Now that all of the crew had arrived, and after a week's shoreleave on Bellicose, Elron decided it was time to haul anchor and set out for the frontiers once more. After all, what's the point of being 65 times faster than any other Federation starship if you don't go anywhere? Since the Black Tulip was now scheduled for deep-space exploration, her course and destinations were entirely at the discretion of the Admiral. Unsure of where to start, Elron had briefly consulted Starfleet Command for some recommendations. Just a short time earlier, Starfleet had confirmed the identity of the Black Tulip's intruder as being a wanted felon from Bellatrix VII. It wasn't clear how or why he'd travelled as far as Starbase Bellicose, since the Bellatrix system was near the outer-edge of Federation space in the Beta Quadrant. Starfleet Command suggested that the Black Tulip be good enough to drop him off with the relevent authorities for trial, since that would also be a convenient direction for the ship to travel in.
Although Starfleet had previously ordered many missions of exploration into Beta Quadrant territories, the standard limitations on operational range meant that even long-term deep-space missions could only penetrate so far into the Beta Quadrant. The border restrictions of the Klingon and Romulan Empires did little to help, and the threat of Borg encounters was of constant concern. After the outbreak of the Dominion War, Starfleet all but abandoned exploration of the Quadrant, and with so many of their ships destroyed in that war, it would be some years before Starfleet had reassembled enough resources to pick up where they had left off. Therefore much of the Beta Quadrant's far side was still uncharted by the Federation. Diplomatic relations with the Klingon and Romulan Empires were relatively good for the moment, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity for the Black Tulip to advance the boundaries of Federation knowledge. Who knows, they might even have the opportunity to make some new allies?
Admiral Elron sat in the command chair on the bridge of the USS Black Tulip. The cool of the chair's custom-fitted material felt pleasant against Elron's skin. As an Avari, he found the standard leather chairs far too hot and sweaty for comfort, but this chair stayed cool in any situation indefinitely. He sat upright, his back flush against the seat, and with both feet firmly planted on the ground. Those who had served on the Tulip's bridge for a long time knew that this posture wouldn't last though - he had usually reverted to a relaxed slouch by about an hour into the flight. Around him sat the ship's newly expanded command crew. Cmdr 1C Disasterman was at his now-familiar position to the front-left of the Admiral, able to monitor everything that happened on the Tulip from the control panel of his chair. Lt Cmdr Saberwyn sat at the flight conn with the power of both a quantum reactor and a warp core at his fingertips. Lt Colonel Burgess had moved from the First Officer's seat to the Operations Manager's station at the front of the bridge. He sat next to Bema Saberwyn, co-ordinating the various departmental functions of the ship and preparing its systems for whatever they may come across. Lt JG Damion Jhukat was at the primary tactical station, immediately to Elron's right. He was still getting used to the enormous weaponry and defensive systems available to the Sovereign class, but looked confident where he stood. The recently assigned Chief Science Officer Wolf J. Flywheel, also on his first mission with the Black Tulip and fresh from the Academy, stood opposite at the Science I console to the immediate left of Elron. Second Lt J'Ka, the man in charge of the Black Tulip's small troop of Starfleet Marines, stood directly fore of the tactical station at the security station. Although this position was usually filled by a member of the security department, such as the Asst CTSO, Elron had asked J'Ka to present with the rest of them for the launch.
"Docking umbilicals released; we're free of the starbase," reported Gary Burgess from the front of the bridge. "Bellicose has given us permission to depart."
"Thank you, Mr Burgess. Cmdr Saberwyn, take us out at standard impulse," ordered Elron. With the viewer active, everyone watched as they pulled away from the starbase. "Course, sir? asked Bema once they had advanced to a safe distance. "We'll start off nice and slow, Bema. Take us out of the system at maximum warp. Set course for the Beta Quadrant." "Aye, sir," the CNO replied. 'Nice and slow…' he laughed to himself silently.
Elron drummed his fingers on the arm of his chair for a few seconds, perhaps to build up the tension and sense of drama on the bridge. Only the hum and beeps of the ship's systems could be heard. Finally he raised a finger and brought it forward in the traditional gesture as he gave the order. "Engage!" The starfield on the viewscreen turned to streaks as they flew their way across the Alpha Quadrant, leaving Starbase Bellicose far behind…

Damion watched how the Avery commander stood on display to his bridge crew.
He stopped and looked around the bridge to all the other officers and felt somewhat the outsider. He started to run a control test on the shield energy transfer rates , not absolutely important but he liked to know what he was working with .
He heard the Admiral give the instruction to the Conn and realized straight away that it must have something to do with the intruder they now had in their brig.
He ran his hand down to his left and felt his phaser attached on his belt. Its not standard to carry it at all times on the bridge but it made him feel a little better about the situation. Something about this assignment worried him , and he felt that he was just worried that he would let people down.
There was a moment or two of silence as everyone waited for The man who would father this crew to give the order and Damion found that he had held his breath for that time...
"Engage" The order came and the view screen morphed to show a hundred worlds disappearing behind them as they went into high warp.

CMDRfc Disasterman was sitting in the Liaison Office on Starbase Bellicose when the order for all hands to return to the Black Tulip came in.He knew that it was finally time for shore leave to end and hopefully a new exploration mission was about to begin. He finished out the work he had, and then headed down the many corridors to the umbilical tube connecting the Tulip to the starbase. Taking a deep breath he walked across to the Tulip. Stopping for the briefest moment in his quarters to drop off a few personal items, the Commander headed to the bridge.
Disasterman took the seat that on most ships would be occupied by the ship's counselor, but was his whenever he was on board. The Commander really wanted to know where they were heading to make a decision about his personal craft. He knew that at any moment the ship could be recalled to the Tulip if needed, but so far the limits had only been tested in the Alpha Quadrant, and not that great of a distance when done.
Not really paying attention to what was happening on the bridge he suddenly heard the Admiral say, "... Set course for the Beta Quadrant."
"wow, the Beta Quadrant, this will be a real test for the craft." the Commander thought to himself. As the Tulip was about to jump to warp, the Commander sent his personal shuttle out of the shuttle bay, and off to the remote hiding place in space where only he and one or two people at Starfleet knew where it was. They could recall the ship just as easy as he could, but they rarely ever did.The shuttle bay doors closed and the Tulip jumped to warp on its way to the Beta quadrant. Disasterman hoped that once they did get there, he would have the opportunity to test the range on the shuttle recall, but time would only tell if that would ever happen.

As Col. Burgess heard the order to depart from Bellicose he started monitering the statues of both the Warp and the slipstream Drives monitering to see if anything was changing. He then turned and informed Elron that both engines was working at 100.5% power limits.
As they started heading toward the Beta Quadrant he started all ship sensors and began moniter all spaces infront of them. He know that they was Transporting the intruder that was in the Brig back to his home planet for his Trial on his War Crimes that he has committed in the past . So Col. Burgess was closely moniting the Engines to make sure everything went ok.

Bema had piloted them through the Majoris sector, where Bellicose was located, at maximum warp. The journey from Bellicose to Bellatrix would take considerable time under normal circumstances. Although around half of Federation space was located in the Beta Quadrant along with the Klingon and Romulan Empires, so entering the quadrant was not itself a big deal, it was mildly surprising that this criminal had travelled so far. However, Elron thought, it was convenient enough since it would send them in the direction of the more adventurous, uncharted regions of the quadrant. Thankfully the Black Tulip was equipped with their Quantum Slipstream Drive and could make the journey in just a few days. It wasn't clear what this prisoner was being accused of - some reports held him accountable for war crimes, others for piracy and others for simple theft. It didn't matter in the slightest to Elron though; all that mattered was that he was delivered into custody. Elron wanted to travel the first leg of the journey by warp before switching to slipstream. He didn't have a definite reason for this, but perhaps he just wanted to make sure that the Warp Drive could still be used while they had the QSD aboard. After a couple of hours, and after diagnostics had been run on all systems, Elron ordered Bema to drop out of warp and switch to slipstream. Even at those incredible speeds, it would still take them some time to reach their destination, so Elron ordered all department heads to write up some detailed reports on their departements. OFF: Now would be a good time to settle in, get to know each other, write some reports on your departments and run systems diagnostics. I won't keep you hanging around for long though, so don't waste any time. The prisoner isn't going to feature very heavily, unless you want to change the mission, so please don't post anything like an escape or rescue attempt or anything I've got a plan for what happens, but it can be changed or used later if you'd rather continue a war-crimes plot.

After the ship had been engaged at slipstream the Captain gave out further orders. After speaking to some other officers he came to Damion.
He instructed the new CTSO that he would be reacquired to get to know all the senior security staff by name to operate the department efficiently and do a physical check of all the weapons lockers on decks one thru five by the end of the shift.
Damion wondered if this was regular but decided that he should start right away.
He headed to wards Deck five first carrying two PADD's , one with the inventory list for the weapons lockers and one with a crew manifest focusing on security officers.
Two he had already met , one off duty and one on guard detail in the brig , fortunately since his capture the prisoner had been docile and co-operated.
Damion wondered if he would have to do the hand over when they got to the planet as it was a CTSO duty but being so far from core federation space and this being his first post perhaps the Admiral would be a more Diplomatic choice.

Cadet Wolf J. Flywheel................ correction Lieutenant J.g Wolf J. Flywheel, personal log.
I have graduated from the Section 47 Academy, and left the USS Hepta. There was some delay in the posting, however all has been sorted in the regimental fashion espected............ To my surprise i have not only been posted to a Sovereign class starship...... but the starship is the USS Black Tulip under the command of the second fleet commander Admiral Elron. MY arrival on the Black Tulip was quick and very quiet, felt almost like being booted on by the back door......... but after being given quarters .........which are incidentally huge in comparison to the cadet quarters i had before....... now where was i, ah yes, i got to the bridge and looked around we had already engaged warp and after the usual procedures i was quickly at my station. The station is not small but spacious and it is given pride of place, this is somewhat different to the positioning which is usually given at least on Romulan vessels to the science station...... but than we must remember that this science station is not given such a high priority, indeed the tactical and security stations are far more important, at least to a Romulan.
Flywheel sat at his console looked around, but than got down to setting his mark on the science department, after about 10 minutes a very tall man with light blue skin walked over, he was slender but had the uniform of an Admiral.
Elron: Lt Flywheel welcome aboard but lets keep our eyes on the path ahead and make sure we are not surprised.
Flywheel: Yes Admiral.
Elron: Good, we have a large set of science systems you can explore them at your leisure.
Flywheel: Yes sir, If i may, later on i would like to speak to the department.
Elron: Of course, you can have a free hand with them. Carry on.
Flywheels first meeting with Admiral Elron had gone professionally, the ship seemed set for an interesting time. So it was than FLywheel tapped the padd of the science station and called a temporary replacement, he than let the Ensign take over and he made his way to the 1st cargo bay, he tapped his comm badge.
Flywheel: <All Science staff, except the Ensign on duty on the bridge, please make you way to cargo bay one.>
Flywheel made his way to the large but vacuous cargo bay, in it there were quite a few officers in blue rimmed jackets, they were looking puzzled, but when the cold old Romulan entered they all stood to something which could at first glance have looked like an attempt at the attention position.
Flywheel: My name is Flywheel and yes i am Romulan, but i am the new department head, and i thought it wise for us to get acquainted and also so you could give me a summary of current operations and tasks.
Cheetham: My name is Lt Cheetham i was the acting chief science officer, may i welcome you, on behalf of the department, and in addition i have here a record of the department and current operations.
Flywheel: Excellent................ this is in order, if you can carry on current operations, and i should see some of you in the near future, any questions........ no....... than i declare the meeting closed, dismissed and thank you again for turning up so readily
Flywheel made his way back up the bridge and he was continually looking at the padd, he was very interested in the details and it appeared he was in charge of a very able solid well oiled department, but than what else would you expect from a Flagship...... He thought what an honour for a first assignment.

Elron sat in Ship's Lounge, gazing out the large observation windows. The Ship's Lounge on a Sovereign-class vessel is large and spread across two levels, on decks 8 and 9, at the rear of the ship. Elron had always enjoyed the Black Tulip's lounge because of the informal atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. They had a large bar area that served almost any form of food or drink you could desire, including as a wide selection of synthoholic and alcoholic beverages. Not all of the items available were freshly prepared - that would have required far too much storage space - but the quality of the Tulip's replicators was such that you couldn't normally tell the difference. Elron was relaxing on the lower level of the Lounge with a small glass of Aldebaran whiskey and a light snack. He had changed out of his uniform after his duty shift on the bridge had finished at 1800 hours, and it was now 1930. He nodded and smiled to many of the officers who passed by his table, some of whom he was familiar with. He sat alone at the table, though, and gazed at the swirling vortex that streamed behind the ship. The Admiral had long since ordered the switch to slipstream drive, and many officers had gathered at this part of the ship throughout the day to witness the novelty spectacle. There was certainly something relaxing about it; something that caused you to forget all your worries and simply drift off… Thus, as Elron gazed out the windows, he didn't notice Bema Saberwyn approach. "Admiral?" said the CNO in an attempt to get Elron's attention. Bema's shift had also finished and he was in casual clothes too. "Ah, Bema," Elron replied, snapping out of his daydream. "You know you don't need to be formal with me here," he smiled, gesturing around the lounge. "Please, join me. There's something I was hoping to discuss with you."Bema sat down, caught the attention of a server and ordered a drink. "What was it you wanted to talk about, Elron?""Well, before we assigned quarters to the new crewmembers I was able to put in a request for a family apartment on your behalf. We've set aside a suite on deck 4 for you if you want it. There should be plenty of space there for you, Kate and the little one. It's in a nice quiet part of the ship. Of course, you'll want to talk to Kate about this first." [TAG: Bema] OFF: Anyone who wants to join us after their shift please do! Bema can back post if he wants to organise the Navigation Dept

CMDRfc Disasterman was sitting in his quarters going over reports that he was behind on when a call from sickbay came in.
"Nurse Ripa to Commander Disasterman"
"Commander Disasterman here, how can I help you?"
"Well Commander, I require your assistance here in sickbay. Something seems to be wrong with Holli ever since we entered slipstream."
"Well we can't have that now can we. She has to serve as our CMO for the time being. I will be right down."
Disasterman threw on an old work uniform that he had used many times when he worked on the holographic system due to the dirty workspace that he knew that he might have to go in. Upon entering sickbay the Commander knew what the problem with Holli was almost immediately. There standing near one of the biobeds was Holli, all blurred and streaky. The Commander felt sorry for her when he saw the upset look on her face. He reassured her that the problem should be an easy fix.
"TTTTTTTThhhhhhhhaaaaaaaannnnnnkkkkkksssss," Holli said in a drawn out voice.
Disasterman thought to himself "Ok that may be a bigger problem than I thought."
The Commander set out to check a few things before pulling the panels off the wall. He adjusted a few emitters that had been knocked out of place when they did they original test run of the slipstream drive. Since Holli had not been activated in sickbay, this was never noticed. As for the speech problem, that was not fixed by the adjustment. Disasterman pulled the access panel off the wall and entered the crawlspace. He could have easily gone to the workstation in the holodecks, but this would be easier than running back and forth to test her program here.
After a couple hours in the cramped crawlspace, Disasterman came to the notion that the slipstream may be to blame. He came up with a small subroutine that would automatically activate when the ship was in slipstream. After exiting the crawlspace and stretching for a few minutes, Disasterman deactivated Holli and initialized the subroutine.
After a few seconds that seemed like hours, Holli reappeared as clear as a bell and said, "Please state the nature of the medical emergency." This frightened Disasterman because he knew that line had been taken out of her programming. Starting to turn back to the crawlspace he noticed a smirk starting to form on Holli's face. At that moment he knew she had just pulled her first official prank. She ran over and hugged the Commander and thanked him for fixing her. The Commander told her that they had not thought about the emitters when the Tulip came to such an abrupt halt or that the possibility that the slipstream would affect her in such a way. After closing the panel, the Commander told Holli that all should be good and to call him if anything else goes wrong.
The Commander went into the CMO's office and grabbed Holli's mobile emitter. "I need to check this to make sure that everything will be ok with it if you ever need to use it while we are in slipstream. There shouldn't be anything wrong with it, but it won't hurt to check. I'll bring it to the holodeck later tonight if you will meet me for that dinner that I owe you."
Holli was thrilled to be able to go have dinner, even tho she doesn't actually eat. Later that night the two met on the holodeck where Disasterman gave the emitter back to Holli after dinner was over. Attaching it to her arm, the two stepped out into the corridor to check the emitter.
"I didn't see anything wrong with the emitter and it should work just fine."
Holli thanked Disasterman again and ran off to sickbay. Disasterman walked back to his quarters by himself thinking back about the day he had. He snapped back to reality when he entered his quarters and saw the PADDs still on the desk where he left them. "Well back to work we go.".

Damion's shift finished at 1800 but it was now 1820.
He had left the bridge and headed down to the brig. Walking into the room the guard already had his hand on his phaser as the door opened. Damion was pleased that his team was so cautious considering they were holding a man who wont tell us anything about himself or how he broke our security for so long.
He nodded to the Crewman.
Has he eaten? Aye sir.
Damion walked to wards the energy field and it disappeared , as he stepped through the Crewman pressed the console and it re-initiated.
Hows the food? you never tried it?
Cant say i have , wanna talk now? Not really , but i guess it can pass the time , what do you want to know
How did you get here?
got lucky How did you gain access to this ship I told you i got lucky
Damion turned his back and walked out , as the beam flashed back into life he headed to wards the door.
If he talks call me. If he doesn't then he gos hungry.
Damion jhukat was making a show of this. He didn't mean what he had said and knew it would never happen upon a federation starship but hoped it would loosen the mans tongue.
................................................................
He headed to his quaters for a shower then changed into a fresh uniform and headed towards the lounge.
Walking in at about 1940 he saw The Admiral talking to another officer on one of the tables with the best views of the slipstream drive.
He headed towards the bar and ordered a tray of chinese tea and headed towards the officers.
Do you mind if i join you sir's? He asked hoping to get to know them better
Please do , Damion , and my name is elron when were off duty. Thank you sir , i mean Elron. I was hoping we could discuss the prison , i know he is not a key concern and were just taking him home , but i was wondering who would be responsible for handing him over? <Tag Elron and Bema>

Elron smiled as Damion approached. Not everyone was comfortable socialising with their CO - some people had problems trying to maintain the distinction between a professional and personal relationship in this way - but Elron had never found any problems with his crew. In response to Damion's question, Elron answered "Well, I would like you to be in charge of handling the prisoner and his safety. You'll be in charge of security, but given the ease with which he boarded the Tulip I'll probably ask J'Ka to join us.""Us, sir... I mean Elron?""Because of the remoteness of this colony and the relative political importance of the transfer, it would be best if I was nominally the head of the delegation. I'll therefore be accompanying you down as well.""I see."Elron took another swig from his glass. "I hope we're not just going to talk about work tonight though," he smiled jokingly. The three officers continued to spend the rest of the evening in the Lounge and got to know each other a little better. The next morning, Admiral Elron woke before his alarm could go off. He was fully awake and eager to get back on the bridge, but not so eager as to rush his breakfast. He ordered a bowl of hot lembas from the replicator and poured himself a glass of fresh cranberry juice. As began to eat, the computer automatically started to play some Avari classical music. Elron had never liked waking to the sound of beeping, nor to the computer telling him to get up. He much preferred waking to the sound of music. He would select the next morning's choice of music each night, based largely on how difficult he expected it to be for him wake. If he thought he might be especially tired, he would choose a loud and energetic song. Last night, he had opted for gentle but optimistic piece that he particularly enjoyed. Elron hummed as he ate, and poured himself another glass of cranberry juice. Eventually though, it was time for him to leave for his shift in the centre seat. He dressed in just a few minutes - he'd perfected a routine that took the minimum amount of time - placed his dishes back in the replicator and left his quarters at 7:55am on the dot. Since the Commanding Officer's quarters were located on deck 3, it didn't take him long to reach the bridge. He liked having a few spare minutes to chat to the senior officers or read any reports waiting for him from the Night Watchman. The night had apparently passed uneventfully and all the officers were on time for their shift. "What's our ETA, Cmdr Saberwyn?" asked Elron as he sank into his chair. Bema tapped his console a few times. "We'll arrive at the Bellatrix system in 2 hours and 6 minutes."Elron settled himself into his seat and nodded slowly. "Any problems with the Quantum Drive?" he asked. "Power levels are consistent, phase variances are within acceptable tolerance, the slipstream has been perfectly stable," responded Col Burgess. "Good, good… I guess I'll just have to wait 'til we arrive then. Lt Jhukat, please make sure all arrangements have been made for the transfer of the prisoner. Lt J'Ka and I will be accompanying you and the security detail down to the planet. Disasterman will remain in command of the ship while we're gone.""Aye, sir. I'll take care of it right away," the CTSO answered quickly. Time inevitably passed, though Elron wasn't entirely sure where it had gone, and they arrived exactly when Bema had predicted. "Reverse drive polarity and reduce field strength to 50%," ordered Elron. Gary and Bema, side by side, worked their consoles in harmony as they performed the operations necessary to drop the ship safely out of slipstream. "Contact the local authorities and let them know we're ready to hand over the convict. Cmdr," he said turning to his new First Officer, "you have the bridge, and the ship."Moments later, Elron was on the transporter pad with Damion, the intruder and the rest of the security detail, ready to beam down to the surface of Bellatrix IX. OFF: If anyone wants to fill in any of the blanks here or elaborate further, then feel free. The next step will be to find an inhabited planet in uncharted space, so if anyone left on the ship feels like coming across some information that hints at its existence then you could set up that stage of the mission now. Try to keep things vague though as I have particular features in mind for this world. Alternatively you can continue to prepare your departments and interact with your staff and colleagues. It's all up to you - just thought I'd offer a few suggestions to begin with

Flywheel was on the bridge when the Admiral and his security team were ready to transport. Flywheel was nervous as he whenever an away mission left, in the good old Romulan days he had always felt nervous on away missions, as junior staff were just left if injured and security and safety protocol were not the highest points on agendas.
As he sat and the very comfortable science console he had noticed the major differences as it was different from the older, but equally curious USS Hepta, the Black Tulips unusual engine was very interesting and Flywheel intended to find out more about it. So he had set about finding the original logs and details from when the engines were actually constructed and tested, they made for interesting if slightly complex reading.
As he saw the scanners continually scanning the area around the Admiral and they would continue to do so as long as the Admiral was away, this was s personal scanner, so he could be transported out if needed but also so that everything was known, it was like a portable camera so the bridge could see what he actually saw, it was a complex device and Flywheel hadn't told the Admiral about it, it was a test, he gulped and wishes he had informed the Admiral beforehand.
As he continued to look around the bridge seemed a very relaxed place even though it was missing the officer with the gold braid.
Flywheel: Deputy chief science officer please report the bridge.
Within minutes a man Flywheel hadn't met entered, he was a Lt Junior Grade and Flywheel had heard she was not a happy women after being overtaken for the post, Flywheel was a tad relived he had been promoted it meant he wasn't on the same rung and at least had that to work with.
Cloak: Lt Cloak reporting for duty as ordered sir.
Flywheel: Excellent, please sit down here and keep close tabs on the Admiral and if you could would you join me for a meal this evening.
Cloak: I am afraid i am rather bus....
Flywheel: OK let me rephrase that, you will join me for a meal this evening.
Cloak: I object sir, in my free time you cannot order such a thing.
Flywheel: Good point, lets make it within your shift so that you cannot object, that would than be very official and quite in order would it not?
Cloak: Well, i still dont think....
Flywheel: An order Lt and order, now please get back to the station, i will let you know of the time later.
Flywheel wanted to make sure he had a team that could work together and she was just the type who could disrupt everything he had worked for or at least was planning to work for.
LATER:
After some time Lt Flywheel had organised his meeting with Lt Cloak, he had set up a nice meal in his quarters but made sure it looked very buisness like.

Flywheel sat down with his deputy, she looked uncomfortable, in fact she looked so uncomfortable Flywheel thought they should avoid any even more uncomfortable silences, in that vain he directed his attention to-wards a beverage.
Flywheel: What would you like to drink Lt?
Cloak: Water please sir.
Flywheel: Water?
Cloak: Yes i don't think i should delve into an exotic drink while still on duty.
Flywheel: By the time we have finished this meal you will no longer be on duty will you.
Cloak: That is true.
Flywheel: So why don't we make a pact, we wont have a main drinks now but wait until the end when you can have your exotic drink.
For the first time since Flywheel had met his deputy she laughed and what a laugh, she did a very good job of hiding her very delicate side.
Cloak: Sounds perfectly reasonable to me sir.
Flywheel: Brilliant...... now for the first course I have prepared a delicacy but separate from my own....
Cloak: Why separate?
Flywheel: I am part of the rare breed of Romulans that happens also to be a herbivore.
Cloak: Herbivore...... oh you mean vegetarian.
Flywheel: Yes i must mean that....so for you, we have a roasted shukare bear......
Cloak: I don't know how to mention this but i ma a vegetarian to.....
Flywheel: Oh.
Cloak: At least that will make your planning easier for future meals.
Flywheel had broken into the gates, not quite like the Ancient human Greeks, but straight on, and he had found she would attend future meals without such resistance.
Flywheel: Indeed it will, well lets run through that again, we will have grilled marrow (human) colati marrow (Cardassian) and a selection of vegetables i am sure you are acquainted with.
Cloak: Sounds excellent.

OOC: sorry bout long gap.. mum in hospital , long story...
IC:
Damion was already waiting in the brig by the time his orders to prepare the prisoner for the handover had been issued.
=A= aye sir , package will be ready in transporter room 2 in 3 minutes =A=
"Were here? were at Bellatrix already? that cant be"
Damion set his phaser to stun and ordered the force Field to be lowered , then the two security officers walked behind them as The CT SO and intruder headed for the transporter room.
"Anything you wanna tell me before we hand you over to your people , like what you were doing on my ship"
He had only just got their himself but felt comfortable referring to the black tulip as his own.
But his question was met by an arrogant silence.
"Very well , i guess we will have to part ways soon then"
They entered the transporter room and set the intruder onto the pad , then the admiral entered and the team saluted.
"Are you prepared Lt.Jhukat?" "Aye Sir"
The away team took their positions on the pad and prepared for transport.
"Energize"
...........................................................................
Beaming down to the designated co-ordinates the away team were met by a team of men in matching uniforms armed with what seemed to be small projectile weapons.
"I am Admiral Elron of The united Federation of planets , and this is my Chief of security Damion Jhukat , i am here to offer this fugitive to be returned to you as an act of peace between our people"
"I am Ghunn trebl , first corporal of the Bellatrix independent justice corporation , and i welcome you to our world"
"The man you have in custody is not unfamiliar to our organization , he is wanted for terrorism and attempted treason as part of an Independence militia known as ko ' rui , they are widespread in this system" While the diplomats discussed greetings the new CT SO watched the intruder being taken away from his men by the others.
Just as they were about to load him into a small vehicle the intruder turned and managed to take a weapon from the side of one of the bellatrix guards , he turned and fired to wards the Corporal.
As he turned Damion assessed his obvious target and suddenly realized , this was all a set up , he knew he would be brought here by the federation , he knew they would meet with trebl when we got here , this was all a set up to assassinate a high ranking Military diplomat on his own world , thats why he was so surprised we had arrived so soon , he knew nothing about our engine speeds , he chose the black tulip at random.
Damion stepped in front of the Corporal as two small metal bolts left the weapon to wards him , he pressed the button on his arm and a shield was instantly in place, dissolving the missiles with a crackling flash.
By the time the shield failed , the man was dead. Killed by the poisonous projectiles that heat the blood fired by the other security officers.
Damion watched him fall to the floor and the blood role bubbling down the side of his face.
Everything seemed to slow down as he fell , the only sound as he hit the ground was that of an alarm going off 30 yards away to suggest weapons fire.

OFF: No probs about the delay, Damion. It looks like not many other people have posted either. Great post though Damion. Good work Wolf as well - nice character development I hope you don't mind but i'm gonna move things along a bit since we haven't posted as much as I thought we might have.ON: Elron was barely aware of what was happening, as Lt Jhukat leapt in front of the first corporal of Bellatrix. The Starfleet CTSO was the first to react, but the First Corporal's own security detail were quick to respond. The fugitive didn't even live to see his projectiles deflected by Damion's well-placed shield; he was dead before he hit the ground. Alarms were triggered and even more security personnel poured out of a building nearby. It was pandamoniom for several minutes while the First Corporal was escorted inside. The Black Tulip's own security were trying to evacuate the Admiral - standard procedure in this situation - but he wasn't having any of it. He was determined to stay and see things through, since it seemed the prisoner was working alone and there was no further danger. They had several formailities to deal with after that disasterous prisoner transfer, including a lot of paperwork that would have to be done later, but thankfully no side blamed the other and diplomatic relations were not damaged. If anything, Damion's instinctive reaction to protect the First Corporal had helped to improve Bellatrix's esteem for the Federation. "You and your crew are welcom to return at any time, and you will be greeted warmly and offered whatever supplies or sevices you may require," said the Corporal to Elron, in gratitude for their help. "That is much appreciated Corporal trebl," replied the Admiral. "In return we will offer whatever assistance we can to you and your in the future."Once things had been brought to a friendly conclusion, the Tulip's team returned to the ship and returned to their usual duties. "Are you alright, sir?" asked Cmdr Disasterman as Elron stepped out of the turbolift on the bridge. They had observed everything through the experimental personal scanner trialled by Wolf. "Yes, of course. Mission accomplished... after a fashion."Damion gave DM a reassuring nod to indicate that everything was indeed fine. "Come on then... let's not hang around all day. Where to next?" said Elron taking the command chair from Disasterman. "Well sir... I've been monitoring the surrounding space and there's a star system I'm most interested in. It has a planetary system that complies with known conditions for sentient life, including a possible M-class world. It's hard to tell at this great a distance but I thought it might be worth checking out?" suggested the CScO. "Excellent thinking!" exclaimed Elron. "That's exactly why we're out here. Send the co-ordinates to the conn so that Bema can set course!"

"Admiral, M-class planet registering ahead on sensors. The system is composed of seven planetary bodies: three gas giants and four rocky inner worlds. There's also a large asteroid belt between the fifth and sixth worlds," reported Wolf from Science I. As a former Science Office, Elron had a keen interest in astronomy. He pulled up the scientific details on his chair panel. It was pretty similar to the majority of inhabited stellar systems - three class-J, two class-N, a class-A and a class-M planet. Things looked positive so far. "Mr Saberwyn, once we get to the edge of the system, drop out of slipstream and continue at warp 5." "Aye, sir."
As they got nearer to the M-class planet, they were able to take more detailed readings. "There are definitely strong life signs," said Wolf. "Any signs of civilisation or interstellar activity nearby?" the CO asked. "No warp trails or spacecraft for many light-years," Damion replied. Wolf's hands moved continuously across the large science console. "I'm not reading any significant artificial power sources nearby either. We might need to be in visual range before I can detect signs of civilisation, but they're almost certainly not as advanced as us." "I'd concur with that," nodded Damion. "Very well… Bema, take us closer to the planet but make sure to hide us behind the other planets as much as possible. There may not be any advanced peoples on that planet, but they could still have the ability to observe us accidentally."
As Bema piloted them through a complicated course at relatively low speed, the Tulip's sensors made passive scans of the M-class world. "I'm detecting signs of wide-spread civilisation, mostly in the southern hemisphere. It seems to be concentrated into small groupings, though," announced the CScO. "Can we get a better idea of how advanced they are, please?" ordered Disasterman. Elron smiled. He was settling into the First Officer role well. "There don't seem to be any radio communications," said Gary from the Ops console. "Based on what I've seen, I'd estimate they're at the start of an industrial revolution. They aren't producing a lot of pollutants yet, but the signs are there. I'd like to let the anthropology department review the data though, to give a more accurate opinion." "Go ahead, Lt Flywheel. Is it possible to take further readings from a secluded position?" "I can move us near the second moon. The light being reflected from it just now should help obscure us from sight, yet allow us to make observations from just behind it. I'll have to move us behind the first moon in 6 hours, though, to keep us out of sight," suggested Bema. "Good thinking, Cmdr. Make it so."

Damion was very excited by the idea of observing a pre-warp civilization.
"Admiral , I'm not detecting any signs of radio scanning and scans indicate a large area of land with very low civilization and low technical advances , it may be possible to take a shuttle down with a small away party to get a closer look"
There was a moment of silence from the Captains chair.
"I could volunteer to pilot myself sir , I would be keen to get back in the driving seat again" Damion wondered how much of his personnel report the admiral and dissasterman had read , that explained how much experience he had piloting both military and racing shuttles..

Once Flywheel was back on the bridge and the mission had got to a head at a remarkably quick level, he was sitting in his now usual position, with a junior science officer ready to second for him or to assist with any detailed requests.
Flywheel had been given an order to scan thew civilization through the interference and the conn was moving the ship in closer so that he could make an detailed scan.
Flywheel: Tactical fire a mark 3 torpedo but make it explode at the co-ordinates i am sending you.
Officer: But sir wont that impact on the planets visual field.
Flywheel: Yes but only as a slight burst which as they currently have a slight storm will appear to be a far away flash of lightning, now fire.
Officer: Firing sir...
Flywheel: Now, ready science as soon as that explodes we will have a clear view of the entire area of the civilization, i want you to scan it at that second with every sensor array.
Officer: It is about to explode sir....... detonated
The information started to come through and Flywheel had it rerouted to all consoles that needed it and it was already commented ands sent to the relevant sub departments of science for cleaning up and study.
As Flywheel looked through the documentation and information he could see the very conservative pattern of the civilization, it was not very revolutionary and quite normal for its stage of development, in fact Flywheel began to think it was to regular, no unusual points except that it was to average,Flywheel told the senior staff this small if unusual detail.

"I think we should take more detailed observations before we even consider any landing parties. And even then, I'd advise against such a mission. The Prime Directive is Starfleet's most sacred General Order, and the best way to avoid causing disruptions is to just keep your distance. Let's give Wolf's team a chance to gather more data," said Elron firmly. As the data started to arrive at the primary science console on the bridge, Wolf was surprised by how basic and unremarkable most of the civilisation appeared. There didn't seem to be anything particularly unique at first glance. After a while though, the high-resolution radiation scan came across something unusual and Wolf's console started to bleep. "Umm… Admiral…" said Flywheel after he'd reviewed the high-resolution data of the planet below. "What is it, Lieutenant?""We're reading many small power-sources that shouldn't be there.""How small? Are these natural phenomena or some kind of local technology?""By rights it shouldn't be either. The energy emissions seem nucleonic in origin, and I'm detecting trace numbers of Omicron particles.""What?! Where are you getting these readings?"Wolf put a surface shot of part of the planet's southern hemisphere up on the viewer, then overlaid the locations of the energy sources. "So far we've found at least 27 individual power-sources, each of them extremely small but there none-the-less.""There's no way nucleonic radiation could be released like that naturally," said a confused Elron. "Aren't Omicron particles only created by certain types of matter/antimatter reactions?" asked Disasterman. "They can also be used to produce antimatter…" added Elron. "Are you sure they're not more advanced than we first thought?""They don't even have electricity in general use. There's no way they could have the technology to create this themselves."Elron sat in silence as he considered their position. The Prime Directive could not be violated under any circumstances. General Order 1 even stipulated that any Starfleet vessel or crewmember is expendable to prevent violation of this rule. But the presence of this radiation indicated that something had already gone awry in the natural development of this society. Nucleonic radiation could have adverse affects on living tissue and even be fatal in large doses. It was present in many Federation technologies, such as the replicator, but they knew how to control and contain it. The inhabitants of this planet weren't likely to be as knowledgeable. If the radiation were the result of the inhabitants' own doing then Elron would have to leave them to sort it out themselves, even if it resulted in the extinction of the species. If, however, the technology was the result of alien interference then surely the Prime Directive no longer applied in quite the same way. All the best Captains in Starfleet's history had known that even the Prime Directive required a certain amount of interpretation, though admittedly Starfleet Command hadn't always appreciated it. It was a fine line between bravery and recklessness. Admiral Elron found himself faced with a difficult decision. The rest of the bridge crew remained silent as they waited to hear Elron's next order. "Lt Flywheel, I want you to launch a Class VII probe into a geo-stationary orbit of the planet. I want to know as much as possible about this culture, including enough physical data for Holi to knock up a surgical alteration procedure.""Aye, sir - preparing Remote Culture-Study Probe," responded Wolf dutifully. "Does this mean…?" began Disasterman. "Yes," interrupted Elron, "we might be making a visit to the planet after all. You may want to brief Holi so that she has time to prepare."[OFF]: Everyone is free to choose whether to join the away team or not, but I'll need a couple of people to hang around on the ship in case we run into trouble. If he agrees, Disasterman will be leading the team while I remain on the ship (I am a flag officer after all ). If we take a shuttle down then Bema should get first dibs on piloting the shuttle, but if he'd prefer to remain on the ship then Damion can take over.

"Yes," interrupted Elron, "we might be making a visit to the planet after all. You may want to brief Holi so that she has time to prepare." "Aye, sir. Disasterman to Holi[", said Disasterman. "Yes, Commander. How can I be of assistance?", came the reply from the EMH program. "We are launching a Class VII probe to study the civilization on the planet below. I will need you to interface with the data that we collect to prepare to alter the away team so we can blend in. "Probe launched," said Lt Flywheel as he launched the probe. "The data should start coming in any moment, so please prepare yourself for at least 3 members of the crew, including myself." "Aye, Commander. Receiving preliminary data now. Will let you know when I have received enough data to do the alterations." "Thanks Holi." the Commander said as he tapped the panel to close communication. The Commander turned to look at the screen some more and waited for the call from Holi to say she was ready. He knew they were going to do some cross country travel once they did go down, but he didn't want to have to travel to far. The Commander pulled up the planet on the chair's panel so he could look at a closer scan to determine the best place to land so they could check out the most places and cover the least amount of territory, plus stay within a reasonable distance to the shuttle in case they had to get out quickly.

"Sir , i feel i should be part of the away team , security will be an important issue when were on the surface and i have inteligence gathering experiance"
Damion was the first person to make a request to Dissasterman to be taken on this away mission and hoped he would be granted.
He had a good grasp of the prime directive and knew how important it would be to be able to intigrate themselves into this new society for a short period of time , so that if they did get noticed they could pass as reguler people.
He had checked his phaser and attached it to his uniform before his shift began , feeling that a weapon should be worn by the CTSO.
He waited patiently for the answear , standing by the security panel with his releif officer behind him.

"I agree, Damion, security will be necessary. Get another member of your team and head down to the clothing replicator and get a set of clothes from the program Beta Sigma. After that check with me and see if Holi is ready for the cosmetic surgeries. She should have enough data soon. See you in a little while."
"Aye, Commander" Damion said as he nodded his head to the relief Security Officer. He then headed to the turbolift to get the clothes that would be part of their disguises. As the doors to the lift closed, he called one of his team to meet him at the clothing replicator.
Commander Disasterman looked around the bridge at the other men waiting to see who else might volunteer for the away mission.

The away mission was set in motion and the newish Security Officer was preparing to travel to the planet via shuttle craft with the older and more experienced of the team, Flywheel was staying aboard, for the first time with the Admiral, the bridge staff would be quite limited as the Admiral was a flag officer but not only a flag officer, but a senior flag officer and not only a senior flag officer but a fleet commander and yet again not only a fleet commander but the 2nd officer of a section and finally in the run of positions and accolades not only a 2nd officer of the section but a man of repute and a man with reputation.
Flywheel: < Science department be ready as we may have to do some delving if this missions goes ary.
Cloak: <Don't worry sir, we are all set up and all departments are in voice communication and they can all communicate with you and I via the consoles and regulated voice link, which of course will only be used in emergency's.>
Flywheel: <Thank you, very well organized, we may have to make this a permanent feature easy communication between departments, please remind me at the next departmental meeting.>
Cloak: < Of course sir, Cloak out>
Flywheel was ready, prepared for any event that would impact upon the great ship and her young shuttle, as it ventured forth alone and against unknwon dangers.

[OFF:] I think we've waited long enough for volunteers to sort themselves out, so I'm gonna keep things moving along. If you go too long without posting, you're inadvertently giving me license to use you like a NPC and so I'm choosing the rest of the away team. The physical appearance of this new humanoid species is not important, so you can describe their features however you like if you're going to post about the surgical makeover procedure.[ON:] Elron sat in his ready room reading through the crew personnel records. Selection of an appropriate away team was crucial to this mission, since it was vital no cultural contamination occurred accidentally as a result of their presence. Disasterman would lead the team, of course, as First Officer of the ship and an officer of vast experience. Lt Jhukat had eagerly volunteered to join the team since he felt a security presence would be important. Reading his Starfleet record, Elron saw that Damion also had other abilities that qualified him for the mission, such as a strong background in science and piloting. It would also be important, thought the Admiral, for them to take an anthropologist from the Science department, preferably an expert in Level III pre-warp cultures. Lt JG Kenneth Walker's record showed him to be the best man for the job. It would be dangerous to make the away team too large, so just one more member should suffice. Scanning the manifest, Elron found the perfect man. Ops Manager Colonel Burgess had Starfleet Marine training, but as an Operations Officer was also well-suited to locating and analysing the mysterious technology they had detected. In order to help Holli customise her procedure even further, Elron decided to contact her immediately and let her know who she would be working on. "Elron to Sickbay," he said, tapping his comm badge. =/\= Go ahead Elron =/\= came the cheery reply of the EMH. She was the only 'person' on the ship who referred to the Admiral by name whilst on duty. The standard Starfleet EMH would never be programmed to do such a thing, but Holli was far from standard and Elron found her informal nature very refreshing. She was the only he would let away with it though. "I thought you might find it helpful to know who you're working on. Disasterman you know, but I'm also sending Damion Jhukat, Gary Burgess and Kenneth Walker down with him."=/\= Well that makes my life a lot easier, thank you. I should be able to use the same procedure on each of them, so I won't have any problems with that team. Of course, that Executive Officer of yours is always a handful. =/\= She giggled a little after she said this. Elron knew she relished the challenge. "There's no rush, but we're going to have to change orbit in about 5 hours so it would be nice if they could be down on the planet before then."=/\= Oh that should be no problem. You'll have to send them down here right away though so I can begin the prep work. =/\=Elron smiled. "I'll send them down right away!" Elron was thrilled by the fact that he wasn't going to be the one sitting in sickbay for several hours having constructive surgery done on his face and body. He didn't even like a standard physical exam! On the other hand, the away team would have the opportunity to actually move amongst a brand new culture, a new civilisation. That was what Starfleet was all about, and he was sure it was worth the effort they were going to. Despite the surgery, he did envy them that. Perhaps more than he was willing to admit even to himself. So out of his senior bridge staff, Disasterman, Damion and Gary were going to be on the planet, while Wolf and Bema remained with him on the ship. It was a good arrangement. Wolf could keep a close eye on the away team and use the Tulip's advanced sensor pallets to relay whatever information they required. And if anything did go wrong, Elron wanted his best man at the conn. Under the circumstances - in orbit of an inhabited world with two natural satellites, invisibility of utmost importance and a quantum slipstream drive at their command - Elron wanted their most experienced and talented helmsman in control. Four hours later, Holli had finished her work (or as she liked to call it, her 'art') and the barely recognisable away team were standing in Shuttle Bay 2, waiting to board a type-8 personnel shuttle. Damion had already picked out a suitable landing spot for them, and Wolf and Bema had come up with a safe trajectory that would allow them to land unseen by any of the colonies. Elron sat on the bridge and waited. =/\= Disasterman to Bridge, we're ready to depart. =/\="Alright, Cmdr. You have clearance to leave at your earliest convenience. Please stick to your programmed heading and keep us informed of your progress. Once you arrive I want regular status reports from you, any data you gather on the native peoples should be sent straight to Lt Flywheel and keep an eye out for any out-of-place technology that shouldn't be there," responded Elron. =/\= Acknowledged, Bridge. Wish us luck! =/\=With that, they boarded the shuttle. Elron sat alone in the centre of the bridge, the other two command chairs empty, and watched their progress on the view screen.
