dose of radiation.
The Doctor had attached a monitoring device to his neck, so that if his condition started deteriorating sickbay could be alerted quickly. He touched it briefly, feeling the cold and hoping that it wouldn't cause him any more concern than just its cold touch on the skin.
Finishing the diagnostic on the warp engines, he ducked under the PADDs that were then shoved his way, pointing towards his office as he made for the lift to the upper level. He could read them later.
"Lieutenant Milyanov, fine work keeping the engines in shape during my absence."
"Yes, sir," the Lieutenant greeted him as he stepped off the lift. "We had just enough staff left. The deuterium tanks are running low; there's something about the nebula that eats up impulse fuel at an incredible rate."
Blakus paused, before walking to the upper magnetic constrictor control console. "I assume we've got enough in reserve..."
"Well, sir, we've got a fair amount, but if we have to thrust about the nebula too much longer we may be hitting the red line sooner than thought."
Andae found himself tapping the edge of the console, something of a habit he'd picked up. "Well make sure the helm officer knows to be as efficient as possible in his manoeuvres, and let's hope we don't have to go to high impulse in the nebula, because that's sure to empty the tank rather quickly."
"Yes, sir." Milyanov went off to attend to his duties.
The chief leant against the console, taking a moment to think. It became a minute, before he eventually pushed off the station and went to monitor the away team's data recovery operation. Perhaps he could setup a direct downlink of any critical information. It was hard; forging a compatibility between the Raven and Sanctuary's computer mainframe was no simple task. But he resolved to have it set up by the time Alex, Will and Calli reached those computer cores.

She had listened intently during the briefing, even feeling she needed to make a comment at one point, but now the Commodore had made his decision ... As the group split to prepare she remembered Commander Blakus' comment about getting out of Sick-bay. "Computer .... Location of Commander Blakus." 'Commander Blakus is currently in Main Engineering' the computer obliged. ~~~~~~~~~~"I've been thinking about this data retrieval." she said as she walked into Blakus' office, I think we need to take two tricorders with us to each of the cores maybe ?" "I've thought about that too. There must be teraquads of data over there, not counting the stuff we simply don't need, but time is a factor here" Blakus said, pushing two of the instruments across his desk toward her, "These have been modified, they will do little but relay the data direct to Raven. I'm in the middle of setting up a down-link from Sanctuary to our computers, but it's taking time." "You will be able to connect direct to these after we've transported over ?" she asked, and Andae gave a tentative nod of confirmation. He hadn't solved the problem at this end, but knew the tricorders were ready to accept the link, once he'd managed to set it up. Calli thanked the Engineer and headed for Transporter Room One ... In the turbo-lift she activated both instruments, and couldn't fail to notice the screen ... It had a single read-out ... A timer, obligingly counting down ... 'Nice one Commander, keep us on our toes wont you' she thought, grinning at his Ingenuity, watching the screen as the lift climbed .......... ... 04:58:17 ...

Torek sat in the Command seat, unable to settle his attention on one single item on the expansive. Instead, his eyes flicked nervously between the vivid purple, blues and greens of the gaseous nebula outside the hull, and the invisible Sanctuary less than ten kilometers above them, and the damn chronometer ... It was still annoyingly counting down the seconds with that smug air of knowing it was doing a job to the best of it's ability ... If Carl had been wearing a weapon he may well have shot the damn thing to oblivion. 'Good job I don't allow weapons on the Bridge' he thought wryly ... The Comm activated suddenly, thankfully grabbing his attention. =^= Transporter Room Two to Bridge =^= =^= Torek =^= he replied, after hitting the button a little 'too' hard. =^= Commander Valenti Sir .. We're almost ready to transport to Sanctuary .. Commander Jamison and Mister Watson are en-route and should be here momentarily .. I have assigned two teams of two Security Officers per team .. That is seven personnel in all on the Away Team =^= =^= Very well Commander .. I don't need to remind you of the time restrictions involved here .. So I expect this outing to be expedited with all due haste =^= =^= We're aware of the deadline Sir =^= Calli said, watching the doors and wondering where the merry hell Watson and Jamison had gotten to and hoping Torek didn't ask her just that. =^= Inform me when you are ready to beam over Commander .. Torek out =^= The Comm closed with an audible beep. Calli was still pondering where Will and Alex were as the Comm sprang to life again ... =^= Captain to Commander Jamison Lieutenant Watson .. Please report to Transporter Room Two =^= Calli checked the count down on her Tricorder:
... 04:12:53 ... "So much for him not wondering where they are." she said out loud, looking at the Security Officers, who chose not to reply but continued to needlessly double-check their weapons ...... Yet again .......... < tag : Alex / Will >

Will had just finished going over some details with Delik and was almost to the transporter room doors when he spied the Lt approaching from the other direction and he heard the announcement.
=^= Captain to Commander Jamison Lieutenant Watson .. Please report to Transporter Room Two =^=
"We're walking in now, sir." he informed their CO.
As they entered, they spotted Commander Valenti and four security officers.
Seeing that there were 7 people and only 6 spots on the transporter, Will stepped forward.
"Banks. You're dismissed." he said before explaining himself. "We'll keep the away team to a minimum so that should something arise, we can get everyone out in one beam up instead of two or trying to coordinate two transporter rooms. Keep a lock on all of us, Chief." he added to the transporter operator.
"Aye, sir." came the standard reply.
Turning to the away team, he pointed to Squires and Thompson.
"You two will accompany Mr. Watson. Garcia and myself will go with Commander Valenti." he said.
They each stepped up onto the transport pads.
"Everyone ready?" asked Will. Receiving all nods, he faced front himself. "Energize."
A couple of seconds later, they were back aboard Sanctuary.
"Okay, Mr. Watson. This is your show." Will said.
