“I’d rather continue keep this ship working,” Aeryn replied. “Unless you think restricting me to my quarters would be a good thing,” she said, raising an eyebrow.

Aeryn was quite sure that she was now treading a very thin line. If she persisted, Paikea might carry out his threat about locking her in the brig, if only to prove that the ship didn’t need her to keep running. “Or maybe we should just avoid each other for a while. It’s your choice,” she said, her voice very calm and controlled, which made the words seem even more like a challenge.

“Sure,” Nico said, but he didn’t feel entirely comfortable ordering for Lianna. At least, not without asking her if she’d want it first. “Do you want pasta?” he asked. “They have a nice shell one with a pesto sauce,” he suggested.
<Tag Lianna>[/b]
Nico nodded. When the waiter came, Nico ordered for Lianna, himself, and Phantom. He requested that Phantom get a plastic plate, rather than ceramic. The waiter looked a little surprised, but wrote down the order. “Would either of you like something to drink with that?” the waiter asked.
“Ah, just water for me,” Nico said, feeling bad that he hadn’t asked Lianna what she wanted. He rarely had anything but water with a meal, and felt a little badly for not remembering that others felt differently. He looked at the menu, and mentally read the list of drinks for her to hear, in case she wanted one of those.

"Of course that isn't what I want to do Aeryn, you are a damn good engineer, but you are pushing it," Paikea said hoping that she would take his sincerity into account and just promise to stop this erratic behavior.
Aeryn was quite sure that she was now treading a very thin line. "Commander Aeryn Gray, you are on a thin line," Paikea said fuming mad. He controlled his anger and turned his back and started to leave the office, but was stopped when Commander Gray said....

"Pasta sounds wonderful." Lianna smiled slightly and nodded. She looked up at the waiter as he took their order. Her thoughts picking up the words which Nico sent in her direction.
"A cup of tea for me please." She said softly patting Phantom as his head appeared from beneath the table to sniff at the waiter.
"It's his way of getting to know you." she explained to the startled young man. "He'll learn you are one of the ones who provide food for us and he'll be your best friend."
She laughed as his tongue snaked out and he licked the waiters hand. "He's saying thank you." she said as she made a motion with her hand, Phantom reacting immediately and laying down, his head on his paws.
"Thank you for bringing us here Nico, I appreciate everything you have done for us." Lianna said as she turned back to him as he sat across the table.

“I’m enjoying it too,” Nico said, but wasn’t sure what to say next. He decided it might be nice to get to know Lianna better.
“So,” he asked. “What brings you to the far reaches of space, and, more specifically, the Scavenger?”

“Where were you before this?” he asked, curious.

Lianna sighed as she leaned back in her chair, she was amazed this question had not been asked of her before now.
“Nico, this is the first time I have been away from home. I had been sheltered and protected by my parents until I decided that I wanted and needed to get out and away. To see what was out here.”
She explained, one hand reaching beneath the table to scratch Phantom behind the ear, as he picked up his mistresses sad tone.
“I was tired of everything being done for me and never being given the chance to prove myself.”
She continued.
“As to how I ended up on the Scavenger, I guess you can call it luck of the draw. There was room on board for civilians and no questions asked and so I joined the ship.”
She smiled slightly.
“What about yourself?”

"Lt. Commander Gray, you have crossed the line," Paikea said almost screaming in anger," Computer recognize command codes Paikea Zodiac Alpha Three."
"Commander I know you are a great engineer and for that reason I'm not throwing you into the bridge, but this will never happen again," Paikea said as he put his hand on her collar and took of the pip.
"Lt. Commander Aeryn Gray you have officially been reprimanded and have been demorted to the rank of Lt.," Paikea said trying to be as calm as possible," further more you are no longer Cheif Engineer. "
<Areyn>
Paikea didn't wait for any response as he headed out of the room quickly. He didn't plan doing this, but it had to be done.
=^=Commordore T'Mar the problem we talked about is solved=^=
=^=Understood, Commander report to the staff briefing immediately=^=

"Lt. Commander Aeryn Gray you have officially been reprimanded and have been demoted to the rank of Lt.," Paikea said," further more you are no longer Chief Engineer. "
“I want you to tell the Engineering staff then,” she said, still getting no reply from him. But she didn’t think she could bare the shame of telling them herself, now that she had lost some of her temper and was thinking about realism.
He didn’t answer. “I’m not going to, so I’m hoping they find out from someone.” Aeryn sighed slightly, and went to work. Five minutes later, the computer beeped at her. “What is it?” she asked.
“There is a senior staff meeting,” the computer started.
“Cancel that reminder,” Aeryn said. “Block all reminders pertaining to senior staff.”
“For how long?”
“Forever,” Aeryn said, a bit melodramatically. But she felt like being a little melodramatic just now. She stammered out orders until the end of her shift, knowing that she shouldn’t technically be giving the orders, but no one else stepped in, and without someone to give orders things would still be done, but much less efficiently.
She went straight to her quarters at the end of the shift, and sat down in a chair. She started to think over what she had done, and began to consider her options. It wasn’t the fact that she was demoted, but she felt she had hurt a person who could have become a friend. Aeryn didn’t make friends easily, or, rather, didn’t keep them easily. She sighed, and pulled up a PADD, and studied her resume. It didn’t look very good, especially once she factored in her recent demotion, but she could probably get another job on another ship. She didn’t even want to be the chief engineer, she just wanted a chance to start over. But she always wanted that, and it didn’t ever seem to happen. Aeryn studied her resume, then brought up a resignation form and studied it. She started to fill it out with all the relevant information. The form filled out, she set it aside, and decided to sleep on it, and decide what to do next.
--------
“There was room on board for civilians and no questions asked and so I joined the ship.”
“Well, I’m glad you came aboard the Scavenger, rather than another ship,” Nico said, smiling at her.
“What about yourself?” Lianna asked.
“I plan to stay in Starfleet for about five years, get some training, help where I can here. But the main reason I went into Starfleet itself is to get that training and experience, I want to serve on a planet, be a medic, when I finish with all this. Be somewhere I’m needed. A frontier planet. I may stay with Starfleet, if that’s the best way, or I may not.” Nico shrugged. “But all that’s a ways off in the future.”
He smiled again. “So,” he asked, “Do you have any siblings?” he asked. He didn’t, he was an only child but he had always wished he had a younger brother or sister, or even an older one.

Lianna listened quietly while Nico spoke, the waiter soon appearing with their drinks.
“Why are you so glad I came aboard the Scavenger?”
She sipped her tea and placed the cup on the table before her before speaking in response to his question.
“No Nico, I don’t have any siblings. My mother and father didn’t want to have another challenged child on their hands and from what I have determined my blindness is genetic.”
She frowned and patted Phantom who nuzzled her hand lightly.
“I would like to find out if it can be corrected. But I don’t even know where to begin. My parents have kept me so protected I haven’t had a chance to find out much and hope to use this new freedom to be able to do it.”
Lianna brushed a stray hair from her cheek, sitting back as they waited for the food.

Rela had heard the question, but she wasn't sure about the response. She wondered who would be trying to get at her, and she wondered which enemy of hers was behind this. She knew she had made many in her years as an ambassador, and she had hoped that this wasn't going to end the way she thought. She decided it was time, and she hoped the rift would disappear.

OOC: Ambassador Rela, I'm going to use your post as if I asked the question during the briefing because it will fit more that way.
IC:
Pai obviously was in a fowl mood. The incident with Aeryn had left a bad taste in his mouth, but he would not back down from insubordination no matter if it was a friend. Well as of now most likely a former friend.
When Paikea entered the bridge he saw that there were only three officers on the bridge, it seemed as if the meeting had already began without him.
"Repairs are extensive, we may need the engineers in Assailant to repair all this damage," Katie reported to the Commodore.
"That at the moment is not going to happen, in these condition's we will not make it back to Assailant with that ship out there," Commander Cavit said.
"We must then head towards the coordinates that the Ambassador gave us," Spiro said knowing that his suggestion wasn't a popular one.
"If we are to go, I would like to know for what reason," Paikea said finally speaking as he sat down next to Pai.
"I hov muny anamies, yang mon, and I wald thenk thut ya meeght hov mude a fow yarsulf in thot enafurm. "Ambassador once we leave this nebula, we will most likely meet your enemies," Paikea said," and we don't know why they want to get to you and are willing to kill innocent people because of it."
<Rela>
"Commander Apirana how good are you at making sensor ghost?" Commodore T'Mar asked of Pai.
"Ummm.....fairly good ma'am," Paikea said a bit confused.
"Okay then," T'Mar said before speaking once again," This is our plan Commander Apirana will work on making sensor ghost that will hopefully trick the people on the other ship and give us some time to get away from them, Lt. Anderson will work with her team to get communications and deflector control back on-line, Doctor Tintagel will treat the wounded, Commander Vissiliou I want all weapons back on-line, Commander Cavit please work in getting power back to all systems I don't feel comfortable with taking away the energy supplies from the hospital."
"Understood," was the response from all the officers except Lt. Hirao.
"Commodore T'Mar what are my orders?"
"Lt. you are find the fastest way for us to get the Ambassador's coordinates," T'Mar responded and immediately stopping Paikea from voicing his displeasure.
"Commander Apirana that is my final decision, as of now we will follow our original mission plan. Now everyone dismiss."

“Why are you so glad I came aboard the Scavenger?”
“Because I wouldn’t have met you if you had ended up on some other ship,” Nico said, smiling.
“My parents have kept me so protected I haven’t had a chance to find out much and hope to use this new freedom to be able to do it.”
“It sounds horrible,” Nico said, trying to empathize, but he realizes that he can’t really understand all that she’s gone through.
The food arrived, and Nico smiled at the confused waiter to put the steak near Lianna, so Lianna could give it to Phantom. Lianna’s pasta was put in front of her, and Nico was given the fish that he had ordered. Nico ate quietly for a little while, since he wasn’t sure what to say.
But then he smiled spontaneously between bites of food, and decided to ask a question. “Is there anywhere that you’ve always wanted to go? Like, to visit?” he asked.

Illito went to the staff meeting, learned what was going on, then returned to sickbay, to resume exactly what she was doing before in the exact same fashion she had been doing it. Still, she liked being informed as to the state of things.
She wasn’t able to follow quite a bit of the information, it seemed to require more background information than she had, but she did notice that a member of the senior staff, the one who would feel most similarly to Illito, was not there.
“How many people are on the other ship?” Illito asked Paikea, a little worried, after the meeting had been dismissed.

Aeryn woke ten minutes after trying to fall asleep, having drifted in and out of consciousness for a while. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to get a good nights sleep now. “Computer?” she asked. “Please record and send a personal message to Commander Apirana.”
“Recording,” the computer said.
“Command-Paikea,” Aeryn started. “I would like to talk to you, not about my reprimand, I understand, you were completely right about that. But I wanted to say to you, well, sorry, and to offer the chance for us to still be friends. I don’t know if we can still be, but, well, I feel I have to try. If and when you get a chance, and if you want to, I’d like to get together to talk to you, and I can’t apologize enough,” Aeryn said. “Computer, end message, and send it.”

Lianna laughed as she placed the steak on the floor for the dog and picked up her fork. “It can be horrible Nico. I suppose I understand why my parents did it. Trying to protect me from the cold cruel world.” She said before taking a bite of her pasta.
They both were quiet for a while, the only sound .. the dog beneath the table enjoying his meal. Suddenly the silence was broken by another question from Nico. “Is there anywhere that you’ve always wanted to go? Like, to visit?”
Lianna shook her head. “I’ve never really thought about it. Without my sight all I see are shadows, even on the best of days.” She looked up at Nico before continuing. “I wish I knew if there was something that could be done with my sight but I don’t even know that.”

The stress of the day's events were still with Katie as she left the staff meeting. She had always thought that working hard on something would be enough to take her worries off the dangers of a mission, but it seemed after all that it wasn't going to help calm Katie's nerves after all.
Katie walked silently back to her station thinking only about how she could have and show the same confidence that Paikea had been showing the entire time. It was then that she began to regret the things she had said to him earlier, about him being too much of a jump in headfirst and see what happens guy. The more Katie thought about what she said she began to realize more that it wasn't that he was a risk taker, it was that Katie was too afraid to take risks; no matter what what was at stake self preservation always was her first thoughts.
Calm down girl, Katie thought, you need to focus; work hard and you'll get out of this alive.
Katie looked over her workstation at the read outs from the last scans that had been done. It wasn't until that moment that she was faced with several damaged systems that she felt overwhelmed with the amount of work that she had to do. Katie found it hard to focus her mind on a single goal, and with only having a few spare operations officers running around it seemed that Katie would have to be working on these two main systems herself.
The shields were clinging to the ship, but just barely. With out the help of the deflector control it would be only a matter of hours before the shields finally fell and the ships hull was exposed to the violent nature of the nebula they currently were sitting in.
The sensors at her station kept a long list of replacement items that needed to be installed to get the defector control system back online, and with out engineers to help out it seemed Katie would have to replace the items herself. Looking around the bridge Katie watched as everybody else was busy working hard at their stations.
"Computer, download parts installation information into this information padd." Katie said.
With in seconds the information padd she was holding now contained a detailed set of installation instructions for the new parts that had to go in. Next Katie sent a message down to engineering for a runner to send up the needed parts to the defector control room. Just as she finished her request she took one last look around the room in hopes of talking to Paikea before she left the bridge but it seemed he was busy doing other things.
Katie boarded the nearest turbo lift and headed down to the deflector control room. When she arrived she was surprised to find the parts she had asked for. On top of the box of parts was another information padd where she had to indorse it with her signature.
"Computer, please begin reading installation instructions from my padd." Katie said.
Remove panel cover alpha, then power down the shields to remove the isolinear connection rod. Then install new connection rod, followed by-
"Computer I can't power down the shields." Katie said.
Failure to power down the shields could result in a systematic failure of the shields, personal injury may also be occurred by repairing technician. To properly power down the shields-
"Pause." Katie said looking nervous.
Katie began to think about what she could do, as she was trying to think he watched as her hand began to tremble. She was all alone and she had a hard decision to make. Katie looked down the list of repairs and noted the parts that could be installed with out powering down the shields. She was surprised that the connection rod was the only part that required the shields to be shut down.
Feeling more confidence Katie quickly began replacing the other parts. With in a matter of minutes the pile of non essential parts had been replace leaving the lone connection rod still to be delt with.
"Computer replay installation instructions for isolinear connection rod."
Remove panel cover alpha, then power down the shields to remove the isolinear connection rod. Then install new connection rod,
"Pause." Katie said sounding determined.
Katie quickly turned to the nearest station and manually shut down the shields. As she finished shutting down the shields the ship began to rock violently as the nebula began to start its attack on the ships hull. Turning her attention back to the connection rod Katie grabbed the new item in her right hand and placing her left hand on the damaged item she pulled. As the item pulled out it sent a large electrical surge through the system shocking Katie and sending her to the floor unconscious.
The computer picked up Katie's scream as a sign to continue the installation instructions.
The system should be allowed to power down for a time of 10 seconds before the removal of the isolinear connection rod should be performed.
Off: I guess I just felt like writing tonight.

Pai was a bit dissatisfied with the outcome of the staff meeting, but he would do as he was ordered, no matter if he disagreed. “How many people are on the other ship?” Illito asked Paikea, after the meeting had been dismissed. “On the other ship their about fifty other people,” Paikea responded,” but that could be wrong. The scans that Katie took were incomplete; it seems that their shields were just too powerful.” <Tag Illito> It seemed as their weren’t any other questions, so Pai made his way back to the bridge, where he knew a mountain of work was waiting for him and all of his colleagues. This mission had gone from bad to worse very quickly, but once again Paikea was so proud that everyone on the Scavenger was working hard to keep their home together. What made him even prouder was the fact that even though they didn’t know why they were heading into danger, they followed orders and made the best out of the situation. As he got to his station he surveyed the officer littered bridge. Commodore T’Mar immediately began helping the engineering department by realigning the magnetic coils on the ship and the other officers did as they were ordered. Pai and Katie both knew that it was very ironic that Commodore T’Mar had ordered him to make sensor ghost to get them out of this mess. It was this very same idea that had gotten them captured by the Romulans a couple months ago. That was the day that the rift between him and Katie had begun. It was his foolish mistake to put the life of the person he cared about most in the world in jeopardy. It dawned on Paikea that he at that moment was not doing what he had been assigned to do and wasting his time thinking of what could have been was just illogical and time consuming. “Computer, can you download the tactical information from the USS Pink Kitty?” Paikea asked of the computer remembering that the shuttle that he had arrived on the Scavenger was still in its shuttle bay. It had almost been completely destroyed by the Romulans, but it somehow had survived. “Affirmative.” “Okay, download into my console,” Paikea said as he began what surely would be a lot of work. In a matter of seconds Paikea was deep into his work and oblivious to all things around him. The relative peace on the ship was replaced with terror when the ship violently began to shake uncontrollably. Paikea’s sensors couldn’t tell him what was going on, so he scanned the area around the bridge hoping that it would give him the answer, but there was no answer and the ship continued to shake violently. "Commander what the hell is going on?" Commander Cavit asked clearly worried and agitated at the turn of events. "The ship is...."Paikea was about to say, but as suddenly as they began the shaking stopped. "Lt. Anderson what just happened?" Commodore T'Mar asked. Everyone quickly realized that Katie was not on the bridge, in fact Paikea remembered that she was going to repair the shield and deflector control in Junction 23.534. "Computer what caused the shields to go down?" Paikea asked. "The problem originated in Junction 23.5....." Paikea didn't hear the rest of it as he darted out of the bridge and headed towards the lift. He had felt something bad happened, but he had attributed it to the shaking. "Computer shield control," Paikea said almost frantically. To Paikea the ride in the lift lasted an eternity and when it finally opened he dashed out of the lift and into the nearest tube shaft. He didn't really know the specs of the ship, but he knew that the only way to get to where Katie must be was to go through here. Sweat was already falling down his brow and face, the worry and exertion on his body was clearly visible. Paikea took hold of the cold handles leading towards Junction 23.534 and sped through the jefferies tubes. When he finally reached his destination he couldn't help but give out a slight scream of horror and despair. It had been a hard trek here, but nothing compared to physical pain he was feeling at the moment. =^=Paikea to Illito, Katie’s hurt she’s badly wounded and is unconscious=^= Paikea said frantically forgetting formalities all together. Paikea knew that the transporters were offline and the only way to get her to sickbay was to carry her there. =^=Illito I’m taking her there=^= <Tag Illito> Paikea quickly took Katie into his arms and softly headed towards the closest jefferies tube. Paikea had to be meticulous so not to cause her more injury. IN all his thoughts about Katie's safety, Pai's foot didn't catch the railing and his feet slipped below him. Paikea knew that he was falling and that Katie would fall with him. It was just a matter of seconds, but he quickly found a grip on a handle and stopped his vertical fall. Katie hadn't been hurt, but Paikea had been as he put himself between Katie and the metal railings that were there to help people. He knew that he had a cut on his head, but right now that didn't matter, as he continued to check on Katie to see if she was injured more. After realizing that she was not hurt any further, Paikea slowly made his way down and finally made his way back down to a main corridor. =^=Commander, report as soon as you know more,=^= was the only thing that T’Mar said clearly worried for her officer. Paikea couldn't acknowledge his superior, but he was grateful that she knew what was going on. Paikea softly swatted away the hair that was blocking her face and just scanned her face, hoping to see signs of life. Now that he was in the turbolift he knew that it would be a couple of seconds till Katie got the help that she needed. “Katie don’t you dare leave me here,” Paikea begged softly hoping she would react to his pleas,” Katie you’re the only reason that I’m here, I couldn’t do this without you. Dam it Katie say, do something.” <Tag Katie> Paikea couldn’t hear if Katie did respond to him or not, since the swoosh of the doors drowned anything that she may have said. A crewmember that was waiting for the lift was clearly surprised to see Paikea holding Katie in his hands but he immediately moved out of the way and let Paikea go through. Paikea ran all the way towards sickbay, making sure that Katie was as comfortable as possible. He didn’t want to cause her anymore pain as it was. Once he entered sickbay, he saw that Illito was already waiting for her newest patient and Pai softly placed her on the bed. “Illito what ever you do don’t let her…..”Paikea said letting his tears flow in front of the one other person that he trusted on the Scavenger. “Pai, I know,” Illito said as she went to work. Paikea didn’t say anything; he just stood there and let Illito go to work. <Tag Illito/Katie> OOC: Okay, I just wrote a long one too, lol. Katie you are a bad influence . Illito I will respond to Aeryn, but first we Paikea needs to be sure that Katie is okay. ;D

=^=Paikea to Illito, Katie’s hurt she’s badly wounded and is unconscious. Illito I’m taking her there=^=
=/\=Understood,=/\= Illito replied.
She prepared a biobed, and was ready, as soon as Katie was brought in, she started working. “Illito what ever you do don’t let her…..”
“Pai, I know,” Illito said, wishing she could say more, but the most comforting thing she could really do would be to heal Katie.
She scanned Katie, and avoided making eye contact with Paikea as she set to work, because she wasn't sure she could take it right now. She knew that Paikea was very worried, and Illito knew that the best way she healed patients was when she distanced herself from them. But that was harder to do now. Yet still possible, Illito had had practice in this field.
Illito prepared 15 ccs of cordrazine, and injected into Katie. She saw that was helping, and she used a tissue mitigator to heal the slight electrical burns. She saw that Katie was recovering, and that she was going to be conscious soon.
Illito informed Pai of that, then turned, and inserted another 5ccs of cordrazine, which brought Katie back to consciousness.

Lianna had left the mess hall and was on her way back to her quarters, Nico going back to work, when the ship shook hard, almost knocking her from her feet. Phantom immediately at her side, whimpering. She stood unsteadily on her feet, Phantom helping to keep her upright as they moved towards her quarters. They moved slowly and steadily until they reached her quarters, getting inside and settled on the couch as the shaking subsided. At least this time there was nothing in her quarters which could fall on her.
She was frightened and worried about her new found friends on the ship but knew she couldn’t bother them while they worked, worked to find out what happened and deal with the problem. Lianna ran her fingers through Phantoms fun as he lay almost across her lap making sure that nothing could dislodge her from the couch, his ears perked as he listened for anything which might indicate danger.

Illito was busy working on preparing for Katie, when the ship shuddered. =/\=Commander Tintagel to all available off-duty sickbay staff, please report to sickbay=/\= Illito figured as many sickbay staff members as could arrive would be needed, because no one had really been expecting the last shaking, so many injuries could be caused, as shown by the influx of patients.
-----
=/\=Commander Tintagel to all available off-duty sickbay staff, please report to sickbay=/\= Nico sighed, and followed the instructions. He was rather surprised that there were a lot of injured people here, but noticed that a lot of them were injuries that were only being brought down now because the officers hadn't wanted to come down until they finished their shift. He saw that more medics were needed than were available.
He walked up to the CMO, Commander Tintagel. "I think I know someone who can help down in sickbay," he said. "She has medical training and would probably be willing to help."
Illito nodded. "By all means, then, we can use all the help we can get. And thank your friend for me if she can come down here."
Nico nodded, and move a distance away, before tapping his commbadge. =/\=This is Nico-Ensign Todaro-to Lianna=/\= he said, deciding on giving his name and rank, to make it clear it was a business call, much as he would have liked to call on Lianna just to talk to her. But Nico knew that sickbay could use her help now.
=/\=If you are available, we could really use your help in sickbay now=/\= he said.
<Tag Lianna>
=/\=Thank you so much,=/\= he replied, then went back to work while he waited for her to arrive.

Lianna had just stood up after the ship shook when her combadge blipped.
=/\= This is Nico-Ensign Todaro-to Lianna =/\= came Nicos voice.
She looked down at Phantom who wagged his tail at the sound of the voice. He seemed to sense that something was going to happen.
=/\= Go ahead =/\= She still wasn’t used to replying using the combadges but would soon learn.
=/\= If you are available, we could really use your help in sickbay now. =/\= he continued
=/\= I’ll be right there Nico. Mind if Phantom tags along, he’ll stay out of the way. =/\= she promised him as she stood and headed for the door of her quarters, Phantom at her side, sticking close in case the ship were to shake anymore.
=/\=Thank you so much,=/\= he replied before closing the channel.
“Come on Phantom, looks like we have work to do.” She rested her hand on his back as they made their way back through the ships corridors to sickbay entering shortly after. Phantom quickly found a place out of the way in one of the corners to curl up in, his head resting on his paws while his dark eyes roved over those in sickbay, keeping an eye on his mistress and those who he now knew to be his friends.

Nico smiled when Lianna arrived, and made sure he was the one who greeted her, since others might ask her what she was doing here, and he knew that she would be of great help.
"Hi," he said, then gestured around at sickbay. "Most of the people are here with minor injuries, that just need to be healed," he explained. "Just ask me if you have any questions, or if anything is more serious," Nico said, frowning slightly, nothing should be, since these were mostly injuries that had happened on duty, but that the wounded chose not to have healed right away. And if they had suffered serious injuries than there was obviously a problem.
<Tag Lianna>[/b]
"And if you don't feel too awkward doing it, tell them in the future to drop by earlier," Nico said. "But if you don't feel like lecturing, don't worry about it too much," Nico explained, since he knew that was in many ways one of the harder parts of the first few days in sickbay; trying to convince patients that they actually should get healed when they got injured, even though it all seemed perfectly obvious to him.

Nico went his own way to heal patients, and Lianna did the same.

Lianna watched Phantom lay down out of the way and turned as Nico appeared at her side.
"Hi, Most of the people are here with minor injuries, that just need to be healed. Just ask me if you have any questions, or if anything is more serious."
She smiled slightly. “I think I can handle minor injuries Nico, thanks. I will make sure to ask if I have any problems though.” She knew this was a testing ground and she wasn’t about to fall on her face. That was one reason the sensor net had been created to give her a greater freedom than sitting and stagnating due to not being able to see or care for herself.
"And if you don't feel too awkward doing it, tell them in the future to drop by earlier," Nico continued. "But if you don't feel like lecturing, don't worry about it too much."
Lianna laughed “I’ll see what I can do Sir.” with that she turned and headed to the first biobed where there was a patient. She picked up the PADD there which had the crewman's injuries on it. “What have we here?” she said with a smile as she began working.
Phantom all the while, watched, his head on his paws. His job was to keep his mistress safe but even he knew when he needed to remain out of the way. Lianna moved from patient to patient, often returning to the first to double-check her findings and carefully keeping a record of each one to give to either Dr. Tintagel or to Nico when she was done so they could follow-up.

Katie could hear talking in the distance. It was faint but she could still make out words and sounds. she had to admit this was one of the strangest sensations she had ever felt in her life. Katie slowly opened her eyes and was quickly blinded by the light.
"The shields, the shields need to be fixed." Katie asked weakly trying to get up.
Paikea quickly and gently grabbed Katie's shoulders, keeping her on the bed while Illito continued her work. Katie continued to go on about what happened. Then she felt a soft finger press gently against her lips and a warm voice in her ear telling her to calm down and that it would be all right.
Katie knew the voice but she couldn't place it, she couldn't do much of anything besides feel pain. There was a constant throbbing in her head and her entire body felt weak as if she had been flexing all her muscles for a long time.
The touch of a cold metal object pressed against Katie's neck which was followed by a hissing sound. Instantly Katie's pain began to go away, and her eyes weren't as sensitive to the light in sickbay.
Opening her eyes for a second time she saw Paikea and Illito standing over her. Paikea had wide hopeful eyes while the doctor's eyes showed the signs of a job well done. She had saved another life.
"I need to get up, I need to fix the shields. It's all my fault, I need to get up." Katie said rapidly.
Paikea tried to calm her down again but this time he was unable to. Katie pushed harder to try and get off the bed but was no match for Paikea's strength. Katie again felt the touch of a cold object on her neck before everything went black again.

Paikea could only hope that Illito could help Katie as quickly as possible. He didn't doubt Illito's ability as a doctor one bit, but he couldn't help but worry.
"The shields, the shields need to be fixed." Katie asked weakly trying to get up.
Paikea saw this so he quickly and gently grabbed Katie's shoulders, keeping her on the bed while Illito continued her work. It worried him to hear Katie continue talking about the shields, but she must of just been hallucinating things. To try and keep Katie quiet, Paikea's finger press gently against her lips and Paikea quietly began telling her to calm down and that it would be all right, he would not leave her.
Illito resumed her work, which to Paikea seemed so alien and distant. He knew that doctors were supposed to be objective and unbiased, but Katie was her friend as well.
"Illito how are things going?" Paikea asked hoping to hear some good news. He didn't get a response as Illito pressed a hypospray to Katie's neck.
Paikea's eyes immediately turned to see Katie's reaction. He was ecstatic to see Katie's eyes open wide, but Paikea quickly knew that things were not right.
"I need to get up, I need to fix the shields. It's all my fault, I need to get up." Katie said rapidly.
Paikea once again tried to keep her calm, but this time that didn't work. She was putting more pressure on her and it couldn't be good for her health.
"Illito she is panicking, help her!" Paikea said almost screaming. Illito quickly grabbed what Paikea thought to be a sedative and administered it to Katie. Her struggling soon stopped and she fell asleep.
Illito gently placed her hands on Paikea's shoulder, trying to comfort him through this. Paikea greatly appreciated this, but he wanted to be alone with Katie, he had to be alone with Katie. It seemed as she immediately understood and told him if anything happened she would be in her office.
Paikea just looked upon the face of the woman that he loved. There of course had been trouble with both of them recently, but his feelings for her never wavered. He knew that her feelings hadn't wavered either, but this was new to both of them and they didn't want to get hurt in the process.
Paikea took hold of Katie's hand and softly kissed it. Even though he was needed else where, he wouldn't be going anywhere. This was where he needed to be and no one could tell him differently.

Nico noticed that sickbay was gradually emptying, until it was empty enough, with enough people healed, that those who were supposed to be off-duty could go off-duty for now. Commander Tintagel had suggested that those people get some sleep, since it was possible they would be needed again.
Nico walked up to Lianna, and smiled at her. He had kept an eye on her in case she had needed help, but she hadn’t, in fact, her conduct had impressed him very much. “Did you ever think of getting training to become a full medic?” he asked, completely serious.
<Tag Lianna>
“You could probably get the training on this ship. In fact, I bet Commander Tintagel would be able to teach you, if you are interested,” he said, hoping she would at least think about it, since Nico thought Lianna would make a great medic.

Lianna was washing her hands when Nico approached, smiling “Did you ever think of getting training to become a full medic?” he asked. She shook her head. “I’m blind Nico, there isn’t much I can do without help.” She let out a sigh as she dried off her hands and turned towards the medic, Phantom joining them and nuzzling them both with his wet nose.
She laughed and bent down to pet him as Nico continued. “You could probably get the training on this ship. In fact, I bet Commander Tintagel would be able to teach you, if you are interested,” Lianna straightened up. “You really think so? I would like that but what about Phantom? I can’t leave him in my quarters, he’d have to be here with me.” Lianna was worried that he would be left behind and she knew that in an emergency he had to be at her side.

“I would like that but what about Phantom? I can’t leave him in my quarters, he’d have to be here with me.”
“That should be fine,” Nico replied. “He seems to me to be well trained enough that he’s certainly not a nuisance. He even seems to improve the atmosphere of sickbay, especially for children,” he said. Nico had noticed the way the dog had interacted with the young boy who had been in sickbay. And he also understood that Lianna seemed to need him.
<Tag Lianna>[/b]
“So, shall we ask Commander Tintagel about it?” Nico asked.

Illito noticed two people, one of her medics, Ensign Todaro, and Lianna, approaching her office. As they entered, she looked up and smiled. “Hello,” she said. “What can I help you with?”
<Tag Lianna>[/b]
“You want to be a medic?” Illito asking, making sure, but delighted with the notion. “Of course. I can train you, if you really want this.”
<Tag Lianna>[/b]
“I can do that. I’ll need to check with Commodore T’Mar, but I can’t see her objecting. It’s not like the art of healing people is limited to Starfleet personnel. After you’re trained, are you going to want to serve a shift in sickbay, or not?” Illito asked, hoping that Lianna would want to, since Illito could certainly use a medic of her capabilities, but she understood that Lianna might choose not to.
