Once they arrived, Delbridge played the ship's video recording of the mission briefing from the conference room, the classified footage only available via senior officer I.D. codes and retina scan, so she could see and hear the whole shabang directly from the proverbial horse's mouth. When it was over, he addressed the seniority issue, "Engineering as a whole is all yours, ship repairs, etc. My only sphere of direct influence is over the engine mods needed to get us there and back in one piece, and there's just not enough time to get you up to speed enough on them to warrant removing me completely. Everything else, you're the boss lady and I'm more than happy to heed your orders, and when we're back victorious I'll be out of your way entirely. Sound ok?"
Sarah nodded smiling, "That works for me Commander, you are more of an expert then myself I specialized in biomedical engineering not the warp core dynamics. Never fully understood it." She replied and shortly thereafter stepped outside her office.
"Ma'am?"
Sarah turned it was another officer she couldn't see the rank, "Yes?" She said questioningly raising her eyebrow trying to recall the name it was useless.
"Welcome aboard, I know you are probably busy, but we are showing a fluxuation in the systems along the science labs we cannot locate the cause."
Sarah looked at her for a moment, then her attention was turned towards the First Officer on board.
She finally found the new Chief Engineer whom she had come in search for, “Ensign.. I am Commander Jackson.. I see we were in a briefing when you came aboard so I came down to welcome you.. I know it is a bit unfair of Starfleet to send you here and expect you to hit the ground running.. but it only means they have complete confidence in your abilities.”
Looked at her superior beaming brightly, "Thank you ma'am I will try my best..."
“Good, well if you need anything don’t be afraid to ask.” Stacey gave a short nod before turning and making her way back to the turbolift.
She nodded, but before the XO could leave she made one last remark, "If the Science Department has said anything about issues with power fluxes please know that I have just found out and am working on getting them repaired." She replied
Stacey turned and gave a small smile. "I didn't know about the problem myself until you just mentioned it.. so I can hardly expect you to have it fixed already can I.. it’s not a major problem but I have already had it up to my eyeballs with the science department today.. so make it a priority please… because if they whinge at me about anything else today I am liable to have them all shot.”
She shrugged and added. “And then we would have to replace them all.. and that’s a lot of paperwork and red tape.. messy business.”
She gave a final nod and said. “Carry on Ensign.”
Afterwards Sarah turned her attention to the engineering staff, she wasn't exactly leader material in fact she had a hard time with leadership responsibilities in fact she was fresh out of the Academy never serving aboard any ship prior to this one. She sighed crinkling her nose a little bit the young bajoran woman sighed.
She shook her head walking over towards the console where the fluxuations had been shown on the screen. She looked down, "It appears they are being caused by the modifications being placed upon our engines."
A nearby Petty Officer nodded, "Yes, ma'am it looks that way."
Sarah looked at him then back at her panel, "We will need to take down all power to that section of the ship and place it upon the auxillary power until we can find the secondary causes." That should make them really happy. Her thoughts seemed to shout the words into her brain. "Petty Officer Williamson please begin shutting down main power to science labs three, seven, and ten. Transfer all power to auxillary and bring it back on line. Then contact them and let them know that they are on limited power." She walked away not even a day on the job and there were issues.

OOC: In part a JP between Commander Garrett and Lieutenant Commander Tavik
The shuttle flight to the El Salvador had been relatively uneventful, short enough for Megan to pilot the whole way there, not wanting to give up the controls to her ‘baby’ if at all avoidable, but long enough so that as the Sommers set down on the floor of their destination’s shuttlebay, Commander Garrett was feeling fatigued, not that she didn’t fight to keep it from showing. The craft was fairly small, but with its holographic interior, she’d managed to rearrange it a little bit to allow for enough of a separation for Marina and Valad to get some sleep as they traveled to their next assignment. The silence, solitude, and the tedious monotony of piloting a ship at warp provided the soon-to-be Science Officer with a chance to do some research on the El Salvador, her Captain, and her crew. Based on what she learned, there were no counter-indications, such as would make her think Admiral LaPage had made a mistake, but of course she would reserve her judgment until after the first mission.
“That was quick,” Marina commented cheerfully, still yawning somewhat since her sister had woken her only a few minutes before as they approached the El Salvador.
Normally, Megan would have playfully shot back, ‘that’s because you were asleep the whole way,’ but with Valad there, she skipped the teasing retort and moved on to business. “You should speak with the Quartermaster about quarters. I’ll go report into Captain Savot and the return to handle the transfer of our belongings.”
“I am sure they can handle it,” Marina replied jerking her head in the direction of a few, far from unattractive duty officers who were watching from a distance. “I doubt they’d mind helping me out anymore than I’d mind playing clueless to let them…”
Shaking her head, Megan suppressed a grin. “No...but since they’re not me, they would find it rather impossible to get onboard my shuttle to retrieve all your stuff.”
“Aw, come on Meg...live a little! You’re no fun,” Marina replied, pouting to try and get her way. “I know you like your ship, but can’t you make an exception this once.”
“Sorry. Rules are rules,” Megan responded. “But don’t worry. We’ll come right back after reporting in, and instead of transporting yours directly to your quarters, we’ll carry them out, and then you can ask for help, ok?” she compromised glancing in Valad’s direction to make sure he was alright with that. “Because there is no way Commander Tavik and I are playing helpless, so you’ll be on your own with that.”
“Perfect,” Marina replied with another girlish glance in the direction of the officers.
Still shaking her head, Megan headed for the doors allowing Valad to follow along.
Valad followed her through the door and started walking next to her. The silence was eerie. Neither said a word for a while. Valad decided to break the ice. "I still want to know what Talok had to say to get out of the heat after that one. Your performance was brilliant."
Trying not to cringe, Megan was just starting to realize that she was never going to live down the way she’d brought an end to the previous mission. “Well if his actions didn’t get him into trouble, the fact that I pointed out his stupidity in front of his crew certainly will,” she replied, carefully but firmly shifting away from her ‘performance.’
Valad chuckled, still a bit groggy from the nap on the ride over here. "Oh come on. You had most of the guys on our bridge drooling as soon as you had me cut the channel." He shook his head still smiling. "But your secret is safe with me. I won't tell our wonderful new Captain. So who is he?"
Gritting her teeth, Commander Garrett tried to ignore the previous comment and focus on the question, but it was just so frustrating. She still didn’t get why for some reason males could find what was, as far as she figured, an overly emotional and passive-aggressive response attractive. All she’d done was humiliate a Romulan. “You’re about to see for yourself,” she replied, trying not to snap back to indicate that his teasing was bothering her, and finally relenting to add, “Commodore Savot.”
‘Yikes!’ he thought to himself. As they approached the turbolift and entered, he went out on a limb, trying to learn a little about a woman who he hoped would become a great friend. "Can I ask you a personal question?"
Megan hated that question... It wasn’t really something you could say no to unless you just really didn’t care what people thought of you, and now she was stuck. “If I said no, would it really keep you from asking?” she finally replied, hoping maybe that’d work as a no without the harshness an actual, straight-out no would produce. ‘Come on lift...hurry up,’ she willed the slow moving turbolift, tempted to push the panel again but knowing perfectly well that it would not make it move any faster...
"I'm probably one of the few people in the galaxy who won't take it personally if you said no." The two went silent again.
Somehow, that was even worse and more awkward than if he had actually asked the question, as the silence descended and began to stretch… ‘This is why I hate social interaction and why being an XO was so great for avoiding it,’ she mentally grumbled to herself. The long, uncomfortable pause continued to grow louder, and she was just about to give in and grant permission because whatever the question was couldn’t have been as horrible as this, before, mercifully, the turbolift stopped and the doors opened onto the bridge. ‘Thank you...’ she thought in the direction of the suddenly cooperative lift as she quickly exited, located the CO, and approached.
As they stood, he could tell she was uncomfortable. He repositioned himself to be a little further away to give her more space. The awkward silence ended with the turbolift doors opening. Garrett quickly moved out. Valad followed her out.
Coming to stand politely, somewhere in between attention and casually, and off to the side but within Savot’s sight, Megan addressed him. “Commodore Savot, I’m Commander Garrett, your new Chief Science Officer reporting in; this is Lieutenant Commander Tavik, your new Chief Operations Officer. We’ve just arrived from the Jefferson, along with Ensign Garrett, a security officer,” she introduced, extending her hand, which held a datapadd, out to him. “These are our transfer orders, Sir.”

**Previous post**
He hadn't noticed Commander Jackson had left the bridge, most likely due to what he would perceive due to her body language as a headache, However, he did notice Savot raise from his seat and begin to walk towards his direction.
"Mr. Roberts, as you know from the mission briefing the final phase of the mission calls for a trained security officer to accompany us aboard the Penance itself, but the El Salvador will also need a capable Tactical officer should it become necessary for them to engage the behemoth in combat. I leave the decision to you as to where you feel your talents would best serve, whether to accompany us to the enemy craft and leave your top Tactical subordinate here on the bridge, or vice versa. You may take time to consider the matter if you wish."
"I'd like time to consider the options, I'll get back to you ASAP on the options sir" he replied.
Truth was, he wasn't sure how this could be pulled off, everything about this ship had been built and planned with such precision, very few tactical weakness, at the moment, John was banking on internal sensors being offline, but that would be down to pure luck than anything else, the rate this thing was being built, there is a good chance it would be a good 95% complete by the time we got there.
He studied the plans even more, but was constantly going round in circles, "I believe it's time I paid a call to the holodeck" he whispered to himself.
**Added part** As he was about to go and gain permission to leave the bridge to build a better picture of the possible layout of the Penance, and the best way to achieve the goal of the destruction of the incredible vessel, he noticed 3 new officers step off the turbolift, one of which he recognised as his new security officer, Ensign Garrett. He figured he would give her a chance to show her worth, and join him on the holodeck, but first he waited until the reporting in had been done.
**After Commander Garrett, Ensign Garrett and Lieutenant Commander Tavik have finished reporting in**
Having been monitoring the exchange between Savot and the 3 new officers, John stepped forward. "Ensign Garrett, would you like to join me on the holodeck, and lend some assistance on how to board the Penance undetected" He noticed her looking a little confused, which was understandable as she wasn't aware of the mission, "Don't worry, I will get you up to speed on the mission that lays ahead" He smiled, seeing her relax slightly.
(Ensign Garrett as well as anyone else who wished to respond/join us)

Sarah nearly laughed remembering what Commander Jackson said about shooting the entire Science Department. Perhaps she had a point, and that the young engineer did not want to create a disturbance. Suddenly her communications panel nearby began to chime loudly. Sarah looked at it annoyed, "Engineering Chief Clarke here?"
"Clarke...This is Lieutenant Argos why has science lab three have a reduction in power..."
She sighed, Great, here we go. She smiled trying to force herself to not go off on the Lieutenant she was junior, but at the same time she was a member of the senior staff which gave her seniority over this other officer, "The modifications that are being placed on the engines have disrupted power to the science labs. We have switched you to -"
"Don't give me that, first we never do any survey missions now..."
"Do not interrupt me again Lieutenant!" She snapped harshly, then regained her composure. "Science lab three along with some others have been placed on auxillary power until we can solve the problem."
"Yes...Uh..Ma'am."
Sarah closed the communications and rolled her eyes seething as she turned her attention to her team that was busy working on the situation. "Petty Officer, has the issue been localized?"
The young third class nodded, "Yes, ma'am power for all science labs save three has been fully restored. It seems that the bio gel packs were being affected."
Sarah smiled for the first time in the last few minutes, "Great work, run a type two diagnostic on all the power units throughout the ship I do not want this issue to be a major affect on our mission."
The third class nodded once more, "Anything with science lab three?"
Sarah looked at him longingly, "Cut power from science lab three and send a team there to deal with it locally I think that is where it originated anyway. If any of them give you trouble contact me and I shall deal with them most swiftly." Reasons to never mess with an engineer one...If you make the chief engineer angry she has a tendancy to remove power from your area. She smiled at the thought and watched as the third class went to work.
Sarah walked over to Commander Dellbridge, "Commander it appears that the modifications are affecting several systems on the science decks. We are performing a system diagnostic to make sure this situation is locallized."

[Bridge]
Savot inwardly commended Roberts on his intention to consider all angles of the scenario before deciding where to personally participation within the attack on Penance, and he merely nodded and left his Chief Tac/Sec officer to his work. No pun intended, the vulcan captain had found himself blindsided by the transfer of S'reena Hope and afterward had taken the liberty of accessing Personnel database directly to see if any other crew were incoming or outgoing.
Though it didn't give him any advance time to start making preparations, at least this precaution spared him being totally surprised when another two officers came to the bridge and presented themselves as the new Science and Operations chiefs.
Savot walked closer to take the padd, entering his confirmation of receipt and saw that these new arrivals' quarters were already being processed by the quartermaster as well. The vulcan captain made a note to commend the supply department as he returned the datapadd to Garrett with a polite bow of his head, "Welcome aboard Commanders; I'm Commodore Savot though on duty I prefer Captain as it requires less time to say." She had used his name so introducing himself was redundant, but polite.
"We'll be entering the Tural Nebula in 1.5 hours, and are scheduled to cross over 30 minutes later. I've granted your senior officer codes access to the recording of the mission briefing so you may view it when you're settled, please bring any questions you have to me and I shall respond to the best of my ability. I apologize for the brevity of your welcome", Savot finished, his tone clear that they were free to comment or question if they needed/wanted to, but if not they were free to go about settling in.
************************************************ [Engineering]
Delbridge grinned at the new chief's first response, That one'll do okay with an easygoing attitude like that, he thought to himself as he looked for something else to tinker with.
Several minutes later the First Officer had come through, and for her sake Delbridge stayed out of her radar. He wasn't worried about another stern 'talking to' but he figured even just seeing the juvenille engineer might irritate her and Jackson looked like she had enough on her plate already. Delbridge nodded at the warm way Jackson welcomed the new girl aboard, and shortly after she left Ensign Clarke was giving a whiny science guy what-for over the comms and the Tennesse engineer had to bite his lip from bursting into outright laughter.
He managed to gather himself as Clarke came over to speak to him, "Commander it appears that the modifications are affecting several systems on the science decks. We are performing a system diagnostic to make sure this situation is locallized."
Delbridge rolled his eyes and nodded, "Good call, but don't worry it's locallized. We knew the mods would do that ahead of time so we told the department in advance only the main science lab would be in operation for this mission. Hmm... suitable punishment for irritable scientist." He pursed his lips in thought before grinning conspiratorially and tapping a control on the console in front of him.
"Engineering officer note to be transmitted to said Lieutenant upon our successful return from current assignment: 'Dear Scientist, your lab priviledges have been revoked for a period of no less than 2 weeks on grounds of mental disability. Y'see ideally we want our science personnel to be intelligent, and yet you're still aboard a ship heading highlong into potential destruction knowing you're not essential personnel for this assignment... meaning you're an idiot. Idiots pose a serious risk to their shipmates when equipped with lab priviledges, so you won't have said priviledges and during your vacation you can ponder the intelligence in any future plans you might have to gripe at Engineering staff about situations you've already been memo'd about. Thanks for playing, and please send all hatemail by way of Chester W. Delbridge, Engineer at Law.'"
Clicking the button again to end the recording, Delbridge turned to Clarke, "He'll rue the day, boss lady. The fleet would wither without engineers willing to put in the effort; never let 'em tell you different."

"Welcome aboard Commanders; I'm Commodore Savot though on duty I prefer Captain as it requires less time to say."
Valad raised an eyebrow to the Commodore’s statement, but otherwise simply smiled and nodded. He was not aware that his new CO was Vulcan, a good thing. Perhaps this Captain would not make so many rash decisions.
“Thank you, Captain. We'll get to work on that right away,” Valad said as a Lieutenant Commander, who appeared to be a tactical officer, came up.
As they started to walk away, Valad leaned to Commander Garrett and said, "You know, I'm going to see if the Commanders on this ship allow me to blow things up." He referred to Garrett not allowing him to get weapons and proceed on a sabotage mission on his own in their recent past.
(Megan)
Valad allowed Marina to answer before he made his jump in.
(Marina)
“I’d like to come along as well, if you don’t mind. I’d like to see what we are dealing with first hand.” Valad stepped up.

Post by SA. Stacey Jackson [Ret] on Jul 2, 2010 9:51:02 GMT
The turbolift ride felt somehow slower, it most likely wasn’t the case and more a result of Stacey’s combination of shortened temper and lack of ability to sleep the past few days. Eventually she made it too the bridge, stepping off she tilted her head slightly as she gazed at what appeared to be more new arrivals.
A slight sense of annoyance again struck at her as she thought over the rather unprofessional way Starfleet had decided to both replace competent officers and inject new blood right before what may well be an extremely dangerous mission, that in itself annoyed Stacey to no end.
Stacey leaned closer to a near by Lieutenant and whispered. “Who are they?”
The young woman smiled slightly as she whispered back. “Uh Commanders Garret and Tavik and an Ensign Garret Ma’am.”
“Oh.. I see.. uh well back to work.” Stacey said softly as she lamented the fact that she had only just read her memo’s an hour ago and didn’t see a mention of them.. which meant she had more waiting for her she pulled a face thinking of what else would be in them and whether or not she really wanted to know.
Already it seemed they were integrating themselves in with the existing crew, mentions of holodeck training were brought up by Roberts and Stacey gave a smile to herself at how quickly they all seemed to be willing to jump into work.
Before they all disappeared Stacey stepped forward and smiled brightly and said. “Welcome aboard.. I apologise that we don’t have the time to leisurely allow you to get acquainted with the place… I am sure you will all fit in marvellously.”
<Tag Garret’s and Tavik>
Stacey looked to Roberts who seemed eager to get started on the training mission on the holodeck and Stacey adopted a more business like tone of voice and facial structure as she said. “Commander during your holoprogram please remember the team boarding the Penance will be a small strike force, minimal numbers.. and I would advise seeking the aid of Mister Savot seeing as he has the most knowledge and will be on the team.”
<Roberts>
She had gotten the sense that more than a few of the crew were getting ready to ‘cowboy’ up and charge into the withering fire, she took a deep breath as she nodded at the new members of the crew and the old and said. “Well carry on.”
Moving to her chair she sat down and took a deep breath as she looked to her console, there wasn’t much for her to do now other than wait.. this was the time when commander’s had to sit back and have faith in the crews ability to get themselves ready.
She leaned in closer to Commodore Savot who had sat back down and she said softly. “Starfleet sure is pulling out all the stops on this one.. four new crew in a matter of hours.. oh Ensign Clarke tells me there is a power disruption in the science department.. she is already on top of it.”
OOC: Clarification.. to avoid confusion Mirror universe Savot is referred to by Jackson as 'Mister Savot'

‘Wow, this ship is so well organized...’ Marina marveled silently. After Megan and Valad had left and before she’d had the chance to ask one of the cute guys where to find the quartermaster, the officer in question had arrived, taken the information needed to arrange quarters, and been on his way, leaving her task accomplished in about a minute. Although the prospect of chatting up some of the guys she was eyeing was very appealing, Marina decided to be professional and follow her sister up to the bridge to report in to the Captain. There’d be plenty of time for flirting later.
Arriving on the bridge rather quickly, Marina stepped in to stand behind her sister next to Tavik just in time to hear the Captain, uh…Commodore, reply to whatever Megan had just said, their introductions and reporting in Ensign Garrett assumed.
"Welcome aboard, Commanders. I'm Commodore Savot, though on duty, I prefer Captain, as it requires less time to say. We'll be entering the Tural Nebula in one point five hours and are scheduled to cross over thirty minutes later. I've granted your senior officer codes access to the recording of the mission briefing so you may view it when you’re settled, please bring any questions you have to me and I shall respond to the best of my ability, and I apologize for the brevity of your welcome.”
“Thank you, Captain. We'll get to work on that right away,” Valad responded from behind her, and with a quick glance in Marina’s direction, Megan simply nodded in agreement. It was clear the Commodore was busy, and that this mission was just about to really begin, so there wasn’t much time for them to get up to speed on it.
As they turned to leave, Tavik whispered in her direction, "You know, I'm going to see if the Commanders on this ship allow me to blow things up," in a lighter tone.
Shaking her head, Megan replied, “Well, at least you know that one still will not...” as a Lieutenant Commander whom she recognized from the personnel files as the Tactical and Security Chief approached the group, his eyes fixed on her sister.
"Ensign Garrett, would you like to join me on the holodeck and lend some assistance on how to board the Penance undetected?" he asked, pausing for a brief moment before adding, "Don't worry. I’ll get you up to speed on the mission that lies ahead"
She had definitely made the correct choice coming to the bridge. A dazzling smile crossed her face. “I would love to, Commander,” she replied. “I’m a quick study.”
“I’d like to come along as well, if you don’t mind. I’d like to see what we are dealing with first hand,” Valad responded following Marina, his excitement plainly evident.
Megan’s first instinct and desire was to go as well, but several things stopped her. First, she had just piloted her shuttle all this way, second, she needed to properly peruse the mission’s briefing and learn all of the pertinent details and facts before beginning preparations of any kind, and third, this was her sister’s introduction to her senior officer and the last thing Megan wanted to do was to take over or show her up. “I am afraid I have other responsibilities, otherwise, I would join you also. However, I hope the invitation still stands once my obligations all have been met.”
“Welcome aboard. I apologize that we don’t have the time to leisurely allow you to get acquainted with the place… I am sure you will all fit in marvelously,” a woman whom Megan also recognized from the personnel files as First Officer, Commander Jackson, greeted them, before turning to the Security Chief. “Commander, during your holoprogram, please remember the team boarding the Penance will be a small strike force, minimal numbers, and I would advise seeking the aid of Mister Savot seeing as he has the most knowledge and will be on the team,” she suggested to the Lieutenant Commander before adding to the group as a whole, “Well carry on.”
“Thank you, Commander,” Megan replied as the First Officer began to move away. Mention of the Tural Nebula and ‘cross over’ had caught Megan’s attention initially, and her interest had only increased when Roberts had mentioned an undetected boarding, but now she was positively itching to find out what this mission was, as it sounded right up her alley. ‘I’ll bet Admiral LaPage knew about this before he had me transferred here...’ Commander Garrett thought to herself, her thoughts racing with how to complete the tasks she needed to accomplish as quickly as possible and get to that briefing to get fully up to speed and begin preparing for this mission. It was also rather unusual for the First Officer to refer to her Captain as ‘Mr. Savot.’ It had sounded strange to her ears, and it had her mildly curious as to the reason.
“Well, I’ll let you three get started, and perhaps join you later,” Megan addressed the group, turning to Tavik and her sister and adding, “I will handle the transfer of your belongings to your quarters for you, and...Ensign, I’ll see that your pets make it safely there with all of the necessary supplies and set up required,” she offered.
Eyes lighting up, Marina quickly replied, “Oh, thanks, M...Commander. I appreciate it very much. I had almost forgotten all about them with all this…excitement,” she added with a glance in her new boss’s direction; distractions did happen after all...
Restraining a smile, Megan excused herself and headed for the lift, not missing the look her sister was sending in Roberts’ direction. She hoped he knew what he was in for... Unfortunately, there wasn’t time to worry about the Lieutenant Commander who could hopefully care for himself. She needed to get her shuttle situated in its proper place in the bay, transport the correct belongings to the correct quarters, get her sister’s cats to their new home and make the appropriate arrangements for them to be comfortable, grab a quick meal, shower, and stimulant, and then get caught up on the mission briefing, all in the hour and a half before arriving at the nebula. It was a tall order, but somehow, Commander Garrett would find a way to make it.
Kind of glad her sister hadn’t jumped right in and just joined them, Marina smiled at Roberts. “Well, Sir, I’m ready. Let’s get started. After you, of course,” she added.

Nathan acknowledged Savot's suggestion with a simple nod. "I will sir," he replied, realising he'd been dismissed. "I'll get my family settled and then report to sickbay," he added, before departing the bridge.
He made his way to their assigned quarters quite easily and he was surprised at not even getting lost once. After all, the El-Salvador was quite different than the Jefferson. "I don't appear to have any shift today," Jayden announced upon his entry, smiling brightly as he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Nathan's neck in a very affectionate manner. "I'll get the children settled, why don't you go explore your new domain?"
Nathan smiled in response, rewarding the younger man with a kiss. "I'll do just that, and I'll be home in time. That of course, does depend on whether I'll be needed at any given time. Commodore Savot does strike me as a reasonable man, even though I haven't heard any stories about him yet."
"I have, and he is a reasonable man. He's Vulcan."
Again, the older man smiled, rubbing Jayden's cheek in affection. "I'll be home in time," he promised, grabbed his medical kit and headed out.
He glanced around in awe in his new workspace, it seemed much bigger than the one he had before, and more state of the art. He grinned as he tested the EMH, to discover that it worked as it supposed to. Jefferson's had never worked straight, despite engineering's attempts to fix it.
“Where is Firestorm?”
The doctor dropped the PADD he'd been reading and whirled around, a startled expression on his face. Quickly, he recomposed himself and smiled at the woman who had asked the question. "Firestorm has decided to go with Commander Hope and assist her in a procedure that will restore her vision." He held out his hand to her. "I am doctor Nathan van Breughel, Chief Medical Officer. How can I help you?"
“Oh I see well welcome aboard Doctor.” She cleared her throat before saying. “I have a migraine.. unfortunately I don’t have much of an option for sleep or rest at the moment.. so if you would be so kind as to prescribe me something that would be appreciated… and the moment it is possible I will take a rest I promise.”
"As long as you do take the rest," Nathan admonished her. "I know of another first officer, who would not rest and would prefer to be medicated to remain on duty. Don't force me to come after you and sedate you." He pressed the hypospray against her throat. "She didn't take kindly to it, I doubt you would. As it is, however, it is my job to see to the safety of this crew, as far as their health is concerned. And carrying on without rest, is very unhealthy."

<Slight backpost for Nathans tag>
Stacey rubbed the spot on her neck where he had just pressed the hypospray, not out of pain or discomfort and more out of instinct. She then registered his words and let her hand drop down. Taking a deep breath she smiled slightly and replied.
Stepping back she added. “For future reference doctor, I had already stated that I would rest your lecture was unwarranted.. and may I point out could be construed by someone less kind than myself as threatening an officer.”
She took another deep breath and added. “I am not that other first officer you had to deal with.. talk to me as my age and rank warrants and we will get along just fine.”
“Again welcome aboard Doctor, please extend my well wishes to anyone you brought on board with you.”
She turned and took her leave, normally she would have ignored the lecture and let it pass as an overzealous Doctor marking his line in the sand, but he chose the wrong moment with her head she was feeling less than diplomatic. walking back to the bridge she sighed in relief as her head began to ease up.

John noticed the body language suddenly change, Ensign Garret although tried to make her self look excited, was slightly disappointed at not having the chance to settle in first, ensuring her belongings had gotten to where they should be, or thats what he expected it would be.
Eyes lighting up, Marina quickly replied, “Oh, thanks, M...Commander. I appreciate it very much. I had almost forgotten all about them with all this…excitement,” she added
“Well, Sir, I’m ready. Let’s get started. After you, of course,” she added.
He contemplated for a moment as he watched the seemingly forceful eagerness of the new security officer, as another of the new officers stepped up wishing to come along also. "I’d like to come along as well, if you don’t mind. I’d like to see what we are dealing with first hand" John nodded and followed the young ensign, who was about to enter the turbolift. "Since you will both be eager to secure your belongings, meet me on Holodeck 3 in 10 minutes"

He knew how it felt, he seemed a little bit out of place himself with the time away from starfleet, this being his first mission since returning. However, he also understood that Commander Tavik and himself would be required on the bridge prior to, and during the transfer in to Mirror space, and was starting to think that maybe the 10 minutes he had given them was a little too fair, still, he needed to have the two officers focused on the job at hand.
John headed for the turbolift, he thought it best to cut some time and get things set up ready for their arrival, so he could get some extra time to study the Penance a little more, and make sure the holgraphic projection was accurate.

"Since you will both be eager to secure your belongings, meet me on Holodeck three in ten minutes," Commander Roberts offered, much to Marina’s disappointment. While she understood that he was most likely being courteous by providing them with time to unpack first, Ensign Garrett had been so excited about the prospect of involvement in something important that she really hadn’t cared much about her stuff. She did her best to hide her letdown, and by the time she and Valad exited the lift at the shuttle deck, Marina was ok with it. After all, this would mean she’d be able to get two her cats all settled in for herself.
“Ensign Garrett to Commander Garret,” Marina began as they headed for the bay. “Hey, Meg, we’ve got ten minutes before we’re going to start the simulation, so we’re heading your way. That means I’ll be able to take Onyx and Amber and get them set up myself.”
Not expecting to hear from her sister, Megan paused in surprise mid-motion before she continued more quickly. “I’ve just beamed Commander Tavik’s belongings to his quarters, and I’m about to transport yours except your cats. You can come and get them and carry them yourself. Commander, if you’re there, there is no need to return to the shuttlebay.”
<Tag Valad>
“I’ll see you in a few,” Marina offered with a grin as the two officers went on their separate ways, Valad to his quarters and she continuing on to the bay. By the time she arrived and was allowed into her sister’s ‘clubhouse,’ the formerly full storage area was completely empty, save the two tiny carrying cases containing her meowing, purring bundles of fur.
“That was fast,” the Ensign commented wryly as she stepped across the space to retrieve her cats. “You’re pretty scary...you know that? It’s almost un-human to be that prepared.”
“Well why else did you think I had you both tag your bags before bringing them aboard?” Megan replied with a slight grin before offering, “Do you want some help carrying them?”
“I think I can manage, thanks,” Marina responded, lifting the two small crates, which began to shift back and forth as the contained felines began to demand their immediate release. “They’re going to be so mad at me for leaving them so quickly, but they will be just fine.”
Nodding, Megan shifted her remaining bag on her shoulder. “Well, if you need me to do anything to help, just let me know. We’re arriving...wherever it is we’re going in less than an hour and a half, so you’ll probably be able to get back to them pretty quickly anyways.”
“Hopefully and unfortunately...it’s good for the cats, not so good for me,” Marina retorted with a sigh. “I’ll let you know how it goes on the holodeck,” she promised on her way out. Still a bit disappointed about the small delay, the Ensign soon forgot all about it as she tried to comfort her crying, squirming cats as she made her way to their new home. “Hey, it’s alright!” she assured them as she finally arrived, placed the carriers on the floor, and released the little monsters from their cages. “See? I told you I wouldn’t keep you in there forever,” she affirmed with a laugh, moving to the replicator to retrieve all the necessary supplies while Onyx and Amber cautiously poked their heads out and took a look around.
“You’ve been begging to get out all the way here, and now that we’re here, you won’t get out? Silly kitties,” she teased them as she began to set up their food, water, and box. By the time everything was set up, both cats had emerged from their carriers and began to carefully examine their new environment. While they did so, Marina ran into the bathroom, retrieving a single case from the carefully organized pile of bags and boxes on her way by, and checked/fixed her hair and makeup. Once pleased with the results, the Security Officer returned to the living area to find her pets still cautiously exploring the new home.
“Alright babies, it’s time for me to go,” Marina told them sadly, reaching down to give them each a scratch behind the ears and a gentle pat on the head. “I’ll be back real soon, ok?” she promised as they swarmed around her feet trying to get her to stay, but she was far too excited about spending time training with her new, super-cute Chief to be convinced.
A few minutes later, and Marina arrived at Holodeck three, ready to go. She was slightly early, though not by much. “So…maybe you should bring us up to speed before we get started, Sir. I don’t know about Commander Tavik, but I like to know what I’m trying to do before I attempt to do it, if possible,” she chatted pleasantly, trying not to ogle her new superior too obviously. ‘Definitely an upgrade…’ she thought to herself with a little smile.

Post by Savot on Jul 12, 2010 0:02:56 GMT
Savot excused himself from the bridge briefly, wanting to check on the overall settling in progress of the El Salvador's newest crew. Typically, asking new crew if they were getting everything in order smoothly was a self-defeating act as the question itself forced them to stop settling in long enough to tell you how well they were settling in...
Fortunately, with at least one of the officers Savot had another means of procuring his desired intel. Ensign Clarke of Engineering would surely have encountered Commander Delbridge by now and rather than bother Clarke directly Savot could just ask his human friend how the situation seemed to be going. A turbolift deposited the vulcan captain in the engineering section and Savot soon tracked down Delbridge.
"Oh yeah, she should definitely be fine. Already headed off a grumbling scientist and met the First Officer. I think you've got yourself a good officer there but as always time will tell. Not everyone can be as amazing as I am", Delbridge reported jocularly.
Savot raised an eyebrow and bowed his head in agreement as he played back in kind, "Hopefully not."
His friend slapped a hand to his chest as though hit by the proverbial bullet, "Ouch. You sure you're not your evil twin in disguise?" Delbridged joked only to shift his countenance to instant disgust as his mentioning of Mirror Savot seemed to summon him.
Raising an eyebrow for only a moment before completely dismissing the human as inconsequential, M-Savot stood in the company of his protective security guards and looked to his double, "I request a sparring match with you Captain."
Savot raised an eyebrow outwardly in surprise and inwardly in suspicion, "For what reason?"
M-Savot gave a facial shrug as though the answer should be obvious, "Both to maintain my own combat readiness and to gauge your ability to adequately support me in our mission. You yourself would not assign a crewman to your away teams without ascertaining their capacity to perform their required assignments."
Though he doubted the totality of the offered response Savot could not argue the base logic his reflection had employed, "Very well. I will meet you in Exercise Room 2 in 12 minutes."
As M-Savot and his guards left, Delbridge paused a moment before turning animatedly to Savot, "Can I sell tickets and popcorn?"
Savot turned back to his friend with a weary expression, "The exercise need not be advertised. I'm certain the crew has better things to do than observe a sparring match."
Delbridge's expression made it clear he was prepared to argue, but he just shrugged, "Okay, have it your way Cap'n Buzzkill, but I'm sure as heck gonna be there." Though the remark was certainly not regulation-permitted, Savot had noticed Delbridge had taken the time to look around and ensure none of the other crew were close enough to hear him before saying it so Savot let it pass quietly as per usual.
*************************************************** [Bridge 1.5 hours later]
Necessary personnel had returned to their posts for the crossover, and their new crew had had time to become familiar with the details of their mission so no one was unaware of what they were about to attempt. Savot sat in the center sit calmly, a small dermal bandage on the inside of his left palm that most of the time was out of view, and listened to Delbridge's final readiness report that they were set to make their move.
The Tural Nebula filled the main viewscreen and for a brief moment Savot recalled looking out from his shuttlecraft years before in this exact spot before running the engine test that would hurtle him across into the Mirror Universe. This time, hopefully, since the process was intentional they had been able to account for the variables that destroyed his craft back then and eliminated them so the El Salvador would make the trip intact.
Savot depressed a control on his chair arm, =^=Acknowledged. All hands, brace for crossover. Engineering initiate engine pulse.=^=
At first there was nothing really to see or hear on the bridge and the moment was almost anti-climatic in its simplicity. Then readouts from each bridge station lit up and reported their frantic readings as the energies given off from their nacelles began triggering a chain reaction within the Nebulous material. There was some minor shaking of the ship itself and a few consoles throughout the ship blew out from overload but on the whole it was less problematic than the simulations had hypothesized.
The shapes remained constant on the viewscreen since in truth they weren't 'moving' in the strictest sense, but for awhile the colors shifted as though someone were altering the contrast on the screen's calibrations. Warning alarms sounded forcing reporting officers to raise their voices to be heard but after no more than 83 seconds things settled back to normal and Delbridge's voice came through the speakers, =^=Engineering to Bridge. Engine Pulse discontinued, damage sustained within expected parameters... we're on the other side.=^=
Savot was relieved, though his expression hadn't changed even during the transition, =^=Well done Engineering, assess sustained damage and report within the hour, Bridge out.=^=
The vulcan then turned to his First Officer, "We'll assess damage and repair as much as possible, then your team will leave via shuttle in 3 hours for the Outpost to discover the temporal frequency of the Penance's supply ships."
(OOC: Wanted to go ahead and get across but naturally people should feel free to backpost the completion of anything they were doing beforehand.)

Once he had gotten himself settled in sickbay and had his briefing and round of introductions with the new nursing staff, apart from Hannah and Donovan who'd come with him, Nathan had excused himself and had returned home to spend some time with his husband and children. He marveled at how quick children grew; Freddy was already seven years old, and getting fairly tall and lanky for his age. Nathan saw very little of the boy's mother in his son, but that was mainly due to the fact that he even barely remembered the woman who'd borne his son to term. Besides his birth, only painful memories were attached to recalling her. What he did see, was how much his son was like himself.
Angel too was growing quick, at a little over one year old, she was babbling away in her baby language that no-one understood, smiling often at both her fathers. She too was his spitting image, in that she had his blonde hair and blue eyes. He could see traces of the young woman that'd been her mother in her too. Nathan kept an image of her filed away in a private log, for her to read when she was old enough. At one year, she was also starting to walk around their quarters, grabbing things at random so he and Jayden were forced to store breakables outside her immediate reach.
Unfortunately, neither Tibbe nor Sox were very smitten with her since she learned to walk, as their tails were something the little girl grabbed at often. However, neither feline had ever lashed out at the little one which obviously belonged to their little coven.
Startled, Nathan turned as he was grabbed from behind and nearly lashed out in defense before he realised it was Jayden who'd wrapped his arms around him. "Hello love, having a good day in sickbay?" Jayden peered at him intently, though his eyes sparkled happily. "I've not yet had the chance to meet the marines, I've been stuck here with the kids."
"They're a well-oiled team, Firestorm had them well in line," the doctor replied, returning the embrace, and ending with a kiss. "Let's go swimming, I've booked the holodeck..."
==== 1.5 hours later, just before crossover interval ====
The doctor and the marine had just crawled out of the pool, their skins water sodden even though they were laughing merrily. Nathan hadn't felt this good in a very long time and even though the risks of this mission were very great, he had a sense of belonging. "I need to get to the bridge," Nathan announced as he rubbed the water from his hair with a towel, "I'll meet you home for dinner later. Then I'll stay with the children so you can meet your detachement."
Within five minutes, the doctor was dressed and racing towards the bridge, to view the crossover first hand, and be on hand should there be injuries during the event. He stopped dead in his tracks when he recognised the woman in teal at the science station. "Megan?" he blurted out, completely taken by surprise. "What are you doing here?" His surprise was such, that the most logical explanation escaped him altogether.

Once her sister had left, Megan exited and secured the Sommers then went to speak with the person currently in charge of the shuttlebay. Once they had identified the best location to store her small vessel, and the Science Chief had assured him that she would handle all of the maintenance required so it wouldn’t be listed on any repair manifests, she was on her way to her quarters. She would let the shuttle mechanics move the shuttle to the proper place, which wouldn’t require their entry, and she already knew they’d be unable to gain access should they try, so there was no need for her to observe the procedure. It was one thing to make arrangements for her ship and quite another to stand around and watch them done. She wasn’t that much of a control freak, and besides, she didn’t have the time. With only a little over an hour remaining until the cross over, there was plenty to do.
~
With a wry smile, Megan sat back in her chair and stared at the now blank screen. She’d played the briefing several times now to gain all the details she could manage to extract from the recording, and now, the room was silent as she processed the information. This was no accident that she was assigned to the El Salvador with this type of mission. There were no accidents in this career, minor coincidences maybe, but no accidents, especially since her mentor had been directly involved in selecting this assignment. No, this was a test, pure and simple, but what kind of a test? Did he want to see whether she could use her expertise without creating any suspicion or else discover whether the crew, particularly the Captain, could be trusted with the more sensitive details of her past and qualifications? It could easily have been either one of those scenarios, but more likely than not, Admiral LaPage wanted to see how she would handle this and which direction she would chose.
She’d forced herself to take a quick shower and grab something to eat before reviewing the briefing, the virtually untouched plate of pasta next to the console indicating she hadn’t been able to wait long enough to eat it first, but they still had half an hour until making the journey into the other universe. It was long enough to quickly contact the Admiral before heading to the bridge to be at her station before the transition, but Megan didn’t feel that was the right thing to do. Sending her off into another universe was as clear a message as possible that he wanted her to handle this herself, trusted her to do so. Commander Garrett was on her own to determine how she wanted to establish herself aboard the El Salvador. The question was did she even know what she wanted? “Just couldn’t make it easy on me could you,” she murmured in the direction of the dark screen, still smiling wryly.
~
As the El Salvador came into position on the outskirts of the Tural Nebula in preparation to transition to the Mirror Universe, Megan was at her station. Before arriving on the bridge, she had drafted a message to her department, informing them of her arrival, making her introductions, and assuring them considering her arrival was so soon after the beginning of a new mission, she would conduct a staff meeting and begin establishing a new order over the department when time permitted, but until then, they should continue as before, but bring any issues to her should they require additional assistance. This would allow a chance for her to observe them first, as well as figure out what her place would really be.
And so, Megan sat at the auxiliary science station, allowing whoever had already received the bridge shift to remain at the primary station, an arrangement she had also established on the Jefferson to allow her more freedom to participate in missions and administrative work without leaving the bridge’s science station under or unstaffed. It was a procedure that had served her well in the past, and she saw no need to change it now. The cross over itself was relatively smooth and generated a fascinating amount of scientific data, both on the nebula, the interactions with the warp core, and the transition itself. The Commander had never dealt with alternate universes before, not necessarily a result of her intentional avoidance but certainly not something she felt deprived of experiencing. Truth be told, it wouldn’t be something she’d complain about had she gone her entire career without a trip to another universe, let alone this one, but unfortunately, there was no turning back now.
After giving it some thought, as much as she could manage within the time constraints, Megan had made up her mind. She was going with her first instinct, and as such, she had to speak with Savot as soon as the situation permitted. Commander Garrett was already rehearsing what she wanted to say even before the crossover and renewed her efforts as soon as the Prometheus class vessel had safely arrived on the other side. Her mental speech-writing was put on hold, however, when she rather unexpectedly heard her name.
"Megan? What are you doing here?" the obviously astonished doctor exclaimed in shock.
Wincing internally at the use of her first name and feeling the eyes of the bridge crew on them now, Megan briefly regretted not speaking to him earlier, but considering her current state of unrest, and Nathan’s penchant for sedating her when he felt she needed it, not to mention the time constraints, it really hadn’t been an option. “Doctor van Breughel,” she began in a calm, even tone, trying to remain as professional as possible. “I requested a transfer as well, and was assigned as the El Salvador’s Chief Science Officer. I apologize that I did not inform you earlier, but I only just arrived two hours ago. Ensign Garrett and Lieutenant Commander Tavik are also here,” she added, indicating towards Valad at Ops.
<Tag Nathan>
“I will speak to you again later, but I do not believe this the time or place for an extended conversation,” Megan replied, already feeling conspicuous talking like this on the bridge. “In fact, if you will excuse me, Doctor, I have some business that I need to attend to now.”
<Tag Nathan>
Trying to shake the awkwardness off, Commander Garrett moved from the auxiliary science station toward the command center and approached the Commodore. “Sir, if I may have a word with you in private. There is something I wish to discuss with you,” Megan requested.

Joint post between Myself and Ensign Garrett
Having set up the schematics of the Penance ready to be viewed in holographic form; John cold only wait for the two officers to arrive, his new security officer being the first to do so. "Ah Ensign Garrett" He smiled, "I don't think I introduced my self while we was on the bridge, I'm Lt. Commander John Roberts"
Oh he was even cuter when he smiled! This was going to be fun. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, officially, Sir,” she replied with a smile of her own. “I’m glad to be here and excited to get started! My specialty lies more in security, investigations, and interviews, but I believe you can never get too much experience, and of course, I do have tactical training also.”
"Well Ensign that's certainly useful, I much prefer to blow things up" he grinned, giving a little wink. "Before we get side tracked too much, I should bring you up to speed on the mission objective" John set himself for a moment, he was taken a little off guard, it wasn't often he found himself so comfortable around some one, the last person being Wolf. "The outline of it is that myself, and two other officers shall be infiltrating the Penance, making our way to main engineering" He said, pointing to the location, "The main problem is how we get aboard undetected, and get ourselves off with enough time to ensure the survival of the away team" He paused for a moment, "The only saving grace is that this beast is still under construction, so crew will be minimal I should think, still, its best to find the best possible route with the likeliest chance of having as few crew members as possible"
The wink made her a tiny bit giddy, so once he began actually discussing the mission at hand, Marina had to pull herself together quickly to focus. Fortunately, the situation was obviously dangerous enough to make taking it seriously fairly easy. This was way out of her area of expertise, but at least she knew it wouldn’t be her assigned to the team. “Do you have any indication of where security checkpoints are located or what type of sensor or shielding they already have established?” she asked, hoping at least the question was intelligent enough to not make her look like a complete idiot, as this wasn’t her usual job.
"Sadly not, once we're aboard we are blind as we don't have a huge amount go on besides what we have here in front of us" He looked back at the schematics before the two of them, I would suspect they will be concentrated around the most important parts of the ship, such as the Bridge, the access points from the docking rigs and and obviously main engineering, if we could find a way to take the internal sensors offline, life would be made alot easier as we could try to get as close as possible with the mini sal, and then transport in, but again, main engineering would be crawling with personnel inside" He responded. He had noticed her momentary lapse in concentration, but tried not to show it.
Staring at the schematic, Marina tried to come up with something useful to say or add. It just wasn’t something she had focused on either in her initial training or in her career since. This was way outside her comfort zone. “I guess that’s why you created this program, to try and simulate potential problems and scenarios. It seems like the only option considering how little you have to go on and the high likelihood of getting into trouble. It’s a tough one...”
"Yeah, I've been looking over this on the bridge for a while, but as of yet my mind just creates reasons against my choices. One idea I had was to simply replicate the mirror uniforms and get as far as possible that way, but walking around the ship with two vulcans, well, that wouldn't draw any attention at all. He said sarcasticly, and chuckled to himself a little, "The problem with taking down the internal sensors is that someone will certainly notice, so either way, there's going to be a huge risk involved in what ever option we go with".
Nodding, Ensign Garrett just kept staring at the schematic. The whole thing seemed just about impossible to her, and even a little crazy. How anyone could think this was a good idea was beyond her. “You sure this isn’t some sort of on the job Kobiashi Maru training or something?” she asked teasingly, trying to lighten the mood a little as she could think of nothing else to offer or add that might help. “Honestly, Sir, this seems pretty out there...”
"Oh how I wish that was the case" John ruefully rubbed his head, after almost 2 hours looking over the schematics, he had nothing to show for t besides a few theories, "I guess all I can do is write up a report and give it to Savot, see what he thinks, otherwise we will be going round and round in circles" he added, still rubbing his brow, but now glad that the decision had almost been taken.
Finally having made a decision to pass on the ideas to the man who was ultimately in charge, after all, it never hurts to get someone else's opinion, and John wasn't exactly 100% sure what he could divulge to Marina.

Post by SA. Stacey Jackson [Ret] on Jul 14, 2010 6:28:29 GMT
She made sure she was on the bridge in time for the crossover as it had been apply called, minutes before the ‘jump’ she watched the flurry of activity., scans being run adjustments triple checked.
She leaned back in her chair not exactly knowing what to expect, though she wondered if the ‘jump’ would entail any sort of sensation be it slight pain or queasiness. Eventually systems were declared ready and Commodore Savot made the ship wide announcement. Instinctively Jackson held her breath.
The ‘jump’ was rather lacklustre and in truth slightly disappointing had it not been for the consoles slightly flickering as if only half powered she would have assumed nothing had happened.
It took a few seconds but a dark feeling descended upon her as if a black rain cloud had floated overhead. It was nothing that she could ‘see’ more feel. Explaining it to non telepathic races would have been nigh impossible, but the very ‘feeling’ of space had changed.
A loss of hope was the best she could even describe it to herself, echoes of despair hung in the vast empty space like time capsules left to taunt those who stumbled across them. The feeling of relief exuded by the crew was the only bastion of good feelings in the place as far as Jackson could sense.
Although one of them lacked relief and instead was feeling embarrassment and anticipation, Jackson looked in the direction her senses pointed too and her eyes rested on Commander Garret. Whom of course Stacey knew little nor had the luxury of time to get know as well as she would like.
As if awakened from a daydream by a bucket of ice water, Savot’s calm voice spoke in her direction she looked to him and nodded not registering his words at first. It took a few seconds for his comment to sink in and before she had a chance to respond Commander Garret stood in front of Savot and asked to speak with him in private.
Looking from Garret to Savot Stacey said. “I will see to the arrangements Captain.” Saying what didn’t need to be said, that when Savot left to speak with Garret she would hold the fort so to speak.
Watching Garret follow Savot into the ready room Stacey stood and looked around at the bridge crew, that now included the new Doctor. “Helm set a course for the closest uninhabited solar system and find us a nice place to hide.. someone may have detected our grand entrance.. and I would like to skip the welcoming party for now .”
Waiting for the response that came swiftly “A red giant star system is two light years away Ma’am.. preliminary scans indicate no ships or inhabitable planets.”
Smiling slightly Stacey said. “Warp five… Hit it.”
The Stars on the view screen shifted from still to lines of light that streaked by in flashes of white nodding to herself she looked to Garrets replacement at the Science station and said. “Run continual scans of the area.. record everything I am sure there is more than one scientist that would love to pour over data on the mirror universe.. compare the position of dust particles.”
Her next concern was the away mission to the outpost for information gathering, an outpost she knew next to nothing about. Hitting her comm. badge she said. “Computer open a comm. channel to Mirror Savot.”
It took a moment the clarification needed as to not accidentally open a channel to Captain Savot.
“Mister Savot.. Would you please join me in the mess hall.. your escorts will show you the way.”
<Tag Mister Savot>
Looking to the next highest ranking officer still on the bridge Jackson gave a nod and said. “Lieutenant Hagan you have the bridge.”
**Mess Hall**
She sat down and watched her cup of coffee as the liquid gently came to a standstill. He had considered eating but something about the feeling of this place sapped her appetite, and during her instructor years she had basically lived on coffee alone.
Looking up to see Mirror Savot shadowed by his two escorts Stacey said. “Please join me.”
She waved off his two escorts who moved away to the far side of the room, Looking back to Savot she said. “Mister Savot.. I would like to discuss this outpost we will be making a stop at.. any information you can pass on to me will help make our stop there as speedy as possible… for starters to whom does it belong? And would they take kindly on Vulcan’s… Betazoids and Humans?”
A temporary disguise may have to be used if the answer to any of those species was no.. for a Betazoid to pass as Human was easy enough changing the colour of her eyes was simple enough.. that being the only external difference from Humans.
<Tag Mister Savot>
“I see, well if you could provide information also on the attire worn by the general population I will have it replicated for us before we leave.. I rather think our uniforms are not the best choice to blend in.. and the less people know of our objective and point of origin the better.. I am going to assume the builders of the Penance have eyes and ears on the closest outpost to their location.” <Tag Mister Savot>

[Bridge]
The transition complete, people quickly resumed their attention on their consoles as per usual. After he'd passed his instructions to Commander Jackson, Science Officer Garrett came up to him and requested a private audience, "Very well Commander; we'll speak in the Ready Room."
Jackson indicated she'd hold the bridge without the need for words which was simply one further indication that he'd made a good decision in selecting her as a First Officer. He bowed his head to her in response before rising and going to the Ready Room with Garrett. Once within he moved to his side of the desk within and sat down once more, gesturing for her to do the same if she so desired, "What did you want to discuss Commander Garrett?"
<Garrett>
************************************************** [Mess Hall]
Mirror Savot walked the corridors with his bodyguards in response to Jackson's summons and he held his hands clasped at the small of his back the way Captain Savot so often did. When they'd reached the mess and Jackson waved back the guards M-Savot calmly took a seat opposite her at the table and set his hands atop its surface with his fingers intertwined and merely waited for her to speak.
“Mister Savot.. I would like to discuss this outpost we will be making a stop at.. any information you can pass on to me will help make our stop there as speedy as possible… for starters to whom does it belong? And would they take kindly on Vulcan’s… Betazoids and Humans?”, Jackson queried.
The questions were wise of her to ask, and once more the corners of his mouth appeared just on the brink of turning upward in amusement but just fell short, "The outpost is currently called Lambda 4, and is currently controlled by a female Cardassian named Marel. And though the station will appear a den of chaos and disorder in truth she is well known for keeping things under control. A stable 'work' environment brings in more deal-makers than does uncertain footing."
"Anyone who manages to survive regardless of race is no more liked or disliked than another. Betazoids often make dealers nervous but many employ telepaths of their own to shield their thoughts and so are merely irritated by their presence rather than afraid or angered. Standard casual clothing will allow passage relatively unnoticed though at least those of your security detail should appear somewhat tattered and 'lived-in' to sell the legitimacy", he finished and then had to internally commend the woman again on her astute thinking regarding potential eyes and ears for Penance.
"Though typically you would be correct, in this case the builders' blatant paranoia and mistrust should work in our favor. They have no choice but to hire supply transports but aside from those they will try to keep the external numbers that are aware of their plans to an absolute minimum, as the more there are who know the higher the probability someone will leak the information."
"Just make sure whoever you select to go to the outpost is capable of keeping their reactions in check. It will likely be harsher than the average location in your native universe and getting into a brawl will draw an unfortunate level of attention to us", the reflection finished and waited to see if any further inquiries were on the way.

"Very well, Commander; we'll speak in the Ready Room," the Commodore replied as he led the way to the ready room. Megan was thrown off now, by Nathan’s sudden address and their subsequently awkward interaction, but she had rehearsed what she wanted and needed to say too many times to turn back now. As he settled behind his desk, indicating she could sit as well, she chose to remain standing with her arms resting at her sides as Savot began by addressing her first. "What did you want to discuss, Commander Garrett?”
Taking a breath to momentarily make her final preparations, Megan started directly. “I am volunteering for the mission to the Penance,” she began, getting right to the point. “I realize that you are unfamiliar with my abilities, since I have been here for such a brief time, but I assure you that my presence on a team for a mission such as this would be invaluable.”
Knowing that she was taking a risk being that direct, especially since she didn’t know how well the Commodore viewed such directness, Megan just had to hope that as a Vulcan, he would appreciate her honesty, if not the blunt delivery, so she continued. “I have only known the specifics of this mission for a short time, but I have drawn up some preliminary scenarios for boarding, navigating, and exiting the Penance. Although I cannot fully detail my experience, I am fully qualified for executing an operation such as this successfully.”
Pausing again for breath, she added, “I believe a meeting with yourself and your mirror to fully flesh out all ideas we may have and come up with a series of plans to account for any number of variables during each of the three phases of the mission would be beneficial.”

The doctor's eyes widened in surprise. "Marina and Valad too?" he exclaimed before he could catch himself. He stared at her in dumb wonder, shaking his head even though he appeared quite happy to hear it.
“I will speak to you again later, but I do not believe this the time or place for an extended conversation,” Megan replied, already feeling conspicuous talking like this on the bridge. “In fact, if you will excuse me, Doctor, I have some business that I need to attend to now.”
Because of the promise to be met with later, Nathan's feelings weren't hurt. He was still amazed to be seeing her here, and he was actually relieved because now at least he had someone on the senior staff that he was certain of that he could trust. Not that he wouldn't trust the captain, especially since he was Vulcan, but because he knew Commander Garrett, and knew her probably better than anyone.
As Megan followed the commanding officer into his readyroom, Nathan leaned forward on the railing on the upper deck and fixed his gaze on the main viewscreen. There was nothing in particular to see but a familiar star field. Though he knew they had crossed into what was dubbed the Mirror Universe, it didn't look any different to him, at least not yet.
However, the longer he stared at the stars, the uneasier he felt. He had hoped that, with a transfer off the Jefferson, his luck would change and he'd find himself less injury prone. Now, he wasn't quite so sure as he felt a shiver creep down his spine. Briefly, he wondered if he had a mirror, and what that person would be like. In that same thought, he decided he didn't really want to know. If he had a mirror, he didn't want to know about it.
"How long until we get to our objective?" he asked no-one in particular, "does sickbay need to be on alert?"

[Ready Room]
Savot listened as Garrett chose to remain standing to make her case. He listened without interruption as she said what was on her mind, nodding his agreement with certain points of what she said, as he'd earlier taken the opportunity to review her personnel records.
When she was finished Savot paid her the respect of getting right to the point of his response, albeit politely, "I commend and appreciate your willingness to volunteer Commander but unfortunately I must refuse on this occasion. As you stated we are as yet unfamiliar with one another though I do not doubt your word on your capacity to perform the requisite duties of this mission, and as I myself have sections of my dossier classified I understand that which you cannot go into detail about as well."
"The mission to the Penance contains vastly unknown variables in and of itself; however, and as such I cannot introduce additional unknown variables into the scenario from the side that I actually hold some control over. That being said, I concur with your suggestion to gather those who will be involved both in gathering intel at the Outpost and boarding the Penance itself. At the very least we can benefit from your perspective and assessment of the most suitable approaches", Savot bowed his head slightly both underlining his apology and acknowledging the value of her experience in the planning phase.
"Should you wish you may accompany Commander Jackson's team to the Outpost to acquire the temporal shielding frequency data the El Salvador will need to enter the asteroid drydock, though it is entirely your choice as to whether or not to do so", tapping a button on his desk the vulcan captain spoke through intraship-comms.
=^=All crew boarding either the Outpost or target vessel meet in the War Room in 15 minutes, Savot out=^=, the War Room had to-date never actually been used in all of Savot's time aboard the ship. It was designed to keep track of large-scale battle data involving multiple fleets both ally and opponent to allow better coordination between the Starfleet ships involved, and the largest scale battle the El Salvador had been involved in with allied ships during Savot's time had been the unanticipated battle with a Borg cube alongside the Jefferson and Victory several years before and 3-on-1 wasn't quite large scale enough to necessitate the room's use.
But in this case its multiple holographic displays would allow simultaneous planning and discussion regarding the aspects of both the Outpost team's mission and both the El Salvador and boarding party's scenarios within the temporally altered asteroid that housed the Penance.

In spite of knowing that she was going into this with no idea how the Commodore would respond, Megan found herself surprised. His reasoning was perfectly sound, though she couldn’t help but think compared to his Mirror counterpart she was less of an unknown variable, but she restrained the urge to argue or try to convince him otherwise, as it was fairly clear that such an action would make no difference and potentially harm their working relationship in the future. In truth, she had grown accustomed to having a lot of authority on the Jefferson. She had quickly become first the Second Officer then First Officer, and with Captain Reynolds, she had been virtually autonomous much of the time, so she was used to getting her own way, simply because she was the one making the decisions or at least having the authority and influence to strongly impact the decisions that were made. This was clearly going to be more of an adjustment for her than she’d previously realized.
“If you’ll excuse me, Sir, I should probably prepare for the meeting and retrieve my notes that I had prepared so far,” Commander Garrett requested. “I will return in fifteen minutes.”
<Tag Savot>
Once gaining her Captain’s permission, Megan left the ready room and headed for the turbolift. Fifteen minutes wasn’t a very long time, but it would have to do. She had been aboard for less than six hours, and she’d already been thrown several curve balls. It felt like she was constantly working from behind to catch up and figure out what she should be doing, and it wasn’t a particularly comfortable feeling. However, she was nothing if not persistent and perfectly capable of thinking on her feet when necessary, and this was no different. If she could not convince Savot with words that she should be on that mission, she would convince him with her actions, by getting those codes, or at least contributing directly to their retrieval. That still didn’t mean he would change his mind, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t do her best to try. She wasn’t the type to give up easily, and she most certainly wasn’t out of this yet. She’d figure out what to do next if she still wasn’t ‘invited’ when it came to that, but she was determined to continue making her point without words.
~
Thirteen minutes after her conversation with the Captain, not wanting to be late, Megan arrived at the War Room, datapadd in hand with the notes she had made previously, any ideas she had come up with in the meantime, and several questions for the other Savot. She wasn’t as prepared as she’d like to be, or would be under normal circumstances, but given the amount of time she’d had, Commander Garrett was as prepared as possible, and ready to execute part two of her plan to achieve her current objective: be on that team.

Sara was not a part of the boarding crew she had elected to stay on board the El'Salvador in case there was a situation in which the chief engineer would be needed. In case they went to battle, she had spent the last several times going through the reports making sure that all vital systems were running at top profiency. She stepped out into main engineering from her office and looked towards one of the junior officers. "Ensign, is everything prepared?" She requested.
"Yes Ma'am all systems are running in top order." The vulcan replied sternly then returned to looking at his console running another diagnostic.
Sara smiled and nodded willingly the bajoran walked around the corner towards the warp core itself. Soon, very soon they would be arriving and there was little known in the situation.

She wasn't going to be boarding, but she did make her way to the War Room.
.:.War Room.:.
She entered behind the chief Science officer Commander Garrett she had yet to be given the chance to meet her. Sara smiled, "Commander." She stated softly following her inside, perhaps she would board. Once Commander Roberts entered she would approach him and request permission to join them. Once she saw him she walked over to him, "Commander Roberts, I am Ensign Clarke I am the new CEO I was wondering if I may be of any assistance with the boarding parties?" She asked

The war room, a newer addition to starships in relative terms, only added to the newer class ships in response to the Borg and the dominion before that starship designs never included them. Stacey had never even been in there before, despite her time on the ship, she could only feel that in itself was a blessing.
She entered the room to see three already inside, she shrugged assuming due to her early arrival she would have been the first. A chance to get slightly familiar with the room itself before the briefing started.
She overheard Ensign Clarke ask Commander Roberts for permission to join the away team, She held up her hand as she said. “Away team personell are chosen by team leaders.. in this case myself and Captain Savot… I have already chosen whom I will be taking as I am sure Savot has done the same.”
She smiled. “Your joining me Ensign.. if we don’t succeed in getting the frequency on the supply ships Captain Savot won’t be taking anybody anywhere.” She now looked to Garrett and gave a slight nod. “You too Commander, when the Captain gets here we will outline our objectives and all that business.”
<Tag Clarke and Garrett>
She looked to Commander Roberts and gave a nod. “Sorry to cut you off Commander.. did you have any luck on the holodeck?”
<Tag Roberts>
She walked over to one of the main consoles and downloaded the information she had written up largely based on the information given to her by Mirror Savot. The small details often taken for granted were accounted for, like what to wear was taken into account.
While unfortunately a schematic of the chaotic station wasn’t available she had no real concerns that they would, ‘get lost’. The only real and perhaps over cautious concern was that perhaps the team members she took would find their own mirror versions.. or perhaps even her own.
It would be messy, the inclination to trust ‘yourself’ was strong.. but she knew that no matter the looks people in this universe were very different to their ‘prime’ selves.
She then thought about her own mirror double. What would happen should they meet.. could she be working for the Alliance?.. and would Stacey be able to guard her mind against herself.. would that even possible.
She shrugged as she gazed at the console, adrift in her own thoughts. Only turning when again the door opened.

Wondering whether he was going to be sent anywhere, Nathan entered the warroom, gazing around in awe. Even on the Jefferson he'd never been anywhere beyond the standard briefingroom. It made him wonder if civilians were even allowed to be here. He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his labcoat simply because he had no idea what else to do with them.
The Human doctor cicled the room, not once, but twice, oblivious to any stares he might be drawing. On occasion he stopped briefly to study a display, the excitement clear on his face. Finally, he turned back and walked to a vacant seat, not sure whether it was to be his, or already pre-claimed by someone else.
He looked up when Jayden walked in, clad in his greens and armed to the teeth. A sense of pride washed over him as he saw Jayden walk confidently to a seat across from him and sit down. "Lance Corporal Jayden Mitchell reporting," the young marine announced, "representing the ship's Marine Corps sir." He glanced directly at the commanding and first officer respectively. "And I'd like to accompany whoever goes to that ship with a small unit of marines. Just a safety precaution."
<Jackson/Savot>
Jayden smiled when he saw Megan and Valad sat at the table, remembering them from his service on the Jefferson. He also noted that Nathan made an effort not to keep glancing at them, and arched a single eyebrow in question.
'Later' Nathan mouthed at him, focusing on the PADD in his hands for a moment. "I'd like to go to the space station," he requested, "being a civilian, I believe I can easily blend in."
