--The next day-- Luckily Sam became a master of disguise, his work at SFI and as a doctor came in handy. Sam walked to wards the info booth --Guided tours through the Klingon great hall-- "I'd like to sign up for the guided tour." Sam told the Klingon behind the booth. "Then you are lucky Sir. There is one place available and the tour is about to start." The Klingon said. "Then I'll take the tour." Sam said and payed the entrance fee.
--During the tour-- Sam was looking for places to place his bomb. There were several good spots. "We're now looking at the statue of Kahless. Kahless was the first emperor of the Klingon's, he is the one who founded our believes of Honor." The guide told the group "Behind this door is the seat of the Klingon high council. They are currently in session with the Romulan ambassador Miro the discuss the problems between the Romulan and Klingon empires. Maybe when we've finished our tour they will be in recess and we can look at the inside." "I hope so." Sam said out aloud "It would be great to see it." **And to place a bomb** Sam thought after it.
--At the end of the tour-- "People we're lucky. The high council is in recess and we can go in." The guide told the group and the group entered.
OFF: I'm still gonna kill ambassador Miro

KezTrek winced as she came around, the pain was minimal and more than bearable but it was still unpleasant.
"Easy Admiral," Buster told her, a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm fine Doctor." KezTrek sat up, swinging her legs off the bed.
"You had second degree burns. Fine, I feel is a relative term where you are concerned." Buster said.
KezTrek glared at him. "Are you going to let me leave doctor, or am I going to have to knock you unconscious and leave without permission?"
Buster looked at her with something akin to disbelief.
"I suppose I have no choice but to release you then." He replied, obviously not amused.
"Excellent. How many other injuries do we have?"
"Not many thankfully. Thirteen, Crewman Harper, a few other bumps and scraps. Ensign Cassidy just delivered a baby girl." Buster informed her.
"Keep me posted on their conditions, I'm going to the bridge." KezTrek told him, pausing to cast a glance over the few other patients before she left.

Luke was running out of ideas. The away team had reported in, they were fine and still searching for K'Vada. Luke had neglected to mention about the Klingon woman and the voice, he had decided that they really didn't have anything to do with this. It would wait for another time.
He paused as he saw a crowd gather. He rubbed his eyes and stiffled a yawn. It was dawn of the next day and Luke had been wandering around for what seemed like weeks.
He perked up however when he heard the Ambassadors name mentioned.
So a tour was going on and Ambassador Miro was in council behind that door. K'Vada had to be near.
Luke tailed the tour for an hour or so when the Klingon announced that they could return to the Council chambers as they were in recess. Luke couldn't see K'Vada when they entered the chambers but he was sure that K'Vada could see him. He did rather stick out in his Starfleet uniform. Luke motioned for a man of about his height to come over.
5 minutes later, Luke came out of a side room in completely different clothing. Beneath a musty brown jacket his comm badge lay and attached to the inside of his leg was his phaser. The man who Luke had traded clothes with walked out of the room also, looking quite pleased with himself that he had managed to acquire a Starfleet uniform. Luke made a mental note to get it back.
The tour had officially ended for the morning but the crowd was allowed to wander as they pleased until the council returned. Luke frowned as he pretended to examine a statue of Kahless, the place was filled with them, he wondered when K'Vada was going to strike. He felt so alone and isolated, as if all his training was useless and for the first time in his career he felt at a complete lost as to what to do next.
"I am afraid that you are all going to have to leave the chambers." Said the guff deep voice of a Klingon security official.
There were a few mumbles and groans but the crowd left slowly. Luke stayed back, scanning the room. He hadnt seen anything or anyone but Luke doubted that meant anything.
He approached the Klingon officer.
"Excuse me?" Luke said.
"What." Came the grunted reply.
"Cam you please inform me if Ambassador Miro is going to be here?"
"That is confidential business, on a need to know business." The Klingon replied.
"Well I need to know." Luke said showing the Klingon his comm badge.
"Starfleet has no jurisdiction here. This is about matters between the Klingons and Romulans. You have to leave."
Luke frowned. His father had given him a code, an Ambassadorial security code. Luke assumed that this Klingon was for Miro's security detail.
"4-5-4-9-2-5-1-9-4-8-3-4-2-6-3-2-6-7-2-9-5-3-5-3-7-9" Luke sounded off the long list of numbers, hoping he had got them in the right order.
The Klingon grunted. "Very well. Yes, Ambassador Miro will be in council here in the next five minutes. We are just carrying out last minute security sweeps."
This did not comfort Luke in the slightest, he didnt imagine that K'Vada would allow himself to get caught after all he had done to get this far.
"I need to get the Ambassador of this planet and onto a Starfleet vessel in orbit." Luke said.
"Not possible, the Ambassador stays here."
Luke frowned. "You don't understand. Her life is at great danger, she needs to be transported to my ship immediately."
"I cannot allow that, she is perfectly safe here. Now either move along or help with the security sweeps Starfleet."
Luke sighed, he would stay and watch over the Ambassador himself.
The council filed in after the security checks and Luke approached Miro.
"Ambassador, I am Commande Luke Dowding of the USS Tiger Shark. I must inform you that you are in great danger here, an attempt will be made on your life today."
The Ambassador looked directly at Luke. "I face deeath threats everyday Commander. The council will proceed as normal."
Luke did not argue but place his comm badge on the back of the Ambassador, she did not notice. If something happened then all Luke had to do was well 'Emergency Transport' and the Ambassador would be on the Tiger Shark in no time.
Luke stood by the side of the podium, his hand on his phaser. Waiting for K'Vada's move...

As Jeera got off the shuttle, she couldn't help but to admire what she saw around her. She had never been to this planet before, so she couldn't help but to be surprised. Unfortunately though, she knew that she didn't have the time to go sightseeing and had to focus on her mission.
After their first encounter with a Klingon woman and a small girl, she began suspicious and she began thinking about the phaser she had hidden in her pocket. She wanted to hold it, but she knew that it would look suspicious if they all went around carrying their weapons.
Inside, the team split up, so she went off with Danny and his marines. The building was very dark though and the next thing she knew, she had become seperated from the group. She swore at herself silently for being so careless and went off to find them, but just as she rounded the first corner, she found herself surrounded by several Romulan guards with their weapons trained on her. She gulped nervously as they approached and took her weapon and her comm badge.

KezTrek arrived on the bridge a few minutes later.
"Report." she ordered, waiting for the young Lt at tactical to respond.
"An away team went down to the surface Admiral, we haven't heard anything back from them yet." she responded quickly.
"Scan the surface, track their commbadge are any of them alone?" KezTrek asked.
"No, they all seem to be in populated areas."
"Can we hail the Klingon High Command?"
"No Admiral, engineering is working on it, but it's going to be a while."
"KezTrek to engineering. All other priorities are forfeit, I want Communications back, and I want them five minutes ago." KezTrek barked into her commbadge, shutting the channel before any response was forthcoming.
KezTrek paced forward, closer to the helm, looking down at the displays.
"Do we have thruster control?" she asked.
"Yes ma'am, navigational controls are all operational."
"Take us into the atmosphere." KezTrek ordered.
"Admiral?" the Ensign looked at her curiously.
"We want their attention, and we're going to get it. Take us into the atmosphere." KezTrek repeated.
The Ensign nodded, turning back to his console to do as he was ordered.
"Breaking orbit and entering upper atmosphere." he reported.
KezTrek felt the ship shudder a little, but she doubted anyone else did except maybe the pilot, it was barely noticable if you didn't know it was there.
"Entering lower atmosphere, there are two shuttles heading our way from the surface."
"Open the shuttle bay doors, lets give them a warm welcome." KezTrek said.
"They are paused of our port bow."
"Have we got tractor beam control?"
"Yes Admiral."
"Then pick up the shuttle closest to us and direct it too our shuttle bay." KezTrek ordered.
"Admiral that could be seen as hostile!" the Lt at tactical said.
"And if we don't and K'Vada kills the Ambassador... this *could* be seen as hostile, murdering an Ambassador on Klingon soil, even if it isn't a Klingon Ambassador *will* be seen as hostile. Tractor the shuttle." KezTrek ordered.
"Shuttle is almost at the bay doors. Both shuttles are charging weapons."
"Keep tractoring, I'll be in the shuttle bay." KezTrek said, leaving the bridge quickly.
She knew it was a risk, the first Klingon to step of that ship might well just shoot her, but right now they had no communications, and their away team was for all intense purposes stranded without aid.
She waited until the bay had pressurized before she entered, unarmed save for the mek'leth she'd retrieved from her quarters on the way down.
The Klingon who stepped from the shuttle was armed with a disruptor rifle.
KezTrek eyed him calmly, showing no outwards sign of emotion.
"What is the meaning of this?!" The Klingon asked his voice gruff, and loud.
"I offer apologies for the means, however our external communications are down. We have an away team on the surface, and a rouge Starfleet officer who is after Ambassador Miro. This was the only way to get your attention." KezTrek explained.
"That is impossible, the Ambassador is in the Council Chamber, it is heavily guarded.
"Don't make me laugh, you and I both know a child could get into the Council Chambers if he had the wits about him." KezTrek added a sneer to her voice.
"How dare you!" The Klingon growled.
"Because I've been in the Council Chambers many times. Now stop testing my patience, and use your communications system to alert the Council guards." KezTrek said, hand casually placed over her mek'leth. She knew if she drew it the Klingon would draw his own knife, he wouldn't fight her with a disruptor if all she carried was her knife, it would be dishonorable.
The Klingon seemed to give some consideration to this, and nodded. "Very well."
KezTrek followed him into the shuttle, her hand still on her mek'leth, there were two others in the shuttle, who both looked at her warily, but KezTrek met their gaze evenly, and they seemed to accept her presence.

Luke stood stock-still while the talks continued. Politics interested him very little so he concentrated on the surroundings and the Ambassador at all times.
He turned his attention to the Klingon guard who he had spoken with earlier. The Klingon's comm device had just gone off and Luke heard something about a Starfleet woman.
Still keeping his attention on the Ambassador, Luke walked over to the Klingon and listened to what was happening.
"What do you mean a threat?" The Klingon growled.
"A Starfleet vessel has just entered the upper atmosphere and brought our shuttles onboard. The Captain of this vessel claims that there is a threat on Ambassadors Miro's life." The response came.
"I have a Starfleet officer down here, also claiming the same thing."
"Who is down there?" Cam the Admiral's voice over the comm.
Luke's face lit up with relief as he spoke quietly into the comms device.
"It's Commander Dowding Admiral, I am in the council chambers. The Klingon Guards would not let me get the Ambassador off the planet, however I have placed my comm badge on Miro, you should be able to get a transporter lock."
"You did what?" The Klingon guard next to Luke said. Luke promptly ignored him.
<TAG Admiral KezTrek>
"Understood Admiral, I believe that K'Vada must be near by because this is the Ambassadors last council session before she leaves for the Tiger Shark. I think it is essential that we get the Ambassador out of here now."
<TAG Admiral KezTrek>
Luke was about to reply when he heard a whining noise. No-one else seemed to hear it apart from the Guard next to Luke.
"Admiral, I believe a bomb has been activated. I can hear a whining noise. The bomb is not visible but I don't think there is much time. As the Tiger Shark's transporters are out can you use the Klingon's shuttle?"
A Klingon voice replied over the comm. "I have one Romulan female and a Starfleet comm badge - same target.
"Energize, get her out of there!" The Admiral's voice said over the comm.
Luke turned to see the Ambassador disappear in a yellow swirling light and he saw the council chambers fall into chaos.
Luke and the Klingon guard ran to the podium and managed to yell over the rabble to quiet them.
"I am Commander Luke Dowding of the Federation vessel U.S.S. Tiger Shark. The Ambassador has been transported to safety as there is an immanent explosion. I need you all to leave these chambers as effectively and as fast as possible." Luke finished talking but no-one was moving. The whining was getting louder and Luke was sure they had less than 2 minutes left.
"MOVE!" He yelled, this had the desired effect as the council members began to run for the door. Luke approached the Klingon guard.
"Organize your teams. Get as many people out of this building and away from the surrounding area as you can. I don't know how big this is going to be."
The Klingon did not argue and left to carry out what Luke had told him to do.
Luke scanned the council chambers one last time, checking every corner. Just in case. He checked behind the last statue in the room and the whining stopped.
Luke swore loudly and made for the doors. Sweat pouring from his forehead and his heart pounding in his throat.
The bomb exploded in a bright array of colour and noise. The supports in the chambers gave way and the roof fell in...
There was only darkness...

Sam just walked out of the Klingon great hall when he saw a TS crew member walking in. **Just walk by and pretend nothing has happened. Just walk by** Sam thought but his telepathic ability told him the crew member recognized or was about to recognize him. There was only one option, Run. So Capt. K'Vada ran away. "Sir, Ma'am there is a suspicious person running away from the great hall. I believe it is Capt. K'Vada in disguise." The Crew member told Adm. Keztrek and Luke.

Well im bored Dontai thought. It must have ben what a couple of days that have gone by since he was lock in the cargo bay. He barely had mange to keep up with the recent events . The man he spoke whith just hour before did some crazy stunt, Luke Dowding jumped through the door way, the force field was shut off! It was alot to except in couple of hours, but before he new it . . . . . . it happend! "Ok Im going to release the field, maybe you could get that officer over there to give you a hand." Luke said pointing to an officer he had never seen before, he was wearing a Blue top."
"That is Ensign Dontai." Buster said. "He has just transferred here."
"Ensign Dontai! Over here!" Luke called. "Please assist the Doctor in getting these two patients to sickbay."
<TAG Dontai>
....... "What luke?"
"He said help me move Thirteen, to sickbay" relpied Buster. "o! Dontai took up Thirteen, feet, and buster took up Thirteen shoulders. "common big fella," Dontai muttered. It look's like im pulling your bacon out of the fire had feeling i would be saving some one's. It was a good 15 min walk to sick bay, and he was happy it was over. Now he had somthing to anoy Thirteen about in the future....
.....Later that day on the bridge's of the Tiger Shark.......
Dontai was happy to be out of that cramped cargobay. He now stood on the bridge's of the Tiger Shark, brandishing a phaser and a combadge that works, standing next to KezTrek as she barked order remaining perfectly still. Evidently she left, and he still stayed their motionless as all starfleet security officer were taught to do, While he waited further instruction........

J'Leera stood very quietly as the three Romulans guards came closer with their trained at her head. She had not expected to see them here, but she was not really surprised. After being in Starfleet for year, she had come to expect the unexpected. There was a popular saying back on her homeworld, expect the worse, but hope for the best, that way you won't be caught off guard in either events. Or at least, that's what everyone said.
"A Starfleet officer!" the nearest guard sneered. "What are doing here?" He went to strike her, when his officer grabbed his hand and jerked it back.
"Leave her alone!" he ordered. J'Leera let out a small sigh of relief. "The prisoner will be taken in for questioning and will not be harmed...yet," he smiled. "I find it very interesting that Starfleet has popped up at this moment. What interesting timing, especially when the plan seems to be moving along so smoothly," he looked down at her. He was nearly half a meter taller than she was, so he towered over her. She did not reply.
"Very well," he sighed. "If you won't answer..." he trailed off, thinking of something. Suddenly he signaled to the guards and they took her to a small communications room not far from the main hall.
They sat her down in a chair and the Romulan officer went over to the comm. unit. "Let's see why you're really here," he said and began working.
Moments later an urgent message came in for him that made him curse uncontrollably. The Ambassador? J'Leera wondered. She knew that Luke wanted to get her out, so she hoped that he had succeeded in doing that. As the Romulan approached, she held her breath seeing the anger on his face. She knew that her suspicions must be true now, but what was she going to do now?
Seconds crept by and still he did not act. She began to grow anxious, but still the Romulan did not act. "Leave," he suddenly said to the guards and they obeyed. "Now, I have some ways to make you talk and no, I don't mean torture, at least not to you." He walked over to a viewscreen and pulled up an image. Her eyes widened when she saw that it was the USS Tiger.
"Your ship," he stated. "Perhaps you're wondering where this image is coming from. Well, I'll tell you. You see, at this moment there is a Romulan Warbird sitting a mere 500 kilometers from your ship. If you do not tell me why Starfleet is so interested in the Ambassador, then I will have your ship destroyed. It's your choice," he smiled.
J'Leera stared at the ship and suddenly an intense feeling of anger overcame her. How dare he presume that he can destroy the Tiger Shark! How dare he? She remembered when her counterpart from the Mirror Universe had held her hostage and other incidents where she was in danger. She had always been afraid and terrified to do anything, but this time was different. This time the enemy was messing with her friends, her family and she wasn't about to let that happen.
The Romulan barely knew what hit him. The moment he turned his back, J'Leera jumped up and activated the forcefield in the door frame and grabbed her tricorder off the table.
One minute he was making a minor change to the viewscreen's image and the next he was lying on the floor dead. As she hit him with the tricorder momentarily stunning him, he managed to get a shot off from his phaser. But instead of hitting J'Leera, the shot reflected off the forcefield and hit the Romulan directly in the back. He crumpled to the floor dead. She had taken a big risk by activating the force field, but it had worked so she wasn't going to complain.
J'Leera stepped over him and deactivated the forcefield after retrieving his weapon. Now she had to find her teammates, wherever they were.

Luke came abruptly back to consciousness. He thought that he had opened his eyes but he could see nothing. He tried to move but the combined efforts of the pain and the crushing weight of the ceiling of the chambers prevented him from doing so.
He moved his left arm and heard a resounding crack, pain flooded his body...
He tried desperately not to pass out...
The darkness came...

As J'Leera began to run down the darkened corridor, she was suddenly thrown to the ground as a violent blast ripped through the wall up ahead causing the entire building to shake. She immediately rolled over to the wall and put her arms over her head in hopes of blocking any material that might fall on her.
As quickly it had begun, it ceased. She waited a while, but then slowly stood up surveying the damage. The air was choked with dust and debris lay everywhere ranging from small pieces of plaster to large chunks of twisted metal. Whatever happened, it was a very strong blast. She began to walk down the corridor careful to keep alert for anyone who might be trapped in the rubble.
She wiped the dust from her face and checked her 'borrowed' Romulan phaser. It seemed to be in working order, so she continued. Unfortunately her communicator was non-functional, so she could not call the ship. One of the guards had found it amusing to see how small he could crush it with an industrial compressor, so all that remained was a flat disk and now there was no power to use any communications consoles.
As she continued to search the building, still she did not find anyone, but she did not give up hope. Whatever happened, she had to bring them back. She would not leave them behind. "But what about K'Vada?" she asked aloud to herself. "Where is he?"
Suddenly a low moan startled her. She quickly glanced around trying to locate the sound. "Where are you?" she called. "Make any noise if you can so that I can find you!"
She heard the moan again and this time she was able to locate it. Unfortunately though, the person was in the hall where the most damage was. "How could anyone live through that?" she gasped and hurried to find a way in. The only entrance that she found was partially filled with rubble, but had several large beams hanging precariously from the ceiling threatening to fall at any moment.
"Can you hear me?" she called from the entrance. When she heard the noise again, she climbed over the rubble and down into the ruined hall. There she saw a pair of legs sticking out from one of the giant statues. She immediately rushed over. Whoever it was, the statue had certainly blocked a good portion of the debris and kept them from being crushed.
"Luke?" she gasped, recognizing him. "Oh, no! Luke!" She immediately checked for a pulse and was relieved to find one. At least he was alive, but from what she could tell, his injuries were quite serious and if he did not get back to the ship, he would not make it back alive. She sniffled a sob and grabbing the sleeve of her uniform, she tore a piece off and tied it firmly around the gash on his forehead. He looked horrible and when she touched his skin, she realized that it was very cold. She feared that he was going into shock from his internal injuries that she was sure he had. What am I going to do? I am no doctor! she thought, trying not to panic.
Suddenly her eye caught the metallic glimmer of Klingon comm. badge not too far away. She snatched it up and quickly activated it after adjusting the frequency to that of the Tiger Shark's.
"Laika to Tiger Shark! I have a medical emergency! Please respond!" But all she got was static. She tried again, but still nothing happened. She looked down at Luke. His breathing was becoming more ragged and she suspected that he might have a punctured lung. She wouldn't be surprised if he did have several broken ribs.
"I have to leave for the moment Luke," she said softly placing her hand on his forehead. "I have to contact the ship and I can't do it here." She didn't want to do it, but without anyone else around and without any idea of knowing where they were and being unable to contact the ship, she had to leave. She simply did not see any other options.
She jumped to her feet and took off running as fast as she could, knowing that every second mattered for him. But as she happened to be rounding the corner, she suddenly came upon Danny and Thirteen. She gave them a big smile, relieved to find someone. "Luke's in there," she pointed, gasping for breath. "He's severaly injured, but I can't get in contact with the ship."

KezTrek left the Klingon shuttle as soon as the transport of the Ambassador was complete.
"Gentlemen, I thank-you. If you'd like to leave you may, or you can stay on board, take your pick, but I must be getting to the Ambassador." KezTrek said.
"We will leave, but I would be interested to see you again Admiral KezTrek of Starfleet, you are most intriguing." The lead Klingon said.
"I'm sure I am." KezTrek agreed, heading quickly for the transporter bay.
"This is unacceptable, we were in session."
"And if you'd still been in that room you'd be dead. Either because Cmdr K'Vada would have killed you or because an explosion went off in the council chambers, you can decide which you might have preferred while our doctor examines you." KezTrek walked into the room briskly barely even pausing as she said her peace, and moving the Ambassador towards the doors.
"Admiral KezTrek to Dontai, please report to sickbay." KezTrek said into her comm badge, then turning to the two security officers who had been waiting outside the transporter room she ordered them to take the Ambassador to sickbay and tell Dontai when he arrived that he was charged with finding her quarters and putting a 24 hours security detail on her.
KezTrek turned back into the transporter room. "KezTrek to Cmdr Wood, I'm beaming down to the surface."
"What? Admiral it's chaos down there you cant' possibly..."
"Cmdr, that wasn't a question it was a statement. Continue repairs and try and locate every member of our away team." KezTrek said, cutting the channel and ordering the transporter chief to beam her to the surface near the bar where Cmdr K'Vada had last been spotted.
KezTrek had picked up a phaser before stepping onto the platform and was still carrying her mek'leth, but she had no way of knowing how armed K'Vada was.
She paused outside the bar and taking a deep calming breath slipped inside trying to remain unnoticed. A booth provided suitable cover, but she couldn't see K'Vada. Sitting down she closed her eyes and let her breathing slow to almost nothing, but her mind was working over time.
Only half-Vulcan her telepathic powers weren't as strong as other Vulcan's, but though-out the years with various experimental technologies and practice she'd increased her natural abilities, with great focus she was sure she could find K'Vada, she just had to keep still long enough to make the mental connection and then she should be able to hold it while following him.
KezTrek searched through the minds of those closest too her, but she wasn't finding what she was looking for, carefully she let herself visualise her mental 'hands' reaching forwards, searching.
KezTrek's eyes flashed open, and her breath caught in her throat, he was near-by, but he was moving away quickly. KezTrek jumped up and followed at a brisk pace, she wanted to run but it would draw to much attention, and her Starfleet uniform already drew more than she liked.
"Sam..." she let her mind speak when they moved into a more secluded area, through a few back alleys that were probably better kept out of, but where he went, she followed.
K'Vada paused, looking around him, but he could see nothing. KezTrek smiled to herself; maybe these alleys weren't so bad.
KezTrek continued to search through his mind, but he must have been growing aware of her, because he turned around again when she wasn't expecting it.
Sam lunged at her before she had change to react, toppling them both onto the ground.
"Sam!" KezTrek reached deeper into his mind.
"You stopped me from completing my mission!" Sam yelled.
"Yeah, that must have hurt." KezTrek said, tossing Sam off her, and flipping back into her feet.
Sam came at her again and she saw him draw his phaser.
"Ah now that not nice." KezTrek said kicking out, and knocking the phaser from his hand.
She was finding it difficult to keep her mental connection, but even as Sam continued his attack she tried desperately to find *something* to make him stop.
KezTrek felt the blow to her head, and felt the darkness coming in, she gave up on fighting back and held onto the mental connection with everything that she had... finally, finally she found it, what she was looking for, with every last bit of strength left she pushed open the flood gates of K'Vada's mind.
She *felt* the pain, the shock, the anger, all burst forward in his mind, confusion reigning over all. Forcing herself into a sitting position, KezTrek tapped her comm badge.
"Two to beam up from my location, beam us directly to sickbay." KezTrek ordered, feeling the tingle of the transporter. She was barely free of the transporter beam when she blacked out, only vaguely aware of the security detail... she could still sense the mental link with Sam, and feel the anguish and confusion he was suffering though, but even that drifted into oblivion after a few moments and she was left in the darkness of her own mind.

OFF: The 1st part is during the post of Adm KezTrek, these are Sam his thoughts. Afterwords I'll continue where Kez left.
ON: It was dark there. Sam could vaguely see the contours of people. Then a very familiar person was coming in. He could feel her presence. He sensed that she was looking for him, but his trained mind could block his presence for her. Sam crawled away to wards the exit, but he made to much sound. She had heard him. He left the restaurant and run into several alleys. Then a voice came **Sam..** It was the admiral **No not now, Get away** Sam said back But she didn't got away, there was only one way out. To fight here, he should be stronger than she was, this was the option. Then it came again **Sam..** "You stopped me from completing my mission!" Sam yelled. "Yeah, that must have hurt." KezTrek said, tossing Sam off her, and flipping back into her feet. Sam came at her again and she saw him draw his phase. "Ah now that not nice." KezTrek said kicking out, and knocking the phaser from his hand. There was a struggle, she was stronger than he had thought. He couldn't keep his psychic barrier and she could read everything. The most startling was what she saw at the end. That wasn't for anyone's eyes. Not even Sam's wife. But before Sam knew he was transported of Qro'nos.
--USS Tiger Shark-B, Sickbay-- Sam and Kez rematerialized in sickbay, at that moment Kez passed out and Sam broke the connection they had. He tried to stand up, but he was held back at the ground. "Hay keep your hands off." Sam yelled "I'm a SFI capt. You can't treat me like this." "Sure we can, capt." Wood replied "We've checked with SFI and this wasn't an authorized mission." "No of course they say that it wasn't authorized. It looked bloody weired if they said to you that they let me kill an ambassador." Sam began "But I won't say anything." "I that case you'll be locked up in the brig." Wood said "Okay guys lock the capt. up."
--Brig-- Sam sat on his bench. And he was thinking. **Was it that SFI gave me the mission to kill, ambassador Miro? No they couldn't, but they did. I don't know, these questions make me mad.** Sam thought At that moment the door went open.
<TAG: anyone>
OFF: so who's going to interrogate me?

*Sickbay*
KezTrek woke slowly, she could hear Buster saying her name quietly but the bright lights of the infirmary were making it difficult to focus her vision.
"It's alright Admiral, you took quite a few knocks. Captain K'Vada has been taken to the brig, you need to rest."
"No!" KezTrek bolted upright, biting her lip as pain washed through her.
"Admiral, you received a concussion, a broken rib, multiple bruises and lacerations. Please don't make me sedate you again." Buster said.
"Doctor. I believe we've had this discussion before." KezTrek said, wincing.
"And you're going to ignore me and do right on doing as you please." Buster said, shaking his head, he was getting a little fed up of this.
"Doctor, I realise you are only trying to do you're duty, but I don't have time to lay around sickbay just because I happen to be in a little pain."
"Meaning you hurt like hell." Daniel's voice startled her.
"Don't start. You two can moan about me *after* the Doctor gives me an analgesic and I'm gone."
"Admiral I highly recommend against this." Buster said.
"Noted. An analgesic Doctor..." KezTrek repeated her request for meds and stood up once they were administered. She was still shaky, but she'd seen K'Vada's mind, and there was so much more going on here than they realised.
"Where is Ambassador Miro?" KezTrek asked.
"She was fine, I had Ensign Dontai take her to the VIP quarters assigned to her." Buster told her.
"Daniel go do there, I want constant security. Admiral KezTrek to the bridge, what is the status of our away team?" KezTrek asked tapping her badge.
"We're awaiting word from the surface Admiral. There was some sort of explosion in the council chambers, so things are hectic down there." Wood replied.
"Keep me apprised. I'll be in the brig." KezTrek informed him.
"Doctor, I assure you if there are any lasting effects from my injuries you'll be the first to know." KezTrek said, hoping it would placate the Doctor.
Buster didn't look convinced, but he nodded.
~~~~~
*The Brig*
"Captain K'Vada."
"You... what's happening?" he asked. KezTrek could almost feel the confusion emanating from him, he was scared and confused, for KezTrek this said almost more than anger ever could.
"Captain, I need to see your mind again. I can help you." KezTrek said, her voice was calm, quiet, she didn't want to startle him.
"Why? No! You can't! You have no right! No... right..." K'Vada closed his eyes, like he could block out the world around him.
"Sam, let me in." KezTrek said, her voice was level and she hoped soothing, as she tried to reach out to his mind.
"NO!" K'Vada screamed throwing himself against the forcefield.
KezTrek felt the pain that hit his system as if it was her own, adding to the dull ache she was still feeling from her earlier fight with him, the grasp she had on his mind was tenuous at best and it was hurting her to hold it, but as clearly as she knew that Earth was round, she knew there was something within K'Vada's mind that she must find.
She heard the security officer behind her, speaking to her, but it was a like vague buzz and she couldn't distinguish words.
"No, no, no," K'Vada rolled on the floor of his cell, he was trying to push her out of his mind, but years of training herself had served her well enough, as she fought through the pain, and the blocks he placed in her way to get where she needed to be.
Slowly K'Vada's struggling stopped, weather it was because he was too weak, or because he had just given up, KezTrek couldn't tell, but she didn't wait to find out, digging, deeper and deeper until she was in the deepest, darkest recesses of his mind.
She knew this place, not specifically, but she knew it as she knew her own dark place, the dark place every living creature had, where their darkest fears, their darkest desires, were kept, hidden away, buried, sometimes even from themselves.
The pain as she found what she was looking for was like nothing she had ever felt, it burned through her like fire and she could feel the same pain coming from K'Vada, hot like flame, icy cold like a Andorian winter.
/Inside K'Vada's mind/
Instructions, orders. A dark shadow, a voice.
'Kill ambassador Miro'
"Noooooooooo!"
The scream tore through the air like a knife though flesh, and KezTrek wasn't honestly sure if it was herself, or K'Vada that had done it. Too dark, too much pain, too deep... but she had her answers, K'Vada hadn't been under his own influence. Who the shadow in his mind was, she didn't know, but it wasn't his own voice. The final piece of the puzzle was found.
~~~~~
*Sickbay*
KezTrek's eyes blinked open carefully, she couldn't feel anything and her vision was blurry, her attempt to speak was pitiful, coming out more as a croak.
"Easy..." It was Daniel's voice, and she could vaguely make out his shape, but it was fuzzy.
"I... K'Vada..."
"Is sedated over there, the Doctor says he'll be fine, but whatever happened down there... you died, for a few minutes anyway, I thought we were going to lose you." Daniel's hand ran though the hair on her forehead.
"Too... stubborn." KezTrek murmured.
"For which we're very glad." Daniel said softly.
"Well Admiral, twice in one day, I do believe you're stalking me." Buster said coming over, tricorder in hand.
"You're *cough* just such good *cough* company." KezTrek said, carefully, it was like every word required maximum concentration.
"Well I'll tell you one thing, we won't be running out of my sickbay in a hurry now. If I have to strap you down. You are very lucky to even be alive. I gave you a mild paralytic earlier, it should wear of soon and you'll be able to move again, but for the moment I don't see any harm in you being forced to rest."
KezTrek would have glared, but she was honestly too tired to care, she'd endure sickbay for a little while at least.
"What about the away team?" KezTrek asked.

Luke came back to consciousness abruptly, another part of the building had collapsed adding yet another layer of rubble to Luke's crushed body.
He cried out in agony, thoughts flashing across his mind. "Why has no one come yet?!"
He bit his tongue from crying out any longer, the pain in his legs was almost unbearable and every time he opened his eyes he could see nothing.
In his last brief moment of consciousness he knew he could not stay there much longer. He would most certainly die. The rubble shifted again, dust billowing up. A large piece of column landed on Luke's back.
Unconsciousness swallowed him up again...

"I haven't heard from the away team for a while" Buster responded. "But then again, I'm not the authority around here. In fact, people hardly tell me anything" Buster continued, "that is... unless they end up in sickbay again".
Keztrek coughed again, after which Buster sighed. "Oh well. I'm sorry admiral. I shouldn't be so hard on my patients. I can imagine that sickbay isn't a fun place to stay anyway".
Keztrek showed a short smile in response to Buster's comment. In the meanwhile Buster made a hypospray ready. It would help against pain, and should make her sleep like a baby.
"But I wish my patients would listen a bit more to me" Buster continued. "Running from sickbay in an wrecked state isn't what I want my patients to do. Mind you, I only want the best for them".
"I got it" Keztrek answered. "I might think about listening next time".
Buster grinned, "Good". he said, while carefully emptying the hypospray in KezTrek's neck.
"Just thinking" Keztrek mumbled, inaudible.
"Or maybe you should just prevent ending up wounded in sickbay completely" Buster added. "Anyway, I'll let you rest now. If there is anything, feel free to call me, I'll be in my office. Besides, Daniel will probably keep you company".
Daniel nodded towards him as Buster walked to his office.

K'Vada was out, he lay there in sickbay unconscious, but his body was shaking. "Why is he shaking?" a nurse asked. "I don't know. I have an idea that it has something to do with his mental state. Betazoid shut down when they are mentally in distress." Buster to the nurse.
--Inside Sam his head-- "No No, no more. I won't kill Ambassador Miro, she is a good person. She is for peace." Sam said to the voice "No she's not. She is an enemy of the Federation, she will betray the diplomatic bonds with the Federation when she sees an better opportunity." The voice said. "No she's not. I've read her SFI psych profile, and she isn't like that. I won't kill her. I just wont." Sam shouted to the voice And the discussion continued for some time. After and hour or so. "I tell you for the last time, I won't kill her again." Sam said. "Then I kill her." The voice said and with that Sam could see a part of the voice face "And I'll kill you with it."
Sam felt like he was floating. He didn't knew what was happening, until he saw that light. He was returning to conscious state, it was slowly progressing. He could almost touch the clouds. Just a bit farther.
--Sickbay-- "Doctor." The nurse said "Doctor I think Capt. K'Vada is coming out of unconsciousness." "I think you're right." Buster said "Watch him closely." A few minutes later Sam was a bit awake. "Nurse?" Sam said "I'm here capt. What can I do for you?" the nurse asked. "Where am I?" Sam asked "You're on the USS Tiger Shark-B, you're in sickbay. You were unconscious for a day." The nurse replied "I need to talk to Adm. KezTrek ASAP." Sam told the nurse "Later, now you need to rest." The nurse told Sam. "I mean now. That's an order." Sam said half a sleep. "You're not in shape to give me orders. When you are more conscious I'll get the Admiral." The nurse said "Okay." Sam said and lay back.

*Sickbay*
KezTrek felt breath on her hand, her eyes opened and she smiled, seeing Daniel napping, his head resting on the bed beside her.
"Admiral, welcome back to the land of the living, again. How are you feeling?" Buster asked whispering.
"I'm fine. Actually I feel much better than I did earlier." KezTrek said.
"So you'll be wanting to bust out again? Well before you do, Captain K'Vada is awake he's been eager to speak to you." Buster informed her.
"Thanks. Erm... Daniel..."
"Huh..." Daniel shot up, bleary eyed.
"Go home." KezTrek told him.
"I was just having a nap."
"Well that as it maybe, I'm going to talk to K'Vada and I'll join you." KezTrek said, letting her hand clasp his before he left.
KezTrek sat up carefully, swinging her legs over the side of the bed.
"Easy Admiral, you're still weak."
"I'm fine Doctor." KezTrek gave him a warning glance and stood up, taking a moment to centre herself before she moved towards K'Vada's bed on the other side of sickbay.
"Admiral. Please I... I don't know what..."
"It's okay Sam, I saw it. I think now that you're aware of the subliminal messages that were implanted in your mind you'll be able to fight against them. How are you feeling?" She asked, placing a gentle hand on his arm, it was meant to ground him, centre him, she hoped it was working.
"I don't... it feels like I'm not really... me..." Sam murmured.
"If you'll let me, I can re-enter your mind, we can beat this together." KezTrek said.
"Excuse me Admiral but I don't think that's a good idea you're last attempt almost killed you both." Buster interrupted.
"Because Sam was fighting me. If he's a willing participant and I can touch him, it will make things much easier. Sam?" KezTrek looked at him, trying to gauge him.
"I... you could be hurt I..."
"I am a big girl. I know the risks. I also know the risks to you if we don't do this." She said, her vision focused solely on him.
Sam nodded. "Okay."
"We shouldn't do it yet at any rate, we're both weak. Rest, we'll see how you feel tomorrow. Doctor is you're shift almost over?"
Buster looked at her and nodded.
"Good, you can see me to the bridge before I return to my quarters... to make sure I do." KezTrek said. She said goodnight to Sam, and walked with Buster towards the turbolifts.
"Doctor, Captain K'Vada isn't entirely under his own control. I want you to have your staff keep a close eye. If he becomes restless or agitated have him sedated. I'm going to check on our away teams and the Ambassador, then I promise I will go to bed." KezTrek told him.
Buster looked sceptical, but nodded. "I'll keep tabs on him Admiral." He promised.
"Thank you." KezTrek said, getting onto the turbolift alone and ordering it to the Bridge.
~~~~~
*Bridge*
"Admiral on Bridge." An Ensign called out, everyone turned around and stood up.
"At Ease. Report." KezTrek ordered.
"Repairs are well underway, communications are back up. Ambassador Miro is in VIP quarters. We're still awaiting the return of the away team and..."
"Laika to Tigershark... please answer." The desperate voice of their science officer interrupted Wood's report.
"Commander, this is Admiral KezTrek what is your situation?" she asked.
"It's Luke, Commander Dowding, he's trapped, the explosion in the council chambers, I can't get him out and everyone down here is so busy and..."
"It's okay Commander, calm down. Wood, scan the council chambers for any bio signs. J'Leera, return to the council chambers and find Luke, if we can't get a lock on his bio signs we'll use your commbadge as a target." KezTrek ordered her.
"Sickbay prepare for an emergency transport." She added.
"Commander Wood?"
"I'm picking up bio signs, they are faint, I'm not sure I can get a lock, but I'll try."
"Steady Commander, if you can make the lock, wait until Commander Laika is onsite, and use her as a target."
"She's approaching the council chambers now, I think I can get a lock." Wood said.
"Then take it, beam them directly to sickbay." KezTrek ordered.
Wood's eyes were concentrated on his console; every eye on the bridge was on him.
"Transport complete"
"Find the rest of the away team. Now. I want them back on board. I'll be in sickbay." KezTrek told Wood, turning back around and heading right back to were she'd come from.
~~~~~
*Sickbay*
"Admiral. I couldn't help him he was trapped and..."
"It's fine J'Leera, you did exactly what you had to, I know leaving him to get help must have been difficult. Tell me what happened down there?" KezTrek asked, one ear on J'Lreera the other on the life-saving efforts of the medical team.
"I don't really know, we were looking for Captain K'Vada and... there were Romulan's," J'Leera told her.
"Okay. Don't worry, you did everything right, were you injured?"
"No Admiral, just a few cuts and scrapes."
"Okay, go back to your quarters and rest."
"Admiral want to..."
"Rest." KezTrek said insistently.
J'Leera nodded and obeyed casting a look back at Luke.
KezTrek watched from the sidelines not wanting to interrupt the medical team, waiting for information.
Buster eventually came over to her, there was blood on his uniform and his brow was knitted into a frown.
"Doctor?"
"It's not good Admiral. I'm not even sure of the full extent of the injuries yet myself, I'm prepping him for surgery now, there is definitely internal bleeding and worse. I just can't say right now." Buster said.
"Okay Doctor, keep me informed." KezTrek said wiping around and out of sickbay. She was Commanding Officer of this ship, she had a duty to perform and she couldn't let one ill crewman, regardless of personal fondness, get in the way. Or at least this was what she told herself as she headed to the Ambassador's quarters.
~~~~~
*VIP Quarters*
"Evening Ensign Dontai. I trust the Ambassador is settled."
"Yes Ma'am." Dontai said, snapping to attention.
"At ease. What time did your shift end at Ensign?"
"Ah a while ago Admiral but..."
"No buts, call some relief and take a break." KezTrek ordered him, ringing on the Ambassador's chime.
She waited for permission before entering.
"Ambassador, I apologise for not visiting sooner, things have been hectic. I hope these quarters are okay."
"They are fine. Your crewman tricked me. I was in the middle of a session with the High Council and..."
"That crewman is in sickbay seriously injured and possibly dying because he 'tricked' you. The chambers exploded moments after you were transported to safety. Now I will not debate the necessary actions my crew took to defend you. If your accommodations are suitable, I'll leave you to rest, if you have any problems there is a security officer out side your door."
"I'm sorry I didn't know..."
"We aren't in the habit of kidnapping people Ambassador, when my crew does something, we have a reason."
"I'm sure. Prehaps you could explain the ex-commander of this ship trying to kill me." Miro said.
"I'm sure I will, as soon as I know why myself. Good evening Ambassador." KezTrek said as she left. Her first instinct was to return to the bridge, but she'd promised the Doctor she would rest... of course things were a little different now.
KezTrek considered it and turned towards her quarters. She wouldn't stay, just let Daniel know what was going on and see Paul, he was no doubt wondering where his mommy was, and then she would go back to the bridge, rest would have to wait, members of her crew were potentially in danger and she wouldn't be able to rest until she knew they were safe.
Luke felt a different surface beneath him, it was cold and hard, but different to where he had just been. He was confused... He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. Instead a racking cough struck through his body, he felt the bitter iron taste of blood in his mouth. "He's going in to shock." Luke heard someone say. Buster, it had to be. "Nurse Powers, over here. Hold Luke's neck at this angle, keep the breathing tube in his mouth for three seconds and then take it out. If he begins to convulse again, then give him a spray of this." Luke was lost, he couldn't see a thing. He felt an unfamiliar object in his mouth, the coughing began again. He drifted out of consciousness as the hypospray was administered. **** Luke woke again, he found that he could breath easier. He tried to move his arms but both were tightly bound. Something was covering his eyes but he could feel the bandages on both his arms and legs. His entire body ached with a dull throb. His stomach and back felt as if three battle ready Klingon's had trampled him beneath their feet He heard doors whoosh open and somebody enter. All was quiet except some faint movement in the background and whisperings. Suddenly there was elevated voices. "Dr., If you don't move then so help me...." "Lt. Bower! I will not be spoken to like this. Luke has just gone through major surgery. Its a bloomin miracle that he's even still with us. You buzzing around him will not help matters." Luke assumed that they must think that he was still out cold. He remained quiet, listening... "I'm sorry Doc, I'm just worried. He's been well good to me on the Tiger Shark. Was the one that got me the post here in the first place..." "It's going to be tough Max." "Can you give me a run-down of how he's doing?" Luke listened intently at this point, ignoring the throbbing headache that was developing as the pain killers slowly wared off. "I'm not at liberty to say Max..." "Please Doc, Just let me know how he's going." Luke heard Buster sigh. "I'm not going to go into details but it isn't good. He has suffered serious internal injuries, the explosion and consequential cave in did serious damage to his back, he will recover but it will not be pain free or fast. As a result of his back injuries, Luke's limbs are not 100% either. It is unlikely that he will be walking without aid for a while." Luke could feel himself sweating, a wave of nausea was flooding his body. He felt an 'and' coming. Max muttered something that sounded crude to say the least. "The worst thing may come as major shock to you and Luke." Luke held his breath, this was it, this was the 'and'. "He has lost the sight in both his eyes. His eyes are showing no signs of response to light or visual stimuli." "But that means..." "Yes." Buster said gravely. "It is unlikely, even with modern technology and medicine as it is, that Luke will not be fit to pilot again." Luke couldn't help it... He vomitted... Then all was dark...
Paul was predictably asleep when she entered her quarters, Daniel was watching him, looking up as he heard her enter. One look and he knew he wouldn’t like what he was about to hear.
"Luke Dowding has been injured. The rest of the away team is still unaccounted for. I'm need." KezTrek told him.
Daniel nodded, but KezTrek could feel that he was upset, yet again her duties pulled her away from her family, it was an old tale, one they both knew, of course, Daniel had never really progressed in the ranks, and his duties were lesser, but KezTrek was an Admiral and as a half Vulcan she could continue in active duty for years yet, it was frustrating.
KezTrek leaned over Paul to brush hair back from his head. "He's getting so big..." she murmured, thinking of how much of her son's life she was missing.
"I'll see you later." She promised, giving Daniel a kiss before she left again, heading to the bridge.
Her mind wandered a little as she rode in the turbolift, but before she was at the bridge, she centred her thoughts on the crisis at hand.
"Report." She ordered as she entered the bridge.
Luke woke with a start. His mouth tasted vile and he felt cold and shivery.
The room was quiet and still, he had no idea how long he had been out for. The last thing he remembered was Buster and Max talking about his sight and then being sick.
He sighed, just thinking about the loss of his sight made him feel alone.
Empty...
Angry thoughts began to appear in Luke's head. He wouldn't even be in this mess if K'Vada hadn't made an attempt on the Ambassador's life.
However, just thinking like this made him exhausted and he eventually fell into a troubled sleep. A sleep filled with screams and yells. A sleep disturbed by memories of flying, memories which were all he had left...
Rye was standing on the bridge monitoring and controlling the away team. So far, Commander Dowding had persuaded Ambassador Miro's security guard to allow him to assist with the security sweeps, and a report from another ensign had indicated that Captain...Commander K'vada was leaving the building towards a café. Rye was somewhat confused with Captain K'vada's activities. He was on an assassination mission, comandeered his former ship, and imprisoned the crew, but he had not harmed the men and women he used to serve with and command. This showed that at least some of his old personality was active. But why the assassination attempt.
Rye was pulled back to reality as Luke requested an immediate beam out for the Ambassador. As Rye initialized the transport, a loud blast was heard over the comm channel. Rye confirmed that he had the ambassador, then immediately turned his attention to Luke.
(=/\=) "Fitzpatrick to Laika."
All he got was static...
(=/\=) "Fitzpatrick to Security. Beam down to the planet, and help round up the away team, and apprehend Commander K'Vada."
"Aye, Sir"(=/\=)
Rye ran several scans, and tried to locate the team, he could read two members, but Commander Laika, and Commander Dowding were both unaccounted for.
(=/\=) "Fitzpatrick to Away team. I believe that Commanders Laika and Dowding are trapped inside the hall. Thirteen, and Danny, please assist them."
Rye received aknowledgements from them, and tried to find something else to help them.
(=/\=) "Buster. Prepare for medical emergencies. We believe that Luke and J'Leera may be heavily injured. We should have them back up here in a few minutes."
"Understood Rye. We'll be ready for them." (=/\=)
Rye heard over the comm that Danny and Thirteen had found J'leera, and that she had found Luke Trapped under a statue. They were both on their way to assist him. A few minutes later, two guards who had been sent down were also on-site to help Luke out. Once he had been freed, they escorted him to an area where the interference was weak enough to allow a transporter signal to coalesce. The majority of the away team was now back on board, and hopefully, Commander Dowding would be ok.
Rye ran down to sickbay, where he saw Buster treating Luke. One of the nurses approached Rye, and told him that he had to leave the treatment area. Rye went over to J'leera, who was sitting on the biobed.
"Hey J'leera. How are you feeling."
"I'm fine, actually. I didn't get in the building ntil after the blast. Thanks for your concern though."
"Oh...Well, that's good. Are you going to stay here, or would you like to go have dinner? It has been a pretty hectic day."
Luke awoke to feel the cool brush of hypospray, he felt groggy to say the least. "Luke, Luke. Can you hear me?" "Yeah..." He croaked. His throat was incredibly dry. "Ok, we need you to sit up so we can give you some water and then we need you to start on your exercises." Luke was confused. "How long have I been out for?" He asked as he sat up. The bandages still covered his eyes but his legs and arms no longer were bandaged. "Three days. We are approaching Bellicose for shore leave and supply pick up." "Who... ?" Luke started but was interupted by a coughing fit. As if he knew what Luke was going to ask, Buster replied. "Max is at the helm. He refused point blank to let anyone else take the Tiger Shark. He claimed that you would not approve." Luke smiled, it caused the bandages to tighten on his head so it qucikly turned to a grimace. "What exercises?" Luke asked, remembring what Buster had said before. "You need to start moving your muscles in both your arms and your legs. You haven't used them for three days and you are weak because of you injuries. Any more time and you will find it harder to get used to things again." Luke frowned. This didn't sound like it was going to be easy, but Luke was not bothered. He just wanted to know about his sight. "Doctor..." Luke started but again Buster seemed to know what he was going to say and interupted. "There are treatments Luke, you may regin your sight but you may not. There is the possibility of implants if all else fails but of course it will not be the same as 'normal' vision." Buster said gravely. Luke sighed, he didn't feel pity for himself anymore, or anger or anything else he had felt before. He straightened up on the bed and stuck a determined look on his face. "Let's get to it then." He said. Luke didn't know it but at that moment Buster smiled warmly. "Yup, let's get going." **** Three hours later Luke ached all over. With the aid of Buster he had managed to regain the use of both his arms and legs and he was ready to be cleared from sickbay. "We've dropped out of warp." Luke said as Buster directed him back to his bed. "Yes, the Tiger Shark is beginning docking procedures." Buster replied. Luke listened intently. This was one part of his life where his sight was not necessary. He was so in tune with the Tiger Shark and the noises that she made that he didnt need eyes to know how she was doing. After she had docked Luke spoke up. "Not bad." He said. "He screwed up the change from impulse to full stop but apart from that he did good!" Luke said, obviously referring to Max. Luke could hear Buster tapping away at a console, the beepings reminded him of the bridge, where he sat and flew the ship. He felt envious towards Max, he knew this was foolish but the feelings of self pity and anger came back again. "OK." Buster said. "You can be dismissed tomorrow morning. You will of course be off duty and you will need assitance in and out of your quarters. That can be arranged." Luke felt embarrassed and stupid. He would have to have a guide. "I'm going to go off duty now, however Nurse Powers will be here and I'm only a comm call away if you need me." Buster added. Luke simply nodded and laid back down in his bed. Was this how it was always going to be from now on? The constant rise of good feelings but then the sinking back down, further down than before? He rolled over and shut his sightless eyes. Wishing for sleep to come and take away the pain... <OFF: I have gone forwards in time by about three days. I hope this is OK with everyone. The TS has just docked in my post.>
J'Leera came skidding around the corner, and Thirteen and Danny looked up. "Luke," she called out, "come, help!" And she was gone again. The two officers sprinted behind her, and found Luke, his back being crushed by a big column, he was out cold. Thirteen walked over and tried to lift it. The heavy piece of stone barely budged. Thirteen felt the protest of his right arm. The burns from blowing out the forcefield had weakened his body part. Danny came to help. Together the two men tried to move the column, while J'Leera had kneeled down next to Luke.
"This is not working," Danny said. Thirteen nodded, and looked around. There wasn't any useful equipment around. Then he noticed the Romulan phaser is J'Leera's hand. "If you do not mind, I would like to borrow that," Thirteen said motioning for the device. J'Leera handed it to him. Thirteen studied it for a second, and tore the side of the phaser off. He looked at the wires inside, and ripped out a few. He took two, and connected them, while a third hung with it's end out of the phaser, meaningless.
"Stand back," Thirteen said, as he pointed the phaser at the column. Danny helped J'Leera off the ground, and took her a few steps backwards. Thirteen discharged the tuned phaser, and for a few seconds an intense beam of energy dug itself into the fallen column. Cracks of light breached the surface of the stone, and then the bright light from the phaser ceased. The pillar crumbled into small rocks, and with handfuls Danny and Thirteen began removing them from Luke's body. "Nice trick Thirteen," Danny complimented.
"Now how are we going to get him out of here?" J'Leera asked. "I will carry him," Thirteen stated. "We must get him back to the slipjets, then I'll take him back to the Tiger Shark," Danny said. The other officers nodded. Carrying Luke's barely living body was, even for Thirteen, not an easy job as they had to maneuver over the rubble and piles of collapsed building.
After a long haul the four officers emerged in the outside world again, and went to find their slipjets. J'Leera checked Luke's pulse, and shook her head, as her eyes grew wider. "He won't last long anymore," she sighed. "I am sure that commander Dowding will survive," Thirteen said. The slipjets were where they'd left them. After hoisting Luke in the back, and Danny in the front, the jet went off the carry the mortally wounded Luke back to the Tiger Shark. Thirteen and J'leera took the last slipjet.
The Tiger Shark got its permission to dock at Bellicose, and short after the procedure had been carried out. Thirteen had decided to stay on the Tiger Shark for a change, finally getting some time alone. The first thing he decided on was to regenerate. Doctor Buster had told him to do so more often for his arm to heal faster, and Thirteen decided to this time do what the doctor told. "Commence regeneration cycle, eight hours," Thirteen ordered as he stepped into the alcove. The computer beeped, and Thirteen's eyes closed shut.
The familiar green shimmer cast its eerie light over the drones. They stood in squads of three by four. Each row of three stepped forward, and were transported off the cube, as from behind three drones stepped in again to keep the three by four complete. Thirteen was next in line, but he felt nothing. No lust for a fight, no joy for victory, nothing. Just one word in his head, one command, a command that he would fulfil. Assimilate.
In a green flash of light Thirteen was gone, and he rematerialized in the same fashion. He heard people scream, and used it as a way of orientation. The sounds made by the squealing children and women were easy to locate. Thirteen walked over to woman that looked at him as if he was death's incarnate. For her he was.
