The design I came up with: the central command platform situated half way in between the upper and lower level, allows the central area to be treated as a sort of bridge: Three centre seats, plus four stations sunk down in front of the centre seats, and four more stations on the walkway behind that up to the stairs, means that the centre seats are within speaking distance of these eight stations, who can then take some of the coordination effort away from the command chairs. That said, if the centre chair stands, and raises their voice, they can be heard everywhere in ops, on both levels.
This design is intentional, as there are usually a small number of players operating in main operations at any one time, so having those players close together on the command platform I thought was better for player narrative, but without removing the wider Operations environment.

For the Pre-Year 2 thread:
I picked the following NPC's to come along on the holodeck mission:
Commander V'Maz (Acting XO), I think he is Vulcan (confirm?), I don't know much of his background. He's quite formal, even outside of the office.
Ensign Paulo Hurel, one of Galwyn Cet's NPC characters, and the highest ranking science officer I could find in the last few missions, so it would make sense if he was acting the Chief Science Officer role. Human, Male, Spanish, Age 30, Xenobiologist/Geneticist. He's a bit of a risk taker, and doesn't always consider the consequences of his actions.
Lieutenant Gavril Miak, our Chief Tactical Officer. Human, Male, Bulgarian. I believe he is a marine in Aeryn Tavik's unit, and was seconded to Starship operations following the betreka event. His father is 'Captain Miak' serving somewhere on S47, but not assigned to a vessel. His english is not completely fluent, he occasionally misses some of the nuances of conversation. He is steady, thoughtful, and sympathetic. I don't know much else about him, personally.
Ensign Allison Rivers, Human, Female, 23 years, American. One of Tavik's NPC's who I've developed a bit. Operations experience in Logistics management, and more recently in personel, working closely with Commander V'Maz. She is deviously intelligent, outwardly formal in most cases, though has a reluctant jokey side.
Lieutenant Almir Marin, human, male, 33, American. Taciturn, hard working, dark hair 5'11''. His punctuality is often questionable, he has a fairly relaxed approached to timekeeping, and is not easily stressed under pressure.

Hi people,
I'll look to wrap up the shore leave thread with my next post, which could be tomorrow or perhaps in the next few days, so that we can move over to the new Starbase thread. If you wish to contribute a final post to the shore leave I'll leave a little bit of time before writing; equally, you can move over to the SB immediately if you'd like and can assume that you're writing for your char after the shore leave is completed.
Thanks, Andy

My notes on the make up of continents of Uafin.
Ooman Negara > First in Council > (Soft flowing language, balanced culture supporting cultural diversity and equality, technical research and development β developed warp drive) > Long continent β mix of climates temperate north, tropical central, to desertified south.
Gleck Synedrio > Second in Council > (intelligence, personal development, competitive, political, individualistic, most sophisticated espionage and communications technology, keenest deniers of Uafi inflence on climate change) > Central northern temperate continent.
DakTu Detholiad > Third in Council > (Warrior Race, Seeking Peace and Environmental Harmony, spiritual, community and family honour-bound most advanced environmental technology β are the Chosen Ones are a subsection of this culture?) > Equatorial Desert-like Continent
Malkosian Gifforan > Fourth in Council (Genetic Modification of crops and animals for survival, mathematics, statistics, ethics are often questioned by other cultures β historically particularly at odds with DakTu β at war) > Tropical Continent south of equator.
Xiaaf Athlaas > Fifth in Council > (Pictorial Written Language β keen explorers, learners, pathfinder, resourceful, restrictive hierarchical/class-based culture, cartographers, geographers, geologists, vulcanologists, marine biologists β constructed underwater cities) > Most northern continent β icy tundra through to temperate.
[+1 race] > Sixth in Council ( > Southern Tropical continent, at war with the DakTu
[+1 race] > Seventh in Council ( > Most southern temperate through arctic continent.

Hi people, further to Simon's image of the Uafin world map posted in the mission thread, please see below for, well, the same but with country and peoples' names noted lol. I wasn't sure from your description Simon, if I had two of them the right way round, namely the Malkosian Gifforan and the sixth race? Ghes

Hi all, I am posting tomorrow, sorry for the delay have been building up to it and refamiliarising myself with some of the mission's older details.
Just as I've written this Simon I've seen you've posted. I'll respond to that, too lol.

Hi Simon, I will have a post up by tomorrow or Tuesday. Sorry to keep you waiting, I've been trying to get around to writing all week. I'm not quite in a position to say this since I haven't yet posted, but come on everyone let's keep this mission going! Once we finish M10: Entanglement, we'll be back at Starbase for a while where wormhole exploration possibilities (for returning to Alpha/Beta Quadrant) will open up. Ghes

Three words:
Come on guys!!
When we get back to Starbase there are opportunities for exploring how we might get home to Alpha Quadrant via a wormhole that's been discovered. There's plenty of scope with the various ships and plot strands in and about the station.
There's also plenty still to explore with this mission too but if you folks aren't feeling inspired we can move on swiftly.
Thanks,
Ghes

Hi all, it seems I've been making these apologies more frequently of late, I'd intended to post for Gheskori tonight but will now do so tomorrow. Will get back into a regular posting pattern in the week to come. Hope you're all having a good xmas period and happy new year.

My intended posting pattern of 'write a post on a Thursday' has never been particularly reliable. I am always playing catch up!
