Cadet Parson righted himself, still stunned at the unanounced transport to engineering. The deep hum of the specialized dilithium swirl chamber warp core and light blue glow filled him with the excitement that had kept his studies steadfast all those years in the academy.
"How's it coming, Cadet?" Bates called out.
Acknowledging the commander the cadet aproached a computer terminal, and began to reasses the issue. He spoke out while working.
"I ran a level 5 diagnostic, but as I thought, the computer didn't register an issue. If it was a damaged EPS conduit though, it would have. A level 4 diagnostic is showing a minor error in power distribution between the main and auxilliary deflector array. Correcting...now."
Parson was pleased with his swift identification and work, and turned back to the Chief to guage his reaction.

There was something distinctive about the aroma of an intrepid class starship. It was organic, alive...titillating. It was no doubt the bio neural circuitry that gave it that sense of life and vitality. He took in another gulp of air and allowed the numerous scents cogitate in his nasil passages...errrghhh.... Vulcan. The unmistakable scent of a vulcan abused his senses. Why was it so many starships had vulcans aboard, oh well at least this was supposed to be a break. He paused at the turbolift, waited for the doors to open and then stepped inside. "Bridge" The lift whirred into life and ejected him on to the wide bridge, a bridge that was remarkably busy. A number of grey cadet uniforms were dotted around stations whilst in the centre by the Captains seat were a cluster of regular officers. "Ah ha I was wondering when you'd come aboard" Admiral McCormick noted as she noticed his arrival, "Ladies and Gentleman this is Commander Harash-kyat, former Engineering Instructor of the Hepta. I believe you already know First Officer Savali?" Harash-kyat nodded and extended a hand, "Indeed I do" "Good to see you sir" Felix answered grasping the profered hand The grazerite snorted once and then said, "Looks like for this trip I ll be calling you sir." Felix nodded and smiled, had it really been two years since he had been on the Hepta as a cadet himself? "I wasnt aware we were expecting another Engineer?" Dr Black asked politely, Karynn nodded, "I know its a bit irregular but with S'reenas... position I wanted to bring along some staff who I knew. Mr Savali I ve served with before and Harash-kyat here was my Engineer on the Hepta. He's along for the ride really just an extra pair of hands." "Perhaps Mr Kyat..." Felix paused catching the glint in the grazerites eye, "Sorry, perhaps Mr Harash-kyat could attend to our Ops candidate." "I d be happy to" Harash-kyat replied "Happy! Thats a sentiment I m not sure I ve heard you mention before" Karynn laughed "Fatherhood must be agreeing with you. How is Jaril and Jalli-tol" "Jaril is growing fast, still on his mothers milk but we'll wean him on to grass soon. And Jalli-tol... she is pretty much the same." "Did she come with you?" Karynn asked tentativly Harash-kyat shook his head with what almost passed for glee, "Not this time, after her short assignment to the Jefferson she has a mountain of research to sift through and has stayed on Assailant" "Oh good, ... well good that she is well and has lots to do. Right then we can't stand around all day shall we get down to it." Slowly the little knot of officers dispersed to their cadets. "Cadet" Harash-kyat addressed Jonathon Kirk, "It looks as if I will be instructing you. I m normally an engineer but I know more than enough about operations. First off I want you to familiarise yourself with your console and then at your earliest conveinience meet me in the Mess Hall to tell me a little about yourself." "Well actually sir - I ve picked something up in a diagnostic" "I see. let me see" Harash-kyat ran an eye over the console. "Most interesting elevated background radiation and... ah I see. Of course. I think you and I need to visit Deflector Control. Heres your first test, Lead the way."

"I see. let me see" Harash-kyat ran an eye over the console. "Most interesting elevated background radiation and... ah I see. Of course. I think you and I need to visit Deflector Control. Heres your first test, Lead the way."
"Of course sir."
Kirk and Harash-Kyat left the bustling bridge and got onto a nice and quiet turbo lift. Turning around to face the bridge before the doors closed Kirk called out, "Computer, Main Deflector Control."
Jonathan was surprised when the turbo lift started to move with out give the specific deck to travel to.
"Sir, it's going to be good working with you on this mission. I was an engineering student at the Academy during my first 2 years, it was then that the Command part of the ship started to peak my interest as I got closer to being an upper class man. I hope I can learn more than just OPS control from you."
<Harash-kyat>
The turbo lift doors opened and Kirk exited to the right.
"This way Cadet." Harash-Kyat said turning left down the corridor.
Jonathan caught up to Kyat and started to express his concerns with the high levels of background radiation.
"Sir, with the levels of radiation the diagnostic pick up we are going to have problems with our Primary Senor Array."
"Go on Cadet." Kyat said wanting to hear more.
"Well, the radiation will make it hard for us to detect any neutrenal emission coming off of any ships, especially cloaked ships."
Kirk and Kyat walk through the doors to Main Deflector Control. Kyat stands back and motions for Kirk to begin his investigation.
Coming up to the first console in the room Kirk starts another level 4 diagnostic. The results come back moments later. Jonathan has a confused look on his face, he turns to Kyat.
"I don't understand sir, everything down here seems to check out just fine."

Harash-kyat grunted and his nostrils flared, perhaps just once he had been given a cadet with some modicum of respect. "I will try and teach you what I can" he replied gruffly, he was more used to barking at cadets than recieving compliments, "Ops is an interesting position, it requires you to know the whole ship intimatly, your enigneering background will come in very useful"
Harash-kyat leant over and frowned, Jonathon was correct. "Most interesting. I suspected that the strange readings you picked up on the bridge was an increase in power allocation to shields as a result of the radiation. But it seems that power to the deflector shields are normal" "So the power drain is coming from elsewhere?" "So it would seem" "Is it a danger?" Harash-kyat shook his bovine head, "No not at all not at this level, the power bleed is infinitessimal, had you not run a level 4 diagnositic it would have gone unnoticed. It seems you ve uncovered a mystery here and a good chance to test your skills." "So what do we do?" "That is up to you... There are two avenues open to us, go to engineering and try get their help in tracking the flow in the EPS grid to the source or going to Science and using internal sensors to scan for anything anomolous, the choice is yours cadet"

"Very good, I suggest you contact the cadet their and begin work, I will report this to the Captain and FO. It will also give me chance to download your personnel file. I will catch up with you. Dismissed"

As Parson turned around to face him, Bates rolled himself towards the Cadet, in case he needed to check the readouts on his screen. Noah pushed himself up with his arms slightly, and seeing that Parson had indeed corrected the problem, lowered himself back down.
"Good procedure, Cadet. However, you did make one error. You admitted that you knew before you ran the Level 5 Diagnostic that it would show no result. In that case you should have skipped the Level 5 and gone straight to the Level 4. Had we been in Warp and actually needed that Deflector, you would have needed to correct that problem as quickly as possible. If the Warp Core were going critical, you certainly would not have taken the time to do a useless diagnostic. But other than that, you did just fine," he said, letting out a slight smile as to not discourage Parson. "Now, follow me," he said, and starting rolling.
He led Parson over to the Chief Engineer's station, and after a moment, was up level with it. "This is the Chief Engineer's station. Once you've got my job, the majority of your work will be done here. We've got the master consoles for all Engineering systems," he said, waving his arm toward them. "Now Cadet, why are you here?"
The young man had a confused look on his face. "Sir?"
"Tell me about yourself. Why are you in Starfleet? Why did you become an Engineer? And most of all, what do you think it means to be an Engineer?"

"Well sir, frankly, mechanics just always fascinated me. I had a tendency to disassemble household apliances when I was kid. I remeber one time, my parents came home and the replicator was all over the living room floor, hahaha....needless to say after I put it back together, all the drinks came out neon green for about a week. But while that was happening, I remember being fascinated by why they were coming out such a disturbing shade. And while I was busy thinking about it, I also read the repair manuel for that model. By the next week the problem was fixed and the emitters were working with a 12 percent increase in efficiency. From that day on, I always knew that the inner workings of all this amazing technology we use day to day, was what I had real passion for. As for starfleet, it was only natural. Both my parents were officers, and the idea of exploring the galaxy in a giant complex piece of equipment that I was in command of keeping afloat, so to speek...well, it was quite tempting."
Cadet Parson seemed ple4ased with his answer, but a troubling doubt slowly took over his face.
"And the last question, Cadet?" Bates, asked, sitting back in his chair.
"Well sir, to be quite honest...I never really considered it. I suppose a ships engineer is as a ships doctor. The entire function of our mission, of our productivity, of our life...it's a carefully managed path that an engineer must continously walk, observing and correcting. I guess much like a doctor, you have to know your patient as well. It isn't just repairing a broken conduit, it's knowing why the conduit broke, how can that be aleviated, who made the conduit, who repaired it last, and what jefferies tube in, say, an ambassador class ship could I find the same conduit. But in essence, commander; no, I'm not really sure what it means to be an engineer. Isn't it a personal thing, different for each engineer?"
Parson was a little worried at his long winded dialogue, but he waited patiently, hoping he hadn't led the conversation astray, and also highly anticipating the sage words of an experienced engineer.

Kirk stood and thought about it for a second. He then got an idea of what action to take. He turned around and starting punching in a command code that he was given with his orders. It was Cadet code and it would only show him the different stations on board the ship, he could not change anything with in those stations. He looked through the information saved in the engineering station.
"It looks like Cadet Parson corrected a power distribution difference between the main and auxiliary deflector array. That would explain the small power drop in the main deflector. Why wouldn't my station on the bridge tell me that information?"
Jonathan stood back thinking to himself. That Commander today was taken off the bridge for spying, she could have adjusted certain systems while the ship was in dock. This was all speculation he needed to get back to the matter at hand.
"Sir, I am going to head over to Science and use their sensors to see if I can spot anything else. If everything checks out fine then I will proceed to Engineering and double check with them that there is no problems with the EPS grids."
Jonathan did not get a chance to meet any of the Cadets when he boarded the ship. He had no idea on whom to contact, but he did know a way to find out.
"Computer," The computer chimed to life, "Please display the Science Officer and the Science Officers Cadet on this console."
The console screen only displayed Lt. Commander Joan McCormick.
"I take it she does not have a Cadet then."
"Cadet Kirk to Lt. Commander McCormick." Kirk said after pushing on his comm badge.

After Felix ended his short convo about the old days with Admiral McCormick, he noticed Dr. Black approaching them. When he came to the center of the bridge he spoke up to Admiral McCormick and expressed his dissatisfaction about the arrest of Cmdr. S'reena Hope. Instead of letting the dr. bother the admiral who looked she had a difficult enough time to give the order to arrest S'reena, Felix took the lead and replied to the doctor.
"Dr."; he began
"I believe you were here when the admiral said it was the order of Starfleet command. If that is so we can safely presume that they posses some evidence which they do not intend to share with us at this time. Now dr. please go and take your station I believe you have other things to do, and doctor, that's an order.", Felix finished
After Dr. Black left Cmdr. Harash-kyat arrived to the bridge he was the old engineering instructor from the Hepta, and now he was here to take over as ops instructor. After the short explanation of how and why he was there, Harash-kyat went to take over to the ops console where cadet Kirk was running a level 4 diagnostic.
When all stations reported in and the bridge notified that all cadets and instructors came on board, it was time to get underway. Karynn ordered the helm cadet to undock.
"When you have reached the safe distance between the Starbase and the ship prepare to jump to warp. Set coordinates 234-15."; Felix said to helm cadet T'Brel who with the aide of his instructor was piloting the ship
When the cadet informed Felix and Karynn that they were now at the safe distance, the admiral gave the order to jump to warp.
"Warp 5, engage"; Karynn said
And with that the Hanson jumped to warp leaving starbases Conqueror in its wake. After a few minutes past and they were still safely at warp Felix diverted his attention to the CTSO instructor Akleth who was trying to explain to cadet Nokomis how to raise shields.
"Commander Akleth, why don't you take cadet Nokomis with you and go check on Commander S'reena just make sure everything is fine down there", Felix said
<Tag Akleth, Nokomis>
Just as he was finished saying that another cadet appeared on the bridge.
"Cadet Michael Hannides reporting in for CTSO training", he said as he arrived to the bridge
"Looks like you have another one commander"; Felix said to the Klingon
"You can leave him and lt. Arakkis to man the station her eon the bridge while you go and check on the commander", Felix said
<Tag Hannides>
The klingon acknowledged his command and proceed to do as he was ordered meanwhile Felix diverted his attention back to the main viewer.

"Sir, if she's confined to her quarters, what about her children?" Jason asked, concerned for them as well.
"Her husband and children will be quartered elsewhere. Now, report to Sickbay, Doctor. I will not tell you again."
"Yes, sir," he said, and left the Bridge, and headed for Sickbay. This would be hard news to break to Michael, assuming he hadn't heard yet. With a rather somber attitude, Jason entired Sickbay.
Jason found Michael in the Office, apparently entering some data. "Why the long face Jason?" he asked.
Then he hadn't heard yet. "You'd better sit down for this, Michael," he said, gesturing toward a chair at the desk
The Assistant CMO gained a concerned look on his face, but went around the table and sat down. Jason sat down as well. "Michael....S'reena's been arrested." Michael's face went from concern to utter shock. "Apparently the charge is espionage. Details were not given either. I tried to protest, but was told by the new First Officer that the orders were from Starfleet Command, and that evidently he didnt know himself. She's been confined to quarters surprisingly, rather than the Brig. When I enquired about your children, I was told you and the children would be quartered elsewhere. If you need it, you and your daughters are welcome stay with me. My quarters are smaller, but I'm sure we can make do," Jason said smiling, trying to put some cheer in the situation, futile as it may be.

Michael was halfway on sitting down when Jason broke the news. He sat down heavily and grimaced as a jolt shot up his spine. "They what?" he managed, his eyes wide with disbelief, "my wife, a spy? But she has no ties in the Empire, she's never been there!"
He stared at the desk bleakly, wondering what they were going to do now. If she was confined to their quarters, it was hardly likely that he and the girls could return home. He smiled wanly as Jason offered his quarters as a place for them to stay. "That is very kind of you Jason," he said mildly, "and I will gladly take your offer. However, first I'm going to demand some answers."
His face a mask of fury, he stalked out of sickbay and onto the bridge, beelining for Admiral McCormick. "Why is Starfleet always picking on my wife?" he demanded loudly, not caring that all eyes were turned on him, "is it because she's Romulan? She's served Starfleet loyally for years, and this is how they repay it."
From the side, Jarod Arakkis surveyed the scene, and found that the assistant CMO was acting irrationally. "Cadet Hannides, please escort the good doctor off the bridge, and back to sickbay," he said, "after that, return to the bridge. Though, have a guard keep an eye on him, we don't want him to cause any more problems."
<Hannides>
~~ Elsewhere ~~
The cloaked Klingon D-7 cruiser was leasurely cutting through space at low warp, slowly approaching the USS Hanson. "What a fine prize, and so close to Romulan space," Subcommander Arrhae tr'Ellian ir'baratan said, pointing at the main screen, "and they have Romulans aboard too. What traitors, turning their backs on their kindred. Though, perhaps they can redeem themselves and join our cause."
Around her, her experienced crew laughed at that. Intelligence had already informed them who exactly was on board, and intelligence had also told them that one of them had defected before, and had helped her kindred. In the end, she had been forced to return to the Federation, or so it was logged.
Arrhae wasn't too sure, she didn't trust defectors any more than she would her own brother. "ETA to the Hanson?" she enquired.
"Four hours at current speed," Nevad t'Kahid i'ramnau reported quickly, "and we'll be ready to spring our trap on them."
"See that you do," Arrhae whispered, "there is no room for mistakes."

"That is correct, Cadet. What exactly it means to be an engineer varies between engineers. The strict dictionary definition of engineer is 'One who operates an engine'. While this is true, this is by no means all it is. Another definition is 'a person who uses scientific knowledge to solve practical problems'. And this starts to approach what it is to be an engineer; its about solving problems. We design things, build things, we fix things, and so much more. Though a carefully managed path, as you said, well not always. One of the keys to being a successful engineer is being able to improvise. You will rarely be working under ideal conditions, and you may not always all the tools you want or need to solve a problem. Hence, you must improvise."
Noah looked down at his chair. "I guess you could I'm the epitome of improvisation. Being stuck in this chair deprives of some of the naturals 'tools' of the human body, so I make do with mechanical assistance. As you saw, I have a transporter to get me around. Though I haven't shown you yet, this chair can raise and lower so that I can reach consoles and stations properly. I noticed from your record that you've graduated from the Academy on Earth. Therefore you already have some idea of what I'm taking about."
Lieutenant Bates came over from the Duty Engineer's station. "Sir, I'm detecting a drag on the ship due to an imbalance in the Warp Field. We should be going at Warp 5. We're on going Warp 4.95. Perhaps this could be a challenge for our Cadet," he said, looking over at Parson.
Noah smiled and nodded. "Excellent idea, Lieutenant. Cadet, time to put that training to use. I want you to diagnose the problem, find a possible solution, then carry it out. Let me know if you need any help," he said, and gestured toward the appropriate station.

After Michael rather angrily stalked off for the Bridge in search of answers, Jason started checking over the medical progress reports, reviewing the latest happenings on the ship.
Behind him, the door to Sickbay opened. He turned when a voice called to him. "Doctor Black?" a female voice said.
Jason turned to find Ensign Natalie Hicks, one of the junior science officers, standing before him. "What can I do for you, Ensign?" he asked.
She walked further into Sickbay. "Doctor, I think I may be pregnant," she said, after a brief silence.
"If you are, you aren't showing yet. Have you been having morning sickness?" She shook her head. "Have you missed your umm..you know.."
"No Doctor, I haven't. The truth is, Eric and I have been trying to get pregnant. As you know, we've been married for several months now, and want a family. I wanted to check whether I was," she admitted.
"Well then, lets check. Come on over here then," he said, indicating the nearest biobed. She sat down, and he said, "Computer, initiate a fetal scan. Hold very still, Ensign."
After a few minutes, results appeared on the screen. Jason nodded to Hicks, and she came over. "So, am I pregnant?" she asked.
"Oh, certainly. The test wouldn't have taken long at all if you hadn't been." He brought up an image. At present, it was just a mass of cells. "Here's your baby. Not very far along, but that's understandable given that the fetus is only a few days old. But nonetheless, congratulations, Ensign," he said, and she beamed.
"I must go tell Eric! Excuse me," she said, and nearly ran out of Sickbay.

Joan was busy trying to track down the cause of her latest glitches with her station, and then she hears someone speaking to her. She looks up to see no one is around and she looks a little confused, then it registers that it is through the commlink someone is talking to her.
"Lt. McCormick here, what's up cadet?" She says wondering why someone is contacting her. Nothing has happened that she has noticed, and then she realizes that one of the FO's is no longer on the bridge. She wonders what happened and what she missed while she was so asorbed in her work. She then notices her computer pal leaps out at her again, and she smiles. He quickly pats several different areas, which show Joan what is wrong. She frowns and wonders who did this. She wants to report it, but thinks she should fix it herself. She is torn on what to do.

She had expected some resistance to the arrest of S'reena but naively had thought the crew of the Hanson would respond more like she had - incredulous but duty bound to carry out the orders of her superiors.
When the order was handed down, Karynn had questioned it, noting that the facts supporting S'reena's alleged spying were incomplete and based largely on hearsay. McCormick was chided by her superior officer for her questions and told to arrest Commander Hope immediately. Somehow, she thought it would have been obvious to the Officers of the Hanson that, though silent, she was doing everything in her power to find out the truth. In the meantime, however, she had to follow proper protocols.
After things had calmed a bit on the bridge, the Admiral excused herself, leaving Savali in charge and headed for Dr. Hope's location. She knew she couldn't tell him anything much, but thought he would appreciate the fact McCormick was working to exonerate his wife.

Cadet Daya made his way to the transporter room of the Conquerer. He had just receiced orders from Commander Savali and he wanted to make it a point not to be late.
When he transported he hurried to the captains quarters and reported in, only to find that he spoke to no one. He made his way to the bridge, and was really surprised to see an old aquitance of his, as admiral rather than captain. He decided it would be best not to mention anything to her until they had time to talk to themselves.
He walked up to the Admiral stood at attention. "Cadet Daya reporting in" he waited for a moment, then added " i am unsure of what my station will be, i was not notified before i received orders to make my way here"

T'Brel hadn't ever expected for what he saw happen. He saw what he felt was his commanding officer get arrested under the charges of espionage. True T'Brel didn't know S'reena Hope very well, but he felt that she wouldn't ever betray what she has worked her life to protect.
There was nothing that he could do, as a matter a fact there wasn't anything anyone could do. Commander Gordon had stopped listening to what the cadets were saying. The other regular Hanson officers had faces of disgust towards the admiral and Commander Savili. T'Brel didn't think they hated the new officers, but they needed to be angry with someone and of course they took it out on the messengers of bad news.
"Sir what are we going to do?" T'Brel asked his instructor. It took Commander Gordon a while to respond he was deep in thought, something that T'Brel of course understood.
"Mr. Peers I don't have any clue," he said as he still pondered about what had just happened.

"Lt. I wonder if you could do me a favor. I ran a Level 4 diagnostic on the ships systems earlier. I found abnormally high levels of background radiation and a slight draw on the ships power. Commander Harash-Kyat and I both suspected it was comming from Main Deflector Control. Once there all systems check out fine and I could no longer deteck the background radiation. I find that very odd. I would like know if you could run another diagnostic from the bridge to see if you get the same results I did earlier."
<Tage Lt. Commander McCormick>
Jonathan was walking and talking now. He told Commander Harash-Kyat that he would double check with Engineering on the power draw issue on the EPS Grid.
Kirk arrived at Main Engineering and walked through the doors. He spotted a man in a wheel chair standing next to a fellow Cadet. Kirk earlier took it upon himself to look up the two gentlemen so he could talk to them by name. As he approached Cadet Parson was already heading off in another direction obviously deep in thought about a possible problem. Kirk stepped up and stood right in front of Commander Bates.
"Commander Bates sir, my name is Cadet Kirk. I observed some strange readings earlier and Commander Harash-Kyat suggested I come down here."
Kirk went over the details of the mornings discoverys and problems that had brought the young Cadet to Main Engineering. Commander Bates appeared to be thinking the problem out in his head as he sat back in his chair.. Kirk did not want to sound to over excited about the problems so he did not mention the ships now shrunken range to deteck neutrenal emissions, besides he is the Cheif Engineer he probably alread knew that based on the problem. Kirk stopped talking and waited for Commander Bates response.

Cadet Parson was comming back from where ever he was when Kirk entered Engineering. He looked confused to the the a Bridge Cadet down in Engineering. If Kirk didn't know better he would have thought the fellow Cadet did not like having a Bridge Cadet down here.
"Cadet Parson, this is Cadet Kirk. He has found something rather interesting." Bates said turning towards Parson.

ariennye left her station to get information that would tell her of espionage was true or not.an who was the one who infact was the one behind espionage could be to sure so she head towards the first officer S'reena quarters seeing that there was two officers guarding her quarters. i am here to see S'reena to ask her some questions i want to see if she is indeed the one behind it or not i would hate for someone to get arrested when she or he is not guilty let me find if infact she is the one behind or not. the guards move knowing this is cadet who may have some type of future in security they nodd respectfully towards the young cadet well cadet best of luck to you. entering in hello first officer S'reena i hope you would not mind answering some of my questions i need to find out if you really the one behind espionage or not an the only way for me to find that out is you an others it will tell who did what or not i don't like idea of someone beging arrested for something did not do so will you help me?

Joan wasn't sure what to tell the cadet. She was having glitches all through her station now, and knew she wouldn't be of any help to him, but she didn't want anyone knowing she had a problem she needed to try and fix. She decides to hide it for now, wanting to fix it on her own.
"Sure, cadet, it might take me a little bit to get that scan completely done though, but I will try to have it done soon." She says hoping to keep to the truth even if only a little bit.

Cadet Parson approached his CO and a new bridge cadet he hadn't met before.
"Cadet Parson, this is Cadet Kirk. He has found something rather interesting." Bates said, looking at the surprised cadet. Cadet Kirk explained the unusual radtion readings, and then Parson filled him in on the issue with the warp dynamics.
"Curious," Parson said, stroking his chin in thought, "I had an issue with the deflector array as well. It seemed like a calibration issue, and I corrected it. It's possible that my alterations caused the dispearance of the radiation...but this warp issue as well...curious."
Cadet Parson spun around to his work station and ran a small test at the computer terminal. "It wasn't gamma or beta radiation...which would seems to rule out a leak of some type...I'm not picking up any excess barion particles either. WIth the warp matrix's eficency down, and cosidering that at thrusting speeds the delfector array was gathering a large quantity of power from the warp engines...I'd surmise that we have some sort of fluctuation in EPS plasma relays. Something causing excess radiation buildup, throwing our delfector out of whack, and effecting the warp field. But what exactly, or how...frankly, I'm not sure."
The befudled Cadet turned to Bates, hoping to see if his assumptions were even correct...but more so, whether his years of experience might have covered a mysterious problem such as this. With what Bates had just told him, starships are rarely running in ideal conditions, and even this relatively calm training mission had a curious quirk that perhaps only hindsight could solve. Bates seemed to be considering something, Kirk as well.

Kirk took a moment to let the information Cadet Parson just gave sink in a moment. By the look on Commander Bates face everything Parson said was logical and true. Kirk felt any doubts about Parson's expertise in the engine room fade away. He definatly was a capable Cadet. Kirk now felt obligated to voice his concern with about the radiation effecting sensor sweeps for cloaked ships. Kirk had over heard they would be traveling close to the Romulan Boarder on this mission and kept that fact in the back of his mind.
"Commander, Cadet," Kirk said pausing to wait for both of their attention to focus on him for the moment, "When I became aware of this unusually high level of radiation I took notice that our ability to search for neutrenal emissions has become very limited. We could have a cloaked ship right off our port side and we would not have the slightest idea it was there unless it flew right infront of our delector array. I know I am only a Cadet, but seeing as our mission is going to take us with in range of the Romular Boarder I think we should advice the Admiral that we should go to yellow alert. Atleast we would have the shield up."

Right as Kirk finnished speaking he remembered Commander Kyat said they should run a full diagnoistic on the EPS Grid.
"Commander Harash-Kyat suggested a full diagnotic on the EPS Grid. He seems to think we might be able to follow the power flow back to the point of origin. Maybe the radiation leak and the power loss go hand in hand."

Kirk felt odd saying that as he and both the two engineers standing in front of him knew he was not a fully trained and qualified engineer. It was like a 20th centuray soccer mom telling an automotive mechanic where to look for possible problems with the family car.
Kirk wanted to report back to Commander Harash-Kyat, but he did not have anymore information than when he left. He just had a feeling that things were not adding up, both the Cheif Engineer and the engineering Cadet did not seem to be narrowing down the problem, Lt. Commander McCormick's response was quick. She did not even give guff about a Cadet sort of giving a Lt. Commander an 'order'. He quickly shrugged it off thinking that today's earlier events on board the bridge has gotten his head going in the wrong direction. This is just a sensor problem, not sabotage.

Just when the admiral announced she would be going to visit Dr. Hope, a young cadet, Daya, came to the bridge to report in.
"Cadet Daya reporting in as ordered admiral", the cadet reported in to Karynn who was about to leave, so Felix took over to give the admiral the chance to go and visit Dr. Hope.
"Step right here, cadet Daya", Felix said
"The admiral has something important to see to", he added
"So, welcome on board cadet. You made it just in time.", Felix said while he was pulling out a report on the cadet from the side console
"So, I see that you'll be training as CTSO.", Felix said to him
<Tag Daya>
"I see", Felix said
"Well feel free to join cadet Hannides who's manning the CTSO station now with lt. Arakkis's help. Your instructor is currently visiting a prisoner with a cadet but he should be back soon. In the meantime you can get acquainted with the station", Felix said
<Tag Daya>
After the cadet got settled in, Felix diverted his view back to the main viewer. Things seemed to be going pretty well so far he thought. Other than the few miner incidents from crewmembers who seemed to think he and the admiral had something to do with the arrest of cmdr. Hope. But to say the truth he had no clue about it. He only found out about it when the admiral came and put her under arrest. But he didn't blame them. If someone who he's been working with for a long time got arrested he'd be pretty angry also. But hopefully it would all clear up soon enough. But there was something else odd, they were supposed to be traveling at warp 5 but something didn't feel right with the vibrations they didn't seem to be like one would usually feel when traveling at warp 5.
Perhaps it is from the stress he thought. He knew that helm was doing what the admiral ordered, and that was traveling at warp 5 but he couldn't get the feeling out of his head.

~~~~~~~I'm going to put responding in 3 posts~~~~~~~~
S'reena had heard voices outside her quarters and rose to her feet to face whoever was coming to visit her. By now, the guards had icily informed her that her family would not be coming home, and that most of her command codes had been revoked, specifically those requesting site to site transport, and access to the replicator. Of course, she could still order food if she needed to, but otherwise she was pretty much restricted in everything.
A young female cadet entered her quarters.
S'reena nodded stoically. Naturally, she did mind because she hadn't even been told what the exact charges were. And here came this cadet who thought to ask questions, when she herself didn't even know the answers.
"Ask away, but I doubt I can be of much help," she said coldly, "I am arrested, but I have not seen any specific charges other than espionage. And who exactly would I have been spying for, I ask you!"
Michael had taken the children to Jason's quarters and had arranged for beds to be put in one of the adjacent rooms. There wasn't much room, but Michael was grateful for jason offering his quarters.
Yarna was whimpering softly, and Michael knew that she sensed something was going on, and that she didn't like what it was. Kahlan too was crying, and clung to her father for comfort.
The humand doctor quietly patted his eldest daughter on her back in an attempt to console her. The three-year old didn't quite understand what was going on, and all she wanted was to see her mother.
"We can't do that just now," Michael said softly, "there are big people who need to talk to mommy for a while and sort a few things out. I'm sure it won't be long now."
He shifted the weight of the two girls on his lap and leaned back, closing his eyes briefly. Only then did he hear the soft chime of the door. "Come!" he called irritably.
He didn't bother sitting up straight, as it would disturb the now sleeping Kahlan; Yarna was still whimpering. The door slid open to reveal the new commanding officer of the Hanson: Admiral Karynn McCormick.
"If you've come to bother me and my family you'd better go admiral," Michael said roughly, "because I'm not going to give you any information on my wife. The accusations are baseless, and ridiculous. Any previous commanding officer of this vessel, as well as fellow crewmembers can vouch for her integrity."
