OOC: since Lieutenant Atkins was the only MACO left on the ship, I'll assume that the reinforcements are Starfleet security.
'Yes of course, send down every available aid to our teams,' Logan replied to Atkins' request. Atkins nodded his reply and prepared to send as many men as he could down, not forgetting that it was possible that Challenger itself could be boarded. 'Sgt. there is one more thing,' Logan said, 'after you are done I want you to man the tatical station. I know that it isn't protocol, but I still want you on the trigger.' 'Lieutenant, Commander' Atkins prompted 'Eh?' Logan looked confused as Atkins reading his rank out. 'I mean, I'm a lieutenant. Smith is the Sergeant. Silver bar is lieutenant.' He tapped his insignia' 'Oh, right' 'And I'm flattered by the request, but I have no idea how to work the controls and starship tactics are much different from infantry ones. I'm afraid I'd be a poor gunman. I could, however, give advice on when to engage and ideas on how. And of course I'd be useful if they came onto our bridge' Atkins smiled <Logan>
Rickman saw the shimmering of crates and ordered the nearest few men to help clear them. Then came the shimmering of men. He looked at the 15 Starfleet security men armed with somewhat puny weapons and pyjamas. 'They're going to die' Smith nudged him 'Issue the Marines with the projectile guns. Give the plasma rifles to the Starfleet men. If they try using our guns they'll probably break their shoulders. Keep ten of them as a reserve force in the buildings and bring five of them to me.' Rickman was relieved at the presence now of two GPMG's and one sniper rifle in their armament. That said, he was unsure how well the Vulcan was going to take such 'barbaric' weapons so intended to keep them secret for as long as possible.
Soon, five Starfleet men stood before him and had been kitted with light body armour and the MACO rifles. 'I'm going to assume you all have some basic training in infantry combat. Your task is simple. As soon as the enemy come into the field, you will sneak out and harrass their ranks with fire. Remember, fire and move at all times.' 'Which field, sir?' asked one 'The field of combat. It's an expression' 'Oh' 'Is this a suicide mission, major?' another witheringly asked, the highest ranking of the five men. 'Not if you're careful, lieutenant' Rickman glared back 'and you stand a better chance than the men in the buildings if they come in starships. Rickman considered that probably the men were so used to fighting in corridors and such that in fact their instinct was to prefer it by now. Still, even if this gambit failed, the enemy would be expecting the usual weaponry and not the invisible, noisy, terrifying death of the machine guns. 'All units report in' Rickman ordered through his helmet mic. All units reported in as ready and Rickman went to find Saryn <Saryn>

The situation was looking up, the human and andorian crews had worked together to get Weytahn's planetary defensive capabilities to maximum. In addition, the Andorian Warships Kentari, Talan, Bomar and T'Shiik had joined the Sorna and Challenger in orbit around Weytahn. This meant that when the Romulans arrived, they would have a fighting chance of holding off the Romulans.
"You," said Sai'x to his first officer, "will command our forces on the surface, I must return to the ship to make battle preparations; the Romulans will be here soon. Remember, we are allies with the Starfleeters, working together here is our only chance for survival."
"I understand sir."
Nodding to his first officer, Sai'x made his way to Saryn.
"Captain," he said, "I am returning to my ship now. Will you be commanding Challenger or remaining on the surface when the Romulans arrive?"
<Saryn>
"Understood. Good luck, to all of us." Said Sai'x. With that, he returned to the Sorna...to wait.
--------------------------
Mercifully, resolving the dispute had not taken long and Captain Adams was now dining at the Captain's table aboard the starship Enterprise, on his way to rendez-vous with Challenger. He was quite pleased to have the experience, since he had never had the opportunity to dine at the Captain's Table when he had served on Enterprise as a junior science officer.
"So how well have the Starfleet and MACOs blended on Challenger?" Asked Archer.
"Quite well, on the whole," Said Adams, "although sometimes I get the impression that the two crews don't always respect each others' abilities as much as they should."
"How are things going with the transporter?" Asked Commander Tucker, "Do you use it a lot."
"I try to," Said Adams, "but I have a bit of a hard time convincing some of my crew that it's safe."
"I guess we had the incident in the Delphic Expanse to help us want to use it more." Said Tucker.
"From what I hear, they don't use it much on Discovery, but maybe that's because Ben's terrified of it." Said Archer with a smirk.
"I thought that Captain Tsang was widely regarded as one of the bravest officers in Starfleet?" Remarked Commander T'Pol.
"Hey, the best of us have our weaknesses." Said Adams.
Just then, a call came over the intercom from the bridge.
"Go ahead." Said Archer.
"Captain, we're receiving a priority transmission from Starfleet, for you and Captain Adams."
Archer frowned, "Put it through to my ready room, we'll be right there."
Once they arrived in Archer's ready room, the Captain activated his screen. It was Admiral Gardner, he was wearing a grave expression.
"Jon, Shawn, there's a situation developing at Weytahn. Nine Romulan warships are on course for the planet. The crews of Challenger and the Sorna have managed to get most of the planetary defences operational and they have been joined by four Andorian warships. I am ordering all starships in range to join them; it looks like this will be the first major battle of this war. The Romulans must not be permitted to take Weytahn. Good luck."
Adams and Archer just looked at each other, then headed directly for the bridge.
"Travis, set a course for Weytahn, Warp 5."

OOC: Everyone say hello to Senator/Admiral Valdore. He's the Romulan seen in the United Arc on Enterprise. Though on the show he's only a scientist. I think it would be best for us to have someone playing the bad guy too, lol.
IC:
The mood on the bridge of the ship was one of anticipation, he had given up his seat on the Senate to lead this fleet into battle. It would be a glorious day for the Romulan Empire. His fleet would meet those in the adjacent systems of Weytahn.
They would meet the enemy and destroy them, this battle would cement his name in history. His thoughts were interrupted by an unwelcomed report.
"Admiral, our sensors report that five Starfleet ships are on there way."
"I thought we dealt with them," he angrily responded.
"Sir, the Vulcans were resued quicker than we anticipated," the Romulan responded. The Romulan was going to say something, but he hesitated. Valdore knew that he had bad news to report and he was afraid of his reaction.
"What is it subcommander?" Valdore asked.
"The Vulcans they have sent out four warships out as well," the subcommander reported.
"How many do we have near Weytahn?" Valdore asked.
"Seven," the subcommander reported.
"We still have the advantage," Valdore responded," contant the other fleet tell them to prepare. We will engage the enemy as planned. Tell General Valok to send down his best teams to take the planet and to engage the enemy only after we start the attack."
"Understood," the subcommander said," one hour and fifteen minutes until we arrive."

Sai'x gripped the arms of his chair on the bridge of the Sorna. He had commanded the ship for 12 years but had never been involved in a conflict of this magnitude.
"How long till the Romulans get here?" He asked no one in particular.
"15 mintes."
"Alright men, this is it. Fight your hardest, fight bravely, that is all anyone can ask. If we die today, we die for our world, for our people and for our new-found friends. Whether we live or we die, we will be honoured among the greatest of the Imperial Guard.
--------------------
"How long to Weytahn?" Adams asked Mayweather.
"35 minutes sir."
Adams was pacing at the front of the bridge of Enterprise.
"Have you installed the new prototype sheild generators?"
"Yes." Said T'Pol.
"Shawn, stop worrying, we'll get there soon enough." Said Captain Archer.
Adams sighed, "I should be on Challenger."

::Saryn glanced at his landing party, receiving nods from everyone.::
[Saryn] "I shall remain on the surface with my team and attempt to defend this colony. We are working on getting the defensive systems online."
::The Vulcan checked his phase pistol, making sure it was fully charged. Like many, he had never seen a Romulan before but knowing how xenophobic a race it was, he doubted they would send actual Romulans down to fight them. Saryn suspected they would send allies or socalled 'dogs of war' to do the dirty work for them.::
[Saryn] "Captain Sai'x, will you be commanding the defense from orbit?"
::Saryn glanced around at his team again, casting a semi-concerned look at the doctor.::
[Saryn] "Doctor, perhaps it will be better if you beam back aboard the Challenger. It could get quite violent down here, you may not want to stay. Everyone else has the same choice, there will be no repercussions if you choose to return to the ship."

In a short time, a small base of operations had been constructed within the main structure. The main point of it was the radar screen in the middle. Any landing transports would be spotted and any advancing groups large or obvious enough would be detected as well. The building itself now generated a disrupting field enough to make teleporting in impossible due to the incredible risk. However, the anti-weapon defenses were not yet up. Rickman stood with Saryn and the other few in the command group; Saryn, Rickman, the Andorian commanding officer and Smith. T'Kara was also there.
'Doctor, perhaps it will be better if you beam back aboard the Challenger. It could get quite violent down here, you may not want to stay. Everyone else has the same choice, there will be no repercussions if you choose to return to the ship.' Rickman interjected as much as one can when the other has actually finished speaking. 'Actually, T'Kara, I would appreciate it if you would remain here. The Challenger can still use all its weapons with most the crew dead, but we need as many up as we can. We can't teleport back in because of the same field protecting us from their teleporters, so we need minor wounds treated here as much as we can. Corporal Grey can serve as your bodyguard as much as possible on the field.' <T'Kara>
Rickman also spoke over the MACO helmet comm. 'Despite what Saryn says, noone's going anywhere. We're stuck here and we're staying here. I'm not leaving and neither are you, unless you don't think Marines can stomach combat anymore.'
He knew that jolt to their egos would be enough. And if the Marines weren't going to run then neither would the Starfleet men and nor would the Andorians in case either of the groups lost face. They needed every man on the ground, not half of them running off scared. Of course the men would feel the fear, but they needed it to stay alert. 'Sir, the Romulans will be here soon.' Smith prodded 'Right you are, sergeant.' Rickman turned to go but looked briefly at Saryn 'Try not to be shot' he advised and performed the strange little wave he had seen Vulcans do before instead of shaking hands.
In the operations area, Rickman saw the ten reserves in the building looking like this was their first fight. It probably was their first one like this; all out and no prisoners. 'Is everyone else staying?' the youngest looking asked Rickman could see he was asking in case anyone else was going and he could go too. 'They're all staying. Either way, it's safer here. If the Challenger is destroyed then everyone dies. Here, you're surrounded by men whose only job is to save your arse as long as you're saving theirs. You can do more good here than there.' The Starfleeter nodded and Rickman walked off, but he heard one last query addressed to Smith. 'Why us, sergeant?' 'Because we're here, son. Just us and nobody else'

Valdore's fleet was ready and undoubtedly so were the enemy forces on the planet. His reports told him that the planet's defenses had been taken out in the last attack, so there would be little resistance from the planet. The only problem were the ships in orbit and the fleet of ships that was hours away. If this was going to work they needed to destroy the allied ships as quickly as possible and deal them a humiliating defeat.
"Admiral we will enter the system in two minutes," Solvek, Valdore's aid reported.
"Good tell the fleet to begin firing as soon as we decloak," Valdore ordered," it will take there sensors a few seconds to realized that we are there. That should be enough for us to deal major damage."
"Understood," Solvek said as the ship went into battle ready mode.
------------------
There was a complete silence on the bridge of the Challenger. No one dared speak, they all were thinking of what was to come and Jack was doing something that he hadn't done in a very long time, he was praying. The six ships were ready for what was to come and they were going to face the fear together.
Jack looked at everyone on the bridge and knew that they were ready to do there jobs. The only problem was that Jack wasn't sure that he could lead them in battle. He had always relied on Captain Adams, but he was not here yet.
"Commander we have nine ships decloaking to our port bow," the science officer reported," and there firing."
"Tell the Kentari and Talan to back us up and fire on the ship," Jack ordered.
"Which one?" the tactical officer asked.
"Choose one," Jack ordered as the Challenger was hit by the Romulan's weapons.
"Commander three of the ships are heading down to the planet," science reported.
"Follow them," Jack ordered at the same time the ship was hit with a barrage of weapon's fire. Jack knew then that the Challenger would not be able to stop them from attacking the surface.
"Commander the Bomar has taken heavy damage, the Kentari is aiding the ship," tactical reported.
"Cover them!," Jack ordered as picked himself up from the floor.
"Commander our sensor's show 7 more ships decloaking on the other side of the planet," tactical reported," their Romulan!"

::Saryn ducked for cover as suddenly bouts of fire came raining down on them from the sky. He gripped his phase pistol tightly in his right hand, making sure his communicator was safely tucked away in his uniform. As he wasn't starfleet, he wasn't wearing the standard starfleet coveralls and there wasn't much room to store necessary equipment.::
[Saryn] "Into cover everyone! Take up positions to defend this colony and especially the medical facility!"
::He had to shout to get over the noise of the fire, and he had to dive aside when one of the shots spouted up dirt where he'd been standing only a second earlier. Through the dust, figures with their faces covered were approaching, aiming their weapons at the starfleet team. Saryn aimed is phase pistol and took one of the hooded figures down.::
[Saryn] "Marines, get ready! The enemy has engaged."

"Captain, seven more Romulan ships are becoming visible on the other side of the planet!" said Reed, as Enterprise dropped out of warp.
"What?" Said Archer and Adams at the same time.
"Jon, I should get back to Challenger. Thanks for the ride." Said Adams heading for the elevator. As the door closed he made eye contact with Archer, both men wondering if they'd ever see the other one again.
He materialized on the Challenger transporter pad as the ship shook with weapons fire. He sprinted to the nearest lift and within seconds was on the bridge.
"Captain!" Said Logan as Adams entered the bridge.
"Good to see you too Jack."
Logan took his station and Adams took his seat in the command chair.
"What's the status of the surface to space weapons?" Asked Adams.
Jack replied, "They've got the weapons online but are still having trouble with the sensors."
"Coordinate with all the other allied ships and get their sensor data down to the surface, hopefully they'll be able to use it to take out some of these ships."
<Logan/Saryn/Rickman>
As they were hit again, Adams shouted, "Return fire!"

The first landing party of enemies came in short range of the perimeter. Naturally, they didn't last long, but Rickman suspected they were nothing but a forlorn hope to begin testing the ground resistance's resolve. In fact, they had met with one of the Andorian/Starfleet sections of the line so had only met the expected resistance. They had not yet heard the noisy Terran weapons. Another small ship flew low overheard, pelting the ground with suppressing fire. Rickman assumed that either the empty transports were covering for the full ones or that they were providing their own cover whilst teleporting in more men. Given the radius of the disruption field, the second option meant that the ground troops would be some way out. A close look at the ship now attempting to redefine the geographical contours suggested the latter since most of the ships had no obvious door for a mass troop deployment.
A beep on the scanner announced new data. Oddly it wasn't as vague as usual, suggesting Challenger was beaming something to them. The shot was nothing but a snapshot, but at least they could see where the Romulans were right now. 'Send our five into that group there. Harrass them into making a quick charge.'
The five starfleet men pre picked for the job moved out into the forest. A few minutes later, a comm report came in. 'Major Rickman, we have sighted and enaged the enemy. We have two men down and are retreating under fire. We have visual confirmation of the Romulans, they---' Amid a sizzling, the comm went dead. 'So we don't know what they look like still.' Rickman commented to Smith. A new signal came in '--different people. Green ones' Sizzle, again 'Orions, sir?' 'Would make sense for a jungle fight' Rickman put out a general comm 'The Romulans are using allied ground forces too. If it's not Vulcan, human or Andorian, shoot it' Still, the vague green blob that indicated groups of enemies moved towards the northern side. 'Keep three teams on the south side and move the rest to north' Rickman told Smith The green blobs had overdone their confidence. As powerful as their numbers were, they were only expecting the standard energy guns. A loud clatter announced the disappearance of one blob, then another, but various zaps, sizzles and shouts suggested they weren't giving up yet. 'MEDIC!' came a call on the comm 'They're taking over the north east corner!' 'T'Kara, see what you can do' Rickman ordered, then to Smith 'reinforce the north east corner with two teams from the west. When they can't take it, send the last ten Starfleeters'

Several of the smaller Romulan ships had been taken by surprise by the surface-to-space weapons and had been destroyed. This evened the odds somewhat.
Several of the allied ships had come under heavy fire, however. Luckily, Challenger was not one of them.
"Sir!" Reported Logan, the Kentari's reactor is going critical!"
Adams surveyed the burning Andorian ship on the viewscreen.
"Okay Jack, work with Andy as fast as you can. Transport as many of the Kentari crew as possible to Challenger."
"Captain, that's never been done before!" Protested Logan.
"There's no time, Jack, do it!"
<Logan/Kirk>
As they worked, Adams tapped the panel on the arm of his chair, "Adams to landing party, what's your status?"

Over the now sporadic sound of gunfure, Rickman began to heard a much larger pulse than usual. Checking behind him, he saw the larger weapons on top of the structure begin to spit into the sky their deadly venom. Instantly he was on the comm. 'There's no chance there are any active ground weapons on the structure are there?' Rickman asked Smith 'No, sir. Seems to be quite common not to bother with them' 'So I've noticed'
A large explosion followed by some reduction in the enemy's fire suggested that the mortar team, two Marines Rickman had appointed to the task, had found their regrouping spot using Smith and the terrain scanner.
Rickman's comm beeped an external call into his ear. 'Adams to landing party, what's your status?' Rickman could no longer see the battlefield clearly since taking the reserve force to plug a gap. Taking the lead himself was probably a mistake, but he had a backup, namely Atkins, but Smith's backup, Corporal Grey was amongst the wounded so Smith suddenly had that precious commodity of battlefield survival; indispensability. 'Keep holed here, Lieutenant' he ordered to the senior fleeter and dashed back to the base of operations. 'Where's the casualty list?' he asked Smith Smith handed him the list, there were a few more on it since he had made the push out with the ten backup men of the human force and several of the alien group. Rickman commed Atkins to report the list to Adams since Adams might not have been in the same place now, but Atkins' job was to keep contact. 'Rickman to Atkins, casualty list is as follows; dead, 13 Andorians, six Starfleet, one Marine. Wounded, seven Andorians, one Starfleet, two Marines. Enemy is slowly breaking off engagement, casualties unknown. The installation shields will be back on in'- he glanced at Smith, who held up three fingers- 'three minutes, then it's just mopping up' Rickman couldn't see where Saryn was; he assumed the Vulcan would be in the logical place, inside and away from unnecessary danger; once the installation's shields were up then the enemy forces would be cut in two since they seemed now rather spread out to avoid the shelling from the mortar and the installation shield spread out to about five hundred yards.

::Saryn panted for breath as he hurled himself into the raging battle together with the contingent of Starfleet security officers. There were many wounded, and the death toll on both sides was still unknown.
The Vulcan could see the corpses lying on the battlefield as he glanced over the barrel of his phase pistol. The hooded and armoured figures were charging his way now, but his team shot them down before they came close. The remaining creatures beamed away, all but one. The figure stood frozen in the screen of dust and smoke, missed by Saryn and his team.
With a cry, Ensign Caruthers went down, clutching at her chest; she was dead before her body hit the sand. Saryn froze midstride, gazing about.::
[Saryn] "One of them remained behind! Find him, and if possible detain him!"
::Around him, the securty team scouted around for the remaining enemy. Saryn relied mostly on his sharp sight and hearing, but even he saw nothing. Until he felt a light pressure against his back.::
[Enemy] "Drop your weapon or I will kill you."
::Saryn let the phase pistol drop from his grasp and slowly raised his hands to show he was otherwise unarmed. Then he turned around but could not make out an expression on the face that was shrouded by the hood and a partial face mask. Saryn's face was expressionless as he stared at his captor.::
[Saryn] "Starfleet will not negotiate with terrorists. And I will not reveal any secrets to you, I have been trained to withstand torture."
[Enemy]::Laughing:: "So brave, you Vulcans. Stupid too, and cocky. You think you know everything. Well let me tell you something, you don't know everything. And we will conquer this planet one way or the other, if not today, then tomorrow we will. And you will answer the questions I ask you. Why are you here? What are you doing on a Human vessel..."
[Saryn] "You talk too much, and you do not listen. I will not answer your questions."
::Meanwhile, Saryn's communicator started beeping, but the Vulcan stoically ignored it's call. He kept his eyes on his enemy, while he still held his hands in sight.::
[Saryn] "They will come looking for me if I do not answer it."
::The hooded figure tore the communicator from the Vulcan's pocked, threw it in the dirt and smashed it with the boot of his heel.::
[Enemy] "Now they won't."
::He raised his weapon and pressed it against Saryn's chest.::
[Enemy] "Where are your team members. They seem to have deserted you."
::Saryn shrugged.::
[Saryn] "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. If it takes sacrificing my life to save them, so be it. And I know you are going to pull the trigger of your projectile weapon, you are only stalling for you know I will not answer your questions, and you also know you cannot force me."
::Undeterred, the captor gazed at the Vulcan, then cocked his weapon.::
[Enemy] "Indeed, and what a shame we don't have the means on our ships to torture a Vulcan. It would've been fun to see you break."
::Without another word, he pulled the trigger on his projectile weapon and soundlessly, the Vulcan sagged down into the sand. He delivered a vicious kick into the Vulcan's ribs, smiling in satisfaction when he heard a sickening cracking sound. Then, without looking back, the enemy beamed back to his ship, while a single surviving but wounded security officer slowly crawled up to his team leader. He flipped open his communicator::
[Crewman Amari Cani]::breathing hard and whispering:: "Medic! I need a medic!"

Kirk had been waiting in the transporter room this entire time. He had been responsible for beaming down supplies and to beam up any seriously wounded personnel if things got out of hand. Things got out of hand quicker than he expected.
During the battle Kirk kept an open COM with the bridge as to receive orders instantly from the bridge, and because of this move he was able to overhear the constant updates of the failing systems on the Kantari.
"Okay Jack, work with Andy as fast as you can. Transport as many of the Kentari crew as possible to Challenger."
"Captain, that's never been done before!" Protested Logan.
"There's no time, Jack, do it!"
Kirk was punching in commands as quickly as he could on the transporter station, "Jack just get your [word deleted] back here! I could use another hand."
The constant sounds of battle only hardened Kirk's resolve to save the lives on the Kentari. With in a couple of minutes Kirk had the first of what seemed to be an impossible number of survivors on board the Challenger.
Jack then came rushing into the room and headed straight to the second transporter station as any good trained officer would have done. Kirk noticed Jack but was more focused on making sure the transporter settings were 100% correct.
In an almost to calm tone of voice Kirk said, "Jack I need you to take some power from the back up systems and slowly feed them into the transporter. I also need you to watch and make sure we don't burn anything out with this frantic transporting we are doing."
Jack replied and went right into doing the work. Kirk continued to transport people on board the Challenger, but with every rapid fire transport he feared the calculated loss of one life. This was something that had never been done and the lives of the Kentari hung in the balance.

Jack didn't feel good about there rescue plan, but Captain Adams was correct in saying that it was the only thing that could be done. Andy was the expert when it came to this technology, but over the time he had trained the senior crew in using the system.
"Jack I need you to take some power from the back up systems and slowly feed them into the transporter. I also need you to watch and make sure we don't burn anything out with this frantic transporting we are doing."
For a brief second, Jack turned to look at his best friend. There was no need for him to explain what could happen to the ship if something did indeed burn out. Normally he would feel a sense of exhilaration attempting never done before, but right now he was responsible for lives of an entire crew.
"Andy the power is trickling in at .023 percent increments every five seconds," Jack reported," as for the systems I'll do the best I can."
This of course was not comforting, but at least they knew what they would be working with. Without them saying a word they began the transportation of the Kentari crew. As the first batch of Andorian's were transported to the Challenger, a torpedo hit one of the nacelles.
"Andy we are loosing some bio signatures," Jack reported as he boosted power to the transporters. The extra juice did it's job, but at a terrible price. "We have lost containment of the right nacelle and it has started a cascading effect."
"Jack if you don't stop it, we are all dead!" Andy yelled as he continued with his work. There was no other way to do it, he would have to shut down one of the nacelles.
"Sorry, Captain, but we won't be able to use that nacelle," Jack reported and immediately began transporting again. The only problem was that they were being indicated with calls for help from the planet.
"Andy, keep transporting the crew of the Kentari," Jack said as he locked down on multiple lifesigns. Jack found that this was ineffective and slow, but he didn't know any other way.
"Jack, the Kentari is loosing containment, it will go in five seconds," Captain Adams reported. Jack immediately transported form the planet and tried to get one more in from the Kentari. He boosted his transporters as much as he could and hoped for luck.

Adams shielded his eyes as, on the viewscreen, the Kentari exploded brightly.
"How many?" Adams asked the officer currently manning Jack's communications station.
"Out of 85 crewmembers, we got 15, Enterprise got 12 and the Sorna got 10."
Logan's voice was then audible on the bridge, "Captain, what shall we do witht he Kentari survivors?"
"Send the injured to sickbay, otherwise, we can use every hand we can get, send the rest to work where they're needed, then get back up here!"
<Logan>
Then he spoke to Kirk, "Andy, we just lost a nacelle, it sounds like you have a lot of work to do."
<Kirk>
"Captain," Said the ensign at tactical, "6 ships are entering the vicinity."
"Romulans?" Asked Adams, dreading the answer.
"No sir, Atlantis, Discovery and Endeavour and the Vulcan ships Ti'Nar, Vi'Mur and Trenek."
Adams' heart leapt; they had managed to hold off until reinforcements arrived, now, they may well win the battle.
"Sir, the Andorian warship T'Shiik is coming under heavy fire from several Romulan vessels, Discovery and Endeavour are moving to assist."
"Let's help 'em out," Said Adams, "Fire phase cannons on the nearest vessel."

The shock wave from the explosion of the Kentari shook the Challenger and both Kirk and Jack knew it was over. Both Kirk and Jack stood silently with the survivors of the Kentari their faces showing their gratitude that they were beamed away before the Kentari exploded.
Finally Captain Adams voice came over the COM, "How many?" Adams asked the officer currently manning Jack's communications station.
"Out of 85 crew members, we got 15, Enterprise got 12 and the Sorna got 10."
Kirk was shocked at the number, "Only fifteen." Kirk said to himself as he stood over the transporter station.
Jack say Kirk's disappointed state and decided to speak up first, "Captain, what shall we do witht he Kentari survivors?"
Adams replied to Jack's question and the Kentari survivors began to file out of the room in a hurry. Jack walked over to Kirk and silently placed a single hand on the Engineer's back. There was no need for words, they both thought they would have saved more lives than they already had.
"Andy, we just lost a nacelle, it sounds like you have a lot of work to do."
Instantly Kirk's attitude changed, it was back to business, now his life and the lives of his friends and fellow crew members were on the line.
"Ah sir." Kirk replied leaving the transporter room in a hurry.
The ships corridors were busy with officers and enlisted men alike as they scrambled back to battle stations. Medical personnel rushed to the injured as Kirk stepped through the confusion on his back back to the engine room.
Busting through a side door Kirk saw that the engine room was in no better condition than the rest of the ship; organized chaos, or so it looked to be.
"REPORT!" Kirk yelled over the already loud ambient noise level.
"Sir, we have lost the starboard warp nacelle. We took a direct hit from debris from the Kentari, auxiliary power is unresponsive in the pylon." Reported the nearest ranking officer.
"Grab all the tools and parts you can and meet me at the pylon." Kirk orderd.
"Yes sir."

::With effort, Cani moved the dial on his communicator with one hand, while turning Saryn onto his back. The Vulcan was unconscious and bleeding copiously from a wound on his chest. His face had gone ashen, but there was no expression on it. Cani marveled at how Vulcans could control their emotions in any situation.::
[Cani] "Challenger, anyone, do you hear me! I need a medic. The rest of the security team is dead, and Commander Saryn is unconscious. I am also injured, but not too badly. Please, get a medic down here!"
::He leaned close to the Vulcan, feeling the commander's shallow breath on his cheek, too shallow for Cani's comfort. Surface examination turned out that the Vulcan had at least a few broken ribs, where the enemy had viciously kicked him. Then all of a sudden the Vulcan stopped breathing and the crewman uttered a cry of rage, pounding on his chest, willing him to breathe.
He bent over him to provide mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and forced breath down his throat. With each breath, greenish foam appeared from the wound, but finally Saryn breathed again though with effort.::
[Cani] ::picking up the communicator again:: "He's got pneunothorax! He'll die if he won't get treatment soon. Where's that medic!"

'He's got pneumothorax! He'll die if he won't get treatment soon. Where's that medic!' came the shout over the comm
Rickman checked the position of the comm device against the scanner. Apparently these were the missing Starfleet reinforcements with Saryn. Rickman wondered what had taken the Vulcan so far outside of the established perimeter. Probably trying to find the first five for anything found about the Romulans. Brave, but ultimately futile since they couldn't risk T'Kara going so far out of the perimeter and their group medic was now laying somewhere on Challenger, most likely in a room near the teleporter room.
'What's your name?' Rickman asked 'Amari Cani, here with Saryn' was the reply 'Cani, we only have T'Kara and we can't send her that far out with the Romulans still lurking around. Is it possible for you to move towards the perimeter?' 'I don't know, I could crawl but moving Saryn might kill him' 'You can either leave him there or drag him with you, but your only chance is to come to us. You have to make the decision' 'What would you do?' 'I'd take him. If he dies in transit then you did your best. It'll slow you down, but if you're going to be spotted then you can play dead and he'll look enough the part to cover for you both.' 'Aye, sir. Moving now'
Rickman looked at Smith 'Keep an open comm to him. I'll let T'Kara know and move one of the heavy guns to give suppressing fire when he's close enough' Smith nodded and began quietly giving encouragement to the young man with the Vulcan in tow when he sounded like he was going to give up. Rickman went and found Ericson. 'Ericson, move to 5 degrees from north. We have a Starfleet man dragging Saryn to us. Once he's within range, give him covering fire.' 'Yessir'
Next, Rickman performed the battlefield half ducking run to T'Kara who was in the current field hospital; a large bush which gave enough cover to allow her to move about with some amount of safety. She was doing something to a wounded man which seemed to accomplish little more than watering the ground in the most morbid way possible. Still, it probably helped or else she wouldn't be doing it. As he closed in he saw she was removing shrapnel from a wound with large tweezers.
'T'Kara, Saryn's been badly wounded and is being dragged back to the perimeter by one of his group. He has pneumothorax' -the word meant nothing to Rickman and the way he delivered it was in the same way one might remark that he might have a proficiency at darts- 'and may die in transit. Either way, can you spare the time to go to the edge of the perimeter and meet him?' <T'Kara>

'T'Kara, Saryn's been badly wounded and is being dragged back to the perimeter by one of his group. He has pneumothorax and may die in transit. Either way, can you spare the time to go to the edge of the perimeter and meet him?'
T'Kara looked up from her current patient, briefly wondering why she had chosen an assignment with such emotional and war-prone people instead of taking the more logical and safe option at home on Vulcan.
"Give me a moment" she replied in what would have been interpreted as a 'short' manner from anyone else. Rickman, however, didn't seem to care.
Looking back at the poor man now surrounded in a pool of his own blood - apparently field medicine wasn't really her field of expertise - she sighed in resignation. He had lost too much blood and his wounds were too extensive. With proper medical equipment she may be able to save his life. However, here in this newly christened war zone, there wasn't really a chance in hell. The man had already lost consciousness, making her current decision a little easier and dehumanising. She knew the logical choice was their commanding officer. She knew she was expected to be logical.
Without a word, she gave him an injection making the 'transition' a little easier to whatever was waiting for them. She then wordlessly picked up her equipment and made her way haphazardly to Rickman, praying silently that the man she had just allowed to die would forgive her. It never got easier, even for a Vulcan.
She made her way carefully to Saryn and looked at her only fellow-Vulcan who was most certainly in a bad way. She looked at the men surrounding him and their own decidedly un-medical prognosis wasn't good and neither was hers.
"What we need to know" said Rickman "Is whether or not he'll survive the teleport and will be able to wait for you to look after him there." He stated this all matter of factly.
It was her turn to be matter of fact. She scanned Saryn briefly, knowing everything that it told her already and arched an eyebrow. "It depends on how long you wish to play war. I give him about half an hour from now, basically. I can give him something here to help him and someone will need to be with him at all times onboard. He cannot breathe properly and so the breathing apparatus from the Medical Bay will need to be taken to him and someone with at least basic medical training should be able to apply it even rudimentally until I arrive. I will need to be kept informed of his condition and if it deteriorates noticably I shall have to be beamed aboard too. He is our captain. We must care for him."

"Send the injured to sickbay, otherwise, we can use every hand we can get, send the rest to work where they're needed, then get back up here!"
"Understood," Jack answered as helped on of the Andorians to his feet. As he surveyed the cramped cooridor he realized that most of them would not be able to help out.
"If you are not seriously injuried please help out anyway you can," Jack said as he sprinted back to the bridge. As he entered he heard a report about six other ships entering the system and his heart sank. There would be no way that they would surive against a fleet of twenty plus ships.
"No sir, Atlantis, Discovery and Endeavour and the Vulcan ships Ti'Nar, Vi'Mur and Trenek."
For a spilt second, Jack thought that his ears were playing tricks on him, but of course they were not.
"Jack contact....," Captain Adams started to order.
"Captain already on it," Jack responded as he contacted the Discovery and Trenek and ordered them to help out the teams on the planet. In all the excitment, Jack failed to realize that Challenger was being hailed by the away team.
"He's got pneunothorax! He'll die if he won't get treatment soon. Where's that medic!"
"Is it safe to transport?" Jack asked not caring who the injuried person was.

What seemed at first like an impossible no-win situation had become a good chance. With the advent of the surface weapons and the allied reinforcements, the Romulans were now on the defensive.
"Captain," said the tactical officer, "Atlantis is coming under heavy fire from two Romulan warships, Enterprise is moving to assist."
"Move us in as well. Ready weapons!" Ordered Adams.
"Sir, after the nacelle was disabled, our phase cannons went offline."
"Fire torpedoes, full spread." Said Adams, then tapped the intercom button on his chair, "Mr Kirk, we phase cannons back!"

Kirk had rushed to the pylon with as many hand tools and digital analyzers as he could hold. He bumped into fellow engineers left and right as he tried to make his way through the chaotic mess that was the engine room.
When Kirk arrived at the pylon junction he found the engineer he was talking to hadn't shown up yet. With out wasting any time Kirk pulled the plug adapter from the digital analyzer and plugged it into a data port along the pylons digital information hub, and with in seconds information was being received in the analyzer about the condition of the various systems that ran through that pylon.
"Damn." Kirk said to himself as he began to get a better idea of what was going on with the damaged nacelle. Rushing to a COM station Kirk opened a channel with the Engine Room.
"Engine room, shut down power to the Starboard Nacelle, and compensate with thruster output to keep this ship stable." Kirk ordered into the speaker.
"Aye sir." Came the reply.
Switching channels Kirk opened a new channel up to the Bridge, "Captain, I can't stabilize the Starboard Nacelle so I am going to shut it down and compensate with the thrusters to keep the ship stable for sub light speeds."
"Can we go to warp?" Adams quickly asked.
Kirk took a moment to think about the question and then finally answered, "I would say right now the best we can manage is just a little above light speed."
There was an odd silence from the bridge given the circumstances and then Adams came back on, "Andy, we need the phase cannons back online!"
"I will get right on it." Kirk replied.
In a frantic pace Kirk unplugged the digital analyzer and rushed back through the engine room. Kirk was surprise to see that things were starting to calm down, problems were being solved and more engineers were free to do other tasks.
"You two, you're with me." Kirk said pointing quickly to two free crewmen, "We need to get the cannons back online."
"Aye sir. What are your orders?" The higher of the two men asked.
"I need you to go down to the storage bay and pick up as many phase capacitors as you can muster and then report back to me." Kirk said as he moved over to an empty station.
The two crewmen rushed off without saying anything. Kirk normally would have noticed but his attention was elsewhere at the moment.
Battle conditions always seemed to bring out the best and worst in the crew. Some people can handle the stressful environment, others can't and those two men he just sent to do a minor task were the ladder. They looked stressed out and afraid for their lives. Kirk had just started to second guess his decision to send the two when the COM opened up again.
"What's the status on those cannons?" It was Captain Adams.
"Sir I need...five minutes at the most." Kirk replied.
"You have got less than two minutes Lieutenant."
"Aye sir." Kirk replied as he frantically worked on locating the problem in the phase cannons.

::Saryn opened his eyes, gasping for breath. His chest felt as though it was on fire and no amount of biocontrol could stem the bleeding. His lung had collapsed as the projectile had pierced both pleura as well as the lung. False air was escaping from the wound as he desperately tried to breathe.
He felt the odd tingle of the teleporter take him and seconds later he was dimly aware of being carted off towards sickbay. He lost consciousness again as he was transferred to the scanning unit.
After an unknown length of time he woke again, finding he could breathe again, though his chest felt as though there was a heavy weight pressing upon it. A male nurse was standing over him, adjusting something beyond his line of vision.
He tried to speak but found something was preventing him to do so. His throat felt raw and it also felt as something had been jammed down his throat. It felt as though a foreign construction had been inserted and only then it realized it was the construction that was helping him breathe.
When the nurse discovered his patient was awake, he smiled encouragingly, then went over to the communications device on the wall and pressed the button.::
[nurse] "Sickbay to bridge, you may be pleased to note my patient is awake and recovering nicely. I expect him to be breathing again on his own accord fairly soon. Please convey my report to doctor T'Kara on the surface. He's come though the critical phase, but he's not out of danger yet."

"That's good to know sickbay, bridge out." Said Adams, "Jack, convey that report to T'Kara on the surface."
<Jack>
Adams then tapped another intercom button on his chair and got through to Kirk, "Where are my phase cannons Mr Kirk?"
<Kirk>
"Alright Jack, coordinate with the fleet, we're going for one final push against the Romulans, let's clean this system up." Said Adams.
<Jack>
OOC: Okay guys, we're gonna start wrapping things up here. Start to tie up your loose ends, especially you guys on the surface.
