McCormick sensed the departure of S’reena behind her as she met Arrhae’s steely glare. She was aware the Romulans looked on humans as a weaker race and she was determined that her behavior here would forever change this Romulan’s perception. Throughout Arrhae’s questioning, she hadn’t broken eye contact with her.
“So, Admiral… is that what you want? To see your crewmates systematically terminated beginning with that Engineer?”
“That’s the trouble with you Romulans… you never have understood the value of the mind over the body.” Karynn continued, coolly, “If you should kill Commander Bates, you may well be killing your own chances of survival. You may possess this ship, but you don’t know her.”
Just then, a message displayed for Arrhae. Reading it, she found that somehow the Hanson’s engines were improperly functioning and they would only have a maximum speed of warp three until the problem could be corrected. She slammed her tightened fist on the desk and swore in her native tongue.
“Is anything the matter?” Karynn asked sweetly.
Subcommander Tr'ellian bolted from behind the desk, unsheathing her dagger as she moved toward McCormick, thrusting it wildly at her throat. Karynn didn’t move and the dagger slid harmlessly into the fabric of the chairback. McCormick quickly grabbed Arrhae’s wrist, bending it backward and sending the Subcommander to her knees, wincing in pain. Immediately, the guards who had escorted Karynn to the ready room were upon her, disruptors drawn ready to fire at the slightest signal from their leader. Reluctantly, McCormick released her grip, Arrhae, her eyes flashing with anger, slapped the Admiral viciously across her face. The force of the blow brought a single trickle of blood from the corner of McCormick’s mouth and her left eye began to swell. ‘Definitely, worth the black eye, she thought with great satisfaction.
The Subcommander’s body shook with anger as she shouted, “Take her back to her cell! I will deal with her later.”
She had said the word deal, but McCormick heard it exactly as Arrhae really meant. She would keep Karynn alive only as long as she was useful to her.

"Well sir, this core seems to be in a stand by mode right now only drawing very minimal power. I believe this because life support still has power and the fact that we are losing life support because of the amount of people who are now on board."
"Continue Cadet." Commander Savali instructed.
"I want to try and amplify life supports out put to match the amount of people board the ship. The drawback is that since the engines are still off line we are not producing a constant power source because of a lack of the matter-antimatter combustion in the reactor. So we have a choice to make, put all our resources into two different places, one being life support to extend our 24 hour dead line, and the second down to engineering and give them more power to get the engines back online. The other option would be to evenly distribute power to all the different systems, weapons, cloak, life support, and all other critical systems. Doing the second would give us about another 2 hours of life support where the first option gives us a good, 6-8 hours more, but leaves us still floating in space."
Kirk watched the Commander take in the suggestion. It was a hard suggestion to make because either we sat here and worked on this dead boat or we could at least cloak the ship and have some defenses ready just in case a Romulan on the other side of that boarder wanted to get fresh with us.
It's not like we would last very long if we were attacked. I should have thrown in the idea of putting enough power into the cloak into the first suggestion. to at least put us in a bit better of a position.
Kirk seemed to be weighting the options himself with a disgusted look on his face. He did not like either of the options but that was out of his control. Kirk wanted to will his own personal solution to the problem onto Commander Savali.
Commander Savali took notice of the faces Kirk was making. "Speak up Cadet." Commander Savali Ordered.
"Well sir, I think we should do what I suggested first, but I do suggest that we should allocate enough power to the cloak. I honestly do not like our current defensive situation and I would think that Commander Akleth would agree with me."

Arrhae watched with satisfaction as the human admiral was dragged from the readyroom, nursing a black eye. And she hadn't even begun the interrogation, she had been playing nice so far, and she would continue to do so, albeit in a taunting manner.
The Romulan subcommander sat back in her chair, knowing that it was going to take time extracting the information she needed. Meanwhile she was wondering what was going on in engineerng. Surely, the ship had been damaged in the capture, and it apparently had left spacedock while still undergoing major repairs.
Meanwhile, S'reena had just entered the bridge, just as McCormick was being dragged off again to her cell. "Where are you taking her?" she asked, her tone demanding.
"Back to her cell," the guard replied, "where she belongs."
S'reena shook her head. "She is injured, she'll need treatment. Take her to sickbay, I will be with you shortly."
The guards nodded in response, and continued on their way. A few minutes later, S'reena followed. She avoided looking at the admiral as she approached the older woman. Searching, S'reena finally found the dermal regenerator and held it out to McCormick. "I doubt you will feel anything while I use it," she said, "unless you wish to do it yourself."
When McCormick didn't take the item, S'reena shrugged. "Take it with you," she said, "if you feel like healing yourself later. Guards, take her to guest quarters. She may be a prisoner, but there is hardly a need to keep her uncomfortable. Perhaps a little more comfort will make her more liable to work with us."
The guards nodded and began to drag her away. "And show a little more respect to her rank and station," S'reena snapped after them, "while a valuable prisoner, she is still far above you two in station. Remember that!"

"Cadet, look at the panel from an overall aspect and tell me what you see. Then using what you see could you fly this ship if we had the power to do so?
At that very moment T'Brel did what his instructor said and realized the problem. They were both taking this the wrong way. The problem wasn't as difficult at all.
"Yes, if we had power I could fly this ship," T'Brel said knowing that his statement was true."All we need to do is find out where they cut the power."
"Yes thats it Mr. Peers," Commander Gordon said as he led the way to try and find the answer to their problem. T'Brel and Commander Gordon walked for about ten meters when they came up to another panel.
"Is that one it?" Commander Gordon asked since T'Brel was closer. T'Brel took out his scanner and checked the panel. Unfortuneatly it wasn't it. It seemed that this wasn't going to be as easy as he thought.

Mike looked around the room, trying to find an access hatch. Squinting in the somewhat dark room, he found it hidden behind the warp core. "There it is," he said, and headed over to it.
Reaching it, he took hold of the handle, and pulled on it. But the door didn't move. He placed the other hand on it as well, and tried again, but again nothing. "It appears to be stuck. Help me, Cadet," he said. Parson came over, and together they tried to open it. After a few hardy tugs, it finally opened. Mike's inertia threw him backwards, slamming against the back of the core casing, letting out a small "oof".
"Are you alright, sir?" Parson said, looking back.
Mike stood, nodded tenatively. "I'll be alright," he said standing, but grabbed his side. "Unfortunately that seemed to have aggravated the injury to my side caused by the disruptor. But I think I'll be ok. In we go," he said, and climbed in the hatch. "Excellent," he said, noticing the ladder up. "Up we go," he said as they started up the ladder, wincing slightly at the pain in his side. Climbing up, they reached the service passageway. Crawling along it, he found the panel they were looking for.
Pulling it off, he exposed several controls, including a large manual switch. "Here we are," he said, and moved the switch from its up-position to its down-position. "Go down and see if that did the trick," he said, turning to Parson

----------------------------------In Sickbay-----------------------------------
"Jason!" he heard his name being called. "Jason! Get in here, quick! Human female, approximately twenty-eight, assuming seven months pregnant. Severely injured by an exploding conduit."
Jason looked around the corner. He came took over for Cadet Kirk, who went back to his duties on Michael's instruction. "Over to the surgical bed," Jason said, and they carried her over, her blood flowing from the wound in her side onto their uniforms. Laying her done, he said, "Six-and-a-half months, by the way. This is Crewman Helena Cruz, I just examined her last week, when she transferred aboard." He felt her neck for a pulse. "She's got a pulse, but it's weak."
He layed his ear to her stomach. "The fetus's pulse is alright, but he'll die along with her unless we save her. Help me get the outer layers of her uniform off."
As they loosened her uniform jacket, Michael asked. "He? How do you know for sure if it's a boy?"
"I just examined her last week, remember? It's a boy. She's planning on naming him Jorge." They unfastened her gold shirt, exposing the innermost t-shirt layer. "Forgive me, Crewman," he said to the barely-conscious woman, and ripped side-seam of her shirt starting at the waist, exposing the wound. He laid his head near the wound, listening. "She's bleeding internally as well," he said, and ripped part of the sleeve off his teal shirt, pressing it to the wound. "Hold this," he said to Michael, who took over.
Jason tore his other sleeve, and pressed that cloth against her bleeding head. "If we don't stop this bleeding, she'll bleed to death. But there's nothing I can do about the internal bleeding," he said and sighed, looking down at pained, though nearly vacant, face of Helena Cruz.

After cadet Kirk finished his deposition. Felix took a few moments to think about how to proceed. He did not intend to stick around dead in space for too long but he also didn't want to allocate power on getting the cloak up and running before they had engines and the warp core back on line.
"I appreciate your recommendations cadet but here is what we're going to do.", he said
"You'll get the life support systems fixed and we'll divide the auxiliary power we have between life-support and engineering.", he resumed
"I doubt that those who attacked the Hanson and hi-jacked it will be back to attack us because if they wanted us dead they could have done it back on the Hanson but they instead chose to stun us and dump us here", he continued
"Therefore we will not be getting weapons or the cloak back online. First thing we need to do is get the warp core back online and then we'll activate all the other systems.", he said
"Now cadet, you said you needed something translated so ask away what you don't understand and I'll do my best to help you out", he said

Cadet Parson rushed down the service corridor and back into main engineering. The soft hum of a warp reaction had once again returned to the cramped space. He strode over to a control panel, and began to take readings.
"Damned Kilingon...is that a power output or a power drain..." Parson said aloud. Limping through his very rusty Klingon he took a chance and pressed a series of controls on the console...

~~ On the Raptor ~~ Michael pressed down hard on the bleeding wound, but he didn't dare pressing down too hard. Between the pressing down, he continued to check her pulse. "We're losing her!" he shouted, "if we want to save the baby, we're going to have to take it out before she dies. We can't save her Jason, we should focus on saving the baby." The gynaecologyst looked up at his chief, pleading. "Please, we can still save the baby even if we can't save the mother. At nearly seven months it's viable, please!" The two doctors again checked for pulse and breathing, but found none. Michael looked around to see if he could find anything that resembed a scalpel and wound up grabbing the nearest remotely sharp object he could find. Surprisingly, in a cupboard he found a clean sheet or two. Quickly, he rinsed the knife he had found as much as he could and started to work. An hour later, Michael was holding the baby boy, wrapped in the remaining clean sheet. The baby was crying feebly, and then stopped crying altogether. "No!" Michael cried, placing the baby on the next bed. "No, this is not fair!" There was no way he would be able to save the baby now, not when it was experiencing trouble breathing. "There was intrauterine bleeding, he must've swallowed it accidently." He wrapped the body of the baby in the blanked and slid down the wall, rocking the bundle gently as he stared off in the distance. "This isn't fair," he muttered repeatedly. ~~ On the Hanson ~~ S'reena walked down the corridors of the Hanson, back to the bridge. She had barely stepped onto the bridge when she was thrown against the wall, a blade set on her throat. "Traitor," Arrhae hissed, "will you even betray your kindred? Why is she not back in her cell, where is she!" S'reena remained as still as possible, while still trying to look down on the subcommander. "She is in VIP quarters. If I am to try to gain her trust and have her tell us Starfleet secrets, then it would be a good idea to treat her well and give her a sense of security. And I am going to continue to visit her, make her think that I am on her side." She swallowed as she felt the edge of the blade against her skin, but she was determined not to give this woman the satisfaction of knowing that she was afraid. Arrhae removed the blade from the other woman's throat and glared at her. "And the next thing you tell me is that you're doing the same with that engineer. Very well, you may do so, however there is one thing then that may convince her." Just as S'reena was starting to wonder just what that thing was going to be, she felt a stabbing pain in her left shoulder, and something smashed hard against her temple. She fell down to the deck, grunting. In reflex, she pulled out her own blade, crouching and wincing as she tried to regain her bearings. "Now you can tell her you've been discovered, and that you're hiding from us after you've escaped interrogation." S'reena scrambled back to her feet, rubbing the side of her face. To her relief, she found no broken bones, but it was going to be one beauty of a bruise. She felt her shoulder and her fingers came away wet and green. Glaring at Arrhae, she resheathed her blade. "And just what use am I going to be to you when I'm injured? There is no doctor aboard, and the EMH is damaged." Arrhae shrugged. "Well then you'll have to make sure you'll stay on our side won't you? Now go....or I might take other measures." S'reena nodded, and left the bridge for the admiral's quarters. She roughly shoved the guards aside and entered the quarters without knocking. She was feeling light-headed. "admiral, the dermal regenerator," she managed, then fainted.

If there was one thing Kirk could count on, it was that old technology was not efficient. On board this starship there was bound to be a station for every system on the ship this room was no different.
Scanning the room Kirk did not seem to know where to start. It was not a massive room by any means, the computer core stood right in front of them massive in size when compared to the room in which it sat in. There was one station at the computer core itself but it did not have power. Turning around next to the door there stood two stations on each side of the door then there was just wall that run all the way back to the core.
"Commander, lets start here." Kirk said pointing at the first station on the right hand side of the door.
Walking over to the station Kirk stood in front of the controls, Commander Savali stood to the right of Kirk looking over the controls also. Commander Savali seemed to be reading everything twice to make sure he did not miss anything.
Kirk was reaching for the controls when all of the sudden lights come on over head and the control console in front of the computer core came to life. There began a whining sound coming from the computer core itself as small lights started to flicker and flash. Commander Savali, Harash-Kyat and Kirk all look at one another in shock.
"Magic fingers." Kirk mumbled to himself.
Commander Harash-Kyat went over to the console in front of the core and started to look it over. Commander Savali joined him.
"I am going to go check in at engineering and see what has happened." Kirk said leaving the room.
The two Commanders did not seem to notice the young cadet's words, nor did they notice him leave the room. They were both heavily focused on the console in front of them.

Kirk flew down the ladder into main engineering and saw Cadet Parson looking over a console in front of him.
"Parson I think you guys did it! The computer core is starting to come back online."
<Tag Parson>
Leaving Parson to his work Kirk went back up the ladder and rejoined both of the Commanders who were still working on the console directly in front of him.
Finally starting to get some where with this ship. Kirk thought to himself
"Sirs', It appears that Cadet Parson and Lt. Bates were able to restore the warp field." Kirk said joining the Commanders at the main console. "Lets find the controls for life support and start boosting the output."

Watching Commander Akleth reconnect the coupling I described how Cadet Peers and I were trying to reestablish power to the Navigation console.
"Had the power come back up when it was like that it would have exploded." Akleth said with a note of finality in his gruff Klingon voice.
"I hadn't thought of that, Thank you for your assistance." Was all that I could think to say as Commander Akleth moved back over to help out his cadets.
"Ok, Mr. Peers it looks like you and I need to be more careful with what we try to hook together. This old bird won't allow us the same flexibilities as the Hanson would when it comes to cross-connecting systems and such, I should have thought about that and therefore I take the blame for it."
I said as I walked around the console to input commands to test if our Akleth corrected connection would give us any power.
"Nothing Sir," Cadet Peers reported after we tried multiple inputs.
"Well Mr. Peers it appears that we are still on the hunt for Pow...." I said with my voice trailing off as the main computer systems, lights, and power to the panels started coming on.
"Looks like we found it Cadet." I said with a smile as I pointed Cadet Peers over to the Navigations console to begin checking our navigational status.
"Assess our situation and give a report to Commander Akleth, Mr. Peers." I ordered as I watched Cadet Peers interact with the Navigational console.

"Assess our situation and give a report to Commander Akleth, Mr. Peers." I ordered as I watched Cadet Peers interact with the Navigational console. T'Brel started pressing on all of the controls on the console until something usefuil showed up. Thankfully for T'Brel he didn't have to wait long.
"Commander Akleth, it seems that the ship has been adrift, we are about five light-years away from the Hanson," T'Brel reported.
"Are you sure, Cadet?" Commander Akleth asked. T'Brel rechecked his readings and determined that his readings were correct.
"Yes sir," T'Brel reported. It seemed that the mistake that was done by T'Brel and Commander Gordon had caused Commander AKleth to become distrustful of them.
"Okay good Cadet, I need you to work with engineering to fix the engines and getting us out of here," Akleth ordered.
"Aye sir," T'Brel said as he got up and headed towards engineering.

The two Commanders did not seem to notice the young cadet's words, nor did they notice him leave the room. They were both heavily focused on the console in front of them.
Felix was translating the read-outs that appeared on the console and Harash-kyat just kept nodding while he pressed a button here and there.
When cadet Kirk returned to the core he informed the two men that the warp core has been reinitialized. Well that would explain the power coming back to life Felix thought, but it also meant they would be able to get underway soon.
After cadet Kirk expressed his idea of boosting the life-support systems output, Felix pointed to a console on the nearby wall.
"This regulates the power flow to the life support systems", Felix said
"It now displays an error and indicates artificial gravity failure within 30 minutes and atmosphere depletion within 25 minutes. It would appear that the Romulans sabotaged the system and locked it down. We can’t do anything from here.", Felix said
"Any ideas on how to fix it cadet Kirk. ", Felix asked
<Tag Kirk>
"I see. Well, we’d better find the main life support systems ASAP.", Felix said
He went over to the computer core and typed a few keys which displayed the location of the life-support systems.
"It seems to be located in the passage we would call a Jeffries tube at the junction on the deck bellow this one.", Felix said
"Shall we go", he asked Kirk and Harash-kyat

Harash-kyat snorted an assent and led the trio over to the opening. He pressed a release and the thick metal doors hissed opn, revealing a dark passage that stank more than anywhere else on the ship. "This is just great" he muttered to himself, "Shall we go then?" Harash-kyat nodded and then paused, "Cadet gather what tools there are around, spare wire, odn relays whatever is lying around" he removed his tunic and tied the arms together to form a sling, "Put them in here they will do as a tool box for now. Make sure you leave Parsons enough and have him stand by, we may need him and Bates to talk us through some of the more difficult repairs." "Aye Sir" Kirk replied,

Savali had already entered the tube, "Perhaps sir you could remain at the computer core. From here you should be able to reconfigure the console displays, perhaps to standard human or a binary format all can understand. We can always call if there is a problem."

As Daya was waiting for a response from Commander Akleth, the power came back on. " bout time" He said to himself as dismissed himself and went back to his wires, one of which was continuously shocking him.
Taking a look at the readings on his console, he smiled. "Sir, it appears the cloaking decive is almost operational, i just need to reconnect a few more wires, and fix one of them" the part he said with intent, he would fix that wire if it killed him.
Getting back to work, he continuoulsy looked from his PADD to the wires, reconnecting one here, adjusting another one of the other side. He was almost finished, all that was left was the one wire that kept shocking him.
"Alright you, i will fix you, and you will like it" he said as he reached for the wire, grabbing it and trying to resist the pain of the shock. With a puff of smoke, he was thrown to the floor, and he winced as the power to the ship fluctuated, then came back on. With a cough and a few pats to his chest, Daya smiled, his hair standing up an the smell of burnt fabric around him.
" Got it" he said with a satisifed look on his face. " goood news sir, it seems the cloaking decive is back on line for the moment"

Kirk's brain was strarting to go into rapid fire mode, it just seemed with every new problem there had to be a crafty brand new way of fixing things on this old ship. This idea was however just down and dirty, hands on work.
Kirk stated his idea, "I suggest that since we are locked out here, we need to go down to life supports main system and try to isolate it fromt he rest of the ship. Once we have it completely isolated we would have to phyically cut it off from the main computer to prevent the shut down command from ever getting here."
Kirk grabbed a PADD that was sitting idle at the computer console,
"We could actually hotwire this PADD into the life support system and then we could use it to run life support systems with out the need of the main computer for information, like a stand alone system. We do need to download the pure computer program to control life support into this PADD first."
Kirk looked under the console of the main computer and did not see anything, he then looked around each station and still nothing. He did not understand, how did they get information from the PADD to the main computer with out either a wireless signal, which appeared to be out since his com badge wasn't working, or there needed to be a cable of sorts to plug into the computer. Since Kirk could not find the device he was looking for he slipped the PADD into the cargopocket on the side of his pants.
"Sir, you don't have to ask us twice." Kirk said leading the two men out of the computer room.
Kirk walked back into engineering and noticed the unusal number of tool boxes laying around. There was a tool box on every 3rd station. I guess the Klingon's always needed to fix this ship, what a coincidance. Kirk thought. Cadet Parson was nowhere to be seen. Kirk went over to each of the tool boxes to make sure they all had very similar tools in them, each tool box was almost identical in selection but these were not Klingon tools, they looked more Romulan. Now atleast we have proof Romulans were here. Kirk thought grabbing a cutting tool, a few sodering tools, and more importantly a large wrench, and hammer like tool.
Kirk satisfied with his raid again looked at each tool box and noticed that there was still atleast one of each type of tool still able to be used by the engineers if they needed them.
Kirk approached the two Commanders with the tools, laying them in the sling Commander Harash-Kyat had fashioned.
"Lead on then Cadet, lets test your sense of direction"
Kirk looked down at the bottom of the tube, he knew by the Commander's tone he was making a joke about him turning the wrong way out of the turbo life on the Hanson.
"Not another word or I will assimilate you!" Kirk fired back with a smile on his face.
Commander Harash-Kyat chuckled and replied, "I would still out rank you."
The mood nice and light until Kirk spotted Life Support pipes running across a T intersection comming up in front of them. Kirk came up to the intersection, looking both ways he could not tell where to go, both ways looked identical.
Lets go right. Kirk thought to himself, I am due for some good luck.
The due crawled for a couple of minutes and came to a access door. Pushing the console next to the small access door it opened to reveal a small room, just big enough for two people to work.
"I suppose this it it." Kirk said sliding into the small room.
He reached up and grabbed the tools from Commander Harash-Kyat. Squatting down and moving around the room to let Harash-Kyat slide in. Kirk came across to the backside of the machine, looking down he saw a wrench already on the ground.
"It appears the Romulans were here." Kirk said

T'Brel had reached engineering about thirty minutes ago and it seemed that they could use all the help in the world. The damage was extensive, but that didtn't mater they would get it to work. T'Brel quickly went to work. lucky for him he had worked in engine rooms before so he wasn't at a complete loss.
"Cadet what are you doing here?" a Lt. asked.
"I'm trying to help so I can fly this ship and get us the hell us out of here," T'Brel said a little bit more forceful than he intended. His reponse seemed to answer the Lt. question and so he left him alone. After working about an hour on the engines, T'Brel was glad to report that minimal impulse was back on-line. They weren't going to go anywhere, but they could move.

After Akleth left DJ and T'brel at the nav station minimal power returned to the stations. It seemed that someone somewhere had had some success with repairs.
With all their work the pair at the helm had got their console working. T'brel reported to Akleth and then went off to engineering.
Soon, he heard several small explosions from where Daya was positioned. Akleth arched his back and looked behind the console. There, lying on the floor, was Daya grinning madly, " Got it, good news sir, it seems the cloaking decive is back on line for the moment."
"Good work, cadet. Now the weapons systems." The grin faded from the cadets face but with a sigh he went to the weapons console. Akleth returned to his work inside the disruptor console.

Cadet Parson was working furiously at one of the engineering stations. it seemed that the link between silent running and the cloak was severed, and the ship was running in a low power mode. he boosted flow to the EPS conduits, and power began flooding the ship, which was now rumbling with activity. "They sure didn't build these things for comfort." Parson though, as he contiuned his work.
With the power, warp reaction, and impulse systems back online, Parson joined Lieutenant Bates, who was just now exiting the service corridor. he was clearly in pain. "You alright sir?"
"Nothing to worry about Cadet. What's the status?"
"Well sir, I can't account for the bridge, or our deffensive or life support systems, but power and propulsion seem to be at about 75% efficiency. I'm sure we could do much better, but the flow regulators are completely out of whach, power distribution is shot, eh...I could go on. I'll say one thing, though: Cloak will be utterly worthless if we don't get these engines back in tune. Even a half crippled Romulan scout could pick up our subspace distortions and graviton emittions with these kinds of problems afoot."

----------------------------In Engineering---------------------------
Mike descended the ladder, every step slightly more painful than the next. There was something wrong with his side. He climbed out of the service passage, wincing. "You alright sir?" Parson asked, obviously noticing the wince.
"Nothing to worry about Cadet," he lied, not wanting it to get in the way of his work. "What's the status?"
"Well the flow regulators are the first concern. On one end, we risk the Core not having enough poor to function. On the other end, we have to worry about too much power, causing the Core to overload," he said, walking hesitantly over to the power systems station. "But also we can't get that power to any of the systems without fixing the distribution net."
He reached up to touch one of the controls on the console on the upper half of the station. His side exploded in pain, and he nearly doubled-over, clutching his side. "Lieutenant!" Parson yelled, coming over. "Are you alright, sir?" he asked, supporting him.
Mike lowered himself onto the floor, leaning against the wall. "No Cadet, I'm not. There's something wrong with my side, broken rib or two maybe. But I can't move much. You'll have to do it all, though I'll guide you."
He gasped for breath a couple times, despite the pain it caused. "Start by trying to decipher this power systems station. We've got to figure out these controls before we can start to stabilize it."

--------------------In Sickbay-----------------------
"This isn't fair," Michael Hope said, cradling the child as he huddled with his back against the wall.
"We can't just give up!" Jason said, taking the child from him. He lay the child on the floor, and unfolded the blanket he was wrapped in, exposing the tiny body. He turned the boy's head to the side, and took two fingers and pressed against the child's stomach.
"What are you doing?" Michael asked, coming out of almost trance-like state.
"The Heimlich," Jason said, continuing the effort. He saw blood spill out of the child's mouth, but he still wasn't breathing. "He's not breathing...why isn't he breathing?!"
Michael touched his arm. "All you did was force the blood that he swallowed from his stomach, but theres still blood in his lungs. He's drowned in his own blood. There's nothing we can do for either he, or his mother."
Jason almost collapsed in resignation, pounding the floor. "No...."
"There was nothing you could do, Jason," Michael said, touching the shoulder of his forlorn colleague.
Jason picked up the small lifeless body, and took him over and laid him on the bed next to his equally still mother. Taking a large piece of cloth, he covered them both. "But how many more will I not be able to anything for..." he half-asked, as he covered Cruz's head. "I should inform Commander Savali," he said, and headed for the Bridge.
As he walked, he couldnt get the empty faces of Helena and Jorge Cruz out of his mind. It was the first time he had lost someone, and this time it was two people that had died.
He entered the Bridge, but couldn't find Savali. "Where is Commander Savali?" he asked those present. He was told Engineering, and headed there. When he arrived, he found Bates sitting on the floor, his face pained. "What happened?" Jason asked, crouching down.
"My disruptor wound was aggravated. I was opening that hatch over there, and the momentum slammed me into that Core casing," he said, gesturing to each in turn.
Jason carefully touched Bates' side, which caused Bates to wince again. "Looks like you've cracked a rib. I'll treat it when we get back to Hanson, whenever that is. There's nothing I can do for you here. But anyway, I'm looking for Commander Savali. Where is he?"
Mike gestured towards the service passage, and Jason went that way. Climbing down, he found Savali.
"Sir, I regret to inform you that Crewman Helena Cruz has died due to injury," he managed to say without breaking down. "Unfortunately, we have also lost Jorge Cruz, who died 2 minutes after birth," he said, as a tear streamed down his face.

After sabotaging the Warp drive in one aspect, he went about repairing the other parts he knew about, including the imbalance in the warp field. That it would be much of an issue at Warp 3, but he needed to be able to say he had repaired the system the best he could.
He checked the readouts on the field geometry. There was still a slight imbalance, but he realized it was probably due to power distribution. Checking the systems, he found that the port nacelle was recieving more power than the starboard, which would quite effectively create a field geometry problem. Checking the logs, he discovered that Lieutenant Bates had altered the power flow himself, most likely as a test to Parson. Noah corrected the problem, and the geometry flaw was resolved.
Looking at his Romulan guards, he realized how bored they were. Not a particularly glorifying job was it? Watching over a crippled human, making sure he didn't cause any trouble; must be a rather demeaning assignment.
Noah turned back to his console, and accessed the long-range sensors. The D-7 was adrift several light-years away, but at this distance it was hard to glean much about their condition. Boosting the sensor gain, he found that their power output was relatively low, though the engines were in half-decent shape.
Accessing the communications protocols, he locked-on to a frequency that was usually taken up by engine noise. He transmitted a single, long tone towards the D-7, knowing Lieutenant Bates would recognize it as code for an "I'm alright" message commonly used by Engineers.

OFF: Cadet Nokomis is not on the Hanson, we're just sorting that out now. ON: Akleth had his head in the main body of the disruptor flow console. It seems the Romulans had rather unceremoniously severed almost all the flow conduits and power wires. He was doing his best to reconnect them. "Commander Akleth." The klingon smashed his head forcefully against the lip of the opening. Akleth growled and pushed himself out of the console. The cadet who had suprised him kept talking. "We require you in the main computer core and main engineering. We believe we can get main power back online, and get the engines fired up as well but we need your help in translation. Lt. Bates also suggested your would be a good officer of to have around to help us crack the lock out codes." Akleth was about to reluctantly agree when Savali came over and said he would go in Akleth's place. Akleth was very suprised when the first officer said he spoke klingon. But then again it seemed that human's speaking klingon was no longer as rare as it used to be. "Commander Akleth, you have the bridge." Savali gave a distainful look around before following Kirk out the door. Soon Daya approuched him with a list of words he did not know, " I dont know if any of the systems are operational or not just yet sir, we dont have power to the ship. I do however have a few words I am not fully aware of. This one for instance, i'm not sure if its "coil" or "cord". And this one, i dont think i've seen this one in a few years, i cant make out the last few symbols to it." Akleth pointed to the first one, "Makg means coil." He continued to translate as Daya hurriedly took down definitions, "And this last one is connect." "Thank you, commander." Daya said writing the last one down and then returning to his work. Akleth continued to work as well then heard Daya say something about the lack of power. "We have to leave that up to engineering. But I doubt it'll be anytime soon. Kahless knows starfleets take the complicated route far to often." Then he let out a gruff laugh and returned to his work. He glanced over at the navigation station. Gordon and T'brel seemed to be struggling to repair their station. "Commander Gordon." He said in a deep voice walking over to them. "Yes, Mr. Akleth?" "You and your cadet are attempting to merge two separate systems together. Was that your intention?" T'brel gave him a questioning look, "You have connected the computer information feed from ops into the console control processor. You need to connect it here." He went under the console and pulled the wire out and connected it deeper inside at a different port. "Had the power come back up when it was like that it would have exploded." <TAG: T'brel and Gordon> "Very well." Akleth turned and went toward Daya. "Cadet I want you to concentrate on the cloak and the weapons. Although we don't have power do the best you can. We want to get everything running as soon as possible." Akleth returned to the disruptor console and continued the reconnections. OFF: Cadet nokomis and Hannides- have you found the weapons locker yet? cadet nokomis yes sir an we are on are way with the weapons we just hit the jack pot whatever we need we got an then some i am heading your way sir .

With a heavy sigh, Daya brushed himself off and went to work on the weapons systems. Luckily for him, most of the wires that dealt with the cloaking systems also deal with the weapons. "well , this shouldnt take to long"
Taking up his PADD, he found a few more words that were strange to him, and wrote them down, 'better to have a few words than only one' he thought to himself
Humming a soft tune to himself, hhe connected a few wires, then checked his PADD, all that was left were the words, and fixing the few systems with those words.
"Commander, a few more words for ya to translate for me if you would" Daya said as hhe handed his commander the PADD.

-----------------ON THE HANSON---------------------
From the starkness of the brig to the plush VIP quarters was quite an upgrade. Karynn wasn’t certain this was S’reena’s attempt to inveigle her or a signal that she really was still loyal to her Officer’s Oath.
She found that the replicator was online and ordered herself a hot chocolate. She blew across the surface of the steaming liquid and wandered over to the viewport. By the look of it, they were traveling at approximately warp 3. If the Romulans were indeed taking home the Hanson as their prize, they certainly weren’t in a hurry. She smiled slightly and wondered if Mr. Bates had anything to do with that fact.
She heard the hiss of the door opening and turned to see Commander Hope staggering inside.
“Admiral, the dermal regenerator,” she managed to say before sinking to the floor in a faint.
McCormick went to her, assessing her wounds. S’reena had a nasty bruise forming on her jaw but her faint had definitely been caused by the wound in her shoulder. Karynn tore a piece of fabric from her pants leg and applied it to the wound, pressing on it firmly to stop the bleeding. Several minutes passed before she felt confident enough to release the pressure and fetch the regenerator. Finding it, she gently tore away the portion of uniform around the deep gash, taking care not to disturb the newly coagulated opening that looked to be caused by a knife blade. Activating the regenerator, she closed the skin around the wound. Satisfied that the bleeding was under control, Karynn took pillows and a blanket from the bed and made a pallet on the floor, trying to make her patient as comfortable as possible.
Hours passed before S’reena’s eyes fluttered open.
“Well, glad to have you back with us,” Karynn said and came near to see how she was doing. She’d give her some time to recover before she let loose an avalanche of questions for the Hanson’s former FO.

S'reena bolted upright, startled by the voice. She found herself lying on the floor, covered with a blanket. Her uniform was torn at the shoulder and quick examination showed a recently healed injury. Glancing up, she found Admiral McCormick kneeling beside her.
"Back?" she enquired, still confused. Then memories came flooding back, and she looked away in shame. Slowly, and unsteadily, she got to her feet, and straightened her unifom. "I can't believe she did that," S'reena muttered under her breath, adjusting the sheath of her own blade. To her horror, she saw the handle was green with dried blood.
Carefully, she drew it out, oblivious to McCormick staring at her. "Seemingly with my own blade, now how did she manage that?"
Then she noticed McCormick. "Thank you," she said simply, "I am sure you have many questions. I will answer them, if I can." She waited for a few seconds, but when no questions were forthcoming, she held out the blade for the admiral to inspect, handing it to her hilt first. "What the subcommander did, was to see that you would be convinced that I had been subjected to interrogation, and fled from her. This is not the case, she caught me by surprise when I walked back onto the bridge."
S'reena paused. "I have no reason to lie to you," she added, "you may ask anything and I will answer if I am able to."
~~ Raptor ~~
Michael stood gazing at the two bodies that were hidden beneath the blanket and shook his head sadly. He was extremely worried about his family, and he hoped dearly that he would be re-united with them sooner, rather than later.
He wasn't oblivious to the scrutinizing glances instructors and cadets cast at him. He knew they were whispering behind his back about him, and his Romulan wife. He wouldn't even be surprised if they would start accusing him of being guilty of causing all the trouble they were facing now. However, he believed that his wife was innocent of treachery and espionage. If she was guilty of anything, it would be of doing what was necessary to ensure the survival of the crew and the ship.

"I will see what I can do", Felix said as he left the two to head down to the main life-support systems. He headed back up to Engineering. When he was passing through he found it empty, Bates and cadet Parson must have been in one of the maintenance tubes he thought as he climbed up to the computer core.
Reprogramming the display panels on the ship to display the text in another language would be much easier if i had a tricoder at hand or even a universal translator he thought. Well at least I should be able to alter the engineering systems to show the readouts in binary code as Klingon computers process data in that format and one would expect our engineers to know to read it. He pressed a few keys and accessed the main program. Then he pulled out engineering system displays.
Well so much for that plan Felix thought this old bucket doesn't even have a display configuration option. Well if i delete the binary converter it should convert all readouts on engineering consoles to binary he thought. But it proved harder than he expected, and the file simply would not delete itself. Well so much for that plan he thought.
Then he got a new idea he opened the file and removed a few lines of code and initialized the reload of the file.
--Pat Qagh --
The screen displayed and then marked the conversion file he just modified. Moments later all the displays referring to engineering were transformed into basic binary code. Well if this doesn't help nothing will. This should be... But no, shouldn't the binary code also be klingon he asked himself as he looked it over. Well at least everyone should be able to read it now he thought.
A moment after that Dr. Black arrived. But he wasn't bringing any good news. He informed Felix of the 2 deaths, a mother and her newborn.
"Thank you for letting me know, doctor", Felix said
But he could also see that Dr. Black felt guilt over the death of the 2. He could never understand why some doctors blamed themselves for the death of their patients if they did everything they could to help them.
"Doctor, I am sure you did everything you could for them, it is not your fault. If it is anybody’s fault it's the fault of Cmdr. S'reena and her Romulan friends. No, doctor before you attack me and say she's got nothing to do with it. Look at it logically. They had to have had a spy on the Hanson in order to succeed, and there aren't any Romulans onboard except for her. You don't think that one of the Human or Klingon crewmembers would help the Romulans? Come now even you must admit she is highly suspicious. But I promise you if she had nothing to do with it, no harm will come to her. But for now we must consider her as a traitor.", Felix said
