"Klingons would be easier to deal with!" Ephrem fumed as he walked into his office. Both Ambassadors were extremely irritated and the only scapegoat was Ephrem Santos," at least the Klingons would put me out of my misery."
"I'm sure you are exagerrating Captain," Mark said fully aware that his boss was ready to blow a gasket. Everytime Ephrem began talking about Klingons, Mark knew just to keep clam and let him rant.
"No, both of them want to feel like they are better than eachother, if it was up to me I would put them in the nearest airlock and let them duke it out there," Ephrem said wishing he was back on Earth dealing with normal people. The Saltar and Tenris both want membership into the Federation, but they are unwilling to allow the other to live in peace. It sounds like the dark ages on Earth."
"If it was that easy, the Vulcans and Romulans would be friends, that is never going to happen now," Mark said.
"That's because Vulcan was destroyed by Romulans," Ephrem said surprised that he was so easily talking about the deaths of billions of people. The new Vulcan homeworld's location was a closely guarded secret and it would take centuries to get their population above one hundred thousand," plus from what I understand both royal families truly hate eachother."
"If that is the case why are we even trying?" Mark asked.
"Because the Federation has asked us to try and both parties have promised cooperation, both people have a lot to offer and we cannot judge them because it wasn't that long ago that we were just like them," Ephrem said already feeling himself calming down." Please tell Captain Ryat that we will begin our meetings tomorrow and that I would be very happy if she would join me. I don't care what they say, they should be used to a women in power."
"Yes sir," Mark said with a smile. He knew tomorrow would be a very interesting day indeed.

With most of the engineering personnel suck in engineering or sickbay Aly had assigned Commander Zarath to oversee the technical aspect of the investigation and Captain Santos was in charge of interviewing the diplomatic teams.
Zarath sighed; it seemed that he always got stuck with these uninteresting jobs. As for this one, his name had purposefully been specified in the document and he therefore couldn't simply send it off to be followed through by his lab assistant Zarok as he was so fond of doing.
Well, he had wanted to do something involving the investigation, and this technically fit the bill. Perhaps he should be careful of what he wished for in the future, and perhaps the term 'technically' was a bit too apropos for the task that he had ended up with.
Looking up from the numerous tapes that he had been sorting through for the manually loaded computer cores, the Andorian was individually ensuring that every bit of data had been encoded and presented in a format that would be easy for everyone involved to swallow. He figured that while his Andorian brain would process this data in a much different manner than the way humans would, they couldn't appreciate that for the marvel that it really was.
Differences in neural biology! That was a good idea in fact; that is, to present the data in a manner that would be pleasing to an Andorian as opposed to a human. Considering that Vulcans were involved, he assumed that they would really rather have read texts formatted for a mind like his own.
Picking up his communicator with another sigh, Thalin looked down to his tapes and started to speak.
"I believe that I have come to an idea that might make dealing with things a lot easier than you humans make it out to be." He smiled at that all too mechanically spoken line. After all, he was always joyful when he found some way that he was naturally better than people who weren't blue.

Aly wasn't sure she was the best person to help Ephrem with his investigation but she had agreed to be part of the interview process. She was grateful that she was doing something, the warp drive was up and running again, they would be arriving in 39 hours. She couldn't wait to get rid of her passengers. She hoped whoever was responsible for the sabotage confessed and things could be solved soon. The tension levels on the Excalibur were rising hour by hour if things were not resolved soon something would end up giving and Aly did not want to contemplate that.
She sat in the conference room with Ephrem and his aide. Aly had been annoyed to find that she could not remember the aide's name, she had been grateful when he had been introduced as Mark, Aly filed thee name away. She was close to knowing the name of her whole crew and was determined to get there in the end.
Ambassador Meroo was the first called in. She arrived in an eyepopping sea-green robe and accompanied by the youngest member of her entourage. The young aide stood silently at the side of the room as the ambassador took a seat across the table from them. Aly looked briefly at the young man, but then turned her attention back to the ambassador, he would be interviewed in turn.

Jiana Meroo was quite inusulted that she was being interviewed about some damage that had happened while she had been napping. It had occurred near the Tenris's quarters o surely it should be their time the starfleet officers should be wasting and not her own. Still it niggled, there were many people who wanted to see the conflict flair up again so she had consented to the interview. She knew where she had been when the damage had occurred but she had been asleep and so could not vouch for the locations of any of her staff.
Nikoli had insisted on coming with her to the interview 'to ensure she had a witness that things were conducted fairly' he had said. Jiana wasn't sure what his motivation was but was pretty sure that that wasn't it. Still, with three starfleet officers in the room she was grateful for his presence. He sstood silently against the wall, the silence was very unusal for Nikoli and Jiana completely missed the smirk that crossed his face as she settled into her chair.

"Ambassador, as you know the Excalibur experienced difficulties and after our initial investigation we have determined that it was the work of a saboteur," Ephrem stated making sure that his demeanor did not place any blame on the Saltarian Ambassador," while we have not found the culprit of this sabotage, it is our intention to questions every member of your party."
(Jiana)
"We will be doing the same with the Tenris delegation," Ephrem said making sure that Meroo could not object.
(Jiana)
"Also since this is Captain Ryat's ship, she will take the lead in the investigation," Ephrem said as he turned to Aly. While it would most likely come as a surprise, Ephrem knew there was no one better. As Captain of the Excalibur, everything that took place on the ship was her responsibility and being a victim of sabotage usually left a crew feeling vulnerable and scared.

"I am certainly aware that there have been problems on this journey. I am of course willing to co operate with your investigation although I do not see the point. I also do not understand why you are victimising my party rather than the Tenris.
"We will be doing the same with the Tenris delegation," Ephrem said making sure that Meroo could not object.
Jiana had expected that but it was good to hear it formally. She settled back in her chair and guestured for the captain to carry on with the questions. The sooner they started the sooner she would be able to go. It couldn't be any more boring than a parliamentary introduction session
"Also since this is Captain Ryat's ship, she will take the lead in the investigation," Ephrem said as he turned to Aly.
Aly felt an inner jolt of shock as Captain Santos turned to her. She was capable of conducting investigations, of course, but she had initially asked Ephrem to do the investigation as she felt to close to the situation. The Excal was hers and she had been hurt. Of course, she was motivated.
Aly straightened up in her chair and looked across the table at Ambassador Meroo. "Ambassador, I would like to know where you were between 0800 and 1000 today?"
"That's easy. I was in my quarters asleep." She sighed. "I went to bed at 0630 and I was alone for most of that time. Jackali brought me some breakfast at 0945 and we ate together while discussing the mission.
Aly made a few notes and she knew Thalin would be able to check some of these statements with the internal sensors.
Aly thanked the Ambassador and invited the aide who had accompanied her to take a seat.
Jiana allowed Nikoli to take the seat she had just vacated. She didn't know what to make of the look on his face. He was clearly annoyed with the proceedings.
Nikoli Vendres was not happy. Ambassador Meroo was weak and had not told the starfleeters where to put their investigation. As a result he was now supposed to answer questions he didn't want to answer. He sat down and glared at the female captain across the table from him.
"Mr Vendres, can you tell me where you were between 0800 and 1000 today?"
"No. I do not recogised your authority to conduct this investigation and I will not answer your questions.
Nikoli was so stupid sometimes, well most of the time in Jiana's opinion. It was a simiple matter to answer the questions and then they could be on their way. As far as she could tell there was no reason for him to act this was if he had nothing to hide. If.
"I'm sorry about this Captains, with your permission my aide and I will return to our quarters, I will send the the rest of my aides to see you directly." She was planning on having a discussion with Nikoli and the rest of her team.
As soon as the Ambassador and her aide had left the room Tiana looked at the other officers in the room. "Find out where Mr Vendres was when the sabotage was done.

With a slight bow forward in a very alien Andorian fashion, Thalin Zarath started to walk away. However, it was not without a verbal acknowledgment of the orders of his Commanding Officer. He wasn't really stiff; rather, he had a certain respect for the position of CO that very few other officers did. Then again, his dedication sometimes bordered on being a mindless devotion that could be construed as a bit scary. Maybe, someday in the future, he'd get transferred to the so-called Blue Fleet: that section of Starfleet that was made up of Andorian vessels. No, that shouldn't happen, he thought. He'd grown attached to those aboard this ship.
"Of course, Captain. I'll let you know, but I think that
It took only a few moments for him to ride the turbolift down to the deck where he stepped into -his- Science Lab. Even if technically the ship belonged to the Chief Engineer, in old naval tradition, he considered this area of the vessel to belong to him and him alone.
" Warrant Officer First Class Zarok; it's a pleasure to see you."
"Sir, you know as well as I do that pleasure is a concept that is foreign to those who follow a path of pure logic. Nevertheless, I thank you for your purported compliment."
As he settled himself into the laboratory, Thalin Zarath found no difficulty in repurposing a computer terminal for his own reasons. However, what he found was less than what he was hoping for. It was strange that the computer wasn't showing too much on the whereabouts of Mister Vendres at the time of the aforementioned sabotage, but there were probably good reasons for that. After all, it was almost obvious that said records were tampered with. While he did need to get something solid if he was going to report back to the aforementioned Commanding Officer, Zarath soon figured that this might very well have been solid enough.
By tapping a comlink control that was on his panel, he hoped he would be able to establish communications easily enough.
"Captain Ryat; are you alone? There's something I need to talk to you about, but it's rather sensitive to say the least."
Zarok looked over with a raised eyebrow, "I do not believe anyone is tampering with the line if you wish to proceed with your findings, Sir."
"Zarok, don't you understand that you had better be safe than sorry?"
"I suppose that certain additional measures of security are reasonably logical in these situations."

"Captain Ryat; are you alone? There's something I need to talk to you about, but it's rather sensitive to say the least."
"I am alone in my office. As far as I can tell this line is secure." She hadn't thought of her comm officer skills in a while.
Zarok looked over with a raised eyebrow, "I do not believe anyone is tampering with the line if you wish to proceed with your findings, Sir." "Zarok, don't you understand that you had better be safe than sorry?"
"I suppose that certain additional measures of security are reasonably logical in these situations."
Aly listened to the exchange with a small smile. "Give me five minutes and I will join you in the main lab." She cut the comm link and headed off. Aly walked through the door to the main lab four and a half minutes after she had said five minutes to the scientists. She saw the Andorian and the Vulcan looking at a screen. Aly walked over to join them.
"Right. What have you got for me?"

"Right. What have you got for me?"
"Thank you for arriving so quickly Captain; what I was getting at before is that when all of that sabotage was occurring, Mister Vendres...does not appear to exist at all. The records have cleared been edited to hide his whereabouts. For that matter, they have been edited to the point that he is essentially a persona non grata: a non-person. He doesn't even seem to exist from our point of view. Surely, I believe that should be enough information to allow the investigation to proceed."
Zarok looked up with a raise of his eyebrows, "Mister Zarath, surely you understand that such conclusions are not, in themselves, logical."
"Whoever said that I care about logic?" The patience of the Andorian seemed to be growing rather thin as he felt that his assistant almost purposefully attempted to tamper with him at times. Vulcans claimed not to do such things, but he was no longer so sure about that.
"Do you believe, then, that I am correct in such conclusions? I would have to say that it certainly appears to be that way."

OOC: This is a wrap up post, feel free to add your own final post
Commander Zarath's evidence had been presented to Ambassador Meroo, she had seemed only too happy to revoke her aide'ss diplomatic immunity which made the rest of the investigation rather easier.
By the time Commander Savin had managed to repair the damage done evidence haad been gathered and Nikoli Vendres was in holding. The rest of the trip had been easier seemingly both sets of Ambassadors had realised how many people wanted their mission to fail and had become determined that it wouldn't. Aly had seen both sets of diplomats sitting down to soup in the mess and it had remained civil throughout. Still she was relieved when she was able to off load her passengers, all of them. The crew had done well on this mission and had more than earned their shore leave.
