At the science station, Jolim seemed to be performing the scans with Brelev's assistance, while Fraugg was also standing around, apparently a little bored. "Cadets Arika and Fraugg, you are with me," S'reena's voice suddenly rang over the otherwise relatively quiet bridge.
" Yes mam" Aerial said, in response. As she had been replying to most everything else. She was extremely lost as everthing began to happen very quickly.
"We're taking a shuttlecraft down planet, call up the turbolift, I'll be with you in a second." S'reena grimaced at the thought of taking just two cadets down planet. "Hope to Daya, report to shuttlebay one," she ordered, "I'm in need of your expertise as security chief. You're to bring your phaser rifle."
With that settled, she joined the two cadets in the turbolift. "How are your skills on first contact?" she querried them, even though she knew they were to stay away from the locals.
A deer-in-the-headlights was the very old expression Aerial's great grandmother had used that came to mind. Because that must have been the look on her face when she hear S'reena mention first contact. Of course, moments later she could tell she it wasn't serious. However, it had given her heart a run for it's money.
Somewhat later "Cadet Fraugg, you might want to have a look at that nebula overthere," S'reena suggested, pointing at the brightly orange/red pulsating nebula. She had barely spoken the words when to her horror the nebula came charging towards them. "What the!" she exclaimed, as consoles were sent sparking, and one of them exploded in her face.
With a cry she covered her eyes, as she felt he pressure of the shuttle going in a down spin, just barely braked enough by the planet's atmosphere, before it crashed on the planet's soft surface.
Blinded, S'reena reached for her seat, but she never got there. Upon impact she was slammed against the console and the last thing she knew was hearing bones break.
Aerial had heard the Commander and had glance but before she knew could open her mouth she was on the floor from the fall.
When Daya came too, he pushed himself off the ground, out from under a chair. Struggling to stand he steadied himself on a still standing chair and held on as the blood rushed back to his head. "Commander, you ok?" He asked as he blinked from the pain and light.
Hearing no reply he cried out again, then looked for the cadets. "Cadets, report"
"Here sir." Aerial groaned picking herself up.
Daya started moving a few loose peices of junk and found Commander Hope's body, under stray peice of metal, she was unmoving and bleeding. "Cadet, help me lift this off of her" he said, as one of the cadets came over to help.. They lifted the sheet of metal off and Daya knelt down to Hope's side, checking for a pulse. "Gimme a medpak, now" he yelled out as he started removing the outer layer of clothing.
When the cadet handed him the medpak, he began administering basic first aid, then stopped when he saw the cadets standing, waiting. "Cadet Akira see if you can get communications back online, the other see what else you can do for the commander."
He stood back as Fraugg bent down to place more bandages on Hope's body, Daya found his rifle and kicked open the doors to the shuttle, letting in the bright light. grabbing a spare tricorder, he checked the outside , finding no signs of life anywhere near them, he stepped back in the shuttle.
Aerial looked over the commader. S'reena looked to have a broken arm, but the bone had not puctured the skin and it was not a complete fracture, on the optimistic side. She also appeared to have burns on her face, particularly around her eyes.
Brelev, Jolim, Fraugg, where are we...scan space for our surroundings. Reynolds, send out probes once we come to full stop."
"Understood," Jason said as he got his balance back. He had never experienced a trip like that and he didn't want to again.
"Probes away, telemetry coming in," Jason reported as he tried to keep the probes moving so that they could get as much information as possible. While Jason waited for information to come back he tried in vain to contact Starfleet Headquarters, there was no sign of the Federation anywhere near them.
Jason quickly discovered that there was a planet really near by and was about to report it. When one of the Navigation cadets reported it.
"Mr. Reynolds, initiate scan of that planet. Ms Brelev, cadets....bio-scan...any life down there?
"Scans are being initiated, will take a bit longer to get comprehensive results, the scanners were damaged because of that little trip we took," Jason said trying to compensate for it. "Though the planet is definitely a Minshara class planet."
“There is definite life Commander, sensors malfunctioning at present so no precise readings yet, I’m recalibrating round the interference but something seems to be jamming the programming. If Fraugg and Commander Brelev could assist we could ascertain the origins of the planet without further delay."
"Cadet Jolim, I'm recalibrating my sensors to help you out," Jason said hoping the extra sensors would help them.
Aerial working at a console but could find nothing of any benefit. So she moved back to the Commander to see if the was anything else she could do to help. Pulling out a tricorder she looked over S'reena more carefully this time. Her side was begining to look a little swollen and Aerial looked at the tricorder hoping for answers

Runningwolf: Was just as shocked when the light went out. What the hell is going on here he thought. He accepted the light offered by Kane. Thanks kane I guess I should carry one more often considering whats going. Wolf turned to captin Methos sir do to whats going on maybe we should use our triecoreders to record our conversations and run them through a trueth scanner to see if we are getting real answers. While wolf waited for his instructor to respond he started scanning engineering with his eyes. He was looking for anybody who didn't seem serprised that the lights were out he was looking to see who already had a light and was using it. Since they were common items who ever had one would be the first person he talked to. <Tag Methos>

Thomas looked over at Lt. Shinsei with fear in his eyes not a scared to death fear but a :-[man I'm going to get in trouble look in his eyes. He wasn't sure if the sudden jump to warp was his fault but he really hoped it wasn't.Lt. Shinsei asked the cadets if they were alright, and they both gave the affirmative that they were both shook up but not hurt. The order was given to go to standard orbit, so Tom, glad that he wasn't in the brig already, carefully turned the ship to the Right 180* and then rose the 46* that brought the ship up to the northern hemisphere of the unknown planet. After the ship reached standard orbit he reported, "We are now at standard orbit sir, were travleing at 6000mph." O.O.C. (what did you think he was going to say? )

Methos walked out of Max’s office to see Cadet Kane give a light to Cadet Running Wolf. Methos walked over and Mattimio handed him one.
“Thank you, Cadet. I am sure this will come in handy until the lights come back on,” Methos said.
He heard Running Wolf’s suggestion and frowned. He slowly shook his head as he said, “I really don’t want to do that. But just to be sure we don’t miss anything, go ahead and record your conversations. Both of you do that.”
<Running Wolf and Kane>
Damn, I really didn’t want to have to arrest anyone this voyage. I really hope it is just a mechanical malfunction and not a saboteur, Methos thought. He then hit a bulkhead with the heal of his open hand, drawing looks from the Engineering Staff. He just scowled and turned away. He walked up to the railing surrounding the warp core and leaned on it. He just stood there looking at the core.
What should I do? I don’t want to disappoint these two cadets. I mean, this is my first time teaching brand new Cadets. They should look up to me. I am really confused, he continued thinking. He looked up towards the ceiling, as if to ask for help from someone, which was two decks above him. He thought he saw something, but wasn't sure until he turned his light up. What he saw shocked the *censored* out of him.
Turning to one of the Engineers, he said in a loud over eager tone, “Do you have anything that can get to the top of the core?”

"How is she?" Daya asked as he walked over to the commanders side, "a couple broken bones, thats about all i know"
"Let me take a look" Daya said, looking at the open tricorder, "broken arm, broken ribs, the burning around her eyes will cuase a porlbme for awhile. We need to get her off the ground" looking around, Daya saw the sheet metal he and Cadet Arika had moved earlier. Getting up he moved over to it and looked at it for a moment, then looked around, trying to find something he could use. "Damn, Ok cadets, i'm gonna need your jackets." Daya said taking his jacket off and ripped a few strips from the bottum, finding a couple smaller peices of metal, he gently placced them around the commander's arm, then tied the strips around, creating a makeshift splint. "I hope you guys are watching how i do this, you never know when you might need to yourself."
<tag Cadets>
"Ok, Akira, i need your help to lift her up, Fraugg, when she off the ground, put the sheet metal under her., One......two.......three" With a grunt Daya and Akira lifted Hope's body off the ground, trying not to bend her body at all. Gently setting her down, Daya looked to Akira. "hows the communications coming?" <tag Akira>
"Cadet, gimme a report on all working and non working systems" Daya said, turning towards cadet Fraugg.
<tag Fraugg>
"Ok, stay with the commander, i'll be right back, i'm not going far so dont worry" <Tag Fraugg and Akira>
"Would you prefer to leave the commander alone by herself?" he asked as they both objected. "Good, then do what you can"
<tag Fraugg/Akira>
Grabbed ins rifle, Daya stepped out onto the planets surface, which was much like Earth's plainslands. Grass was abondunt, but weither or not anything was eating it, Daya couldnt tell. Checking the tricorder, he walked away from the shutttle and went to stand on a hill, when he reached the top what he saw took his breath away. Below him was an enormous valley, bigger than the grand canyon, and it was flourishing with plant life, as well as animal life, Looking at his tricorder, he noticed that none of what he saw showed up, "Thats strange" he said as he noticed that a certain minaral found all over the planet.
Looking down the valley, he saw what looked like a village, or city, or colony, or establishment of some sort, whatever you could call it, it was full of "people". Running back to the shuttle, he hurried to tell the cadets the good news, as well as the bad.
OOC also, if you guys have a couple ideas for anything to happen, go ahead and write them down, i'll roll with it, have fun thought

Crystal is a little surprised that one of her cadets is going down to the planet, but she supposes it makes sense, and gives him something to do. And no doubt Cadet Arika can take of himself; Starfleet doesn't let people who couldn't be on training mission, Crystal is sure of that.
She is startled by one of the officers-ops-shouting that the shuttle was going down. Crystal frowns, worried for the people aboard. She shrugs though, and hopes that they will be able to take care of themselves, since she can't do anything to help just now.
"We are now at standard orbit sir, were traveling at 6000mph," Cadet Tagert says.
Crystal nods. “Good job,” she says, observing the orbit he has entered into. Crystal pauses, not sure what she should have Tagert do now. Since the ship isn't going anywhere, it doesn't seem like there is all that much for Navigation to do.
“So basically this is the time when we stand around not doing much,” Crystal remarks quietly to Tagert. “But we have to be sure that we're ready to jump when the Captain tells us to. Usually at this time we might act as a liaison with Engineering, but they seem to have a bunch of security officers down with them, so bothering them and asking for a status report wouldn't be the best idea.”
Crystal thinks quickly, trying to think of something to have him do, but she can't really think of anything just now, so she asks a question that isn't all that related to the present Navigations' work. “What kind of flying experience do you have?” she asks.

Caring was watching the chaos going on all around. At least at first observation, it seemed like chaos but after a quick moment she noticed it was more coordinated than it looked.
Caring stepped up to where Commander Reynolds had spoken from. She walked over to him, and gently corrected him "I must apologize, Commander. I should have used my rank, I'm a bit out of practice. I'm Commander Sorrow, instructing as Counselor. As I do not have a cadet, I would be happy to lend a hand. What would you like me to help with?"
Jason indicated for her to help with launching the probes, while doing so Caring also continued to observe the crew and the cadets. A good counselor always observed with out being noticed that they were observing. At least that is what her great (X4) grandmother always said.
Caring took mental notes, on each cadet and instructor. She wanted to be ready in case any of them started to get nervous, she could step in and offer support. She may be an instructor but she was first an foremost a counselor, and this situation called for a calm voice.
Caring had to be careful not to touch anyone, if she did her telepathy would kick in, not a good thing at this time.
Caring had to admit, the instructors were doing a great job keeping the anxiety level down on their cadets, helping the cadets get through this as well helping the cadets do their jobs.
"Excellent crew!" Caring thought to herself
"Oh, I'm sorry Commander, what did you say?"

Aerial began ripping her jacket into strips and watching Daya closely. She attempted to tie as he did but failed miserably.
Very glad for a different task Aerial moved toward the console she had been working at previously.
"Communications are shot" Typical, she thought. " The power is quickly being drained..." she trailed off, nothing showed why...
"Ok, stay with the commander, i'll be right back, i'm not going far so dont worry"
Don't worry, right. Aerial looked to Akira to see the other cadet's reaction. Her head snapped back to Daya, "But..." She stumbled to say.
"Would you prefer to leave the commander alone by herself?" he asked as they both objected. "Good, then do what you can"
Cadet Fraugg nodded, feeling bad for being so childish. Suck it up. Aerial told herself. She turned around to get to work.
Grabbed ins rifle, Daya stepped out onto the planets surface, which was much like Earth's plainslands. Grass was abondunt, but weither or not anything was eating it, Daya couldnt tell. Aerial had not found a source for the continual loss of power. She wished she had mentioned it before, but the fear of simply missing something obvious had stopped her. This is too dangerous to be afraid of being stupid. When the commander returned she would be sure to tell him - and next time not worrying about it.
"Akira, the power is falling but I can't find the cause, any ideas?" Aerial said with a hopeful look.

S'reena struggled her way back to consciousness and a moan escaped her lips as she did so. Her breathing was shallow and extremely rapid, indicating that the broken ribs had punctured one if not both lungs. Her skin had gone pallid with the loss of blood, and cold sweat was appearing on her brow as an indication of shock.
When she opened her eyes, she feared she had lost sight completely and her fear for her future was increased. Only then did she feel the pressure on her eyes and understood that someone had bandaged them, and was shielding them from further damage.
Once her other senses gradually returned to her, she became increasingly aware of the agony she was in. One arm was beyond use and she felt as if she were on fire. Even the slightest movement on her part, made her feel as though she was being walked over by something heavy.
She was aware of someone sitting beside her, carefully tending to her injuries. By the touch, the Romulan judged the ministrator to be female and only when the person spoke up and voiced a few concerns, did she realize that it was Cadet Fraugg sitting beside her.
"Check....leakage," she managed, her voice barely a whisper. She coughed violently between each word spoken, and a trickle of green blood ran down the corner of her mouth. "EPS...conduits," she continued, reaching blindly for the cadet, wanting the reassurance of someone being present, "tell Akira...you should.....scientific studies." Half of her words were intelligeable because of her constant coughing, and she couldn't be certain if the young woman understood.
Being thrown in the deep without your own instructor present was one thing, being stuck with a navigations cadet, a security chief and a severely injured first officer, who happened to be the only other trained science instructor aboard, besides Commander Brelev, was another thing entirely. "Do your best," S'reena whispered, as she drifted back into unconsciousness.
<Fraugg.......ball's in your court:) take a tricorder, what do you see, register, feel.....wander off a bit.....be creative as you can be:)>

Wolf: Heard something hit the bulkhead and turned to see what had happened he automatically went to a fighting stance. When he saw who it was he let out the breath he had been holding.
wolf over heard the captain's request to the engineer he tried to get a look at the area that had interested the captain. It was to dark to get a good look. Wolf turned to the engineer he had be questioning where's your weapons locker. It over there new the console on the wall.
Wolf walked over to the weapons locker used his override code to open it. He pulled out 3 phasers and made sure they were fully charged. He walked over to cadet Kane and handed him one.
Captain Methos saw something up there about the warp core in the dark. I don't know what it is but I don't want to be caught off guard I also don't like the idea of our captain climbing up there to check it out thats our job in my opion we are more expendable then he his.
Wolf walked over to his captain Sir here you go he handed him a phaser already set to stun. Sir what did you see? While he waited for a response he notice a way to climb up with out being seen. Sir What if I climb up to check it out in my opion its not a good idea for you to do it sir. A Marines job is to protect his ship and the officers over him.
Wolf waited for a response he had hoped he hadn't overstepped his place. <Tag Methos>

Before Drew could leave for main Engineering, he became aware of a degree of commotion coming from the bridge. Starfleet training coming through, he changed his direction almost without thinking, and seconds later was stepping out onto the bridge.
“Report,” he ordered briskly, taking his chair.
“The shuttle’s going down!” Jason Reynolds exclaimed from Ops, “they were struck by something from the nebula, communication is still down, I can’t reach them.”
“Track the shuttles approach,” Drew ordered, “do we know what caused the accident?”
“Not yet,” Brelev replied, “Cadet Tobius is analysing the sensor readings now.”
Drew glanced over at the science station, where it was true the young Cadet was busying working at her station, a look of total concentration on her face. Nodding approvingly. Drew turned his attention back to the safety of the ship.
“Helm, take us out of orbit, and move us a safe distance away from the nebula,” he said calmly, knowing full well he was leaving the away team behind, “we don’t want to be hit by the same thing.”
Again, Drew watched as the Cadet assigned to the helm – Thomas Tagert began working the complicated controls before him. At this exact moment, Drew knew that the science and navigation operators would be working together, relaying important information for the safety of the ship.
Drew glanced up at the Cadet who had been assigned to Tactical, a young chap by the name of Jason Rhire, at the moment, there was no instructor standing with the nervous looking Cadet.
Rising from his chair, Drew walked quietly over to the Tactical station.
“Is everything alright?” he asked Cadet Rhire.
“Yes sir,” Rhire replied automatically.
“Good,” Drew said, “I want you to start looking over any sensor readings we took, and see if you can find a way to adapt our shields to counter the nebula.”
“Right away Admiral,” Rhire replied, turning around to get right to work.
Again nodding his head in approval, Drew walked back round towards the command level, watching the view screen as the ship started to move away.
“Admiral,” Reynolds called out again, “Engineering reports the lower decks have lost lighting.”
“Wonderful,” Drew muttered, as he sat back down in his chair, “assign repair teams Commander, see if you can’t transfer some power to Engineering so they can at least see what is going on.”
Bringing up his own console, Drew briefly checked the status reports for the ship. Almost every level seemed to be suffering some kind of problem, thankfully none of which seemed to be troubling the bridge just yet.
“Cadet Tobius,” Drew said briskly, “how are you getting on with that sensor analyses?”
OOC: I think that’s everyone on the bridge covered, Tobius, please feel free to give any reason you like for what is happening with the nebula, perhaps Commander Brelev can help you come up with a good idea?
Cadet Tagert, to keep the ship a safe distant, you will have to be watching your sensors closely, as the nebula could suddenly hit out at us unexpectedly. You will need to be working with Science to try to pinpoint the hot spots and the safe spots. Again, your Instructor will be able to help you come up with some ideas hopefully.
Cadet Rhine, again, working with science, you need to find out if there are ways we can protect the ship.
Cadets Fraugg and Arika, I will for now leave you in the hands of S’reena and Daya, your shuttle has crashed, you will need to all work together for survival. Remember, there are as of yet unknown aliens on the planet, will you encounter them? Will they be friendly?
Cadets Kane and Runningwolf, continue working with Marine Captain Methos, although I would ask that as to make it easier for me, if you would rather to him in posts as “Marine Captain,” rather than as simply Captain. Although my rank is Rear Admiral, people often refer to me as “Captain” or “the Captain” and it makes it easier to understand which Captain you are talking about.

“What kind of flying experience do you have?” Lt. Crystal asked? Tom felt the grin burn across his face like a fuse in the old time cartoon Tom & Jerry, and he felt the stress wash down his body and drain out of his feet, as he replied, thinking of home."Well my dad was a Star Fleet shuttle tech. He would repair the shuttles that Star Fleet had broken, and when he had them fixed, he would take them for a "test drive". Naturally when dad would go outside to work on the old shuttle pod, he'd bought from the Star Fleet surplus auctions, I would want to go with him. And that's were I learned to fly. Dad taught me bearing and heading, and he also let me test drive some of the other crafts he would work on for friends, like the old kelp farmers hydrofoil, and actually a few of the old Racer air skiffs. But mostly planetary ships the shuttle pod was a space ship but i never took it in to space. this is my first time in space flying. The only other time that i have been in space was Z.G. training. "After he was done talking his cheeks turned red as he realized he was rambling.Popcorn Lt.Shinseithen the admiral strode on to the bridge and told all the stations to do there jobs and toms was to get the ship a safe distance from the nebula and the planet. Tom was finding this hard to do with the impulse drive out of commission and the nebula sending out those waves of energy tom decided to turn the ships aft section out away from the planet and then back his self out of orbit from there he asked science cadet, "Excuse me Cadet Tobius but i would appreciate any thing you might have back there that would help me predict the movements of those energy bursts."Tag Tobis "Thanks."was all that Tom could say as he backed the ship out. when the Hanson reached 1,000,000 km. he turned the ship to port and set the view screen to Stern.MMMMMM............................Yellow....................Popcorn........................................ He hears Daya ask for his and Fraugg's jackets and he takes his off and hands it to him. As he watches Daya make a few makeshift casts, he hears his say, "I hope you guys are watching how i do this, you never know when you might need to yourself." He nods to this.
He hears the Leiutenant then say, "Ok, Akira, i need your help to lift her up, Fraugg, when she off the ground, put the sheet metal under her., One......two.......three" At the count of three, him and Daya lifted the injured Commander off of the ground. As they set her down, Daya asks him, "Hows the communications coming?"
He looks at Daya and says, "Not looking so well... I'll see what else I can do." He walks over to the panel to try to fix it up.
As he reached the broken panel, Daya says, "Ok, stay with the commander, i'll be right back, i'm not going far so dont worry" He doesn't say anything, silently objecting but being respectful of Daya's rank, until Daya asks, "Would you prefer to leave the commander alone by herself?"
"No, sir." He goes to work on the communications.
"Good, then do what you can"
He looks at Fraugg as she says, "Akira, the power is falling but I can't find the cause, any ideas?"
He shakes his head and says, "I have no clue..."
He turns back towards the panel to continue to work on it.
OOC: Sorry I didn't post yesterday, my internet disconnected me temporarilly. And also, my characters last name is Arika, not Akira.

"I can tell you what I did, sure. I can't tell you what happend, we havent figured that out yet. I was running late because the new drive specs would not load from the starbase computer without burocratic permission. I had to get hold of several people befor e I could even learn the filename. then it did a voice check and gave it to me. anyway, I took my ship the Sky, to the ship, and piloted it myself- no ship control at all- into a stoage bay. To my knowlevge it hasn't even interfaced at all. I got down here and was asked- ordered more properly- to bring the drive online. I followed the startup routine for the core-finetuned the flow rate and such, and a minute later, we were at warp. I presumed that it had been activated from the bridge, but you've probably noticed I was off on that guess."
Right after Max answered, the lights in engineering went out, and an alarm started blaring. Methos shouted, "What happened? And do you have any wrist lights?"
"I don't know what's happened, but there are wrist and headlights availible. we've been using them to look around at everything we can get to." He dug in his desk and pulled out a headlamp and a wrist light.
"Take whichever you want, I have spares. I ordered my office readied before I even saw the ship." as he spoke, he typed a quick message to the bridge about the lights.
They walked out into engineering. immediatly, a young ensign came up to him.
"Emergency lights are offline sir, and the batteries on the portable lights won't last forever."
"Ensign, did they ever teach you about how redundant ships are? there are lights, but they just arn't too powerful." he pulled a lever in the wall near where they were, and a panel folded back, revealing a glowing panel.
"Chemicals sandwiched between to plates. they last for about a billion years. If you ever board a deserted Starfleet vessel, these are always there. most people forget about them, and they're only in critical places. Just pull the lever. pure mechanical force- it's failsafe."
"And you turn them off by flipping the lever back?"
"As simple as that. I don't usually have to open them except for demonstrations. there's one at each station if you would activate them. I need a laser torch, a deguasser, and an electrical feild inhibitor. I'm going to open those panels."

“"Cadet Jolim, I'm recalibrating my sensors to help you out," Jason said hoping the extra sensors would help them.”
“many thanks commander, all help is greatly appreciated”…despite Commander Reynolds help, her sensors still seemed to be malfunctioning, “there must be some form of energy distortion..something large…but I cant tell where it is or what it is without scanning the area”
She had just finished relaying this when Commander Reynolds shouted "Admiral, the shuttle it’s going down!" Out of instinct more than understanding, Jolim centred all available power from her recalibration to a fluctuation sensor scan, enabling her to track the trajectory of the shuttle,
"Track them!" Admiral Drew ordered, seconded by Commander Reynolds instructing "Commander Brelev, Cadet Jolim track them with your sensor," Jason said," we don't want to loose them."
“already on it Sir” jolim replied. I have a track on their descent, no possible transporter lock…theres too much interference, id estimate that the nebula isn’t friendly Sir…
“they were struck by something from the nebula, communication is still down, I can’t reach them” Commander reynolds exclaimed “Track the shuttles approach,” Drew ordered, “do we know what caused the accident?”
“Not yet,” Brelev replied, “Cadet Tobius is analysing the sensor readings now.” “Cadet Tobius,” Drew said briskly, “how are you getting on with that sensor analyses?”
“as far as I can tell Admiral, it would seem that the Nebula is a defense mechanism, highly sophisticated – infact far more safisticated than anything else around the planet…there are no other planetary defenses and no ships in the immediate area, I have mid range sensors running, from this position I can estimate the landing site of the shuttle to within 500 metres radius. Only problem being is that the Nebula is between us and the correct orbital trajectory”

Brelev resiste the temptationto push her cadet out of the way and get a better look at the scans. 'A defense system?!" she exclaimed. "extrodinary, bad for us yes, but very impressive. Why would a small out of the way, primitive planet like this have something like that?"
"As much as I'd love to theorize at the moment Commander, right now I think it would be best that we find out how to get passed it." Captain Drew intergected.
"Certainly sir, my apologise." Brelev replied. "Cadet, run as many scans as you can and see if there is anything in the database about such anomalies. I'm going to run down to Engineering and see what kind of progress has been made on the sensors. I have a feeling that we've been forgotten."
Cadet Jolim nodded and Brelev headed for the lift.
Engineering was very dark. "Computer raise lights." Brelev orderd.
"We tried that, three times." she heard someone reply, "Have a light." a wrist light rolled across the floor, it's beam illuminating it's path. The Engineers where fussing about, crowded around the light's available.
"Where's Commander Smith?" Brelev asked, fasening the light to her wrist.
"In his office." the crewman replied. Brelev thanked him and headed toward the Chief Engineer's office.
"I was going to ask why no one has botherd to fix the sensors, but now I see that you have enough problems of your own." She commented. "Long story short, we sent a shuttle out to the surface of the planet, but some sort of nebula defense system has disables it leaving our away team on the surface and us stuck over here unable to get into transporter range. We need sensors to find out enough info on this nebula to get passed it. I'd send some of my people, but they are not to good with a hypospanner."

Max thought for a minute. "Iwould get you somebody, I fi could. but we're trying to figure out what's wrong on this ship right now... Hiowever, I do know where some operational scanners could be found. On my ship.
Brelev looked around: Max chuckeled.
"not this one Commander. My personal craft. It's small, but it's fully up to date. It's systems are designed not to interface with any other conmpuyter unless specifically ordered to by manual input- and that means a toggle switch."
<Brelev>
"If you want to take it, it won't get shot down. the sheilds she's got are as strong as the defiant's. Don't count on ablative armor though, that's hard to get. In the meantime, I need to pry open a few panels."
Max walked out with tools and a look that would send the desinger of the new drive running into hiding.

With news of Max's ship Brelev felt a wave of relief. "That will be perfect, I'll take my cadet and maybe a few other people with me. Are you needing to come along, I know ou are a little busy, but she is your ship."
<Tag Max Smith>
"Sounds good to me. I'll get a few things and meet everyone in the shuttle bay in half an hour. You have no idea how much this means to everyone." Brelev thanked him one lat time and headed to the Bridge.
The bridge had settled down slightly, most likely because at the moments there was nothing else knew to do. "Good news, Commander Smith is going to lend us his personnal ship untill they can fix the Hanson's sensors. Engineering is in worse shape then up here, they haven't got any lights. Cadet Tobius, I'd like you to come with me. I could use someone else as well, any volenteers?"
<tag anyone interested>
"Alright, get ready to go, we'll leave in twenty minutes. We will be taying close to the hanson, out of the Nebula's range. All we are doing is gathering data." Brelev looked to Captain Drew, realising she did not have the go-ahead from him yet.

Rika replied "I have no clue..." Well that makes two of us, Aerial thought.
She moved to the commander who was looking worse than before. The bruising was beginning to show up and her swelling was becoming even more apparent. Judging by the sounds of her shallow breathing, a punctured lung may not be out of question. At that thought, Commander Hope rustled.
S'reena managed a few words between coughs, "Check....leakage," "EPS...conduits," "tell Akira...you should.....scientific studies." , but then she passed out.
She relayed the message to Arika and began attempting to make the fallen commander more comfortable, hoping that unconsciousness eased her pain. After a few minutes of minor doctoring, Aerial left the commander be. At this point by staying inside the shuttle she was useless. Most all useful engineering knowledge she had was used up.
"I'm going to look around outside. Only directly around the shuttle." Fraugg informed Arika while picking up her tricorder and putting a few other things in a bag.
Fraugg stepped outside into the surrounding greenery. It was reminiscent of the fields she found around her house. ... no cows... She was missing the dumb beasts whether she liked it or not. The tricorder readings went everywhere and she tried to carefully note everything around her. <tag Arika>
OOC: Ah, So sorry for the mishap on name spelling!

"As l;ong as these kids know how to fly something with non-standard configuration. The sky's controls were put where I thought they made sensefor me operating them alone on long flights. flight is in front, engineeringto your right, science and communications to the left. there are auxilary panels , but I don't usually need them Everything is labled, andto tell you the truth, I'm probaly more needed here." he trailed off.
"Sounds good to me. I'll get a few things and meet everyone in the shuttle bay in half an hour. You have no idea how much this means to everyone."
"mor then alright, just bring her back. and I should probalby mention that she's really overpowerd for her size... ease her up to speed. if you don't, you'll get whiplash, even with the head supports!" he commented as Brelev walked away.
He grabbed his tools and went out into main engineering. the main panel. The center of all their problems. He started to unlock it by force.

Crystal doesn't exactly feel comfortable with what is going on. There is a nebula that seems to be attacking them, and she has a cadet with little experience in front of the helm. Not that Crystal would feel any better if she were at the helm-she has confidence in Tagert's ability, it's just that she has problems with the nebula.
Crystal hears Tagert ask Cadet Jolim whether she can help predict where the nebula is going to strike out next, but the cadet doesn't directly answer, instead saying that the nebula seemed to function as a form of defense. Crystal sighs slightly, she doesn't like the idea of it being able to adapt at least partially to their position and changes of heading.
Commander Brelev reappears on the bridge, asking if anyone is willing to volunteer to risk a shuttle in the nebula to repair the Hanson's sensors. Crystal is willing to go along, if necessary, and watches Cadet Tagert to be sure he's able to handle the ship on his own. He adroitly misses being slammed into by a sudden burst from the nebula, and Crystal notices that he is feeling more confident behind the controls
“Do you need a navigator?” Crystal asks, leaving the question broad enough that if needed to pilot the ship she could go along, but if not she probably wouldn't, since Crystal doesn't think she'd be very useful in monitoring sensors. She could monitor the information, probably, but likely not as well as the science officer and her cadet could, nor would Crystal be likely to be able to understand what all the data meant.
Crystal also wonders if they do need one if Cadet Tagert would like to go. Crystal isn't sure she likes that idea all that much, since she has lost a cadet temporarily already, but if he wants it could be good experience, and Crystal can handle the ship. “You wouldn't happen to want to go along?” she asked, quietly, well she waits for Commander Brelev to reply.

After Methos had gotten a lift/elevator that would get him up to the ceiling, he climbed on and touched the controls that would elevate him up to what he had seen. As he got closer, he noticed that it had a blinking light on it. After the lift had stopped, he closely examined the box. It looked to be connected to something through the bulkhead. It also had some sort of control panel on what seemed to be the front. He took out his tricorder and scanned it.
"Commander Smith, It seems that box might be what caused our problems. Do you think that you could get someone up there and take a look at it?" He asked as the lift came back to the deck.

"I'll take a look." Max shouted up. he turned to the lieutenant next to him. "inspect this panel. Figure out if there's anything wrong with the actual drive." The lieutenant nodded, and Max pulled an antigrav repair pad our of the equipment locker, and floated up to where Methos was.
"interesting find Captain. do you recognize the technology at all?"
<Methos>
"The only similar things I can think of areemergency transmitters on starfleet runabouts- large size, self contianed, and small control. Does it's job and noting more. Now waht might it's job be, and how does it do it?"

Wolf: Watched as captian Methos pulled out a box he couldn't tell what it was. While Captain Methos was studying the box wolf started scanning engineering with his eyes looking for anything out of place.
Wolf: Walked over to a nother Engineer and started to ask questions " I was wonder if you could tell who was the last person to be working up there where Captain Methos is right now?" As he waited for a response he was checking the duty logs for repairs to that area to see if anything had been logged.

Drew listened to the startling revelation of Cadet Jolim that the nebula was a defence mechanism, never in all his years in space had he encountered such a phenomenon. As Commander Brelev hurried down to Engineering to find out what happened to the sensors, Drew walked over to the science station.
“A most interesting find Cadet,” Drew said quietly, “are you able to tell yet if this is a natural occurrence, or are we dealing with something artificial?”
The Bajouran woman shook her head apologetically, “until our sensors are back to full strength, I can’t tell.”
Drew let out a disappointed sigh, he had hoped briefly that the answer would have been easy to find.
“Thank you for your work Cadet,” Drew said finally, “let’s hope we get sensors back soon, we could do with some answers.”
Before Jolim could respond, the turoblift doors opened swiftly to admit an excited looking Commander Brelev, who quickly explained the welcomed news about Smith’s shuttle. Within a few minutes, Brelev had outlined her plan to use the shuttle to get boosted sensor results of the nebula.
“Sounds like just the ticket,” Drew said happily, “may I suggest you take Cadet Jolim along? This is her find after all.”
Brelev nodded her agreement, and a replacement science officer quickly hurried over to replace Cadet Jolim, who was now standing nervously next to Brelev.
“Admiral?” Lieutenant Shinsei spoke up, “this could be a good opportunity for Cadet Tagert to test his own piloting skills.”
Tagert looked up eagerly from the helm, clearly wishing to join the away team.
“Very well,” Drew said, walking towards the centre of the bridge, “Cadet Tagert, consider yourself on the team.”
Drew left Brelev to brief the two Cadet’s on the mission, and hailed the investigation team down in Engineering.
“Mr. Methos, please could you and your team report to my ready room, I would like a de-briefing.”
As Drew waited for the Marines to return, he walked up towards Tactical, where Cadet Rhire was still at work.
“Have you made any progress yet with recalibrating our shields Cadet?”
Drew waited patiently for the Cadet’s reply.
OOC:
Jolim and Tagert, please feel free to post hearing the briefing from Brelev/your thoughts on the impending away mission, you may be nervous considering what happened to the last team. If you feel particularly creative, you could even write the start of the away mission.
Cadet Rhine, if you could write replying to my questions, perhaps you have outlined a way to recalibrate the shields? Or maybe you need more information, and will be able to recalibrate the shields once you have the information from the away team?
Cadets Kane and Runningwolf, this your chance to report to Admiral Drew what you think might be happening, offer suggestions/reasons for what has happened to the Hanson. Do you perhaps have some gut feelings on the matter? Perhaps you are even annoyed that Drew pulled you away from the investigation just when you thought you were finding the answers?
Everyone remember, nothing is set in stone, you are free to explore the storyline, and take it in new directions.
