John sighed. "I suppoe we should get to Karr's quarters. It's going to be a long day, with all these people we're going to be checking in Sickbay."
"It'll go faster if I start that right now," pointed out Dr. Kwani. "I'll set up the equipment, and you can check on Karr."
"Okay," said John as they entered Sickbay. He tried to contact Karr from the comm link in Sickbay. "Mr. Karr, please come to Sickbay." There was no response. John repeated his request, but the silence remained. "I'll go check on him," said the nurse.
"All right," said Dr. Kwani, contacting security about a lie detector, and going down a PADD, selecting random people to come down immediately.
John exited the room, and hurried to Karr's quarters, wishing he'd brought a security team with him. He'd never been much for personal combat.
He found the quarters to be locked. "Medical override," he said, entering quickly. It didn't take him long to find Karr. The man appeared to be dead, lying on the floor near an open closet. The only odd thing about it was the fact tht his eyes were closed. He might have been sleeping, except for the fact that he had no pulse.
Suddenly, the doors closed being the nurse. John spun around, but no one was there. Then the lights went off, and John could hear the air being sucked out of the room by the ventilation system. Now he was stuck in a dark room with a dead man, and all the air was being sucked out. John began to pound on the door, calling for help.
*********************************************
In Sickbay, Dr. Kwani had already cleared three people , telling them they had nothing to worry about as far as the flu went. The lie detector was almost set up, and she'd need nurse Mann to help her finish that. She wondered where he could be. She went over to the comm link. "Nurse Mann, you presence is required in Sickbay."
There was no response. Dr. Kwani turned to the security team next to her. "Please go to Karr's quarters and find out what's going on."
"Yes, doctor." They left. Dr. Kwani shook her head hoping that nothing had happened, and moved on to her fourth patient.
*********************************************
It was getting hard to breath. John was on the verge of losing conciousness, and slumped to the ground next to the door. He continued to hit the door occasionally, but he felt it was a futile attempt.
The security guards reached Karr's quarters, and tried to get it. They tried to override the door, but it didn't budge. As they began to open it manually, the security officer in the back crumpled to the floor. Two more fell before the couple opening the door realised they were dropping, and by then, their attacker was upon them. Neither got a very good glimpse of him before they fell to the ground.
Fortunately for John, the door had been opened a little bit. He gasped; the sudden intake of air hurt his lungs. He struggled to his feet, and opened the door the rest of the way. Then, stumbling over the fallen security guards, John made his way to the nearest comm link.
"Dr. Kwani... this is... nurse Mann," said John, still catching his breath. "Karr's dead.... bunch of security guards lying around..."
=^= Hold on, I'll be right there. =^= Kwani left Sickbay quickly, after ordering two more security teams down to Karr's quarters. She found John sitting on the ground with a phaser probably from one of the security guards. He wasn't holding it very well, and Dr. Kwani seriously doubted whether he would have been able to do anything with it. John relaxed noticably when he was Dr. Kwani and the security teams.
"Karr's in his quarters still," he said. "Something weird happened when I went in there. The doors locked behind me, and all the power in the room went out. Then the air started getting sucked out, and the door opened a little. But when I came out, all of these guys were lying on the ground..."
Dr. Kwani thought for a moment. "The attacker must has overestimated how quickly we'd get here, because he had ample time to silence you and close the door..."
"Maybe he was afraid of getting caught," offered a security guard.
"Or maybe he didn't notice the door," said John. "Either way, we should get these people awake and see if they saw anything."
Ten minutes later, the security members had been revived. They hadn't seen anyone, and most hadn't even known they'd been under attack when they went down. Dr. Kwani told Wills and KAT of what had transpired, and Wills ordered another meeting.
*********************************************
"Whoever's doing this must have a high security clearence," said Wills unhappily. "Either that, or he's incredibly good with computers. How'd he shut down Karr's quarters?"
"And how did he fake his death?" mused Dr. Kwani.
"Excuse me?" said John, surprised. "He'd dead, doctor. I saw him."
Dr. Kwani shook her head. "No. He's alive, but in an induced coma. I checked, just a minutes ago. Our criminal doesn't want him dead, for some reason."
KAT growled. "This gets worse every minutes. So far, we've only got four people we should be watching. But none of them have the clearence to do what the criminal's done. And I don't think any of them can take out a whole security team, trap someone in a torpedo tube, mess up our sensors, and stay hidden so well! How do we know they didn't plant that hair?"
Dr. Kwani's face grew pale. "That would mean they've got a good background in medicine, too. How many people have all those skills?"
"Genetic engineering?" supplied John. "Its impossible for a normal human - or any other species, really - to be good enough with computers to hack into our system, fool our medical department, and beat our security teams. There's just no reasonable explanation for it."
"We need to keep watching those four people," said Wills. "But I have another idea; why don'y we flood the ship with some sort of narcotic? We could put everyone to sleep."
"Look how fast he reacts," pointed out KAT. "He's able to trap nurse Mann in a room seconds after he enters. He must be monitoring us. And he can probably override whatever we try to do."
"Well, what do you propose?" asked Wills in an irritated voice. "If we can't do anything without beeing noticed, then he'd probably hearing this conversation right now! And if he's got so much power, why hasn't he taken over the ship?"
"Too many people," said John. "The only people he's tried to kill are the senior staff - the people with the skills to oppose him. Or those that get too close to whatever he'd working on. I don't think he wants to kill off the entire crew."
"Well, lucky us," said KAT sarcastically.
"Hold on," said Wills, thinking quickly. "I think I can explain everything. If he had transporter controls, he could erase all his history of transporting to various places. That would allow him to sabatouge the sensors - it doesn't take a genius to damage them, just lots of studying - and he could get to John quickly by bugging Karr's quarters and transporting the air out. He could have made it sound like the ventilation system by recording the system and then playing the sound while transporting mass amounts of air out of the room, along with the lights, door controls, etc. And he could transport himself in and out of the torpedo tube area. It really was his hair."
KAT reviewed everything. "That does explain everything," she admitted. "But not his motives."
"We'll get that out of him when we apprehend him," replied Wills. "Get Ensign Santos, RJ, Green, and the Captain back here. We'll catch Malcolm Burnwell - that's who I think is guilty - and the other three, turn off all transporters, and bring the away team up in a shuttle."

On New Bath
Curie looked round the large room where they had been asked to wait by the Governors staff, who had ensured them that the Governor would be along shortly. The room itself was very well furnished, with large paintings on the wall of various scenery from Earth, and a number of pictures of a fat middle aged human male, in rather grand clothing.
“Captain Curie! Welcome to New Bath!”
Curie turned round to see a fat middle aged human male, in rather grand clothing walking towards him. He realised it was the same man who was in the pictures, and apparently it was the Governor himself.
“Governor, a pleasure to meet you,” Curie said, shaking the extended hand, “may I present my crew?”
Curie introduced all the members of his team, but the Governor didn’t shake any of there hands, he just nodded rather uninterestingly at them.
“So what brings you to our humble planet Captain?” the Governor asked.
“I was under the impression you already knew Governor, we are transporting your successor here, and then transporting you back to Earth.”
Curie could have imagined it, but he was sure he saw a flicker of anger on the Governor’s face at the mention of his successor. “Yes, yes, I was informed, the famous Jason Karr no less!” the Governor replied, his voice slightly forced and cold.
“Is everything alright Governor?” Curie asked.
“Well now you mention it Captain, we have been experiencing some strange systems malfunctions, perhaps your officers would be so kind as to take a look at the systems in question for us?”
“Certainly Governor,” Curie said, returning the man’s smile, “Commander James and my officers would be happy to help in any way they can.”
“Excellent, excellent,” the Governor replied, “my assistant, Mr. Hobs here will show them the way.”
Curie nodded to RJ and the others, as Mr. Hobs led them down a corridor, then turned his attention back to the Governor.
“Perhaps you would be kind enough to join me for a drink Captain?” the Governor asked, already walking out of the room.
Knowing it was probably best not to refuse; Curie followed the man out of the room.
The Governors office was a fair walk away from the entrance hall where Curie and the rest of the landing party had been forced to wait, and when Curie entered, he found the office just as large and grand as that hall. Again the walls were decorated of pictures of the Governor. Just as Curie took the offered drink, his communicator beeped, taking the small device from his belt, Curie flipped it open.
“Curie here, go ahead.”
“Captain,” William Richards said through the device, “there has been another incident; we need you and the landing party to return to the ship.”
“What’s happened?” Curie asked.
“I prefer not to say over an open channel Captain,” Richards answered, “we cannot guarantee the transporter system is self, I have already dispatched a shuttle to pick you up.”
“Very well Mr. Richards, I’ll see you on the ship, Curie out.”
“Problems?” the Governor asked when Curie flipped the device back into his belt.
“Nothing we cannot handle Governor,” Curie answered, “however, our presence is requested back on the ship, I am afraid we must leave.”
“I am sorry to hear that, perhaps you may return once you solve the problems?”
“We will, we will,” Curie answered, “I’ll just contact my team, we have a shuttle on its way to pick us up.”
“Jolly good,” the Governor answered, “I shall make arrangements for you to be escorted out, I must ask however that your shuttle not land in the grounds, don’t want to damage the garden!”
“Of course,” Curie replied, has he closed the channel to RJ, telling him and the others to meet him by the shuttle.
“Excellent, please walk with me Captain.”
And with that the Governor walked out of the office, clearly intending for Curie to follow him, taking a long slip of his drink, Curie followed the Governor out down the corridor.

Mira, RJ and Ensign Santos followed Hobs to the maintenance area, to observe whether they could assist in the repairs. Santos circled around what resembled a power plant, and used his tricorder to record the language that was displayed on the various consoles.
RJ stood talking quietly to Hobs as Mira too gazed around at the various consoles. Suddenly, RJ's communicator beeped and she heard Curie call him to have them meet at the shuttle that was going to meet them.
"Which way?" Mira asked, already feeling lost in the maze of corridors through which they'd been led. She was still shaking from the ordeal she'd endured earlier in the torpedo room, but now that she was gazing at all the marvels around her, she was quickly starting to feel better.
While Hobs led them outside, the young chief occasionally stopped to take readings and record images displayed on the great walls in the corridors. "They're beautiful!" she beamed, looking around in awe.
"Yes yes," Hobs grunted impatiently, as he led the small party outside. Just outside the gardes the shuttlecraft, Guinevere, was waiting for them. "Oh no!" Hobs groaned, "they've squashed the flowers! My priceless Begonia's!"
The three officers turned, and Mira gawked at the man. Just as Santos boarded the shuttle Curie approached them, not looking very happy. "Well into he shuttle," Curie ordered, waving them off.
"No you're not," Hobs suddenly snapped, aiming an old fashioned 20th century revolver at them. Impatiently, he waved the three away from the shuttle. "Throw your weapons onto the ground, your other equipment too. Hurry. And no tricks, I know how to use this!"
"Take off!" Currie shouted, diving for the hatch. A single shot fell, and Curie fell down motionless.
Mira raced forward to Curie's side, as the shuttle took off without them. Her face flushed with anger as she inspected the shot wound. "He's alive," she reported to RJ, "but he'll need to be treated in sickbay." She ripped a piece of Curie's shirt and pressed it down onto the injury. "It's a flesh wound," she added.
"Step away from him," Hobs ordered, picking up a phaser that was dropped with his free hand, while still keeping aim on the two others.
"If I do, he'll bleed to death," Mira said stubbornly, missing the single shake of the head from RJ. She fell back, grimacing and gripping her shoulder as another shot fell. She gazed at her hand, which came away red, but didn't move away from Curie's side.
Hobs threw a single communicator at RJ, holding aim on him with the phaser. "I shoot righthanded as well as lefthanded," he said simply, but threateningly, "don't do anything stupid. Call your ship and tell them I've got you hostage. Our current director will contact them soon with his demands."
When RJ refused, he threw anoter communicator at Mira, who at that point was having her hands full. "You do it."
Mira nodded, and turned the dial on the communicator, after flipping it open with one hand. "Lieutenant Richards, this is Chief Green. We've been captured sir, and Captain Curie is injured." Her voice shook as she reported in. "He's been shot sir, and I've been too. Please advise?"

On the bridge of the Excalibur William Richards was seated in the command chair, a security team had already appended Malcolm Burnwell, and sickbay were already running tests to confirm he was the saboteur, pretty soon they would be performing a lie detector test on him too.
The bridge itself was manned largely by Beta shift crewmembers, with Richards and KAT being the only Alpha shift bridge members left. A shuttle had been dispatched to pick up the landing party, and pretty soon, Wills was certain everything would be sorted out.
He was soon proved wrong.
The first signs of trouble came when KAT made a startling announcement, “I have lost the sensor lock on the landing party, and some kind of force field has been erected around Government House.”
“Excalibur to Captain Curie,” Wills said, flipping the comm switch, “Captain Curie, please respond.”
There was so response.
“Hail the planet and find out what is going,” Wills ordered.
“No one is answering hails,” Barbara Gold, who was covering communications, answered.
“Crewman Whistle,” Wills said, addressing his old friend who was at the Engineering console, “anyway we can punch through that force field to get a sensor reading of them?”
“Negative,” Charlie Whistle answered, “I’ll keep trying though.”
Wills didn’t like this one bit, it was never a good thing to lose contact with a landing party, especially when the Captain was assigned to it. And besides that, why would an unimportant Federation Government building have such security systems?
“Sir!” KAT called out excitedly, “I have the shuttle on sensors.”
“Thank god for that,” Wills said, letting out a sigh of relief, “clear them for docking.”
Wills couldn’t believe how relieved he felt, for a few moments he had thought he had a real crisis on his hands, but now everything would be fine, the Captain was coming back.
“Sir, the shuttle reports Captain Curie, Commander James, and Chief Green are not aboard,” Crewman Gold reported.
There was a deadly silence on the bridge, as all eyes turned to Wills in the centre seat. Wills himself had gone rather white in the face, and it was a few seconds before he could reply. “Do we know where they are?” he asked, trying to remember all his training, but also fighting to keep the emotion away from his voice. It was suddenly dawning on him just how much of a dangerous situation they were in, one he was going to have to try and resolve. He needed to remain strong, and more importantly, calm.
“Reports suggest they are still planet side,” Gold replied.
“Have the shuttle dock, and then tell Ensign Santos to get up here ASAP, we need to know every detail he can remember.”
“Aye sir,” Gold answered, “Sir, we have an incoming message from the planet, its Chief Green!”
“We've been captured sir, and Captain Curie is injured." Green’s voice shook as she reported in. "He's been shot sir, and I've been too. Please advise?"
For the second time in as many minutes there was a silence on the bridge, and all eyes again turned to Wills, who this time wasted no time in replying.
“Chief, who has captured you?”
He heard Mira Green scream as someone clearly removed the communicator from her.
“You will wait in orbit for our demands,” a deep male voice said over the channel, “if you do not comply we will kill you crew.”
“Who is this?” Wills demanded, “This is a violation of Federation law, release our crew at once, or face the consequences.”
There was no reply, the channel was dead.
“Get a medical and security team down to the shuttle bay to meet Ensign Santos,” Wills ordered, “I want the security logs checked, and once Ensign Santos has the all clear from sickbay, I want him up here.”
“Aye sir,” Crewman Gold answered, as she went over the ship’s intercom.
“And after that, get me Starfleet Command on a priority channel,” Wills continued to order, “and monitor the planet for any indication of where our people are now.”
There were a series of “aye aye sir” as everyone on the bridge got to work. With no buttons to press, all Wills could do from the centre seat was watch everyone else work, and wonder just how the heck he was going to rescue the Captain and the others.

*After the second shot RJ raised his hands to the top of his head*
Hobs: That is the spirit raise your hands and stay still.....
* At that point several things happened in at once; 1.RJ pulled his meklth from his back and threw it at Hobs chest. 2.Hobs pulled the trigger of the gun and phaser at the same time. 3. RJ launched himself at Hobs grabbing both weapons as he rammed his knee into Hobs' mid section and collapsing on top of Hobs due to the impact of a bullet to the chest and a phaser shot on stun to the leg. Rolling over RJ now holding the weapons; opened fire with the phaser as two of the Governors security people exited the building. Taking stock of the sceen...*
RJ: That could have gone better, I'd forgotten how much it hurts to get shot with one of these things. *Picking up the communicator * {James to Excalibur beaming us up now would be good, we have 3 wounded, one critical and our tactical situation does not look good.}

Mira was still kneeling beside the captain, using her good right hand to staunch the bleeding in her left shoulder, while using her left hand to press down on the injury near Curie's heart. "Sir, he's gravely injured," she whispered bleakly, "if we don't get him to sickbay he'll die."
She frowned when she heard RJ call for emergency transporting. "Transporters are down sir," she said weakly, "if they had been on, they'd not sent a shuttle for us in the first place, and this'd never have happened."
Then she saw the commander was injured also. "Sir, are you all right?" she asked, shifting her position as her legs were feeling as if someone was sticking millions of needles in them. "My feet are asleep," she complained softly, "and I can't hold this much longer, my arm's hurting and starting to cramp up, and my uniform's soaked."

John glanced at Wills. The nurse had brought Santos up to the bridge as soon as the shuttle had arrived. "Sir, perhaps we should take a shuttlecraft down their and shoot our way to their position. I'd gladly be the medical relief. All we need are some security members and a capable pilot."

“Get on it,” Wills ordered, nodding his head in agreement with Mann, “If Ensign Santos is able, he can pilot you down there, and I’ll have security meet you in the shuttle.”
“Understood,” Mann replied, racing to the turbo lift.
“Commander Roberts,” Wills said over what he hoped was still the open comm channel, “we are sending an assault shuttle, medical and security personnel will be with you shortly.”
There wasn’t a reply from anyone down on the planet, which un-nerved, Wills, but there wasn’t much else he could do at the moment. He would have to wait for the shuttle to reach the landing party.
“Sir, I am detecting another ship in the area,” the relief tactical officer reported, “they are orbiting the other side of the planet, masking our sensors until just now.”
“What kind of ship?” Wills asked.
“Unknown configurations,” the officer replied, “there shields and weapons are powered though.”
“Red Alert,” Wills ordered, “hail them.”
“No response,” Barbara Gold replied.
“We can’t do anything in orbit of the planet,” Wills said out loud, “and we can’t leave orbit until the shuttle returns, try to maintain a distance from the other ship, let me know at the first sign of them leaving orbit.”
“Aye aye sir.”
On the viewscreen, Wills watched the small shuttle speed towards the green planet below, he hoped they would be returning soon.

Mira was starting to get cold. Her arms were starting to cramp up from pressing down on Curie's shot-wound. She didn't blame James for wanting to remain on guard, and protect them from whoever else might decide to jump an attack on the three officers. ~well two officers~ Mira thought ~I am not an officer~
She shivered, and shifted position, using Curie's body to warm her own, but also to provide warmth to the injured commanding officer. "Don't die captain," she whispered, hugging the body closer, "I'm sure Lieutenant Richards will send help soon."
Mira was starting to feel light headed, and the entire left sleeve of her uniform had gone stiff with dried blood, and she knew she was still bleeding. She didn't quite like the sight of blood, and it was bad enough that her hands were soaked with Curie's blood. The sight made her feel nauseous, but she realised that she'd condemn the captain to death if she would let go.
Idly, she gazed up at the sky, and saw something silvery high up. "Commander, look!" she called, demanding his attention. She couldn't point up to the sky, but she could certainly try to catch his attention. "Commander, up there!"
She gagged, as she returned her gaze to the still unconscious commanding officer. His tunic, and the grass around him were covered with blood. "Come on captain," she whispered, "just a little longer. Look, help is coming now. It won't belong before Doctor Kwani can patch you up now." She continued to talk to him, not realizing she was babbling.

John ran towards the shuttle bay. When he got there, Santos and several guards were rushing into the shuttle. John got in last, and the shuttle took off.
"When we get down there," said John, "I'll need you to cover me. M- CPO Green, Commander James, and the Captain might need immediate medical assistance."
"You'll get it," said one of the guards.
"I'll also need you to help me bring them on board if they are seriously injured." John was facing the door expectantly. Several tense minutes passed, and Santos finally announced they had landed.
John and several security members jumped out. No enemies were in sight, and John raced towards the away team, the security guards right behind him. Commander James lowered his weapon, looking extremely tired. It was obvious the Captain was in the most critical condition of the three. Mira had her hands on him to stop the bleeding, but the Captain would go any moment. John noticed not all of the blood on Mira's uniform was her own.
"Get Commander James into the shuttle," instructed John. "I'll treat him later." He bent down beside the Captain. He'd been shot either close to or in the heart, and John didn't know if he would be able to keep his Captain alive until they got to the Excalibur and the medical facilities there. John closed up the tear in the skin - the bullet was lodged somewhere inside Curie's chest - and then had the remaining security guards pick up the Captain, making sure they held him even, not letting his head drop.
Mira had been shot in the shoulder, and John would need to take a closer look at it later. But for the time he just dulled the pain and closed up the wound with what instruments he had. Helping her up, John escorted her to the shuttle.
"You all right?" asked John. Mira looked very tired, and was leaning heavily on John. She was probably weak from loss of blood, and from the rush of adrenaline. Mumbling something John didn't quite catch, Mira gave a small smile.
Once back on board the shuttle, John checked on RJ. He had been shot in the chest, but only slightly - the bullet had passed between his ribs, and wasn't still in him. RJ had lost a lot of blood, but seemed more alert than Mira. John patched him up as best he could, then moved to the Captain and monitored his status. He opened the skin a little bit, to allow the blood that was bleeding internally to flow out, at a much slower rate that it had been.
The shuttle was on its way to the Excalibur, and John couldn't wait to see Sickbay's medical facilities and Dr. Kwani's experience at patching up people like the Captain. She'd have her work cut out for her, that much was certain...

Mira was very glad to be able to let go of Curie, though part of her didn't want to let go. She slumped in the seat Mann eased her into, and sagged against the nearest guard that sat next to her. Her own shoulder started aching now, despite whatever Mann had injected her with. "How is he?" she asked drowsily, leaning forward to take a look at Curie, "he'll make it won't he?"
The guard next to her, WO Harvey Madison, quickly grabbed her and prevented her from falling forward. The 30-year old guard eased her back in her seat, and pressed down on the bandage gently. "Easy now honey, you've lost quite a bit of blood."
Mira shrugged him off, glaring at him through feverish eyes. "I gotta know," she murmured, and gazed at RJ, who looked equally worried, "please, tell me he's gonna make it?"
"Come on honey," Madison said softly, forcing her to look away from the chief nurse who was working hard to save the captain's life, "you should rest." Gently, he eased her against his broad shoulder, rubbing the girl's back as he felt her body shake as she sobbed.
"There now," he whispered, "he'll be fine. Don't worry honey, we'll be home soon." He looked up at Santos. "How long sir?"
"Just a few minutes," Ensign Santos replied, "and sickbay's ready. Lieutenant Richards will be waiting for us."
Several minutes later, the shuttle landed in the shuttle bay, and Madison picked up the now restlessly sleeping girl. He gazed at RJ. "Do you need assistance sir?" he enquired, motioning for two guards to move in as soon as the Helmsman would need it. "Accepting assitance is not a sign of weakness sir," he whispered, quite aware of the man's fascination with Klingons.
After delivering the injured to sickbay, Santos and Madision waited for Richards to arrive, so that they could deliver their reports.

On the bridge, Richards watched the viewscreen as the shuttle returned from the planet; in the far distance he could still see the other starship. So far they had made no attempt to stop the shuttle returning to the Excalibur. Still Richards would feel happier once the shuttle was safely docked.
“That other ship is scanning the shuttle,” Gold called out, “but they are still holding position.”
“Let’s hope it stays that way,” Richards replied, “as soon as the shuttle is back aboard, take us out of orbit, I want space to move.”
“Aye sir,” the helmsmen replied.
In his head, Richards counted down the seconds remaining until the shuttle was back aboard. He had no idea what the other ship might do if the Excalibur attempted to leave orbit, they had still refused to answer the Excalibur’s hails.
“The shuttle is docked,” Gold called out, “medical teams have taken the Captain and Commander James to sickbay, the Captain’s condition is reported as critical.”
“Thank you Ensign, have Chief Green report to the bridge, we need to know what happened down there.”
“Aye sir,” Gold replied.
Richards watched the viewscreen, as the planet started to grow smaller, the helmsmen had followed his orders and taken the Excalibur out of orbit. Now if the other ship did attack, they would have room to manoeuvre.
“What are they doing? Richards asked, referring to the other ship.
“They are matching our position,” the helmsman reported, “weapons are still hot, but no signs of them targeting us.”
It was then that the turbolift opened, and Chief Green entered the bridge. She looked terrible, her uniform was covered in blood, and she looked even whiter than she did before. She also seemed to be shaking.
“Welcome back Chief,” Richards said, getting out of his chair to greet her, “how are you?”
“I have been better sir,” Green answered, her voice a little shaky.
“What happened down there?” Richards asked.
“When we got to the shuttle, they stopped us,” Green replied, “they had guns, I don’t know why they did it, why couldn’t you beam us back?” There was an accusation in her voice that it was Richards fault.
“We found out who the saboteur was, one of the transporter ops, we had to shut down transporters to make sure he hadn’t done anything to them.”
“Why?” was all Green could say, clearly she was still in shock.
“I don’t know,” Richards replied, “but it all has to be related, as soon as we arrested the saboteur, you were held captive, and then another ship appears in the area.”
“Sir!” the helmsman replied, “I am detecting transports on the surface, a group has just beamed aboard that ship.”
Suddenly the entire bridge shook violently on the viewscreen, Richards saw why, multiple torpedoes were hitting the Excalibur.
“Report,” he bellowed, taking the centre chair.
“The other ship let off a full spread of torpedoes, then warped out of the area.”
“Track them, then pursue at maximum speed,” Richards ordered, “Chief Green, take your station.”
“Aye sir,” Green answered, moving to the front station.
“I have them on sensors,” Gold reported, “sending location to navigation.”
“Plot course and engage,” Richards ordered.
<tag everyone, medical treatment for Curie and RJ. Bridge crew, tracking down the other ship, Who are they? What do they want? Why are they doing this?>

Once the Excalibur stopped shaking, Ephrem got back on his station. He was glad that no one saw that he fell out of his chair but that didn't really matter.
Ephrem quickly went on to study the dimension's, weaponry, and the reason's for their attack. Ephrem just didn't understand why they would be attacking the Excalibur. Ephrem then thought of the saboteur. Once they had apprehended him, the ships came into being and our major problems started.
"Lt. I want to know who and what they were," Captain Cuire ordered.
"Working on it sir," Ephrem could only say as he continued to work on his readings. The ship had been on pursuit of the attacking ship for about three hours, when the ship just came out of warp.
"What just happened?" Ephrem asked.
"I don't know, the ship just went out of warp," the navigations officer said.
"How is that possible?" Ephrem asked.
"I'm guessing that the saboteur did something to the warp core," Ensign Gold suggested. At that Ephrem's console came to life. They were reporting that something was coming, and it turned out that it was the same ship that they had been following.
"The ship is heading towards us," Ephrem said.
Off: Hopefully i let enough time to do some stuff while we were chasing the ship.

Dr. Kwani stood over the Captain, two nurses standing across from her and another standing just behind her. The Captain was pulling through, but it would be days before he got out of Sickbay, and about two weeks before he would be able to get back to duty.
Kevin was watching RJ and Mira. Neither should be back on duty until at least the next day. John made sure Mira's shoulder was completely healed, and that all other scrapes and bruises she'd gotten were healed. After patting her on the shoulder, he walked over to RJ. He had proped himself up, and was waiting impatiently to be released from Sickbay. John forced him back down and finished patching him up. RJ would probably insist on getting back to the Bridge, but John wasn't going to let him go anywhere without Dr. Kwani's permission.
Dr. Kwani told John that the Captain would be fine, and that there wasn't much more anyone could do at the time. The bleeding had stopped, and Dr. Kwani had pumped some more back into him, but Curie wasn't going to be up and walking for at least a couple days. He was just too weak.
Leaving a couple nurses to watch the Captain's situation, Dr. Kwani came over to the two beds where RJ and Mira were. RJ was glaring.
"You won't even let me go to my quarters, but she gets to go back to the Bridge?!" RJ looked like he was ready to blow a fuse. John wasn't too happy either. "What are you- where's Mira?"
"Got called to the Bridge, and no one seemed to want your opinion," growled RJ.
Dr. Kwani sighed. "All right, you're clear to go back to the Bridge, but you've got to come down here immediately after your shift is over and then go to your quarters. Got it?" RJ nodded happily. "John, could you go get Green back from the Bridge? I think I'll go take a nap after I clear her, because we could both be up all night watching the Captain, along with the rest of the medical staff. Just to be sure his body accepts the blood, and that he doesn't have some sort of fit, or go into a coma. I've given him a sedative, and I want to keep him like he is for at least another day."
"Of course, Doctor," said John. RJ had left some time ago, and John hurried after him.
Once off the Bridge, John saw Wills and couldn't blame him for bypassing Sickbay protocool. He looked very tired, concerned... John wondered how he'd been able to command the ship so well. Wills hadn't even noticed the nurse yet. John gave a little cough.
"Oh, hi John," said Wills. "How's the Captain?"
"He'll live," said John. "At least, he should. But he won't be back to the Bridge for about two weeks."
"Oh. Okay." Wills looked both happy and troubled at the same time. Probably happy that the Captain would live, but dreading the fact that he would need to keep commanding the Excalibur for the rest of the mission.
"Um... Wills, you sort of... didn't go through the proper proceedure..."
"What?" Wills frowned.
"Well... Mira - that is, CPO Green - hasn't been cleared from Sickbay yet."
Wills thought for a moment. "Ah. My apologies. Green, if you wouldn't mind going back to Sickbay..."
(Mira)
"Tell Dr. Kwani I'm sorry," said Wills. "There's plenty of people to spare. I just wasn't paying attention."
"A mistake anyone could have made," said John. Privately, though, both he and Wills knew it was because Wills wasn't used to command. John wasn't either, but Wills was the one in the spotlight right now, and he'd need to learn a lot, and quickly. John took some small comfort in his opinion that if anyone could step up to the plate and take command of the Excailbur, and complete their mission, it was Wills.
Back in Sickbay, Dr. Kwani checked Mira over quickly. "Almost perfect condition," she stated, "no cuts or scrapes..." not normal for someone who's just been on a mission that almost took her life. She doesn't even have fingermarks from where that man threw her to the ground, or small scratches from falling down, all the blood's been taken off her face, hair, and hands with a hydrobrush.... she looked at John, who blushed slightly at the silent accusation. "Besides the fact that you're a little low on blood - not enough for a transfusion, though, you just need some time off - and you're exhausted. You've had too much adrenaline in too short a time, and its taking its toll on you. You're very deprived of energy. Go get something to eat, and then take a nap." Dr. Kwani turned to John. "And I could suggest the same thing for you, but first you should make sure that at least two medical personnel are always in Sickbay, and that one is watching the Captain with his or her undivided attention. Give that announcement to everyone."
"Yes, Doctor," said John.
"Well, that's all settled. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get some sleep before I need to watch the Captain. You should get some, too, John." Dr. Kwani exited Sickbay, bound for her quarters.

With the support of the guard, Mira climbed onto the biobed, but wouldn't accept any tranquillizers. All she wanted to do was sleep for now, but on her own accord. She moaned softly as only she was called to the bridge, and slid off the bed, finding her way to the bridge on shaking legs. She dutifully recounted to Richards what had happened, and questioned him about the saboteur.
She took her station reluctantly, wanting nothing more than to get back to sickbay and stay with Curie, to make sure he'd be all right. She found her hands were shaking and she couldn't get herself to even push the nearest button. She just didn't have the strength.
Not much later, the chief nurse entered the bridge, with a look on his face that rested somewhere between pleased and utterly annoyed. Mira was pleased to hear that she hadn't been cleared for duty yet, and happily went back to sickbay with Mann. However, to her chagrin it was not Mann, but Kwani who came over to the bio bed to check her over.
"You need rest, and something to eat," Kwani concluded, then continued to say the same to Mann.
"Perhaps we could go for a quick bite," Mira suggested with a small voice, blushing heavily. Her cheeks coloured bright red in comparison to her pale complexion. "But after that I'm returning here," she said defiantly, "I'm not going to leave the captain's side!"

Dr. Kwani shook her head as she left. Mira was almost as bad as RJ at not leaving her station when ordered. Hopefully, John would be able to get her to go rest.
John wasn't paying too much attention to Mira's last comment, though. At the moment, he was wondering whether he should ask Mira if she wanted to go get cleaned up before they went for a quick bite or not (there was a fair amount of blood on her uniform, and his own). He was also wondering if Mira liked him - he was sure she didn't dislike him, but.... This train of thought ran through John's mind at warp speed as he thought of a proper response to Mira's invitation.
"Erm- sure, that sounds great," he said, smiling. Idiot, he thought to himself. What kind of a response was that?

"Uhm....you wouldn't mind going past my quarters first would you," Mira asked uncertainly, her blush deepening, "I can't go like this...my uniform is all dirty and torn, I most definately need a clean one."
She then giggled and pointed at his tunic. "Looks like you could use a clean one too." The two first walked to Mira's quarters, where she ducked into her bathroom, leaving Mann in the main area to wait for her. A scant five minutes later she re-appeared, wearing a clean uniform and her red hair brushed neatly. "Let's go," she said, as she stiffled a yawn. On shaking legs, she walked towards him.
After going past Mann's quarters, they finally got to the mess hall and got themselves some lunch. They sat down opposite of one another, and quietly ate their sandwiches. "Tell me a little about yourself," Mira suddenly asked, meeting his surprised gaze, causing her to blush again.

*After changing into a new uniform RJ headed to the bridge. As the turbo lift doors opened onto the bridge, the ship was hit by several torpedo's, causing it to lurch and expel RJ out of the turbo lift across the hand rail and onto the bridge floor flat on his back side.
Richards: Glad you could join us.
RJ: Thank you, thought you could use the help.
*RJ got up and took his post at the helm.*

"Tell me a little about yourself," Mira suddenly asked, meeting his surprised gaze, causing her to blush again.
"Um... well, I'm nineteen years old.... I got through the Academy fairly quickly. I didn't take the command courses required for becoming a Captain or such, because I didn't think I'd do well at that. And I like medical, so I don't think I'd want to change even if I got the chance. "I was born in London - that's where my parents live now - but lived in San Francisco most of my life, so I never picked up the British accent. I played the alto sax in the Academy jazz band, and I started playing that when I was about eleven."
John looked down at his half-eaten sandwich and then back at Mira. "What about yourself?"

"Im going to be seventeen in December," she said, then almost choked on her sandwich. Nobody knew she had yet to turn seventeen, but she figured that now the damage was done. "I have a twin brother at the academy. I was born on Mars and I've been raised there, learning all kinds of martial arts from a very young age. It's really the only thing I'm good at, and I've been teaching children since I was about thirteen."
She paused, sipping her chocolate milk. "Serving on a starship is everything to me," she said softly, "please don't tell anyone yet that Im not yet seventeen. This is all I have. I don't want to go to the academy, I just want to be out in space, and do my job."

John nodded. "I won't tell anyone," he promised. "But Dr. Kwani has guessed your age. She wasn't really concerned about it, but I think she means to find out, sooner or later. Between what's going on right now, and several new or old crewmembers that need new physicals, though, I think she'll be busy enough not to notice." He paused. "Do you think... well, would you like to teach me some of that martial art stuff you've mastered? I'm sort of pathetic when it comes to those things."

OCC: OK, things seem to have gone a little out of order, we started a space battle, and we seemed to have skipped straight to the end. I’ll try and base my post around the ones that have been made. I’ll start from the point of Wills and Green both being on the bridge, and having RJ coming up to join us. Then I’ll work into the posts made by John and Mira.
ON:
“Report,” Wills called from the centre chair, as the ship shook violently from multiple torpedo hits.
“Shield strength at 60%,” Mira called out, “we can’t take much more of those torpedoes.”
The deck again shook as more torpedoes hit the ship, causing Wills to have to cling onto the arm rests for support. Behind him he heard the turbo lift open, a quick glace told him it was RJ back on the bridge.
“Glad to see you again Commander,” Wills called out over the red alert alarms, “if you would be so good as to take evasive action.”
Wills watched as RJ took the helm and entered commands faster than Wills had ever seen, seconds later, the Excalibur was easily avoiding the torpedoes. Now all they had to do was stop the other ship from firing the damn things.
“Captain,” Mira called out, “I think I have detected a weakness in there rear side shields, they are putting all there power into the forward screens, if we can get behind them our weapons will cut through.”
“RJ?” Wills asked.
“I see it Captain,” the helmsman replied, “I think I can get us behind, but we might take some heavy fire.”
“Understood, do it,” Wills ordered.
The ship shook even more violently then before, as torpedo after torpedo impacted on the shields.
“Shields down to 30%!” Mira called out, panic in her voice.
“Stand by to fire all weapons on my command,” Wills said, “we may only get one shot, we need to hit them with everything we have.”
“We are in position,” RJ called out, “all weapons are ready.”
“Fire!” Wills ordered.
On the viewscreen Wills watched with grim satisfaction as phasers and torpedoes cut through the shields of the enemy vessel. There were bright multiple explosions throughout the ship, the largest one being the starboard nacelle of the ship exploding. Finally the ship came to a halt, dead in space.
“Cease fire,” Wills ordered, “hail them again, let’s see if they will talk.”
“Still no reply,” Santos answered.
“Very well, Commander James, prepare a boarding party, find out who is on that ship and what they want, Ensign Santo’s will join you.”
“Aye sir,” RJ replied, as he and Santos both left the bridge together.
Just after RJ had left, Nurse Mann walked out onto the bridge, Wills looked up and tried to smile at him, but in truth he was too tired. It had been a stressful few hours. He listened as John told him that Mira hadn’t actually been cleared from sickbay yet, recognising his mistake, Wills arranged for someone to come relieve the Chief.
When the two were gone, Wills opened a channel to the landing party.
“Commander, what have you found out?”

*As the landing party materialized they immediately came under heavy but inaccurate fire.*
RJ: Take cover and knock out those weapon emitters.
* RJ's communicator began to beep; opening it RJ heard;*
Wills: Commander, what have you found out?”
RJ: Sir we have beamed into their engine room and were meet with an automated defense. I now see how they could have fired so many torpedo's; everything here seems to be automated. There may be personnel on the ship in hiding or it could be controlled from another ship or near by planet? Recommend having another security team and an engineering team beam over. I will proceed to the bridge as soon as I figure out where it is and how to get out of the engine room. So far we have only identified access panels in the walls and the tricorders can not penetrate the shielding of the walls.

Mira beamed at John Mann. "But of course! I'd be happy to teach you," she exclaimed, "just let me know when and I'll see to it that the gym is free to spectators. Unless of course there's more people who want to be taught, but hey if you don't tell anyone I'm teaching, then I won't either!"
She grinned at him, then giggled as she watched him change colour a little. Then she stiffled a yawn. "I dunno what Kwani has given me, but I'm starting to feel really tired," she managed between yawns, "I'm so sorry. Would you....." She trailed off, wondering about a few things, including her own manners. "Thank you," she finally said.
~~
Ensign Santos prowled around the engine room of the alien vessel, phaser at ready. "sir, there's nobody here!" he called over his shoulder at James, "place seems to be deserted!"

Ephrem had never seen a ship like the one he was in. It was just filled with machines and consoles. Ephrem started walking around the engine room. He did not know the design of the ship, but he felt that he would soon get to.
The entire boarding party started to look around the room. They needed to find a way to find out who and what this ship was. It was getting disconcerting, but there was nothing else to do.
Then out of nowhere, a covering fell off a side panel. Ephrem quickly took his tricorder and started scanning. He couldn't understand the science of it just yet, but he could tell that it was heading towards the bridge. It would take a bit more time.
"Commander I have found an open panel and it seems that it is directly connected to the bridge," Ephrem reported.
"Thanks, Lt, but that won't matter until we find a way out of here," Commander James said. Ephrem had to agree, this room wasn't made for people.
"Sir, if we don't find a way out, we may need to torch our way out," Ephrem said hoping that they would find the door soon or just get the job done.
