Tiffani had not received very much sleep, she rubbed her face as she rose from the couch, placing the picture on the table where it belonged. she sighed
*Computer what time is it?* she asked.
*0700* replied the computer
Tiffani sighed and went into her room and took a quick shower, then proceed to fix her a quick bite to eat, it was going to be a long day, she knew that, as she was finishing up her door chimed
At 08:42, Nika stood outside of Commander Rylka's quarters. “Are you ready to be acquitted?” Nika asked, as the doors slid open. Nika had decided that the best thing to do was show that she stood by her first officer, and so the Victory senior staff planned to all beam aboard to that station and show up at the courtroom together.
Tiffani only half smiled at the Captains question. *I'm ready for this to be over that is for sure.*
Nika and Tiffani didn't talk to each other much on the way to the Victory transporter room, it didn't seem like they had terribly much to say. Both of them were very aware of the security officers trailing Tiffani. The rest of the senior staff were waiting, and Nika trusted that they had found what they could to help clear Commander Rylka's name, along with the appointed legal representative, Taleni. Nika had worked out with Taleni that he would leave to the actual officers the presentation of evidence, but he would introduce.
Tiffani looked at all the officer by her side so readily to defend her, even though she barely knew half them. she smiled a bit and then suddenly spoke up
*I would just like to say thank you to everyone, I know you don't have to do this, especianlly since we don't really know each other that well* she said more looking at Tiberian, he had stood by her right from the start, was something you didn't always see in a good officer. *So i just wanted to let you all know how much it means that your supporting me in this and standing by my side, no matter what happens in that court room today, i want it know that you are all fine officer* as she finished the slowly began taking their place on the transporter to be beamed over with the two security officers on either side of her.

A soon as the captain asked him to meet her in the ready room Ardawen moved directly to it.
He came there long before the 18 minutes where up, but he sat down to take a bit of rest.
As soon the captain walked in Ardawen went to his feet and quickly informed the captain.
Then he went back to sickbay where he had work to be done.
Sickbay was nice an quiet so he send the other personnel to there quarters to rest.
He went trough the medical files again, printing it in his head, when finally the report of the autopsy came in.
As he already knew nothing surprising was to be found, the only things that might be of valluewhere
1. that the shooter knew exactly where to hit his of her victim.
2. Al tree of the shots came from point blank so the shooter had to be well know the victim
Ardawen took a breath, he was very low on sleep, but he had to work on.
While he was buzzy reading the last medical files something hit him.
His conspiracy theory was coming up again.
"Computer" he asked "look up Cmdr Rylka's history file"
The computer went silent then he answered "please speak the security encryption"
Ardawen went to his feet "Computer forget my last question, when was the file encrypted?"
"One week ago" the computer reply ed
By who "Ardawen repeated his question"
"unknown" was the computers reply.
Ardawen sank down to his seed. This was weird.
He looked at the time, there was no time ti think about it, Ardawen had worked all night and had to go to the transport room to meet the captain and the rest for the trial.
He made sure he looked a bid better, picked up the very same bag (with the phaser in it) and went to the transporter room where the rest was just getting ready to leave.

The group of Victory Starfleet officers proceeded, after transporting over, to the station courtroom. The former ambassador's legal representative, an Andorian named Osian, had not yet arrived, though there was a minor court official. Nika couldn't determine whether the fact that Kade's representative hadn't showed up yet was a good omen or not, but it probably wouldn't make much of a difference.
Once everyone had come in, and were seated, the overseeing judge came in. Everyone, through some antiquated idea that Nika did not understand but did go along with, stood when he entered and weren't seated until he had done so.
“Are all parties and necessary associates here?” he asked.
“Everyone with the prosecution is here,” Osian said.
“As is the defense,” replied Commander Rylka's station-appointed, Vulcan, legal representative, Taleni.
“Excellent,” said the overseeing judge. “Please bear in mind that this is just a time for the submission of evidence, witnesses, and two character witnesses. No arguments shall be made by the legal representatives.”
“Understood,” answered the two legal representatives.
Osian stepped forward, holding a PADD in her hand and putting it on the table that was set up for the purpose of gathering evidence. “This PADD contains an authorized copy of the sensor recordings that show the defendant murdering Ambassador Kade.” The Andorian also brought up the murder weapon, which she had reclaimed only an hour earlier. “This is the gun used, without a doubt, for the murder. It did not have any fingerprints or DNA on it.”
“Thank you,” said the judge. “Defense?”
“As evidence witness, I submit Lieutenant Wong,” Taleni said.
The judge acknowledged Lt. Wong, and he took a seat in one of the chairs.
“Could you please give your name and position, for the record,” asked Taleni, emotionlessly.
“Senior Marine Officer of the USS Victory-C, 1st Lieutenant Tiberian Wong.”
“And in what capacity are you testifying today?”
“As marine officer, with sensor analysis.”
“Proceed.”
<Tag Tiberian-explain briefly your findings, what you mentioned in your last post>
The judge accepted Wong's evidence, and asked Taleni how many more witnesses were planned.
“Two. For my next witness I call up Commander Rylka.”
The prosecution legal representative looked a little taken aback, since it was unusual for the defendant to be called in the middle of the witnesses. But since this was a pre-trial hearing there wasn't anything forbidding Commander Rylka to going before someone else.
“Could you please give your name and position,” asked Taleni.
“First Officer of USS Victory-C, Commander 1st Class Tiffani Rylka.”
“And in what capacity are you testifying today?”
“As defendant and character witness.”
“Where were you between when you first left the diplomatic conference last night and the time at which the murder occurred?”
<Tag Tiffani, feel free to explain as much as you want, as well as making up additional questions.>
“Thank you. For the last witness I call Captain Cir'Kem.”
Nika nodded to Taleni, and sat in the chair.
“Could you please give your name and position.”
“Captain of the USS Victory-C, Nikaila Cir'Kem.”
“And in what capacity are you testifying today?”
“As former science officer, and as captain.”
“Proceed.”
Nika glanced around the room, and at the crew. “Mr. Judge,” she said.
“Please don't directly address the court,” she was told.
“I have evidence that has a security level 10 code on it,” Nika said frankly. “I believe I should be able to present that evidence without jeopardizing the reason that it was security encrypted.”
The judge nodded. “Acknowledged. Unfortunately you and I are the only ones with that security clearance.”
Nika had been afraid that that might be the case.
“However we can meet privately, if everyone would please excuse us for a second,” the judge said.
Nika nodded, and stood up and followed the judge into a private room. “Is this prevented from sensor recordings and eavesdropping?” she asked.
“Yes,” the judge replied. “What's the evidence you have?” he asked, and his face said that it better be worth the trouble and time.
Nika regarded the PADD she had brought, and entered a code to change the screen that was showing to the actual data. “Upon running an analysis of the underlying code and sub-sequenced binary, the results were not available without my security code.” Nika handed the PADD to the judge. Call it cultural heritage, or paranoia, or anything else, but Nika didn't feel comfortable saying things that required high security clearance out loud.
The judge only studied the PADD for a short time. “I'm afraid I was never a science officer. Care to explain this to me.”
“Oh. Of course. Sorry,” Nika apologized. “An analysis of the sensor recordings that are 'official' shows that they have some similarities with recordings produced by Edo sensors, but are almost exact matches to a splinter isolationist group of Arbazan.” Nika had at first been confused by the fact that she couldn't find a match to the sensor recordings. But after a fair bit of delving into level 8 to 10 clearance levels, she had found out specifics about the Arbazan.
“It certainly doesn't match the equipment that is said to have created it,” Nika finished.
“Hmm,” said the judge. “You realize I'm going to have to investigate this further.”
“Of course,” Nika said.
“That being said, from the evidence presented by both sides, I don't believe there will be enough evidence to cast remotely reasonable suspicion on Commander Rylka. First the evidence submitted will have to be verified.”
Nika nodded, and followed the judge back to the main courtroom. “I'm going to need an hour and a half to come to a decision. If you could all please stay here until then, it shouldn't take overly long. If anyone is hungry there is a replicator. Thank you.”
Nika glanced around at her officers, especially Tiffani. She hadn't realized they would be confined here, but she could live with it.

The senior staff transported over to the station, and proceeded with haste to the station courtroom. Before they entered, Tiberian gestured to the two security guards to leave, thinking an armed escort seemed more like an admission of guilt than anything else. The security guards looked nervously at each other, seemingly unsure of what to do. "You're dismissed" Tiberian said fimly, a hint of threat in his voice. The guards snapped to attention and left. Tiberian smiled at the Commander. "What's the point of power if you can't abuse it a little, here and there" They entered the courtroom and took their seats. Tiberian thought through his evidence as the defense and prosecution postured and bared their teeth at each other. He waited, until finally he heard his name called.
"As evidence witness, I submit Lieutenant Wong,” Taleni said.
“Proceed.” Tiberian stood and placed the isolinear chips into the console near him and activated the projector. "As you can see here, the firing of a twentieth century firearm results in the release of a fine trace of distinctive residue, easily identified by modern day sensors. This residue could be removed, but only by cleaning or laundering the suspects clothing. I hereby present to you all the sensor logs, from both he station and aboard the USS Victory. As you can see, these logs run all the way through, from the crime until this morning. As you can see, at no point has the Commander done anything that could potentially remove the residue, yet despite this, my scans can find no trace of residue in any of the sensor logs. This presents us with two possibilities. One, Commander Rylka did not fire this weapon, at which point she is not guilty, or two these sensor ogs have been altered, at which point they are inadmissable as evidence" The judge accepted Wong's evidence, and asked Taleni how many more witnesses were planned. Tiberian returned to his seat as Commander Rylka came forward. As they passed each other, Tiberian whispered: "Miscarriage of justice notwithstanding, the beers are on you tonight ma'am" Tiberian took his seat and listened attentively to the remainder of the trial. He was particularly interested when the Captain returned, and the crew was told to wait in the courtroom. Tiberian wandered over, and leaned on a wall nearby the Captain. Without looking directly at her, he said: "Do you know ma'am, that Starfleet regulations permit the Captain of a vessel to temporarily increase the security clearance level of an officer if they deem it necessary" He cast her a sideways glance and smiled "I just thought it was something interesting ma'am" He snapped to attention and smiled once again.

Nika smiled at Tiberian. “Are you perhaps trying to hint something?” she asked him, knowing exactly what it was he was trying to suggest. And it might be a good idea, except there was actually no reason that Tiberian, or any other of her crew members, would be helped if they knew this. Except maybe Tiffani, only Nika couldn't help but think of how it would look if she increased Rylka's security clearance while they were awaiting judgment from a trial.
The judge was still gone, when the door to the room opened. Everyone turned to look at the person who entered, in a security uniform. “Captain Cir'Kem?” the asked, glancing at the ranks of everyone wearing red.
“That's me,” Nika answered.
“Could you please come with me?” asked the officer.
Nika raised an eyebrow, but stood up. This trial was turning out to be quite bizarre. She followed the security officer out to the corridor, where he explained: “The station commander wants to speak with you about some of the findings of this trial.”
Nika nodded, she hadn't really understood why the station commander wasn't being more involved in the trial. After all, it involved the murder of a diplomat, on the station grounds, allegedly by a Starfleet officer. She was shown into a meeting room, where the station commander was waiting. “I've been told that the murder investigation, on my station, is taking a worrying turn.”
Nika just nodded again, she wasn't sure what she could say, since as far as she was concerned the investigation had been pretty darn worrying before.
“The report the judge gave me mentioned a splinter pro-isolationist Arbazan group? Care to explain what you know about this?”
“Of course,” Nika said. “Not only do they think that they themselves should be isolationist, they think everyone else should be isolationist as well. So rather than actually being isolationist, they set themselves the goal of sabotaging relations between other powers.”
“And you think they murdered the Lumerian ambassador in order to sabotage relations between the Lumerians and the Betazoids.”
“It's certainly possible,” Nika answered. “The Victory is currently working on recovering the original data from the sensors, but with station aid the process could go much faster.”
“Yes. The station will entirely take over the process now. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Nika glanced curiously at the station commander, but she chose not to parrot any of his words back in order to say the question they both knew she had.
“The security involved would better be contained if it was handled exclusively by station personnel trained to handle these kinds of diplomatic incidents.”
“I see. And how will this affect the trial of my first officer?”
“You're not asking me to affect the trial process!” asked the station commander indignantly.
“That's right, I'm not. I'm sorry you misunderstood me. I just wanted to know how much longer it would be,” Nika explained, smiling slightly at the awkwardness of the station commander's misunderstanding.

After the first part of the trail Ardawen walked arround a bit not knowing where to go or what to do. He was sad that he did not find anything usefull to help the cmdr. He was also overthinking the voice enqruiption of the personal files of the cmdr. Normaly if starfleet wanned to keep something from lower ranks they would secure it with by security level, so why do it with voice enqruiption this time? He could not figure it out.
While thinking and walking he bumped in tiberian.
<tag tiberian>
I'm so sorry I was overthinking something maybe I can share it with you.
<tag tiberian>
Ardawen told Tiberian everything about the voice enqruipted file of the cmdr. after he was done he looked at Tiberian. "So what are your thoughts about it" he asked

Nika returned to the courtroom after finishing her talk with the station commander. She didn't walk back to her seat, but rather walked over to be next to Tiffani. “You're practically cleared of the charges,” Nika said, talking only to Tiffani, but her voice was loud enough that if someone truly wanted they wouldn't have to try very hard to overhear her. “Right now they're just working on bureaucratic forms to insure themselves and any future descendants that they followed all the rules for the trial. I would be surprised if it takes more than another half-hour.”
<Tag Tiffani>
After talking with Tiffani a little more, Nika proceeded to her own seat. She felt a lot like a third-grader, who had been sent out into the hallway to be reprimanded by the principal. “What's with all the secret meetings and high-security clearance requirements?” asked the Andorian prosecution legal representative, who was sitting near Nika. “I understand if that information is classified, but what about the part that's not?”
Nika raised her eyebrows briefly. She understood the representative's curiosity though, and while she had better things to do they all involved work and her being allowed to return to the Victory, which didn't look like it was going to happen anytime soon. And she knew that a few members of the crew were also listening, trying to find out what the situation was, and Nika figured that they had a right to know. But there wasn't really all that much information she could share. “Basically it's politics and diplomacy. It currently looks like Commander Rylka was framed to strain the relationship between her people and the former ambassadors.”
The Andorian legal representative still looked inquisitive, but he didn't ask anything else. It took another half hour before the doors opened again, and the judge entered. Once again, everyone stood. The judge walked over to where he had been standing earlier before starting to speak: “I have reached a verdict. Due to the evidence, a significant portion of which is classified, which is sufficient enough to remove any doubt of Commander Rylka's innocence, I am clearing her of the charge of murder. I apologize for any inconvenience caused, and thank you for your time.”
Nika was going to wait and talk to Tiffani, but she was fairly certain that someone else wanted to talk to her. She left the room, and saw the station commander standing outside the door, as she had suspected he might be. “Let me guess,” Nika said as he opened his mouth, “You think it would be best for everyone if the Victory were to leave now.”
“Actually, yes,” he replied, apparently not seeing any need to shorten his explanation even though Nika knew the conclusion he was going to reach. “For reasons of limiting diplomatic incidences, it might be best if an accused murderer did not play a significant role in the talks.”
“Won't it seem suspicious if we leave right after my first officer is cleared of a murder charge?” Nika asked.
“Less suspicious than it would be if you were to leave before she would be cleared,” the station commander said. Nika didn't laugh. The station commander shrugged. “But it won't really be all that suspicious. It seems like perfectly rational behavior. I know I wouldn't want to stay in a place where I they falsely accused me of murder.” The station commander winked. “Not that we didn't have a good reason to suspect Commander Rylka, of course.”
Nika could see that she wasn't likely to receive an answer she liked any more than what she had been already getting. She tilted her head ten degrees, and nodded slowly. “Thank you,” she forced a smile. As she walked away, she tapped her commbadge. </\>Captain Cir'Kem to all crew, please prepare for departure</\>

"Now that's damn perculiar" Tiberian said after Ardawen explained about the Commander's personnel file. Who would want to lock down such innocuous material. "Wait here" Tiberian told Ardawen "I'll be back shortly. If the Captain asks, I'm in the latrine" He walked off, and entered the convenience adjacent to the courtroom. Once inside he encrypted the door codes, and set his tricorder to emit sensor jamming interference. Confident that he was assured some privacy, Tiberian knelt down beside a control panel and removed the covering. Rewiring the panel, he established a link with the Victory, and using his (pathetically low level) command codes began trying to override the security lock outs. A few moments later he gave this up as a bad job, and instead began attempting to hack the system. This was similar to trying to attach wheels to a tomato, time consuming, and utterly pointless. What was curious, was that this level of encryption and security protocols was practically unheard of, even for something of Level 10 significance. The only time Tiberian had ever even heard of this level of security was when he had had a colleague who worked on attachment to an officer at Starfleet Headquarters. He had been told that only the most secret of Federation matters had been through this sort of security rigging. Bearing in mind to inform the Captain of all this when they were alone, Tiberian reset everything he had moved and returned, hoping no-one had noticed his absence. He returned and stealthily took up a spot behind Commander Rylka, arriving just in time to hear of the Victory's impending departure. "Not a bloody moment to soon either" Tiberian said indignantly, as the station commander walked away "Request permission to return and set a course for somewhere very, very far away" Tiberian smiled.

*I had returned to the ship, as i wasn't feeling well* She replied
*Do you have any witnesses to this?*
*Yes, You can speak to the Doctor and the Counselor onboard the Victory, i spoke to both of them while i was gone*
*Very well, no further questions*
Tiffani stepped down and made her way back to her seat, she was glad that it was over, she only wished the whole trial hadn't happened, she listened as the Captain spoke, she was surpised when the Captain and the Judge went away privately to discuss the security file, she wondered what was in it that required privacy, she only hoped it was something that would clear her.
---- an hour or so later ---
Nika returned to the courtroom after finishing her talk with the station commander. Tiffani sighed *Thank you your honor* she said
Tiffani had turned to speak to the Captain when she noticed her speaking ot someone else.
She left the room, and saw the station commander standing outside the door, as she had suspected he might be. “Let me guess,” Nika said as he opened his mouth, “You think it would be best for everyone if the Victory were to leave now.”

Tiffani sighed *it'll be good to get back home, although i have a funny feeling it's gonna still take some time getting used to being out of my quarters* she said with a laugh
--- Back on the Victory---
Everyone was back on the victory and accounted for, they had just gotten off the transporter pad, and was about to head back to their stations, tiffani smiled it was nice knowing that people believed in her.
*Excuse me* She said getting everyones attention. *I would like to invite you all to the lounge later for drinks on me, I'd invite you to my quarters, but i'm rather tired of them* They all laughed and made way back to their stations, with the Captain giving the Helmsman orders to set course away from their current position.
