Daya was in the middle of his third plate of food, and trying to finish it before Kirk could eat his second steak, the two were going at it like a pack of wild dogs, chomping ferociously at there food. Daya grabbed his last morsel of food, a mini corn dog, and slammed it into his already full mouth.
Raising his hands up in the air, he bellowed a victorious bellow, and sent food spraying to wards T'Brel and Kirk. He swallowed hard and took a big long drink from his pitcher of soda, having traded in his cup when he started this "contest"
Daya looked up as he saw Lt. Commander McCormick coming to wards the table, now covered with scraps of food. "Hello, cadets, mind if I join you?" She says smiling down at them while trying to juggle all of her food.
" Not at all, if you don't mind Daya eating habits" Kirk said as she sat down, smiling at Daya, who flushed a deep red and picked up some of his food, stuffing it back in his mouth. He wiped off some BBQ sauce from his mouth, his second plate consisted of BBQ ribs, and took another drink from his pitcher. " How are you feeling Ma'am" he asked as he looked at McCormick.

"Well, everyone could a bit better, except for me, I'm always good, unless I'm hungry" He picked up his plates and took them to the bar, then replicated a plate of various deserts. Carrot cake, chocolate pudding, a bowl of ice cream, with whipped cream, peanuts, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup.
He sat back down at his chair, and laughed gently as he saw Kirk and T'Brel staring at his plate with wide eyes, "what? didn't i tell you guys i won an eating contest against the FO of a Klingon bird or prey? i could have sworn i told someone. It was quite the highlight of the day, the rest of the crew hoisted me up in my chair and carried me around the mess hall, and then to the bridge."
Daya laughed once more as the three looked at him, then went back to their own food. "Aw man, good times, good times. well, who wants to face me now?" he said looking at Lt. Commander McCormick with an inquisitorial eye.

T'Brel had never seen anyone eat so much in his life. He could understand seconds or even thirds, but Daya was eating like he had never eaten before. T'Brel was about to say something, but Commander McCormick showed up with a huge plate of food.
"Hello, cadets, mind if I join you?" She says smiling down at them while trying to juggle all of her food.
"Of course you can ma'am," T'Brel said as he stood up to pull out a chair for her. She kindly nodded at T'Brel, which brought a slight smile to his face. For that second while he wasn't paying attention, he heard a big belch coming from Daya's direction and the next second he had food all over his uniform and face. He could tell that Daya was eating some BB&Q.
"That is very unsanitary Daya," T'Brel said. Daya just shrugged it off and continued eating.

T'Brel gave him a look of disgust, but all Daya did was keep on shrugging and kept on eating. That brought the entire group into laughter. When Daya stood up, T'Brel thought that he would go and put away the utensils he had used, but the next second T'Brel knew it Daya had a mountain of desserts on his plate. T'Brel did see that he had a bowl of ice cream and that really peaked his interest.
Before Daya fully sat down, T'Brel quickly swiped the bowl of ice cream from his plate.
"Heeeeeyyy," Daya said with carrot full in his mouth.
"What I'm hungry too," T'Brel said while dangling some ice cream on his spoon. That made Kirk and Commander McCormick burst out laughing. T'Brel just smiled and ate the ice cream.

Kirk looked around at his peers enjoying the energy Daya had brought into the room. From an outsiders point of view this group of people did not have a care in the world, but in reality each one of them had a mountain of stress riding on their backs. At this particular moment not a single one of them knew it was there and that was the way each of them liked it.
Whatever doctor said that laughter was the best medicine was correct in saying. Kirk's spirits were high, and he felt as if he could go back to work and spend the next eight hours plugging away at the OPS station.
Kirk was happy to see Joan McCormick around and in a good mood since her abduction on board the Raptor. Kirk did not want to bring it back up, but he was very curious to know if she had gone to see Dr. Black at all. She did not appear to have anything wrong with her, but there could have been some emotional damage done that the good doctor could have addressed. It was not his place to ask, so he kept quiet about it.
Kirk would place his left fingers on his ocular implant every few moments when he would receive an incoming stray thought from Admiral McCormick. Kirk was also glad nobody at the table knew yet about the actions that had to be taken to save the Admiral's life. He suspected Joan of all would not be very happy at Admiral McCormick's new condition.
Kirk was feeling tired from eating so much, and he felt like he needed a shower more than anything else in the galaxy. He stood up to address his peers,
"I don't know about you, but I want to get a shower. You guys take it easy."
As Kirk walked away a single rib went flying past his ear. Kirk turned around and watched as Daya dove back into his desert. Kirk laughed and said, "You missed Daya, and your supposed to be security."
Stepping onto a turbo lift he ordered the lift to take him to deck six, the location of his quarters. Stepping into his quarters he locked the door behind him. Walking like a zombie he dragged himself into the bedroom, plugged in his ocular regeneration attachment into the wall and attacked it to his ocular implant. He could feel the ships energy starting to surge through him. Laying down on his bed he felt instant comfortable, he was asleep before his head hit the pillow.

S'reena sat up very slowly, with the aid of Michael who continued to hover over her ever since Black had alerted him on his wife waking up. She winced, as all her muscles were still very tender and in the process of healing.
"I've been so worried," Michael said softly, though S'reena thought his voice sounded very funny. When she turned slowly to get a good look at him, she saw his eyes were red-rimmed, and he was looking really haggard.
~he's been crying~ she thought. "As have I," she said, though her voice was barely a whisper, "when you all were transported to the Raptor, I had no idea on how you all were doing, and whether you all would survive. I've been really worried." Then her voice broke. "They wouldn't let me see our children," she sobbed, "I didn't know whether they were alive, or whether they were killed."
Michael sat himself on the edge of the bed and hugged her carefully. "They're in Black's office. The Romulan who saved your life is watching them. He's really quite good with them and they seem to just dote on him." Then he released her gently and eased her back onto the bed. "You must rest now honey, and regain your strength."
S'reena grabbed at his arm. "There's something that I need to tell you, before anyone else does," she whispered, then led his hand to her abdomen. "I'm pregnant. I've been assured that I still am, just before you arrived."
Michael smiled radiantly, tears forming in his eyes. "That's wonderful honey," he said, "and love, there's something you need to know. I never doubted you, never doubted your loyalty to the Federation, and to Starfleet. I was ready to punch anyone who said otherwise."
S'reena frowned. "Am I still suspect?" she asked, "please, send Commander Savali down. I need to know if I still am suspect, or if I am cleared. He also needs to know that any damage that has been done recently to the Hanson, has been of my doing. That is after the Romulans had taken over."
"I will honey," Michael assured her, "you need to rest now. I'll go and fetch him for you." He smiled at her, then left to fetch Commander Savali, and a security cadet, just in case she felt the need to make a statement.
<Savali> <Daya, you're the cadet he fetches, as Nokomis is still on her way questioning the romulans in the brig>

OFF: ok, i could use a litttle action
on:
"That is very unsanitary Daya," T'Brel said. Daya just shrugged it off and continued eating
"and you need to lighten up, you old Vulcon" Daya pointed at him with a spoon of pudding, and then smiled from ear to ear. He was about to sit down, when T'Brel swiped his ice cream "Heeeeeyyy," Daya said with carrot full in his mouth.
"What I'm hungry too," T'Brel said while dangling some ice cream on his spoon. That made Kirk and Commander McCormick burst out laughing. T'Brel just smiled and ate the ice cream.
Daya glared at him for moment, then went back to his food, eating once more. Kirk stood up to leave and spoke to the table "I don't know about you, but I want to get a shower. You guys take it easy."
As Kirk walked away a single rib went flying past his ear. Kirk turned around and watched as Daya dove back into his desert. Kirk laughed and said, "You missed Daya, and your supposed to be security."
"Well, i never said i was any good at friendly fire"
He laughed to himself and finished his plate of food. Micheal Hope came through the door, and look straight at him. "Cadet, i need you to come with to find commadner Savali and come down to sickbay with me"
" Aye sir" Daya stood up, then looked at T'Brel and his plates. " you can clean this up for me, right?" he asked T'Brel, then left before he could any word in.
Hope and Daya went to the commanders quarers, where Hope asked for Savali to come with them to sickbay, Daya nodded at him as they left his room, and went to sickbay.

Felix was just enjoying some quiet time with his daughter when Dr. Hope and Cadet Daya arrived to his quarters and asked him to come with them as Cmdr. Hope wanted to speak to him.
"I'll be right with you", he said as he went to the other room to activate the holo nanny. He gave her a few words of instructions after which he contacted security and asked for two officers to meet him in front of sickbay. He returned to Daya and Michael Hope and the three proceeded down to sickbay.
When they arrived to the entrance they saw two security guards waiting for them. Felix exchanged a few words with them after which they all entered sickbay and went over to Cmdr. Hope who was sitting on the bed.
"So I hear you wanted to speak to me"; he said as he saw her suspiciously eyeing the two guards and the security cadet who were standing nearby
"Well this what I have to say might shock you a bit but this is my stance on the issue", he started, "As far as I am concerned you are cleared of all charges, and your rank and all the benefits and duties that go with it are hereby restored"; he said, "And I will pull some strings in Starfleet Command to get your name cleared of all accusations and charges"; he said, "Starfleet and I are very grateful for the help you provided in stopping the Romulans and this is one deed that will not go without a commendation cmdr."; he said, "Well done", he added and smiled
Felix motioned to the two guards who smiled to go.
"I hope you don't mind my little performance with the guards, this was meant to come as a surprise commander. It is an honor to know that there are some Romulans in the federation who are true and stick to their duties, not all of you are killers, assassins, spies .... It is a privilege to know you cmdr.", Felix said as he extended his hand to her
After S’reena expressed her gratitude and appreciation, Felix left sickbay and was followed by cadet Daya. Moments later the call came, the USS Hanson has arrived to Starbase Conqueror it was all over, finally.
"Well cadet I trust you can't wait to go so I’ll see you on the graduation ceremony."; he added as he and cadet Daya went their separate ways

Post by Karynn McCormick on Aug 30, 2005 6:08:50 GMT
OOC: Sorry this is out of synch, but I've been out of town all weekend and this is my first opportunity to post.
After the Hanson was safely on its way to Conqueror, Karynn retreated to her quarters. She smiled when she found the pallet still lying rumpled on the floor and food crumbs everywhere. She was extremely pleased that none of the children had been physically hurt and found herself thinking about when she might visit them. McCormick never envisioned she’d ever like mothering but it seemed even old Admirals can change their minds.
McCormick passed the next four hours reading the logs from the Raptor and finding out how bravely the cadets and crew had carried out their duties. She was saddened to find several casualties. Solemnly, she recorded personal messages for the families of Noland, Jefferies and Johnson. After recording them, she hung her head and allowed herself a good cry.
She made her way to sickbay and found S’reena. She was sleeping so Karynn asked Dr. Black about her condition and was thrilled to find she’d recover fully. Not wanting to wake her, Karynn started to leave. Suddenly, she was overcome with weakness and stumbled, catching the foot of a nearby biobed to steady herself. Immediately, Black was there, supporting her gently.
“What is it, Admiral?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” Karynn answered. It was then that the meditation techniques failed and the mental wall holding back the thousands of voices deteriorated. She was flooded with a barrage of data, all of it repeating a similar alarm, ‘Regeneration cycle must commence in 2.48 hours’. “I am guessing I need to regenerate,” she stated irritably.
“Ahh, we forgot about that detail,” Black admitted. “You’ll have to remain here while I give you a regeneration node. Any preference as to placement?”
Karynn grimaced. She detested the thoughts of appearing Borg as much as she did being Borg. “Is there any other way?” she pleaded.
“I’m afraid not. Your life was saved by Cadet Kirk, there’s no doubt about that. However, it did come with a certain price. You’ll have to regenerate a couple of hours each day or you’ll die,” the Doctor said flatly. “Once we see how much energy your nanoprobes need, we can adjust the amount of downtime required. Since you have no implants, you should be able to regenerate during your normal sleeping hours.” Black began poking about McCormick, trying to decide where a node might be best placed. “I think here, just above your left wrist should be convenient. You are right-handed, aren’t you?”
“Yes.”
“Good, and I can pull a few tricks to conceal it too.” He patted the biobed Karynn was still leaning against. “Jump up here and I’ll have you hooked up in a few minutes.”
Karynn obeyed the Doctor and indeed the procedure was done in just a few moments. However, she had to remain there for the next 2 hours regenerating. She closed her eyes, noting the slight tingling sensation that began at her new node and then spread throughout her body as her blood carried newly energized nanites to all parts of her body. It was while she was lying there that images began to flash in her brain; images that didn’t belong to her. Finally, she realized that she was seeing Jonathan Kirk’s memories as a drone and it filled her with sorrow. The picture that crept in her mind over and over was one of a small child, a girl no more than 4 or 5 years old. She was frozen with fear and screaming in terror. In the background, you could clearly see another drone assimilating what had to be her mother. But it was the little girl’s face that haunted Kirk as he outstretched his Borg arms and injected his tubules into the terrified child’s neck. The child convulsed and the screaming turned into a sickening gurgle as the tell-tale grey skin tone swathed over her angelic features. The remorse of the act was overwhelming and Karynn experienced the heartbreaking guilt of the former drone.
Karynn awoke startled, nearly falling off the bed. She sat staring for a moment, understanding for the first time the torturous thoughts that remained inside Kirk’s mind.
“All finished?” Black asked her.
“How long?” she questioned back.
“Oh about two and a half hours,” he answered, glancing at the chronometer. “Not bad for your first cycle.”
Impatiently, she jerked the feed from the node and sprung off the bed. “Am I dismissed? I need to talk to someone.”

Even though Karynn hadn't been able to spend much time with the cadets, she felt a certain connection with Ariennye. She was always willing to help and it didn't matter what the circumstances or how she was feeling physically, this girl was constantly making herself available. Karynn admired her tenacity and dedication.
"You are very kind to offer your help, Cadet but it looks to me that you should be worrying about yourself for a change." She patted the young girl's hand and said with sincerity, "I appreciate your offer of help. But, you need to get better before you jump in to save anyone again." She gave Nokomis a friendly shoulder squeeze, smiled at her and left thinking about what a fine officer she would make.
