: On the Victory Bridge :
(Walker and the bridge crew watched as the shuttle went to retrieve the probes. Everything was going very routinely. Walker really just wanted to be on his way to their next mission. He decided to take his eyes off the viewscreen for a second to take a look at some reports as this probe retrieving was quite boring. Suddenly the shuttle sent a message over to the Victory. The message was just static though)
Walker: Try to get them on another channel.
Majeski: I can't get them through sir.
Walker: Keep trying
(Suddenly the shuttle disappeared right before their eyes)
Walker: What the...
(The entire bridge crew watched in shock of what had just happened)
Walker: Report Mr. Johnson.
(Johnson continued trying to figure it out tapping buttons everywhere on his console)
Walker: Was it the work of the Romulans?
Johnson: Unsure sir.... It appears a wave of energy hit them seconds before they fully disappeared.
Walker: I want this ship on Yellow Alert until further notice. Mr. Majeski, Mr. Johnson, I want you to find out whether this is another innocent wave of energy or if this is the work of a ship nearby.
(The two officers nodded and went to work. Walker approached the assistant sciecne officer and decided to oversee the complete scan of the immediate area)
<TAG: Crew Left on the Victory>
OFF: Alright, everyone has an opening now on the mission. Please take advantage and don't be afraid to make a twist in the plot. Just a recap, Chris Majeski, Snowfall, and Owen Johnson are on the Victory. Sokath, Gareth Sagara, Kurzan, and Tiffani Savali are in the middle ages. One additional note, Jimmy Jones is no longer part of the Victory.

OFF: It's Firestorm....Snowfall serves as MC7's personal guard aboard SB Bellicose.
Firestorm mewed as the readings on his sensors suddenly shot off the scale. He had been closely monitoring the shuttle, when suddenly some invisible force seemed to grab it and pull it...~where~ Firestorm thought as he frantically worked his controls.
"Cap-Commodore!" he cried, hopping from one foot on the other as his nervosity increased. "They...They've gone sir! Sensors are off the scale and there is so much radiation that I can't even begin to attempt a scan of what's there and what's not!"

Hearing Firestorm comment about the radiation, Owen checked the scans himself. It wasn't that he didn't trust the science officer, it was just that at times it was better if he himself knew what the problem was so that he could compensate for it. The main type of radiation appeared to be gamma-trioptic radiation but that was extremely rare and quantities of this magnitude should have been impossible to find.
"Sir I am reading the radiation as well. Attempting to enhance sensor output."
Never in his life had he expected to experience the load of work he had found in just these few hours he'd been on board and yet he was enjoying it. Not only was he running scans on the anomaly, he was also checking the ships systems for any abnormalities. Suddenly his console started beeping, looking down he saw that his internal scans for the radiation showed that there was an increase on board and it seemed to just appear without tripping the external systems.
"Commodore, I'm reading increased levels of radiation on decks 7 through 13."

Walker: Have those decks evacuated Mr. Johnson.
Firestorm: Commodore, another anomaly directly ahead!
(Majeski's waited for the order to clear the way)
Walker: All hands brace for impact!
(The bridge crew left their consoles and held on for dear life. Seconds later the ship violently shook like an earthquake. About a minute later the ship was quiet with the exception of the consoles beeping)
Walker: All stations status report?

Firestorm jumped as his console started frantically beeping at him. Annoyed at his own jumpiness, he climbed back into his seat. His tail was flicking in anger and his ears were lying flat against his head. Very conscious of other people also trying to figure out what had happened, the copper coloured Sivaoan peered at his monitors.
"Science station is operative," he announced, then studied the data read-outs. "This is impossible," he growled, as he went on recalibrating his systems. "Sir, we appear to be in the 20th century, all star configurations have changed in comparision to our previous position..."
His paws flew over his console as he continued to cross check reference points. "We seem to have been sent to 20th Century Earth. I am picking up several satelites that we ought to be wary of, as they will be just as easily able to identify as a UFO. And if I remember my history correctly, Earth people, and especialy government people from the American continents, were prone to identify any UFO as hostile." He cast an apollogetic look at the CO, knowing full well that he too originated from the American continent.
"Permission to start scanning further?" he finally asked, knowing that any scan could be picked up by military targets in orbit around the planet, as well as surface satelites. Firestorm's interest was peaqued though, as he had never really been to Earth before. Since he wasn't a Starfleet officer, he never went to the academy grounds either.

Gareth was looking around for any landmarks when he picked up the sound of horses approaching. He cocked his head and listened. 10, maybe 15, horses with riders, he thought. He put away his scanner and turned to the others.
"There are riders comin' down the road t' our left. We should get out of sight," he said.
Tiffany stared at Gareth. She didn't hear anything but then she sensed other minds approaching and nodded.
"He's right," she said. "I can sense their minds. They aren't precisely friendly."
The others started to hear the sounds of horses coming and they all quickly dove into the bush. A minute later, 14 riders on horseback came into the clearing. Two of them started arguing in some language that Gareth couldn't recognize but he did see that they had an oriental man in their grasp who had his hands tied to the saddle he was seated on. All of the others were busy trying to figure out the language when they were leapt upon by strong men. They were all tossed out into the clearing. One of the men stepped forward.
"We found these four 'idin' in th' bushes listenin' in t' your little conversation there captain," he said almost bragging. "They're dressed pretty funny and these one 'ere's got somethin' over 'is eyes."
The leader, or so was assumed, looked over them all and sneered at them. He paused when his eyes focused on Tiffany and a lewd smile played over his lips.
"Brin' th' girl. Kill th' rest of th'm," he said, glancing over at the man. "I'm sure th' girl will brin' a pretty penny down at th' market."
Two burly men grabbed Tiffany's arms and she struggled a bit but without success. Gareth looked at Sokath and saw him slowly shake his head. Gareth was astounded. He was letting them take her? How would they find her? What would they do to her? Tiffany was hoisted onto a horse and they were about to all ride off when the leader stopped and stared at the weapons on Kurzan and the others. He pointed at them.
"Brin' their weapons. They might interest some of the noblemen in the city," he said.
The look in his eyes almost dared the others to resist so that he might have a reason to kill them. None of the crew moved ats the theives went by and took their phasers and the scanners they carried. 5 men were then left behind to deal with Sokath, Kurzan, and Gareth. The others rode off with Tiffany. The men left behind started laughing. Gareth glanced out of the corner of his eyes and saw one man walking around behind him. He kicked back with one leg and hit the man in the chest. Kurzan kicked the legs out from underneath one of the men and Sokath disabled him with a pinch to the nerve. Gareth got to his feet and quickly kicked the man again in the chest, sending him off the edge of a steep hill and crashing into the underbrush below. He didn't wait to see what had happened before he challenged another man. The man swung a large saber around and missed Gareth. However when Gareth ducked, his sunglasses fell off and the man could clearly see his eyes. He stared at Gareth who just smiled and kicked the sword out of the man's hands. He caught it and then drove it into the man's left torso. Blood spurted out of the man's mouth and he fell to the ground dead. Gareth looked over and saw that Sokath and Kurzan had handled the other three but without killing anyone. Gareth winced and put his sunglasses back on. He was going to get a lecture from Sokath for this, he just knew it.

Snowfall: Commodore, according to the computer we're in the 20th century.
Walker: 20th century? What year?
(Walker got out of his seat and hurried to the science station)
Snowfall: 1999 sir...
(Walker double checked and sure enough Snowfall wasn't lying. Suddenly Snowfall interupted Walker's deep thinking)
Snowfall: According to the computer much of Earth was concerned with the turn of the century. Many thought the end of the world was coming.
(Walker thought that Snowfall was going to break out laughing over the report but he seemed more interested than anything)
Walker: Scan for the shuttle team.
Snowfall: Sir, I won't be able to get a great lock even if they are down there. If we get too close to Earth we risk being detected.
Walker: Damn... Is there anyway of getting a more efficient scan off if we're on the surface Mr. Snowfall?
<TAG: Snowfall>
OFF: Alright guys keep up the good work. The posts have been excellent we just have to work a little harder at consistency so we can get a good flow going with this mission. Just to update everyone our Chief Medical Officer Jimmy Jones and our Chief Navigation Officer Chris Majeski have unfortunately been transferred to trivia only.

*tiffani was at first suprised by the crew's reaction to her abduction but she quickly attempted to escape even though she could sense Sokath's thoughts and knew he was already thinking a plan for her relase, she only hoped that something could be done before to much harm came to her then her thoughts rushed to her preivious capture and she became fearful again she struggled as the men rode off and cringed her eyes shut trying to send thoughts to the crew in hopes the could find her. if only felix was here she knew he could she thought* Off: what is it with poor tiffani and getting captured i think you guys just like to see he struggle *G* don't hurt her too badly remember she got a little girl

Kurzan looked over at one of the men who had fallen off his horse. He was in pain, but still alive.
Kurzan: Minor wounds, nothing that would kill him.
Kurzan took out his phaser and aimed it at the man.
Sokath: Excuse me, Mr. Kurzan. What are you doing?
Kurzan: (Whispering) We can't let him live. If we do he will no doubt become very talkative about this encounter. By not killing him we may be contaminating the timeline.
<tag Sokath>
Kurzan: We must find Mrs. Savali. She isn't human and will no doubt attract much attention at this "market"
Kurzan felt something strange in him... He cringed and tried to find out what was wrong...
Gareth: What is it?
Kurzan: I don't know... No wait, it's Commodore Walker and the Victory. Something has happened to them.
The Starfleet officers looked at one another in confusion.
Kurzan: I'm not sure what has happened, but the Victory isn't where it should be...
Gareth: None of us are where we should be.
Kurzan: That's not what I meant. I can no longer sense 'em...
Sokath: Sense?
Kurzan: They are no longer with us... They seem to have dissapeared...
All of a sudden, out in the distance, Kurzan and the others heard a pack of dogs barking and men yelling out. It was dusk and the crew could see candles in the distance.
Sokath: We won't be able to save Tiffany with all these people searching for us. We should find shelter for the night...

Owen's console stopped beeping as abruptly as it had started. Even though he tried everything he had been taught at the academy he was still unable to access his controls. Dammit! he thought as he kicked the console to release his anger. As his foot made contact with the console it lit up again and started beeping again, this time informing him that there was damage to his console. Nothing else seemed to be different although apparently the radiation had dispersed and was no longer on board.
Tapping his comm badge Owen started to speak "All crew evacuate decks 7 through 13. Commander Jameson prepare a damage control team to assess the damage caused by the radiation."
"Commodore the radiation has dispersed however I have evacuated decks 7 through 13 as per your orders and I have prepared a damage control team to ensure the safety of the ship. If you wish to scan the surface for the shuttle crew I should be able to increase the sensor range however we would need to be within 5000 kilometres to isolate our crew, after all how many betazoids, vulcans and el-aurians could there be down there?"
Without waiting for a response Owen started to enhance the sensor range while also pondering how to 'hide' the ship from the earth sattelites.

(Walker stopped a few moments to consider possibilities of hiding the Victory from detection. This was a very tough situation to deal with as a CO. If the Victory was detected it could lead to major changes in the timeline)
Johnson: Sir, I've found a way to hide from detection.
Walker: Very good Lieutenant, execute your plan.
(The Victory moved at a very slow speed closer to Earth while also keeping out of the detection range)
Walker: Begin scans.
(Firestorm began tapping some buttons on his science console in an attempt to get off a scan. Walker curiously watched closeby. A few seconds passed)
Firestorm: Sir.. this is odd, I'm having trouble getting a scan off.
Walker: What's wrong?
Firestorm: The sensors seem to be partially down. Some our sensor systems were on the decks affected by the radiation but I'm not certain if that had any sort of impact.
(Walker paced back and forth on the bridge a couple of times brainstorming some ideas)
Johnson: Perhaps we could get a good scan off on the surface sir?
Walker: Hmm.. the question is how do we get to the surface undetected?
<TAG: Owen Johnson, Firestorm>
OFF: Sorry I haven't posted much lately. I've had a tough time thinking of something. Lets everyone chip in and we can make this story develop into a streaming plotline. This has the potential to be a very interesting story if we're all active enough. Also one more thing, anyone who posts an LOA must reply to the LOA thread upon return to state they're back. Thanks for your cooperation.

*Tiffani felt lighted as she finally woke from the distraughted ride to whereever her captures had taken her she looked around the room as she started to come to when she heard voices*
Boss *Shouted one of the men* She is coming to.
Good *replied a stern yet strong voice* We don't want her in a dead state when we take her to the market. make sure she fed and had a bath. noone will want a smellly slave. *he chuckled*
*Tiffani could not sense any emotion and it worried her. some how and some reason she had no telepathic thoughts, she wondered if it had to do with the different timeline. she crimmaged as one of the men poked her* wake up you. time for a shower. *Tiffani smiled and slowly opened her eyes more as she was pulled to her feat and taken to the bathroom, washup and don't try anything funny cause their only one way out and its through this door so you better behave. *shouted the man as he shoved her into the batthroom after the door shut tiffani sighed and procceed to take a shower a few minutes later she was brough out of her deep though as she heard the man hollor for her to hurry up, she sighed, and stepped out of the shower to spot some new clothing laying infront of the door, she wondered how they got there she had not heard the door open but non the less she put them on and yelled out* I'm done. *the men opened the door and pulled her out sitting her back on the bed and waited*
OOC: i know its not much but its all i could come up with at last minute. Not much a captured person can do especially when she in an alternate timeline.*L* so someone better rescue me soon:P *L*

Firestorm shrugged. "You could always beam down in an isolated area?" he suggested, "but I would suggest choosing our orbit as such that we will stay out of the way of these satelites. Earth armies at this time were prone to take any oddity as an act of aggression."
The Sivaoan scientist swiveled his chair around so he gazed directly upon Walker and Johnson. "The two of you could beam down easily and blend in if you would change your attire to something more appropriate to the era. Me on the other end...." He trailed off, having absolutely no clue as to how he'd fit in. "...I am open for suggestions."
He turned back to the science station. "I have spotted a place that would be suitable for beam down, as it appears to be abandoned now." He pointed at his screen and motioned for Walker to come over and see. On the screen was a picture of Fenway park in Boston, the home base of the local baseball team. "The stadium appears to be deserted at this moment," he suggested, his tail curling at the notion of finally having done something according to plan.

Kurzan and the others had drifted off into sleep for a few hours. It was difficult to fall asleep for most of the crew. They were uncomfortable with the idea of being more than 1,000 years in the past, plus the fact that Tiffani had been kidnapped. Kurzan did not have a problem falling asleep. He was not uncomfortable with the thought of time travel. He viewed it not just as a phenomenon, but also as a cog among the gears of the universe. Kurzan had learned over time that to live in harmony with time and space, you must learn not to fight the tides; but to rather go where the tide takes you.
It had become dawn and the Earth's sun had begun to peak over the sky, traveling slowly over the trees. Kurzan got up and tapped the other officers awake.
Kurzan: Come on, wake up! We got work to do!
The others awoke slowly. They had been used to waking up early, due to the academy and training...but their duty shifts realistically did not begin for a few hours.
Kurzan: If we're lucky, Tiffani and her captors have not gotten too far.
Gareth: Yes, it's strange how Tiffani has not tried to contact us using her telepathic abilities.
Kurzan: Perhaps she is unconscious or perhaps she is unable to use them...
Kurzan and the others left their makeshift campsite and began to walk down a dusty road. Suddenly, Kurzan and the others saw a bright light in the sky, followed by a boom.
Kurzan: Well...that was interesting...
Gareth: What happened??
Kurzan: It looked like the phenomenon we encountered back on the Victory.... Take a look at the sun....
Kurzan pointed to the sun. Something very odd was going on. The sun began to move across the sky very quickly. It reached noon-point, and then it began to creep down the sky until it was dusk.
Gareth: Well, time sure does go by when your having fun....
Kurzan: Sarcasm aside....it seems that the temporal phenomenon has followed us into this century... We have just witnessed time progression...
Kurzan began to feel a bit tired. Gareth's eyes began to become heavy.
Kurzan: It would seem that.....it's affecting us as well. A day literally passed in the....*yawn* excuse me, passed in a matter of seconds.
Sokath: Drowsiness or not, we must find Tiffani....
The Men continued down the dusty road, feeling extremely fatigued.

(On the bridge Firestorm suggested that Johnson and Walker transport down to Fenway Park. Walker was familiar with the area since he was born in Boston. Though how familiar it would be nearly 300 years ago was obviously a factor. The last thing Walker wanted to do was impact the timeline so he kept that at the top of his head) Walker: =^=Engineering, how long before sensors are back up?=^= Matheson: =^=Sir many computer systems are down at the moment including some life support issues on a couple of decks. Sensors will take atleast a couple more days=^= Walker: Too long, we have to get that scan. Lieutenant Johnson you're with me. Lieutenant Commander Jameson you too. =^= Ensign Pioli please report to the shuttlebay.=^= Pioli: =^=Right away.=^= Walker: Firestorm, hold down the fort. (Walker, Johnson, and Jameson exited the bridge and made a stop on the way down to get the appropriate attire for the year 1999. Once they got to the shuttlebay Walker accompanied by the Chief Ops, Assistant Ops, and Shuttle pilot entered one of the smaller shuttles and waited for the take off. After waiting a few minutes for the pilot finally the shuttle left the Victory shuttlebay and headed towards Earth. 10 minutes had passed and once the shuttle was in position Walker, Owen Johnson, and Jameson waited for Pioli to transport them down) Walker: Ensign Pioli, transport us back to the shuttle 4 hours from now. (Pioli nodded and waited for the word to transport them down) Pioli: According to the computer records Fenway is a big ballpark with over 36,000 seats. I will be transporting you to the front gate area. It should make for an easy exit that way. Walker: Acknowledged. (Pioli tapped the transporter console and the three officers dematerialized and next thing they knew they were standing in Fenway Park. All three officers began looking around for an appropriate place to set up an area to get the scans off) Walker: How about over there? (Walker pointed to an alley across the street) Walker: It ain't pretty but it's secluded. (The officers started towards the alley with the sensor equiptment) Walker: Alright lets get this over with as soon as possible and get out of here. OFF: I've advanced this plot a little more so we're up to speed with the other plot. A couple of names used in this story were from the NPC list which you can find here: www.geocities.com/s47_vicb/crew.html

Gareth looked down at his clothing and thought that it might not be the best idea to keep wandering around in their starfleet uniforms. Kurzan at least looked like he somewhat fit in. He looked human and the clothes he had on blended in with the others that he had seen. A twig snapped and Gareth immediately began scanning around with his hearing. He then realized he had stepped on the stick. Maybe I should revert t' my ancient self, he thought. It would be easier t' move around in silence. After a few hours, Gareth started to hear the sounds of a city ahead. Everyone stopped in their tracks and Kurzan looked at Sokath and Gareth. He saw Kurzan sigh and Gareth was confused. That was when Gareth remembered that Sokath was a Vulcan and had the typical trait of the pointed ears. He felt a trickle of sweat run down his nose and Gareth reached up to wipe it away and his hands hit his sunglasses. He swore.
"I think we should get some other clothing. Our uniforms aren't precisely dated correctly for this time. But I have a few questions," he said.
Kurzan replied calmly, "How do we handle Commander Sokath's Vulcan ears and your blindness?"
Gareth started but nodded.
"Perhaps you can go into the city and barter for some clothing for the two of us while Ensign Sagara and I wait here," stated Sokath.
Kurzan thought and then nodded.
"You'll need money though," said Gareth.
Kurzan smiled.
"I'll find some poor soul to lend me some," he said and then took off into the city.

Kurzan approached the village, cautiously. It was fairly small, there were merchant shops lined up against stone buildings. In the center of the village there was a woman tied to a tall pillar with rope. At her feet there was a sign. It read:
Stoning by order of land master
Beside the sign was a wicker basket, filled with stones of all different sizes. A man pushed Kurzan aside.
Man: 'Scuse me. This lass has an appointment with Granite!
Kurzan: With who?
The man grunted and then threw a stone at the woman. Kurzan looked away in disgust. He wanted to help the woman, but he decided it was not his place to intervene, no matter how barbaric the display was.
Kurzan quickly headed over to the merchants aisle. On his way over he was stopped by a man. He was dirty and smelly with torn clothes. He pushed Kurzan into a small alleyway.
Man: Hey, I'll be takin all ye money and anything else ya got.
Kurzan: I beg your pardon.
Man: Hey! I not be asking ya again. Hand it over!
Kurzan: I have nothing.
Kurzan took his foot and tripped the man to the ground. The man quickly got up and snarled at Kurzan. He grabbed Kurzan and tried to grab Kurzan's shirt to see if he had anything in his pocket. Kurzan punched the man in the chest, which knocked the wind out of him. The man pushed Kurzan against the wall. Kurzan tried to push him off.
Kurzan: Will you kindly desist!
The man quickly reached into his pocket and took out a crude pointed weapon, a knife. He dug it into Kurzan's chest. Kurzan felt a sudden sharp pain and feel to the ground.
The man, not wishing to attract attention, ran off into the shadows... Kurzan lay there, injured.

At first, Firestorm didn't realize what Commodore Walker was saying, but then when he was left all alone on the bridge, it dawned on him. The commodore was leaving him in command. "Wait!" he cried after the human, "you cannot do that! I don't even hold a starfleet rank."
"I could leave a crewman first class in command if I should choose so," Walker replied, before the turbolift doors closed after his entrance.
Dejected, Firestorm sank down in the command chair, and pulled his tail through the palms of his hands repetetively. "Great," he muttered, as he got up and walked forward, "all I know is science...what do I know of command?" He jumped sky-high when alarms started blaring and he raced back to his own console.
His fur stood on end as he panicked: a collision alarm. Sensors told him that they were approaching what someone had termed as a satelite, an artificial one at that. Curisous, he ordered the ensign at the helm to keep a short distance from it, so that they could examine them. "Ops, keep an eye on the commodore and his team," he squeeked, then coughed to clear his voice, "notify me the minute they even remotely appear to be in danger!"
Firestorm sat back down in the command chair and piped his own console to the console in the armrest of the chair, so that he could see at one glance what was happening. He didn't feel comfortable, in fact, he felt far from comfortable....and however afraid he was, he would not let the commodore down.

:1999:
Johnson: Sir the sensor system should be up in a a matter of minutes.
Walker: Very good Lieutenant, we should assure that we leave asap.
(Johnson and Jameson worked hard and fast to get the sensor system up quickly as Walker posted guard at the alley entrance. A couple of people walked down the street off the alley way but it was fairly quiet as the hour was late and it was raining lightly. A few minutes passed, Walker was tense and was desperately hoping that they didn't encounter anyone. He hated the possibility that the timeline could be effected by any move they make)
Walker: How is it coming Mr. Johnson.
Johnson: Well sir the system is scanning, however it will take longer than it normally would with the Victory's sensors.
(Walker returned to his post at the tip of the alleyway. Suddenly a man exited the building bordering the alley and approached the alleyway entrance. He went ahead to pass Walker but Walker cut him off)
Walker: Excuse me sir what are you doing?
Man: I'm taking my garbage to the dumpster. You gotta a problem man?
Walker: I'm afraid that would be impossible.
Man: Outta my way buddy!
Walker: I will take your garbage out.
Man: Yeah right.
(The man went to shove Walker aside)
Walker: Sir I warn you. I'm with the Boston Police Department.
Man: Lets see some badge man.
Walker: I don't want to have to bring you down to the station but you're leaving me with no choice. Listen it's for your own safety that you don't go into that alleyway. To tell you the truth you're not even safe with me around. There have been a string of muggings in the area and the men are suspected armed. This alleyway is the last place they were seen. You can either take my word for it or you can risk your life going down that alley or you risk me calling for a squad car to come pick you up. I'd suggest you give me your garbage and I will assure you that it will get to the dumpster. I just suggest you get back inside before you regret it.
(Walker hoped the man would buy his story but the man seemed determined to get down the alley)
Man: Alright, sheesh. Take my garbage man!
(The man threw his garbage bag at Walker and Walker just threw it aside once he left. Walker went back over to the sensor system where Owen and Jameson stood taking the scans.)
Walker: Close call over there, how much more time Lieutenant?

"Sir, it should be any minute now ..." the sensors started beeping "... we have our scans, however it appears as if there are few non-human lifesigns and none of them are the ones we're looking for. If we could have just 10 minutes more I could recalibrate the sensors to look for residual traces of our missing crew which would help us determine about when they were on earth."
Owen and cmdr Jameson started recalibrating the sensors, it was a long shot but if they knew how long it had been since the missing crewmembers had been on earth then maybe they would be able to find a way to retrieve them.
"We're ready now sir. The scans shouldn't take more then ten minutes ... what time is it? I feel as if I've been awake all night."
The sun started rising as Owen made that last comment, it shouldn't have been sunrise yet as they arrived on earth at about 11pm and it should have been dark for at least another 5 hours.

Kurzan must have lay there for at least an hour. He was in pain but fortunately it was not too severe, but he would still require medical attention. Next to him was a wooden barrel. He got to his knees and grabbed onto the barrel for support, and stood up. He lifted up his shirt and noticed that his wound was somewhat infected. The knife that the man used was obviously not a very sterile weapon. Kurzan knew something or two about medicine and thought for a minute or two about what he could do to stop the infection. The barrel that Kurzan was using a moment ago tipped over. Some kind of light liquid poured out. Kurzan smelled something and he realized that it was alcohol. He had remembered that long ago alcohol was used to clean out wounds.
It was not hospital issue, but it would have to do. Kurzan let some of the alcohol spill into his hand. He splashed it onto his chest. It stinged like hell but he knew he had to do something. He heard some footsteps from behind him. It was a young lady, about 20 years old. Very pretty with long blond hair and blue eyes, obviously of Nordic or Anglo-Saxon descent.
Woman: Ye...ye shouldn't be here.
Kurzan: Beg your pardon?
Woman: That is me fathers stash of liquor. He will be angered when he found out you spilled it. If you want alcohol there is plenty left over from the fair the other day.
Kurzan: I was not consuming the alcohol, Miss. I used it simply for medicinal purposes.
Kurzan heard a door open and out stepped a burly man, blond beard and blue eyes, obviously the girls father.
Man: ELIZABETH! WHAT HAVE YE DONE??!!
Elizabeth: I haven't done a thing, father.. I-
Kurzan interjected
Kurzan: It was me sir. I apologize for your downed liquor.
Man: I told you to guard the liquor. And what have ye done??
Elizabeth: I was taking care of mother!
Man: Ye mother can take care of yourself.
Kurzan noticed that the man was a bit woozy...
The man grabbed his daughter and threw her against the wall of the house. Kurzan instinctively stood up, wanting to defend her, but did not know what consequences it would have.
Kurzan: Pardon me sir...
Man: Ye shut your mouth! I will deal with ye in a second you lousy thief!
The man grabbed the daughter by the arm and threw her against the wall again. The father was obviously drunk, his breath wreaked of alcohol. The young woman fell to the ground, her nose was bloodied.
Kurzan: Oh what the hell. He is drunk, he won't remember a thing.
Kurzan stood up and picked up a nearby shovel. He went behind the man and smacked him upside the head with the shovel. He feel to the ground, unconscious.
Elizabeth: What did ye do to him...?
Kurzan: He is alive, but he will have a headache. He will probably just assume it's a hangover.
Elizabeth: A...a what?
Kurzan: Oh...nothing. The question miss, is are you alright?
Elizabeth: It's not as bad as before.
Kurzan: You mean he has done this before?
Elizabeth: Yes...
Kurzan was obviously meddling in things that didn't concern him but still, abuse was appalling to him, no matter how primitive a culture.
Kurzan: Come on, I'll tend to your nose miss.
Elizabeth: But he-
Kurzan: He won't be awake for another 30 minutes or so.
Kurzan took the young woman into her home and began to dab her nose with a wet towel.

:1999:
Johnson: The scans should take more than ten minutes.
Walker: Alright, keep up the good work Lieutenant.
(Walker sat stood against the alley wall. It had been days since he last slept and he was hoping to get the Victory back together soon. About ten minutes later Johnson came up to Walker)
Johnson: Sir assuming the sensors aren't faulty the scans indicate that they aren't in the year 1999. As I said residual scans may give us an indication of when they are on Earth. The scans didn't give us an exact time but it indicates they could be anywhere from 1190-1200
Walker: Well it's a broad range but it's progress and it's definetly an improvement over what we knew before. Is there anyway to narrow the number down Mr. Johnson?

Kurzan had just finished dabbing the womanβs nose when suddenly he heard a loud crackling boom outside. It sounded like a low deep thunder storm.
Kurzan: Excuse me for a moment miss.
Kurzan walked outside of the small thatched house and looked up into the sky. He saw something strange in the sky. It reminded him of the nexus, only this anomaly was spherical in shape, and expanding like a bubble of soap until it exploded. It was extremely loud when the "bubble" popped. The villagers were going crazy and running over fallen carts and tripping over each other. The animals were also reacting very strongly to it. A man was riding a horse when suddenly the horse neighed and jumped up on its hind legs, knocking the man off the horse. The horse ran off with the man being dragged behind the horse.
Kurzan: This is not good.
Kurzan walked back inside and crouched next to the frightened woman, Elizabeth.
Kurzan: Listen closely; I want you to stay here for now.
Elizabeth: Why? Where are you going?
Kurzan: To find my friends.
Kurzan walked out the door and into pandemonium.

"Sir if I remember correctly there are a couple of years were there have been unexplained phenomena in this area during that decade, if we were sent back in time by an anomaly it would be logical to assume that the anomaly may have appeared, along with our crew, during one of the disturbances. I should also be able to narrow the data down using the ship's computer directly and if we cross reference that with the years of disturbances we should find our missing crew."
Owen and Jameson started packing up, with the sun rising and the increased activity on the streets, it would be easier for people to see what they were doing. Now that he was able to see clearly Owen was disgusted by the state of the alley, even though he was expecting worse conditions then what he was used to it was still a shock to see just how grimy the streets of earth used to be.
"Commodore, we are ready to go." Owen stated as they put the last piece of equipment away. Commodore Walker had seemed to be dozing and he jumped when Owen spoke to him. He regained his composure quickly and lead the away team back to Fenway Park.

"Where is he? thought Gareth, watching the sky change quickly to a dark, stormy gray. He and Sokath had been waiting for quite a long time. He would approximate but the constantly changing conditions of the weather and light kept throwing off his sense of time. He slowly raised himself up onto his elbows again to see if he saw any sign of Kurzan. Nothing but people in the village were starting to panic about something. He then saw what looked like a large colorful bubble rise and then explode. Sokath put his hand on Gareth's arm.
"Perhaps we should find Kurzan and shelter," he said.
Gareth got to his feet and was about to start into the village when he was hit on the back of the head. Gareth's vision went black and he fell into unconsciousness. The bounty hunter, by the name of Zedar, stepped out of the shadows and surveyed his catch of the day. He wasn't sure what to make of the one with the pointy ears. Perhaps some sort of elf, he thought. He turned to his lackies and ordered one of them to take care of the poiny-eared one. A large man walked over, picked up Sokath, and placed him on a horse. Zedar turned Gareth over and picked him up. Gareth's sunglasses fell off his face and fell on the ground. He was slung over a horse's back and they all rode off.
