He pulled his hand away at the sound of a voice, Which made him slightly jump.
"Are you all right cadet?" S'reena called. She'd taken a little break from the festivities to privately feed her triplets, but when she came walking back she found one of the new cadets leaning against a bulkhead, an odd expression on his face.
"Sorry sir, I was just getting a fell for her." Paul responded "I didn't mean to intrude."
"Intrude onto whom?" the Romulan enquired, "don't lie to me cadet. I have not been first officer for so long if I wouldn't be able to tell something is deeply troubling you."
She motioned for the cadet to follow her, while she pushed the buggy along. "Talk to me cadet," she said gently, "something has happened to you in the past, and something just made you relive it. Don't lie to me, I know that expression." She smiled softly. "I've seen it all to often...on my own face."

Isis was sneaking away when the admiral approached her.
"Hello, cadet!" He said.
"Um... Hello sir... I don't suppose you remember me at all?"

Paul looked at the Romulan. He knew that it would be better to tell her before it got in the way of his duty and maybe her may be able at least let go of some of the bad stuff. He looked at the Romulan again trying to get a feel for why she was trying to do this. Then he looked down and cleared his throat. “Well When I was quite young me and my family were captured by pirates and forced to mine for precious ores. But while we were there my mother and father died.” Paul tried to fight the tears building in his eyes, then he shook them off and continued “My father was killed trying to defend my eldest brother. He had an argument with one of the pirates and my father jumped in a got shot. As for my mother she committed suicide after I was whipped into unconsciousness for defending her. I still have the scar.” Paul looked at the Romulan again as they walked down the corridor pushing her buggy, She remained silent he knew this was a tactic trying to get more info out of him. He couldn’t help but comply. They were alone and it was his superior surely no one else would know. “And me and my brothers escaped when the federation freed us.” He couldn’t help but notice the commander was still looking straight ahead, he frowned in frustration. “It’s not the fact that they died that bothers me. It’s the fact that they died there…….in that h……in that hell hole.” he stopped to look at his superior “Sorry about the hell sir”
<Hope>
“That’s all” Paul tried to finished. Commander Hope looked at him unconvinced. “I wasn’t very old when I went in. And I missed most of my child hood in that place. I just don’t like crowds any more it reminds me……..” Paul said as he gave in to tears this time. The tears were not plentiful but just enough to notice he was. “it reminds me of that place” He finished now he was getting really frustrated with commander Hope. “Say something” Paul said as the tears became more “Please, Say something” The young cadet collapsed to his knees in front of the commander.

"Don't worry about it," S'reena replied, trying to encourage the young man to continue. She knew from experience that talking helped, even though personally she still disliked talking about her own youth and the misfortunes she had as a child and the trauma's they had caused. Even though this young man's misery was worse, she knew exactly how he felt. When she'd been in the academy, one of her own instructors had drawn her own history from her in exactly this way.

“Say something” Paul said as the tears became more “Please, Say something” The young cadet collapsed to his knees in front of the commander.
The Romulan gazed down at the cadet, feeling somewhat awkward as she patted him on the shoulder. "It's all right," she whispered, kneeling beside the cadet, "but you really have to get over it. It's quite all right not to like crowds, but how are you going to function on a hectic bridge if you don't get yourself over this?"
She lifted the young man's chin and forced him to look at her. "Come with me, we're going back to the party. You're going to stick with me and we are going to face the music now. Michael, my husband is there too and he'll mind the kids, while we are going to mingle with the crowd. What do you say? After that, you and I are going down to sickbay, where Doctor Brelev will give you the once-over and give you something to calm your nerves."
Raising an eyebrow, she waited for the cadet to respond.

Paul Cain found a sudden strength in Commander Hopes words. He lifted himself to his feet and wiped a sleeve across his face. Then he stood tall and looked Hope in the eyes. "Yes ma'am" Paul smiled at the women who in just a few short minutes made his life better. Not completely perfect, But just better. Now he could at least face up to the difficulties rather than dwell on them. S'reena put a arm around the young mans shoulders and they walked. "You know i can see this being the beginning of a beautiful friendship" S'reena turned to look at him with a puzzled look on her face "Oh i studied a bit of earth history, it's an old movie from the twentieth century" She smiled at him and they walked on back to the party. He would meet her husband and then they would begin the next chapter of his life. Not together but she would be the rock for the young man about to make the biggest and most scariest step of his life.

Joan chuckled a little about the hectic life part. She liked the saying and thought it might be a good one to learn later if she had time.
"I guess you are right, I don't lead a quiet life in the least. I don't think a quiet life would suit me either, but this one, well it seems to be just for me, exactly what the doctor ordered," she said and smiled his way. She noticed a twinkle in his eye, one she had seen before on male cadets when she was a ship instructor. ~I know exactly what that means, I just hope he doesn't make a move. Tom would be very unhappy about that.~ She thought, and turned her attention back to the newly graduated cadet.
"Yes, with Star Fleet you never know where you are going or when you will be back. Luckily though, you make a whole set of new friends each time you go somewhere new, so you can never be lonely unless you choose to," she said quickly before anyone else came up with anything remotely like the saying.
"What are your plans for the next couple of days then? You are going to need some quarters, am I right?" Joan said, and continued to smile. She thought about flirting, but decided it was best not to. ~More like flirting with danger if I tried that.~ She thought, and waited to see what he was planning.

Wolf: Listened to McCormick "Yes, with Star Fleet you never know where you are going or when you will be back. Luckily though, you make a whole set of new friends each time you go somewhere new, so you can never be lonely unless you choose to,"
thinking about what she had to say and trying very hard not to admire her good looks and show her the respect that she was due " Your right of course but i still think that its important to remember what we leave behind and how we have changed from the people we leave behind."
Wolf started wondering about future and about McCormick He could tell by the way she acted that she already had somebody well at least I might make a friend and you never know where friendship might lead you in the future his parents had always told him, Looking back at McCormick he could tell she was trying to be his friend she was worried about where he was going to stay
"What are your plans for the next couple of days then? You are going to need some quarters, am I right?"
thinking of a smart answer and trying to keep a straight face " Well normal I would try and convince you to let me stay with you" Alittle chuckle escapes" But seeing that you are a greater challenge and would require more time then I have until I ship out then I'll stay where ever you recommend on the condition that we can be friends and you show me around. other wise I think I'll put on a space suite and sleep out side" <Tag McCormick>

"A challenge huh? Well, if I did let you stay with me, I am sure my mother would whip the both of us, and I wouldn't want to cause anyone any pain, especially me. Sleep outside? Definately a sight to see, but I wouldn't make you do that. I could always use another friend," she said and smiled.
"You and I could probably have a lot of fun on the base, I look forward to it," she continued, and chuckled.
"I am sure we can find you suitable quarters on the base. I am sure my closet is big enough, and if my mother asks, I can just say Leena didn't want to share her spot," Joan said keeping a straight face, which was very hard at that moment.

S'reena held her arm around the young man's shoulder as together they walked back into the holodeck. "Now, why don't we go mingle with the crew hm?" she suggested, "over there I see commander McCormick."
The Romulan smiled mischievously. "I'll have you know she's a menace....good officer and a friend of mine but honestly a menace. She'll have stories to tell you about our adventures, I promise." Now she motioned to other officers. "See the old man over there?" Again she chuckled, a glint of mischief in her eyes. "That's Admiral Drew...also quite a menace if you ask me. But he's a really easygoing man, and he's quite friendly. Come I'll introduce you to him, trust me, he won't bite."
Carefully, she led the young man towards Paul Drew. "Admiral, someone I'd like you to meet. This is Cadet Paul Cain." Then she noticed a new officer, whose record she'd just recently noted down as coming to the Hanson as science instructor. "And look there, Commander Kalen." She waved her arm to get the new science chief's attention.
Her eyes caught McCormick's and she instantly knew the young commander was up to something. "Can I leave this cadet in your hands admiral?" she asked quietly, giving Cain a supportive squeeze on the arm, "don't let him bolt away and don't scare the poor boy." She whispered something to Drew that made him nod in understanding, then walked off.
"Up to mischief again commander?" S'reena asked, suddenly appearing at McCormick's side.

The young Cadet was slightly confused by the way commander Hope reacted when they arrived back a the party. He couldn't help smiling to himself.
It was a bit hectic mingleing with commander Hope. One moment he was about to talk to Admiral Drew the next it was Commander McCormick. It was fast paced and kind of fun to watch the Commander mingle.
But in all honesty somthing confused him more what kind of mischief could a Commanding officer cause. Well he was about to find out about the level which could be.
He stood there eyebrows lowered and lips slightly pursed and to the side thinking. Trying to figure out what was going on. Then he gave up and decided to slip back to Admiral Drew.
He approached the Admiral slowly, Gaining confidence with each step closer. Not realising that Commander Hope kept a watchful eye. It was too late now, Paul realised as he was right on top of the Admral. Well he would be if walked any furhter.
The Admiral looked at Paul with a puzzled look as He yet had to open his mouth a speak.
"Sir, I hear i'm gonna be placed with you on my trainning mission, And i'd just like to introduce myself." Paul said taking a moment to catch his breath. "I'm Cadet fourth class Paul Cain, Sir" He stood back slightly and to attention then saluted.

OOC: JP between Katrina Williamson and Joan McCormick.
IC:
Joan smiled. "Of course, its no fun to be good all the time," she said, and realized what time it was.
"Sorry, everyone, I have an appointment I must keep. I hope to see all of you later," she said and excused herself.
A little while later, Kat entered the holodeck on Hanson to see if all the cadets were here.
"Oh good, I was hoping they were here. We need some help on Conqueror. The base is completely offline, and no one knows why. If we could all come to Tanta Maria's for now. I will go look for Commander McCormick and meet you all there," Kat said, and it seemed like she was heard throughout the whole holodeck.
OOC: This is better explained on the 'Standard Black' thread on the base. If you could all join me there, thanks.

So I guess its guest quarters for awhile. I will how every take you up on the tour and having some harmless fun until I have to leave" He like the way she smiled but knew that they would just be friends which was okay with him.< Tag McCormick>

Drew smiled at the young man before him, who was looking increasingly nervous as he stood to attention.
“A pleasure to meet you Cadet,” Drew said kindly and then added, “You may stand at ease.”
“Thank you Admiral,” Cadet Cain replied. Almost as quickly as he had stood to attention, Cadet Cain now relaxed, although he still appeared somewhat nervous. As Drew spotted an amused looking S’reena Hope in the corner, watching the conversation, he began to get the impression his First Officer had been up to her old tricks again.
“Tell me Cadet,” Drew said, placing a hand on his shoulder, “what has Commander Hope been telling you?”
“Nothing sir,” Cain replied, a little too quickly.
Drew chuckled; S’reena was being too evil with these Cadets.
“Let me give you a word of advice, something that will service you will on the Hanson, when Commander Hope has a smile on her face, never believe a word she tells you.”
Cadet Cain looked confused for a few moments, and appeared uncertain what to say next, feeling sorry for him, Drew changed the subject.
“So tell me a bit more about yourself Cadet, what makes you tick?”

The young man seemed to ease at the change of conversation.
"Well sir, I like science i don't know what it is about it, But ever since i was young i've just had a passion for finding answers to things people can't understand. That's part of the reason i joined up sir" Paul said.
The admiral stood in silence for a moment observing the quiet Cadet or what was the quiet Cadet. And wondering where the words came from.
"Well Cadet Cain, Welcome on board. This is just a short stay soon we'll be shipping off. And hopefully with you and several other Cadet's." The admiral explained "I assume you've met some of the instucetors?" He finnished with a question.
"Well sir" Paul said and took a breath "I have met a few including Commander Hope"
"Yes, Well i'm glad to see you already know who you'll be working with" Admiral Drew Smiled "It's a pain when you get to know them on the job because you'll be working."
There was a long silence between the two men. Paul was trying to think of more to say but the words were just not there. He took a sip of his drink and smiled nervously.

Thump. thump. thump. thump.
max had beamed over to starbase early to take a morning jog someplace real. While the Holodeck was nice, it was still fake. Come breakfast time, Max found himself in front of a small bakery. A few Scones and Tea later, He headed to Graduation. It was more or less a standard Graduation he supposed. It wasn't really his thing.
He leaned against a wall in the program and just watched the rest of the group. there were some new cadets there who he didn't know, As well as the ones who had just graduated. hopefully, this next mission would be a bit less... well, a bit less crazy.
