Kate had spent several hours in the holodeck and when her duty shift rolled around again she ended the simulation with a sigh. The program had a long involved plot and she hadn't ever made it to the end. She turned in her seat as the Captain addressed her.
"Lieutenant Jamison, review the students' files and determine each one's focus of study to determine who best to have them shadow during their time with us. I was told there is at least 1 student in each of the main branches of Navigation, Tactical, Operations, Science, Medical, and Engineering, with 15 students in total."
She nodded “I'll get right on it sir.” She knew his orders would take some time. “Reviewing 15 personnel files and finding suitable escorts was not a small task. With that she turned back to her console and began her 'regular work' as well as the assignment she'd just been given.
Kate began looking over the list of students, separating them into groups of 5 students each: Jhal'dok , Zhegras , Yul'ryas , Vasrea and Linayra were in the first group. She scanned over the group, taking into account their information as she cross-checked them with the list of those she had for escorts.
{tbc as I get more information.}

Nayomi had been reading over the Lampurian Student’s medical files when Deis entered. It was an eclectic group and she was looking forward to working with the young Suliban and Klingon in particular. She did not come across many Klingon medical professionals and the Suliban’s had made some recent and fascinating breakthroughs in genetics she was eager to discuss with Linayra.
Upon entering sickbay she heads straight for Dr. Chavet's office and chimes the doorway, awaiting the call to enter. Upon having recieved it she does so, stepping up to the Doctors desk and giving her a little smile:: Rosters set Doctor so tha ye be available when our new students come aboard. Weve a 9 hour flight plan so there be time fer restin. Feel free t take yer break or rest when'eer necessary. But iffen ye dinna mind, while in transit afore we get all busy i would be likin t speak on a personal medical matter.
“Of course Commander.” Nayomi brought up the commander’s file. “Are you certain you want to get rid of them, once I have completed the tissue regeneration I can’t reverse the process and some people grow rather fond of scars.” “Ach i be thinkin ive carried them long enough, it would be nice t look in th mirror an see me old face an body. How long can I be expectin th process t take?” Nayomi frowned. “I will have to take some preliminary scans, the damage happened some time ago and your battle field medical treatment, although excellent given your condition, did aggravate the situation. Originally treatment like this would require a few quick sessions with a dermal re-generator, but I expect a week of ten minute visits a day may be required. We need to give the skin some time between sessions to respond to the treatment. You will notice gradual improvements during that time. It might be a nice process to involve the Lampurian students in if you don’t mind. Do you have time for me to make a few scans now? “Occourse Doctor...cannae see th harm. Tis unlikely tha they woulda seen a regeneration this extensive.” Deis stood and followed Nayomi back into the lab. Nayomi had her strip down to her under clothes and hop up on a bio bed and took out her tricorder to make a few readings. Once more of the Commander's old injury was revealed, Naomi could not help but take a shocked breath. The scars range from her left jawline all the way down to the left knee, covering the whole left arm and shoulder with secondary "splash" scarring over the left side of the chest, back, and torso. Clearly she had been the victim of a nasty plasma explosion. Naomi had seen this injuries fresh before, and the sight of blood had never bothered her, otherwise she would have chosen the wrong career, but she had not seen old scaring like this in a long time. No wonder Deis was eager to get rid of it. She shook it off and continued with her scans. “It’s a very diverse group of students we are getting. I never expected the opportunity to train a Klingon or a Suliban and the Lampurians themselves sound like a fascinating people. We had a small group of exchange students from Lampuria visit the Arts Collage where my mother works when I was a teenager, but other than that I have had no dealings with them. What about you?” <Tag Iris> (O.O.C post created with Deis's assistance on her character's lovely accent and replies>

[Lumpur Seven: Academic Dormitory]
"The El Salvador has arrived, and Captain Savot reports they stand ready to receive you. Learner Vasrea... you've only just arrived here 5 weeks ago. Your grades are more than sufficient to have earned your place in the exchange program but are you sure you wish to change venues so soon?", one of the academic director's inquired, narrowing his feline eyes at the young vulcan girl in curiosity.
The girl in question blinked, "I... am considering Starfleet as a potential pursuit; it seemed sensible to take advantage of the opportunity to observe procedure and protocol aboard one of their vessels, Administrator."
Administrator Felirek smirked and nodded knowingly, "Indeed, the well-known vulcan logic at work..."
The rest of his sentence was cut off as Vasrea interjected fervently, "With all due respect, sir. My file clearly states I am not a follower of Surak's philosophy. One can exercise sensibility without enslaving themselves to the cold logic of an automaton. I would expect better of an academician than to make presumptions of an individual based on a generalized species & philosophical stereotype."
Felirek swallowed his retort with difficulty; the child being technically correct did nothing to salve the acidity of her reaction, so he merely nodded and gestured her towards the door.
Outside the building, Vasrea was quickly met by her somewhat friendly acquaintance Zhegras, who was already laughing as she approached the vulcan, "Nicely done, girl! I outfitted a manual auditory receiver and installed it at the output center of the air ducts. Some minor filtering of the other audible frequencies and white noise, and presto, I turned the environmental control ducts into the proverbial ear-horn."
Aware of the Tellarite cultural thirst for animosity in their exchanges, Vasrea tossed back a casual, "Well something fancy had to be done for you to hear anything through those matted clumps stuffing your ears. It is fortunate you were born with sufficient talent to help offset your natural inferiorities." Having gotten somewhat used to the vulcan girl over the past few weeks, Zhegras merely threw her head back and barked a laugh into the air as the duo walked together to grab their bags and prepare for beam-up.
************************************************************************************************************************** [El Salvador: Transporter Room 3, Deck 9; {2 Hours Later}]
Wanting to begin with a less formal atmosphere right off to bat so to speak, Savot had foregone requiring dress uniforms for the students' arrival. There would be a quick buffet-style luncheon after they'd seen their rooms and stowed their things. Then he thought perhaps dinner afterwards would be a better time for a more formal honoring of their distinguished young guests, at which time the dress garb would be appropriate. As such he stood in his standard personal uniform ready to receive the beam-ups in Transporter Room 3 as it shared the same deck as the cadet quarters where the students would be staying. He'd thought about using the Guest quarters on Deck 4, but given that the students were here to see what life was like as Starfleet Cadets, it seemed prudent to use the same quarters the cadets would.
The non-native students beamed up first, sort of paving the way for the Lumpurians to follow.
Savot watched as the 5 unique students coalesced into being, noting with interest that the vulcan girl had her hand on the Tellarites bare forearm. Vulcans typically avoided physical contact with other beings, particularly heavily feeling beings, due to the vulcan capacity to pick up the surface feelings of another through minor touch telepathy. Zhegras had thought it odd too when Vasrea had asked for the gesture because she was uncomfortable being transported, and the Tellarite didn't mind so she shrugged and allowed the touch.
Savot immediately felt a quick flash of intense anger, and as his eyes narrowed slightly in concern, Zhegras practically snarled, "This paltry gathering is how you intend to greet the progeny of Federation-allied worlds?! To say nothing of the guests waiting to beam up who you claim to honor?"
The vulcan captain arched a brow and dipped his head slightly, "My apologies Cadet Zhegras. I had proceeded from the belief that you would be able to hold yourself above animal outbursts to a sufficient extent that only this number would be required to subdue you if it became necessary. I humbly ask your forgiveness if my estimation of your self control was so grossly exaggerated."
Zhegras blinked as though surprised, noting Vasrea cautiously removing her hand from the irritated Tellarite's arm, looked around, and then roared another laugh. "I think I'll like it here, captain! You're quick on the uptake, especially for a stuffy vulcan", Zhegras grinned and nodded greeting to Savot as she stepped off the transporter pad with the rest of the 5-some who then turned and waited while the 10 Lumpurian students beamed up as well, "Permission to come aboard, Captain?"
Savot nodded, "Granted cadets, to all of you. Welcome aboard the starship El Salvador. I am Captain Savot, and these are some of my officers. You'll be shown to your quarters to stow your belongings, given time to report for your basic medical examinations, after which we will hold a casual luncheon in the cadets' mess here on Deck 9. Commander Irae will help you get settled; Commander?" He nodded to his First Officer handing her the proverbial reins.
(Left the officer introduction part nameless so anyone could be present for the beam-up if they wanted to, but not be stuck there if they hadn't planned to be)

Jason was in awe as he watched the El Salvador's size increase the closer he got the massive vessel. He had no experience with starships until he had enrolled in Starfleet a few years ago, having to spend an extra year longer than most because he had made a few bad decisions while trying to make friends. He impatiently waited for the shuttle he was on to close in on his post, looking forward to the experience involved with being a part of Starfleet. Once the shuttle had landed he hastily made his way to the bridge where he hoped he would be able to report to his commanding officer. Unfortunately when he arrived the bridge was almost empty. "Can I help you ensign?" Jason turned to the bridge officer who spoke. <tag whoever > "Sorry, I was looking for Captain Savot so I may report for duty. You can just call me Ace though" he said extending a hand to introduce himself. "The Captain is in transporter room 3 at the moment, you can report to him there" Jason nodded in response and took off to the transporter room. Upon arrival to the transporter room Jason forcibly stopped short so he wouldn't run into someone. "Sorry, I didn't expect someone to be right at the door." The ensign stepped back and looked around for the Captain, catching his eye he snapped a salute "Ensign Jason Valor reporting for duty sir"

[Transporter Room 3]
Savot was just preparing to return to the bridge following the departure of the last of the guest students whom Commander Irae was showing to their temporary cadet quarters, when their newest officer reported for duty. Savot acknowledged the man's greeting and responded in kind, "Welcome aboard, Ensign Valor. As you have likely surmised, I am Commodore Savot, though when aboard ship I prefer 'captain' as it requires less time to say and is therefore more efficient."
The vulcan walked over to a console by the wall and pulled a datapadd from the slot, synching it up to the ship's computers to download the Ensign's information. He then turned back to Valor and handed him the datapadd, "Here is a display of your quarters, Deck 3. You may get your belongings settled, after which you should report to sickbay for your physical examination. Following that, you may settle in, or begin your duty shift if you prefer. Do you have any questions, Ensign?"

"No sir, no questions at this time. Just a request if I may? I prefer to be called Ace, it's a nickname I grew up with and like you said it takes less time to say" Jason took the PADD from the captain and quickly went over the details. Leaving the transporter room he headed to his quarters to drop of his belongings before heading to sick bay.
Peeking his head inside sick bay he looked around for a moment before being spotted by the doctor "Ensign Jason Valor reporting for my physical" hr said holding the PADD out.

As the last of the students materialized on the platform Nayomi stepped up the the lone Klingon in the group and introduced herself. “Welcome to the El’ Salvador, you must be Jhal'dok, I am Ensign Nayomi Chavet, it is an honour to meet you.” “Ah, you are the ships Doctor!” The Klingon clapped her on the back, nearly throwing Nayomi off her feet. “I am also honoured to meet you. How soon can I join you in your sickbay? I am very curious to see if it is as bloody as a Bird of Prey.” He stared at her intently, and then started to laugh. “I should hope not. A good doctor is a clean doctor. Perhaps that is why I did not fair well back on Kronos.” “My sickbay is very clean, and you can join me there as soon as you will like. We have a new crew member who will be reporting in for his physical soon.” She gestured to Ace Valour. “It is a basic, but very important part of my job and yourself and the rest of the students would be welcome to join me.” “Excellent, I cannot wait to roll up my sleeves.” A silky voice rang out and a slender cat-like form stepped out from behind the large Klingon. It was one of the Lampurian students. She had quick, intelligent eyes and it was clear from the way Jhal’dok looked at her that there was a strong connection there. “My name is Hzara, I will also be studying under your.” “Pleased to meet you. Where is Linayra? I believe she is the only Medical student I have not met now.” ‘She will be hugging the wall somewhere… There she is.” Jhal’dok pointed across the room to where the young Suliban stood awkwardly in the corner. Hzara frowned. “She is very intelligent when it comes to science, but not very good with people. I will let her know she is welcome to join us.” “No No, that is alright. I will speak with her myself.” Nayomi excused herself and headed toward her third student. “I am Doctor Chavet, you must be Linayra?” Her eyes flickered toward Nayomi for a moment and than back to the floor. “Yes” Hzara was not kidding. “Pleased to meet you Linayra. I was just telling the others that they can meet me in sickbay as soon as they are settled in. I believe one of these crewman will show you your quarters.” She referenced one of the nearby security officer. “They are the same as the regular crew here use and you will be rooming with one of our crewmembers for a more complete experience. If you have any trouble with your stay please speak with myself or another officer right away.” “Yes mame.” “Doctor is fine or Ensign.” This was going to be an interesting week “Yes Doctor, may I be excused?” “Of course, see you later.” ------- Later in sickbay. Nayomi had one of her nurses paired with each student showing them the basic tools of sickbay and how to use them. Despite her awkwardness, Linayra was catching on very quickly, with the toehr two not far behind. The doors slid open and a head peeked inside. "Ensign Jason Valor reporting for my physical" hr said holding the PADD out. <tag doc> Nayomi took the padd “Welcome Ensign, you had better step your whole body in or the door will close and I will have to show my students how to attached a severed head.” “Really!?” Hzara’s cat like eyes went wide. “Don’t be silly, the doors are programmed to bounce back it they detect anything in the way.” Jhal’dor laughed. Hzara gave him a playful slap. Nayomi wondered if she needed to get an antihormone spray out. “Take a seat Ace and start to fill out this form.” She handed him a padd with her usual questions on it. “Do you mind if I let one of my students scan your vitals?” <Tag Ace> OOC I will post my medical question on the OOC board for future reference

Ace looked around sickbay for a moment before taking a seat on a biobed. "Not at all doctor, as long as you are around, just in case." He smiled at her, thinking she was very attractive, and smart at the same time. Looking down at the form he started to fill out the queations.
"Age?..20 height? 6 feet. weight 185 pounds" rocking his head to his right and left as he filled out the form, he kept looking up at the doctor to see if she was noticing him. "Have you gained or lost more than 10 pounds in the last standard earth year? Yes, 15 to be exact" he replied with a smile on his face " Been working out with some kick boxing"
"Previous injuries.. severe ankle sprain as a result of kick boxing, no previous illnesses, allergens or current medicines. And no family history...no family that I can ask" Jason's head dropped a little as he brought up that sad fact. "Do you engage in any extreme activities on a regular basis, yup kick boxing twice a week" Ace kinda chuckled at the next question, although he was unsure why " have you ever engaged in intercourse with a bolian or Varro, that would be a no"
Skimming over the last few questions he answered no to any medical training and put down his last physical. "All done doc,and doc's assistants" he smiled once again as he handed off the forms

Nayomi had Hzara using the medical tricorder to scan Jason's vitals while the other's looked on.
"Kickboxing, now that sounds like an excellent past time. I have heard of Human boxing, always sounded like fun. Would I be welcome to join you some time Ensign Valour?" Jhal'dok asked. "I am still recovering from an illness that had be struck down several months ago, so you might actually stand a chance."
<Tag Jason>
Nayomi raised an eyebrow, most klingons probably would not be so open about a weakness, but than again Jhal'dok did not seem like most klingons. "Alright students, based on Jason's scans and his answers on his report anything stand out?"
They all shook their heads no. "Correct, Ensign I would say you are in excellent health. We will keep all this on file in case anything changes." She wished all her crew was like this, a few could use a few sessions of kickboxing a week.
<Tag Jason>
Once Jason had left Nayomi put the students back to work learning the sickbay tech and paged Deis =A= Commander Irae, Doctor Chavet here. I am set up to begin your first treatment any time you would like to drop by sickbay=A=

Jason looked at the young klingon, although he had very little experience with most alien races he did know that Klingons rarely admitted any kind of weakness. "Sure thing, just let me know when you are free" As Jason was leaving he glanced back, smiling quickly before tipping an imaginary hat at the crew in sickbay.

Thank ye Capn. ::Says the smallish, darkly intense, woman wearing FO pips. She steps up:: Allow me t repeat th Capns welcome t th El Salvador. ::one can tell she is trying to be personable and welcoming as she is almost smiling:: A warnin first. Be prepared fer...oddities. We 'ave 'ad many a strange and excitin experience aboard this ship and tis th kind o experiences tha keep on givin. I am Commander Deis Irae, First Officer. Iffen ye will be followin me, we will get yer quarters squared away an... ::Smiles that little smile again and steps back as the Doctor speaks with her new students. Once shes finished then Deis speaks again:: Well in tha case, med students wi th Doctor, everone else, wi me. This way. ::Nods to Chavet and heads out of the transporter room at a quick efficient little clip::
The 12 students not accompanying the doctor quickly re-shoulder their meager belongings and form a rough line waiting to follow Irae. Savot waits to leave until all the students have departed, only to be temporarily delayed by the welcome addition and introduction of the new Ops officer.
The cadets left the transporter room fairly organized and looking around at everything they could take in visually... which while mostly just corridor, was still quite exciting to most of them. Vasrea and Zhegras walked together, most of the others not having the experience necessary to confidently converse with a Tellarite girl or her somewhat cold vulcan friend. But they weren’t ostracized really and every now and again someone did exchange a comment with them.
First time on a full sized starship? Dinnae worry...felt th same when i joined th Hanson durin Academy trainin. Ye get used to 'er. An eventually she becomes 'ome. Speakin o 'ome, this will be yers fer th next goodly while. ::Deis lilts on as she leads the group thrugh the corridors and into the cadet quarters area.:: T'will be three t a room, choose yer own bunk mates and each of ye key in yer thumbs loike so. ::just picks the first room and keys herself into the quarters. Then she steps back and waits for our new charges to pick bunkmates for each room, those having gone with the Doctor can take up the empty spaces:: Righ then. Stow yer gear an onto sickbay we go. Willnae take th Doctor more'n a few t get her checkups squared away.
::Deis takes a moment then to recieve the ping from Doctor Chavet, tapping commbadge:: =/\=Righ Doctor. Be on me way in a rikky tick.=/\=
::Then announcing this to the group:: An it seems fer those interested there be a rather interestin medical procedure t witness.
Everyone follows the instructions and enters their respective rooms. Several drop their bags on their bunks and immediately feel the mattresses; Vasrea and Yul'ryas the Corvallen, though in different rooms, both waste no time in unpacking their belongings right away and organizing clothing, etc. in the drawers under and above their wall-slotted bunks and return to the hallway without bothering to sample their beds’ softness even once.
Zhegras flopped on the bed straight away, playfully complaining about it despite being genuinely satisfied with it. And the Lumpur students settled in quite smoothly. The starship as a whole was terra incongnito to them, but student domiciles they were very familiar and comfortable with. Within 10 minutes, everyone’s ready to go and many of the postures are already less tense as now no matter what other new things they experience, they have a concrete ‘home’ they know they can go back to at the end of each shift.
::Deis remembers the sensation herself. Recieving her quarters on the Hanson and then later, the El Sal B. It gives a person a centering point from which to move out and to later, return. The Commander seems pleasant enough in a brisk and businesslike fashion, but she does not seem to invite confidences as yet. Pretty much all of the students are taller than she but she just seems to project the command that she is rightly known for, a sort of vibrant yet subdued physical intensity:: On t Sickbay then. Joost so ye know, there be directries in each corridor. Iffen ye become lost, consult th directories, indicate yer destination an a glowstrip on th floor will lead ye righ. ::Once they are all assembled and ready she leads them on to the nearest turbolift. Two groups, students first once Deis has informed them of the proper deck, head up and are heading into Sickbay in a trice::
::Heading in, Deis gives a nod to Dr. Chavet:: Take er away, Doctor. We can get me procedure done now, ochaye? Then dinner.
