OOC: Please see the mission brifing post and feel free to make comments there.
The Excalibur was safely docked at starbase 7, Aly felt much less stressed than she had in a while, she concluded that that was probably a good thing but she wasn't entirely sure why she suddenly felt less stressed. The crew didn't stop being hers because they were on shoreleave...
Her paperwork had dropped and she was planning to spend some time doing some shopping on the station maybe get a few knick-knacks for her still rather empty quarters...
She changed into some civilian clothing, she didn't have a lot of options maybe that was something else she should buy. She settled on a loose fitting pair of black trousers and a purple-blue v-necked jumper. Aly quickly braided the front of her hair back leaving it down at the back. She tended to put it all up when she was on duty. Then she put her communicator in her pocket and went off to enjoy her shoreleave. She had many plans but was also wondering howlong it would be before someone iterrupted her with some isssue or other that required the captain's attention.

Jennifer Wilkins was looking forward to her shoreleave. She was planning to get a few bit and pieces for her quarters. She had had really good news her fiance had managed to get a transfer to the Excalibur and they wre intending to get married. Simon was a sensor technician/operator on starbase 7. Jenni hurried to be read to leave the ship. She dressed in black trousers and Simon's favourite fluffy indigo top. She had chatted to him over the comm but it just wasn't the same. Jenni stuffed the last of her things into a box and then survayed her quarters. They hadn't been bad but with Simon coming aboard they had been given quarters together. She smiled at the thought. She left the ship, she was the third through the docking tube. Simon was standing there waiting for her he broke into a massive smile wrapped his arms around her and spun her around. Jenni laughed when her feet left the floor.
When they had finished catching up over coffee, Simon and Jenni walked towards the shops intend on findinf some interesting things for their new quarters.

Just like his commanding officer, Thalin wore civilian clothing, but considering that he was an Andorian, what that entailed was far different than what a human might have been used to. With boots that tightly laced up the front, pants that seemed to be somewhat loose fighting while easy to move around in and a top garment that resembled a fabric that was something similar to silk, Thalin Zarath looked even more alien than he usually did.
Moving forwards with a few stretching motions, Zarath exhaled and actually, for once, looked far less serious than he usually did. Though he was apparently heading for a store as well, he had little in common with the purple jumper and black trousers that Aly was wearing. With a second exhalation, he felt those aforementioned boots step out onto the station's deck plates and he knew that, at least for the current period of time, he could enjoy himself in a way that he would not usually.
Slowly approaching the individual he would have otherwise called Captain if this were anything else, Thalin did not have any reason to do at the time being. Instead, he decided to experiment with a very human concept and, for once, he decided to pull out a joke and lay it on the other.
"Aly, I would let down my hair if it wasn't down already, as well as silverish-gray and worn in a ball." Well, it came out quite alien, but there was no way that he ever could have known that.
"Honestly, though, I certainly hope that I am not bothering you. Recently I remarked to myself, in private, that I know remarkably little about your own personal life." The science officer blinked slowly, believing this to be a completely correct and polite manner of beginning a conversation. Should she have been offended, he would have hoped that she would understand his lack of foreign communication methods. Naturally, though, at the moment no such hopes existed because the fear did not exist to begin with.
Considering that Jennifer Wilkins was already more than likely conversing with Simon, it seemed that if he were going to meet anyone from the vessel besides Zarok, it would have to be Aly. At least, he had no reason to believe that she was going to visit anyone in particular. With a few twitches from his antennae, Zareth looked back and awaited the other individual's response to his attempts at humor.

Aly was strolling through the shops. She hadn't bought anything but she was enjoying just being relaxed. She spotted Jenni, it did not take a genius to guess the identity of the tall blond man whose hand she was holding.
Jenni spotted the Captain in civvies and waved attracting the other woman's attention. She wanted Aly to meet Simon and she knew the Captain would want to see the newest member of the Excalibur's crew. This might also be her chance to slip off and get Simon a surprise for their new quarters.
Aly walked over to the couple. "Jennifer it's good to see you. Glad you are enjoying your shoreleave." She shook hands with Jenni. "Alyana Ryat, USS Excalibur." She offered the hand to Simon. "You must be Simon, it's good to finally meet you."
Jenni watched Simon shake Aly's hand in a slight daze, he had obviously not expected to meet his new captain while out shopping. She smiled broadly. "Aly, can you do me a favour?"
Aly's eyebrow quirked. She and Jenni were close from the days when they worked together in communications. These days they scrupulessly followed protocol when they were on the ship, but off duty and on shore leave different rules applied. "Sure, as long as it won't take too long."
Jenni smiled as Aly agreed to help. "Five minutes, ten maximum. I just need you to hold on to Simon for me while I run off and pick up a surprise for him."
"I think I can manage that." Aly knew that Jenni was always prompt with her timings and she had no problems with aiding the getting of a surprise. Simon seemed to be doing an impression of a goldfish while Jenni scurried away. Guessing that he was a little surprised at being left with his new captain Aly decided to take pity on him.
"You know Jenni was my assistant chief before I got my promotion?" He nodded. "Well we are still friends although on duty we try not to show it too much." Simon blinked a few times apparently this was starting to make some sort of sense. "I guess after that surprise I owe you a story or two. Have you heard this one.... It was about two months after I joined the Excalibur, I was a lieutenant and Jenni lieutenant j.g., we were pulling a double shift trying to repair the comms array, intermittent glitches had been getting worse. We ended shoulder deep in the circuitry where we eventually found a white spikey pulsating object that seemed to be plumbed into the main translation grid....
The two of them continued to talk, neither one of them noticed a dark haired male on the other side of the concourse pull a communictor out of his pocket flip it open and start speaking.
"I've got eyes on the Captain here. She's wearing a purple top and has her hair down. She's chatting to a 2 metre tall blond human male wearing a bright green shirt."
He snapped the communicator shut and slipped it to a pocket before wandering quietly into the passing crowds.
"...And that was how the whole communications department wound up scrubbing cables due to a misplaced cup of coffee."
Simon scrubbed tears from his eyes. Aly glanced up in time to see Jenni hurrying back with a large package wrapped in silver paper. Aly waved.
Jenni grinned, Simon seemed much more relaxed now. No doubt Aly had been telling stories again. She could spin a yarn like no one Jenni had ever met it almost seemed that she had had a lifetime of practise. No doubt she'd hear about it all soon.
She hugged Simon keeping the parcel away from him. She thanked Aly and they parted company. No doubt she would have to deal with Simon's questions about the content of the package for the next couple of hours but that was part of the fun.
Aly hadn't walked more than three paces away from Simon and Jenni when she spotted Thalin. He was not the only Andorian on base of course but she was a good enough observer that she was sure of her identification even before he approached her.
"Aly, I would let down my hair if it wasn't down already, as well as silverish-gray and worn in a ball."
Aly had to giggle at that, it was an intriguing mental image, she was pretty sure that he was joking, if he wasn't then she was in trouble. "Most magnificent it looks" she said through her giggles. Andorians tended to have difficulties with human style humour, that he was trying it out on her was something of an honour.
She got control of herself quite quickly. "It's good to see you Thalin."
"Honestly, though, I certainly hope that I am not bothering you. Recently I remarked to myself, in private, that I know remarkably little about your own personal life."
That was certainly a blunt query but it was honestly meant and she had heard far far worse.
*I would be grateful to converse with you* Aly said in Andorian. She knew she was badly out of practise. *In return I ask aid in my language use. Shall we go for ...* "...coffee." She completely failed to find the Andorian word she wanted and had to resort to the standard equivalent.

Even if there were a few more Andorians present on the facility, it was probably a sure bet that he would still be extremely noticeable. He wouldn't ever want to be accused of pulling out the species card, but Thalin knew very well that blue aliens with antennae sticking out of their head were probably rather noticeable. He never minded, either. There was a time a while back where he actually had those aforementioned head appendages broken off. When that was the case, the Master Chief - who was at fault for breaking them - had to make special tactile controls for all of his equipment. He was used to having to deal with what might have been deemed special arrangements, though it was clear that he didn't think of them as anything special.
Thalin didn't, after all, wish to be treated any differently than anyone else. That was perhaps why he was trying to experiment with human humor as opposed to continuing the expected behaviors of his own species. In any case, he was quick to respond in a positive sense to her aforementioned giggles. Looking up a bit, he blinked once again and exhaled. "You...actually like it?" Well, then again, what Andorian didn't have hair that looked like his? It was pretty much the hairstyle for everyone in his part of the galaxy.
"It is good to see you too, Cap..." He cleared his throat, wondering if it was considered best by human standards to be a bit more laid back with what he was saying at this juncture. It was confusing, but he continued to try to act less like an outsider. "It is good to see you as well, Aly." It almost looked as though it pained him to use her personal name at all.
For a moment, it was clear that Thalin was taken aback. He had no idea that she spoke any Andorian at all. *I am honored that you would consider speaking to me in my own tongue. By the way, the word is coffee.* Thalin looked up, having given her the term in Andorian before switching back to their previous language. "To be completely honest, I prefer Andorian red tea, but I would be completely honored to accompany you nevertheless." After all, there wasn't anything to suggest that the drink that he cared for wouldn't be served at the establishment they were about to go to.

Ephrem Santos quietly pondered his future as he absentmindedly drank some Vulcan tea. He had been offered a new command a week ago, but had informed Command Headquarters that he would need a few days to think about it. Ephrem knew that he wanted a command, but at that moment it wasn't the most pressing issue at hand. He would stay on board the Excalibur and help any way he could. Happy that he had finally come up with a decision, Ephrem put his attention back on his tea.
"Captain I assume you have made your decision?" Mark asked once he noticed that Ephrem had begun drinking his tea with more vigor.
"How would you know that, Mark. Plus I have already told you to call me Ephrem when we are on shore leave," Ephrem said surprised how easy he was being read by the Lieutenant.
"You are on shore leave, as your attache I'm always on call Captain," Mark replied as he ate his now stale sandwich. Having worked with Captain Santos for the last year, Mark realized that he would do anything to make his job easier. "It is my job to know when you make a decision, sir."
"So, I'm guessing you know that I have decided to stay and turn down the captaincy of the Rhode Island," Ephrem said with a laugh.
"Yes sir, though according to the latest reports she was going to give the Enterprise a run for her money," Mark replied," either way, I have already sent Captain Ryat a communique stating your wish to stay on board and she has readily agreed."
"Next time make sure to ask me first," Ephrem said as he finished his tea. His work as a diplomatic officer was important, but if Aly agreed he would return to his old seat behind the communications console for a shift or two. Both men stayed at the cafe for a few more minutes before Ephrem realized that it was getting really crowded. Ephrem preferred small groups of people than a plethora of faces.
"What the hell!" Mark said as he stood up and pointed to the commotion across from them.
Both men quickly ran towards the now apparent fight and quickly began to break it up. Ephrem was surprised that security had yet to arrive, but he would ask the chief of security about that later. In the ensuing seconds fist, legs and foul language was thrown around with ease. A young women was pushed hard off her feet and flew in Ephrem's direction. Ephrem caught her just in time as the women wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Thank you sir, I don't know what happened," the women said apologetically.
"Don't worry about it," Ephrem said as he heard the shouts of security officers all around them," hopefully you are alright."
"Yes thank you," the lady said before walking away.
"Are you alright sir?" Mark asked clearly angry at the situation. It was his job to keep Ephrem safe and for a few minutes he had not done that.
"Yes I'm fine," Ephrem said as he scratched his neck," I think I got hit on my shoulder or neck, but nothing else."
As soon as she was far enough from prying ears, Sofia reported in, "Target is marked, I repeat target is marked and ready for extraction."

Jenni and Simon continued their leisurly shopping trip. Jenni was pleased to note that Simon had not forgotten the silver wrapped package but she hadn't let him open it yet. She was holding a flowing silk sea green top against herself while Simon watched with a smile that was half way between dreamy and a smirk.
Jenni laughed but didn't see the young woman browsing at the rack behind her. She twirled again and her foot caught in the other woman's shopping bag tangling there and throwing Jenni off balance. She stumble but was unable to regain her footing before colliding with the other woman and completely losing her balance. Both of them fell to the ground taking the rack of clothes with them.
Simon and the Denobulan sales woman were at their side in seconds helping them both their feet and disentangling them from the clothes, the rack and each other.
"I'm sorry." Jenni said. "I guess I got a little carried away."
Sofia gave a half smile "No worries, I probably shouldn't have left may bag in the way like that. That top really suited you by the way." She clapped Jenni on the shoulder as she left the shop.
Sofia found a private place and reported in again. "Second target marked. Found her just like you said."
**********************************************
OOC: No worries about the coding.
"You...actually like it?" Thalin said. He appeared surprised.
"Yes," Aly said. "I found it amusing because it was simple and unexpected."
"It's good to see you Thalin."
"It is good to see you too, Cap..." He cleared his throat."It is good to see you as well, Aly." He didn't seem comfortable with the situation.
*I would be grateful to converse with you* Aly said in Andorian. She knew she was badly out of practise. *In return I ask aid in my language use. Shall we go for ...* "...coffee." She completely failed to find the Andorian word she wanted and had to resort to the standard equivalent.
For a moment, it was clear that Thalin was taken aback. Whether by the language or the topic of conversation Aly wasn't sure. She spoke 24 languages although clearly her Andorian was out of practise. goodness only knew about the rest. Since ceasing to be Chief Communications Officer she had not had anywhere near the number of opportunities to practise. She would clearly have to work on that.
*I am honored that you would consider speaking to me in my own tongue. By the way, the word is coffee.* Thalin looked up, having given her the term in Andorian before switching back to their previous language. "To be completely honest, I prefer Andorian red tea, but I would be completely honored to accompany you nevertheless."
*coffee*, Aly repeated. "I shall remember that one. As for the actually drink I usually have Vulcan Mint Tea, but today seems to be a coffee day." That probably had something to do with the amount of sleep she had got last night but never mind. "I believe 'Madigan's' serves a pretty good red tea although I'm not an expert."

They had just about finished their drinks when Aly's communicator chirped. She answered it and smothered a sigh. 'of course the yard people would need to speak to her now.' She closed the communicator and then sighed audibly. *I am sorry Thalin. We shall have to continue this later*

Lieutenant Mark Davis POV
Mark felt terrible and according to his boss, he should get over it. That was something Mark was not good at doing and the guilt was starting to do him in.
"You need to calm down, Lieutenant, that is an order," Ephrem said trying to calm him down," I'm fine and you are just like to worry. I'm a big boy and can take care of myself you know."
"Sir that is not the point," Mark said," you are not supposed to get involved in things like this. That is why I'm here. You know that it is not safe for a high ranking diplomat as yourself in this area of space. The Klingons are known to kidnap and kill diplomats like yourself."
"Again, I'm not dead and I'm completely fine," Ephrem replied before ordering Mark to go to his quarters and take the rest of the day off. The moment Mark began to argue with the order, Ephrem grabbed Mark by the shoulders and practically led him to the nearest lift.
Knowing that he had lost this round, Mark decided not to continue his futile attempt at convincing Captain Santos to get a bigger security detail. Mark sighed and did as he had been told.
"Deck 39, officers quarters"
The lift did as instructed which allowed Mark a few moments to clear his thoughts. He knew that he saw as the Captain as an older brother, but those brotherly feelings could not stop him from looking at his job objectively.
"I need to take a nap," Mark told himself as he walked into his quarters and tried to sleep off the last few minutes of chaos.

*Madigans?* Naturally, the Andorian rendering of the term came out rather stiff, but he elected to pronounce it in the manner of his language as opposed to doing so in such a way as to allow a bit of Standard to creep back into his speech. Looking up with a bit of a smile, he realized that the name was, naturally, hardly native to his planet. *In that case, I'd be happy to come with you. I guess that I wouldn't understand what a coffee day is though, since I don't appreciate the foul drink. Vulcan Mint Tea does sound pleasant, though, even when once considered that Vulcans are far too logical for my tastes.*
Complaining that Vulcans were a bit cold sounded rather odd, coming from an Andorian. Naturally, to a human, people from the planet Andor probably sounded just as rigid as Vulcans. However, from his perspective, they were indeed extremely different species and cultures. As such, anyone that suggested they were similar might very well cause an Andorian to be offended.
Soon enough, though, Thalin started to get the wrong idea about their encounter. Looking up with a clear of his throat as he started to say something, his Commanding Officer complained that she had to go. Despite the fact that he continued to speak in his native tongue, Thalin was no longer simply speaking from the point of view of friendly banter.
*Wait a moment; this is about someone else, isn't it? I'm...I'm sorry, I had no idea that you were seeing another individual. I'm sorry about taking your motions the wrong way. I'll ensure that any future encounters are simply professional. I certainly hope that this will not adversely affect our ability to function aboard a starship.*
Though his tone of voice remained in the same sort of qualified tone that it always had delivered his speech, it was clear that something in his words was actually left wanting. Despite his normally stout and dour personality, one might clearly assume that Thalin was human - or more accurately an alien organic species - after all.
*On second though, Captain, if there is a situation on board the USS Excalibur, does it require my attention as much as yours? I would be happy to assist you, of course, if there is anything that you need me to do.*

Aly didn't respond to Thalin's comment, she didn't think there was anything much she could say. The two of them went into Madigans settled at a table and ordered the drinks. They chatted quietly in a mixture of Andorian and standard. Aly was pleased to find that she could understand almost as much Andorian as she had ever been able to although her pronouncation was still rusty.
She was enjoying just having some peaceful time away from her duties with one of the few people she considered a true friend.
They had just about finished their drinks when Aly's communicator chirped. She answered it and smothered a sigh. 'of course the yard people would need to speak to her now.' She closed the communicator and then sighed audibly. *I am sorry Thalin. We shall have to continue this later*

Aly doubted there was anyone else in the room that spoke Andorian, or at least she hoped no one else did. She wasn't sure if Thalin was making another 'joke' or if he was serious, as far as she was aware this was nothing like traditional Andorian courtship. She drew on every one of Ryat's nearly two hundred years of experience to keep calm. She got to her feet slowly.
*It's the yard having an issue with the maintence requirements and I ought to go and sort it before Lieutenant Wiltan and the Base Chief come to blows.*
*On second though, Captain, if there is a situation on board the USS Excalibur, does it require my attention as much as yours? I would be happy to assist you, of course, if there is anything that you need me to do.*
Aly gave a slight smile, she was still unsure what was going on. She switched back to standard "I think it'll be all right with just me, the science department's requirements were apparently perfectly clear. I will let you know if there's anything you can do to help the situation."
She put her communicator back in her pocket and left Madigans heading back to the Excalibur's dock. She didn't notice the woman at a table near the door nursing a very nearly empty mug and watching Thalin with half an eye as she studied a news flimsy.

Naturally, Thalin really had never meant anything negative by his comment about the logical and stalwart nature of Vulcans. To some degree, he actually admired them for that aspect. After all, that was a good deal easier for him to handle than humans were at times. While Vulcans could act in ways that showed a strong lack of emotions, humans acted in ways that were precisely the opposite of that. To a degree, that was just as bad, though he would have to admit to himself that he wouldn't want to ruin this rendezvous with Aly based solely on problems that related to interspecies relations.
Just as she was rather pleased that she could speak Andorian more readily than she had otherwise assumed, he was rather pleased that she was able to speak it because he seldom found humans that were well versed in his language at all. Granted, in his mind he was just praising her further, considering the position that he was in. He was attracted to her as it was, and therefore, anything further was just icing on the cake.
At least, he believed that was how the very human idiom was expressed. Expressions from the planet Earth were extremely peculiar to him. That being said, regardless of how she was thinking, he was not joking at all, and was instead attempting to illustrate how he felt in the way that her species showed it. Thalin naturally understood little of it, but he had hoped that it would turn out better than it had.
Then however, she said something that was hardly what he wanted to hear. "The science department's requirements were apparently perfectly clear"? What did that even mean? He knew very well that she was fleeing what could have been an extremely difficult situation, or at least he felt that she was. The Andorian's view of the world was probably extremely skewed.
"You are absolutely certain that there is nothing that you need me for, then?" His words now came as an officer rather than as a friend or even something more than that, and as was usual of many alien species, Thalin's words were delivered without any contractions. Even though he knew very well that he was asking because he wanted to be along side her, Thalin still felt it necessary to maintain the usual level of decorum that he would have held with her whenever they discussed any matters of the ship. Fortunately, he was not an engineer. Engineers always knew the vessel was their first love above anything or anyone else.

"You are absolutely certain that there is nothing that you need me for, then?" Tiana sighed internally, how did she answer that. "You are a good officer Thalin and also a good" she swapped back to Andorian knowing that terms were better defined in that language *friend.* Tiana used a word meaning somewhere between a comrade in arms and a sibling. "You have made my captaincy much easier."
Tiana returned to the ship where the 'debate' between Lieutenant Wiltan and Master Chief Tanish was still raging. She was not looking forward to dealing with this.
******************************************************
"Back in a minute, Simon" Jenni scuttled off to look in one last shop before they returned to quarters. She didn't seen the dark haired man in the next aisle that was seemingly talking into his sleeve.
"Target One is alone. Transport now."
"What's going..." The room around her was grey walled. A dark haired man put his hand on her arm and Jenni was too surprised to pull away. There was the hiss of hypospray and she collapsed to the floor.
He considered the unconcious woman on the floor for a moment then picked up his communicator again. "Target One is contained."
******************************************* "Back in a minute, Simon" Simon smiled tolerantly and tried not to roll his eyes as his fiancee hurried off; it would be longer than a minute before she returned but he didn't really mind. He could sit here and enjoy his tea for a while longer.
Ten minutes passed and Jenni had not come back. Simon got to his feet and headed towards the shop Jenni had gone into. There was a blonde sales assistant present but no Jenni. He looked around the shop and then asked the assistant who had apparently not seen Jenni at all. Simon could feel panic rising. She couldn't have gone too far, she had probably just gone into another shop. He check back in the tea shop and still could not see her. Both of them were on leave so neirher of them had communicators on them. He would have to do this the old fashioned way. He started looking. Another ten minutes and he'd see if he could get a station wide search started. No doubt she'd tease him about his worry later.

Jenni opened her eyes and blinked her head hadn't hurt like this since the day after her Academy graduation. There the was a light shining into her face, it was on the ceiling above her but it seemed far to bright. She groaned and turned her head, everything around her blurred for a moment and then came back into something resembling focus, that was when she relalised that she was wasn't alone. She was laying on the floor of what appeared to be a living room. There were two other people laying the floor. She could focus on them, she hoped they were only unconscious like she had been. Of course, if there was anything else3 wrong with them she didn't think she could do anything about it. Everything ached and the room refused to stay in focus.
What had she been drinking.?She's been out shopping with Simon and then everything went fuzzy. Where was she?? How had she got here? Where was Simon?
There was a groan. At least one of the people in the room was starting to come round. They were probably feeling about as good as she was. Jenni debated whether she good get up, unlikely at the moment. She settled for propping herself up with her forearms. Raising her head a few centimetres from the floor did not make the ache in her head better but it did not make it worse either

It took Ephrem a few seconds to accept that the ringing that he was hearing was only in his head. The pounding in his head felt like he had just gone twelve rounds with a mean Nausicaan, though Ephrem had never heard of a nice Nausicaan. When the pain in his head subsided to a reasonable level, Ephrem's instincts told him that he was in great peril. Having abstained from any good drinks, Ephrem knew that there was no logical way for him to have gotten that messed up. That meant that he had been drugged and from the surroundings around him, he knew that he was no longer in a safe enviornment.
It took Ephrem a few more seconds to realize that he was not alone in the room, which caused him more distress than comfort. If he was alone he wouldn't have to worry about saving anyone else. He would not be able to take chances that he would otherwise.
"I know you," Ephrem stated barely more than a whisper," do you know how we got here?"
(Jeni)
Understanding that it would be impossible for any of them to know what was really going on, Ephrem decided to wait for their captors to make their presence known. His position as Federation Ambassador and Starfleet Captain should have some pull. His thoughts were all but forgotten when an intense white light filled the room which momentarily blinded the captives.
"Stop this! We are Federation Citizens, we have done you no harm, I demand that you release us immediately!" Ephrem declared which was met with complete silence. The silence did not deter Ephrem from repeating his statements and after an hour of yelling, his voice began to crack.
"What the hell do these people want from us?" Ephrem asked of his fellow captives who by now had all woken and adjusted the best they could to the blinding light.

Jenni dragged herself to hands and knees and approached the nearest figure. It was very difficult to focus on him.
"I know you," Ephrem stated barely more than a whisper," do you know how we got here?"
Jenni managed a tiny smile but if he was having as much trouble focussing as she was then he wouldn't see the expression. She forced herself to think, she kept her voice as low as possible to avoid aggravating the aching in her temples. "You do know me, Sir. I'm Jenni Wilkins, Lieutenant, Excal's aCCO." With effort she rearranged herself into a sitting position, she could almost convince herself that she was feeling better. "As for how we got here, I was shopping on the starbase. I remember being grabbed and I assume whoever it was shot me full of something." she rubbed the back of her neck.
"Do you remember anything, sir?"

The lights came up suddenly and Jenni flinched as the pain in her head got worse and resorted to putting her hands over her eyes so she could try to think. She heard Captain Santos talking.
"Stop this! We are Federation Citizens, we have done you no harm, I demand that you release us immediately!" Ephrem declared which was met with complete silence. The silence did not deter Ephrem from repeating his statements and after an hour of yelling, his voice began to crack. Jenni wanted to say or do something but could not think of anything she could do or say.
"What the hell do these people want from us?" Ephrem asked of his fellow captives who by now had all woken and adjusted the best they could to the blinding light.
Jenni gave a shrug, an action she could now perform without pain, she was still feeling rather numb about the situation, this shouldn't be happening to her she should be celebrating Simon's transfer not sitting wherever here was.
"I imagine 'they' are trying to get Al... Captain Ryat or Starfleet to do something?" She remembered to keep things formal, but her tone wandered up at the end of her statement turning it in to a question and indicating that she wasn't sure of this thought.

Thalin stood. He had been out for, well, an indeterminate amount of time thus far, but he merely stood. How strange humans were for overreacting to such a simple situation. He knew he had been somehow incapacitated, and he naturally used his internal insectoid organs to overcome the issue at the expense of his mammalian ones. Thalin knew very well that meant he was going to probably be oozing some sort of fluid out of his exoskeleton, but that was the price one paid when one was in his position.
Humans were certainly weak if they couldn't simply metabolize chemicals after they were knocked unconscious and then begin to excrete them out of a different organ. Andorians did that all the time. What young member of his species didn't grow up trying to put a large amount of cordrazine into their teacher's Andorian red tea? It was a test of one's skill. That was especially so considering that the punishment involved a certain giant reptile species.
Exhaling, Thalin started to brush off his sleeves and he finally shut his eyes while his antennae acted on behalf of them. "To be perfectly honest, I do not believe anyone should yell any further. That will get us nowhere quite quickly. We need to have an organized plan of attack at all times. I am surprised with so many brilliant philosophers on your planet, Earthlings could still respond so impulsively. Regardless, this course of speech will not deliver us to a solution either."
"Do you mind if I propose we immediately an immediate enumeration of those who may be harmed or suffering further ill effects of the toxins that they were administered?" He frowned once more. Andorians always seemed so remarkably different in these sorts of settings that it could be seriously off putting to those who were not of the same race. Nevertheless, it should have been noted that the scientist didn't actually mean any harm.
Instead, he was merely behaving in the way that he always would have in these sorts of situations. With a quick glance down, he was soon able to tell that his body had completed the detoxification process. It was a bit more efficient than a human liver, though these aspects of Andorian biology could tend to get a bit messy.
"I suppose that mere speculation wouldn't be apropos at this juncture, though I admit that I am not a detective to any degree. Instead, why don't we think about how to defend ourselves should they return?" Just like an Andorian, Thalin's first thoughts on the matter had to do with defense more than anything else.

Simon was now worried 15 minutes had now passed, the ten he had given himself and then five more just to be safe. He swallowed hard and located a member of the station's security team. He explained the situation and was immediately rewarded by a search beginning. The computer soon announced that 'Lieutenant Jennifer Wilkins was not on the starbase.' Nor was she on the Excalibur. This wasn't good. He bit his lip. Jenni's absence now had to be reported. He knew the head of communications was off station so therefore he had to report to either the Captain or the FO.
It did not take long for him to track down Captain Ryat, she was carrying her communicator.
Aly looked up as Simon approached. He looked frightened. "Is everything all right," She asked wondering if this was a friend or captain question.
Simon started to speak, then realised due to the lump in his throat that the words were no coming out. He swallowed hard. "Jenni's vanished." Even though he had said the words he wasn't sure he believed them.
Aly's eyebrow's shot up as Simon explained what little he knew of the situation.
Tag: Mark if you've found that Captain Santos has gone missing.
************************************************* Jenni watched as Commander Zarath got to his feet, he seemed well enough which was good. "To be perfectly honest, I do not believe anyone should yell any further. That will get us nowhere quite quickly. We need to have an organized plan of attack at all times. I am surprised with so many brilliant philosophers on your planet, Earthlings could still respond so impulsively. Regardless, this course of speech will not deliver us to a solution either."While Aly agreed about the shouting, it was making her head hurt. But a plan f attack... She suspected that this was a trans-species miscommunication but it didn't make a lot of sense to her. Who were they to attack? Still, he was her superior officer so she wasn't going to argue, at least, not until she had a better idea.
"Do you mind if I propose we immediately an immediate enumeration of those who may be harmed or suffering further ill effects of the toxins that they were administered?" Even though she was a comms officer it took Jenni a little while to make sense of that. She had no idea who had brought them here and had all ready given her best guess as to why.
"I suppose that mere speculation wouldn't be apropos at this juncture, though I admit that I am not a detective to any degree. Instead, why don't we think about how to defend ourselves should they return?" That caused Jenni to smile even though she was only just not shaking. It would be good to do something proactive. Even if she didn't think she was much of a combatant, she still looked around "I guess we could dismantle some of the furniture...."

"You are right Commander, I have been acting foolishly," Ephrem said as he listened to the veteran science officer. At first Thalin's calm demeanor was off putting to Ephrem, but it was the right course of action. It would do no one any good to continue screaming like he had been for the last hour. "While you may not be a detective Commander, as a scientist you have an inquisitive mind and that is what we are going to need at the moment."
(Thalin)
"It seems that apart from being from the Excalibur we have little in common. None of us know how we ended up here, but like the Commander has already suggested we must work on getting off this ship," Ephrem said as he surveyed the holding room for the thousandth time," it won't be easy either because we have very little to work with here."
"I guess we could dismantle some of the furniture...."
"Right, well we should get to work, if nothing else it will help us pass the time and plan," Ephrem said as he looked for something to create a weapon.

****************************************************
"Living on a starship was not the plan," Mark said to the young woman on the screen," the captain was not planning on staying on the Excalibur, but now that he has decided to remain I have to as well. Gwen I'm sorry"
"Mark that is not fair, we were supposed to go away for a few weeks, now that is not going to happen for who knows how long," Gwen replied clearly not happy," look I have to go to class, I'll talk to you later."
Before Mark could say goodbye Gwen had cut off the transmission. He hated the fact that she was angry, but he knew that was going to be the outcome once he had called her. While the captain was not the most demanding boss he ever had, he always liked to start the day early.
"Boss, I'm assuming you would want to be early on the bridge?" Mark asked as he waited for the captain to answer the door. After a minute passed, Mark became a little worried, because Captain Santos had always answered. After five minutes of no response, Mark was in full blown worry. Mark made his way to the closest communication station and contacted the bridge.
=^="Lieutenant Davis to bridge, I'm requesting a security override for Captain Santos quarters=^=
The doors quickly opened and sadly Mark's fears were realized as the Captain was not asleep in his quarters. Mark knew something was wrong and the only person who could help him was Captain Ryat. It only took a few minutes to find the captain and it seemed that Mark wasn't the only one with bad news.
"Captain, I'm sorry to interrupt, but Captain Santos is nowhere to be found," Mark reported.

Aly was starting to get her head around the situation. How could someone go missing from a starbase? You couldn't simply walk out the door. Well you could but you wouldn't last very long. If one discounted the possibility that Jenni had left on her own it suggested she had been abducted which suggested a ship...
Of course, why anyone would want to abduct a communications Lieutenant Aly did not know.
Before Simon left. Ephrem's aide Mark walked in. "Captain, I'm sorry to interrupt, but Captain Santos is nowhere to be found," Mark reported.
This was clearly bigger than she had thought. There certainly were reasons to abduct a Starfleet Captain even if none of them were good reasons.
"That's two, people missing, then. I'm going to ask the rest of the crew to check in."
She pulled her communicator out and call through to the station ops centre. She gave her crew twenty minutes to report in. She hoped they all did.
"Now, as the only ones who know people are missing we need to come up with a plan, we'll assume that Jennifer Wilkins and Ephrem Santos are not the only ones missing. Any suggestions, Anything that links those two, you gentlemen probably know them best?"
Simon blanched at being addressed so directly by his Captain and could not think for a moment.

OOC: I guess the obvious link is either Communications or Aly herself.

Mark quitely listened to the captain. The fact that Ephrem was not the only person missing raised Mark's fears. Since rejoining the Excalibur, Ephrem had distanced himself from overly dangerous missions. What worried him the most was the fact that his apparent kidnapping happened on a huge starbase surrounded by thousands of people and hundreds of officers.
"Other than serving on the Excalibur, I do not think Captain Santos met the Lieutenant before returning to the ship," Mark said after thinking about all the people both of them had met in the past two years.
"Captain, while one can never assume, am I right in assuming that Lieutenant Wilkins is not involved in any confidential work?" Mark asked hoping that it wasn't the case. As a Captain, Alyana Ryat and Ephrem Santos were privledged to certain type of information. The only people of lower rank that were ever privy to classified information were intelligence officers.

"Other than serving on the Excalibur, I do not think Captain Santos met the Lieutenant before returning to the ship," Mark said after thinking about all the people both of them had met in the past two years. "They served to together back when Captain Santos was the Excal's CO and I was Chief Comms Officer but as far as I know not in the last two years."
"Captain, while one can never assume, am I right in assuming that Lieutenant Wilkins is not involved in any confidential work?" Mark asked "Not so far as I am aware. Has Captain Santos made any enemies in his time as a diplomatic officer.?"

Aly's communicator beeped. she flipped it open "Captain Ryat, this is Lieutenant Petersen in starbase ops, I've checked through your crew roster as requested. As well as Captain Santos and Lieutenant Wilkins, Commander Zarath appears to be missing."
Everyone else could hear the words. Aly really wasn't sure what to say.
"Thank you, Lieutenant Petersen."
Aly looked back at Mark and Simon, she was really feeling a bit lost but she was the captain and thus had to lead. She couldn't let them know exactly how confused she was.
"I can't think of anything he has in common with the others missing excepting serving on the Excalibur."

Mark's POV
"A few but nothing that would warrant a kidnapping," Mark said as he began to run the possible responsible parties through his head. One by one he was able to remove them from contention. It seemed that they were missing a vital piece of information.
Feeling that they were not going to make any progess just talking about the dissappearence, Mark was about to excuse himself when the report came that Commander Zarath was also missing.
"I can't think of anything he has in common with the others missing excepting serving on the Excalibur."
"I agree, Captain, but at this point I highly recommend that we recall all members of the Excalibur and begin an investigation of the starbase and all the ships that have been in contact with the starbase or the Excalibur in the last twenty four hours," Mark said hoping that the Captain would agree with his recommendation.

Jenni was now armed with a chair leg. The door to their room was locked but they had managed to pry an access panel open. Their captors had obviously not reckoned with the ingenuity of three starfleet officers or the strength of Andorian fingers. Commander Zarath had managed to pry a layer of metal laminate off one of the coffee tables and bent the edge of it so they could use it to get the panel off the wall.
The technology thus exposed was rather revealing. Although the room was styled approximately Contemporary Earth, Human normal; the ship they were on certainly wasn't. Jenni wasn't sure what it was.
The Commander and Captain Santos had proclaimed it to be Klingon technology. Then Commander Zarath had jumped up and down a couple of times and proclaimed that the gravity was set to Romulan normal. Of course that didn't make their captors Romulan but it was somewhere to start.
Jenni knelt on the floor and peered at the circuitry, she was desperately trying to remember anything she had every known about Klingon systems, she was sure Aly.., that is Captain Ryat although she'd been a Lieutenant Commander at the time had said something about them but Jenni just couldn't bring it to mind Tag: Captain Santos

"I agree, Captain, but at this point I highly recommend that we recall all members of the Excalibur and begin an investigation of the starbase and all the ships that have been in contact with the starbase or the Excalibur in the last twenty four hours," Mark said.
That made perfect sense to Aly so she contacted starbase ops and had them issue the recall order. Once her crew were back on the Excal she'd let them know what was going on. Of course, it would be great if she knew what was going on by then...
She wanted to pace with frustration but that wouldn't help.
Then her communicator beeped again. She grabbed it off the table almost dropping it on the floor in her haste. She managed to catch it in her other hand and then flipped it open
"Ops Here, Captain Ryat" Aly recognised Lieutenant Petersen's voice once again "Captain Ryat Here, Go ahead Lieutenant."
"Captain, I've got a new arrival here, Ensign Kalelothran. He's assigned to the Excalibur"
Aly pinched the bridge of her nose, she recognised the name, she read the personnel file when she'd been on the ship before... "New Chief Tactical and Navigation Officer, right."
Aly is pleased to have her memory confirmed. "Okay Lieutenant, send him to the ship please and ensure that his luggage gets transferred as well."
Aly waited until Ensign Kalelothran arrived. She offered her hand to the new arrival, "I'm Captain Alyana Ryat. Pleased to meet you Ensign."
Tag: Ensign Kalelothran
"You are going to be hitting the ground running Ensign, we have three Officers missing Commander Zarath, my first officer and science chief, Captain Santos the Chief Diplomatic Officer and Lieutenant Wilkins, Communications." Aly paused a moment to let that sink in, then continued "All three were taken off station seven in the last twelve hours."
Tag: Ensign Kalelothran
"This is Lieutenant Mark Davis, Captain Santos's attache, and Chief Mitchell, Lieutenant Wilkins' fiance."
Tag: Ensign Kalelothran / Lt Davis
Aly knew that she was dropping a lot on the new guy but it would probably be good to have some one thinking about this who wasn't as personally involved as the three of them were. "Any thoughts Ensign?"

Out Of Character Comment: Shado, I'm sorry if I've got your character name wrong but you reported in as Shado, have Kalelothran in your signature and John Hardy in your biography. I'll edit this post to match.
