KezTrek was glad that the crew had been allowed a few days at the end of this last mission, it had been a difficult one. Coupled with the slight case of being arrested, with all the obvious difficulties that presented, KezTrek and the Tigershark had to get use to new officers and say goodbye to old ones.
Still, it wasn't a complete loss, Luke was back where he belonged at least, even if it wasn't behind the helm. KezTrek chuckled to herself wondering how many times Luke would head for the helm, only to realise that was no longer his chair... she remembered her first days as First Officer on the Fang, the urge to go sit at helm had been over whelming at first.
"Admiral KezTrek, there is an incoming communication for you from Admiral Elron." The bridge reported over the comm.
"Patch it to my quarters." KezTrek told them.
"Admiral, to what do I owe the pleasure?" KezTrek asked.
"An unidentified ship has been spotted near the Romulan borders, the Romulan's aren't laying claim to it, the Tigershark is being sent to investigate it." Elron explained.
KezTrek prevented the internal sigh from becoming vocal, as she nodded in agreement with the Admiral.
"All the details we have are being transmitted to the Tigershark now, be careful." Elron told her.
"Aren't I always." KezTrek replied as the communiquรฉ cut off.
"KezTrek to all senior staff members, report to the briefing room." She ordered.
"New orders already? I thought I'd be a while more." Daniel said coming out of the nursery where he'd been putting Paul down for a nap.
"Apparently stealing a ship isn't as big a crime as it use to be. Either that or they've decided to execute me and this mysterious ship is their executioner. I know we had plans, I'm sorry." KezTrek apologised.
"It's okay. We'll do it some other time." Daniel assured her, but KezTrek could tell he was disappointed. Some days she looked at Daniel and Paula and wondered why she did this, why weren't they happily living on some nice quiet little planet. Other days she looked at them and knew exactly why she was doing this, to protect her family... the down side of that was often that she didn't get to spend much time with them.
"What time are you on duty?" she asked.
"Not until tomorrow morning," Daniel told her.
"We can still have dinner then, 1900?" KezTrek suggested.
"I'll be here." Daniel said, with a smile.
KezTrek nodded and headed towards the briefing room, maybe if they got this done quickly she'd have some hope of salvaging the afternoon, but it was already after 1400, so she didn't hold out much hope.
*Briefing Room*
KezTrek arrived a few minutes later than everyone else, having stopped on the bridge to get all the necessary information they'd been provided downloaded onto a data padd.
"Good afternoon." She greeted looking around at faces, old and new...

On her way to the briefing room, she quickly made a detour to her quarters and changed into her uniform. As she smoothed the top the couldn't help but to look at the pips on her uniform. After the last mission and what happened to Mark, she wondered if she would be demoted or at least punished. She hadn't heard anything and she secretly hoped that the incident would be forgotten, although she doubted that would be the case.
The took a quick look in the mirror on her way out the door, pausing to smooth her hair back and hurried on up to the briefing room. The room was not quite full yet, but she was pleased to see that the new officers made it in time.
She quickly took her seat and waited for Admiral Keztrek to speak.

KezTrek gave the senior staff a few moments to settle before she began to speak.
"Firstly let me welcome our new officers to their first official briefing. I know you haven't been onboard long but I'm sure we'll all get to know each other very well in the coming months. As always any problems can be brought to me or Cmdr Dowding. Now, I received a communiquรฉ from Admiral Elron a short time ago, it appears an unidentified ship has been spotted along the Romulan/Federation boarders." KezTrek pulled up a star chart of that area of space with little blue dots highlighting where the craft had been spotted.
"So far it has show no signs of hostility but the Romulan's deign any knowledge of the ship and no one else is taking credit for it either. From the limited scans we've been able to procure, the ship appears to be highly advanced. Our job is to find it and attempt to make contact with its crew." The display changed to a hazy scan of the vessel a satellite on the Federation side of the zone had been able to capture. It was vague at best but it was all they'd been able to get before the vessel disappeared, presumably using some type of cloaking device.
"Mr. Peers set a course for the Romulan Neutral Zone. Danny I want all our systems green lighted before we reach the Neutral Zone. That means Weapons as well Thirteen, checked and double-checked, we took a lot of damage on our last... mission... I don't want any surprises if this ship turns out to be hostile. Mr. Kirk, J'Leera, I want all our sensors and scientific equipment at 110%. Until a new CMO is assigned Nurse Kellis is in charge of sickbay, Luke is you could make sure she has everything she needs. Any questions?" KezTrek waited a few moments to see if anyone had anything more to say...

Kirk decided it would be best to stop off at his quarters first and change into his uniform. He did not want to make a bad first impression by being out of uniform. After a few minutes Kirk was well on his way to the Tiger Shark.
Kirk arrived in the briefing room and noticed the Admiral was already there waiting for them. He took the seat next to J'Leera and waited for the rest of the crew to file in. Once everybody settled in the Admiral started her briefing.
Kirk shook his head as he looked around the room at all the new faces. It's going to take some time to get to know all these people, Kirk thought. Once everybody was finished with their questions Kirk left the briefing room with the rest of the staff members.

T'Brel had quickly made his way towards his quarters after thier short R&R. He couldn't really complain, he wanted to start thier mission long ago. He was pleasantly surprised to see that his room was really really big. He later found it out that it was Commander Dowding's old room.
When the call for the senior staff meeting came, T'Brel quickly made his towards the meeting room. He of course would never get lost on the Tiger Shark ever again. He had inspected the entire ship from the view screen to the auxiallry gel pack station.
The meeting started quickly after the Captain got their,T'Brel was intrigued about the prospect of finding this vessel, it might be fun.
"Mr. Peers set a course for the Romulan Neutral Zone. Danny I want all our systems green lighted before we reach the Neutral Zone. Seeing that there were no question, the meeting was called to an end and T'Brel was the first one up and headed quickly to his station. As he was ordered he set course for the Romulan Neutral Zone.
"Captain we are ready," T'Brel reported.
"Engage, Mr. Peers"

Luke muttered angrily to himself as he attached his comm badge to his uniform and quickly straightened the top jacket. He brushed at his shoulders to clean up something that probably wasn't there...
He was nervous.
Very nervous.
He had not been expecting the promotion to FO of the Tiger Shark, in fact he had been preparing himself for early retirement... very early.
He stared at himself in the mirror. His eyes weren't as blue as they used to be and his hair was a lot longer. He had filled out since his arrival on the Tiger Shark. In fact looking at himself he realised he looked like a completely different person. In someways he supposed he was. He had certainly changed his views on life, he was no longer naive for example. When you were on the Frontier there was no time for naivity, you had to make quick and fast decisions using the cold hard facts, Luke had learnt this the hard way on many occassions.
He shook his head, is this what becoming a FO did to you?! Was he becoming synical?! It was likely but he would have to ponder this another time. With one last fleeting glimpse at the mirror he strolled out of his quarters (which were huge and far too big in his opinion, he didn't have that muchs stuff!) and headed for the Bridge and then in turn the Briefing Room.
As Luke walked into the Briefing Room, apologising for his lateness, he realised that there was one good thing about being a FO. His quarters were considerably closer to the Bridge, so it now took him less than five minutes to get there. He would have to remember that...
Luke took his seat to the right of KezTrek and surveyed the table. Everyone, new and old was seated there. This would take some getting use too, he wondered how often he would call Kirk Wood? Or call down to Sickbay and ask for Buster? And could Engineering actually be the same with Rye? Luke sighed and turned his attention to KezTrek who was in the process of briefing the crew....
It was curious indeed, but Luke loved a mystery. He wondered exactly what purpose this unidentified vessel had. If it was violent then why hadn't it attacked anything yet? There were several Starfleet facilities out there, and if was Romulan then why the secrecy? Luke had read reports that the negotiations with the Empire was going well, since the whole Shinzon incident the Romulans suddenly became very talkative and Luke had heard rumours that the Romulans had stretched too far, the Empire was beginning to crumble on the edges. Luke couldn't pretend he was sad to hear this, the Romulans creeped him out more than a little bit, they were so Vulcan and yet so... well... not at exactly the same time.
Luke snapped out of his thoughts when he heard KezTrek say his name. He was to go and check in on Nurse Kellis.
"Of Course Admiral." Luke replied, it would give him a chance to wander the ship, perhaps visit engineering as well. Make sure everyone was OK.
The Brieifing ended and Luke walked out onto the Bridge first, he immediately headed to the helmsman console and very nearly sat down before realising what he had just done. He coughed and turned round, flushed slightly. J'Leera poorly concealed a smile, Luke grinned back. Change was good but he was glad some things hadn't changed.
Luke made way for Peers who seemed a little confused by what Luke had just done.
"Just making sure everything's OK Lt." He said smiling.
He left the Bridge and headed for Sickbay where he would formally introduce himself to Nurse Kellis. They had met briefly before but they hadn't had a chance to talk much.
He arrived at Sickbay and had to take a double take to make sure he was in the right room. It had totally changed. Luke assumed this was the combined efforts of Kellis and the repair and upgrade teams. It looked good. Buster would be impressed.
"Ah Commander." Kellis said as she exited the CMO's office.
"Nurse Kellis." Luke said, extending his hand which she took and shook heartily. "How's things down here?" He asked.
"Very good thank you Commander." She replied. "Everything seems to be fine for now, although I am missing one medical shipment, nothing essential I just like to be covered."
Luke smiled. "I'll check with Ops, they should know whether we received the shipment or not."
"Thank you Commander."
"Not at all Nurse, perhaps you would care to join us on the Bridge later, if you aren't too busy?" Luke asked.
Kellis laughed and looked around. "Don't look busy, I'll get this damn paper work done and see but thanks for the offer Commander."
Luke assured her it was no problem and then left to head back to the Bridge. He wanted to be there for when the Tiger Shark was taken out of Dock.
He remembered what Kellis had said about the shipment and tapped his comm badge.
"Dowding to Lt. Kirk, I have just been to Sickbay and Nurse Kellis has stated that she is missing one medical shipment. Do you know anything about it?" He asked.

"Dowding to Lt. Kirk, I have just been to Sickbay and Nurse Kellis has stated that she is missing one medical shipment. Do you know anything about it?" He asked.
"I'm sorry sir but I have not been able to go over all the shipment logs," Kirk said, "I will check into it right now."
<Tag Commander Dowding>
Kirk looked up from the console at Commander J'Leera whom he had been working with on the sensors. Everything seemed to be going over smoothly as none of the scanners or sensors were out of alignment.
"Excuse me for a moment Commander." Kirk siad leaving the sicence station and heading over to the Operations station.
Kirk began going over the supply shipment logs looking for any errors. He quickly found there to be to many log entries because of the refitment of the ship. Kirk narrowed the search to just medical supplies and watched the list get drastically shorter. After a few moments of looking over the logs Kirk found the problem.
"Kirk to Commander Dowding."
"Go ahead Lieutenant."
"I found the missing medical supplies, it seems the starbase personel placed them in cargo bay 1 along with several spare gel packs."
"Good work, Dowding out."
That was easy enough, Kirk thought to himself as he got up from his chair to move back over to the science station with J'Leera. As Kirk walked the length of the bridge he looked at the help station and noticed T'Brel's lips were moving but he wasn't saying anything. Is he talking to the ship? Kirk chuckled to himself and made a mental reminder to tease T'Brel later on about it.
"So Commander, where was I?" Kirk said smiling.

"Dowding to Kellis" Luke said, after tapping his comm badge.
=^= Found my shipment yet Commander? =^= Came the response.
"Indeed I have Nurse, It's located in Cargo Bay 1, apparantly there was a mix up at Bellicose. I'll get someone to send it to you as soon as." Luke replied.
=^= Thank you Commander, Kellis out =^=
Luke smiled as the comm closed, she wasn't Buster but she sure had the Doctor's tone...
Luke arrived on the Bridge a matter of minutes later and took his seat next to Admiral KezTrek, a fleeting glimpse towards Helm escaping him.

KezTrek managed to fit in dinner with Daniel as promised, even fitting in enough time to take Paul swimming on the holodeck before a call from the bridge let her know they were approaching the last known co-ordinates of the ship.
"I'll tuck him in, go save the universe or whatever it is you do." Daniel told her.
The senior staff were all present when she arrived on the bridge, despite the fact their shifts had all ended some time ago.
"I see something's never change," KezTrek murmured to Luke with a hint of amusement.
Luke nodded in agreement. "We've been scanning the area, so far no sign of the ship, or any disturbances that indicate a cloaked vessel."
"Keep scanning. Bring up a star chart of this system; marked with everywhere the ship has been spotted." KezTrek ordered.
The chart appeared on the main viewer, small blue dots showing where the ship had been. KezTrek was looking for a pattern, but if there was one, it didn't seem to immediately show itself.
"Okay pull up a more in depth chart of the first place the ship was spotted." KezTrek said. It was a small system with only one M class planet, completely lifeless except for the team of federation scientists using the planet to test new, safer, faster methods of terraforming.
"Next." It was much the same, a small systems, this time with three M class planets, two were uninhabited, on the third a species who were at an technological stage something like humans of the mid-eighteen hundreds, with a population around six-hundred thousand. The federation ship Olino was studying the people but otherwise the system wasn't of much interest.
The next few places the ship had been spotted were all similar, practically uninhabited.
"Give me a list of all systems in this area that are completely, or mostly uninhabited." KezTrek said.
A list of about six different systems appeared on screen. "There are a lot of small systems in this area of space that are mostly uninhabited, but these are the closest to our location." Kirk supplied helpfully.
"Pick one Mr. Kirk." KezTrek said.
"Ma'am?" Kirk looked at her.
"Not old enough to be a ma'am Lieutenant, pick a system." KezTrek told him.
"Ah... yes Ma... Admiral, the... Deralon System?" Kirk offered the suggestion quickly.
"Mr. Peers, lay a course for the Deralon System, Warp 4, engage." KezTrek ordered, giving Luke a wry smile, which he returned as she took her seat. Sometimes being the Admiral had its advantages.
*fifty-seven minutes later*
"Entering the Deralon System," Luke announced as the ship slowed to impulse.
"Begin scanning." KezTrek said, watching the view screen.
"I'm detecting a disturbance four-hundred kilometres of our port bow it..." Before J'Leera could finish her sentence the view screen changed from a Starfield to the image of a ship. Easily more than twice the size of the Tigershark, its design was sleek, blue and green mingled on the hull almost soothing.
"Open hailing frequencies." KezTrek instructed standing up, feeling Luke at her back.
"This is Rear Admiral KezTrek of the U.S.S Tigershark," KezTrek identified herself.
"No reply Admiral." Kirk said.
"Clearly," KezTrek said dryly. "Keep hailing, all channels all frequencies, all languages."
A few moments later the view screen flared again this time changing to show a face. He, at least KezTrek assumed it was a he, looked almost human. Lithe and tall, with clear delicate features, the only thing that set him apart from a human was his ears, which were pointed at the tip. However, he was clearly not Vulcan, or human and KezTrek did not believe he was a hybrid of the two species either.
"I am Illian," the man identified.
"Greetings. We have never seen a vessel such as yours before, we..."
"We do not socialise with lower beings." Illian said.
KezTrek raised and eyebrow. "I suppose it depends on your definition of lower beings."
Illian seemed to consider this. "You intrigue us, your appearance is like that of people in our myths. We will reserve judgement until you have proven yourself."
"Myths... how about that." KezTrek murmured, thinking how much Illian reminded her of the stories of elves in Earths own myths.
"Exactly how are we to 'prove' ourselves?" KezTrek asked.
"We will discuss it and decide." Illian said, cutting the communications.
"Nice guy," KezTrek said quietly, waiting to see if anyone would have something to say about their new 'friend'.

"Ma'am?" Kirk looked at her.
"Not old enough to be a ma'am Lieutenant, pick a system." KezTrek told him. T'Brel couldn't help but smile when Admiral Keztrek correct Kirk. To him it was a very funny moment, but he knew that his friend might and most likely would be very embarrassed.
"Ah... yes Ma... Admiral, the... Deralon System?" Kirk offered the suggestion quickly.
"Mr. Peers, lay a course for the Deralon System, Warp 4, engage." KezTrek ordered. When T'Brel heard his name he quickly went back to attention and laid in the course to the Deralon system just as the Admiral had ordered.
"Aye Admiral"
The trip to the system was uneventful, which T'Brel was happy for. But once the Tigershark entered the system a hub of activity soon started. T'Brel quickly ran some scans of the system to make sure that it wouldn't cause any damage to navigation, which T'Brel was grateful to know was the case.
"Open hailing frequencies." KezTrek instructed standing up, feeling Luke at her back.
"This is Rear Admiral KezTrek of the U.S.S Tigershark," KezTrek identified herself. To T'Brel surprise no one answered the Admiral, but again they didn't know who was out their either. The next moment the image of a humanoid appeared. The first thing that T'Brel noticed were his ears, but he knew that he wasn't Vulcan. He was something else.
"Greetings. We have never seen a vessel such as yours before, we..."
"We do not socialize with lower beings." Illian said.
"I suppose it depends on your definition of lower beings."
Illian seemed to consider this. "You intrigue us, your appearance is like that of people in our myths. We will reserve judgment until you have pr oven yourself." T'Brel already didn't like this Illian character, he was pompous, egotistical, and most of all he was acting a bit Vulcanish. Yes he knew it wasn't a word, but he had made it up with this Academy roommate, when they had to deal with Vulcan's and their superior attitude.
The next few seconds T'Brel saw that Illian was off their viewscreen and he could clearly hear someone say "Who is he calling lower beings?" T'Brel smiled and turned his attention to the Admiral and Commander Dowding to know what they thought of the man and his supposed judgement.

"We will discuss it and decide." Illian said, cutting the communications.
There is something very familar about that race, Kirk thought to himself as he closed his eyes trying to search for the answer.
Kirk could not dwell on it long, his console started to beep at him. Opening his eyes he saw what had caused the sudden alert on his console.
"Admiral, we are being scanned," Kirk said looking over his console, "They appear to only be interested in our tactical abilities."

Luke immediately stood to his feet when KezTrek did, he was a little jumpy at this point...
As the conversation between the Admiral and Illian Luke became more and more uneasy. There was something about this odd looking character that creeped Luke out... yet he couldn't quite place it...
Eventually the channel was closed and Luke turned to KezTrek immediately.
"Not to be trusted, I recommend Yellow Alert." Luke stated simply. He was not at all comfortable but didn't want the Tiger Shark to seem aggressive, just yet.
"Admiral, we are being scanned," Kirk said looking over his console, "They appear to only be interested in our tactical abilities."
Luke walked over to the Tactical console and peered over Kirk's shoulder before looking to KezTrek.

Kirk looked back over his shoulder seeing the Commander in the console's reflection.
"Operations," Kirk said with a smile pointing at his station, "Tacticle." Kirk finished by pointing at the other Borg drone on the bridge.

Luke frowned. The consoles moved... Was his first initial thought then he realised it was he who in fact had made the mistake.
Luke didn't make mistakes.
He smiled at Kirk in a casual way and then headed back to the centre of the Bridge. KezTrek had moved over to helm and appeared to be discussing something quite important with the new helmsman. Luke frowned yet again, it was amazing how much you could miss one seat... maybe he could get the FO chair switched with the helm one.... or was that borderline crazy?
Luke shook his head slightly and approached J'Leera.
"Have you managed to get any scans of the vessel?" He asked.

Kirk noticed that Admiral Keztrek and Commander Dowding were having a bit of a private conversation. It seemed the two were talking about the alien who hailed them.
Kirk still count not put his finger on why the alien looked so familiar. He guessed it had to been a race the Borg had come across, but normally he is able to quickly identify the species and recall it's Borg species number. Kirk hoped that once Thirteen was no longer busy he would get a chance ask if he could identify the alien.
Even though it had only been a matter of minutes after the end of the conversation with the unknwon alien the bridge was not in a state of alert, everything remained very normal. Kirk took the time to check on the medical supplies that were misplaced by the workers back at the star base. Just as Kirk had thought, nobody had gone to get them for the doctor yet.
Kirk watched as it appeared that Commander Dowding and Admiral Keztrek were done talking. Kirk approached Commander Dowding, "Sir, I noticed nobody has taken care of getting those medical supplies to sickbay. I would like to take it upon myself to do it."
Commander Dowding took a moment to think about it and then shrugged his shoulders, "Make it quick."
"Aye sir." Kirk replied.
Kirk stepped onto the back turbo lift, "Cargo Bay 1." He said.
The turbo lift began its decent towards the bottom of the ship. Moments later the doors slid open and Kirk stepped off the lift. He headed for the nearest wall console to check for directions to Cargo Bay 1.
Getting the directions Kirk needed he began walking towards the cargo bay. He noticed the feeling on the ship was rather calm, it seems non of the enlisted personel had caught wind of the encounter of the alien.
After a brief walk Kirk found the cargo bay. Stepping in he found two people operating the cargo bay, one enlisted human male and the second was an enlisted human female. Kirk was surprised both of them were being a bit overly friendly with each other.
"I hope you two can help me." Kirk said.
"Of course sir." The man snapped to attention.
"At ease," Kirk said, "I am looking for cargo container 29 Alpha."
"Let me check my list." He said looking over his PADD, "It's over there in the corner, the orange container."
"Thank you." Kirk said as he started towards the containter.
Opening the container Kirk found several medical kits, more than he coudl carry on his own. It seemed he was going to have to seek help.
"Crewman, could you two give me a hand." Kirk called out.
"Of course." The man replied.
Both of them came over to the container and peered inside. They seemed very interested to know what Kirk needed help with. Kirk now noticed they were both very young, couldn't have been older than 18.
"Both of you take two of these medical packs to sickbay. I will take the last few myself." Kirk said.
"Aye sir." They replied.
The two crewmen picked up two packs each and headed out of the cargo bay. Kirk pulled the last three packs out of the container and set them down on the ground. He closed the lid and pushed on his com badge.
"Lieutenant Kirk to Nurse Nellis."
"Nellis here."
"I am on my way with those missing medical supplies. I just sent two crewmen to drop off the first part of it, I will be up in a second with the last bit of the shipment."
"That is good news, thanks."
"Not a problem. Kirk out."
Kirk picked up two packs, one in each hand, the last one he smashed against his body with his right elbow. I hope it doesn't fall, he thought to himself as he left the cargo bay.

KezTrek felt distinctly uneasy. It had been almost an hour since her somewhat abrupt communication with Illian, he'd reminded her of the old Earth myths of elves, but it was more than that, he was nothing like the little elves Earth parents use to tell their children made toys in the North Pole, he reminded her of wood elves.
Something triggered in KezTrek's mind and she couldn't help but snigger to herself. "Admiral?" Luke asked looking concerned.
"Elves." KezTrek said like it was supposed to make sense, but clearly, from the blank look Luke was giving her it didn't. "Elves, wood elves actually, old Earth myths, my father use to tell me about them when I was a child, I believe the legends told of creatures, like men, who had a beauty beyond reckoning, they were immortal, wisest and fairest of all. I wonder if our new... friends... ever visited Earth?" KezTrek explained.
"Admiral we're being hailed." Kirk announced before they had time to discuss it further.
"You will partake in five challenges. If you succeed, we will further discuss an alliance between our peoples." Illian announced.
"Exactly what do these 'challenges' of yours involve?" KezTrek asked.
"If I were to tell you what was expected of you in these challenges, they would not be very challenging. You will join us for a meal, you must come unarmed and bring only three companions, you have one hour to prepare!" Illian told them, cutting the channel again.
"I'm getting tired of that," KezTrek said irked by Illian's manner.
"Captain, I don't recommend you going over there we don't..." KezTrek raised her hand to prevent Luke continuing.
"I'm going Commander. You however are not, you are to remain on the Tigershark, if all doesn't go well, you are to retreat, don't even *think* about going one-on-one with this ship Commander, or assuming Illian doesn't kill you, I will. Cmdr Laika, Cmdr Thirteen and... Lt Peers, please go and change into your dress uniforms, we've been invited to dinner." KezTrek said as she refrained from smiling at the look on Peers face.
"Admiral, I at least recommend you take Captain Lรถhnen he..."
"Luke, I'm a big girl, can dress myself and everything." KezTrek said amused at how serious Luke seemed to be. She waited a few moments until it seemed clear Luke couldn't think up a suitable response before turning back to the other three. "Go and get changed, meet me in transporter room one in forty minutes. Take good care of my ship Commander." She added to Luke before she followed the others onto the turbolift and headed towards her quarters.
As she pulled out her dress uniform briefly explaining to Daniel what was going on, she decided a quick sonic shower was in order, at the very least it would give her a few more minutes before she had to put on that blasted dress uniform.

On the ship 'Belain Na Le', Illian was reading through the ships databanks and considering the visitors they were about to have. His species had visited this galaxy many hundreds of years ago, his grandfather had been but a child. Clearly the galaxy had advanced since then, many more ships now flew among the stars than were numbered in their records.
The 'Tigershark' intrigued him. The commander... Rear Admiral KezTrek, he assumed Rear Admiral was a title of great importance, was most curious. She had ears such as his own, but was clearly not of his species, was it possible some of his people had once mated with the people of this galaxy and she was distantly related to his species? He did not think so, but still, they intrigued him, there had been several different species at least on what he assumed was the command deck... most curious.
"Le Suilannon, Illian." Illian turned at the voice of his life-mate.
"Mae Govannen, Leoni. Should you not be resting?" he asked gently.
"I have rested, now I am quite restless. Is what I hear true, you invited strangers onto our ship?" she asked.
"News travels quickly. Yes Leoni, it is true. I know what you would say, but I cannot help but be intrigued by them. Do not think too ill of my foolishness." Illian said.
"I do not think you foolish, inquisitive yes, but foolish never. Still, I cannot deign it concerns me." Leoni told him.
"We will take every precaution, now go and rest, take care of yourself and our child," Illian insisted tenderly.
"Very well, I shall go bore myself further by staring at the walls of our room. Le Melon Illian, no thalion." Leoni murmured softly.
"And you, Mae Losto," Illian told her, returning his attention to the database, he wanted to read as much as he could before their guests arrived.

Luke stood mildly stunned in the centre of the Bridge. How did she do that?
Max had taken T'Brel's position almost before the officer had left the chair. Poor T'Brel, Max wasn't being intentionally rude but he had so desperately wanted the CNO position.
Luke looked at the centre chair and then realised how ridiculous he must look like standing there.
"They'll be alright you know." Max said, turning round from his console.
Luke grunted in response. Now Luke was FO he felt even more responsible for the safety of his friends.
Kirk returned to the Bridge and took his post, moments later he addressed Luke.
"Rear Admiral KezTrek, Commander's Laika and Thirteen and Lt. Peers have transported to the vessel Commander." He reported.
"Thank you Lt." Luke said simply, he was at a total loss as to what to do. He was the one that went on away missions... not KezTrek.
He sat down in the centre chair and frowned, he wasn't thinking about anything particular but something KezTrek had mentioned about the species of that ship had set some cogs in motion in Luke's mind. He rose to his feet again and accessed a console at the back of the Bridge.
He loaded the database on Myths and Legends of Earth and there sure enough was a picture of a creature that looked almost identical to that of Illian.
He then punched in a request for the computer to run a match on any species that looked slightly familiar. The obvious pictures came up, Romulans, Vulcans, even Humans and a midget of a species that Luke had never seen before. However a few minutes into his search something caught his eye.
He loaded that particular file and was shocked to see the results.
"Vedran..." He muttered. The native species to Vedra, the planet Luke had spent much of his childhood on before the slavers came. The database informed him that the Vedrans had died out over 1,000 years ago but there had been dubious sightings over the last couple of years suggesting that they were very much alive. The main difference between this Vedran and Illian was the amount of legs, a typical Vedran had four legs but as far as Luke could tell Illian had two... However the resemblance was uncanny, they needed a blood sample...
Luke closed the database and headed back to the centre chair, he sat down and then called Kirk over to talk to him as well as Max.
"I have a mission for you two..." He started.

Off: Hey Commander, I would of course love to switch jobs with you. The tension on the bridge could be broken with a stick. People tried to get back to work, but T'Brel could feel their uneasiness. It was just overwhelming and T'Brel wanted to run out and hide, but knew that he couldnt' do that. After a what seemed to be hours, the familiar alien appeared again. T'Brel really didn't like Illian, he was just plain rude which sadly reminded him even more of Vulcans. T'Brel quickly thought that the Admiral would take Commander Dowding, Kirk, and Commander Thirteen, but when he heard his name his face contorted in confusion. T'Brel didn't have any experience with diplomatic situations, and didn't see the logic of what the half-vulcan Admiral was thinking. T'Brel quickly felt the amusement of the Admiral, she didn't show it, but she was smiling inside. After her orders were complete T'Brel got out of his station. To his suprise, Commander Dowding was at his station like a hawk. T'Brel was confused at this reaction, the Commander had been the CNO on the Tigershark, but he had never seen such an attachment to a station before. With this thought in mind , T'Brel made his way towards his quarters. He quickly took a shower and changed into his dress uniform, something that he hated to do. As he did this he talked into his log, something that he found quite soothing. Personal Log Lt. Junior Grade T'Brel Peers Stardate 2391.0928.I have just met the rudest person in the galaxy, probably ruder than my grandfather. You know how he was, so I won't go into details. It was quite strange how we met up with this Illian. Jon just chose this sector and he appeared. After tense moment, the bridge crew went into a frenzy. After a short time, Illian once again appeared on the viewscreen and told the Admiral that she had to choose three people to go with her for dinner. Dinner, I know strange. Stranger was that she chose me to go with her. I have just finished getting dressed so I'll finish this later. End Log.

Luke grinned at the confused and a little concerned looking faces that stared back at him. In fact, Max seemed to be more worried that he had yet again lost the helm.
"I need you two to get me blood samples." Luke said simply.
"Of what?" Max replied bluntly.
"Our new 'friends'." Luke replied.

"I have no idea how you are going to do this Lt. They can not find out what you are doing and you can not board their ship, and no one can know what you are doing." Luke paused. "I'm not going to force you two into this, it's your decision."

KezTrek waited in the transporter room for the other members of her team, not bothering to hide the smirk at the obvious discomfort they were feeling in their dress uniforms when they did finally appear. She didn't know anyone who actually enjoyed wearing their dress uniforms.
"We've been sent co-ordinates to beam to, we'll do so in a few moments, I trust none of you are concealing any weapons." KezTrek gave Thirteen a glace.
A chorus of "No Admiral," came back at her.
"Good. Chief, try and keep a lock on our commbadge." KezTrek told the man standing at the transport station.
"KezTrek to Dowding, we're about to beam over... and commander... behave while I'm gone." KezTrek warned, almost like she could *feel* he was up to something that was going to get them into trouble.
"Energise." She ordered taking her place on the transporter platform with the others.
The first thing she was aware of was that this was no ordinary ship, it seemed almost alive, like the ship itself was a living, breathing, entity. The floors and walls were all greens and browns, while the ceiling looked almost translucent, but for a slight blue tint, if she didn't know better, she'd think she was outside.
"Welcome to 'Belain Na Le'," Illian startled them.
"Thank you for inviting you, this is an intriguing design." KezTrek said bowing slightly as Illian had.
Illian didn't reply but lead them through the ship finally stopping in what KezTrek presumed to be a mess hall of sorts, she assumed it was the Captain's private mess, it didn't seem big enough to service an entire crew.
The table was covered with an assortment of food in all the colours of the rainbow and more. Some of the dishes steamed and the room was filled with a mixture of smells that teased at KezTrek's delectate olfactory nerves. The room was much the same as the halls had been, with the green and brown mixing and merging shapelessly, but it was strangely calming.
"Please, sit," Illian invited, showing that he at least had some manners. The table was low and they say on large cushions, KezTrek sitting beside Illian, her three officers beside her while four of Illian's own people sat on the other side looking across at them.
"You mentioned challenges, I'm curious as to what they are, I won't allow anything that endangers my crew." KezTrek said as she accepted a drink from one of the servers.
"Danger, is a relative term, for example, even now your crew plots against us, a way to rescue you from us if it becomes necessary, if we attempt to harm you and this is not all that runs through their minds, they would take our secrets from us, that we do not give freely. This is a danger to us, should it be allowed?" Illian asked calmly.
"I told my crew they were not to engage your ship." KezTrek replied.
Illian nodded his head as if aware of this already. "Nae, they do not listen as well as you would like them too."
"Youโre a telepath?" KezTrek asked.
"As are you, but you have not attempted to read my thoughts, why?" Illian asked.
"It's rude to go poking where you aren't wanted." KezTrek said, clearly irked by his intrusion into her mind and the minds of her crew.
"It would not be the first time however, would it?" Illian phrased his words as a question, but he already knew the answer, KezTrek didn't need to tell him.
"But this is disheartening conversation; our time would be better spent on other subjects, the worth of life perhaps." As Illian spoke the others at the table rose and pulled weapons on them. "You have a choice to make Admiral, one of these three will die, the question is which, the decision lies with you."
KezTrek's eyes narrowed. "If you seriously expect me to choose..."
"Oh you will, because if you do not, they will all die... and do not trouble yourself with contact your ship, teams have been dispatched, your crew and your ship are mine now, until I say otherwise. Now make your choice Admiral... who shall die?" Illian's face was calm, there was no hint of malice in his face, or his voice. There was no fun in this for him, simply... arrogance... arrogance that he could do this and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
The Tigershark was overrun with his people, who's weapons were by far more advanced than their own and she was faced with the choice no Captain ever wanted to make... one crewman's life for another.

I need you two to get me blood samples." Luke said simply.
"Of what?" Max replied bluntly.
"Our new 'friends'." Luke replied.
Kirk didn't really know what to say, it seemed like an almost impossible task to accomplish since they knew nothing of the ship, it's tactical abilities or the type of sensors it was using.
"I have no idea how you are going to do this Lt. They can not find out what you are doing and you can not board their ship, and no one can know what you are doing." Luke paused. "I'm not going to force you two into this, it's your decision."
After a brief moment of silence an idea popped into Kirk's head. He had to think about it a couple ways before he could explain it to his the Commanders.
"I've got an idea." Kirk finally said.
"Lets hear it." Commander Dowding said.
"We can't use regular sensors to scan the alien ship or else they will be able to pick it up. I suggest we mask the signal of our bio scans with the heavy output long range celestial scanners found in astrometrics. The would pick up our long range scans, but due to the intensity of the scan we could slip in the shot bio scan almost undetected. This of course is under the assumption that they have a sensor systems very similar to ours."

T'Brel quickly understood that no one wanted to be in there dress uniforms. It had not just been him, what was even stranger was the fact that the Admiral also didn't like wearing it. Out of all the people, he thought that admirals would love to wear there dress uniforms.
T'Brel acknowledged everyone in the transporter room and made his way towards the end of the transporter pad. There T'Brel waited for all the preparations to be ready. He would never admit it, but he was nervous to meet these people. It probably was the familiar look of them or the fact that this species was so much more powerful than the Federation.
The first thing that he became aware of was that this was no ordinary ship, it seemed almost alive, like the ship itself was a living, breathing, entity. The floors and walls were all greens and browns, while the ceiling looked almost translucent, but for a slight blue tint, if she didn't know better, she'd think she was outside.
"Welcome to 'Belain Na Le'," Illian startled them. T'Brel had not heard him coming towards them which was very strange, since all Vulcan's had very good hearing. Illian motioned for the party to walk with him to what seemed to be a private room. They were quickly joined by four other people, whom T'Brel thought were probably senior officer on this ship.
T'Brel quickly tried to block his mind from Illian or any of his friends. This caused Illian to look at T'Brel, for a wierd reason T'Brel felt dirty, violated, and disgusted. He didn't know where these feelings were coming from, since this had happened to T'Brel before. He quickly realized it was the thoughts of his fellow officer by his side. He had accidentally tapped into their emotions and mind.
~So you are a telepath as well,~ Illian said ignoring what Admiral Keztrek was saying. T'Brel knew that no one had heard that except himself. Illian was talking to him in his mind and their was no way that he could shut him out.
~Get out~ T'Brel screamed in his mind, he was holding his extreme anger in, but felt that if Illian didn't leave soon it was going to spill over. The next moment he realized that their wasn't any other presence in his mind. T'Brel quickly regrouped himself and started to listen to the conversation at hand.
"You have a choice to make Admiral, one of these three will die, the question is which, the decision lies with you." T'Brel quickly became alarmed at what Illian had said. T'Brel automatically thought that it was his fault that this was happening, but he quickly realized that this must of been Illian's plan all along. T'Brel quickly heard the Admiral said that there was no way she could choose to kill one of her own crew.
T"Brel's mind quickly turned to the Tigershark, they of course had already been overrun by now and there could be some casualties. He couldn't let this happen.
"Admiral I....."

As soon as J'Leera heard the order to go change into her dress uniform, she immediately jumped from the chair and hurried to her quarters. On the way, she couldn't help but to wonder who these people were. They seem very familiar somehow, but not from my world. I think it might have been something I've read before... she frowned. Of course she read many hundreds of books and journals, so it could have been anything.
She hurried back and met Admiral Keztrek in the transporter room. While she waited, she kept adjusting her uniform. It was so uncomfortable that she wondered if the designers were playing a joke on them or if they had been drunk while making them. She chuckled at the last thought, but no one noticed.
Soon they were able to transport over to the alien ship and the first thing she noticed was how different the ship was. "It looks alive..." she breathed. She glanced over the entire room, but could not determine where the light was coming from, much less the power that was being used.
She was so engrossed in her observations that she did not notice the alien come up behind them. "Welcome to 'Belain Na Le'," Illian startled them.
J'Leera spun around in surprise. His steps had been so light, that not one of them had heard him approach. Even T'Brel who possessed Vulcan hearing had not heard him come up either.
They soon found themselves being led to another room; perhaps the Captain's quarters? and found a table laden with all sorts of delicious smelling foods. Illian gestured for them to sit and they did so gratefully, still amazed at all the sights and smells.
Admiral Keztrek and Illian began to talk about the 'challenges' that were being presented and J'Leera was enjoying herself so much that she was quite startled when the others suddenly jumped up and pulled weapons on them.
"You have a choice to make Admiral, one of these three will die, the question is which, the decision lies with you," Illian said and all of them looked at him in bewilderment. This was very unexpected!
J'Leera was too shocked to say anything, but as T'Brel began to speak, she elbowed him in the side and shot him a look to silence him. This is the Admiral's decision. We must remain silent or it will be worse for us all! she thought furiously, wishing that she was telepathic, but instead she mouthed the word 'no' hoping that he'd understand.
She turned back and saw that Keztrek seemed quite calm. She didn't know if she was going to choose or how they were going to get out, but J'Leera didn't want to see anyone picked over her.

"Interesting idea Lieutenant." Commander Dowding said, "Proceed with your plan."
"Aye sir." Kirk said.
Heading for the turbo lift his thoughts wondered to T'Brel who was now on board the alien ship. The thought of getting a chance at first contact with a newer species was exciting and getting a chance to sneak a peak at their biological make up would provide to be more fascinating.
After a brief walk Kirk made his way into Astrometrics. He was impressed with the size of the room, it appeared to have more consoles and controls than the older system he was told the Tiger Shark had on board.
Just as Kirk was about to start working on the scans the ship went to red alert. Commander Dowding's voice came over the com system, "Intruder alert! All security personnel respond!"
Kirk was about to leave Astrometrics when he heard phaser fire outside the door. Turning around he found a locker that held small hand held phasers. Opening the locker after he put in his security code Kirk pulled out a single phaser and a tricorder, he then closed the locker and locked it again with his security code.
Before leaving Astrometrics Kirk walked over to the console and began both a ship wide scan and programed in a wireless connection to a operations PADD. Looking at the PADD Kirk saw several unknown life forms firing at several Starfleet security officers right in front of the door to Astrometrics.
"I do not think that is a wise way to go." Kirk said to himself looking around for another exit.
He another way out of the room, a single ladder that connected to the Jerreries Tubes on this deck. Kirk shrugged and made his way up the ladder and opened the panel at the ceiling climbing into the tube on the deck above Astrometrics.
I had better make my way to the bridge, Kirk thought to himself.
