Location: USS Black Tulip
A hot wind, the leaves of the leafy trees were falling to praise far and Max remembered his infancy in Madara, the Betazed's capital. The beautiful city, now simulated in the Holodeck of the USS Black Tulip, was spreading along a great forest and in the south, removed from the civilization, one was finding the house of his parents, place where he was raised together with his sister.
Max returned to the reality …
“Computer, end holoprogram.”
On having gone out of there, Max walked along the corridors, when for one of the exterior windows, he could observe the Starbase Bellicose to which they were docked. News had come to him that the Admiral Elron was not in the starbase and consequently the crew was out of duty. Max supposed that it was a time to know to the new crew since he not had opportunity previously.
" The best place to know the crew " Max thought and went toward to Deck 2 where the Mess Hall was.
Once there, Max noticed that it was full of officers. He sat down in the only unoccupied table. Then he hoped that one of the officers was approaching him to greet it, because Max was not very extrovert.
Not late a lot of time in appeared one who was greeting him …
<TAG Any crew member aboard BT>
OOC: The Admiral Elron is in a mission aboard the Vesuvius. I would like that the whole active crew post in this threed and this way to wait together the Admiral arrival. Any question, send me a PM.

Kat was looking about sickbay when she got tired of it. She wanted to have some fun and relax a little between now and the next shift. She left sickbay and headed for the Mess Hall after hearing her stomach roar again for the umtenth time. She sighed, and was glad no one was in the turbolift.
Kat entered the Mess Hall, and went directly for the replicator. Once she had her food she sat down at an empty table and devoured it.
A little while later, she got something to drink, and looked around the room hoping for some company now that she was full. She noticed a man enter and sit down all by himself. ~He looks interesting.~ She thought walking over to where he was sitting.
"Hello, I am Doctor Katrina Williamson. I just joined the crew, who might you be? Do you mind if I join you?" She said hoping he wouldn't mind. She stayed standing not wanting to just assume it was alright to sit down.

James and Antoinette Flanigan crossed the hatch that would lead them to their new home: the flag ship of the second fleet, USS Black Tulip. And again James would be serving with an admiral, though this one was even higher ranked than the previous, and again one alien in species. "Daddy, what's an Avari?" 15-year old Antoinette asked as she hoisted her bag back onto her shoulder.
"I've no idea," James replied as they received directions towards their new quarters. "But I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Admiral Elron is currently not aboard so we ought to report to the first officer, a certain Commander Disasterman. But first, why don't we get ourselves a drink after stowing our gear away? We're very early and not due to report until tomorrow."
Antoinette nodded, very glad to see her father back into active duty. He'd recovered well from the injuries sustained while serving as first officer aboard the Tiger Shark-B, but he had a slight limp. And Antoinette only noticed his limp because she'd been there to see him recover, anyone who didn't know him would only notice the handicap when James were to be forced to run.
Together, they walked towards the Black Tulip's mess hall, finding two vacant seats at a table occupied by two other officers, both humans. "May we join you?" he asked them, "I'm Commander James Flanigan, this is my daughter Antoinette."

Kat took a seat when she was allowed, and was about to strike up a conversation with the man she was sitting with when two beings came up to their table. She smiled noticing the little girl.
"Yes, you may join us. We were just about to start a conversation, or rather I was. Its good to meet more crew. I am Doctor Katrina Williamson. Would you or Antoinette like something to drink?" She asked hoping to try and make a new friend.
"So, how old are you Antoinette? Do you like your dad being a Starfleet officer? What made you decide to be a Starfleet officer?" Kat asked, first of the little girl, then her father.

The two nodded as they sat. "Got any billi tea?" james querried the waiter.
"Got what?" the crewman responded somewhat testily.
"Billi tea. Tea made in the bush out of gum leaves." James replied patiently.
"Gum?"
"Eucalypt leaves. Oh never mind you grumpy sod...get us some normal tea then, with plenty of milk." James turned to Kat to answer her questions. "My parents are both starfleet, so it was rather natural for me to sign up as well. My h-" he broke off. "No never mind that." He continued to explain his tour in starfleet, and how he'd taken a sabattical when his partner and other daughter had died.
Then he nudged Antoinette to answer. "I'm fifteen," the girl replied, "and I'm going to be a counselor just like dad."

"Hello, I am Doctor Katrina Williamson. I just joined the crew, who might you be? Do you mind if I join you?"
Max looked the officer while she was sitting down.
"Sure" and finally he said "I present myself, I am Lieutenant Commander Richards, the chief ops, but you can call me Mr. Richards as all do it"
Max wanted to be agreeable and he smiled at the doctor. In this moment an officer and a little girl approached the table.
"May we join you?" said the officer "I'm Commander James Flanigan, this is my daughter Antoinette."
Max felt insecure to speak, it was the first time that saw a little girl in a Starfleet starship. Before that he could say something, the doctor interrupted it.
"Yes, you may join us. We were just about to start a conversation, or rather I was. Its good to meet more crew. I am Doctor Katrina Williamson. Would you or Antoinette like something to drink?"
Max greeted the Commander with a handshake and he said "I am Lieutenant Commander Richards, chief operations, nice to meet you"
Then they sat down and they order something to drink.
"So, how old are you Antoinette? Do you like your dad being a Starfleet officer? What made you decide to be a Starfleet officer?" the doctor asked
Then the Commander nudged Antoinette to answer. "I'm fifteen," the girl replied, "and I'm going to be a counselor just like dad."
"Counselor!" Max said with a smile "It is not an easy work. Are you completely sure?"
"Completely!" she answered quickly.
"Good! Maybe some day I could present my sister to you, she is an excellent counselor."
He was not speaking about his sister a lot of time ago and he believed that this it was a good moment to do it.

CMDRfc Disasterman was finished his shift on the bridge. As he walked back to his quarters he began thinking about what he should do for the rest of the day. After chaning into some casual clothes he walked towards the mess hall. Stopping abruptly in the open doorway he noticed several new crew faces sitting together at a table. One of these people he recognized as Lt Commander Max Richards who Disasterman had met in Admiral Elron's officer a couple weeks ago when the Tulip first arrived at the Starbase for repairs.
Stepping back so the nobody could see or hear him, Disasterman tapped his communicator and said, "Computer, turn all lights off in the mess hall for 1 minute."
As the lights went out the Commander quickly entered the room and grabbed a nearby chair and sat quickly at the table with the new crew members. Luckily for him nobody except the child panicked when the lights went out. When they lights came back on, everyone at the table jumped slightly seeing someone siting at the table that wasn't there when the lights went out.
"Hello everyone. Mr Richards congratulations on your recent promotion. I'm going to guess that your new friends here are our newest crew members that decided to eat before coming to report in to me.
Suddenly the others at the table realized that the person now sitting at the table was the First Officer. They both jumped to their feet and said......

Antoinette shrieked when the lights went out, just at the moment their odd tea was being served. The waiter tripped and the hot tea was sent flying, splattering the crew with the hot contents. She clung to her father, who had just been about to answer Richards' question, in terror. Since her father was all family she had (aside from her grandparents) she was easily scared when something unexpected happened.
James in turn wrapped his arms around his daughter as she clung to him. He didn't know what to expect either, yet he blinked in surprise when the lights came back on and a new officer had joined their little group. He jumped, knocking his seat backwards as he stared down at the new joinee. "Apologies for not reporting yet sir," he announced apologetically, "we arrived early and thought to eat something first. It was a long flight from Starbase Assaillant."
Regaining some composure, he smiled. "Commander Aaron James Flanigan reporting for duty, sir," he continued, "though right now I suppose you could call me James." James motioned towards the girl. "This is my daughter Antoinette. Oh...and I thoroughly dislike being called AJ and will not respond when called such." He grinned sheepishly. "Thought you ought to know that."

Kat was enjoying this time before she reported in, and was only annoyed when the lights flickered off and then on again a few minutes later. She was startled a little by the new man at the table. She knew who he was, but didn't say anything. [Its a good thing I read up on crew manifests before I join the actual crew.] She thought.
"Sir, I prefer to think of my health before I do anything drastic, like reporting in. After all if I'm unstable, then you aren't going to be any better off when you need to visit sickbay," she said using her very quick wit and smart mouth once again. She knew it would get her in trouble, but she didn't mind. It was something she was used to.
"Alright, I'll report in, and for the record I haven't eaten," she said quickly before standing at attention. "Sir, Doctor Katrina Williamson reporting in," she said and returned to her seat when he let her. She took a sip of her drink listening to the First Officer speak.
"Well, sir, it looks like my fame proceeds me. I hadn't realized you had heard of my quick wit," she said not addressing the part about her smart mouth.
"Thanks, Commander, its good to know I won't get away with abbreviations instead of your name. Don't worry Antoinette, security is so good on this ship. No one is in any danger, well almost no one," she said and smiled at the First Officer remembering her pranks just after she came aboard.

When the lights went out Max trembled. How COO is his responsibility the maintenance of the systems and he believed that everything would be under control. After awhile, Max found that it was another thing.
When the lights come back, a new officer was sat together with them. Max recognized him to the instant.
"Hello everyone. Mr Richards congratulations on your recent promotion. I'm going to guess that your new friends here are our newest crew members that decided to eat before coming to report in to me.”
The person who appeared before them was the First Officer. The Commander Disasterman was dressed with a non-duty clothes and he was looking at the officers that were with Max.
Kat and Flanigan jumped to their feet suddenly.
"Commander Aaron James Flanigan reporting for duty, sir,"
And then Kat said "Sir, Doctor Katrina Williamson reporting in,"
When the officers reporting in, Max greeted the First Officer and said:
" Well, seeing that already we appear, seems to me that it would be good to continue with our … eh … little chat, I guess. " Max said.
<TAG Anyone>
"Sir, I verify all the systems on the ship. We are able to depart, but if you want, I can begin a new diagnostic for you."
Max has really verify all the operable systems, one and another time, but possibly he forgot something.

James smiled at the younger officer. "Chat...yes I suppose that was what you and miss Williamson were doing when we joined you." He turned towards Disasterman. "Sir I do apologize for not reporting in straight away. Our voyage here was tiresome and endless, we were ill served on our way and received little sleep. I had planned to report in after we received a few hours of rest."
He glanced about. "This vessel looks majestic, if I may say so. Nothing at all like the Tiger Shark, where I served briefly as first officer." He patted his leg gently. "I was severely injured a few months back, but SBA's doctor assured me that I'll be running again soon. How are the educational facilities on this vessel? My daughter does need to continue her studies."
Before DM could answer, however, James turned his attention back to Richards. "So...how did you end up on this marvel of a vessel?"

The comm-call disrupted James' conversation with Max Richards and with a surprised expression, he glanced sideways at the Black Tulip's executive officer. "Commander, surely the marine would be welcome to join us here? We are not yet due to report and I haven't caught any gossip about this ship being ready or ordered to set sail again."
(DM)
James smiled politely. "Having a little get-together with the senior staff, other than mission briefings is never a bad thing commander. In fact, it may aid in some bonding between the crew. Who knows, perhaps it'll result in some friendships. I'm quite certain Doctor Williamson will agree with me on that front."
He glanced pointedly at the chief medical officer, as if mentally willing her to agree. Of course, James had no such skills though he was in fact a very skilled counselor. A counselor with a fair few issues haunting him at that, but none he would allow to interfere with his duties.

Kat heard what was going on, and smiled. She took a long drink of her beverage wondering how she was going to continue on.
"So, Antoinette, what do you like to do for fun?" She asked the teen hoping to engage another female in some small talk.
Kat knew the others were talking, and she hoped the girl wouldn't be too shy around her. She wanted to make friends, but wasn't sure the best way to go about this. ~If I ask her about boys, it will be the wrong time and place. Besides she probably wouldn't tell me. I wonder if she knows how to pilot a vessel. If she doesn't would she want to learn?~ Kat thought waiting for a response.

"Fun?" Antoinette echoed, glancing up at her father to get confirmation on what she thought Katherine might mean.
"Go ahead," her father nodded as he returned his attention to Richards and Disasterman.
"Fun," she contemplated thoughtfully, "well I don't know ma'am, I suppose I like to read? I'm not too fond of holodecks, though I do enjoy practicing the art of archery." She smiled wistfully. "I was the champion of my school before we moved to the Tiger Shark..and before..." She trailed off. "No, never mind that," she added, refusing to continue her sentence. "What do you enjoy ma'am?"
James watched his daughter clamp up, wondering when she would come to terms with her twin's death. She never wanted to discuss the matter, and even though he himself preferred not to discuss it, especially with people he didn't know, he knew he couldn't always avoid it. "Tony, why don't you tell the commander what happened to us?" he suggested gently, "it's all right to talk about it, remember? You don't have to go into details if you don't want to, but you have to learn to talk about it."
Antoinette sighed miserably, knowing her father was right. "When I was little, me and my sister Jamey would practice archery together when we were in primary school. They had a sort of little league for this sport. My sister died along with my father in a fire. Dad and I survived, though barely."
James caught the surprised glances from his fellow officers, but chose not to comment on them. "Very good Tony," he said mildly, while glancing at the officers present. "She was a champion, both my girls were champions, as they never could best the other. It was quite a trauma we endured, and it is why I did leave Starfleet for a while. Where I go, Tony goes with me. Did she tell you she wants to be a counselor when she grows up?" James glowed with unhidden pride as he talked about his surviving daughter, but the grief showed when he mentioned his other daughter. A haunted look came over him as he mentioned her.

Kat wasn't sure what to say after hearing of the deaths in both James and Antoinette's lives.
"I am sorry to hear of your loss," she said right after she heard.
"I happen to enjoy reading myself. I also like sports, watching and participating, as well as skeet shooting, camping, and mountain climbing to name a few," she said knowing she could go all day with her interests and hobbies. Kat didn't want to bore the girl though.
"Perhaps sometime we can get together for an archery competition," she suggested hoping to peak Antoinette's interest a little.

Antoinette beamed up at Katherine. "Prepare to be beaten ma'am," she laughed, then tugged Disasterman's sleeve. "Will the first officer join us also?" Then she made a show of looking around, glancing first directly at Richards, then Disasterman and Williamson in turn, before turning back to Disasterman. "If you're the first officer, then where's the captain?"
James coughed to get her attention, giving her a quiet warning look to not go too far in her questioning. "Tony has a point," he spoke up, "and where is the rest of the senior staff?" He frowned as his gaze locked with the first officer's. "Is Admiral Elron not aboard?"
He glanced at Williamson again. "After this and reporting to the admiral, should we report to sickbay?"
Meanwhile Antoinette had walked up to Richards and slipped her hand into his. "Will you show me your station?" she asked sweetly, acting older than her actual age of 14. James cast his daughter a look of disapproval but didn't tell her she wasn't to go to the bridge with Richards if he approved showing her.
He sighed at the CMO. "She's going to be a handful when she turns 16," he complained softly, "and even more when she turns 18." He sighed again. "Women," he murmured under his breath, once again glad he didn't have to suffer the presence of a wife or girlfriend, ever.

"You have no idea how good I really am, especially since archery involves aim. I would love a game, any time any place. Yes, will you be joining us, sir?" Kat asked hoping they would all like to join in. She heard the questions about the captain and going to the bridge.
"Antoinette, the bridge is no place for a lady," she said teasing the first officer a little while trying to get the teen off the subject.
"You can come any time for physicals. I haven't seen sickbay or my team yet, so I don't know if we are ready. I plan to go there later. A nurse can help with physicals, just tell her the new CMO said the crew was getting physicals. She will comply, they always do," Kat said hoping that would be a good enough answer.
"Watch it, Flannigan, I happen to be one of those," she said giving him the evil eye before moving her chair over a bit.

Post by bema on Jan 11, 2007 20:00:37 GMT
Bema sat back in the chair of his relatively 'new' quarters. They had been there for a couple of weeks now but it still felt strange being on the same deck as his CO. Bema looked over to his wife and newborn children, taking momentary comfort from the fact he had also been avoiding the new shift schedule for two weeks. He had noticed that there had been a lull that had fallen over the ship recently. Melissa O'Neil had been welcomed into the department with open arms despite the circumstances. Frustrated at his lack of concentration, Bema stood and left his quarters. As he walked down the corridor he thought of the crew member that had to be fit into the empty slot in the shift schedule, he thought of how there was now a renewed interest in the ACM program. When he arrived at the holodeck he quickly input the program and entered.... right into a fist to the chest. Bema flew back into a wall, visibly stunned. He stood up and ran over to a nearby sign, then with an incredible amount of strength, pulled the sign from the ground and swung it at his nearest opponent hitting him square in the chest. With the concrete at the end of the makeshift Bo-staff shattered, Bema dared his opponents on....and then he was airborne. Spinning as he came down into a group of enemies, no sooner had he touched the ground, he was swinging his Bo, knocking his adversaries all over the place. Admiral Elron entered and had to duck several times to avoid getting hit by the fallen men. "Computer freeze program," Bema said as he noticed his CO's approach. "Well I must say this is different," Elron commented as he reached the Lieutenant Commander. "This is me venting frustration," Bema replied with a smile. "Twentieth century Earth but I'm afraid I don't recognize the program," the Admiral said examining his surroundings. "It is from the science fiction series The Matrix. It is about a group of humans surviving in a post apocalyptic Earth ruled by machines," Bema explained as he set the Bo down. "It seems you are still upset about Lieutenant Commander Goodspeed dying," Elron his expression changing to concern. "Why did anyone have to die? Why couldn't we get him without any of our people getting hurt?" Bema asked. "One of the things that all Starfleet officers live with is the possibility that their commanding officer will one day send them on a mission that they won't survive. Command personal are never prepared for the loss of someone under their command, especially if it's someone close to you," Elron explained with a sad face. "Do you ever get use to it?” Bema asked. “Hope that it never does,” Elron replied. “Now let’s get something to eat Commander. I don’t know about you but I’m hungry,” the CO said, a smile returning to his face. They left the holodeck they headed for the mess hall, talking as the walked. (Tag: Elron) Once at the Mess Hall Bema noticed the FO sitting at a table with two officers he didn't recognize. Bema also saw the newly promoted Max Richards. He was about to suggest the spot to the admiral when Elron walked up behind the officers, but to where Commander Disasterman could see him, and said in his most authoritative voice: "You know it is usually customary to report into the CO before doing anything else." Bema burst out laughing as the officers and the girl standing beside Richards jumped. Bema quickly walked up beside his CO. "Don't worry he does that sometimes," the CNO said as he stoped chuckling. Antoinette screamed as suddenly a voice came out of nowhere and she clutched at Richard's arm in fear. James too cringed when he heard an unfamiliar voice behind him and when he turned he spotted a blue-skinned male bearing Fleet admiral's bars.
"Admiral, sir," he started as he too jumped to his feet. "as I just explained to your first officer...we were early and thought to get something to eat first. We had a long voyage from Assaillant and the service was rather poor."
He noticed the second unknown officer was still chuckling rather uncontrolleably. "Commander Aaron James Flanigan," he introduced himself to the two unknowns, "I've been assigned as your counseling officer. That's my daughter, Antoinette. You must be Fleet Admiral Elron, pleasure to finally meet you sir. Your accomplishments precede you, even towards a backwards station like Assaillant."
James then peered past Elron. "And who might you be sir?"

James then peered past Elron. "And who might you be sir?" "Lieutenant Commander Bema Saberwyn. I'm The ship's Chief Navigational Officer," Bema replied as he held out his hand for a handshake. When the handshake was done Bema turned his attention to the woman in a Starfleet uniform. "Who might you be ma'am?" Bema inquired. (Tag: Katrina Williamson)

Elron had never heard of Bema's holodeck program, but then he wasn't as familiar with all the Earth-based programs that were continually being released. Perhaps one day he would give it a try himself, he mused as they left the holodeck. On their way to the mess hall, the two friends took the opportunity to catch up.
"How've things been this week, then? I feel I haven't seen you much since we got back," Bema asked his CO. Elron shrugged.
"Pretty hectic, to be honest. I seem to spend all my time either writing reports or reading reports. Occasionally I get to fit some sleep in between them, if I'm lucky. The Vesuvius looks like it's going to cause me a few headaches, but I'm sure we'll get it all sorted out in the end. My priority just now is getting all these new officers settled in," Elron replied wearily. He looked tired, and he certainly felt it. "How 'bout yourself?" he replied, brightening up. "You getting used to family life yet?"
Bema grinned. "It's an experience, I'll say that much," he replied jokingly. "It's a bit like being at the Academy again - a lot of hard work, but worth every moment of it. The new quarters are great, but they take a lot of getting used to."
Elron nodded and smiled. "It's one of the hardest jobs in the world, and you don't get paid a credit to do it, but what you get in return is worth far more." For a moment Elron's eyes seemed to mist over, as though he were thinking back to some old but cherished memory, but he quickly returned to the conversation. "If you need anything else at all, just let me or DM know and we'll see what we can do for you."
"Thanks, sir," replied Bema gratefully. "I really appreciate it."
Once inside the mess, the noise level rose significantly. Amid the throng, Elron spied his Executive Officer. It looked like much of the senior staff was with him, including the new assignments. Elron couldn't resist playing with the newbies.
Having scared them half to death, Elron listened as his new Counsellor introduced himself and his daughter. "Commander Aaron James Flanigan," the officer introduced himself, "I've been assigned as your counseling officer. That's my daughter, Antoinette. You must be Fleet Admiral Elron, pleasure to finally meet you sir. Your accomplishments precede you, even towards a backwards station like Assaillant."
Elron grinned broadly. He'd never heard Assailant called backwards before, but he found it very amusing. Despite the usual trend, it seemed he might get on well with this new Counsellor. He watched Bema and AJ exchange a firm handshake, then waited for his new CMO to introduce herself.

"Yes, I've heard how evil he can be from some of those on the base. I'm not too worried," Kat said and took her seat again when she was allowed. She had heard a good many rumors floating about. She listened only to all that was transpiring, then she was addressed.
"I'm Ambassador Katrina Williamson, the new doctor. I hope your health is good," she said teasing the pilot a bit. She smiled easily.
"You know Admiral, people say this is one of the worst assignments, and wondered why I would be here. I hope that is just rumor talking. Now if you will excuse me, I need to assess my quarters some more as well as Sickbay. Antoinette, I look forward to that archery match. Just let me know when and where," she said still smiling and left with a gleam in her eye.
Kat knew she had done something with just her words, and hoped her mission wasn't going to be all boring.

James could see the blue skinned admiral was amused, and not just because he was grinning broadly. "Something I said?" he querried, feigning innocense. He let go of Saberwyn's hand, clasping his own behind his back again to give himself some posture. "I look forward on serving on this magnificent vessel," he continued, "she looks much different than the Tiger Shark."
Antoinette grimaced at Williamson. "After I've been to the bridge," she promised, glancing up expectantly at Richards. "Mister Richards can we go to the bridge now? You promised!"

Since he had a lot to be getting on with, and the group seemed to be breaking up now anyway in preparation for departure, Elron took his leave and headed up to his quarters. 'I've got time to shower and relax,' he thought to himself in the turbolift.
Unfortunately, he wasn't to have as much time to relax as he had hoped. As he walked through the doors to his quarters, the opening doors unbalanced a precarious bucket of water, spilling its contents all over the Admiral with a splash and a clatter. Luckily the bucket itself missed him, but his uniform was practically soaked through. He stood for a few moments, utterly amazed, not knowing quite what had happened or what to do next. He looked at the bucket on the floor next to him and was completely at a loss. One thing was clear though, he'd have to dry off.
As he entered the bathroom, he concluded that this could only be the work of one man. Admittedly DM had never taken to entering his quarters before, so this was a new one. Elron picked up a towel and dried his face. "He's for it now," the blue-skinned Avari muttered roguishly to himself. Putting the towel back on the rail, he glanced in the mirror and was caught completely off guard for the second time in five minutes. "What the..." he exclaimed loudly. His face appeared to be smeared with some kind of dark viscous liquid. He took a closer look at the towel, still in his hand, and saw the ink. 'This is bordering on abuse now,' he thought exasperatedly. Before his thoughts could progress any further though, he realised that the towel wasn't leaving his hand. He was putting it on the towel rail, he was letting go, and it was still in his hand. This was just getting too weird for words!
Eventually he removed the towel, washed his face and dried it again, but this time with a carefully inspected towel. He definitely needed a shower now. Through the bathroom door he spied the kaleidoscope on his coffee table. Taking a closer look, he saw that it was from 'an anonymous friend'. 'How stupid do you think I am?' Elron chortled. He ran his finger around the inside of the eyepiece. As he suspected, it was smeared with ink. Elron concluded that this was no longer the work of his First Officer. This wasn't his style, and was mischief in the extreme. Elron sat down and wondered how he could get his own back on the mysterious assailant. As his mind ran through the possibilities, he started to laugh louder and louder...
