*As RJ struggled to get the Excal out of harms way, the computer worked to analyze the energy wave they were running from. The engineer in RJ became puzzled by the read out.*
James: Sir the wave is dispersing; the computer analyzes it as coming from a Federation warp core. But the wave was 50 times greater than the explosion of the largest core ever built. Maybe something in this system can explain the magnification of the explosion?

"Is it safe to return to the Jatiana system?" Curie asked
<TAG: James>
"Good return on full red alert." Curie said
--A few moments later-- The Excal warped back in to the Jatiana system. "Full stop." Curie ordered "Aye aye, sir." Cmdr. Richards replied "Full sensor scan." Curie ordered "What caused the energy wave?"
<TAG: Science>
"Well let us go in further, but with caution." Sam ordered "Helm take us further in, on 1/2 impulse." "Yes Sir." Cmdr. Richards replied.
OFF: Come on people post.

As Commander James worked to get the Excalibur clear from the energy wave, William Richards was already busying himself trying to discover just where the energy wave had come from.
As James had just reported, the readings were consistent with a warp core breach from a Federation ship, but the sheer size of the energy wave was to big to come from any known Federation design. There was of course the chance that it was the Maru that had exploded, and that something in the system had caused the explosion to be much more powerful than it should, but based on his current readings, William doubted that.
There was of course another possibility, if as they suspected the Klingons were in the area, they could have just witnessed the testing of a new super weapon, or perhaps even a multiple number of ships being destroyed. The truth was they just wouldn’t know until they could get closer to the source.
It was then that a signal started to beep on William’s radar, quickly analysing the readings, the Lieutenant formed his conclusions.
“Captain, I believe I have located the Maru, she is reading as adrift on the far side of the system, close to the origin of the energy wave we just encountered.”

T Mok was furious. Nothing short of ending someones life would calm him now, but right now he couldnt spare to lose a single man. That made him even madder. The T'Koth hung lifeless in orbit of Jatiana III. Her cloak was still engaged, only by some miracle of K'Loks engineering, but sensors were fried, energy levels were low and most frustrating Disruptors were off line. Not that it had done much good.
Just as the T Koth had entered the Jatiana system they had spotted the Maru. It had layen lifeless on the edge of the system. A quick scan revealed that it had indeed hit one of the klingons gravitic mines. They also assertained that all of the escape pods were gone and there were no lifeforms below. T Mok had ordered that the planet be scanned for survivors. He planned to capture them and then lie in wait for the Excalibur. As soon as Kroll iniatied the scan something bizarre happened. Before any readings could be got a small cylindrical object shot out of the atmosphere. It hung in front of the T'Koth. T' Mok like ant good klingon captain took it as a threat and challenge and ordered it destroyed. As the disruptors fired the sphere dodged the blasts and then detonated sending out a powerful energy wave that had lend them to there present predicament.
"They are here" K'Temoc grunted pointing as the Excalibur re-entered the system. "I m detecting their warp signature, it seems they avoided the energy wave" Kroll noted "Bah" T Mok waved away, "Can they see us?" "No. But in our current state we will be much easier to detect." "Bah. Too day is a good day to die. Ready a landing party. We shall go down there and kill whoever attacked us, and then we'll kill the Starfleeters." "Yes Sir" K'Temoc grinned toothily.

*I'll reveal myself later;).....Elron knows who I am*
Crewman Mira Green sat at environmental control as the Klingons suddenly appeared. However, with the Klingons, another ship suddenly appeared to. Checking her boards, she gazed at the science officer in surprise. "Sir! The warp signature eminating from the second vessel matches the energy matrix of the energy wave that we've just warped away from!"
She turned to her console, to double check her readings but every scan turned up the same: the two signatures were an exact match. She was, however, unable to tell what species the ship belonged to and if the air -if any- on the vessel was breathable to humans. For some reason, scanners could not penetrate the hull of the strange vessel.
At navigation, Mr Richards worked his console as he plotted a course away from the alien vessel.
"Incoming fire!" Mira cried as she frantically tried to hold on to her console. She heard a cry of pain and turned to see Richards lying on the floor, curled in a fetal position. As replacement CNO, she sped forward, completing Richards's maneuvre. "Sickbay to bridge!" she yelled over the blaring noise of the red alert signal. "Mr Richards is severely injured!"
She looked up and saw that the alien vessel was joined by a second one, which was taking on the Klingons. The first vessel kept close tabs on the Excalibur, never letting the Federation vessel out of it's sight, or weapons range.
*had CNO permission to do this...in fact, he asked. Don't make this an easy fix people....let a couple of posts slide over this to figure out who this new adversary is*

OCC: Just before Crewman Green’s post.
At Captain Curies orders, Richards and James had laid in a course for the Maru, which was currently adrift far into the system. Richards couldn’t be sure, but he was almost certain he had detected another reading as well as the ship grew closer, thinking it was the Klingons he quickly did another scan, but this time found nothing.
Suddenly his console started to beep madly as another, unknown vessel warped into the system, before Richards could even report it to the Captain, the ship opened fire.
The bridge of the Excalibur shook violently as heavy weapons fire impacted on the naked hull, seconds before the shields were raised.
“Report,” Curie ordered from his chair, where he was clinging onto the arm supports to keep himself steady.
“Who ever they are, there’s nothing like it in our databanks,” Richards called, as he helped James plot evasive action, “and that last shot damaged our weapons.”
“Fire whatever we have,” Curie ordered, “Engineering, we need full weapons power.”
His hands flying over his controls, Richards quickly targeted the offending ship and fired a full phaser volley, a chance look at his screens told him the phasers had had little effect.
His collusion sensors beeped again, this time warning that a torpedo was heading right for them.
“Incoming fire!” someone else on the bridge called out, as the orange torpedo grew larger and larger on the viewscreen.
Suddenly Richard’s entire console blew up violently, with a cry Richards’s fail to the deck, his face and hands covered in burns, as the world around him started to go dark, he heard someone calling for medics…
OCC: The medical staff were saying they wanted something to do, so here you go!

OFF: Thanks. ;D
Down in Sickbay, John Mann felt the ship shake violently. The last box of medical supplies was tipped on its side, and several of its contents spilled out. John knelt to pick up the equipment, but then realised that the ship had probably been hit with something. Not being a weapons expert, John couldn't tell if it was disruptors, phasers, or torpedoes hitting the Excalibur, but he knew that something was. He looked for CMO Kwani, but she was already running out the door. John grabbed some medical supplies, hurried after her, and tapped his commbadge.
"All medical staff, report to Sickbay!" he announced. John didn't know if Lt. Kwani had already issued the same order or not, but John wasn't taking any chances.
Sprinting, John barely managed to catch up to Lt. Kwani in the turbolift. "Where do you want me to go?" asked the nurse, slightly out of breath.
"Try Engineering," replied Kwani. She wasn't breathing as heavily. I'll get to the Bridge." John nodded, and after Kwani exited onto the Bridge - John thought he saw Richards lying on the floor - he went to Engineering.
The place was a mess. People were running all over the place. One or two were lying or sitting down. Nurse Mann headed to them first.
"Head over to Crewman Hopkins, he's the one near the door!" shouted the CEO over the roar of activity in the massive room. John turned and saw a man lying on the ground, blood pouring from his chest.
Instantly, John knew he must have been moved. There was a trail of blood leading to his position, and the man was in a fairly comfortable position. John made a mental note to ask Dr. Kwani to explain to the ship's compliment NOT to move an injured crewmember. If it had been a head wound, the man would have almost certainly been killed by his would-be rescuers.
John took out his medical tricorder. It looked like a metal fragment had been lodged in the man's chest. Looking around, Mann could see a charred console, part of it blown apart and now lying on the floor. Taking out a scalpel, John turned to Hopkins and began digging for the metal shard.
The tricorder had indicated that the shards (there were three) were very close together, and only about three centimeters beneath the man's skin. They had hit his commbadge, which had stopped the metal from impacting further. In about five minutes, John had the three pieces of metal out of the man's chest. He then applied a bandage to the wound, made a mental note to check on Hopkins's concussion later, and moved on to the nest man.
The man was sitting up, smiling as John came closer. "Damn console blew right up in Frank's face," said the crewman, indicating Hopkins. "When Frank got thrown back, I hit my head on the bar right there," he continued, pointing to the warp core. "But I'm not bleeding or anything, I just feel a little woozy."
"You'll be fine," assured John, "but it was a good idea to sit down. I'll make sure you arn't bleeding internally, and then you can get back to work, if you want. What's your name?"
"Ellington," replied the crewman as John scanned him with his tricorder. "You know, my great-great-grandfather, or somethin' like that, was a great musician."
"Duke Ellington," said John, grinning. "Yeah, I've head of him. Got a recording. Some weird device called a 'compact disk player' from the twentieth century. I think my uncle found it on Earth. Its got a bit of the Duke's music on one of the disks." Mann helped Ellington up. "Well, you're cleared for duty. Come on over to Sickbay after this is over, so I can make sure you're all right. And, erm, if you need a physical... you might not want to get one from Dr. Kwani."
"Why?" asked Ellington.
"Just don't - don't ask, all right?" John would have laughed when he remembered Richards at his physical, but Richards was probably in Sickbay, with critical injuries. John turned to leave. Over his shoulder he called out," Oh, and don't tell Dr. Kwani that I said that, all right?"
"Sure thing," said Ellington, heading back to wor

When the first torpedo hit the ship, Crewman Charlie Whistle had grabbed onto his console for dear life, to his right he heard one of the consoles explode, and saw Frank Hopkins fly across the room. As the deck shook again from another impact yet more explosions sounded in engineering, but still Charlie hung on to his station.
He was responsible for the power flow of the ship, and he knew that right now the ship was going to need all the power that he could muster. A flashing light on his console told him that the main navigation console up on the bridge had just lost power, due to an explosion. Panic flared up in him, that was his mate William’s console, as all around him people lay on the floor in a daze, and Commander Dawkins barked out more orders, all Charlie could think about was the danger his mate might be in.
“Crewman Whistle!” Dawkins yelled, “don’t just stand there! Re-calibrate the power flow to the bridge, anything we have left transfer to the shields!”
“Aye aye sir!” Charlie called out, his training kicking back into full force, “transferring power now sir.”
It was than that Nurse Mann came rushing into Engineering, heading straight for Frank the Nurse began treating Charlie’s fallen comrade. Not for the first time Charlie wondered at modern medicine, there would have been a time an explosion like that would have killed a man, but Mann was already onto treating his next patient, Frank’s condition already stabilised.
“Begging your pardon sir,” Charlie said, as Mann walked past him, “but do you know the condition of Lieutenant Richards? he’s a friend of mine.”

OFF: people this is a short post since that I'm extreamly buzzy. After this message I'm on LOA untill monday.
ON: Curie fell out of his chair when the second swarm of torpedoes came. "Damage report?" Curie shouted. "We've lost main sensors, weapons and several backup systems." The engineering officer told him. "We're sitting duck." Curie cursed "Helm plot a cours.." On that moment the intruder alert went of. "Where is it?" Curie ordered. "Unidentified lifeforms located on deck 5 section 12." Mr. Richards told the capt. "Go there and investigate." Curie ordered. ==^==Curie to Mann==^== ==^==Mann here, what can I do for you?==^== ==^==I want you to find out who our intruders are and what race they are form. Meet Mr. Richards on deck 5 section 11.==^== ==^==I'll be there. Mann out==^==

Begging the Captain's pardon, but in the last few posts its been established that Richards is in sickbay with some pretty serious injuries, after his console exploded. Prehaps someone else from the bridge crew should attend to the intruders?

OFF: Lol. I recommend amending his post accordingly. The Captain is taking an LOA until monday, as he said, so Cmdr James has been left in command while the XO is also on LOA. I realise this is a much less than ideal arrangement, but there's not much I can do. Please let either Magellan or myself know if you have specific problems (other than officers in two places at once )

However one nte about site to site beaming in TOS: it was not done because it's thought extremely dangerous...even in TNG they're hesitant about it <at least early seasons>. Also..navigation plots the course..helm executes it <why else would there be a navigations officer?> ic: Mira Green quickly placed herself at the navigations console, now that she had seen that her chief had been safely brought to sickbay. "Plotting course aye," she answered, then sent the course corrections to Robert James' console. Elsewhere on the ship, creatures from the alien vessel had seen a chance to beam aboard undetected...until they tripped an alarm when entering auxiliary control. "You moron!" the tall male creature yelled at his partner, "now we're going to have to find a place to hide." He pointed at the three females. "Get to engineering, disable whatever you can disable. We must take this ship.!" On the Klingon vessel, a small team of aliens had found their way to engineering and managed to subdue the Klingon staff; though with difficulty. It had cost two of the seven aliens their lives. "Get to the bridge!" T'Naih ordered one of his subordinates, "take one of their weapons...shoot whoevr you encounter and for crying out loud shoot on first sight! Shoot first, ask later!"

USS ExcaliburThis should work...it worked fine for me the other day though right now none of the fleet pages or any other page from the S47 seems to be working. From what I read, the CTNO (Richards) is injured and one of his staff, Mira Green, took over. As she's a TNO, she could be sent after them if needed....

My position is Navigation + Tactical, we don't have a security officer, so the Captain was sending the right person, just the person was somewhere else.
I will also be on loa from saturday until next friday.
With so many of us on LOA, maybe we should pause the mission until more return?

"Whoa!" Mira exclaimed as another volley of torpedo's coming from the unknown alien vessel nearly impacted with the shields of the USS Excalibur. She had only just barely been able to timely send a correction course to the helmsman, who deftly dodged the volley.
Yet, she was thrown from her chair when a second volley impacted into the starboard nacelle only a second after James had dodged the first volley. "Oww," she murmured, as she ruefully rubbed her right temple, which had none too softly impacted with the edge of her console when she'd been thrown from her seat. "This is going to be a nice bump to show mum and dad on my next message," she muttered.
The just barely seventeen year old crewman climbed back onto her seat and entered the next set of course corrections, however then she saw the lights blinking on her console. "Uhm...captain?" she called, looking over her shoulder at the captain, "starboard nacelle has been damaged, seems as if we're not going to go anywhere, sir."

*As RJ fought to turn the Excalibur away from the Klingon vessels attack only to have another ship show up in his path and start attacking.*
RJ: When it rains it pours; Incoming hang on;
* RJ was having trouble entering the commands fast enough to avoid the incoming fire.*
Mira:"Uhm...captain?" she called, looking over her shoulder at the captain, "starboard nacelle has been damaged, seems as if we're not going to go anywhere, sir."
RJ: Belay that Crewman, executing evasive Archer z2. James to Engineering give me 110% on the Port nacelle and shut down starboard going to warp 2 for 60 seconds in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Now!!! The CEO will shoot me for this.
*Jack heard the command from the Helm Officer. Knowing that James was an Engineer himself and had been in command of the Excalibur's refit, he jumped to comply. *
Dawkins: This had better work!
*The Excalibur jumped 5,000 meters straight up and went to warp 2. But with only one working warp engine the ship entered a worm hole. After 60 seconds the warp engine reversed and dropped the Excalibur out of the worm hole. Looking at the stars RJ wondered if he had just landed them in the fire from the frying pan.*
RJ: Green scan the star charts and see where if we are where I think we are?" Two parsecs inside the Klingon Empire, with out warp drive."
RJ.

"Evasive pattern Archer?" Mira murmured, paining her memory on the name Archer. It sounded vaguely familiar, but as she'd never attended the academy, she'd also never had any classes in Starfleet History. "Aye sir," she finally responded when her console automatically executed the called pattern when she entered a query for the name.
Her next order was to scan star charts and she did so eagerly, wondering where the imbalance on their warp trajectory had landed them. "Uhmmm," Mira started, gazing at the helmsman questioningly, "if you think we're in Klingon territory, then you're quite right sir." She cast a frigthened look at the main viewscreen, where the aliens dropped out of warp just off their port bow. "Our uhm, friends are back captain!"
On the alien vessel, Chieftain Meh'Kor glared at his navigator, who nearly lost the Excalibur when it jumped to an imbalanced warp. "Next time you nearly lose them, you lose something else as well," he growled, and gave a satisfactory sneer when the helmsman cringed at the threat. Meh'Kor's pale blue skin turned a shade paler blue with anger at nearly having been deluded by the starfleet vessel. He thought the vessel had been disabled, ready to be captured and taken home as a prize.
Fortunately, the passenger ship Maru had been downed on the planet, and other members of his fleet made sure that nobody would dare come close, not even the Klingons.

Being at her post, she heard all the commotion on the bridge, and realized she should scan the ships, while they are attacking. She sets about this task, and finds a few things wrong under normal circumstances. The ship shouldn't be able to move through space, as it is working against one of the laws of motion. She continues to work, and sees how they manage to get their ship to run like that. She gives a low clack, and scans them deeper amazed and interested in what she is finding. She continues in deep reverie, and finds she has tuned out everything and everyone. She doesn't care and continues still.
It isn't long before she has most of their ship scanned, but unfortunately we jet out of there, and she can't continue them. She clicks then clacks, as if she is unhappy. She starts to review what she has found, putting it in a report for the captain, knowing he will want to see this.

“Begging your pardon sir,” Charlie said, as Mann walked past him, “but do you know the condition of Lieutenant Richards? he’s a friend of mine.”
"No," said John. "He's on the Bridge, right?" Charlie nodded. "Dr. Kwani's the one in charge up there. Check in with Sickbay in a while, if you want. I'd keep you informed, but I don't think I'll have the time." John hurried out of Engineering.
His portable communicator beeped. "Mann, this is Kwani. The Captain's headed to interogate acouple of prisoners. Try and get to them before him - they're in the brig. I want you to run full scans on them, make sure they arn't carrying anything dangerous."
"Yes, Doctor," said John.
"I'll meet you in Sickbay after that with the injured. Kwani out."
********************************************
John didn't make it to the captives before the Captain did. He arrived in time to hear one of the aliens say, "We are the V'nary, and you have invaded in our territory. That's why we've attacked you. You should leave." With that the alien closed his mouth.
John cleared his throat. The Captain and First officer turned around, and the nurse about died on the spot. Captain Curie looked like he was ready to skewer John any moment.
"Um... not to interefere or anything, sir... but Dr. Kwani told me to check out these two, preferably in Sickbay."
The Captain looked like he was ready to take off John's head, but Dawkins held him back. "Sir, it would be a good idea."
The Captain thought for a moment. "All right, but make it fast, and do it here."
"Yes, sir," said John, feeling no desire to hang around too long. He took out his medical tricorder, quickly ran the typical scans, and found no apparent danger. "They're clear, sir."
"Good," said the Captain. He and James turned back to the captives, and John hurried to Sickbay as quickly as he could.

ooc:
Kindly note that in TOS era, there were no combadges....they used a portable communicator, somewhat like our mobile phones. And they still used those around the time of The Undiscovered Country too.
Also captain...impulse? Robert James jumped us to an imbalanced warp....thus creating a wormhole...in this situation, it is viable that Dawkins was in engineering all along to provide with engine power as much as we can.
