Beu-Pas stood at an engineering console. Beu-Pas, " Computer, list programmers responsible for programming the USS Hanson's Operating System." The Computer complied with Beu-Pas'es command. And a long list suddenly started scrolling across a screen on the console. Beu-Pas looked through the names for a moment before asking. "Do any of these programmers have level ten access?"
The ship's computer didn't answer. Beu-Pas at this started rubbing the bridge of her nose. Reynolds came up to her and asked, "Feeling frustrated by 24th century technology?"
"I do not get frustrated, Commander. If the computer was fully online, I know could find out fast. Who is really responsible for these failers."
Speaking low, "So you don't believe it was Admiral Drew?" Beu-Pas not looking up from the console.
"This is a good sized ship from my stand point view. I understand the logic behind the assumption. But the answer to our mystery, might not be Admiral Drew."
"Keep it down, Beu-Pas!"
"Commander we're the only ones in this room." Reynolds looked around only to find out she was right.
"So if you think, on a guess it wasn't him. Who do you think it was?"
"When source code is written for a computer program. programmers often make comments through out the code. To help others later modify the code. These comments tend to "speak", the way the programmer does. If -."
"Ok ok I get it. You think there could have been another person with Level ten access. But the only way you see it, as my guess is. Finding out who this other person or persons are. And then comparing how they "talk", so you can compare that with source code comments?"
Beu-Pas, "Precisely."

Leaving the bridge in the capable hands of the watch officer, Drew walked into his ready room, and headed straight for his emergency drawer. When he had assumed command of the Hanson a year ago, he had requested that the small silver drawer be installed under his desk, here he made sure to keep a bottle of brandy, and a flask full of fresh tea, just incase.
Unscrewing the flask cap, Drew poured himself out a fair size portion of tea, and let out a deep sigh as he leaned back in his leather chair. Taking a few slips of the precious life giving liquid, he let out a deep satisfying breath. He had needed that.
Now refreshed, he straightened up his uniform, and headed back out onto the bridge. Most of the senior staff were off the bridge with their cadet’s working on trying to restore power to the Hanson. According to the last report Drew had read, the Hanson seemed to be infected with a virus of some kind. It wasn’t unheard of for starship’s to be sabotaged in such a manner, Drew remembered that James Kirk’s Enterprise had been infected with a virus during one of its refit periods.
The other odd occurrence had been the sudden illness of S’reena, it was unlike her to get ill, but something was clearly wrong with her. Given all that she had been through lately, it was probably a result of stress, but still, it troubled Drew.
Tapping his hands along the arm of his chair, Drew decided he couldn’t stand sitting in silence any longer. Opening up his tricorder, he opened a channel to the Engineering and Operations teams.
“What’s our progress?” Drew asked, rubbing his temple as he waited for a response.

Reynolds was a little unsure what to say as Admiral Drew made his request. Beu-Pas just watched and listened for the answer from her commanding officer. To her Admiral Drew being a possible enemy was a gray area to her. She understood the command structure well, and respected it. That's why she had a hard time believing Admiral Drew was at fault for the virus. To how she saw it the Admiral had earned the spot were he was with good reason. Surely some one with that high of a rank couldn't be corrupt. But may be then again she could just be being ignorant to it all. That's why she had to find out who the programmers were. Only some one so skilled in coding to help code an Operating System. Could have programmed that virus she thought.
Reynolds, "Still working on it Admiral, it could be some time." He looked at, Beu-Pas at the end of having said that. Only to catch what could only be guessed at as Vulcan curiosity. It was hard to tell with her if that was true. He'd only been working with her for only a sort time. But she at this point never seemed change face much.

Sarek's calm assurance didn't relieve any tension for Nack. As he was fumbling through the med-kit for the tri-corder again, Admiral Drew stepped out.
"This will be quick Commander." She managed a smile, but it wasn't out of relief. It was more of a desperate attempt to avoid a trip to sickbay.
"Your blood pressure is still high, but within tolerable range..."
"Of course it is high", S'reena thought aloud. "I have half the ship swooning over me."
Nack continued with his examination, but his attention was grabbed by the conversation occurring on the other side of the bridge. A Commander was talking with a Cadet. They were both talking about Admiral Drew possibly being the saboteur. Some days Nack wished his ears didn't hear everything. All he wanted to do was graduate from Starfleet, not be in the middle of a scandal.
"You have an elevated temperature. You seem to be running a fever Commander."
She rolled her eyes. He just stated the obvious. Nack looked to Salek for support, and Salek nodded back toward Commander S'reena as if to say, "Don't worry... just do your job." Nack was getting a bit tired of doing his job with this patient. She probably drank too much Romulan wine, and from it's reputation, deserved the fever. The wine does have quite a blue bite.
Realizing that he was letting her indignation rub off on him, Nack refocused his attention on the tricorder, which just then made a series of beeps indicating its analysis was complete.
"Well, other than the fever, I don't see anything wrong with you, and without main computers being on-line, I don't have the medical database to run your vitals through," Nack said, fumbling with the tricorder to turn it off. S'reena glanced an I-told-you-so look at Commander Shinsei.
Nack removed a hypospray from his kit, and Commander Hope received it without a hint of complaint. Either she had warmed up to the Ferengi, or more likely, she relished the thought of defeating the trip to sickbay
As Nack was gathering the rest of his supplies up, Salek said, "Mr. Nack, is it your opinion that this is an isolated case? Have any other crew members been experiencing this?"
As Nack replied, Admiral Drew walked in, and all ambient talk of conspiracy halted.
"I did give Cadet Ardawan a hypospray of Rexalin... He was complaining of chest pain. I figured it was from his injury on the Hepta."
Admiral Drew called the Engineering and Operations teams for their status.
"What were his vitals?" Salek continued.
"He did have an elevated temperature... But he is under a lot of stress... I just... assumed..., " Nack started to get flustered when he realized he may have made a mistake.
"It's probably nothing, but I suggest re-examining him to determine if there is a correlation between symptoms."
As if he knew what Salek was about to say, he was already in the jeffries tube.
"Mr. Nack, please go to Cadet Ardawan's quarters. It is important we rule this out. I will stay on the bridge."
By the time Salek finished his sentence Nack was already half-way to the next deck. When he reached Ardawan's quarters, he waited for the door signal, and realized it was not working. He resorted to pounding on the door, which eventually opened to a very droopy-eyed cadet.

Drew listened to the report from Operations, and nodded his head in satisfaction. So far everything was going according to plan. He knew of course that suspicion had fell on him when it had been discovered a level ten clearance had been used, he was after all the only person aboard the ship who had clearance at that level and higher. But as had been expected, none of the crew appeared willing to believe that their Captain was corrupt. The plan really was coming together.
Leaning back in his chair, Drew did his best to suppress a growing yawn, he was not sure why, but for the last few hours he had been feeling incredibly tired, and now various parts of his body were starting to ache as well. It could not be due to sleep deprivation, he had been getting plenty of rest recently, but he had to admit to himself that something was up. He knew that really he should let the medical team know, but he had far too much to get done right now to worry about that.
It was just as he was planning the next stage of his mission, when he felt the vibration of the hidden communication device he had inside his uniform tunic. Hiding his surprise, he quickly left the bridge for the privacy of his ready room.
“Drew here,” he said as he pulled out the small device, tapping the silver delta.
“Paul, how are you enjoying being in the dark?” the warm voice of Admiral Karynn McCormick asked over the channel.
“I think the crew are starting to suspect something,” Drew replied, “At this rate, they might resolve everything sooner than we expected.”
“You always were a bad actor,” Karynn retorted, “but I am afraid I need to call time on our little exercise, a situation has developed.”
“Oh?” Drew asked, his tone now turning serious.
“We lost communication with the USS Yorktown a few days ago, there last known location was on the edge of the Toko belt.”
Drew didn’t need the Admiral to explain the fears Starfleet now had for the Yorktown. The Toko belt was a dangerous region of space, filled with various subspace anomalies; many a ship had been lost in the area over the years.
“I know you have only just taken on some Cadets, but the Hanson is the closest active ship we currently have, I am sending you out to find the Yorktown.”
“Understood Admiral,” Drew replied, “I’ll start preparations to move us out.”
“Good,” Karynn replied, “and be careful, I don’t want to have send someone out to find you.”
“You know me Admiral,” Drew joked, “careful is my middle name.”
Ending the transmission, Drew took a deep breath, he wasn’t going to enjoy the next few minutes. Straightening his uniform, he walked back out onto the bridge, which was now considerably more full as more of the senior staff and their cadets had returned to their primary stations.
Not making eye contact with any of them, Drew walked to the centre of the bridge, but didn’t take his chair. Instead he pulled out another device from inside his uniform, and pressed a button.
“Computer, this is Vice Admiral Paul Drew, confirm voice print.”
“Voice print confirmed,” the cool tones of the computer replied. The assembled officers on the bridge all reacted in shock to hear the computer back online.
“Restore the Hanson to full operational status, authorisation Drew Pi Alpha Two-Two-Zero.”
“Operational status restored,” the computer replied, as all around the bridge consoles came back to life, and full lighting was restored to the bridge.
“Admiral?” Jason Reynolds asked, confusion clear in his voice.
“You were all right,” Drew explained, “I did cause the lockdown, this was all a drill.”
Everyone stared at each other opened mouthed, and there was silence on the bridge for a few moments, then Drew spoke again.
“This was meant to go on longer, but an unexpected situation has developed, Starfleet need us to move out.”
Now taking his command chair, Drew keyed in some commands to his console, bringing the rest of the Hanson’s systems online.
“The USS Yorktown has been reported missing near the Toko belt, our job is to find them,” Drew explained, “and let me assure you that this is no drill.”
“Cadet Marsh, please lay in a course for the Toko belt, and engage at warp eight, make sure to familiarise yourself with the various navigational obstacles we are likely to encounter in the region.”
“Cadet Ardawen, call up the specs for the Yorktown, and familiarise yourself with its layout, start running simulations for possible reasons for its disappearance, and develop a rescue plan.”
“Cadet Beu-Pas, could you please ensure that all of the Hanson’s systems have been returned to normal, and clear out any left over virus code.”
“Cadet Sienta start working on modifying our probes to operate in the Toko belt, we also need to find a way to enhance our shielding to better protect ourselves.”
His primary orders given, Drew turned to Counselor Salek, “I would suggest you ready sickbay Counselor,” Drew said, “but also continue to monitor the health of the crew, if we do have an epidemic on our hands I want to be ready.”
Satisfied that his crew were ready, Drew turned to face the forward viewscreen,
“Helm, take us out.”
OOC:
OK, I think I have some explaining to do lol. The lockdown was only intended by S’reena and myself to be a temporary part of the mission, used mainly to help the Cadet’s settle in. When I saw you all hinting that it may be down to Drew, I took my chance to launch the “real” mission plot. I also didn’t think that the lockdown was giving us enough storylines for everyone to be able to take part.
I have made up the Toko belt, my only intention is for it to be an incredibly dangerous region of space, something similar to the Badlands, but worse. You are all free to make up any details you like about it.
Cadets, I have directed my instructions to you in the mission because I would like to see what you are all capable of. Your instructors will of course help and advise you on what to do, but this is a chance for you all to shine.
The medical problems that some crew are experiencing is not a part of the drill, but is real, more people will start to come down with an illness as the mission progresses.
Any questions, please direct them to me through the private message system.

Beu-Pas stood wide eyed at the console she'd been using for the last hour. It wasn't real she thought. It was all some thing Admiral Drew had made up. The man she had refused to believe could do wrong. But in fact he had done nothing wrong. This had all been a training exercise. And now the USS Hanson was about to go into the Toko belt. A quite dangerous place to what she'd been told. It was good that she'd been ordered to check if all the ship's systems were fully up and running again.
This Toko belt, she though, she'd never heard if it before in her life. No Vulcan star charts contained any information on it. Or at least the ones she knew of. Her information on such matters were outdated by over 200 years. Her knowledge of star charts had come from overhearing her peers at the Vulcan science & engineering institute.
Reynolds, "You could smile you know? It was all just some short of training jest the Admiral put us through. Now you don't have to run through the ship's whole OS code looking at the coding comments. Now you have to look for remnants of the virus."
"That's what I'm about to proceed with Commander." She said with out turning on his suggested smile.

Salek was not surprised when Admiral Drew unlocked the computer and when it turned out that he had set up the whole thing as a training exercise. He was a Vulcan and even if he was surprised he would not show it. During the course of his life, Salek had seen many shocking things and witnessed many surprising outcomes. This was most certainly nothing unexpected. However it was commendable that Starfleet still managed to execute some of these training exercises where, nor the cadets nor the crew, knew anything about it. But that was all in the past, he had work to attend to now.
"Naturally Admiral"; Salek responded, "I still am not convinced that the condition which Commander. Hope is currently in is caused simply by stress.", he said, "Therefore I will attempt to determine from the scans collected by cadet Nack if it is a disease and if it is, I will attempt to determine if it is contagious. And will of course inform you of my findings.", Salek said to Drew as he withdrew from the bridge
After a short ride on the turbolift, he arrived in sickbay. The atmosphere was much more illuminated now. The man suffering from exhaustion had woken up and a nurse was performing some scans on him. When she saw him enter she informed him that the man was feeling fine now and Salek agreed he could be discharged now.
After taking care of that problem Salek went into his office and decided to contact cadet Nack.
=/\=Doctor Salek to cadet Nack=/\=
=/\=Nack here, go ahead =/\=
=/\=Cadet, after you finish with your examination of cadet Ardawen, meet me in the bio-chemistry lab, the location of which, I am sure, is already known to you, and if it is not the computer will inform you how to get there.=/\=
=/\=Understood doctor, I will be there as soon as I examine the cadet. Nack out=/\=
After the channel was closed, Salek left his office and informed the nurse to reactivate and test all of the biobeds and to replicate fresh doses of all the compounds which can be administered via the hyposprey. After he did that, he went out of sickbay and proceeded towards the bio-chemical laboratory.

Of course, Mr. Knight," Jason said now putting his attention to his cadet. Jason was happy with his cadet's effort, but he also didn't want him to collapse because of his injuries. " Mr. Ardawen your quarters are on Deck 6." “Thank you sir, Ill be back better then ever”
As Ardawen walked out of the bridge with his bags he took another pain killer, he was not feeling well and it was not only his chest.
He head felt a little light, he was lucky he had taking some herbs with him form home, they where nice and dry and he could make a nice tea and a steam bath of it. He shacked his head. And moved on to the next Jeffreys tube entry.
Crawling to the Jeffreys dizziness hit him, and his chest was killing him, but he had to move on.
He was almost there, just one Deck lower.
As he moved on he was began to sneeze, but there was no time to pay attention to it, the Jeffreys tube was no good place for his chest.
Finally he came to deck 6, feeling really ill, he moved on to his quarters.
With some trouble he pushed his door open, to his relive he saw that he did not need to share this quarters.
He was glad, water and cooking gear weren’t computer controlled.
Quickly he got to work, he began to make a lot of hot water, while the water was getting hot he looked for the bag with his herbs and carfully too out the two different herbs he needed.
When the water was hot enough, first took a large barge form his bag where he first crumbled some herbs in an add some water later the healing steam made his way trough the quarters making his eyes a droopy .
When he was sure the steam was moving, he made him some hot tea with the other herbs.
He sat down and with the tea.
“AAA nice almost perfect, the only thing he was missing was”….. out of his pocket he took his handmade flute, and began to play a nice tune. Now it was as good at he could get it, being in the situation he was in.
He, just waned to take a little bid of his tea when he heard someone trying to open his doors, he stud up to help.
The doors slowly opened, it was Nack.
“Mr Ardawen” Nack spoke “I need to take a other look at you again, you might have picked up A fever on the bridge as commander hope just been diagnosed with it to.”
“Ardawen smiled, “Well mister Nack, you may look at me, but you don’t need to I’m sure that it is a fever and I’m working at it my self.
Nack hesitated “but Starfleet regulations indicate that…”
Ardawen did not let him speak “Nack please I know what I’m doing, if I may I have a fever to beat.”
Together with Nack waned to close the doors of his quarters, but al of a sudden they closed by them self’s. Well I see that’s all worked out, now I can put my body to rest not worrying about anything anymore.
He went bag to his chair hopping to get some rest right now.

The peremptory words, "Nack please I know what I’m doing, if I may I have a fever to beat.” from Ardawan enfuriated Nack, but before he could react, he was escorted out the door. The doors shut behind him signifying that power was returned, but Nack was too irritated to notice.
It was at that point that Admiral Drew's came over the intercom to explain the situation. His communique didn't come as a surprise to Nack, but it did create some relief. Everyone already suspected the Admiral, but at least it was just a training exercise and nothing worse.
"Hmm. I wonder if the fever was a ruse too?" Nack thought. "It couldn't be... I read the tri-corder myself."
Salek contacted Nack just then telling him to report to bio-chemistry lab when he was finished with Ardawan. Since Salek still was pursuing the medical investigation, Nack was reassured that this was not related to the training exercise.
"Nack to Admiral Drew"
"Yes Cadet?"
"Ardawan will be delayed a few moments. He needs to be examined for this fever the crew have been experiencing."
"Alright. Tell him to report when he is through."
"Thanks."
Indignant and empowered, a dangerous combination for a Ferengi, Nack stepped towards the door. The door chime went off, but nobody answered.
"Computer: Medical Override: Nack One-Alpha-Seven-Omega." The door opened, and Aradawan jumped up, dropping his flute. He didn't expect Nack to reenter.
"Excuse me Mr. Nack, but the Admiral is expecting me on the bridge."
"That can wait Mr. Ardawan. Unless you want me to have you detained, you are going to be checked out. It's a simple tricorder scan..." Nack was able to speak in a cheerful voice even though his lobes were throbbing with anger. He already had the tricorder out and was scanning Ardawan before the human cadet could let out a complaint.
"See that wasn't so bad. You have a fever also. Let me give you this hypospray, and you can continue with your work." Nack reached for his hypospray, but realized he must have left it on the bridge. With a nervous smile he said,
"uh... heh heh... on second thought... heh .. you can continue drinking your tea... and I'll, uh, find you to give you some medication later."
Nack packed up his stuff and left. Halfway to the turbolift he checked a panel to see where the bio-chemistry lab was. He stepped in the turbolift.
"Deck 5... No. Bridge" He needed to retrieve the hypospray he left behind.
Thankful that the turbolift was working again, Nack walked onto the bridge, found his tricorder, and immediately went back into the turbolift. One of the advantages of being short and fast is that you can slip in and out of places easily.
"Deck 5" The turbolift went a few decks and stopped.
Nack entered the bio-chemistry lab, found Salek, and gave him the results of his examination of Cadet Ardawan.

Beu-Pas had found remnants of the virus, and she had them quickly deleted. She was in her own way pleased with her self for being able to finish the job so fast. Plus the work of getting all of the ships systems back online was now also done. And with out doing any harm to the ship's computer in doing so. The USS Hanson was not a ship she knew it's full specs on. It was good Reynolds, was there to assist her in the work.
Not to waist another moment's thought on this note. "Thank you for helping me in my work, Commander."
"That's what I'm here with you for. But I might not aways be able to be by your side. Beu-Pas, I haven't known you for too long. But you look a little pale, are you feeling ok?"
"I think I'm just feeling a little faint from the work I've been doing. I'm sure once I'm off duty and have had some rest during that time. I'll be feeling better again."
"I'm not so sure that might be the case. "Beu," can I call you, "Beu"?"
"If you feel it is necessary, Commander."
"Beu, go to sick bay and get checked out by cadet Nack, if you have too. I've heard the fever, Hope has is going around." Pausing for one moment, not wanting to say but having it come out any way. "You might be getting sick with it."
Being as prominent as she could in voice, "Commander."
"No butts, Beu, this is important, now go."

ooc: as cadets aren't supposed to get sick from this virus that affects the instructors (and only the instructors!), I'm going to do a little fixing as Michael. Please note the bits in yellow, theyre important...
Michael was just listening to the Ferengi reporting to Salek, about cadet Knight not being well. "But he was injured when he arrived," he piped in, "whatever is affecting S'reena surely can't be affecting him. He probably just overtaxed himself." He gazed from Salek to Nack, and back to Salek. "What IS affecting my wife anyway? She never gets sick just like that. And I'm getting reports from all over the ship that long serving members are feeling sick. None of the new arrivals are showing any sign of illness."
(Nack/Salek)
Then the Vulcan cadet came staggering into sickbay, trying to remain as dignified as possible. While Nack and Salek continued to confer on Ardawen's condition, Michael hurried forward to assist the engineering cadet to a biobed. After scanning Beu-Pas he gave her an encouraging smile. "There is nothing wrong with you cadet. You are just low on electrolytes. I am prescribing you a few salt tablets, a good meal and some rest. You are not ill."
(Beu-Pas)
Michael had been glad power had come back online after it appeared the lockdown had only been a drill initiated by Paul Drew. "Clever," he murmured, after sending Beu-Pas on her way, "very clever indeed." He looked up at Nack and Salek. "Is S'reena still on the bridge?" At their nod, he scowled. "And you let her get away with it?" He shook his head in annoyance. "As long as she doesn't complain about it afterwards right?"
He sighed. "I'm sure Drew will send her down if he feels it necessary to do so. Her being ill really is a rarity, she's never ill." He looked up at Salek. "Surely you know that?"
(Nack/Salek)

Kiara had been puzzled when everything came back online, but as she made her way up to the bridge, she thought about it and realized it would make sense that it was all a drill. Ofcourse they wouldn't want us getting bored waiting for the real thing, she was somewhat frustrated at not being able to find a way to get power back but was now relieved as she entered the bridge she stopped at the Engineering station as the Captain was giving his speech. she looked around and noticed the same puzzled looks on other cadets as he mentioned the Toka belt, she listened to rest of the speech and waited to be dismissed before heading back down to engineering to begin her work.
OOC: i know it's rather short, but i need to do some research before i post more but wanted to let ya know i'm still here.

It was just as she had thought; she needed rest although the salt tablets were some thing she did not fore see. After asking one of her fellow crew members, she found her way to her quarters.
Entering it, she glazed around at her new home for while she was training. "What a sizeable, large place. But still it's not home," with that she went to her replicator built in to the far wall of the quarters.
"Computer," she had to think for a moment what to say. She was new to having this, this replicator. Was it true she thought, what she'd been told about it? That it could replicate nearly any thing she wanted? Time to give that a test ...
"Computer, two salt tablets please?" The computer did as it was told as two salt tablets materialized at the station.
She didn't need them because she'd already been given a few. But that had made for a good test in her mind. After that she ordered a meal and sat down at her new home's table. To what hopefully would be her first good meal since she came on board the ship.

Still sitting in the first officer's seat, S'reena cast a weak smile at Reynolds; she'd been right about her suspicion of Drew having been the cause of the lock-out. She hadn't known this would happen, and it had been as much a surprise to her as to anyone else when Drew confessed it had been a drill.
The Romulan was relieved to have been allowed to stay on the bridge, but she wondered how much longer she could keep up this charade. At the navigations console, Shinsei wasn't faring much better. The woman's hair was plastered to her face and she too seemed to have a hard time concentrating on her job.
S'reena wanted to get up and reassure the human navigator, but couldn't find the strenth to get up from her seat. Instead, she focused her attention on Drew's voice, using it as an anchor to remain attentive. She wanted to walk up to him and chide him for keeping her out of the loop, and for being so foolish to get himself locked in a holodeck.
"Toko," she murmured, glancing up at the fair of cadets that were up on the bridge, "where have I heard this before? Where is it situated? The Yorktown...what vessel is she?" With the last of her strength, she raised herself from her seat and started to cross to the science station. She never made it there, as she collapsed after setting a few paces.
(any1 want to beam her off? and/or answer her question?)

Salek was discussing the current situation with Michael on the view-screen when Nack arrived to report his status. Michael interrupted while Ardawan's condition was being discussed, convincing Salek and Nack that prior injuries were to blame.
"What IS affecting my wife anyway? She never gets sick just like that. And I'm getting reports from all over the ship that long serving members are feeling sick. None of the new arrivals are showing any sign of illness." Michael was concerned about his wife, especially since she doesn't usually get sick like this.
While Nack worked on restocking the used med-kits, thinking how a Ferengi wife would never be in command over a Ferengi husband, Salek explained to Michael that they were working on a solution.
"However, your hypothesis seems premature and therefore, illogical at this point in time. For instance, neither you nor I are currently sick. I suggest we wait until we have more evidence before reaching any conclusions."
Michael seemed satisfied with Salek's logic. He sighed.
"I'm sure Drew will send her down if he feels it necessary to do so. Her being ill really is a rarity, she's never ill." He looked up at Salek. "Surely you know that?" he said rhetorically.
Michael's insecurities rubbed off onto Nack. Michael's attention was pulled away from the view-screen for a moment by a cadet reporting to sickbay. Maybe there was something affecting everyone! Salek didn't seem too worried, but a Vulcan's composure was not necessarily reassuring.
"Nack, when you have finished getting the medical kits ready, come over to the display," Salek said half-pointing to the display in to the side while waiting for Michael to return to his view-screen. "I have some interesting findings to share with you when I'm finished talking to Michael." Nack continued working, occasionally chiming into the conversation the other two were having.
Bored with stocking kits, Nack picked up his pace. When he was done, he rushed over to the display, tripping over the console. Salek had concluded his meeting with Michael.
Rubbing his knee, Nack looked at the screen. Salek had a cross-reference of symptoms from S'reena and Ardawan. "Michael was right, these are not similar. Ardawan has a fever, but Ardawan's synaptic activity is within acceptable parameters, while the Commander's is heightened to almost dangerous levels." Salek hit a sequence of keys and the monitor went blank. "The Rexalin you gave her should have normalized them. Mr. Nack, do you have any suggestions?"
Nack, for the first time since being on board, thought before he spoke. "Should we cross reference the list of contaminants the bio-filters aboard the Hanson have filtered out with those contaminants that would cause an elevated synaptic response?" Salek gave the go ahead and Nack took the controls. He took a few minutes to get used to the control display, but after a few minutes his results were realized.
"The cross reference came up negative, sir." Nack was about to speak again when a voice came over the intercom.
<Tag: whoever beamed Cmdr. Hope to sickbay>
Salek told Nack to keep working, and made his way back to sickbay.
Alone, Nack asked the computer. "Computer, compile a list of toxins or contaminants that can cause the heightened synaptic activity that Commander Hope is experiencing. Display the list on console 2-B in the Bio-Chemistry lab."
Until Nack had any more symptoms or patients, the list would remain long. Nack made his way to sickbay to see if there was any more clues to Commander Hope's condition, and to get some readings from the other ship members that Michael had mentioned.

After Salek finally arrived to sickbay he could see that S'reena was lying on one of the bio beds. She appeared to be unconscious, but upon further examination he determined she was not. She was actually barely conscious.
"Commander Hope, can you hear me", Salek asked while pulling out his tricoder in an attempt to scan her
When he received only a quiet grumble for a response, he proceeded with scanning her with the tricoder. She had tachycardia, but her breading was shallow. Oxygen level in her blood was 92%, even tough it was not at a critical level, it was troubling nonetheless. But he could not find the cause of this situation. Body temperature was high, but she was not cold what one would expect from a fever, she was hot. It was definitely not an out of the book case.
Just as Salek was done with examining her, Nack came in.
"Ah, cadet Nack", he said, "I need you to prepare for me 20 milligrams of metrazene, 5 milligrams of cortolin and 30 milligrams of bicaridine", after he was done with giving orders to cadet Nack, Salek waited for him to prepare the medications
"Now cadet", Salek said, "Inject her with all the medications I just instructed you to prepare, load them into the hyposprey one by one and inject her with it.", Salek said as he stepped back
While cadet Nack was busy with injecting S'reena with the medications he connected her to a life-sign’s monitor located above her head. As the medications were injected one by one he could see her bio sign's normalizing. Her oxygen level in the blood was rising, heart rate dropping and body temperature lowering.
"Good work cadet", Salek said when Nack was done, "Now we need a blood sample so that we can run a culture on it, all of the medications which we applied to the Commander now did nothing but deal with the side-effects of whatever she is suffering from, however we need to cure the cause of the disease in order to actually help her. And in order to do that we need to find the cause of it no matter if it is a bacteria or a virus or a parasite... we must find it", Salek said

OCC: A little backposting:
IC:
Methos was in his quarters when the order came to report to the Hanson. Just as he was approaching the Airlock, the PADD he was carrying beeped. He looked at it to see that he recieved a message from Admiral Drew, stating that he was to remain on the station until further notice. He was glad because he was very tired since the last mission. He also noticed that he was warmer than normal. He went to his quarters to rest until he was told to report to the Hanson.
He woke to a steady beeping from his console. He got up, feeling weaker than when he went to bed, and made his way to the computer. He read the message from the Admiral and then headed straight to the airlock. Once he made it onboard, he said, "Computer, what is the location of Admiral Drew?"
"Admiral Drew is in his ready room," came the response from the computer. Methos made his way to the bridge. Moments later the turbolift doors opened to revel the bridge. He exited the lift and touched the button that would let the Admiral know someone was outside the door.
He heard, "Enter," through the door. He walked in and said, "Major Methos reporting as Ordered, Sir." Then he collasped.

ooc: I'll be distinguishing between bits posted as S'reena, and bits posted as my NPC watch officer Commander Dharma Meri (a very rude and gruffy joined Trill)
S'reena
The Romulan paled visibly as she heard bloodsamples had been drawn; she hated needles even more than she hated sickbay itself. "Is that really necessary?" she managed, as she inched away from Nack, only to find Salek standing on the other side of the bed, quite ready to hold her down if he had to.
And S'reena knew he would do just that, if he had to, and because of his Vulcan strength and her current weak state, he was quite capable of doing it too. She didn't want to fight him, she was too tired to offer her usual arguing and bantering, but she didn't want any bloodsamples drawn either even though she understood it was quite necessary.
At last, Michael approached, motioned Nack aside and quietly whispered to his wife. He ran a hand through her damp hair, a worried look in his eyes. "You'll have to let them do it honey," he spoke quietly, "it's for your own good. Without it, they can't do the tests they need to do to make you well. And you have to get well...the kids need you, especially little Jayvee."
Gazing tiredly up at her husband, S'reena finally nodded and extended her arm to the Ferengi medical cadet, while Michael stepped out of the way. He knew when he was too many and returned back to his own duties. He had heard Doctor Brelev was coming back and he wanted her to come back to an update sickbay.
Dharma Meri
"Where is that engineering cadet," Dharma almost shouted as she entered the bridge, "the one that Romulan was looking after. Can't she do anything right?" She crossed over to the OPS station, glaring at Reynolds. "That Vulcan cadet, where is she?"
"In her quarters," Reynolds answered, somewhat dumbfounded at the Trill's attitude, "resting on doctor's orders."
"I don't care," Dharma replied, already back on her way to the turbolift, "I want to know what that Romulan has taught her so far, if I'm to look after her while she's playing sick again. I doubt she's really sick you know...I bet she's just pretending."
(Reynolds/Drew?)
The Trill watch officer impatiently waited for the turbolift car to come back, then got off at the cadet quarters level, easily locating Beu-Pas' quarters. She stormed in without making her presence known. "I need to know what you've been doing so far, and what your further educational plans are," Dharma demanded, "and I want to know what the Romulan has been teaching you, cause I doubt it'll do you any good."
(Beu-Pas, here's your way back in:))

Don't worry cadet, it's ok you'll take a good rest"
after that was done Ardawen sat down and began to medetate.

Beu-Pas shot up in her bed wide eyed, staring at Dharma who had just entered her quarters. She had just been sleeping, responding how ever not in the way Dharma had wanted. "Could you please repeat your self? I didn't catch all of that, I was just -."
"Resting comfortably, Beu-Pas, you should be ashamed of your self right now. Playing sick to get out of work! I want to know what, Commander Reynolds has been teaching you! Now out of bed pronto!"
As Beu-Pas lifts the covers of her bed and gets out. "I am not playing sick, Meri. I'm in my quarters resting because I was told my electrolyte level was low, by sick bay."
"I asked you a question, cadet! What has Reynolds been teaching you, answer me!"
Standing up, looking at full attention. "He helped me in eliminating the last traces of the virus code."
"And what does he plan to teach you later!"
"He has not told me."
"Then I suggest once your done "resting" you find him and find out! Sleep well cadet!"
Once Dharma Meri left Beu-Pas'es quarters, she slumped down to sitting on her bed. To only a moment later moving off it to find her work uniform.

Commander Brelev MD made her way down the corridors to her regular quarters. She had not planned on being involved in this mission having taken a leave to catch up on a late hibernation cycle and have even arranged for Doctor Salek to cover for her. Now awake had been told the ship was, for some reason, still docked at the station and was invited to come aboard and enjoy the fun in a more relaxed way then she normally had the oppertunity. On top of this she was also still feeling ill. The Station doctor had told her she fell ill while sleeping and that they had managed to treat it. However she was still achy and experianced occasional dizzy spells. To be honest that was the main reason she had come aboard. She'd rather be sick in her own sickbay then on the station.
After dropping off her things in her quarters she changed into her uniform, and then out of it. She has not working, she was here to observe and that was all. she set her uniform back into her suitcase and headed to sickbay. There she was met by an inexpected sight. A ferengi medical cadet tending to a bed-ridden crewmember.
"Hello cadet, is Doctor Salek about?" Sickbay was busy, what was going on? There was at least one cadet and S'reena... S'reena was here, that must mean that her trial went in her favor. Brelev's emotions where rather mixed when it came to the romulan first officer.

"Mam", Nack said as he bowed, not knowing who he was speaking to. The Denobian was not in her normal uniform. "Are you feeling ill also?". The Denobian mentioned her slight fever, but saw Salek before Nack could explain the situation.
Commander Salek was busy attending to a Marine in another section of sickbay who was diagnosed earlier with the same condition. The Ferengi followed the newcomer in tow, running his medical tricorder scans on Brelev as he walked, testing the hypothesis that was forming in his head.
"Excuse me, Commander," Nack said to Salek, "but it appears that you, " Nack gestures toward the Denobian, "have the same condition as the rest of the crew. In fact, most of the senior staff have this condition, yet all of the Cadets have been cleared. That's odd. You seem to have an elevated beta-T-cell count. We haven't seen that yet"
Salek looked as perplexed as his Vulcan nature would allow him to look. The Denobian, who introduced herself as Brelev, replied "That explains the temperature difference... and you must be Nack? I heard you would be the next Cadet medical officer, but my hibernation put Salek in charge. Sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier. I am the CMO on board this ship."
Salek and Nack brought him up to speed. Nack then put forth his observation.
"Commanders, if you notice, none of the Cadets are sick with this fever. Only senior officers so far have reported a sickness with these symptoms. The only discontinuity is that you are not sick," he said, referring to Salek.
"You weren't on the ship for our last mission Commander, were you." Brelev replied.
Salek did not respond, but his silent reflection implied a response in the negative.
"Perhaps we should monitor everyone who was on the previous mission to see if any of their conditions match the nature of this phenomena."
Salek and Brelev agreed. Since S'reena, the natural channel for commanding the crew to sickbay, was out of commission currently, Brelev contacted Admiral Drew. Nack went over to tend to Commander Shinsei, who had just walked into sickbay.
=/\= Brelev to Admiral Drew =/\=.... no response
Nack checked Shinsei's vitals. Once again, same condition as last time.
=/\= Brelev to Admiral Drew, are you there? =/\=.... and again, no response.
Nack gave the same treatment to Commander Shinsei as the others were receiving. He kicked off the same battery of tests.
"Computer, locate Admiral Drew." Brelev had a look of concern now. **Admiral Drew is in the Captain's Ready Room**
<Salek/Brelev decide what to do here>
Commander Shinsei's test came back. It looked the same, but there she had an elevated beta-T-cell count also... This normally was indicative of a parasitic organism within the blood, but Nack's understanding of the bio-filters made him skeptical. Also, why hadn't the other crew members besides Brelev and Shinsei experienced this elevated T-cell count... and Michael Hope, he was on the last mission, and he wasn't sick.
It dawned on Nack. Michael had not even been tested yet.
Nack ran over to Michael, excited to test his theory. Michael was less than amused, assuring the Ferengi he was fine. As Nack tested Michael, he did mention feeling hot during the lockdown. However, he attributed that to environmental systems being offline.
"Well, it appears you currently have elevated cortical impulses, however, they seem to be slowing down. Also, your beta-T-cell count is also high. It's almost as if you had this, this whatever it is, and defeated it."
Michael was less than thrilled to be diagnosed, even though it was more positive than the rest of the patients.
Nack went back to the console at the other end of the room to search for similar instances in other ships' logs. What did these elevated T-cell counts mean? Were they the solution? Nack still didn't know what the problem was! He was determined to prove himself, especially since the official CMO was on board.

OOC:
A little back posting here.
ON:
Finishing his speech, Drew leaned back in his chair and watched as the Hanson jumped into high warp. It would only take the Hanson a couple of hours to reach the Toko belt, which didn’t give them a huge amount of time to get ready for whatever they may encounter.
Looking around the bridge, Drew was pleased to see that the Cadet’s had all appeared to get over the shock of the drill, and were all now busy preparing themselves for the final stages of their Academy training. Once this mission was complete, each of them would make fine officers.
Drew heard S’reena mutter something to herself from her seat next to his, he turned to look at her, and was shocked at how ill she looked. Rather unsteadily, the First Officer pulled herself out of her chair, and slowly started to walk across the bridge, only to collapse a few feet away.
Reacting instantly, Drew was up and out of his chair, rushing over to his Number One, and cheeking her pulse. Relived to find she did have one, he tapped his comm badge ugently.
“Bridge to sickbay, we are beaming Commander Hope down to you now, she has collapsed on the bridge.”
“Understood Admiral,” Salek replied.
“Initiate transport,” Drew ordered, as he stepped back so as not to be caught up in the beam.
Sitting back in his chair, Drew was overcome by a sense of dizziness, rubbing his temple slowly, he keyed in a command to summon Commander Dharma Meri to the bridge to replace S’reena. As usual the loud and unpleasant Trill came boisterously out of the turbolift and became barking her commands, demanding to know this and yet.
“Commander Meri!” Drew bellowed as the Trill waited for the turbolift to take her down to the quarter deck, “kindly keep your opinions to yourself and get the hell off my bridge.”
Meri seemed taken aback for a few moments, unsure what to do, but Drew’s icy glare convinced her it was a good idea to disappear into the turbolift as quickly as possible.
“That women,” Drew cursed, as wiriness started to overcome him, “Commander Reynolds, please assume command, I’ll be in my ready room.”
Slowly pulling himself up from his chair, Drew walked over to his ready room and happily fell into his favourite chair. Ordering a hot drink from the replicator, he felt himself slipping into a deep sleep, one that was interrupted by the sound of his ready room door buzzing.
“Enter,” Drew called out, in a somewhat smaller voice than he had intended.
He was surprised to see that it was Major Methos, the Marine Officer looked even worse than Drew felt, and he had barely spoken a few words before he, like S’reena, collapsed.
“What is going on on this ship!” Drew exclaimed, as he tried to hurry over to Methos, like S’reena he had a pulse, but it seemed weak.
“Drew to bridge, beam Major Methos directly to sickbay, and inform Dr. Salek to expect more patients.”
Watching as Methos was beamed away, Drew found himself back in his large comfortable chair, taking a slip of his tea, he allowed his heavy eyelids to close, and resumed his deep sleep.
“Admiral Drew, please respond!”
Drew woke up with a start at the sound of Brelev’s panicked voice over the intercom.
“Drew here,” he replied rather weakly.
“Admiral, are you ok?” Brelev asked, “We have been trying to contact you.”
“Sorry Commander, I must have fallen asleep,” Drew explained, “speaking of which, shouldn’t you be doing the same thing?”
“My hibernation period is over Admiral,” Brelev explained, “sir, many of the crew seem to be suffering from an unknown illness, Commander Shinisei has now also been admitted to sickbay.”
“Do you have any idea what is causing this Doctor?” Drew asked, still trying to shake his sleepily feeling.
“Not yet sir, we need to run more tests, but I would suggest all crew report to sickbay for examination, starting with the Captain.”
“Point taken Commander,” Drew replied, “I’ll try to get down there when I have a chance.”
“I would highly suggest you come now Admiral,” Brelev answered in a tone that reminded Drew she outranked him in all medical matters.
“Excuse me Doctor, I believe the bridge is calling me,” Drew lied, as he closed the medical channel.
Suddenly the deck shook violently beneath him, causing him to fall to the deck and hit his head hard against his desk. Groaning as he felt the blood starting to run down his face, he slowly managed to pull himself to his feet. Besides the head wound, he could also guess from the position of his left arm that he had broken a few bones.
“Wonderful,” he muttered to himself, as he did his best to walk out onto the bridge.
“Report,” Drew ordered as he walked to the centre of the deck, Commander Reynolds stood from the command chair to greet him, but for a few seconds the Commander said nothing, instead he just stared at Drew.
“Admiral, shouldn’t you go to sickbay?”
“I said report Commander,” Drew barked, falling into his command chair.
“Just as we were approaching the Toko belt we lost our warp field, Engineering are trying to work on the problem, but until they do, we are without warp drive.”
“Any other damage?” Drew asked.
“Engineering also reports we have some hull damage, we were travelling at warp 8 when we lost the field, it was a huge strain on the ship coming out that quickly.”
“Assign repair teams,” Drew ordered, “casualties?”
“Causality reports from all decks, light injuries mostly, but sickbay is going to be busy.”
“Thank you Commander, you may take your station,” Drew replied, now alone on the command level, Drew tried desperately to think of his next course of action. Without warp drive the Hanson would be unable to help the Yorktown, it may even need rescuing itself…
OOC:
Ok, Cadet Sienta and Beu-Pas start working on repairing the damage to the ship, and investigating possible causes for the loss of warp drive. A good starting point would be that something unexpected in the Toko belt has caused it.
Cadet Nack, you should have more than enough work to be getting on with in sickbay.
Cadet Ardawen try and see if you can locate the Yorktown from our current location.

Brelev was displeased, not surprised, but displeased with Admiral Drew's reaction to her invitation. She had yet to meet anyone in a command position who would come to sickbay in any fashion other then kicking and screaming. "You two seem to have things as under control as they can be, however given the circumstances I am taking myself off leave and putting myself back on duty. I'll go fetch Admiral Drew myself, deliver him here, give him the checkup and then change into my duty uniform."
"Do you think he will listen to you better in person?" Nack asked.
"Most likely, there have been times in the last few weeks when I showed my loyalty to him, he owes me this much and seeing me should reinforce that." Brelev replied. "Besides, he will have a harder time ignoring me when I am hovering a...."
The ship gave a violent shake, Brelev stumbled into a nearby biobed her aching body reminding her that she had forgotten about it. As soon as the ship regained stability Salek, Cadet Nack and the rest of the medical team bounded around making sure all the variose patients where alright. "Change of plans, a shake like that means a busy few hours for us. I'm changing into my uniform now and I'll leave Admiral Drew for a later time." Brelev decided as she stood up. What she needed was a biobed of her own, but she was not about to admit that to anyone. The shoemakers childern go barefoot and as a doctor with a sickbay like this Brelev would not allow her own uncomfort get in the way of her work.
"We need to set up some of the standbye cots" Brelev commented, sickbay was already full. Before the order could be followed the doors slid open and the wounded crewmembers where guided in by their comrads. To the eye nothing looked too seriose, a few burns, some nasty looking scraps. So much for a nice mission of observing.

It appeared that Admiral Drew fit the profile of all commanding officers when it came down to reporting to sickbay, but that would have to wait for now. There was enough work in sickbay as it is.
"Cadet Nack", Salek said, "We need to cut down on the number of patients in here.", he added, "Start with the light injuries, patch them up, give them some pain killers if need be and send them out. It is logical that we deal with the minor injuries first as no one who has the unexplained disease is in danger of dying anytime soon, therefore we will be able to do more for them if we are able to concentrate on them.", he said
<Tag Nack>
"Dr. Brelev"; Salek said looking at the Denobulan hanging on to the bio bed, "You were on board the ship during the last mission therefore we will need to examine you. However due to how the sickbay is crowded right now, we need all the help we can get, if you feel you can keep on doing your assignment... I will not prevent you from doing so... for now.", he said, "However, should I determine that you pose a risk to yourself or your patients I will not allow you to proceed.", he said
<Tag Brelev>
After he resolved the issues with Brelev and Nack, Felix proceeded towards the newly transported in patients, the marine and the chief helm officer. He pulled out the tricoder and scanned them. They were suffering from the similar symptoms as Cmdr. Hope, however they did not seem to have a decreased oxygen level in their blood. This was peculiar therefore Salek made a mental note of it before he injected them with the same drugs as S'reena with the exception of the drug to increase the oxygen level in the blood... they did not require it. He also extracted a blood sample from each one of them.
"How do you feel Mr. Methos", Salek asked the marine
<Tag Methos>
After Methos was done speaking, Salek instructed him to remain on the bio bed as he proceeded to Miss. Shinsei.
"How do you feel?", he asked after injecting her with the medications
<Tag Shinsei>
Having finished with the 2 patients, Salek proceeded to find cadet Nack and give him the blood samples he extracted from the duo.
"Cadet Nack", Salek called to the Ferengi cadet who was just done with the last of his patients
"Take these blood samples and along with the one Taken from S'reena proceed to the bio-chemistry laboratory. There you will find one of the bio-chemistry technicians who will assist you with creating a culture of the blood samples and perhaps it will shine some light on what the cause of the disease is", Salek said as he handed the blood samples to cadet Nack
<Tag Nack>
"Doctor Brelev", Salek called as he went towards the denobulan
"I will proceed to the bridge to asses the situation there with so many of the senior staff in sickbay, the mental state of those there might not be what it should right now and a part of my duties as a counselor is to make sure they are fit to perform their duty under these conditions.", he said, "I will also run a scan of Admiral Drew while I am on the bridge and transmit the data to sickbay. Will you be able to take care of the things here?", he asked
