Physical description:
Marionette is a metallic-colored gynoid, standing at an impressive, statuesque, and perhaps even an imposing exact 2 meters in height, or 6 feet and 6.74 inches, and weighing exactly 333 pounds in weight, or 151.047 kilograms. Marionette in uniform appears much like Data and Lore.
When not in uniform (or otherwise not fully clothed from neck to wrist to toe), Marionette appears more robotic in nature, with most of her skin being fitted slat-panels of alternating gold/silver duraplast which are affixed with small screws, resembling an armadillo-like skin of very close-fitted half-plate armor. Accenting this are seams and sections of a black cloth-rubber-latex material to allow for more mobility of a joint, along with small glowing diodes or lights, a partially exposed spine which has LED's in each vertebra, and other technical visual details. Marionette has a perfectly symmetrical face, down to the nano-meter, with full and shapely lips, a small cute nose, a soft rounded chin and jawline, with slightly flattened cheeks, and ocular implant eyes with mirrored lenses.
Marionette's long black hair is typically kept up in various approved on-duty hairstyles, such as mobius coils, a basic bun, a french braid, or sometimes twin buns of various styles (odango, hopi butterfly buns, ect). Her electrostatic micro-wire hair is as strong as most metal wires of comparable diameter, but may sometimes react to external magnetic fields. Unbound, her hair is precisely one meter in length from the scalp. Marionette has no body heat, and no fingerprints on her fingertips, therefore consoles do not register her touching as 'activation'. To solve this, she must wear heated synth-leather gauntlets with rubberized tips that have a spiral pattern on the fingertips.
She also does not have individual 'teeth', but rather a continuous dental ridge (often misnomered by others as 'dentures'), which is shaped to vaguely mimic teeth.
Marionette also has a pair of interchangeable Vulcan ears, a gag-gift from some of her fellow starfleet cadets, much to the annoyance of some Vulcan crew members, and the bemusement of most everyone else. The joke of getting Vulcan ears is thusfar lost on her.... (since destroyed, Raven-B)

Report of Counselor Thalia Bresenni, Starbase 419 (Stardate 91.0622 to 91.0708)
Well, this is a new one on me, sending a robot to me for a psych-eval..... If i didn't know better, i would be apt to think it was a practical joke.
anyway,
I am very impressed with how articulate and interactive it is, and the knowledge it has already downloaded. It is so human-like that i find myself taken aback by my own thoughts of wanting to call it 'she' and 'her'. My applause to Marionette's builders; they have created a veritable work of art in motion and inter-activity. I'm not one to spread rumors, but Ive heard some talk that a cadet or 2 tried to approach Marionette for a date ! surprise surprise !
Marionette (interesting name for an android) seems to be results-oriented. This trait about the gynoid is not surprising, but it concerns me in ethical and moral respects. It is very much like a Vulcan child, even though Marionette has above average strength and speed, and no inherent emotions to begin with. However, even then, i suspect a situation can quickly devolve into blue and orange moralities for her, unless an external index is provided. To a degree, Marionette seems to know this about itself. She is, at the very least, intelligent enough to fall back on the ethics and moralities of her peers and fellow officers.
I suspect that the senior command staff would view this as a lack of confidence, but after spending afew sessions with her myself, im under the impression that the android is outsourcing for information that she cannot generate or analyze of it's own accord.
Socialization seems to be a significant effort for Marionette. i suspect that, for her monochromatic positronic mind, the world around her quickly runs to colors it has never seen before, never mind can't even begin to name, to turn an analogy. Social customs and even turns of phrases and other linguistic components that you and i take for granted, often serve only to confuse the poor thing. She is very much a stranger in a strange land that only seems to get more bizarre by the day. I find it interesting that it desires to be human, more specifically, a woman. It even para-phrased Pinocchio! 'i aspire to become a real girl.'
I laughed, if only at the irony of its self-generated predicament. After that, however, is when she said something i don't quite remember, but as it left, it seemed.... Vaguely offended, in an intellectual sort of way.... or was that just me anthropomorphising a machines reactions ?
This whole strange brew aside, my professional conclusion is that, aside from the possibility of tampering or computer viruses, Marionette is .... positronically stable. She will make a fine starfleet officer, and in due time, once human enough (if at all possible ?), I suspect that she will make a fine captain, perhaps even of comparable caliber as Jonathan Archer, James T. Kirk, and Jean-Luc Picard.[/b]

Hobbies & Interests:
Marionette is fascinated by gambling games, such as Liar's Dice and Poker card games, for its near-infinite variations in both social interactions as well as the game's own complexities. She also has an interest in music, often composing fairly impressive music on a pair of music synthesizers (since destroyed, Raven-B) , and sometimes singing. Marionette sings in ancient solfeggio (Ut Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do).
The Synthesizers were replicas of a Roland SH-1000, with 88 keys, and an ARP-2600 'Blue Marvin', also with 88 keys (and a micro-octave mini-keyboard, inset center-right and slightly above the main ARP keyboard). Other parts to this musical ensemble included an AXIS hex-button sound-controller PADD, a trio of Dynasty Discolite 'boom-boxes', as well as various cords, in keeping with the retro-replica nature of the devices. At the flip of a tucked-away switch, any and all of the devices can be made capable of interfacing with a PADD, out of necessity of the times.
Marionette also had Leather-bound editions of Isaac Aisimov's collective works, and a replica 3rd edition book of Pinocchio, also leather bound.

Ambitions:
Marionette wishes 'to be a real girl', to paraphrase Pinocchio. This likely also includes such things as the ability to smell, taste, eat, feel both emotions and different sensations, and various relationships, including romantic relations, and perhaps even other bodily functions. She also wishes to understand Love and Humor, and to eventually command a starship, when she is ‘human’ enough.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Marionette is physically very Very strong, intelligent, and can think and react very fast. However, like many, if not all computers, her decisions are results-oriented, which may be morally wrong. Thus far, she requires the morality of others around her for the 'right' answer, as opposed to the 'correct' answer, to a social issue or problem.
Marionette is water-resistant, but not waterproof. She can be out in rainstorms and other disagreeable weather for far longer than a human, but she cannot be immersed in water, such as swimming or bathtub bathing. A variety of in-built data-ports allow Marionette to quite literally, download any basic skill on file - however, there are many things of her interest that cannot be quantified for empirical analysis and/or compiled into a program.
She also has trouble understanding the more complex social rules and unspoken non-verbal cues of human society/humanoid societies that her fellow crewmembers seem to intrinsically understand, as if first nature to them. Concurrently, Marionette finds it very hard to be social outside of sociability-in-passing.
Qualifications:
- Preliminary education - Marionette, as a machine, is able to download programs which teach the basic elements of a given topic. However, the programs only provide for basic competency. Additional proficiency, never mind mastery, must come with actual practice and experience. In this manner, Marionette has excelled in reading, writing, math, grammar, history, geography, mechanical design, basic social skills, several earth and federation languages (including Vulcan, spoken and written), and other such skills in a relatively abbreviated amount of time. However, she seems to be unable to grasp certain functions of language, such as idioms, analogies, and other linguistic non-rules that organics take for granted.
= Secondary education (starbase 419) - Marionette initially learns how to read and play music from Lt.jg Ichigo Tokugawa, using a holodeck grand piano. She later switches conclusive preferences from the standard grand piano, to the more 'post-modern' piano-interface analog synthesizer. She also learned basic robotics, basic warp theory, Introductory Command Protocol, Basic Survival skills, and Emergency First Aid.
She has downloaded afew martial arts programs; Judo, Capoeira, Muay Thai, Kendo and Classical Fencing, and Gunsava (a 22nd century Russian firearms-based martial art). She does not know any of the listed martial arts beyond the second degree, however, even with rudimentary knowledge, her enhanced strength and reflexes, in combination with a wide enough base of basic knowledge makes her quite capable, should the need for physical combat ensue.
+ Starfleet Academy (4 years) - Marionette graduated from Starfleet academy in the top 3 percent of her class.
- 1 - Warp field theory and basic warp design, Basic Command Protocol, Basic Robotics, Earth / Federation History
- 2 - Operations Command Protocol-I, Starship
- 3 -
- 4 - Advanced robotics (this would prove useful for self-modification), Command Protocol, Survival skills, Emergency first aide (again), intermediate field medicine, stellar cartography, Sound design, sound and musical composition, exo-linguistics, Federation History.
Post-graduate - In Starfleet Academy, she majors in Operations, and minors in science and musical skills, but later has a re-evaluation test and takes post-academy classes for re-majoring in Command, just in time for her Conn position aboard the USS Raven-B.
(She has not yet taken the Kobayashi Maru test.)
Family ~
Father: Simon Zachary Harper (creator, played by gordon michael woolvett)
Mother: N/A
Brother(s): N/A
Sister(s): N/A
Spouse: no
Children: no
Other Family: Data, Lore, and B4 may be considered cousins or uncles, and likewise, Dr Soong a great-uncle.
History: Created by Simon Harper, a fan/distant disciple of Dr Soong's works, and a sort of amateur cyberneticist, marionette was originally a mish-mash of various projects, which was then later combined into a single form. However, once activated, Harper found that she was not truly 'alive', as Soong's androids were. At that time, marionette was limited to programmed responses, little more than a positronic ships computer core fitted into a humanoid frame.
After many modifications, none with satisfactory results, Harper could think of nothing else to make her truly alive. Disappointed and disgusted with his ultimate failure, Simon Harper arranged to sell marionette to a ferengi antiquities collector named Norg, of 'Honest Norg's Goods Emporium and Bazaar'.
However, on his way to deliver marionette, Harper's ship got caught in an ion storm which cloaked a severe meteor shower. Harper apparently survived just long enough to scrawl 'Marionette' on a wall before being forcibly sucked out into space. Thus, the privatized Antares-class surveyor, turned mobile sciences lab, 'Carl Sagan' XMC-1505 was lost and adrift.... (It is in question whether or not Harper died, as all 4 of the shuttles are missing, since the shuttlebay doors were left literally hanging open by a hinge.)
- 90.0818 - Some years after Simon Harper's presumed death, the wreckage of The Carl Sagan passed within sensor range of the USS San Jacinto (a Colorado-class cruiser, NCC-76395). The San Jacinto detects a faint borg signal in the Kessel system, and decides to investigate. Finding the drifting wreckage of the Carl Sagan, and a positronic signal, they decide to investigate further, finding a mostly-assembled positronic android. Deciding to finish the android's construction, the engineering team activates it to find marionette as Harper had left it; a pretty automation.
One lt. jg T'mar had an idea to use Marionette to enhance the Astrometrics computer, and proposes to Captain Polly Argentine to let him do it. Argentine approves. However, a cadet assisting T'mar mistakes a power junction for a data port, and over 500,000 kilowatts of ionized electricity surge through her systems. Blue lightning explodes across the consoles as they melt and catch fire, and for 188 seconds, marionette actually levitates, before the plug is yanked. T'mar suffers serious burns on his hands and arms, from yanking the plug and saving the rest of Astrometrics.
In those 3 minutes, however, something unexplainable happens. The positronic pathways quadruple according to the Golden Ratio/Golden Spiral, the previous programming is deep-fried, and Marionette (the individual) is born.
After repairs are made to her, and one month in 'basic operations' education (installation of an operating system, eye-hand coordination, general movement, finishing of external coverings construction, speech education, basic societal rules and customs) and fine-tuning of systems, Marionette was fit for duty and daily life. Beginning as a Trainee, the khaki-jumpsuit-ed Marionette first works as an apprentice in engineering, and limited and supervised apprenticeship duties in the Sensors and Astrometrics Foyer.
- On 91.0103 - During the Zela Pictoris incident, a Neg'Var class klingon ship, the IKS Q'hek Rho, escaped from the Zela Pictoris area when the battle turned against the Klingons. Encountering the attack cruiser, the San Jacinto engaged them, somehow fighting the much larger Neg'Var to a mutually heavily damaged standstill. The Q'hek Rho, deciding to press what little advantage they had, loaded up their transporter rooms and laid shipboard siege to the USS San Jacinto, in a Last Stand attempt. Marionette single-handedly holds the bridge (and the rest of deck 1) by taking on numerous fully armed and fully armored Klingon troops, while the rest of the crew struggle to effectively fall back to relatively secure positions and NOT get killed. Successfully, the San Jacinto does not fall into the intruder’s control, despite crew losses and heavy damage to the ship itself, thanks to Marionette's efforts at defending bridge and deck one.
The commanding officers and surviving warriors of the Q'hek Rho are captured and held for extradition to a Klingon court. After repairs are completed at starbase 514, and funerals held, Marionette is officially promoted to 'Acting Ensign', as well as decorated, and is transferred to the starbase for “finishing school” preparatory education to be able to enter Starfleet Academy.
- 91.0909 - While at Starbase 419, Marionette discovers that a Lt.jg Ichigo Tokugawa plays the piano. Fascinated by music, Marionette takes up piano lessons offered by Tokugawa, but soon switches from the classical grand piano, to the arguably more capable musical analog synthesizer. After 3 months of practice with holodeck-rendered synthesizers, Marionette endeavors to construct her own synthesizers, and selects 2 design models from 20th century earth; the Roland SH-1000, and the era-infamous ARP-2600, although she delays the making of parts in favor of starting and finishing the projects while in Starfleet Academy.
- 92.1108 - Naomi Wildman spills her lunch on Marionette due to not watching where she was going, and in a mis-step, tumbles over the back of someone’s chair. Naomi catches herself, narrowly avoiding a painful facial introduction to the floor, although her lunch-tray flies and flips, dumping its contents (chicken spaghetti and various other sides) all over Marionette as she was watching how eating is done. (splosh !) After alot of apologies, and cleaning up the food, Naomi retreats, thoroughly embarrassed. Unknown to the both of them, Marionette rooms 8 rooms down the hall and around the corner from Naomi Wildman.
Marionette completes the 2 synthesizers, and a controller hex-key panel, 2 days before final exams, and showcases them at the After-graduation party. Everyone except for the vulcans loves the music.
- 97.0907 - the Phadrus is sucked into an emerging wormhole leading to the Andromeda Galaxy, where they encounter the Tarn Vedran Star-Empire, and the exotic Vedran's, centauroid andorian-like blue creatures who were at the time experimenting with prototype wormhole-as-FTL technologies, as well as in the middle of a 3-way civil war. The Vedrans easily detected the Phadrus, and the encounter becomes .... questionable, as Vedran Imperium ships stand off against the Phadrus, under the assumption that the Phadrus is hostile (as all empires are apt to think in scales of paranoia.) Fortunately, the Prime Directive doesn't officially apply, as the Vedrans are obviously a well-off space-faring race, with the means to field warships and equivalent other technologies, even though they did not yet possess a post-FTL status in their technological civilization.
Convincing the Vedran Blue faction (libertarian reformists) that they were not hostile, they manage to open a diplomatic dialogue, and an LCARS download, containing governmental documents (articles of the federation, other historical constitutions) eventually leads to the beginnings of a Federation-inspired All-Systems Commonwealth to be born, which would continue onward for a very long time. The Phadrus returns via another generated wormhole from the experimental wormhole reactor, which detonates the UV star that it was using as a power source. The Humans of the Federation would drop off into obscure myth and legend as 'pale 2-legged elves, who live in the void between galaxies'.
(After the Phadrus incident, the Tarn Vedrans would unfortunately, not regain FTL travel for another 2,000 years, although this delay allows the Blue Faction to come to power and institute lasting and major governmental and cultural reforms to Vedran society.)

~ History ~
