"Jack, convey that report to T'Kara on the surface."
"Understood," Jack said as he got in touch with the ground forces on the planet. With the arrival of reinforcements the battle had started to go in their favor, but the Romulans were becoming even more aggressive as the battle raged on. The Sorna, Discovery, and Trenek were all severely damaged. Jack was afraid that if they sustained one more direct hit they would all go critical.
"Captain three of our ships our taking a beating," Jack reported," it would be best if they get there butts out of here."
<Tag Adams>
"Alright Jack, coordinate with the fleet, we're going for one final push against the Romulans, let's clean this system up." Said Adams.
There was one person who could coordinate better than him in all of this chaos and lucky for them that person was stationed on the Enterprise. Lt. Hoshi Sato was the best communications officer out there. ~Hoshi, we need to set up a final push. Coordinate with half the fleet and take out the ships attacking the planet. We will deal with the remaining fleet~
They were simple instructions, but that would be more than enough to get everything ready. The Enterprise would lead the heavily damaged Sorna, Discovery, Vi'Mur and Trenek. Challenger would rally the rest of the fleet and start an all out attack on the enemy.
"Captain the fleet is ready, Captain Archer reports that he is ready and awaits your command," Jack reported and waited for the final showdown to begin.

The pressure was on and Kirk knew it. He could feel the ship shake as she was struck several times by enemy fire. Faster, computer faster dammit! Kirk thought as he frantically tried every short cut he knew to access the diagnostic section of the main computer.
Finally a 3-D model of the ship appeared on the LCD screen in front of Kirk, three sections of the phase cannons glowed red indicating there were the problem areas. Best guessing the time it would take to repair these areas Kirk found it to be longer than the two minutes the Captain had just given him.
Just then the two crewman returned with the phase cannons capacitors. Kirk was shocked at how quickly they had come back with them.
"That was fast." Kirk said not being able to hold in his disbelief.
"Somebody already had made a run to the storage, we found these just sitting inside of an empty box." One of the crewmen replied.
There was not time for small talk, things had to get done and fast. Moving over next to the crewmen Kirk pointed out the problem areas on the ship. As he had thought two of the ships capacitors had overloaded and blown. This was an easy fix that the two crewman could handle on their own.
Kirk had given the men their orders and they were off and running. Picking up a PDA, Kirk uploaded a real time status of the phase cannons and he would know the instant that the capacitors had been changed out.
The last problem was more complicated and the one thing that Kirk knew would take the longest to finish up. The overloaded cannons managed to surge and destroy the ships targeting matrix, essentially making the ships gunner fire the torpedoes by feel alone.
Rushing to the back of the engine room Kirk pulled open a panel at the bottom of a work station. He never knew why he always thought about the layout of a ship during the middle of a repair, but even under these stressful conditions he could not help but wonder why they had not bothered to place the targeting matrix closer to the actual array.
Putting himself on his back, Kirk slide inside the cramp underbelly of the work station. The removal of the panel caused a small light to go on giving Kirk the littlest amount of light. It did not help since the access panel had been pushed to the back of the station, almost out of the reach of the Chief Engineer.
Just as Kirk was reaching the back panel the PDA began to beep and vibrate. Looking down at the device quickly he noticed the two red areas had changed to green. Things were starting to work out. Now with the new capacitors in place he only needed to quickly re-align the targeting matrix and be done with it. If only he could reach!
The ship shook several more times causing Kirk's hand to just miss the data connector to the targeting matrix. Reaching with everything he had and holding his breath Kirk finally managed to connect the two systems together.
Instantly the PDA in Kirk's hand began to computer and recycle old programs. Pulling himself out from under the station Kirk began to manually enter the targeting calculations. He knew this was the long part of the repair and the most critical.
"Where are my phase cannons Mr Kirk?" Adams howled over the COM system.
Kirk finished resetting the targeting matrix to match the new parts installed, "All set sir. Fire at will!" Kirk replied with a great deal of enthusiasm.

It had been a glorious battle and Admiral Valdore couldn't understand how it could have gone so wrong. His fleet of over twenty ships were slowly but surely being reduced into nothing. When his ships were close to destroying the enemy they retreated and were replaced by other ships. It had been the arrival of the Enterprise that had turned the battle against them. But if he was going to be disgraced in the eyes of history he would make sure to take out the famed Captain Archer of the Enterprise and Captain Adams of the Challenger.
"Admiral they are gathering there fleets for a final attack," a sub commander reported.
" I know sub commander," Valdore responded," tell the fleet to concentrate on destroying the Challenger and Enterprise. Also tell them if they have the chance to bombard the planet. It doesn't matter who, just destroy that damned planet. If we die today we die knowing that we took as many of them as possible."
It was only a few seconds until his orders were replied to and the biggest battle in there history was about to end. He knew that the Romulan Empire would not win this battle, but he would make it so that the Allied powers wouldn't come out victors either.

"All set sir. Fire at will!" Came Kirk's voice over the comm.
"Captain the fleet is ready, Captain Archer reports that he is ready and awaits your command," Jack reported.
Adams nodded at Logan who then opened a channel.
"This is Captain Adams to the fleet. Begin!"
Suddenly there was a barrage of weaponsfire from all the allied ships. The Romulans were now taking a pounding, but, it seemed, they weren't finished yet.
"Sir!" Reported the science officer, several of the Romulan ships are beginning to bombard the planet!"
Adams tapped the comm panel on his chair and shouted, "Adams to ground forces, take cover!"
<Rickman/T'Kara>
"Sir, several Romulan ships are concentrating their fire on us and Enterprise." Reported the tactical officer, a note of urgency in his voice.
The ship shook violently, and sparks flew from the ceiling, as if to confirm his statement.
"Return fire, Jack, contact the other ships, get all available ships to try and take some heat off Challenger and Enterprise!"
<Logan>
The ship shook violently again and there was a small explosion at the back of the bridge.
"Somebody put out that fire!" Shouted Adams, then tapped the engineering comm panel, "Bridge to engineering, divert emergency power to sheilds!"

The battle had begun and to the Challenger's communications officer it seemed that everything was going in there favor. Even though a couple of there ships were badly damaged the other ships were still holding there own. The planets defense system was not at full strenght, but it was still helping. That of course meant nothing when the enemy fleet began an all out attack on the Challenger. The ship had been in battle before, but never had it taken this kind of beating.
"Return fire, Jack, contact the other ships, get all available ships to try and take some heat off Challenger and Enterprise!"
"Trying to sir," Jack reported before an explosion shook the entire bridge. A small fire erupted near the reserve science officer which knocked down a few crewmen. Jack wanted to help them, but knew that it would endanger everyone else if he did.
"Computer contact the," Jack ordered and his counterpart appeared in his viewscreen,"Trenek we need you to intercept the lead ship. We need a couple of seconds."
The Trenek had been helping the Enterprise, but as it was the Enterprise could survive a few minutes of there attack. For some reason it took the Romulans by surprise that a Vulcan ship would break its pattern and attack.
"Captain if we don't get more power to the shields it won't matter if the Trenek can get us a few more seconds," Jack reported.

::In sickbay, the nurse on duty carefully pulled the tube from her patient's mouth, telling him to keep breathing as normal as possible. She rolled her eyes as he ended up gagging when she finished the procedure.::
[Nurse] "I told you to keep breathing. Why do you Vulcans always have to know better?"
::Saryn merely coughed in response, trying to clear his throat. He gratefully accepted the glass of water the nurse held out to him and slowly drank it down. He gave her a sour look when he discovered she'd not just given him water and felt the fluid bite in his throat.::
[Saryn] "Are you trying to poison me?"
::The nurse laughed merrily as she took back the empty glass, then pushed down her patient, back into the pillows.::
[Nurse] "Not at all commander. How does your throat feel now?"
::She gently uncovered the shot-wound to check on it and nodded in approval.::
[Nurse] "You're healing nicely commander. A human would've been killed. Uh-uh, you're not getting up, you lost a lot of blood and were unconscious for several hours."
::Saryn struggled to sit back up against the nurse's strong grip. He swatted her aside and she finally allowed him to sit up. By the time he gained enough strength to stand, he was gasping for breath.::
[Saryn] "Until Captain Adams takes back command, I must be on the bridge. I am in command, the Romulans are attacking us."
::He fell against the nurse when the ship rocked under the missiles striking her unprotected hull. She steadied him, her brow furrowed in a frown. She knew Vulcans to be stubborn, and she found it extremely stupid for him to get up so soon after regaining consciousness and having been on life support for several hours. His wound could start bleeding again too if he strained too much. Yet she also knew there was no stopping him beyond sedation, and she wasn't ready to do that. At last she nodded.::
[Nurse] "Very well. Lean on me and I'll guide you to the bridge. You're in no condition to walk on your own."
::Together they started their ascend to the bridge and by the time they got there, Saryn was almost at the end of his strength.::
[Nurse] "I have someone here who insisted on returning to the bridge. Kindly tell him to please mind my words and return to sickbay to rest?"
::She glared at Shawn.::
[Nurse] "And you had better officially take back command before you lose him. Look, his wound has started bleeding again and he's very weak. I only took him because I knew he would've gone on his own accord, without me to look after him. That, or tell him to sit down in your chair and be quiet."

As the ship shook violently, two people appeared on the bridge, Saryn and a Nurse.
"I have someone here who insisted on returning to the bridge. Kindly tell him to please mind my words and return to sickbay to rest?" Said the nurse and then continued, "And you had better officially take back command before you lose him. Look, his wound has started bleeding again and he's very weak. I only took him because I knew he would've gone on his own accord, without me to look after him. That, or tell him to sit down in your chair and be quiet."
"Nurse, in case you hadn't noticed, we are fighting for our lives in one of the biggest battles that has ever been fought. I don't have time to help you do your job. Take him, leave him, sedate him, I don't care, just keep him out of the way!" Adams bellowed, infuriated that the nurse could be so foolish.
The ship then shook violently again, several consoles exploded. Adams himself was thrown to the floor, he hit his head, and everything swam for a moment. He felt his head where it had been hit and his hand came away bloody.
Some crewmembers looked concerned, but they knew that now was not the time or the place.
"Several of the smaller Romulan ships are retreating, Captain," reported the tactical officer, "it looks like the bigger ships are trying to cause as much damage as they can in the meantime."
"Keep firing!" Ordered Adams, "We have to get them out of here!"
"Sir, the Trenek has managed to take some of the heat off of us, but is now coming under heavy fire itself."
"Move to assist!" Ordered Adams.
"Allied forces have just destroyed another Romulan ship sir." Reported the tactical officer. "It looks like that did it sir, the rest are beginning to retreat!"
"Give them some torpedoes as a going-away present, Ensign." Ordered Adams.
"Gladly, sir." Said the tactical officer, then, "Sir, the Trenek's reactor core is going critical!"
Adams slammed the intercom button on his chair, "Transporter room, beam Trenek crew to Challenger!"
"The Trenek has been destroyed." Said the science officer.
"Did we get anyone?" Asked Adams, knowing what the answer would be.
The science officer shook his head, "There wasn't time."
"The last Romulan vessels are moving off." Reported the tactical officer.
"Then it's over." Said Adams, hollowly. Somehow, it didn't feel like a victory. Then he staggered back, lightheaded, he fell into his chair; the head injury he had temporarily forgotten about now came back in full force.
"Helm, set a course back to Weytahn and enter standard orbit." Ordered Adams, then got up, "Jack, you have the bridge, I'll be in sickbay."

The Romulans ground forces were apparently in less and less dense clusters as time went by. As such, the ground scanner was having a harder and harder time picking them up until eventually Smith called through to Rickman. 'The scanner's not picking anyone up, sir' The fire from the opposition was lessening too... 'New signal from the top, major' came Smith's voice Rickman looked up as an outside comm beeped into his ear 'Adams to ground forces, take cover!' Several Romulan ships were now moving towards the structure, throwing all they could at it. Specks though they were, they were making a considerable effort to be the worst sight all day. The shield was holding, but even though the power source could at full yield resist a fleet for hours, it wasn't going to do so now under the improvisations made. 'Everyone, retire to the bunkers.' The bunkers were simply reinforced holes near the main building, apparently so that a defending force could retreat somewhere without having to open the main doors. They had no visibility of the building so that they couldn't be occupied by an attacker for offensive useage.
To drive this point home, the armoured doors of the planetary defence building closed. 'Smith, make sure the engineers have the shields holding and target those ships!' Smith complied from his position inside the main building. The few engineers there scrambled to do what they could. Like Rickman, Smith understood that whilst it might mean an advantage for the Romulans in space for a little while, if the bombarders destroyed the defences then it would mean advantage for good.
Eventually, the pulses from the massive weapons yielded one large boom, then a smaller one followed by the sound of millions of tons of soon to be wreckage failing to remain airborne. Even then, the pulses did not continue for long before they stopped and the doors opened. 'Sir, all surviving Romulan ships are withdrawing' Smith reported Rickman had a vague feeling that he had read about something like this, when one side had taken the more losses yet still managed to leave with enough ships that both sides claimed victory. He wondered if the Romulans would do just that.
'Rickman to Challenger, send down shuttlepods to pick up the unteleportable wounded.'

Jack had just watched as the Trenek disentrigated in the ensuing blast. Even before the question had been asked he knew that none survived. The people that had just rescued them from certain death, died before his eyes. He felt so much anger at that moment that he wanted to destroy the evacuating enemy ships. This of course was not the case, the Allied forces had been victorious in battle, but it had been with great casualties. There were heavy losses for each of the allies. The Andorians had lost the most with six warships, the Vulcan's ships that survived were all critically damaged and the Discovery and Enterprise could not move on there own. It didn't feel like a victory.
"Helm, set a course back to Weytahn and enter standard orbit." ordered Adams, then got up, "Jack, you have the bridge, I'll be in sickbay."
"Understood, Captain," Jack said as he replaced his commanding officer. As he sat in the captain's chair he realized how tired Captain Adams had looked. For the first time, Jack realized that this war could get to the best of them.
"Commander, Captain Saix is rallying the remaining ships and ordering them to pursue the remaining Romulan ships," the tactical officer reported.
"Get me Captain Saix," Jack ordered not surprised that the Andorian would want to avenge the death of many of his people.
"Will you be assisting us?" Saix asked. Jack was surprised that he wanted to join the Andorian in exacting revenge on the Romulans, but he knew this could not be done. The fleet was in shambles, the ground forces were almost completely destroyed, and many of them needed medical attention.
"Captain, we cannot go after them," Jack responded," we have won the battle and we need to tend to our injuried. We can call our governments and ask them to intercept the Romulans, but we cannot go after them."
"Unfortnately Commander I agree with you," Saix said," though I promise you that I will get my revenge."
"Commander we are being hailed by Captain Rickman," the tactical officer reported.
'Rickman to Challenger, send down shuttlepods to pick up the unteleportable wounded.'
"Understood, shuttlepods will be there shortly," Jack responded as he dispatched the pods and then made a shipwide announcement.

It was the day after the battle. Everybody involved was still numb with the enormity of what had taken place. But now, the rest of the allied population wanted to know what had happened, the fallen had to be remembered. So it was that the senior crews of the ships that had defended Weytahn found themselves on a stage amongst the battered settlement, cameras recording the events that were being transmitted to worlds belonging to all members of the Coalition.
There was an audience gathered in front of the stage composed mainly of the Andorian inhabitants of Weytahn, however, there were also several journalists of other species.
Commander Sai'x took the podium first. He spoke, "As a representative of the Andorian Empire, I would like to thank the members of the Coalition of Planets who came to our aid during the recent attack. Without our combined strength and courage, I have no doubt that Weytahn would now be under the control of the Romulan Star Empire.
"It is even more important to thank those who gave their lives in the defence of this colony. Most notably, Captain Severik, aged 103, commanding officer of the Trenek and his brave crew, Captain Shalay, aged 42, commanding officer of the Bomar, and his crew, Commander Delor, aged 38, commanding officer of the Kentari, and the crewmembers thereof who did not survive. "
He then went on to thank the Captains and crews of the smaller Andorian vessels that had been destroyed, then finally, "Of course, we must also pay respect to the other humans, Vulcans and Andorians who died defending this place, both on the ground and in space."
Sai'x stepped down from the podium, it was now Adams' turn to speak since he was the Captain of the other ship that had initially come to Weytahn's aid.
From his position at the end of the stage, he walked to the podium, making eye contact with each of the captains as he passed them, Captain Melar of the T'Shiik, Renor of the Talan, Telok of the Ti'Nar, Shanik of the Vi'Mur, Captain, Tsang, Captain Remin, Captain Vallance, Captain Archer, and finally, Sai'x.
He stepped up to the podium, "After the battle finished yesterday, I felt empty, just as I'm sure you all did now as you heard those names being read out. When you think of the loss of life here, it can be hard to think of it in any positive way. But, this war has brought us all closer together, that has never been more clear than it is today. Just four years ago, Vulcans and Andorians were fighting over this planet. Yesterday, they fought side by side to defend it. We have all become closer because of this war. Therefore, when you think of The Battle of Weytahn, do not think of all we have lost, but rather, all that we have gained."
As Adams finished, the assembled people applauded, and he hoped that the rest of the planets in the Coalition shared the sentiment.

"Bridge to engineering, divert emergency power to shields!" Kirk heard over the COM system.
Before Kirk had a chance to reply he was thrown to the floor by a heavy blast against the ship's hull. Quickly a junior officer rushed to Kirk's aid, the young officer's head was bleeding heavily from a fresh wound. Kirk quickly concluded it must have been from a shattered monitor.
"Are you alright sir?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Kirk replied getting to his feet with the help of the junior officer.
"Sir, Captain Adams wants up to divert all emergency power to the shields."
"Yeah I heard," Kirk replied while he pushed his way around other scrambling engineers, "The problem is we don't have any emergency power."
Another jolt sent Kirk slamming into the station, he braced for the impact but smashed his shoulder into the unforgiving station. The blow momentarily took the wind of out Kirk and he began to see starts dancing around his field of vision.
"Pull all power out of the transporters and reroute it to the shields." Kirk ordered in between large gasps of breath.
"Aye sir." The junior officer replied and rushed off to fulfill the order.
Kirk's breathing wasn't getting any better, his vision started to fade to black as he gasped for air. Suddenly he felt his head getting lighter, the starts vanished and he heard nothing, he just say the approaching darkness and there was nothing he could do to fight it.
Kirk awoke with a loud gasp. His eyes shot open but his vision was blurry. He felt something on his face, with his fingers he touched the object, a mask, Kirk thought. With in a matter of seconds Kirk's vision came back, he was lying against a bulkhead, and was being looked after by a medic.
"Breath slowly." The medic advised.
Kirk nodded his head but said nothing.
"You are probably feeling a bit light headed right now, that will pass as your brain gets more oxygen. Just stay down until you feel that tingling feeling in your legs go away, OK?"
Kirk again nodded but said nothing. Frankly he did not feel like saying anything for fear he would pass out again. Looking over his body he noticed his arm was now in a splint.
The medic squatted back down after attending to a few other injured engineers. He pulled off the mask from Kirk's face and held out his fingers.
"How many am I holding up?" The medic asked.
"Two." Kirk replied.
"Good. Think you can stand?"
"Yeah."
The medic extended his hand out and Kirk grabbed a hold of it and pulled himself up. The sudden rush caused him to feel dizzy again. The medic acting quickly pushed Kirk up against the wall letting him regain his balance.
"What happened to me?" Kirk asked.
"Seems that with that last large explosion you dislocated your shoulder causing your ribs to take a lot of the force of the blow. I scanned your chest and it looks like you have some bruising on your right side. Your body went into shock and you hyperventilated yourself as your tried to force yourself into breathing again. How are you feeling now?"
"Better." Kirk replied.
"Good. I have other people to look after, but you need to go see the Doctor as soon as he is done with the more critical cases."
"Understood, thanks Doc." Kirk said.
The next couple of days Kirk took his duty on the lite side. The Challenger wasn't in prime condition but she was still battle worthy if any Romulans decided to pick another fight while she limped home.
OFF: sorry it took me so long to respond, i have had a huge final group project that has been taking up too much of my time.

::Saryn sat back as he listened to Adams delivering his speech. He certainly agreed on the working together part. Though he personally hadn't trusted Andorians before this mission, Sa'ix had certainly proved him wrong on that account.
The nurse was still hovering over him, fussing as though he were a disobedient child. He needed to rest, and often, even though Saryn insisted he was 'feeling fine'. Yet walking a short distance at more than a regular step was leaving him breathless. It annoyed him greatly of course, but he wasn't showing it. Instead he promised the nurse to rest after the ceremony.
After the ceremony, Saryn walked up to Adams.::
[Saryn] "That was a good speech Captain Adams. And I am relieved to find that you have finally taken back command."
::He glanced towards the assembled crowd.::
"Curious. Usually Andorians and Vulcans are at odds with one another, yet they did not hesitate to assist us when one of our colonies was under attack. Perhaps there is still hope for the future then?"

OFF: Weytahn is an Andorian colony, Commander. Oops!
ON:
"Perhaps there is still hope for the future then?" Stated Saryn.
"As long as we stick together Commander, I think there is." Said Voran.
