Max continued to pilot the ever increasingly shakey Runabout, keeping his mind on the goal at hand was easier said than done. He had never found simulated turbulence a problem, nor had he found riding out the plasma storms on the Scavenger an issue, in fact he had quite enjoyed it. In all the times he had ever encountered a bumpy ride he had never felt quite so uneasy as this...
The Runabout responded to his every command with another jerky movement, the inertial dampeners useless and the impulse engines beginning to act up. Every round of enemy fire that managed to hit the hull caused yet another system to fail, he was beginning to panic.
"Commander Tintagel?" Hunter said from where he sat to the left of Max. "I am picking up a series of odd signals coming from one of the vessels in the Mirror Universe. It appears to be sensor information being transmitted to a lone craft which is in position just before the entrance to the void."
"Can you determine what the sensor information contains?" Illito asked moving from her chair to stand over Hunter's shoulder.
"I am just working on it now Commander. The continued conflict occurring around us is causing our sensors to malfunction." Hunter continued to work for a few more moments before he looked up triumphantly. "They're relaying false sensor information about the Scavenger and the position of the Fleet. As far as I can determine, and I could be way off, the information is stating that the Scavenger's Battle-ready Section is devoid of life and that the Mirror Universe Fleet is moving away from this position."
"Starfleet's on the other side." Max said, now concerned not only for the safety of the Scavenger crew but also those who had been sent to rescue them.
"That would prove to a sensible conclusion yes." Hunter replied.
"So they're trying to lure whatever vessel is in our Universe, over to this side to ambush them also?" Illito asked.
Max nodded, still concentrating on piloting the Runabout. "When the hell did these guys get so clever?!"
He received no answer to his question but he wasn't particularly expecting one. He just hoped that whatever vessel was on the other side would be able to see through the dummy information.
Again Max was forced to think about yet another situation when a light flashed just to the right of his navigational controls.
"Damn it." He muttered. "The escape pods are beginning to transmit their distress beacons before they reach the other side of the void." Max said, hitting the panel. "Idiots! They'll draw the attention of every vessel in the sector!"
"Let us hope that is not the case then Commander." Came Illito's voice from behind him who had once more taken her seat.
"Indeed..." He replied, staring at the viewport, where on the edges of his sight he could just about make out the escape pods edging closer to the hideous tear in space. God speed... He thought to himself.
Another volley of fire brought Max hurtling back to their present situation. They weren't going to make it to the Asteroid. Hunter was doing his best to fight back but they were in a Runabout for crying out loud. Another impact of enemy fire caused a conduit to overload at the back of the cockpit, a fire immediately burst into life.
"Damn it!" Max yelled. "That knocked out the last of the sensors. I'm officially flying with only my sight, we may as well just sit here!"
Illito had jumped out of her seat to put out the fire but yelled back to Max all the same.
"Continue at your post Commander, that's an order!"
Max hadn't been with the Scavenger crew all that long but he had never heard that tone in Tintagel's voice before. She had taken command.
"Aye Sir, this is going to get a whole lot more bumpy..." He said over the din of the groaning Runabout. They were so close to the Asteroid... So very close...
"We just lost our engines!" Hunter yelled.
"We're going in on momentum alone..." Max drifted away from the sentence. They really weren't going to make it.
"Time until impact?!" Tintagel asked.
"Thirty seconds on my mark... MARK!"
The remaining seconds seem to happen incredibly slowly for Max, it appeared that the Mirror Universe vessel who had been attacking them had given them up for dead and left them to their fate on the asteroid, with their inertial dampeners offline there was nothing to save them, sheilds down, life support failing. This was it. They entered the planets atmosphere at a collasal speed, he could feel the temperature in the shuttle begin to rise. And then within an instant the heat was gone and he was practically freezing and his surroundings were very different.
"Bower to Hunter, we have them."
=^= Very good Max, get them some warm clothes immediately. We need to find Luke and Paikea and then get them to the other side. Hunter out =^=
Max took a deep breath and swallowed hard. "Where the hell are we and what were you playing at transporting us out when we were going at that kind of speed?!"
"Would you have liked the other alternative?" Came the reply.
Max remained silent, partly in acceptance but also due to his stunning realisation of who was talking. The man approaching them was him... Max Bower...
"So you've never been to our side before then?" His double asked smiling.
Max wanted to sit down, perhaps sleep a little, he certainly didn't want to deal with himself...

"We are not going through the void," Tras snapped, "it would lower our chances of saving the Scavenger crew."
"Sir!" Aquila cried from science, "incoming projectiles through the void!" He swiveled his seat around and pointed at the main screen. "Escape pods! I'm reading about twenty of them, and there are enemy vessels in pursuit!"
"Beam the occupants aboard," Tras ordered, "helm, come about! Intercept those pods and put us between them and the pursuing vessels!"
Tras jumped to his feet. "Target the pursuing vessels as soon as they appear. Disable only, give them the chance to retreat."
He never heard the affirming sounds around him as he sped towards the turbolift. "Pride you have the bridge, I'll be in the transporter room to meet with the survivors. Let's pray Captain Drago is among them!" On the run, he tapped his combadge. "Sickbay! Doctor Loken, meet us in the transporter room! Activate the EMH and prepare for casualties!"
Seconds later, Tras ran into the transporter room, where the first survivors were being helped off the transporter pad. Loken was standing beside the transporter pad, quickly scanning those who came off it, directing them to the waiting nurses. Upon seeing Tras, he shook his head; Drago was not yet among those who were beamed aboard. "Dunsmore, Tarapik," the doctor introduced two of the Scavenger's senior staff, then pointed at a newly arrived senior officer. "Parsons," Loken finished.
Tras stepped forward, offering Parsons a brief salute. "Welcome aboard the USS South Carolina, Commander Parsons. Once the doctor has patched you up, I'll be expecting you and your senior staff in my readyroom for debriefing. Where is Captain Drago?"
As he waited for Parsons to respond, he informed the bridge that all survivors from the pods were now aboard. "Chase the enemy back into the void commander, and keep scanning for the Scavenger," he ordered Pride, "I'll be back on the bridge shortly. Meet me in my readyroom when I return. I'll be bringing guests."

It seemed like forever when Commander Tras left the bridge. Looking back at his read outs and using the ship shields to protect the life pods, He kept hoping Illito was among the the the pods waiting to beamed aboard.
Before chasing the purseing vessels back into the rift. Pride got a idea something that might pan out for them later depending on how well it sat with Commander tras. Scanning he found one of the pursing vessels and and disabled it. Its time to get some information locking on to it with a tractor beam and beaming the individaul to the brig. He Mananged to get the ship into the docking bay.
Turning to the Aquila get down to the docking bay and down load its computer corp and find out what were up against. Looking back over at the counselor why dont you take security and see how are guest is doing. Assure him he will be released as soon as possible but right now we need answers. The more information we have the better Commander Tras can form a plan. I'll take the heat for what I did but right now we need information and you never know what we might learn.
Looking back at the rift he wanted to go in, he could give the order it would be obeyed. He couldn't though the commander didn't say go in but didn't say stay out. Still it was his ship and the lives aboard were just as importan as the scavenger. Sometimes command really sucks he thought to himself.
Signaling Commander Tras " Sir I have manged to snag one of there vessels the crew member is in the brig with security. Aquila is down loading the computer corp from the ship I hope to have more information for you when you return to the bridge." puasing for a moment "Sir Commander Illito wasn't among the crew was she" <Tag Tras>

Shields were down, life support failing, but none of that mattered. The shuttle was, very shortly, going to slam into an asteroid. They said your life flashes before your eyes before you're about to die and surely, Illito thought, an eidetic memory should help with that. But she didn't seem able to focus, she kept thinking that there was something she would be able to do, somehow she could stop this. She really, really didn't want to die. She had so much to live for.
She thought of the Scavenger, and then she thought of Pride, and his smile, and the time they'd spent together. She realized she loved him, but she'd known that before. But thirty seconds only lasted so long. The next thing she knew she still wasn't dead, she was off the shuttle, and she was freezing. Much more so than usual. Cardassia was warm, this...transporter room, she eventually recognized it as, was not. She hated the cold, but it was better than being dead, she had to assume.
Max started talking to AU-Max, as Illito dubbed the alternate universe version, just so she could mentally distinguish them. Because this situation was bad enough without getting confused about who she was thinking about. She was given warmer clothing, which she quickly put on over her Starfleet clothing. “Thank you,” she said. Because not freezing was a plus.
“Your...Hunter, said something about getting us to the other side,” Illito said. “Does that mean you'll help us back to our universe? Why?” She felt that she should take over, because at the moment she was just grateful to still be alive, and that meant she was feeling a lot more in a mood for peaceful talking than she had been fifteen minutes ago. Max didn't look like he really wanted to be involved in this, and Illito was, gradually enough, coming the the realization that she had been unfair to him. So, if she could make up for it, even a little, by trying to help here, that was what she would do.

"Your...Hunter, said something about getting us to the other side." Illito said. "Does that mean you'll help us back to our universe? Why?"
Max sighed with relief, he was extremely thankful to Illito for dealing with this. He looked up from where he had sat down on the floor and saw himself looking at Illito... This was far too surreal. He wondered if you could ever adequately prepare yourself for running into an exact biological copy of you... But then again he supposed that these people weren't copies, this Max Bower was just as much Max as he was... His head was beginning to hurt...
"Yes, that is correct. You are far more valuable alive on your side than you are over here dead."
"Dead?" Max said, standing up now and walking over to join Illito and a puzzled looking Hunter.
"Yes, this Asteroid is under the command of someone that very much wants to meet you, and then I'm sure kill you, she's a little twisted like that." The other Max stopped talking and gave Illito a bizzare look, one that seemed to hide all number of emotions.
"It's not..." Max trailed off, and looked at Illito too. "...Is it?"
As if answer to his question the other's Max's communicator, if you could call the ancient object that, beeped, Hunter's voice once again clear in the room. Their Hunter closed his eyes at this point. Max wondered if his head was hurting as much...
=^= Legate Tintagel is now aware of our position Max, we have three minutes, if that, before troops start baring down on our position =^=
"Aknowledged Hunter, Bower out." He closed his communicator and turned to face the others. "It's time to find your friends and get out of here. We have received knowledge of a probe sent through the void approximately ten minutes ago, we believe it is from a friendly vessel, that is where we're going to send you.
"What do you mean you believe?!" Max snapped, anger was now replacing his confusion. No one was explaining to them what the hell was going on and he wanted answers.
"Would you rather stay here and be on the receiving end of whatever the Legate is thinking up or take your chances on that veseel?!"
Max didn't reply, he knew it made sense, whoever the vessel was owned by on the other side was likely to be friendly, if not Starfleet. The odds were definately better. He turned to Illito, placing his hand on her shoulder. She had just been dealt some difficult news, whatever Illito prided herself on was completely the opposite over here. Legate Tintagel destroyed lives, Doctor Tintagel saved them. There could not have been a starker contrast.
"Are you ok?" He asked her tentatively.
<TAG Illito>
"We need to move, now." His double said. We can walk and talk, the Legate will find it more difficult to place us when we are moving, the Asteroid is a great stronghold but it's make up masks life signs in some areas, we have a chance if we keep moving."

“Are you ok?” Commander Bower asked.
“No,” she said, shaking her head, not even sure herself if she was denying the reality of this situation—that had her as someone people were afraid of, and with, it sounded like, good reason—or saying that she wasn't doing well. Probably both. She had been able to ignore AU Bower's odd look, she'd gotten plenty of those from fellow Starfleet officers, and she'd put it down to the simple fact that she was Cardassian, nothing more. But she'd heard the name now, and she couldn't deny it, or explain it away. The only other Tintagel Illito knew was her brother, and Max had made it clear that the Legate was female.
Illito nodded at AU Max, grateful that he, whether intentional or not, had simply said Legate the second time. His advice made sense too, though she had to wonder what he was thinking of her. Hell, she wasn't even sure what to think of her. Because Legate...Tintagel, was, in at least one sense, her, or who she might have been. And Illito really wasn't comfortable with that notion.
Illito started walking, following AU Max. The technology on this asteroid couldn't be that good, if they had only just been located. Which meant they had a chance, and that was something. Illito started walking, but she didn't really want to talk at the moment, so she didn't say anything. Or at least she planned not to say anything. But she could fall victim to curiosity and fascination just as much as anyone else. And the silence meant she had nothing but her own thoughts to keep her occupied, and Illito wasn't too fond of her own thoughts just now. “What's...what's your role in this?” she asked. “You're trying to fight the, uh, Legate, right?”

Paikea didn't know how they had been captured and it seemed as he would never know. At the moment he didn't know if any of his friends were still alive. Hopefully they somehow went back through the void and closed it. He quickly found out that it wasn't the case when he heard shrill scream coming a few meters away. Paikea immediately rushed towards the scream, but knew that it was to late.
The screaming only lasted a moment and then there was silence. He knew that a person had just died and he would be next. He could hear two men conversing like nothing had happened, until the entire complex boomed with klaxons and alarms.
"Kill him quickly, we need to find out what has just happened," the guard said as he activated the door. Paikea was not going to allow himself to be killed without a fight. So when the door opened he instantly struck. His hand found the one of the man's throats which he punctured.
As the first guard fell to the floor dead, the other panicked which gave Paikea enough time to attack. With a quick elbow and kick to the face he was down. Paikea had killed once before and it had still haunted him, but deep down he knew this was very different. His blood soaked vest and hands testified to the violence that he would to display if he wanted to get out of here alive.
It wasn't the logical thing to do, but Paikea needed to know if one of his friends had just died. He quickly entered the room and immediately wished he hadn't. A family of seven were stacked onto each other, phaser burns covering their bodies. Without realizing it, Paikea teared up. It took people without a soul to commit such acts.
"Commander Apirana?" He said, loud enough to be heard through the thick door.
"Captain? Is that you Sir?" Paikea said a bit of relief coming through his body.
"Paikea!" Luke exclaimed, relief swept his body. That was one crew member found at least.
"Captain have you found any more of our people?" Paikea asked as he activated the door and met up with his commanding officer.
(Luke)

The door opened from the other side and there stood Paikea, looking exhausted and slightly shaken up but well enough. Luke grabbed the young man's shoulder and forced a smile. He was genuninely please to see his friend but his mind was elsewhere.
"Captain have you found any more of our people?" He asked.
Luke shook his head, moving behind the CScO and looking into the room he had come from, he barely flinched at the bodies that he saw, his mind focussed on the mission at hand. "I have yet to make contact with anyone else, as far as I know we're here alone. And our communicators are not functioning." He began to rummage through the mess of equipment that was scattered across the tables in the room. He soon found what he was looking for, what appeared to be two phaser rifles of Klingon origin. "So, this is an Alliance base." Luke said quietly.
"I'm sorry Sir?" Paikea asked, moving closer to the Captain but trying to avoid eye contact with the corpses.
"The Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in this Universe, I believe the Bajorans also play a part in it all. We are on one of their bases which means it is the Alliance that wants to pay our Universe a little visit." He paused, threw a rifle to Paikea and started to walk towards the door. "We have to stop that, whatever the cost Commander."
<TAG Paikea>
Luke nodded, not saying a word and began to move through the corridors, keeping as close to the walls and ground as possible with Paikea close behind. Half an hour passed with no contact from anyone else until he rounded a corner where he immediately stopped. He held up his hand and felt Paikea close behind him, remaining silent too. He could hear footsteps, and low voices. He turned round and looked at his friend who just nodded, Luke prepped his weapon and got down on one knee. The day just kept getting longer...

The three Starfleet Officers and the other Max were soon joined by the other Hunter and slowly but surely they made their way through a complicated set of corridors carved into the rock. More than once the thought struck Max that they were being lead into a trap but he continued all the same, if it was a trap then there fate would remain the same even if they had chosen not to follow them, if it wasn't they would hopefully get home...
Illito soon spoke up again, Max looked at her and felt genuine concern for the Doctor. Someone in her profession would pride themself on the fact that they saved lives, but over here, she did quite the opposite... "What's...what's your role in this?" She asked. "You're trying to fight the, uh, Legate, right?"
The other Max nodded, still keeping the pace up. "Her title is that of Legate, not that she earned it..." He stopped talking abruptly realising that perhaps the information he had on Legate Tintagel would not be best received with his current audience. "The reason I choose to help you." He started again almost too quickly. "Is that I am a part of the Resistance against the Alliance, I used to work for the Legate and prided myself on the fact that I had managed to work my way into the company of such power but then I saw what really went on, behind the scenes of that power, and I wanted nothing more to do with it. That was almost two years ago now, since then I've done all I can to disrupt the Alliance, I wasactually one of the team that took Terrok Nor..." He trailed off, leaving the air empty of noise except the sound of their shoes against the hard surface.
Max tried to think of what he was doing two years ago, he decided that he would have just been serving on the Tiger Shark, doing his duties, keeping Astrometrics in a good state, piloting her during the night shifts... Nothing quite so challenging as what the other him had gone through...
They stopped rather abruptly, the other Max turned round. "We are close to where we should run into your Captain." He said.
"How do you know?" Max asked.
"Simple, this is the only route from their cells that they can take, all others are blocked."
They walked for a little while longer when they were forced to stop as rifle fire blasted close to their heads.
"So they found weapons then..." Other Max muttered as he dropped to the floor, everyone else following suit.
Max took the chance of a pause in the fire to call out to his friend. "Luke, it's me, hold your fire!" No shots rained down on their position so Max took that as a positive.
"Come out with your hands where they are visible, walk three paces forward into the light." Came Captain Drago's voice.
Max did as he was told, although he couldn't see Luke, he knew he was there.
"It's alright." He heard Luke say, it's Bower. The others got up off the floor and stood with Max as Luke and Paikea approached.
"So we were the only Senior Staff on the Battle-ready Section." Max said. "Might I suggest we get out of here?"

As Tras was already en route to the bridge, with Commander Parsons in tow, he ignored Pride's signal for now. The rest of the recovered scavenger crew had been assigned to quarters and ordered to rest while they could. Later, should the Carolina be forced to engage an enemy, they would be drawn upon to assist in currently vacant departmental positions.
"I'm sorry Mr Pride," he said, after exiting the turbolift and walking up to the young navigator. "Doctor Tintagel was not among the survivors recovered, however Commander Parsons here ensures me that she was still very much alive the last time he saw her."
He noticed the worried look on his first officer's face, then patted him on the shoulder. "We'll find her Pride, I promise we'll find her. However we can't risk crossing into that universe. We'll just have to give them a beacon to get home."
This time, Tras tapped Pride's console. "Keep me informed about the telemetry coming back from that probe. Send in another one if you have to. Perhaps you would like to go question the pilot from that enemy vessel?" He nodded towards Aquila. "Mr Aquila will accompany you. I'm sure he knows some very persuasive techniquest to make someone talk."

Hours seem to pass as Luke remained crouched down on the floor, he could hear the voices and the footsteps getting closer, he could even hear their breathing. Whoever it was, was making no effort to keep the noise down, which gave Luke hope. The voices rounded the last corner and Luke could make out their rough shapes in the darkness. He recognised three of hiss senior staff, the other two he couldn't make out. However, he kept in mind just where he was, things were not as they seemed in this place. He fired a warning shot a few feet above the heads of those that approached, who immediately threw themselves to the floor.
"Luke, it's me, hold your fire!" Max called from their position, or what he assumed the person to be Max.
He decided to reply, keeping things simple. "Come out with your hands where they are visible, walk three paces forward into the light."
Max walked out into where a small light was projecting it's minimal efforts onto the floor. It was him alright. Luke turned ro Paikea and nodded, simply saying it was alright. They remained where they were for a few minutes more, waiting for the others to get to their feet and then they approached their ship mates. Luke looked at the other two, recognising them instantly but all too aware of who they really were.
"So we were the only Senior Staff on the Battle-ready Section." Max said. "Might I suggest we get out of here?"
"First explain why we are accompanied by your counterparts." Luke ordered, weapon trained on the Mirror Max while Paikea's was on the Mirror Hunter.
"They chose to help us escape Captain." Illito said. "We wouldn't have found them without you."
"And what do they get out of this?" He asked.
"Nothing." Mirror Max responded. "All I know is that it is not right for you to be here. You must return to your Universe, fulfill your destiny there."
Luke sighed, he didn't care for all this fate nonsense. "How many Alliance Officers are on this Base?" He asked.
"No more than 35, including the Legate and her security detail. It was considered unimportant until about a month ago when the invasion fleet was moved here." Mirror Hunter said.
Luke didn't respond but instead looked at Max. "You trust them?" He asked. Max nodded in response. "I trust that they are our only way out of here. They picked up data from a Starfleet probe sent through the void. Telemetry that will lead us to whatever Starship that sent it."
"You have identified the carrier signal?"
"Of course, it's genuine. Not only that the probe registers as from our Universe, it has our quantum signature."
"That can be forged." Luke said, raising an eyebrow and scratching above his right eye. His vision was fogging, without the nanoprobe injections he would lose his sight within the hour.
"I believe them to be authentic." Max replied. "And besides, we have little choice."
Mirror Max turned to Luke and grabbed his arm, looking straight into the Captain's eyes. "In this Universe we were never friends, you and I, Captain. But look at me now and see that I am the same man that stands next to us now. Circumstances is all that makes us different. I assure you, I am telling you the truth."
Luke frowned. "It would seem that we have no choice. What is the plan?"
"We have apprehended technology that will send you back to your Universe with the use of a transporter." Mirror Hunter said.
"Send us where? There's nothing but the Badlands on the other side." Paikea said.
"We will use the data received from the probe and transport you to the location of it's origin."
Luke laughed. "And if the vessel has moved?!"
"We will equip you with EVA suits..." Mirror Max started.
"Even so we won't last ten minutes in the Badlands!" Paikea exclaimed.
Luke began to pace back and forth, they were wasting time, whatever they decided that had to do it now. The alarms were sounded almost half an hour previously, the Base was big and the staff was small but he didn't fancy that they had much time left.
"We'll do it, how far away are the transporters?"
"Captain!" Paikea said, shocked.
Luke ignored him and listened to the other Max who talked through the plan as they walked to the transporters as they arrived and began to suit a voice from behind them caused all of them to turn round in shock. It was a familiar voice, but there was something different about it, something cold.
"Hello Illito." The voice said. "My, I knew we were mirrors of each other but isn't the reflection different? Even the way you hold yourself is peaceful and weak. I'm actually quite upset to see myself like this."
"Continue to suit up." Luke ordered. He looked at Illito he had stopped with the EVA suit and was just staring at her Mirror self. Luke tried to ignore the fact that the Doctor he was just getting to know as peaceful and compassionate was a monster in this Universe. In the Mirror Illito's hands she held what appeared to be some form of laser whip and in the other a phaser pistol of Cardassian design. Her eyes were hollow and her hair was long and uncontrolled. She wore traditional Cardassian uniform, with one subtle difference, a red robe was draped around her shoulders. She was clearly unstable.
"Where is your guard Tintagel?!" Mirror Max spat and his counterpart helped Illito to regain focus and get the suit on.
"I do not require their assistance right now." She said, smiling. "Perhaps I could have a chat with my good friend Doctor Tintagel."
"I'm afraid she's not available right now." Max said, rushing Illito onto the transporter platform. Hunter followed close behind leaving his and Hunter's counterparts with Drago and Paikea facing Legate Tintagel.
"We can only transport three at a time." Mirror Max said, moving over to the console. Luke and Paikea kept their weapons trained on the Legate.
"I noticed." Luke replied. "Perhaps you could send them over so we could go to?"
"I don't believe any of you are going anywhere." Legate Tintagel said, her eyes flashed with anger and she began to move forward. Luke's guess on the laser whip turned out to be right on the mark as it flickered into life. She waved it above her head and laughed as Mirror Hunter jumped back. "You will die first." And as she spoke the last word she flicked her wrist and Hunter lay on the floor, blood freely flowing from where his head has once joined his body.
It all seemed to happen too fast after that, Illito screamed and then the three dissapeared in the whirl of the transporter. Luke and Paikea opened fire and began to walk backwards onto the transporter. The Legate, however, seemed unphased by their shots and continued to walk slowly, and purposefully towards them, whip in the air, phaser raised.
"Get on the pad!" Luke yelled to the Mirror Max. "Now!"
Seconds later they were enveloped in a cloud of orange particles and appeared on solid ground on the other side. Luke opened his eyes and glanced around. The two Max's, Paikea, Illito and Hunter were all present. However they were surrounded by what appeared to be the entire Bridge crew of the vessel they were on with phasers set on them. Luke slowly lifted up his arms and removed his helmet.
"Captain Drago!" Luke heard a familiar voice cry out.
"Tras?!" Luke said in response.
"No time!" Mirror Max said. "I know how to close the void, I suggest we do it now."
He began to move towards the Navigations console but was stopped by one of Tras' security officers.
"Stand down Lieutenant. He knows what he's doing." Luke ordered. The officer looked at Tras who nodded, then allowed Max past.
"I am reconfiguring the deflector to fire into the void, we will lose sheilds which will make the journey out of this place a little more interesting but I believe it to be the only way."
Luke told the Mirror Max to get on with it and approached Tras.
"How...?" He started to ask.
"In time." Tras replied. "First it would seem that you all need medical attention." He tapped his comm badge. "Tras to Sickbay, prepare for injured." He looked at the two Max's on the Bridge. "There also would appear to be some explanation necessary."
Luke ignored him. "What of the rest of the crew?" Did they make it through the void?"
Tras nodded. "Those who made it through have been assigned temporary quarters and have been treated by our Doctor and EMH. Now perhaps it would be wise for the you to receive that same treatment."
Again Luke ignored the Commander and went to stand behind Mirror Max. "How long?" He asked.
"Now." Came the short reply. The Starship rocked as the deflector shot out a beam of energy that tore into the void. "Watch for the fireworks. I'm setting an immediate course out of here. The volatile nature of the wherever we are might not respond well to this at all."
The ship started to come about as the void began to close in on itself, shockwaves began to catch up with the Starship and she was thrown forward.
"On screen!" Tras ordered. All eyes on the Bridge were now focussed on the viewscreen, there before them was where the void once was, now all that remained was a colourful array of charged plasma. "Get us out of here, full impulse. Jump to warp as soon as we clear the Badlands and get us to Assailant."
An officer replaced Mirror Max at the helm and carried out Tras' orders whilst Luke checked up on his crew on the Bridge. Illito looked in a terrible state.
"Now, may I suggest that the trip to Sickbay is instigated now?" Tras said to the group, still looking warily at the two Max's.

Still in shock at the sudden appearnce of the rest of the bridge crew and the sudden events. The ship was shaking like crazy. Looking over at Max "I'll take it from here I can handle the after shocks so we escape with minimal damage." Looking back down at his read outs and adjusting the course the rocking became slower.
Turning back to look at commander Tras and Captain Drago when he noticed Illito and smiled. She didn't look happy something had happened that upset her and he didn't like it. Looking back at Commander Tras then spoke up. " Until you are all cleared by sick bay you need to rest and I mean everybody. Command wont change hands until sickbay clears everybody"
Looking at Commander tras he was worried about there state but there wasn't anything he could do. " Sir I suggest we set course for starbase and inform star fleet command of our current situtation we still have one prisoner aboard who can't go home now and a nother commander Max aboard." Then he hand signed the rest of his statement.
"Sir until we know excatly whats going on and that crew checks out I suggest security details on all vital sections of the ship with limited access from the scavenger crew to those area's and that we inform star fleet to have counselors standing by to make sure the mental health of the crew is stable from the recent, I also want a security detail following both Commander Max's until we figure out whats going on here" <Tag Tras>
Looking back at Captain Drago " Its good to see you sir ah you owe me a shuttle something very old I think to make up for the one that was destroyed with the scavenger" smiling and making sure he knew it was a joke.
Looking back at Illito and smiling " Well I think its time everybody reports to sick bay, and gets checked out just to be safe" Looking at her and trying not to run up to her and hug her.

Noticeing a Marine captain with a worried look on his face one that he him self has shared.
" Captain hunter you will find all you Marines on deck four. They came through with the first group. There all okay they haven't selp yet and wont until they know your back. You might want to bed them down" <Tag Hunter>
Looking around the bridge and realizing that very soon him and Drago would know longer be in charge. It was a odd feeling he kind of liked be the first officer only if there wasn't so much paper work. Looking back at the helm he realized if he followed the command path he wouldn't get to pilot the much.
Still there were things that needed to be done there prisoner still had to be dealt with. Then there was Illito he decided to head to sick bay to check on her turning to the counselor.
" You have the bridge Counselor call me if anything comes up I"ll be in sick bay" thinking he was grateful to his family for teaching him to shut his feelings out he didn't want anybody to know how concerned he was. But he knew he wasn't fooling anybody they could tell he cared.
he headed to sick bay to see Illito and rest of the crew.<Tag anybody in sick bay>

Tras followed the Scavenger senior staff to sickbay, while Pride lingered to strike up a conversation with the senior marine officer, William Hunter. Jonathan Loken lingered to let Tras catch up with him. "I need Damar in sickbay," he whispered, "they're all suffering from severe stress and I wouldn't recommend for any of them to return to any form of duty for the next forty-eight hours."
Tras nodded and tapped his combadge. "Ensign Damar, report to sickbay," he ordered as the two men walked on.
"Yes sir," came the immediate response from the Carolina's counselor.
Tras grimaced as he entered sickbay, then nodded for Loken to proceed with his duties. He spotted Drago being held down on one of the biobeds by one of the Carolina's male nurses. "Better obey him captain," Tras suggested, "he'll sedate you if he has to. You're all ordered to rest for the next 48 hours."
"Bridge to Tras. Sir, priority one message coming in from starfleet. And captain? It's your eyes only, for now...," came Aquila's voice and he sounded urgent.
"Rest captain," Tras repeated, "but join me in my readyroom when Nurse Masson here releases you to your own leisure time. We need to have a little talk..." Before leaving, Tras walked up to the Cardassian doctor first. "I've a counselor waiting, if you have need of her," he offered, nodding towards the Betazoid woman that had joined them. He patted Illito on the shoulder, meaning to be of comfort to her. "It is good to see you back and alive doctor, I have missed you."
(Illito)
Tras walked out of sickbay and returned to the bridge. Aquila forwarded the call from starfleet to his readyroom, where he read it with increasing worry.
"Tholians?" he murmured, as he walked back onto the bridge.
"sir?"
"Call Pride back to the bridge. Set course for Tholian space, maximum speed."

Not even halfway to sickbay he got the call to report back to the bridge. Knowing the crew the way he did he knew it was importan. Breaking into a run he headed back to the bridge. Exiting the turbo lift he saw Commander Tras in the center seat.
Thats when the alarms in his head started going off something happened he could tell by the concerned look on Tras face. " Captain you wanted to see me, something is a foot I can tell by your expression" <Tag Tras>

"Yes, something is afoot," Tras snapped, "we are ordered into Tholian space, but the admiralty chooses not to tell us. Fine mess we're in! Stuck with people from a mirror universe, survivors from a ship destroyed in said mirror universe. Get onto the conn and call Parsons and Apirana to the bridge. Drago should be on his way once the doc clears him. Tintagel should stay in sickbay and help our doc."
Tras turned in his seat. "Aquila, find me any information on the Tholians. We're to find a pretty large barge out there, and scan for Trill lifesigns. That's all I know!" He turned back to face the main screen. "I hate it when they remain vague on orders given," he scowled, "why would we have to go search for a Trill in Tholian space? What Trill?"
His eyes widened as he glared at Pride. "Lin!" he breathed, "Lin was abducted from Assaillant and has been missing since, without a trace. But why would the Tholians..." His voice tailed off as he sank back in his seat. "No this can't be true, they must be referring to another Trill." He glanced around at his own crew. "Not a word of this to the Scavenger survivors, we don't want to worry them any further. They need their down time, they have been under severe psychological duress. And that's an order."
He was pleased to hear the 'ayes' coming from all around him and nodded in approval. "Very well. Mr Pride, continue into Tholian space, and page sickbay to see what is keeping Captain Drago and Commanders Apirana and Parsons. Apirana could give Aquila a hand on science, then he can get some rest. Parsons could take over on OPS, so that you too can get some rest."

Illito, honestly, was not in the mood to do much of anything, not even to go to sickbay. But she understood why that was important. In any other situation, she would have been the one advocating sickbay the loudest. But not right now. Illito saw Pride, and was surprised, and enormously pleased, to see him.
She still wasn't sure what to think, and let herself be herded into sickbay with the rest of the recently returned crew before she could even think to do anything else. It was such a shock to see Pride, and there was so much she wanted to talk about with him.
They say that doctors make the worst patient, and this is even more true when the doctor is distracted, and doesn't have any severe external injuries. Still, Illito did her best to follow the exact orders of the doctors and nurses, without thinking about them much. She didn't feel like making any real decisions just now.
Captain Tras entered sickbay, and, after talking to Captain Drago, came over to Illito and offered the use of a counselor.
Illito frowned slightly. “Thank you,” she said, then paused longer than normal before continuing. “But I don't think that will be necessary.” Still, Illito herself would admit herself that she wasn't sure what she needed. If the counselor insisted on talking to her, Illito would probably talk back, since that would be the easiest thing to do.
Right now, Illito really wanted to see Pride, and hug him. She wanted to just cling to him for a while, but Illito hadn't seen him since they'd been on the bridge. She was a little surprised he hadn't come down, since Captain Tras had, but she supposed he must have been occupied with piloting this ship.
Illito had thought Tras was saying they were to relax for a while, but it seemed that instead she was being told to help in sickbay, and other officers were also going about some limited duties. Illito could see places where she could help with other patients, but she didn't want to intrude on another doctor's space. It turned out her fears were ill-founded, as when she asked Doctor Loken what she could do to help, he said simply to go with her instincts. Instincts. A funny word, that, implying that she would just 'know' what the right thing to do was. But she didn't, that was what the encounter in the mirror universe had proved, without a doubt.
Illito sighed, straightened her neck the slightest, trying to show some confidence, for the sake of whatever patients she would be helping to take care. She did her best to forget everything that had happened, emerging herself in the beautiful art of healing.

Parsons and the others onboard the Battle-Ready Section continued targeting enemy ships harassing the escape pods and shuttles until systems were critical.
"Dunsmore to Parsons, that's it, she's had it, Sir. We're going to break apart if we continue to take fire."
"Hold her together for a few more minutes Commander," Parsons replied.
The Battle-Ready section then sped for the rip in space time. A small ship pursued and continued to fire. Suddenly the ship rocked and the engines failed. "Sir, we're dead in the water!" Tarapik warned.
Parsons stood, "Fire everything you've got." A barrage of torpedoes and phaser fire lit up space and the pursuing vessel was destroyed. "Sir, there are still more enemy ships nearby, Tarapik warned."
"Mr. Dunsmore, status of the engines?"
Dunsmore's response was quite colorful, but the message was clear, engines were down, permanently.
"Mr. Dunsmore, I want you to dump the computer core and we are going to abandon ship. Tarapik and I will be down shortly to assist."
Parsons gave the signal for all hands to abandon ship and head for the tear in space. He and Tarapik transfered bridge command to Engineering. Once the computer core had been dumped and all ships systems had been made inoperable, Tarapik, Dunsmore, and Parsons boarded an escape pod and headed for the gap in space.
The three were picked up a short time later by a Nova class vessel commanded by Commander Tras. Tras met them in the transporter room.
Tras stepped forward, offering Parsons a brief salute. "Welcome aboard the USS South Carolina, Commander Parsons. Once the doctor has patched you up, I'll be expecting you and your senior staff in my readyroom for debriefing. Where is Captain Drago?"
Parsons looked at his feet with an immense feeling of guilt.
"Captain Drago is Missing In Action, Commander. He and the rest of the main section crew abandoned ship before us and I had hoped you had already picked them up."
Parsons was checked out briefly by medical personnel and made his way to the bridge with Tras.
***
After a successful rescue operation, the surviving Scavenger crew was reunited with their Captain and the rift in space was closed.
***
Once Parsons had briefed the Captain on what happened after the destruction of the Scavenger and expressed his deep regret at not having been able to save the Battle-Ready Section or more of the crew, Parsons finished his medical exam and was cleared for duty. He reported to Tras on the Bridge and relieved the officer at Operations.

Looking up from his postion at the helm he saw Commander Parsons enter the bridge and talkt to captain tras, then he came over to releave him on ops. It wasn't his normal post but they were short on crew. They had more pilots the ops officer and he was the acting first officer for now anyway.
" Commander Parsons its good to see you sorry to hear about the scavenger. He already missed the ship himself. We are scanning for a barge in Tholian space make sure to report any life signs you might find." Being careful not to mention trill but he knew it might be just a matter of time before they pick up on that. Still he changed the trill life signs to show up as vulcan to give Captain tras a little more time. Then forward a message letting him know that the trill life sign would show up as vulcan.
He didn't like the idea of the crew going back to work after loosing there ship. It wasn't a good idea but there wasn't any choice here. Walking back down to the captain and asking him if he could have a moment in his ready room with him. " Sir can I talk to you in private for a moment" They got up and head for the ready room
" Sir you know I change the life signs to show up as vulcan. It wont take Commander parsons long to figure that out. I dont like this we are being set up again and this time there is no question of it. Not to mention the crew shouldn't be working after the loss of there ship" before Captain tras could protest. " Sir I know there's no choice in this I understand that but I can see a problem coming and thats going to be command of this ship soon. I as much as I hate to say this dont think its a good idea to switch command back to Captain Drago or commander Parsons yet."
Pausing " The loss of a ship is a big deal and normaly would be followed by a lot of counseling. I would suggest for the moment to get with the doctor and see if he agree's that way you can retain command unless the Doctor sees no problems then switch command but thats going to cause problems if she is aboard that ship. Its something to consider and as your first officer I have to worry about this crew, they dont know Captain Drago or parsons and they might resist a command change right now which would be good" < Tag Tras>
Few mins later walking in to sick bay it was busy and there was alot of scavenger crew there. All he cared about was one person. He saw her working with a nurse and came up behind her. " You still owe me a dinner date Commander one I intend to collect if I have to fight the whole dam borg collective to get"<Tag Illito>
she turned to him and before she could say anything he hugged her and didn't care what anybody thought

Tras had to concede that point to his acting first officer; most aboard the Carolina didn't know Parsons or Drago, but by right and rank they were the senior officers and by right and rank, Drago could relieve him of duty. Especially given his proven instability in a command position on the past. However, that was not the issue right now; they had a Trill to find, regardless of who that Trill was.
"Thank you commander," he told Pride, then strode over to the science console. "Aquila, any signal on our...Vulcan yet?"
Aquila cast him a questioning look until it dawned on him that Pride had made a few sensor modifications. Swiveling his seat back to his console, his hands flew over the panels to his left and right, while he simultaneously checked various readings. "yes sir, we have our Vulcan!"
"Mr Parson, why don't you take the tactical station for now, until Mr Drago gets back onto the bridge. Pride, if you could please disentangle yourself from the dear doctor, I need you to man the conn. Doctor, please keep an eye on environmental control, this could get rough."
Standing in the middle of the bridge, Tras turned back to face the science officer. "Feed Mr Parsons our co-ordinates, then get a move on. We have someone to rescue!"
"Captain!" Aquila cried over the sound of the red alert. "Tholians are hailing us!"
"On screen!" Tras whirled around to face the main screen. "Tholian ve-"
He was cut short when the Tholian that appeared began to speak. "We have someone here that would like to return to his home starbase," the universal translator rendered his clicks and hisses to speech.
Tras was speechless. "Stand down from red alert," he ordered, "who is this person that wishes to return? We are on a rescue mission..."
The Tholian almost seemed to smile as he took a step aside to show Admiral Lin step into view. Tras' eyes widened in surprise. "Admiral Lin!" he breathed, motioning in his silent signal language to Pride and Aquila to drop shields and lock on to the Trill admiral. "Thank you Mr...?"
The Tholian uttered a series of clicks which the universal translator failed to render into a name. "Please beam the admiral straight to the bridge," Tras ordered, supporting his words with his signals.
Seconds later, the Trill admiral stood on the bridge of the USS South Carolina. "Admiral Lin, welcome to the USS South Carolina. I must apologize for our appearance but we have just rescued most of the crew of the USS Scavenger."

"Thankyou Commander" Magellan nodded. The Admiral looked somewhat dishevelled, he had several days worth of facial hair and his uniform was dirty and ragged, "The Crew of the Scavenger you say?"
"Yes sir" Tras confirmed, "Will you be assuming command Sir?"
"No no" Magellan replied with a wave of his hand, "Carry on."
"Sorry sir" Tras said holding a hand up to his ear
"Carry on." Magellan repeated, "I could do with a room to freshen up and I need a secure link to Starfleet Command. Priority encoding."
"We can set that up" Tras stated beckoning an ensign over, "Find the admiral quarters please."
Magellan followed the young lad out and was accomodated with a simple enough room. Before he changed he quickly made his report to command. They were as shocked by his revelations as he had been, once he had been released from his prison and allowed to speak to the Tholians. That was the easy part, now the fate of an intergalactic war rested on his shoulders and the information he now held.
An hour later after a shower, food and change of clothes Magellan felt altogher Trill again and able to take up his duties again. He quickly checked in with Assailant to make sure they called off the search and then ran a check on Dragos and Parsons logs. He frowned at the loss of the Scavenger. He still hadnt replaced the loss of the Nevada and with the war between the Tholians and the Klingons ever close to spilling into Federation Space he needed as many ships active as possible.
He made a call to the bridge.
"Commander Tras please have Captain Drago and Commander Parsons report to me immediatly to explain the loss of their ship. Thankyou"

Parsons chatted briefly with Pride as the commander relived him.
"Mr Parsons, why don't you take the tactical station for now, until Mr Drago gets back onto the bridge. Pride, if you could please disentangle yourself from the dear doctor, I need you to man the conn. Doctor, please keep an eye on environmental control, this could get rough."
Parsons gave a questioning glance back to Commander Tras but quickly made his way over to the tactical station.
Standing in the middle of the bridge, Tras turned back to face the science officer. "Feed Mr Parsons our co-ordinates, then get a move on. We have someone to rescue!"
After a brief and strange exchange with some Tholians, Admiral Lin was transported onto the bridge of the USS South Carolina. "Admiral Lin, welcome to the USS South Carolina. I must apologize for our appearance but we have just rescued most of the crew of the USS Scavenger," said the Captain.
The Admiral and the Captain exchanged an awkward greeting and the Admiral then left the bridge to freshen up.
***
A little while later, Parsons was snapped back into the reality of the situation and the events of the past few days.
"Commander Tras please have Captain Drago and Commander Parsons report to me immediately to explain the loss of their ship. Thankyou"
Commander Parsons heard this message from the Tactical Station and a lump immediately formed in his throat. It was a little like being called into the Principal's office, yet remembering the loss of comrades and their ship, the gravity of the situation began to sink in and for the first time since they had been rescued the young commander allowed his mind to be flooded with the horrors of combat....but only for a short time.
Parsons nodded to Tras and left the bridge, the walk to Lin's makeshift office and quarters was made on autopilot and Adam reached the Admiral's door before he realized. Hesitating a moment outside the door, then signaling his arrival.

Pride walked into sickbay when Illito's back was turned, so she heard him before she saw him. When she did hear him, though, she set down the medical tools she had been occupying herself with, and turned around to meet his hug. She wasn't sure she wanted to let him go, but Captain Tras' orders were that she had to monitor environmental concerns. Which Illito did, after a few seconds more. She hadn't seen Pride in ages, after all.
But then she was back on duty, in the moment, and Pride had returned to the bridge. She could catch up during that dinner date she had promised him and he had just sworn he'd collect on. But apparently there wasn't much to do for the environmental controls as the Tholians—Tholians? Why were there Tholians?—didn't fire, simply opened a comm channel. And the ship stood down from its red alert.
Illito wished she had a better idea of what was going on, but not only was she rather isolated, what with being in sickbay and all, but this wasn't even her ship. So maybe she shouldn't expect to hear that much what was going on, but she would have assumed that someone would have told her something. Instead, all she had was that there had been Tholians, and vague rumors from various people that Admiral Lin had come aboard the USS South Carolina. Illito hoped Pride came down again soon, she could be sure, at least, that he would tell her what she knew. Not that she was sure that was what they'd be talking about.

The door chirruped and Magellan rose to his feet to meet his guest.
"Enter" he commanded,
Commander Parsons entered. The Officer was well turned out and stood respectfully at the doorway.
"Come in Commander, Take a seat."
Adam did as he was told. He looked at the Admiral. He looked altogether better now. He had a clean uniform and the dirt and sweat from his face were gone. He wondered what ordeal the Admiral had been through.
"Thankyou for coming. Its a good job the South Carolina was passing, it could have taken me days to get home othewise and Tholian ships are so damned hot."
Adam smiled politely. He didnt know the Admiral well and so far hadnt had time to guage him.
"How can I help you sir?"
Magellan appreciated the direct approach, "The loss of any ship necessitates an investigation and often a court martial. If it isnt started here it would be on Assailant. And as we are still a few hours from home I may as well make a start. So how about you run it all past me before I speak to Captain Drago."
