Medical Record:
Psychological Profile, Medical File Extract:
Report of Counsellor Lakaena, Selah Sector
On joining Starfleet, Erin was an extremely arrogant officer, most likely due to his upbringing on trill. When he first joined the academy, there was little change. He knew that his father was high enough to be able to get him out of any trouble he could get himself into, and that having a father in such a position gave him an advantage over most of the other cadets. However, as he went through the academy, this arrogance did start to fade away as the course got more demanding. Due partly to making new friends, and partly due to his grades lowering as the course got harder, he was slowly brought back down to earth.
On his graduation from the academy, he was considered to be a reliable and safe officer, with no psychological worries. He was fast-tracked for a command position. When he was placed in his first command situation, he showed his calmness under pressure, and got the job done. However, he started showing tendancies to be slightly over-confident and reckless. Finally, when he sacrificed a crewmate to save a group of hostages, he was brought before the Starfleet Disciplinary Council, and was issued with a formal reprimand. After this, he appered to put more thought into his decisions, and was not so reckless.
Once given a full command of a starship, the USS El-Salvador, his calibre shone through. Gone were his unsafe decisions, his recklessness and his dangerous tendencies, and in their place a compassion and loyalty to his crew appeared. Soon after this command however, another turning point in his life changed him once more.
When Erin was joined, and became Jira, he went through a patch of time where he was uncertain about many things. He was not sure who he was, what he wanted, and what to do. Starfleet deemed him unworthy of a command through this time, and he was assigned to Starbase Assailant, where it was hoped that Admiral Lin, himself a joined trill could help him through this period of change. The decision paid off dividends, and after a short stint back on the USS El Salvador as Chief Engineer, Jira was placed in a command once more.
Medical Profile, Medical File Extract:
Report of Dr Deis Irae, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, USS El-Salvador
Jira has always enjoyed a good bill of health. Since his joining however, he has shown a few signs of weakness. He has been much more prone to minor ailments and infections, including complaining about a repetitive ache on the left side of his chest, which is believed to be the location that Nerki was shot in when she was assassinated. However, in spite of countless tests, there has been nothing discovered to indicate an actual physical problem there.
Hobbies & Interests:
Harrias' language skills have resulted in him gaining an interest for different cultures and belief systems. He is not religious himself, but respects all other religions. He loves archaeology and spends a lot of his leave periods away on some remote planet, working as part of an archaeological dig. He also enjoys a range of outdoor sports, including kayaking, rock climbing, paragliding and tunnelling.
Qualifications:

History:
Born Harrias Erin in Centurian City on his native Trill, it was apparent from a young age that Harrias would be a prime candidate for Starfleet. With a father on the federation council, and his mother a primary school teacher, his targets had been set high. After receiving a degree in Language and Linguistics, he was accepted into Starfleet Academy.
After graduation in 2374 at the prime old age of twenty five, Harrias was immediately assigned as a junior science officer on the USS Venture sent to the frontline of the Dominion War. The galaxy class vessel participated in both Operation:Return and the First Battle of Chin'toka. The ship was among the minority, surviving the war, in which it participated for over a year. His experiences in the war zone had changed Harrias deeply, and soon his leadership shone through. He served for another year and a half on the Venture in his role as part of the science department, before receiving a transfer to the USS Lakota as one of two Assistant Chief Science Officers.
The Lakota was assigned to patrol the federation side of the Romulan Neutral Zone. During his time in the position, Harrias oversaw the removal of many of the probes along the border of the zone, replacing every other one with a new design of probe. The project was headed by himself and the Lakota's chief engineer; Rachael McLaughlin, a woman with whom he became romantically involved during his time on board.
In mid 2380 he received the offer of a Chief Consultant on Project Mykenae, based at Utopia Planetia. The project, which was for the design of a science based runabout to act as the combination of a scout and a research vessel, was something that he couldn't turn down. He parted from McLaughlin with a heavy heart, but the feeling that he was doing the right thing. Again, his leadership skills were commented on and praised, and so it was that in early 2383, only nine years after his graduation, the trill was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and given a chance to prove himself as first officer of the USS Trident.
However, it was another seven years before he would climb the final wrung of the ladder. In January 2390, Harrias Erin was assigned to the USS El Salvador-B as commanding officer. It was not to be though, as only three months into this command, the trill was offered a symbiont. Accepting the offer, he travelled to trill after arranging a short period of leave with his superiors. Complications in the procedure however, meant that he wasn't to return to starfleet for another two months, after which time due to circumstances, the El Salvador had been assigned a new CO, and the newly joined Harrias Jira was left adrift. Waiting for another command to become available he took temporary assignments on Starbase Assailant as Chief of Base Operations, and the El Salvador as Chief Engineer. His waiting paid off though, and on the 14th August 2390 he was again in the centre seat of a ship, this time the USS Nevada-A.
