[El Salvador: Ready Room]
Savot sat in his Ready Room holding a solitary vigil of thought for the future of the Vhenzluvian people while simultaneously grateful beyond quantification that none of his crew had suffered injury or death in the brief but tense hostage situation that had taken place. He spoke out to the only audience present, the computer, "Captain's Log: Supplemental. Though I believe in consideration of all the variables at play in our most recent mission that we performed our duties to the best of our ability, I nonetheless regret the strife that the populace of Vhenzlu now face. Commander Irae returned the 71 surviving telepaths-in-exile back to the planet without incident and the entirety of the planet's affected patients regained consciousness by the time of her arrival. The notion of destroying the Cryarch was broached by members of the Minister's cabinet as a gesture of purging themselves of so loathsome a remembrance... however it was due to its loathsome reminder that Minister Pargroban chose to leave it intact. She felt that their current situation came from trying too many times at too high a price to hide things and that their only path forward was to openly embrace and 'own' their mistakes no matter how painful. Ironically it was this same argument her cabinet used against her when she attempted to resign from her post, claiming that she should embrace the burden of leading her people through this re-integration."
"The Cryarch was lowered via extended tractor beam into the main square of the capital city around which the Minister plans to erect a museum and educational center designed to sift through their histories and display as much of their hidden past as possible so the people can see it with their own eyes rather than the horrific myths the true history of their telepathy had been reduced to in hushed whispers. The Federation is expected to revoke Vhenzlu's membership as a Federation world for the foreseeable future, but in the interests of ensuring the proper treatment of the awakened telepaths a team of observers are en route to aid the Minister's own people in ensuring no mob or riot response against them is allowed to simmer amongst the populace. As much of the Vhenzluvian economy has become heavily intertwined with their position as a trade hub along well traveled space lanes, Ambassadors from individual Federation worlds are using their influence and credentials to establish third-party parameters to continue to allow importing and exporting to as large an extent as possible since their impending loss of membership will no longer entitle them to the blanket scope trade permissions they've previously enjoyed. For our part, I chose not to file any formal complaint against Minister Pargroban for her brief tenure as our captor, to try and leave her enough political strength to remain in control throughout this period. I believe she is embroiled in genuine remorse for the entire history of the telepaths' exile and would be more likely to take steps to see them cared for than would a new Minister who would need to cement their own political position before attempting action on so heated a situation. I have submitted personal commendations to the records of Doctor Chavet and her medical team, as well as the security personnel for doing their jobs while not sparking an already flammable situation during our capture. We are now reporting to Starbase 47 for debriefing and Shore Leave for all personnel before receiving our next assignment."
[Space near Starbase 47]
Stretched stars resumed their pinprick appearance in the black curtain of space as the El Salvador came out of warp speed in the vicinity of the Section 47 headquarters starbase that shared the section's operating number. Other vessels came and went as trade, repairs, and new assignments all transpired in various measure. Captain Savot sat in the center seat overseeing their approach to dock, "Initiating docking approach, Mr. Tamarov. Commander Irae, contact Starbase 47 to request docking clearance and a birth assignment." The vulcan tapped a control on the arm of the captain's chair that sent a technological whistle throughout the ship's speakers to summon everyone's focus, =^=Attention crew of the El Salvador, this is the Captain. We are now docking at Starbase 47, see your department heads for your assigned Shore Leave windows provided by First Officer Irae. Each of you performed most admirably in our latest endeavor and I express my personal gratitude and respect. Carry on.=^=
(Tag: All. Open season to engage in whatever pursuits aboard either the ship or the starbase you so desire! Feel free to tag Deis or myself should you wish company, but we promise not to cry too intensely if you fly solo so no worries there )
