Sonak: "Right, so security and marines will organize sparring sessions for all crew wishing to attend them. I would recommend mixing all layers of rank and positions though and I am inclined to make it required for all senior staff." She gave a nod to Helacaan and Traks
Traks: " I will have to excuse Corporal Zarn as he is a Zakdorn and does not play well with others and privet Quartz as she is a Horta. I have enough trouble keeping the two of them from eating each other. It seems Zakdorn love silicone as a snack and Horta's live on rock, But there is no better recon team around. "
{Traks had to force himself to keep a straight face and keep laughing at the thought of the whole Security squad trying to take down a 7 foot living rock or swarming over a Horta.}
"The remained of the Squad will be there, as ordered. The session will be lead by Master Chief Lewis (Human male) and will include Staff Sargent Tran (Andorran Female) PFC Casey (Human male), and PFC Yarn (Vulcan male). That with myself are the whole of my physical Marines. The remainder are holographic and availablefor use as needed. If you wish to visit them they are the sole occupants of cargo bay 6."
{With that Traks gave the Admiral a Vulcan hand salute and left the briefing room to break the news to his Squad}.

"What is the status of all crew physicals?" she asked, "anyone overdue needs to be summoned as before we leave dock."
Lorna smiled slightly "There's less than a dozen to go my team are on it as we speak, mostly people who've been out of contact for a bit." She knew one or three had deliberately let their physicals slide but made no further comment. "So far, no one's had issues with their reminder message and everyone's made it to sickbay on time.
She glanced around the room. She wasn't going to mention Commander Helacaan's expired physical until she had reminded him personally.
”Other than the routine things. I have a pair of sisters down with Tamalan Pox" She paused a second and then continuing. "It's non-contagious and caught early like this not life threatening, they picked it up eating wild fruit on a family holiday." She shook her head as if to say that people should know better than to eat wild food without
Lorna certainly wouldn't complain if the sparring sessions were complusory, she'd been asking about it earlier after it.
************
After the meeting Lorna loitered waiting for the security chief and the marine had finished their discussion. She put her name and Cris's down on the sparring session list. And then waited another moment to catch Commander Helacaaan.
"Your physical's due. Do you want to come down to sickbay now?" The look she gave him suggested that she was expecting an affirmative response, although would accept a negative if there was a reason included."

She had managed to remain silent for the vast majority of the meeting, nobody seemed to have noticed that she had not spoken about herself, or at least they didn't mention it. She didn't mind people knowing her she just didn't like the forced bonding, besides most of the revealed 'facts' people offered were easily gleaned from simply browsing service records.
As the senior crew discussed combat simulations a crewman discreetly entered and handed Kate a padd before they silently left. Starfleet wide orders to report any sightings of a stolen shuttle craft, with the added order to not engage only report. Before she could slide the padd across to Sonak the Admiral asked her about psychological examinations. She took a deep breath. “The counsellor isn't due to make a first report until tomorrow.”
finally the briefing reached the end and the assembled officers were dismissed, her thoughts drifted to her son as she tried to guess what he would be doing right at that moment. Shaking her head slightly she tried to push the thought to the back of her mind as she stood and walked out onto the bridge just in time to see Helacaan step into a turbo lift.
Handing the padd to Sonak she said. “Stolen shuttle from the USS Boston, report of sightings only.”
Moving across the bridge she took her seat and briefly watched the the bridge crew go about their work, before she herself activated the console to her right and began to review the most recent departmental reports.

Seth had made his way back to the bridge to finalize matters with Traks regarding the sparring session, the Wezean now having a concrete list of those security officers he'd be taking along, not all of them of course as the number assigned to the CTSO outnumbered the biological and holographic marines combined. Maurice and Pimqr were the jewels in the Ves security contingent's crown, they were certainly on the list and...
He found himself reading the list of participants: some of the senior staff - the session not having been made officially compulsory by the CO but with strong encouragements to attend - including the CMO and someone by the name of Cris Lieder, a civilian. Raising an eyebrow in surprise he looked up to find himself facing Lorna Holsen, "Ah, Doctor," he cleared his throat, "I see you're on the list. Uh, well up with your self defence training are...?"
"Your physical's due. Do you want to come down to sickbay now?" The look she gave him suggested that she was expecting an affirmative response.
He groaned inwardly; he guessed it couldn't be avoided any longer, the point had been reached where he'd have to go through the explanations regarding his previously broken bones and troubled to say the least early years. He nodded brusquely, "I think I could spare a moment, Doctor."
They entered sickbay, "I would recommend you face Ensign Pimqr in the session. She's a fair competitor and an excellent instructor. It does mean you'll be on the marines' side if that's something you're comfortable with." One thing was sure, Seth wasn't going to be feeling comfortable lying on a biobed.
"Previously broken in five places," he confirmed, lifting his left arm symbolically, "Also a severe spinal injury that resulted in temporary paralysis. And bruised internal organs. The mesas are rough that time of year... I climb." That was half the story; the other was bound up with darkness among white moonlight-reflecting networks of mesas, known as the Ridge to his people. It was there they'd carried out guerrilla warfare against their world's perennial invaders, entering their lair at the end of the narrow road that led from their homestead.

He slid off the biobed, "1600 hours, Doctor."
After the tortuous physical (it'd been like a tough mission assignment, awful to have to go through but glad to get it out of the way) he visited the cargo bay to be greeted by the UFP marines. Greeting them all cordially, swallowing the anger at the Federation which in the marines he saw the avatars of, he approached the Andorian, "Sergeant. Your CO has told you about the duel?" Of course he had. "Myself and him will lead. I'd be honoured if you were to spar with me first." Sergeant Tran saluted, yes, sir. "I've read your file, experienced in cold climes; I grew up on a hot, arid planet, a Federation colony, was in combat from an early age. It would make for an interesting combination."
Following the cargo bay, he tapped his commbadge to contact Traks, "Colonel, this is Helacaan. Are you ready, sir?"

OOC: I had a post eaten by a technical hitch and it's taken me a while to muster the enthusiasm to rewrite it. Sorry.
"Ah, Doctor," Commander Helacaan cleared his throat, "I see you're on the list. Uh, well up with your self defence training are...?"
"Your physical's due. Do you want to come down to sickbay now?" The look she gave him suggested that she was expecting an affirmative response. She was fighting to keep her face formal, it wasn't ideal to answer a question with a question but experience had taught her that this was the best way of getting agreement with regard to crew physicals. She did intend on answering his question as soon as he had answered hers.
"I think I could spare a moment, Doctor." He looked like he was accepting a grim and terrible fate, which wasn't the worst respond Lorna had ever received when getting someone to agree to a physical but certainly wasn't the best. Still, it was something she could work with. She smiled.
"Thank you, Commander. In answer to your question, I've been training in self-defence longer than I've been doctoring. Mostly hand-to-hand and the phaser range though, never really got the knack for traditional weaponry, that's more Cris's thing." Which, wasn't going in to the damage that she had done on occasion with some decidedly non-traditional weapons. "Of course, it's been a while since I had a new sparing partner."
Lorna left things there for a moment, it was a little unusual, maybe... People seemed to accept marines or security personnel wanting to get some medical training but going the other way... Well, the idea of someone who could break bones while naming them seemed to unnerve people. Maybe it was the whole 'above all do no harm' thing, or maybe it was the implication that a medic would know exactly the way to cause the worst pain or damage. Lorna took her Hippocratic Oath seriously, but, as far as she was concerned when someone threatened her patients it was her duty to protect them. It was also her duty to protect herself with the aim that she wouldn't need medical attention.
They entered sickbay, "I would recommend you face Ensign Pimqr in the session. She's a fair competitor and an excellent instructor. It does mean you'll be on the marines' side if that's something you're comfortable with." Lorna nodded, she couldn't picture Ensign Pimqr but it sounded good to have a recommendation.
"I look forward to it," Lorna said and guestured to a biobed. Commander Helacaan was doing his best not to look like a condemned man although he wasn't hiding things that well. Sh started her examination in silence, she knew it was time to push the conversation on to actual medical matters. "Your left forearm has had both bones regenerated, must have been some serious damage."
"Previously broken in five places," he confirmed, lifting his left arm symbolically, "Also a severe spinal injury that resulted in temporary paralysis. And bruised internal organs. The mesas are rough that time of year... I climb."
Lorna knew there was more to it than that. She wasn't going to push though. She reached up to the display screen and stretched a little changing a couple of recording settings. The sleeve on her uniform rode up revealing the rippled skin of her scars. Most of the time Lorna would tug her sleeve down and carry on. This time she ignored it. She was proud of her scars and the choices she had made to get them.
A few minutes later she checked that the last set of recordings had saved properly and then put her tricorder down. "That's it. Commander, all done." She debated a joke it decided against it. "You are free to go and I hope I don't see you here until next year."
He slid off the biobed, "1600 hours, Doctor." Lorna nodded although noted that he did not leap of the bed and run out of sickbay. Maybe she was starting to be a person rather than just a doctor and the purveyor of the awful physicals. Maybe. She hoped that the sparring session would punish things further.
She ensured that she had a half hour warning set up and that Cris was well aware of the event. Before her alarm went Lorna did two more physicals. When the alarm went she returned to her quarters changed into track trousers and a loose fitting t shirt. The short sleeves showed the scarring between Lorna's wrist and elbow. She was rebraiding her hair when Cris, all ready dressed in similar attire reached around her neck to embrace her and plant a kiss on Lorna's cheek.
"You're gorgeous as ever." She smiled over Lorna's shoulder catching her gaze in the mirror. "But, just so you know, I am going to beat you this time."
Lorna reached up to squeeze Cris's fingers with one hand as she put her comb down. "You wish." She laughed getting to her feet. She raised Cris's hand to her mouth and pressed a kissed to her knuckles. She sighed. "I guess, we better go, don't wanted to be late."
"Wouldn't be the first time."
Lorna continued to laugh as she tugged Cris towards the door. "No it wouldn't but I have to prove that you aren't going to beat me."
Lorna and Cris were not the first to arrive at the sparring session but things had not started yet. Lorna wondered which of the assembled throng was Ensign Pimqr.
