She didn't like being left behind just like that when the president followed Mercy into his office. T"Val could guess what she wanted to talk to her mate about, but she knew Mercy wouldn't and possibly couldn't answer all questions. Then she saw Mercy beckon her to follow as well and her spirits lifted a little. She wasn't being excluded because she wasn't starfleet after all.
Before following, however she paged the computer entity. "Lily, please page Rayna and have her report to sickbay?"
Lily acknowledged the page and relayed the message to the new nurse, who had recently graduated from her studies. T'Val was very proud of her Romulan friend's achievement and determination. She'd had a tough time, especially since she was still partially disabled and wheelchair bound. Rayna was determined to walk again and she was making progress but there were days she just couldn't cope, and recently, since Nguyen's sudden death she'd been so down she couldn't be bothered by anything.
Minutes after the page, the Romulan wheeled in, looking none too pleased. T'Val was nowhere to be found and she now felt she had been paged for no good reason. Then she spotted the two doctors in the CMO's office, together with Lin, a to her unknown woman and a few other people looking to be security.
Meanwhile at the meeting, T'Val listened to what Vrened had to say and she cast Mercy an angry thought when he talked so freely about her son. While he was her mate, it wasn't her place to disclose that information to a stranger, even when this stranger was the president of the Federation. When the president left Mercy's office, T'Val walked up to him. "What was that all about? Why did you tell her about D'Beren being the Divine Child? She has no business knowing something so private. If anything that information is for Ji'Zhan to disclose, and not for you."
(mercy)
She walked away to check on her records for civillian personnel and spotted a flag at the senior Romulan diplomat's file. Opening it, she noticed that he'd managed to dodge his physical since he'd come aboard. "Ambassador s'Khellian, please report to sickbay. Also please note that if you do not turn up this time, I will have you escorted here."

OOC: JP between T Val and Vebn
Vebn swept into sickbay with a dominant and assured stride. He cast his gaze about the busy room and approached the first nurse he saw. "I was asked to attend. I am Ambassador Vebn s'Khellian"
The nurse, who happened to be Rayna, looked up from her seated position and waved towards the Vulcan healer who was already prepping a biobed in anticipation of the diplomat's arrival. "Healer T'Val is ready for you sir," Rayna answered politely.
"Thankyou" he said with half bow, eyeing Rayna carefully, He crossed over to the Vulcan "you asked to see me?"
T'Val glanced the Romulan over and already didn't like him. "Please take a seat on the biobed," she told the ambassador, "you have managed to dodge your physical since your arrival. I have had patience with you, up until now."
"Well actually I have my own medical staff for that, and there is no requirement for you to do it but as I am here one can never be too careful. Scan away" he said as he took a seat
"I am responsible for the health of all the diplomatic staff," she replied coldly, "and last I checked, that included you." She motioned for him to lie down and closed the scanning unit over his torso. "Please lie still," she admonished him. After several seconds the unit was done and opened up. "Have you had any recent illness? Any allergies or recent visits to systems that have particles that can be hazardous to the occupants of this station?"
"See thats my point. My visits to other systems are confidential so I ll answer no to that one, and you can assure before you read me the riot act, I have been here nearly a month and had I had any nasty bug it would have been picked up by my own physician. This is just a courtesy you understand" He hoped down from the bed, "I would however like to talk to you about your former Bondmate"
"I do not need to know where you have been," T'Val answered flatly, "and your own physician could be a fool for all I know. However, my scans show you clear of any hazardous item and you seem to be in good health." She fell silent as he mentioned Tedak. "In what aspect?" she querried, suddenly suspicious.
"Its actually for some insight. Tedak is somewhat hard headed. I do not believe him to be slow nor stupid but he certainly behaves as such. I was perhaps you could persuade him to remember his responibilities"
This time, T'Val laughed. "You expect me to tell him how to perform his duties? He is a stubborn man mister ambassador, but he is a good man. He always has the best interest for his people at heart, even if at first it does not seem to be so. He is, in fact, very intelligent and I know...I know how he thinks, I know how his mind works, better than anyone else here on this station. I will not, however stand by and see him discredited or dismissed as he has been. He did not deserve that kind of treatment."
Vebn shook his head, "Tedak betrays his own government at every turn. Whatever I or we say he runs to the Federation or the Debrune and reveals our secrets or intentions. He doesnt know our aims MY aims, how can he possibly know they will harm the Empire. Tedak doesnt realise but I pulled a lot of strings to get him reappointed after I had him sacked. But he hasnt improved. It is tough but he needs to realise that I will not take the bullet for him and that if members in the senate ask for his removal...or worse in the future that I cannot intercede."
"He does not expect you to take a fall for him and he knows what his responsebilities are. What he tries to do is win people's trust by talking to them and asking them for their opinion." T'Val deactivated the biobed and motioned for Vebn to follow her to her office so they could speak more privately. "Perhaps you should inform him of your aims? He is not a telepath, he is not one of those very few gifted Romulans. However, I informed him of the Tholian settlement the Galaxy encountered, and I was the one who told him about the Romulan technology we discovered. Do not presume to think that you know him. He would not spy on people, and he would never consciously harm the Empire." She paused, an uneasy feeling settling over her. "He quite likely appreciates your efforts in getting him reinstated, but he may raise a few questionmarks at it too. He knows you dislike and distrust him, and for that, I cannot blame him."
Vebn laughed wryly, "I m sorry I am mistaken I see now why you seperated, You dont know him at all. Not a spy!! He was in the Tal Shiar. And as for our involvement with the Tholians - you can be assured it is of great benefit to Romulus. I also agree that he wins the trust of the Federation and Debrune, He does that very well but to the detriment of the Empire, he paints us in a bad light without the full facts. He has won their trust at the expense of the empires. Thankyou for your time Healer I can see that Tedak will just have to fend for himself."
T'Val took a deep breath before yanking the diplomat back by his arm. "Do not presume to know me either," she hissed, "Tedak remains a valued friend and the reason why we separated is not of your concern. You do yourself no favours by discrediting my former bondmate, and you should be relieved that at least someone of your people makes the effort of winning the trust of the Federation and the Debrune. I for one would be relieved if my people were to choose against the empire." She released his arm. "Good day ambasador."
Vebn looked at her in annoyance. "That my dear is exactly my point - his escapades have won trust only in him not the empire. Good Day indeed" With that he exited the sickbay and returned to his duties aware now that he had done his best. Tedak would just have to get by on his own, he had more important schemes to focus on.

Tedak smiled politely. "I am not asking you to Ji'Zhan. All I ask is that you play along when necessary, especially when Vebn is around. There's more to him than meets the eye...and I don't trust him."
He watched as Ji'Zhan turned and started to walk away. "Thank you for your time," he called after the Debrune, then sat back in his office. He was very surprised when seconds later, a very angry looking T'Val marched in.
"The nerve," she scowled as she took a seat opposite of him.
"Something wrong?" Tedak asked, walking around his desk to sit on the edge of it.
"Vebn had the nerve to try to get me to do his bidding. He wanted me to persuade you to attend to your duties. What duties other than those you attend to now?" She looked up to him. "He presumes to know you," she continued, "and he presumes to manipulate me. He presumes wrong. Did you know he is responsible for you to get your diplomatic rank back? I am certain he did so for a reason. Be careful around him Tedak, he is a powerful and devious man."
The Romulan smiled gently. "I know," he answered, "and while I am grateful of having my position back...of sorts anyway...I must do what is right. The Debrune will not choose for the Empire, not now, not when there is so much strife within the Empire. And Vebn...he has his own agenda."
"He is insultive," T'Val sighed, remembering a certain scene when the Romulan had first arrived. Mercy had stood him down and thrown his wine into the diplomat's face. "And dangerous. Please be careful."
"My dear T'Val, you have nothing to worry about," Tedak smiled, lifting her face up to him. "Except your wedding. I am relieved to see you vibrant and alive again, I have been very worried for you. How are you feeling now?"
T'Val took his change of subject as a cue to get up again. "I am doing well, thank you. And our wedding plans are progressing. As a matter of fact, I have an appointment with my father in a few minutes. I was going to show him around on Qualinost, and I would like to take D'Beren." She glanced towards the small anteroom of the Romulan's office.
"Certainly," the Romulan answered, "I'll just wake him up for you." At that point, Yade winged in, echoing her bondmate's agitation. "Calm down," he admonished the green, looking to Nut to calm her down. The brown chirped once and Yade settled down on T'Val's shoulder.
A minute later, Tedak returned with the three-year old Debrune boy. "Mommy!" the boy cried, racing up to her. "Are we going to see dad now?"
T'Val looked up at Tedak. "He has taken to calling you father and Stuart daddy, it seems," she said apologetically. "I hope you do not mind?" The Romulan shook his head bemusedly. "I will bring him back in a few days," she promised.
"That will not be necessary. We have shared custody, and he may be safer with you for now." He nodded towards the door. "Especially now. Have fun on Qualinost."
T'Val smiled gratefully and walked out of the office in search of her father.

Stuart had just finished mentioning the dangers and concerns he had over D’Beren.
Vrened stared at Mercy a moment, "I was not aware of that" she said after awhile. She seemed about to add more but instead changed topics. "Actually what I was originally refering to is the latent psionic abilities of the Debrune. It would be nice to know whilst I am negoiating if Ji'Zhan and the other Elders can read my surface thoughts?"
“I have to be honest when I say that I am not sure. I have heard that the elders may have telepathic abilities, but we have not tested them to verify this and we don’t have the authority to do so. If they can read minds, then they have done a go job of not revealing this fact. Of course, I would think that we have nothing to hide…” Stuart let the mild accusation sit for a moment, but President Vrened did not bite. Instead, she thanked him and made her exit.
Stuart had noted T’Val’s demeanor change from good to bad when he had started talking about D’Beren, but he couldn’t figure out why. Once everyone else had left the office, he quickly found out.
"What was that all about? Why did you tell her about D'Beren being the Divine Child? She has no business knowing something so private. If anything that information is for Ji'Zhan to disclose, and not for you."
Stuart was taken aback by her anger. She had always been very protective over D’Beren, but to attack him as if he had no concerns over D’Beren himself just didn’t sit right with Stuart. “Now hold on T’Val. I mentioned this to her because I too am very concerned over his safety. I understand how you feel about him, but you have to realize that he is and always will be a political pawn for the Debrunes.” T’Val had been too mad for words and stormed out of the office. Stuart wondered if there were still latent affects of the pon farr affecting her.
Stuart decided to leave things alone for now and resumed his duties, checking on patients and upcoming appointments. As he was retrieving a new hypospray, he didn’t miss the fact that the new Romulan ambassador had checked in and was being attended to by T’Val. Stuart recalled the wine incident and smiled to himself.
A few minutes later, Stuart had finished with his patient and he had wondered where T’Val was off to. Ambassador s’Khellian was nowhere around either, she must have finished with him. Stuart decided to look for her in her office. Her door had been open and when Stuart turned the corner and entered he became witness to more of her fury.
Stuart simply stepped aside, not wanting to further a confrontation with this Romulan. T’Val’s eyes locked with Stuart and Stuart recalled an age old saying, ‘if looks could kill’. She came straight at him and once again he simply stepped aside to let her get by. T’Val stormed out of the infirmary and Stuart was wise not to follow.

Vrened flashed a well practiced smile at Ji'zhan and his fellow Elders. "The Federation opens it arms to all who do so to us. Your demonstration of your fleet brings me to perhaps some of the wider issues. You realise that by joining the Federation your armed forces will be amalgumated with that of Starfleet. YOur existing fleet would be retained as a planetary defence force but would be much reduced. You should also be aware that whilst the Federation will share with you here vast resources that you will be expected to do like wise. I wont lie to you and say we arer not interested in your technology, in many areas it far outsrips our own. But you are a small population and we can offer you much help, support and shelter. It is never our aim to dominate and it is my administrations aim to improve the equality within the Federation." she paused and imperceptible nodded to Sirok, "Many of the finer details such as your Holy City is unlikely to be a problem, we respect all religions as you know but these matters can be hammered out between yourself and the delegation we appoint to make the arrangements. For now let us leave it at the invitation - Do you wish to join the Federation Ji'Zhan, if so the wheels can turn and we can begin the process."

Ji'Zhan, and the other Elders, grew despondent at her words - to the point of holding their answer. Then they heard her words, "Many of the finer details such as your Holy City is unlikely to be a problem, we respect all religions as you know but these matters can be hammered out between yourself and the delegation we appoint to make the arrangements. For now let us leave it at the invitation - Do you wish to join the Federation Ji'Zhan, if so the wheels can turn and we can begin the process."
Ji'Zhan didn't stand this time but kept his seat, "Madam President, we hear your words about our ship fleet. We are not prepared to amalgamated our fleet to yours. We are defiantly not willing to do so at a reduced planetary defense status. In fact we would question your suggestion as other Federation members, such as the Klingons, do no 'blend' their fleet with yours unless at war. Of course, we would be willing if the Federation was a war ... but you are not." Ji'Zhan now stood and ran a presentation file for people in attendance. "As you can see by this list, we did anticipate that our people would participate in an exchange program with Starfleet and we have," pointing to several lists, "several science vessels and personnel, a good number of patrol vessels and trained personnel, some larger medical ships indeed ready to respond to the colonies who are in need of them currently ..." Ji'Zahn took several more moments explaining how the Debrune was ready share technology and resources such as ships and other things, but then returned his gaze back to the President. "Madam President," he paused gathering a view thoughts from the other Elders, "The other Elders and I need day to deliberate seeing how you have not gave us your full expectations ... you simply want an answer before all is known. We are not ready to do so at this time. In accordance to Federation joining policy, we call for a day recess to consider your expectation, assuming your willing to produce those, and we will meet you all back here tomorrow."
With that Ji'Zhan and the other Elders, along with the other Debrune attendance, left the room and headed to the Debrune transports waiting in the hanger bay. As they were walking to the bay, Ji'Zhan thought how we was not impressed with the Federation President and her hasty intents and instantly the other Elder's agreed, in their minds, with him.

Vrened leaned back in her chair and looked at her aides,
"I foresee a problem. I do not think Ji'Zhan understands what joining the Federation really means. He seems to be suggesting an alliance, like the one we have with the Klingons. The two are very different"
"An alliance would be less beneficial than full membership" Sirok noted coolly "either way it is unlikely that such matters will be resovled in the time we have left aboard here. We cannot delay our tour and still have the Klingon and Tholian diplomats to meet"
Vrened nodded, her schedule was incredibly tight and she was due on Bolarus in 3 days time, "I agree, Saarok and Ezdreiana will have to negotiate with Ji'Zhan. Ezedreiana" she said "You will be lead diplomat in the negotiations."
Gathering about her her skirt she rose and nodded to her security personnel that they were to move on. "I ll retire now I think" she said "And will meet the other diplomats tomorrow morning before we depart. Thank you ladies and gentleman"

While T'Val walked back to sickbay with her son to talk to Stuart and make amends over their earlier arguments, Tedak headed out of his office too. He needed to talk to Ji'Zhan, privately but he knew Vebn was quite likely watching his office. Additionally, he needed it to appear as though he was very desperate to convine Ji'zhan to join the Romulan Empire, as were his clear orders to do.
The Romulan hoped dearly that the Debrune diplomat would remember that Tedak never consciously would hurt him. With a look of sheer distaste on his face, Tedak grabbed the small Romulan energy weapon Vebn had forced him to keep in his desk. While he still abhorred any energy or particle weapon he felt that now it could become useful. Station sensors would show him exactly as he now needed to be shown, and it would possibly please Vebn to see it at that.
Having heard of the outcome of the talks of today, Tedak headed to where he was most likely to find Ji'Zhan. Sadly he was surrounded by a few fellow Debrune which made things just a little more complicated. "Ambassador Ji'zhan, I need to speak with you," he called, drawing the Debrune's attention. He knew Ji'Zhan wouldn't just leave, so he walked up to the other man, then pressed his weapon in Ji'Zhan's side. "Make no trouble ambassador," he said clearly, "and I promise you won't get hurt. Now, walk with me please. Everyone else stay where they are."
He wrapped his arm around the man's throat, pressing the weapon in his side, clearly showing he was wearing a weapon and started slowly dragging him away.
As soon as they were alone, Tedak removed his weapon. "I hope that was convincing, however they will not convinced if they find you completely unhurt. That would not be the Romulan way. I have news, regarding the Romulan view towards the Debrune." Quietly, he told Ji'Zhan of his conversation with T'Val. "She worries for you," he added, "and she's very angry about the president asking so many questions. Private questions. Doctor Mercy told the president about the Divine Child, which upset her even more."

Ji'Zhan, having known that Tedak was going to do this, allowed Tedak to take him. However, the Debrune security was about take drastic measures towards Tedak but did not after seeing Ji'Zhan's nod. The other Elder's were still linked to Ji'Zhan's mind and would know his thoughts but Ji'Zhan took measures to keep his eyes down. This would not allow him to read star base location signs and thus would not give his location away to the other Elders.
Ji'Zhan didn't say very much as Tedak was telling him of the information about T'Val and the divine child, but was worried about the child and thought he could be in danger.
Tedak took Ji'Zhan to some lone part of the base then promised he would be back later. However, before he could leave the room, Ji'Zhan placed his hand on Tedak's shoulders. The move was similar to the Vulcan neck pinch, however there was a subtle difference that only parallelized his body and Tedak remained in a mindful state.
"You did say do what I must to recover the truth, and you have just afforded me that opportunity." Ji'Zhan said the Romulan Ambassador. "I'm afraid you are about to experience the evolution of the Debrune mind and discover that we have very un-Vulcan-like mind methods. Don't worry Tedak, this will not hurt but this will only be a one way ... meld if you want to call it that." Ji'Zhan's eyes narrowed as a journey of sorts started through Tedak's mind. Fortunately for Tedak, ethics kept Ji'Zhan from doing anything that would hurt him, so the 'meld' was only going to give Ji'Zhan general thoughts.
*** A crowd of sorts had gathered at the site where Tedak abducted Ji'Zhan as the other Elder's stood in the middle of the guards. The panic of the moment had subsided as Starfleet officers rushed to the site. One of the Elders walked up to a Starfleet security uniform and stated, "Young man, inform your superior's that Elder Ji'Zhan has just been abducted by Tedak and his location is unknown. I expect to hear from Admiral Lin and base security very soon about this matter."
<TAG Lin, anyone on base security>
***
Tedak was now sitting beside Ji'Zhan as if the energy has been zapped from his body, he wasn't really saying much as Ji'Zhan started to speak. "Tedak, in your mind the truth that resounds is for your families safety. I'm honored to be in that family mind picture - I never knew your thoughts on that matter. I also saw the distrust you have for Vebn and how you feel his actions are dishonorable. I, and the other Elder's, believe the same. You and I both know that he's doing covert dealings with the Tholians. I, for one, think he is to blame for the Romulan technology the Tholians have. You see, my friend, we have had surveillance ships in the nebula for months tracking the trade between the Tholians and unmarked merchant ships; that has stopped for the time being I must report. I didn't know that Vebn wanted, however, for the three Vulcan brothers to rejoin; maybe Spock's efforts toward that front has gained much ground. However, I do not think that the time is now for the Debrune to rejoin our Romulan brothers. I do feel different about our Vulcan brothers however they have not shown any interest in the Debrune." Ji'Zhan gave Tedak some herbs from his robe, "Here, this will make you feel much better. I think the Debrune will join the Federation ... at least in some form before the President leaves. However, if she doesn't show more interest in our people, the Elder's and I may elect to stay secluded and simply remain under the protectorate. Only time will tell."
Ji'Zhan stood and extended his hand to Tedak, "My friend, take my hand, you need to walk this off." Ji'Zhan didn't know how long Tedak would want them to say hidden, but he was willing to stay as long as Tedak needed, he did convey his safety to the other Elders and the information about Vebn.

Ezdreiana looked at Ji'Zhan with a greater understanding and respect. It wasn't everyday that someone said no to the President of the Federation. Ezdreiana was further impressed by his knowledge of Federation law, something that her dear president hadn't anticipated. The fact that Ji'Zhan refused to join the Federation immediately raised many questions. The Debrune were hiding something, something very important and they were not about to share that information with anyone.
"I agree, Saarok and Ezdreiana will have to negotiate with Ji'Zhan. Ezdreiana" she said "You will be lead diplomat in the negotiations."
Gathering about her her skirt she rose and nodded to her security personnel that they were to move on.
"Madam President, Ambassador Saarok is the lead diplomat, I'm his deputy. Shouldn't he be leading these negotiations?" Ezdreiana said perplexed that Saarok would be shunned. Her question landed on deaf ears as Vrened continued to speak as she hadn't heard her.
"I'll retire now I think" she said "And will meet the other diplomats tomorrow morning before we depart. Thank you ladies and gentleman"
The entire delegation rose with her and small talk ensued. Ezdreiana turned to face her friend and leader.
"Do not fret Ambassador, I am positive the President has her reasons," Saarok said.
"The Vulcan answer," Ezdreiana said in disbelief. These talks could be some of the most important since the Khitomer conference. The leading diplomat would be known through out the entire sector. "Saarok you are more prepared than I. Since Admiral Long's death I have been preoccupied."
"I will leave all my data in your office," Saarok said," we also have the benefit of knowing Ji'Zhan. He is an honorable person who will be straight forward with us."
"I guess your right," Ezdreiana said as she gave him a weak smile. As she looked around she noticed that almost everyone had left the conference room. She decided that it would be the appropriate time to get caught up with all she needed to know.
"Lily, can you please contact Elder Ji'Zhan's office on board the base and ask them when is the best time for us to talk again?" Ezdreiana asked as she picked up her padds and headed out.
"Alright," Lily responded.
"Thank you, could you also inform Tedak that I would like it if he was present as well?" Ezdreiana asked wanting his Romulan point of view. She knew that this would cause Vebn to cry outrage but she didn't care. She didn't trust him and she didn't care if he knew.

Magellan walked discretely at the rear of the presidential entourage as she returned to her State Rooms. Teams of security marched either side and officers in plain clothing kept an eye all along the route. The passed through the Arcade up the main precinct and into the VIP quarters as they exited the last turbolift Zoilip emerged from a corridor and fell into step with him. "We have an issue" he said quietly, "What? cant it wait?" "Not really no Sir" "Okay" Magellan looked ahead and saw the President moving off, He pulled Zoilip to one side. "Its Tedak, he abducted Ji'Zahn" "WHAT!" Magellan could barely believe it, "Are you sure?" "There were several witnesses including Elders Lork and Cra-mel" "Savel" Magellan cursed "Okay Have Sharon find them quickly and quietly"
"Is there a problem Admiral?" Magellan turned to see that the President and her team had halted and were watching the pair of them
"A minor base problem" He smiled weakly, "We are dealing with it" Vrened looked at Magellan, "We decide what is minor or not" Commodore Rita Falcone stated sharply. Falcone was the Presidents Starfleet Liasion and had authority over security matters concerning the President.
Magellan was torn between duty and the urge to deal with his own problems on his own base. However many strings had been pulled to get him back in to command after the Loran Incident and so now was hardly the time for making waves. "I m afraid to say Elder Ji'Zhan has been abducted." The presdients security people flinched and closed about her protectively, "Is this a plot likely to spread to teh President?" Rita asked "I dont think so. We know who the kidnapper is and are tracking them down now." "Who is it?" "This is terrible news, this could very well ruin all our talks with the Debrune. Elder Ji'Zahn must be recovered whole and healthy quickly" Vrened said her face masked in horror, "Months of careful negotiation ruined. I know he declined initailly but that is just a ploy, both of us want the Debrune in the Federation"
"I understand Madam President and my Security Teams are on it even as we speak."
Rita stepped forward, "You didnt answer me. Who is it?" Magellan looked at Zoilip and then back to Rita, "Ambassador Tedak... though I am convinced its all a mi..." "The Romulan Ambassador!" Vrened exclaimed, "Oh no this will not to do, They have been against these talks all along." "You are to find Tedak and arrest him" Rita stated, "My own teams will supplement yours" "Arrest him? What abpout diplomatic immunity? besides i doubt.." "I hereby renounce his immunity" Vrened declared, "It wil speed matters"
"There you are" Rita nodded and then turned to her Comm. =^=Gamma, Delta and Omicron teams redeploy to search and detain. Locate Ambassador Tedak. Arrest and detain him. Be advised he has a hostage - Elder Ji'Zahn use your discretion but all force is authorised if the Elders life is threatened"
"Now hang on a moment" Magellan began but the President interceded "I m sorry Admiral but Commodore is repsonisble for my saftey on this trip and this could be but the first move in a wider plot I find it hard to believe that the Romulan Government would plan something this sloppy, we know exactly taht it was them. No this is a diversion."
"I agree" Rear Admiral Benett Sokal the Presidents director of Intelligence stated, "I ll call in our reserve fleet and have you safe on Bolarus in 24 hours."
"Very good Admiral make it so. I ll contact the Debrune and try and reassure them" Vrened said "Recall Saarok and Ezedriana have them assist."
"This way Madam President" Rita showed "We are moving you to the emergency secondary quarters" as she left she tunred to Magellan and hissed, "Find Tedak"
Magellan nodded to Zoilip and the two of them ran for the turbolift. "Ops" He ordered " And Lily we need to locate Tedak and Ji'Zahn ASAP. Before and of Falcones people" "Understood" Lily the computer replied, "I ll begin intensive scanning" Magellan struggled with his doubts, Tedak like all Romulans had wooried him and he found hard to trust. Tedak had however worked on changing that. HAd he been wrong. Had Tedak been a sleepr agent all this time, waiting for his moment to strike. Either way he was going to be the one to arrest him, not some upstart Commodore in Presidential Security.

>>> Communique to Ezdreiana <<<
Debrune office to the office of Ambassador Ezdreiana, "Ambassador, we have received your request for a meeting with the Elder's however, I fear, there is a situation. Elder Ji'Zhan has been abducted. You should contact Admiral Lin for more information."
>>> End Communique <<<
The other Elders and their attendants hurried to the Diplomatic level and the Debrune offices. There they assembled in a secure room. Elder Lork turned to the group and said, "Elder Cra'mel and I have been in contact with Elder Ji'Zhan the entire time. We know that he is safe but he has not been able to know of his surroundings. He has done something most strange ..." Elder Lork told the group of the merging of Tedak's mind and the resulting knowledge. The group was a bit shocked but only for a moment as the Elders calmed the group; a benefit that the Debrune had when in company with the Elders.
Elder Cra'mel contacted Admiral Lin, "Elder Cra'mel to Admiral Lin, Elder Lork and I are still joined with Elder Ji'Zhan's mind. However, he has not be able to see his surroundings. He is safe however and not in danger - in fact he has merged with Tedak's mind, you would best know this a a Vulcan mind meld. The Debrune, however, have very different ways - but I digress at the moment and say that Tedak is subdued at the moment. When you do find them, Tedak will not put up a fight." The Elder paused for just a moment then added, "Admiral, we have learned from Ji'Zhan that this act from Tedak was a stratagem; the Debrune will not be pressing charges."

Magellan listened to the Elders and felt somewhat reassured but still wanted to get the Elder back quickly,
"Thank you Elders but matters are already out of my hands. I ll contact you again when I know more." Magellan out.
He crossed into Ops and straight to the Master Operations Table. "Report" F'rass smoothed the fur around the edges of his mouth and reported that all hatches and transporters had been sealed. Customs had shut down the docks and all Shuttlebays were heavily guarded. Tedak and Ji Zahn were not leaving the station.
"Lily how are we progressing"
The computer paused barely a nano-second before replying, "I am correlating Tedaks physiological parameters with those aboard and in close proximity to Ji'Zahns physiological parameters. So far the lower levels have been searched to no avail. I am proceeding to the upper levels." "Very good Lily" Magellan noted and turned to Felix, "Commodore Savali, I want you out on the streets so to speak - assist Vanetti and Dodger in the search. Time is still of the essence even if Tedak is incapacitated."

"Of course", Felix replied as he left ops
=/\=Savali to Cmdr. Vanetti and Ensign Dodger=/\=
=/\=Go ahead, sir=/\=, both of them replied
=/\=Meet me down at the scene of Tedak's disappearance so that we can coordinate the search for him=/\=
=/\=Understood=/\=, the two women replied as Felix was heading to the location where the crime took place
While going there he realized he was not likely to make it to the lunch he arranged with Joann.
=/\=Savali to Miss. Lawrence=/\=
=/\=Go ahead Mr.=/\=, she responded
=/\=I'm afraid something came up and i won't be able to make it to lunch today=/\=
=/\=I see=/\=, she responded sounding a bit disappointed
=/\=But I’ll reschedule for dinner=/\=, he said
Sound more cheerful again Joann accepted the change in plans. After finishing the convo Felix was just entering the section where Tedak and Ji'zhan vanished from. He saw that Sharon and Dodger were already there.
"Ok, here's what we're going to do", Felix said to them
"Dodger, you're our resident expert in covert OPS therefore i task you with the assignment to get to Tedak and Ji'zhan before the presidential security does, this is of the utmost importance.", he said
"Think you can manage", he questioned
"I will do my best", Dodger responded as she left the group and proceeded to a nearby Jeffries tube entrance
"As for you", he said turning to Joan, "We'll scan for any anomalous readings on the base and when we find some, we'll go there ourselves and check them out. I assume Tedak is using some sort of a device to conceal his and Ji'zhan's bio signs.", Felix replied

The Romulan froze as he felt the Debrune's hand on his shoulder, feeling as though suddenly all motor control had been taken from him. Only Ji'Zhan's support held him on his feet, and Tedak knew that the Debrune could easily have overpowered him, especially since the weapon he had been holding had been completely devoid of energy.
He felt the Debrune entered his mind, even as he felt energy drain from him. When it was over, he sat numbly beside his Debrune friend/captive, listening to what he was saying and nodding here and there where he felt it was appropriate to do so. He accepted Ji'Zhan's hand and the help in getting up. "I'll be in trouble for this," he then spoke softly, "even if you don't press charge." He shrugged tiredly. "If that helps stopping this madness, so be it."
Tedak sounded almost defeated, and after taking a few paces he sat back down on a cargo container. "Do what you must Ji'Zhan," he continued, waving his hand limply at the Debrune, "obviously you need to return to your people. My part is done, Vebn will be content in hearing I'm discredited. I do wish to thank you for playing along, I know you could've prevented me from abducting you easily." He showed Ji'Zhan his weapon. "Especially since the battery of this weapon is rather...empty shall we say?" He forced himself to smile. "You should go, unless you wish to wait for security? I'll be waiting for them, I'm sure Magellan will want to have a rant about being foolish and stupid and all that."

Ji'Zhan was running through his mind for things that could make an outcome favor the Ambassador. Nothing was coming to mind. "Do what you must Ji'Zhan," Tedak continued, waving his hand limply at the Debrune, "obviously you need to return to your people. My part is done, Vebn will be content in hearing I'm discredited."
"You have played into his hands my friend," Ji'Zhan responded. "However, you should now be favored once again with your people."
"I do wish to thank you for playing along, I know you could've prevented me from abducting you easily." Tedak showed Ji'Zhan his weapon. "Especially since the battery of this weapon is rather...empty shall we say?" He forced himself to smile.
"I honestly didn't know that," Ji'Zhan said returning the smile.
"You should go, unless you wish to wait for security? I'll be waiting for them, I'm sure Magellan will want to have a rant about being foolish and stupid and all that."
"You have acted a bit rash, I must admit. However, you have done what you needed to do - from a Romulan point of view. Now you will get to see if Vebn is any type of man at all; he should be willing to stand by your side. If he does not, then you will instantly know the type of person he is ... in his heart."
Ji'Zhan walked across the room and touch the wall panel and activated the communication - only to Lily. "Lily, this is Elder Ji'Zhan."
"Elder, you and the Ambassador are being searched for."
"I know Lily. Please hear me and do as I ask ... Contact Admiral Lin and inform him of our location. However, only inform him and no one else. I would ask you, if you can, to not allow anyone to find us until the Admiral is notified and he or Felix finds us."
"Elder, I will inform Admiral Lin but I cannot promise I can accommodate the second part of your request, however I will try until I'm directly asked."
"Lily, I think you as this situation has the possibility of turning out unfavorably."
Ji'Zhan returned to his friend and sat beside him, "Tedak, I will stay here with you for you are my brother and are in need; if brothers cannot help brothers, then what is the use of any of this?"
The two sat and talked about the time they have known each other. Ji'Zhan asked about T'Val and how that made him feel. They talked about the Federation and the Vulcan-Romulan-Debrune. The two sat for a long time on the cold surface of the cargo container.

Magellan stood his arms apart leaning on the master operations table watching as a blue line worked its way up a graphic of the starbase.
=^=I have the locations of Tedak and Ji'zahn=^= Lily reported,
"Excellent, where"
=^= Elder Ji'Zahn has explained that Tedak is not at fault and that they are in Cargobay 16 C.=^=
"Thank you Lily" Magellan tapped the master screen and enlarged the schematic of that deck, "Blast" he cursed thumping a fist down, "Falcones people are working that area. FELIX" he shouted.
Felix paused at the door and returned. Magellan reached beneath the table to a locker and withdrew a hand phaser. He took out another and tossed it to Felix who caught with one hand and checked the charge.
"Zoilip, I want you to tell Falcone we have a confirmed sighting of Tedak on Cargo Level 16." Magellan said checking his own phaser.
Zoilip nodded and smiled "Consider it done" F'rass looked less happy at the deception but remained quiet.
"Lily. Site to Site transport to Cargobay 16 C. Two to beam up" he ordered beckoning for Felix to stand beside him.
=^=Acknowledged=^= Lily stated as already the disappered in a shimmering haze.
As their vision cleared Magellan and Felix found themselves in a crowded Cargobay. Huge containers were stacked several feet high and in neat rows that created narrow corridors and irregular open spaces. Magellan motioned for Felix to go one way and he took another. He moved confidently down one corridor his phaser held have raised.
Carefully he began a quick systematic search of the area and began on a second when a shout came from Felix,
"Over here"
Magellan ran towards the sound of his voice and found Felix stood beside Ji'Zahn and Tedak, also present was Commodore Rita Falcone and two Phaser Rifle armed guards.
"Are you Okay" Magellan said to Ji'zahn favouring Tedak with a venomous glare.
"Admiral" she greeted with a curt nod of the head and a fake smile, "Mr Savali here is denying us our arrest."
"I do not wish charges to be pressed" Ji'Zahn stated "Ambassador Tedak was mistaken in his actions and has diplomatic rights."
"The President has waved his rights. He no longer has diplomatic immunity. His activities threaten the security of the President and the ongoing diplomatic relations of two intergalactic powers." Rita said "I have jurisdiction in this matter"
"Actually technically as this attempt was not against the President but a visiting Foreign National it remains for local law enforcement to deal with"
"Semantics" Rita spat
"The law is full of semantics, its what makes it work."
"I will not have this...man free whilst the President is here."
Magellan looked at Rita and reluctantly nodded,
"I have to agree with you Commodore. I also agree with Mr Savali here. Therefore... Ambassador Tedak as per current orders by the President of the United Federation of Planets you are stripped of Diplomatic Immunity. You in the eyes of the UFP no longer represent your people. For the abduction of Elder Ji'zahn..."
"I do not wish to press charges" Ji'Zahn repeated
Magellan seemed to ignore him, "...for entry to restricted cargo areas and for carrying an unlicenced weapon are hereby placed under arrest."
felix moved up beside Tedak and began to lead him away to the nearest security station.
"Happy?" Magellan asked Rita
"Not really" she replied, "But it will do for now. Elder Ji@zahn let me escort you back to your quarters."

Ezdreiana was confused by the Elder's remark, but when she contacted Admiral Lin she quickly found out why. Ezdreiana was almost out the door when she stopped herself. She couldn't take the chance that Vrened would choose another diplomat to continue the talks with the Debrune. She knew that Ji'Zhan would be safe, Tedak wouldn't hurt him.
"Lily, can you tell me if Tedak was arrested?" Ezdreiana asked hoping to find out more information.
"Yes, Tedak has been arrested," Lily responded.
"By whom?" Ezdreiana asked hoping it wouldn't be the Presidential guard.
"Commodore Savaili arrested him for carrying an illegal weapon," Lily said.
"Thank you Lily," Ezdreiana said smiling. It seemed that Admiral Lin had come up with a way to keep Tedak under there supervision. ~These talks need to begin first thing tomorrow~

It didn't take long for the cavalery to arrive and when they did, both Ji'Zhan and Tedak rose to their feet. He listened quietly to Magellan's rant, casting the Debrune ambassador a meaningful look. While he listened, he held out his Romulan energy weapon to Felix to have a look at. He was certain the commodore would come to the conclusion that even if he had wanted to he'd never been able to fire it since the battery was empty.
Additionally, he slowly removed his honour blade and handed it hilt first to Felix, pointedly ignoring the female commodore in the process. He still hadn't spoken a word but his entire stance was one of defeat. Tedak cast a final glance on Ji'Zhan before walking, somewhat unsteadily, with Felix.
When they were out of hearing shot of the others, Tedak finally looked up. "I had no choice," he confessed, "it was a last resort." There was of course no excuse for his choice of action and he knew it just as well as Felix did. "But I'll not argue any charges, and I'll go with you without argument."
(felix)
"What will happen now?" he wondered aloud, "and would you please inform Ambassador s'Khellian of my arrest? I'm certain he'd like to be informed." He felt emotionally and physically drained; he was grateful for Felix' support for now, even when he didn't like to be touched. He sent both his firelizards a mental note to stay away for now, and keep out of sight of the president and her entourage at all times.

"People who commit a crime often argue the fact that they had no choice, they were forced to do it or any other excuse that they could use to diminish the level of their guilt.", Felix said
After Tedak finished his second talking spree, Felix responded to his question.
"For now we will lock you up. But we are not going to turn you over to the presidential security force, which all in its self shows we are not taking it for granted that you actually meant to hurt anyone.", he said
After Felix finished talking the two entered the turbolift and after a short ride finally reached the nearest security station. When they entered Felix turned Tedak over to the officer on duty who escorted him to a cell. When the two were out of sight, Felix put the weapons Tedak handed over on the security desk and examined them more thoroughly. He determined that the weapon Tedak used was diminished and therefore could not cause any trouble but it could still be used as a weapon by hitting someone with it.
After the guard returned, Felix handed the weapons over to him and had him contact the Romulan embassy and informed them of the arrest of Tedak. Once that was completed he proceeded down the corridor towards Tedak's cell. Upon reaching it, he deactivated the field he stepped inside.
"Now Mr. Tedak, as you are aware we need to try and determine what exactly you intended to do by abducting Ji'zhan. For the beginning what were you doing with an unreported weapon? Did you smuggle it on the station, buy it from someone? I am sure you are aware that all weapons personal or otherwise that are brought on this station must be reported to station security, otherwise you can be charged with illegal weapons trafficking, possession and a whole load of other crimes which can end up with you being deported from the federation as you are not a federation citizen or you could end up in prison for several years.", Felix said
<Tag Tedak>
"But considering your weapon was not charged... we might be able to resolve this more painlessly.", he said
<Tag Tedak>
"Now, what did you abduct Ji'zhan?", he questioned, "Why didn't you have a choice? Were you threatened to do it? Paid? Blackmailed? Who ordered you to do it if anyone? Why did you choose Ji'zhan and not someone else? Is this a part of a plan to attack the president of the federation? Did you have accomplices? Did they fail? What did you hope to accomplish? Is this abduction sanctioned by the Romulan Star Empire? Do you know that even if the person you abducted doe not bring up charges against you, we can still put you on trial for it?", Felix dropped the whole load of questions on Tedak at once

Still dazed, Tedak had a little trouble digesting the questions that were rapid-fired at him. "Yes I'm aware of that," he replied slowly, as he rubbed his arms. He feld cold, tired and completely drained. "My weapon, to my knowledge was not unreported. Vebn insisted that I carry it, he made it quite plain that I was to use it. Except that I chose to leave it uncharged. And yes I'm aware of that, and my own personal weapon has been registered. Speaking of which, I would ask that the weapon remains in your care or in that of Ji'Zhan or Ambassador Saarok. It is very valuable to me."
"But considering your weapon was not charged... we might be able to resolve this more painlessly."
Tedak nodded numbly. "I hope so, but the fact remains that I carried a weapon that apparently was unregistered. I was unaware of that."
"Now, what did you abduct Ji'zhan?"
"Because I had to. It was the only way to make them see, really. And I didn't have much of a choice, even though it was meant to be a ruse. Ji'Zhan knew beforehand that it was going to happen; I did give him advance warning."
"Why didn't you have a choice? Were you threatened to do it? Paid? Blackmailed? Who ordered you to do it if anyone? Why did you choose Ji'zhan and not someone else? Tedak's eyes flashed suddenly in fury as he glanced up at Felix. "Paid?" he hissed, "I am not for sale commodore. Bribes fall on deaf ears with me. Ambassador Saarok can vouch for that. Ambassador s'Khellian ordered me to do whatever was necessary to get the Debrune to see that joining with the Empire would be for their own benefit. And if I were to fail in doing that...yes he did threaten me, and my son indirectly."
He slumped back on the cot, the sudden fury gone again. "I didn't have any accomplices commodore. I wouldn't endanger someone else in an endeavour that could have me killed. And yes I understand that I can still be put on trial. Didn't the president strip me of my privileges as diplomat? As SBA official I still lack any proper rights since I am not a Federation citizen. Yes I understand all to well commodore, but I did what I had to do, what I thought was right to get information across."
Tedak narrowed his eyes as he stared at Felix. "How much do you know about the Tholian ploy and the colonial wars? And the Romulan involvement in it?"

"So, the Romulan Empire is attempting to sabotage the talks with the Debrune?"; Felix asked a rhetorical question
"As for the current colonial situation, i know some of it, but seeing it does not fall within my current assignment I am not in detail familiar with the situation.", he responded
"However if you have any information you wish to share... you can.", he said
<Tag Tedak>
After he finished his conversation with Tedak, Felix left his cell and reactivated the force filed. As he was passing the guard on his way out he told him to contact sickbay and have them send someone down to examine Tedak as he was not looking good. And he picked up the weapons Tedak gave him; he was going to keep his eye on these as he did not want them to unexpectedly disappear.
After departing from the brig he questioned Lily regarding the whereabouts of Admiral Lin. After learning he was back in OPS, Felix proceeded there himself. After a longer travel through the base, he finally arrived in OPS.
"Admiral"; Felix called Magellan as he approached him
The presidential security chief was still there trying to argue over taking custody over Tedak.
"If i may have a private word with you", Felix asked Magellan who after this manage to get the security chief to move of a bit
"I have spoken to Tedak and it seems Ambassador Vebn threatened his family if he did not put a stop to the Federation Debrune negotiations and this stunt was apparently prearranged with Ji'zhan in order to convince Vebn he is doing everything he can to stop the negotiations.", Felix said

"Father," T'Val said, as she approached the older Vulcan who was standing outside sickbay. "Are you ready to beam down to Qualinost?"
Soric nodded. "But not before you reconcile with your mate," he spoke calmly, motioning towards sickbay, "he meant well T'Val and you know that."
"He had no right to mention my son's heritage to them," T'Val scowled, "he is not yet D'Beren's father, even though he is called such. D'Beren loves him, like he loves Tedak, but Stuart is not his father. And the president does not need to know such private affairs. It is the affair of my people, not hers."
"My people?" Soric querried, raising his eyebrow at his daughter. "Since when are the Debrune your people? You are Vulcan T'Val, never forget that."
"I am Vulcan," she acknowledged, "but I am also Debrune. Tests have proven that, and I shall not deny my heritage, either of them. But if it pleases you, I shall invite Stuart to come with us. I want you two to get to know eachother anyway. Now is as good a time as any."
The two Vulcans, accompanied by the toddler, walked into sickbay, where they found the CMO working in his office. "My daughter has something to say to you," Soric announced, unceremoniously shoving T'Val forward.
T'Val in turn cast her father a murderous look, then stepped forward. "We would like you to join us on our trip to Qualinost," she said, as she walked up to him. ~and I am sorry~ she thought.
Then, Rayna approached them as well, a troubled look on her face. "He's done it again," she murmured.
"He who?" Soric enquired though by the look on T'Val's face he could take a guess.
"Ambassador Tedak," Rayna answered, "he's gotten himself arrested again."
T'Val sighed. "What else is new? He is a strong man, he can manage himself. He has come through worse predicaments than that, trust me. Now, I really do not wish to postpone our trip to Qualinost. We have a lot to discuss." She cast a sheepish grin at Stuart and then a meaningful one at Rayna. "Will I meet you tomorrow for dinner Rayna?"
Rayna grinned. "You bet! Have a good trip."

As Felix left the cell, Tedak allowed himself to slump down on the cot and stared at the ceiling. "If there is anything more to tell you ask me," he pondered, then retold everything he had told his friends, leaving no detail out. "This possibly makes me a traitor in the eyes of my people commodore," he added, "but if this will prevent a war, I'd rather be a traitor, than stand by and let millions of innocents die."
He listened as Felix walked away and called for a medic to come look in on him. Now that Felix mentioned his poor appearance, Tedak felt even worse for wear. He recalled Ji'Zhan entered his mind and sifting through his memories for the truth. During that time he'd been held immobile though a means he couldn't understand. It had been a very frightening experience and now more than ever did Tedak understand that Ji'Zhan could be a very dangerous man if he so chose.
Even now, Tedak was still convinced that, had Ji'Zhan not wanted to co-operate, he would never have done so. Not only was Ji'Zhan stronger and better trained, the Debrune was also gifted with remarkable telepathic skills that even T'Val didn't understand. And again he had proven that skill when he had searched the Romulan's mind without causing too much discomfort, other than the drained feeling.
The Romulan would welcome the presence of a medic, hoping it would be T'Val. Except that he knew she was probably on Qualinost now with her father, as she said she would be. He propped himself up on one elbow as he heard doors slide open and shut. To his utter amazement it wasn't a healer, but Vebn s'Khellian that had entered the holding cell area. Sighing, Tedak let himself roll onto his back again and continued to stare at the ceiling, as if Vebn wasn't there at all.

Vebn stood in front of the forcefield nearly as incandescent as its flickering blue glare with rage. His hands worked furiously before he clenched them tightly and set his jaw. Composing himself slightly he took a step towards the cell and looked at the man within.
"Do you realise what you have done? Do you have any notion the damage you have done to our people. Do you think the Debrune are more or less likely to talk with us? Well...."
Tedak favoured Vebn with nonchalant glance,
"You told me to stop the Federation/Debrune negotiations anyway possible"
Vebn nearly exploded,
"I DIDNT MEAN THIS" he roared, "I had thought your friendship and knowledge of the Debrune would allow you to convince Ji'Zhan of our benefits. Instead you do...this. You kidnap a foreign diplomat in a very very clumsy way. You are caught. You have disgraced your position and our people"
"I helped my people by earning trust"
Vebn shook his head,
"Do you think the Debrune trust any more now? Do you think the Federation trust us any more now? No. The answer is NO. In one stroke you have probably ended any hopes of Reunification, at the best you have set it back generations."
TAG Tedak
Vebn ignored him
"You are a diplomat on my staff and so ultimately I am responsible for you. This will look bad for me. But I can weather that storm, you may not. I cannot... will not support you any longer. What ever our superiors at the Senate decide I will abide by. You better hope you still have some friends left in the Empire." Vebn turned to depart and then stopped at the door and added quietly, "I will attempt to arrange for your release, but dont count on it."
