Lianna laughed at Phantom and the look that Nico gave him. “He’ll calm down eventually Nico, I promise.” She snapped her fingers and Phantom sat down next to her as they talked.
She tipped her head as Nico inspected the implants, obviously intrigued.
How much do they allow you to see?” he asked.
“I can see a lot better with the implants, they connect directly with my optic nerves which gives me a broader spectrum of color and not just the light and dark which the sensor net gave me.” she said as he continued to look over the PADD and the implants.
“Fascinating,” Nico replied. “When,” he started, and had planned to ask Lianna when she had gotten the implants, but then he noticed that the PADD had the date implanted already in it, so he trailed off. “Have you encountered any problems with the implants yet?”
“So far they haven’t given me any problems, other than a slight headache which the starbases doctor said would go away the more I used them and as I got used to them.” she continued, answering his questions.
She held up her hand as he offered her back the PADD. “No, give that to the doctor, for her records.” Lianna smiled as she looked at Nico, it was strange AND exciting seeing him for the first time like this.
“Well, my shift ends in about five minutes, I'll come by in a bit then and pick you up, to go to the holodeck together,” Nico suggested.
“I’ll be ready.” Lianna said, their conversation coming to an end, she left sickbay with Phantom at her side.
She had decided on a pale yellow sleeveless dress, which hang down to her ankles. She slipped her arm through his as they started out towards the holodeck. Phantom, walking calmly at her side this time. He seemed to understand he should be on his best behavior.<tag Nico>

Pride: Left his station at the end of his shift and headed to his quarters to get changed. What am I going to wear he thought to him self. He had made up his mind after reaching his quarters to wear clothing from home. He put on a simple pair of cotton like pants and a shirt to match. They had been designed to be comfortable and practicle. They were tight fitting showing off his fit body and allowing freedom of movement. They were white in color and extremly durable.
Pride: Looked over at sandy who was still wanting to go"okay you can go but you must behave your self okay" Sandy made some chirping noises and craweled up his sleave and rapped herself around his neck. Pride left his quarters and arrived at the holodeck the party was already in full swing. Pride entered and saw there new Commander talking to people. Pride started scanning the area and noticed a formal dressed Marine Rezula I think is her name. She didn't look happy about being there cant say's I blame here.
Pride: Well Sandy lets get this over with pride walked over to Rezula and started to talk to her. " I see that you aren't much into parties can't say's I blame you"
" I can't imagen your very comfortable in that uniform either all thought I have to admit its very sharp better then starfleet dress."
" So how do you like our ship"
Pride waited for answer sandy was being alittle cautious Pride could tell sandy didn't know what to make of the marine. It looked like she was waiting for trouble to happen, pride chalked it up to the training the marines had to go through. If it was easy to be a marine then there would be more of them as it stood now they were hard to come by. <Tag Rezula>

Karigan Mercia, the new and reluctant CEO of the USS Scavenger tugged on the neck of her uniform. If there was definately one thing she could not stand in Starfleet it was the blasted dress uniforms. Tight, itchy and bleedin' HOT!!
She stepped into the Holodeck. She couldn't understand it. Why the hell was she here? She just wanted to fiddle with the ship's systems, not play dress up. The Betazoid's black eyes swept across the group. She grited her teeth then put on a smile that would have made her gradmother proud and went to 'mingle'.
Even though someone had come to talk to her, Rez had noticed a new person enter the scene. ~With a smile like that, I bet she is up to no good. I better get to the bottom of this, and fast.~ Rez thought, and walked toward the newcomer.
She reached the newcomer. "Hello there, and who might you be?" She said trying to do her job, well a little of what she thought was her job.
Kari blinked startled and studied the other person. "Ensign Karigan Merica, apparently the Chief Engineer." Unconsciously she tugged on the neck of her uniform. "And you?"
"I am Rezula, the new Marine. For some reason I thought you might be up to no good," she said only saying part of what she was thinking.
Kari's eyes narrowed as she studied the Marine. "And why exactly did you think that?" Kari's voice held a tone of cold indifference.
"It was your smile. Now I am sure no good is coming. I would think an engineer would rather be fixing the ship, not playing nicey nice with the crew," she said not saying anything about how she didn't want to be there either. It was evident the engineer wasn't here for long.
Kari's black eyes hardened. She was pretty sure she was being insulted in someway. "Actually, you're right. I don't want to be here. But orders are orders. I thought a Marine would know that."
"Yes, I do know that, and I understand the contempt of being here. This is a waste of time," she said, but not too loudly. She didn't want anyone in command to hear her.
"I think you and I have gotten off on the wrong foot though. So, what has brought you to starfleet?" She said hoping not to offend this person. She didn't have any friends, but she was used to going it alone.
"A change." Kari stated. "I've gone to college on Earth, been on a freighter as the Engineer, and on a ice world as a system engineer. This I thought would be a change. And it keeps me away from my grandmother."
"Some reason you wish to be away from your grandma?" Rez said not sure why anyone would wish to be away from their family.
"My grandmother is you typical old fashioned Betazoid. SHe doesn't like me being away from home. She'd rather I get married and do something respectful."
"I take it you don't want to?" Rez said knowing fully what it was like wanting to be different. She found it easy to be different, even on her homeworld.
"Not at all. I haven't been to Betazed since I was 16. And I have no desire to go back for a while." Kari closed her eyes. How did you explain what it wasl ike having all the thoughts pressing in on a person. It could drive a person nuts. Which was why Kari was an Engineer, not a counselor.
"I wouldn't know about that. I never knew about my family. I would love to have one, but then again, being on your own without one is easier. Or at least that is what I have found to be true. I don't know if that would be the same for you," she said, and realized she shared too much
Kari may have been what some considered cold hearted, especially considering her heritage, but she really wasn't. "What do you mean?" Kari asked.
"I have been alone since I was born. It is our customs, and I hate them. I tried to find my family once, but I couldn't find a thing. I have see others with families, and have decided that families make you weak. I can't afford to be weak," she said feeling her anger rise.
Kari stepped back, even with her mental defenses she could feel the woman's anger. She absently rubbed her temple. "Not really, families don't make you weak. Despite my comlaints about mine, they have been there for me. They didn't...well..lock me up for my oddities."
"Yes, but what good is a family? I have never seen any use for one, and have done very well without one," she said, and then took a deep breath. She released it and felt her anger disappear.
"They can be there for you when things go really bad." Kari stated. "They are a source of strength." Kari shrugged. "It's hard to explain. While I like my family as far from me, I know that if I ever needed anything, they'd be there for me and I appreciate that."
"I have only had to rely on myself, even when things were going sour for me. I don't think I could ever get used to a family. I would like to know about that experience though," she said her curiosity peeked.
Kari blinked. "Well, I guess...I guess it's like have the crew. You know that they are there for you and will support you through thick and thin."
"I don't know that though. I am new here too," she said and suddenly being alone hurt a little. She didn't know how to describe it, and she wasn't sure she wanted to.
"Well, I'm new here too. Tell you what, I'll help you out with that? That works?" Kari asked.
"Okay, we can try it, but I am not sure how this works," she admited not knowing what a family was at all. She wanted to be part of something, that is why she was a marine, to be part of a team.
Kari glanced around then leaned in as if to share a secert. "I'm not all the positive myself. And I grew up with a family."
She chuckled and smiled for the first time in days. She felt more relaxed with this woman, but she wasn't sure why she should. "Well, then I guess we both have something to learn from this. Maybe we should stick together in this party, it might be more fun than spliting up," she suggested.
"I agree." Kari glanced around. "So isn't there supposed to be food at a party?"
"I thought there was somewhere. Nothing too good though. Maybe our first act together should be to get some real party food in here. What do you think?" She suggested and smiled wickedly.
Kari grinned. "I think you will be glad to have an engineer on your side for this endeavor."
"Good, now where do u think we should search for some goodies. I'm no chef, so making them ourselves might not be a good idea. I don't think asking the holodeck would be wise either, we want real food. What do you think? Can you cook?" She asked realizing her new ally may be able to do what she couldn't.
"Nope. Only good at burning things. But there are always the replicator. I'm pretty certain I can get them to work up something decent, and by pass any overrrides that may keep us mass producing food."
"Then we should return in a bit with some real food. There is nothing in the orders says we can't leave and come back later. Shall we go see what kind of menu we can find?" Rez asked turning to leave.
"Lead the way, fearless Marine," Kari quipped.

"Katie I will meet up with you later," Paikea said as he went off to side with Zach. "OK." Katie replied trying not to sound sad.
Katie watched Paikea walk away with somebody she didn't know and all of the sudden she felt very alone. Even though she had been assigned to the ship at the same time as Paikea she knew only a handful of the crew and none of which were at this event. It wasn't long before Katie found herself standing in the corner watching everybody have a good time.OFF: Somebody PLEASE talk to me!

Illito noticed the Captain approaching her. She had seen that he was quite busy, and hadn't wanted to disturb him, but she had wanted to congratulate him. "Good evening Doctor." He said. "Enjoying yourself?"
Illito smiled slightly at the captain. “No, sir, not really,” she admitted. “But it's just me, not the party,” Illito tried to reassure him, not sure if she would be successful, if it was necessary, or if it was true. Illito hadn't been to many parties, well, only one other party, if Starfleet graduation counted as a party, which, well, it might. But most people, with the exception of the majority of the senior staff, seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Someone, they looked like a holo-waiter, and probably was one, tried to give Illito some champagne, but she declined to take it, asking instead just for water. Fancy replicated alcoholic beverages seemed unnecessary, but Illito did want to have something to drink, if only so she could sip it if she needed to in order to avoid responding immediately. Not that she foresaw having to, but at this kind of event it was more likely than normal.
“Congratulations on your command position, sir,” Illito continued, a little bit later, after the holo-waiter had left. She wasn't sure what else to say though, she might have been able to start a conversation, but she was sure that the new Captain had better things to do than hang near his Chief Medical Officer.

Nico walked next to Lianna as they proceeded to the holodeck. He felt very happy, and almost...proud, that Lianna had chosen to come with him. They arrived at the holodeck, and Nico looked around, searching for people he knew, and also trying to get a feel for the type of party this was. Nico glanced around at the rest of the people, but they mostly seemed to be just talking. “Would you like to meet some of the other members of the crew?” Nico asked, since that seemed to be what most people were doing, and there were a great number of new people just transferred aboard.
<Tag Lianna>
“Or do you want to congratulate the new Captain?” Nico asked, suddenly remembering what this gathering was all about. He didn't care all that much if they congratulated the captain now or later, but he thought they should at some point introduce themselves and offer their congratulations at some point. But the commanding officer might well be busy now.

-----
Aeryn decided that since she was at the party anyway she might as well enjoy herself. She noticed several people standing, but althought they are sort of close to each other, they aren't talking, so she approaches them both, smiling. “Hello,” she greeted them both. “I'm Aeryn, engineering staff.” Aeryn gave her position since she wasn't wearing her uniform, she figured it was only polite to tell information that others would normally be able to find out on their own. She hoped neither thought she was intruding, but most other people were already engaged in conversation.

Lianna smiled slightly and took a firmer hold on his arm as they entered the holodeck. She’d not met many of the crew yet and still felt very much the outsider. “Would you like to meet some of the other members of the crew?” She nodded at his question about meeting some of the crew. If she was going to work alongside them she should get to know them.
“I think that would be a good idea Nico. Do you think they will like me?” She didn’t mean her personally but that she was a civilian, trying to fit in, on a Star Fleet Vessel.
Her implants helped her get a better view of the holodeck, the colors, the quality of the images they were sending were far more than she’d ever dealt with and they were almost overwhelming.
She stopped briefly and glanced at the new Captain as Nico spoke again. “Or do you want to congratulate the new Captain?” Her gaze came back to Nico, she whispered in his ear. “Whenever you want.” She could almost feel, in his words, how he wanted to wait on meeting him. It gave them time to meet with the rest of the crew and with the Captain obviously busy anyway it meant they were free to enjoy each other until he was free.
Phantom remained at her side, his body rubbing her leg as they walked. Her free hand reaching down to run through the fur on his head and scratch his ears.
"How are you doing boy?" she whispered, glancing down at him.

Pride: Noticed that the officer who ran over him when he came aboard was standing by herself. I think kate is her name well only one way to find out. He walked over to where she was standing and said hello
" Hi your name is kate right I hope I got your name right. You can call me pride oh by the way you don't plan on running me over again right." Pride was smiling hoping that she knew he was just joking. As he waited for her to say something he noticed another officer walking to wards them he was quite sure if he knew the name so he waited for her to say something.
Pride still felt alittle out of place but he noticed that he wasn't the only one it would seem that there were other officer at the party who wanted to be some place else then her. Well its nice to know that I"m not the only one he thought to him self. <Tag Kate and Aeryn>

Pai so wished that the Scavenger had a counselor. If the ship had one, there wouldn't be any need for Zach to come to him. He was honored that Zach would ask for his help, but it at the same time was a bit awkward. Pai noticed that Zach left the party soon after there talk finished.
The conversation with Zach had been a lot longer than planned and Pai had lost track of Katie. Hopefully she won't be mad at me, Paikea thought as he looked for. After a few moments of searching he found Katie talking to Lt. Pride. A surge of anger and jealousy coursed through Pai's body, that he was trembling. When Pai realized this he immediately stopped himself, he was being stupid he told himself. He knew that Katie was not a very social person when she was around people she didn't know.
Paikea calmed himself down and walked towards Katie, Pride, and Aeryn who had just joined them. Aeryn and Paikea's friendship was rocky at best. He had demoted her last mission and they had not talked much about it since. Paikea of course had read her letter and fully understood her actions, but it could not be taken back. The Scavenger had received a new Chief Engineer who was more than competent.
"Hello Aeryn, Pride, Katie," Paikea said holding Katie's gaze for the longest time," I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

Pride: Watch as Commander Apirana walk up and join there group at the same time Sandy who was wrapped around his shoulders and neck started to react a little defensively to his arrival like she had picked up on something. Pride thought it was a little strange and gave her a quick pat on her head to let her know ever thing was okay. He thought is was strange she only did that if she felt like pride was being threatened.
" Sorry commander she don't normally act like that it must be the new surrounding" Sandy calmed down but pride noticed that she was watching the commander very carefully. " I was justing to know the officer that ran me over when I came aboard " Laughing alittle. " So Commander how long before the new captain I mean Commander tells us what our next mission will be" <Tag Apirana>
Pride waited for a reply wondering when they would get to leave space dock he longed to be out in the stars seeing what was out there.
OCC Sandy wont hurt anybody she just picks up on feelings people give off and reacts to them at no time will my pet hurt a member of the crew

"Hi your name is kate right I hope I got your name right. You can call me pride oh by the way you don't plan on running me over again right."
Katie looked down slightly embarassed. She had totally forgotten that she had run over Lt. Pride just the other day.
"Yes you got my name right." Katie replied with a smile.
“Hello,” she greeted them both. “I'm Aeryn, engineering staff.” Aeryn gave her position since she wasn't wearing her uniform, she figured it was only polite to tell information that others would normally be able to find out on their own.
"It's nice to meet you Aeryn. I'm Katie and this is Pride. How long have you been on the Scavenger Aeryn?" Katie asked.
Katie was happy to have people to talk with but she kept finding herself looking around for Paikea. It wasn't long before she finally caught his gaze. He was standing alone in the opposite side of the room looking her way. Katie waved him over with a smile on her face.
"Hello Aeryn, Pride, Katie," Paikea said holding Katie's gaze for the longest time," I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
"Not at all." Katie said as moved to stand next to Paikea.

"Congratulations on your command position, sir."
Luke smiled. "Thank you Doctor, I must say it came as a little bit of a surprise what with all that has happened recently." He paused and frowned. Was it always going to come back to this? "I hope the transition from Commodore T'Mar to myself will be smooth, this is a good Ship and an even better crew, I hope for this to work out." He paused again, scratching just above his right eye. "Perhaps you can help me Commander, you spend the fair majority of your time in Sickbay, people coming and going. How do you think the crew is currently? With no Ship's Counsellor, you are the obvious one to turn to."
<TAG Illito>
Luke nodded and was about to reply when he received a tap on the shoulder.
"The food is ready Commander." A man in a Warrant Officer's Uniform said.
"Thank you. Please excuse me Doctor." He said to Illito. "I must address the crew!"
He left the Cardassian Doctor alone once more as he headed up onto the main stage. He tapped a command on a small podium and a microphone revealed itself from its hidden position.
"Greetings one and all!" Luke called out across the room. The chatter immediately began to die down and Luke smiled. "It is good to see so many of you here, wining and dining as it were! The food will be served shortly so I would like to take this time to say thank you all for making me so welcome and I look forward to getting to know you all! Now enjoy the rest of your night!"
Luke stepped down off the stage and took a long steadying sip of Champagne, he usually didn't feel nervous when it came to things like that, however today he just couldn't seem to stay calm.

Bleh writers block gotta love it
Semia walked in the airlock and stared at Assailant once more they would be leaving soon and she didn't know when she would return to Losekene , he insisted to leave Michelle behind but she couldn't not right now. Looking at her daughter who was holding Semia's hand and in the other Artemis the tibble in the other, "Mommy where we going?" Michelle asked "On a starship , one where mommy lives , and you will too" Michelle gave her a look that said that she didn't like the idea but when Semia started walking with her in tow she knew she didn't have much choice. Taking Michelle to her quarters she head a beep and she spun in instict and grabbed it , and it turned out to be okro. "Ma'am pleasure to serve you " it bowed Letting the robot go she let out a huff of breath in annoyance and rolled her eyes figures Loskene would send him with her. "Very well" Semia said and she entered her quarters and looked around and realized there was no place for Michelle to sleep she never had her daughter with her on the Scavanger before, she sighed and looked at Orkro "Can you watch Michelle for a while you probably gonna be doing it a lot seeing i'm always busy " Orko bowed and responded "yes ma'am" Semia nodded and bent down where Michelle took the liberty of dumping her toybox that was delivered to thier quarters all over the floor and kissed her on the forhead "Mommy will be gone for a bit be a good girl for Orko" Michelle didn't seemed concerned with this and kept on playing as Semia left and headed for the bridge and found lt Hirao in his seat and looked up and smiled and stood at attention "Commander welcome back " he said Sitting in command chair she nodded and smiled "Thanks Jaget , good to see you , had a good time I hope on the assailant ?" "Yes ma'am" he blushed "Was she nice ?" Semia had a michevious grin on her face Hirao turned beet red being betaziod he could tell what she meant by that and nodded. "Good" Semia grinned and leaned back in the chair "So where is everyone ?" "They are at a welcoming party for Commander Drago " He said "Ehh alright fair enough, I'm not much for parties unless it has to do with kicking some @ss" Semia said "Niether am I " Hirao said and looked at his console "Commander I swear one of these days I'm gonna go down to engineering and start kicking butt myself" Semia's eyebrow quirked up in curiosity "oh?" "Third time the sensor panel burned out " he sounded fustrated "Could be worse " Semia said "How so ? have it burn out in the middle of combat instead os the starbase" Hirao said "Well..... not what i had in mind but close enough" Semia laughed and stopped as the doors to the bridge opend revealing a very disgruntled looking security chief Kari Wells. and she stood in front of Semia looking steamed and practically threw a PADD in her lap, "This is the last bloody straw" Kari exploded Semia was raging inside at the distrespect but kept an oddly yet terrifying calm in her expression and voice "Whats the problem " "Read the Padd" Kari growled Calmly looking at it she noted that the Bartender that Semia had a brief fling with got arrested for smuggling romulan ale abord "And? this means what to me?" "I want her off the ship" Kari demanded "No" Semia said simply "WHAT ?" Lt Wells whent red in the back Lt Hirao jumped at her voice "Firzt of all Lt show me some respect " Semia said and then she stood up and came about 7 inches shorter than the Chief of security and lowered her voice an octive making her russian accent more noticble "Or I'll boot you off the ship , physically, she's the best for the job and I authorized the ale" "Thats illegal" Kari said Semia held up her hand and regained the scary calmness "Not really and it can be used for medicinal purposes and she's the best one we can get it from , now your gonna release her lt" Lt Wells didn't move for minute then stormed off without a word but not before giving Commander Cavit the middle finger behind her back and left. Lt Hirao let out a breath and blew out his cheeks and shook his head and held up his middle finger pointed at the turbo lift and then at Semia silently stating what she security chief done behind thier first officers back and then he paused and saw the stern look that Semia was giving him and looked at his hand noticing he was still giving her the finger and looked abashed and nodded and turned around. "Hirao you have a way with people " Semia said

Pride: Watched the inter action between Kate and Paikea and decided it was time to leave. He could tell the two wanted to spend some time together and couldn't blame them. He turned to look at Aeryn " It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to working with you"
Pride: Looked over at Kate and Paikea " If you will excuse me but there is something I must do Please continue with out me" Pride walked off and headed to the view port, Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to grow up like a normal person. Pride put the thought aside as soon as it entered his head. His adoptive family had shown him nothing but love, because them he had learned things that gave him his special abilitys and a better understanding of the power of the mind. Pride stood there and stared out at the star's wanting to be among them and not stuck in space dock. <tag anyone who wants to join in>

“I think the crew is fine, sir,” Illito replied honestly. She wasn't fully in agreement with the statement that she saw the comings and goings of most of the crew, just those that became sick and injured, which meant the crew sample she saw tended to be much more upset than Illito guessed the average crewmember was, but Illito did see the Captain's point. “The recent R&R certainly helped everyone relax, and, in my opinion, they are ready for most whatever should get thrown at them,” Illito finished, then the Captain leave to announce the readiness of the food.
Illito looked around, and saw that the food was ready, but she wasn't particularly hungry, so didn't get anything to eat.
She walked over to watch the stars, and noticed someone already there, Lieutenant Pride, whom she recognized as having talked to him a few times, but not much to really know him. Still, he seemed lost in his thoughts, so she didn't want to interrupt him. “Hello,” she said briefly, issuing him an invitation to talk to her if he wanted, or he could stay silent. She didn't need a response, but this way he would be aware of her presence.
<Tag Pride>[/b]
-------
"It's nice to meet you Aeryn. I'm Katie and this is Pride. How long have you been on the Scavenger Aeryn?" Katie asked.
“Two years,” Aeryn replied. She would have responded with asking how long Katie had been aboard, but she remembered that Katie had come aboard at the same time as Commander Apirana, so had no need to ask. Instead, Aeryn just smiled slightly, friendly.
Then Commander Apirana appeared, and Aeryn suddenly found the door out of the holodeck looking very interesting.
“I have an elsewhere to be too,” Aeryn said after Lieutenant Pride had gone, then left quickly. She didn't really have to be anywhere else, but if she did she would rather be there than where she had just been. It wasn't that she wanted to avoid talking to Pai, or that she was going to hide, or, at least, it wasn't like she was really considering acting on those vague fears. But she did think that it might be better if she stayed in Engineering for the next few days...or months.
Aeryn glanced around, decided there wasn't much reason to be here, she could get food from twelve-forward, and it was likely to be nearly deserted-a good thing, in her opinion.
-------
“Let's go talk to someone,” Nico decided. The Captain was a someone, but Nico knew that Lianna had meant that they would talk to someone else. Nico glanced around, there were some people he knew, but they mostly worked in sickbay, so Lianna had already met them. He had a great deal of inter-departmental contact, but it was limited; he had found it easier to be friends who shared the same threat of being called down to sickbay to help and who had the much the same job as he him.
As we was walking towards someone he thought he knew vaguely well, well enough to know their name and that they knew his, and that they occasionally talked together, he noticed the Captain talking. Nico stopped talking to Lianna to look up and see what the new Captain had to say. It was the standard greetings and promise of food.
Nico and Lianna resumed their conversation, but as they were walking, Nico noticed the new Captain in the path they were heading. Nico shrugged, he guessed that they might as well give their congratulations now, since the Captain didn't seem to be talking to anyone else. “Welcome aboard the ship, Captain,” Nico said. He wondered if he should give his rank/position, since otherwise he knew the Captain's position and the Captain didn't know his, but Nico felt out of place as a simple medical staff-member. Still...”I'm Nico Todaro, medical staff, and I look forward to serving under your command,” Nico said.

Pride: Noticed that the doctor was standing next to him watching the star's. They both new they were holograms but just the same they were nice to look at. The doctor was being nice and said hello. " Hello commander how are you tonight, I hope well. "
As a after thought Pride decided to Congratuate her on the position on the bridge. " By the way congrats on the bridge position" Pride could tell she wasn't very happy about it he could understand why she was a doctor she would be happyer in sick bay.
" So Commander what do you think of our new CO if I may ask" Pride was just trying to gage the commander to see what she thought and to see if he might be able to make a new friend he didn't have very many.
while he waited for a respone he looked at the star's. " You know Commander my adpotive home world use to say that the stars are our future that all things come full circle and begin again. I"v always tried to figure out what they met by that, my parents use to say that when I figure that out I wont have anymore questions about anything again. Still haven't figured it out maybe one day" Pride continued to look he was hoping the Commander would say something <Tag Tinagel>

“Let's go talk to someone,” Nico decided.
“I’d like that Nico, thank you.” Lianna said quietly, her gaze moving around the room. She could tell who Nico wanted to meet as her eyes fell on the new Captain.
Lianna stayed close to Nico and Phantom stayed close to her. Nobody seemed to notice Phantom, which saved her from having to explain why he was with her.
Even though she had sight now, the dog was her guide and protector and that would never change. He was also her friend and companion. They had grown up together and knew each other well.
She was still nervous about meeting people, especially new people who did not know or understand her disability. Phantom could feel this as they moved through the crowd towards the Captain, he reminded her of his presence by pressing his body against her leg as they walked. Her free hand, the one which wasn’t clutching Nicos arm, dropped to run through his fur briefly.
Lianna was excited too, about meeting the Captain. He would be the deciding factor if she remained on board or not, she was still a civilian. Her desire to join the crew had not been brought up to anyone but Nico, and neither had the time yet to even tell the doctor.
Her stance straightened and Phantom sat beside her as Nico spoke, introducing himself to the Captain.

“Yeah, I'm doing well,” Illito replied to Pride's question. “Though as to my place on the bridge-I doubt I need a chair built, since I don't intend to be needed on the bridge much.”
Illito was silent for a while, as she thought about the question Pride had just raised about what she thought of the CO. “I think he's fine. Seems to have his own ideas of how to run things, but I would expect that from a Captain,” she said.
“The stars are our future?” Illito said, softly repeating it. “I like that. It sounds...poetic. I don't have a clue what it would really mean though,” Illito said, thinking about the idea. “Oh, and you don't have to call me Commander-Illito is fine,” Illito continued.
Illito smiled suddenly, since Lt. Pride's question had sparked a some-what amusing memory of herself. “My aunt used to say about the stars that they were one of few things in the universe you could trust. Since they aren't sentient they can't attack you from behind.” Illito glanced at Pride to see his response. “I never much liked my aunt though, and am certainly not about to listen to that piece of advice.” Illito hadn't even been sure whether her aunt had really meant it, or had just been trying to annoy her, though she thought it would more likely be the latter.

Nico looked at Lianna as they waited for the Captain to reply. He noticed that she was nervous. He was nervous himself, but he suppressed it and smiled reassuringly at her, since he doubted the Captain was about to throw anyone off the ship based on a social conversation. Though Nico did want to make a good first impression.
He gently squeezed Lianna's hand for a few seconds, since he had noticed she was clutching his arm; he was trying to let her know that he was here, right beside her, to lend confidence. He hoped she hadn't forgotten, and he was pretty sure she hadn't, but just to be sure. Besides, he knew from personal experience that having someone he knew nearby could help, even without them doing anything.

OOC: another joint post between Kari and myself.
IC:
She almost wanted to laugh at hearing the last statement. ~Fearless marine? I highly doubt that statement, but then again she doesn't know me. She will learn.~ Rez thought happy to have someone to have fun with.
"So, where are we going to get enough food to feed a small army?" Rez asked not having a complete plan for this.
Kari shrugged. "There's always the messhall or a replicator."
"Which would be better for us though? I am not skilled in creating food, are you?" She replied quickly not sure what the other woman's skills were in this art.
"Not at all. The messhall would be the best bet becuase it does have more replicators so we can replicate more food that way."
"Then to the messhall we go. So, tell me a bit about you," she said realizing she was being nosy again. She liked being nosy though, there was no other way she could learn information unless she snooped a bit.
Kari blinked then shrugged. "I'm a Betazoid, born and raised on Betazed. I moved to Earth and went to MIT. From there I worked on a private frieghter, then as systems engineer on a ice planet. Then I joined Starfleet. That's me in a nut shell. What about you?"
"Not much there, I was pretty much on my own since birth, not having anyone there to care about or for me. I joined the military back home, and when I was doing good I found I was on top and felt like nothing bad could happen to me. I was highly decorated and everything, then an assassain came forth and we lost our world leader. They said it was my fault, that I was in charge and I blew it big time. I lost everything in the blink of an eye. I knew then and there that I would have to leave home, so I did. I explored for a few years, and then found the Federation. As they say, the rest is history."
As they stepped into the turbolift, Kari gave a slight nod to show she was listening. "I'm sorry to hear that." After a brief pause she added, "What deck is the messhall on?"
"It happens, I am not sorry it happened. I wondered how long before I was to take the plunge. I knew it would happen sooner or later, I had something that was too good. As for the mess hall, um...." she stated, and then told the computer which deck they needed.
"So, what do you like to do for fun?" She asked, wondering about that, since having fun was a new concept to her. She liked this so far.
"Bash computers with wrenches." Kari joked. "Actually, I play a saxophone. But usually after someone calls em a workaholic and that I need a break."
"I thought an engineer was suppose to fix things, not break them,?" Rez said teasing the other woman, and then after some thought had a question. "What is a saxophone?"
Kari blinked. "It's an old Earth woodwind intrument. Except it's not made out of wood, but metal." Kari shrugged. "It was a jazz, a style of music, intrument. I'll show you some time."
She didn't quite understand it, but she didn't ask any further. "I would like that, as for music we have our own style. I could show you some time if you want," she said trying to continue to make conversation. She wasn't sure what to say next, and wondered what the chief was thinking.
That would be nice. Where exactly are your people from?" Kari finally asked curiousity getting the best of her.
"Romatos Three, in the Setora Sector. It's a good distance from here, and I doubt many have heard of it. What is Betazed like?" She said as they reached the mess hall.
"It's a lot like Earth, but more peaceful. Or was before the Dominion War, now we got a slightly more..agressive society."
She chuckled, and thought before she spoke. "What is Earth like? Sorry, but I asked to be placed on a ship while going through the academy, so I have no clue what Earth is like at all," she said hoping this wouldn't be too difficult for her to explain.
"That's kind of hard to explain honestly." Kari stared at the mess hall doors trying to figure out how to answer. "it's different depending on what part you visit."
"Ok, well maybe sometime I will get to visit Earth, who knows. Here we are, the mess hall. So should we go and see what is on the menu?"
"I think that would be the best thing to do, it would give us an idea of what to order."
She only nodded, and they entered the mess hall. Rez looked around a little realizing she hadn't seen much of the ship. They both walked over to a replicator.
"I think maybe it should have a theme? Did the party have one already?" She asked not sure of what she was talking about.
"I didn't see one." She keyed up the menu. "Do you have any prefrences on food?"
"Okay, well I love some Gortoilla, or maybe some Renak," she suggested forgetting the differences in their races. "Huh?" Rez realized the problem, and chuckled.
"Sorry, forgot for a minute, won't happen again. By the look of what is in these strange foods, I don't think anyone here would eat anything I have mentioned, or anything that I normally eat. Maybe we should create a theme, might make it easier to choose foods?" She suggested.
"Yeah it will." she studied the list. "Do you like spicy foods?"
"Spicy? Yup, among many other things, why? What in Haltona do you have in mind?"
Kari smiled. "Some old Earth food called Tex-Mex." She wasn't sure what that was, but she was up for new experiences.
"Well, what theme do you have in mind? I had overheard some people in the turbolift on the way to the party, and they were talking about a Hawaiian style party? I don't really know much about it though," she admitted, remembering the coversation she had overheard.
Kari made a face. "Well, there goes Tex-Mex. Hawaiian, though..." Kari studied the list. "We can work with that. It's a very fruity type..deal...I think. Let's see here, what do you find at a luau?" she asked herself calling up a database.
"It is just a suggestion, I am new to all of this. If you think Tex-Mex is best, then cool. That was more or less just my way of asking about what I overheard. Tell me more about the food with both of these ideas, let's research them out, and find the one that works the best. Okay?"
"Well, Hawaiian is very different then Tex-Mex. But that can work. If anyone askes, we can always play we're the dumb ensigns." she grinned.
"Hey, I don't play dumb very well, but you can if you want to. Seriously though, we can look to see what will work best. I am seeing some things that I don't have any clue about. What is a pineapple?" She said teasing the chief again. Rez noticed that the other woman didn't seem to mind being teased by her.

Pride: Looked back at Illito and decided he like her. She didn't sugar coat things she told how she saw it. " You Know Illito now I know why the Commander wants you on the bridge, I hope you are wrong and you will get to spend some time on the bridge I think your opions could be a big help." Pride started to think about her comment about the stars.
"Illito I think I now have a idea what my parents ment. The stars have been around longer then any of us or anybody else how many things have happened since they came to be and how many times have things repeated them selves. I mean how many people have done the samthing that somebody else has done. There always somebody out there making a discover that was made last year or a hundred years agao. Maybe if we took the time to learn from history we would avoid some mistake's that were made by somebody else."
" Also I like how you talk I have a hard time sometimes trying to figure out what humans are saying. On my home world we say what we mean and get to the point. I dont understand why people dance around the issue It is one of my humane aspects I hope I never develope I dont like it so thank you for being direct I like it and it makes me feel at home I hope we can be friends if that is okay with you" <Tag Illito>

Shortly after Commander Drago gave his little speech, Paikea was once again alone with Katie. It was a thing that they would always happen to them. They could be in a room filled with people, but they always ended up alone. Paikea of course didn't really complain, he loved spending time with Katie.
"So are you serious when you talked about Risa?" Paikea asked Kaite. Paikea of course had not told her, but he had already set up the R&R orders. All they needed was the signature of the Commander and it was official. Of course he would wait after the end of this mission.
<Tag Katie>
The talking once again died down when an assortment of food was brought into the holodeck. It was magnifiscent and almost made Pai drool. Katie of course noticed this, but said nothing.
"What its good food," Paikea said as he took her hand and moved into the front of the line.

------------------------
Paikea was almost positive that he gained a couple of pounds that night. Well techniqually it wasn't, the night since the dinner was still not over. Though everyone had long ago stopped eating.
This fact only promoted Commander Drago to approach the podium once again. Everyone hushed and waited for the Commander to give them some details about there mission and shoo them away to there quarters.

OOC: Sorry that I have not been posting, its totally my fault. Also lets get this mission moving.

"Welcome aboard the ship, Captain. I'm Nico Todaro, medical staff, and I look forward to serving under your command." The Officer said.
Luke smiled. "It is a pleasure to meet your Mr. Todaro." He paused. "Oh, and it isn't necessary to call me Captain, I'm still a Commander." Luke stretched out his arm, offering his hand. "I'm sorry but you will have to excuse me, I have to wind this evening up."
<TAG Nico>
Luke slowly walked up to the podium and tapped the microphone.
"Thank you all so very much for coming out tonight. I hope you all have had an enjoyable evening and had one last chance to relax before we leave drydock." He paused and smiled around at the attentive looking faces. "Tomorrow morning the Scavenger will go through last minute checks and then leave the Assailant. I expect everyone to be at their stations at 0900. The Scavenger will leave drydock at 0930. Thank you for all for a fantastic evening. I look forward to serving with you."

Illito smiled at Pride. “Yeah, sure, I'd like to be friends,” Illito said, deciding that she would like that.
Illito listened to the speech. “Well, I guess we know when we'll be leaving now,” Illito said to Pride. “Just not where.”
" I can't wait to get back out there and see whats beyound the next star," Pride remarked.
“Yeah,” Illito agreed. There was something beautiful about interstellar travel that made her feel like every time they went to warp was an adventure. “Sometimes I wish more of the galaxy would be unknown,” Illito added, then realized that Pride not quite understand her. But it seemed like so much of star-travel was going someplace identical, or, at the least, similar, to somewhere she had been before. Sure, there were still things to be discovered, but as Pride had pointed out earlier, people often ended up repeating other's findings. At some point it must have all been new though, right?

Nico noticed that while the Captain, no, Commander, noticed and greeted him, Drago ignored Lianna. “I guess you'll have to be more aggressive about introducing yourself next time,” Nico told her with a smile, hoping she wouldn't feel insulted at not being noticed. Nico figured the Commander was quite busy, but he knew that Lianna had wanted to talk to Commander Drago. “And, as he said, he had to give his speech.”

Lianna stood quietly while the CO spoke with Nico. She was used to being ignored but it still bothered her a little, although she didn't say anything to Nico. "It’s ok Nico, I am used to it.”
She did, however, excuse herself and leave the gathering, using the excuse that her implants were giving her a headache and she wanted to lay down. Lianna and Phantom left the holodeck and headed back to her quarters. But it was not to lay down, it was instead to spend the rest of the evening alone.

"So are you serious when you talked about Risa?" Paikea asked Kaite.
"Wouldn't you like to know." Katie replied with a smile.
Katie liked to tease Paikea every chance she got. She knew this would be on his mind for a long time and she wanted to make sure that he was going to be on his toes the entire time.
What she didn't want to tell him was that she had arranged the time off already. All she needed to do was get the new Captain to OK the trip. Katie was happy that the food was starting to be served. Before she could say anything she was rushed right to the front of the line by Paikea.
"What its good food," Paikea said as he took her hand and moved into the front of the line.
"I know but take your time young man." She teased.
