"Commander Manto will be able to tell security more about them." She glared at Daya, even though there was absolutely no menace in her glare.
Daya looked up at the mention of his name, and was about to leave his station to his replacement, when he received a request to land a shuttle in the bay, from Methos. "Ma'am Lt. Colonel Methos is requesting permission to comeaboard, it appears he has a new shuttle" Daya said, just before granting the marine's request. He left the bridge as soon as he was done with that, and headed to sickbay, where he would have to talk with commander Manto.
Daya stepped into sickbay walking into the ending of a conversation. "Cmdr. Manto," Lucy said quietly as they put Bekkah on the floor and moved to the doorway, "we need to arrange a foster family for her. If it can be set up before we get back to Conquerer, it will help, I think." Daya looked at both of them, about to speak up but waited and moved past them heading towards a bio-bed. One of the nurses came up, but Daya just shoo-ed her away, not needing any medical attention at the moment.
Daya looked down at his legs when he felt something touching them, and saw a little girl. "Hello, who are you?" He asked, bending down to speak with her. "Bekkah" she said with a little whimper, as if she just finished crying, or was about to. "hello Bekkah, my name is Daya" He smiled at the girl, then stood up when he saw Commander Manto heading his way. "Commander, i would like to speak with you"

The Hanson was leaping to warp to follow the warbird, only instead of warp they managed motionlessness. Apparently the warp engine wasn't working so well after all. The Romulan warbird, unfortunately, wasn't polite enough to wait and give the Hanson a chance to catch up. Instead, it was heading directly towards...somewhere. Science should have been able to tell her that, if the Romulan 'bird had slipped up. But apparently they hadn't, and nothing was showing on any of the sensor inputs Crystal got information from. It was amazing how quickly a high-warp traveling ship that could cloak could disappear. Or not really amazing at all, when you really thought about it.
There was a brief moment of excitement from Science, where Crystal almost thought they'd have something to follow, besides a stationary starbase. But any methods for detecting warped ships were, by their very nature, invasive, so the Romulan warbird noticed that they had been tracked and changed course, dropping out of the Hanson's immediate ability to follow. Still, someone noted down what the course heading had been, to send to whoever went after the warbird.
Having done what little she could to help the ship sent after the warbird, Crystal headed her own ship towards Conqueror. It was time to let someone else take over the chase. Despite the mild disappointment Crystal felt at being forced to give up, she knew Commander Hope's decision was the right one. Another ship, one that hadn't been suffering the mechanical difficulties of the Hanson, would be better equipped to both catch the warbird, and to respond appropriately to the warbird once they'd caught it.
Crystal pushed the Hanson slowly up in her speed as she headed back towards Conqueror. Given what the warp engine had just done, she didn't want to risk damaging it before they could get repairs. But Commander Hope had said best possible speed. So Crystal struck the balance that she saw to be best, wondering if Cadet Sol would return to the bridge so she could hand over control for the last leg of their journey over to him.

S'reena held her breath as she felt the Hanson increase speed. Science had reported that they had found the warbird but almost immediately had lost track of it again. She exhaled sharply as the speed held and still picked up. Stars shot by on the main screen as the Hanson now flew home at high warp.
"Well done Crystal," she breathed, then tapped her combadge. "Well done Cadet James, well done indeed!"
Several hours later, the Hanson was guided back into her dock. All senior staff had uttered a cry of defiance as just when they were nearly home, the dilithium crystals blew out again and the ship dropped back to impulse. Then the impulse engines had sputtered and died.
It had taken two ships to give them a tow home as they were too damaged for one to be taking the full strain of a tow. It felt a little humiliating as to S'reena, the Hanson was the pride of the academy fleet. How was she going to break this to Drew? Needing to get towed home by two starships?
The ship shuddered as the moorings were attached and docking clamps were engaged. Umbilicals would soon touch the ship to allow direct connection with the starbase. Sighing, S'reena tapped her combadge. "Attention everyone! We have now docked Conqueror, successfully I might add! Shoreleave will now commence in order of shifts. Alpha shift, you are now clear for shoreleave."

Megan had successfully been able to track the warbird for a few minutes by scanning for the subspace variance, but then she’d lost the signal, as most likely the warbird had dropped to a lower speed. Megan wondered why whoever was commanding the warbird hadn’t dropped to below warp 6 as soon as they’d engaged the cloak. Her best guess was they hadn’t known or remembered to do so, which would make sense with an ex-Starfleet renegade commanding an old Romulan warbird.
Megan had kept Commander Hope appraised of the warbird’s position for as long as she’d been able to follow them, even though they all knew they were in no position to mount a pursuit with all the damage the saboteur had done. Once she’d lost the trail, the frustration on the first officer’s face was once again evident. Fortunately, almost as soon as the variance faded from sensors, her station signaled a reply from Ashley, and when she glanced up at him, she found him smiling at her. Turning back to her station, she read his message.
Garrett Tachyons, I set the lateral sensors to look for tachyon eddies. As the warbirds moves at low speed the impulse engine gas mix with the tachyons off the cloaking device. D'Ville
Megan glanced over at him and smiled in return. That would have been her next move after loosing high warp tracking capability, but it would have taken her several minutes to accomplish. It was great to have someone on the next step before it was needed, and then have it all ready to go once the first step ended.
Her screen was then flooded with the data from the second science station at just the right moment. It obviously wasn’t as clear as the high speed tracking had been, but it still presented a clear enough trail to follow for whoever was sent after the warbird. “Commander, Cadet D’Ville uncovered a faint trail, which is probably the last indication we’ll get. Shall I forward it to starbase for the pursuit vessel?”
A nod was the only response Megan received, and she quickly turned to compile the information they’d gathered so far. A message came in from Ashley, but she was too engrossed in her job to read it immediately, so she’d set it aside. She included previous scans of the warbird, and the entire path they’d taken from the moment they de-cloaked until the tachyon trail faded off of long range sensors. She also included an in-depth analysis of the trail so they might be able to pick it up again. Once all the information was together, she compressed it into a datastream and sent it ahead of the Hanson toward Starbase Conqueror.
Unfortunately, getting the Hanson herself back to base was proving to be a difficult challenge. The engines would pick up speed, and then something else would malfunction causing them to drop back down to impulse before Engineering would fix whatever had broken and they’d pick up speed again. The cycle seemed to repeat endlessly, and unfortunately, ended on a bad note with the Hanson coming to a complete stop a few minutes away from the Starbase.
As far as Megan was concerned, it was fortunate that there had been two starships nearby able to tow the Hanson to the mooring, but this seemed to worsen the moods of the bridge staff. Megan wasn’t entirely sure why, but with Science having nothing that would be able to help them move any faster or be able to dock on their own, Megan simply kept quiet, and continued analyzing sensors logs until they were successfully docked.
Once the docking was complete, and the ship stabilized in the docking bay, S’reena tapped her commbadge and said over the open commlink, "Attention everyone! We have now docked at Conqueror, successfully I might add! Shoreleave will now commence in order of shifts. Alpha shift, you are now clear for shoreleave."
A sigh of relief seemed to come from all stations at once, as officers began signing out and moving toward the turbolifts. Although she technically had never had a shift, Megan assumed that meant her Cadet tour was now over, and what a ride it had been. Megan signed out before suddenly remembering her duffel, which had remained shoved underneath her console during the entire hectic mission.
Smiling slightly at the irony, and secretly hoping her next mission gave her a chance to be assigned quarters, Megan retrieved her bag and headed toward the turbolift herself, with Ashley right behind her. She smiled once again at her fellow cadet, but the smile froze on her face, as it suddenly occurred to Megan that she’d forgotten to read his last message in the process of preparing the datastream for transmission.
Megan felt completely embarrassed that she’d forgotten, but hoped that maybe it hadn’t been anything too important. She figured if he didn’t say anything to her, it hadn’t been that important, but if it had been important, then he would most likely mention it again in the turbolift, and maybe she could find a way out of admitting she hadn’t read the message.
The solution to her problem fully formed in her mind, Megan entered the turbolift, followed immediately by Ashley, and turned allowing the doors to close. “Deck 8.” she ordered, and then waited to see what Ashley would say.

Cadet Grey reached out for Bekkah's hand when she sprinted away.
"Commander, i would like to speak with you"
OOC: Cmdr. Manto is not with us at this time but will return during a different mission. Cadet Lucy Grey will butt in.
Cmdr. Manto lifted her hand to signal "wait" then placed it on Lucy's shoulder. The CMO was once again waving excitedly for the commander's attention. Lucy smiled and watched her walk away.
"Cmdr. Daya, I'm Lucy Grey, counselor on this exam mission. We found little Bekkah, here on the outpost. I'm sorry to say her parents died during the attack before we arrived. Well, her father lasted for a while. I was with him at the time.
"Is she going to be alright?" Daya asked.
"She'll be okay. We were going for ice cream. Would you like to join us?"
::later::
Cmdr. Hope's voice came over the comm: "Attention everyone! We have now docked at Conqueror, successfully I might add! Shoreleave will now commence in order of shifts. Alpha shift, you are now clear for shoreleave."
Lucy, Daya, Manto and little Bekkah had eaten their fill of ice cream sundaes before Lucy returned Bekkah to sickbay.
The counselor had said a few things key to getting a patient to open up. Apparently, it worked on small children, too. After that, Bekkah had talked for a long time.
She hadn't liked the outpost and had tried to tell her mother that she wanted to go back 'home'. Her parents had quietly fought several times about it. Her daddy wanted to go home, too.
By the time Bekkah ran out of words, she was exhausted. In a cot set up for her, she fell asleep on a firm Starfleet pillow under a warm, lightweight Starfleet blanket. Lucy leaned over, kissed her on the forehead while brushing her hair back.
Standing, pushing her own hair back, Lucy turned to see Dr. Westgate. He smiled with what seemed to be pride at her. Then, not speaking, signaled her to procede him into the corridor.
"Is it over, doctor?" Lucy asked, "the test, I mean. Did all of this really happen? Is Bekkah going to be there sleeping if I come back?"

The solution to her problem fully formed in her mind, Megan entered the turbolift, followed immediately by Ashley, and turned allowing the doors to close. “Deck 8.” she ordered, and then waited to see what Ashley would say.
Ashley burst out laughing. 'Ok Megan, I understand I big and Klingon. Plus I lived out in the wilds of England.'
He watched Megan leave at deck 8.
'Deck 13, sensor maintain. he lift moved off.
Ashley entered the small room.
'Ok computer were going to talk.'
'Computer, display the problem sensor pallets and locate all the ODN lines running to it.'
The computer flashed up the information. There was a mass of lines appeared all over the screen. *Ok, this is going to be more needle*.
Ashley check and looked at all the flows rates, then looked at the mass of flow lines again they seemed to heading in to one relay box.
Deck 11, section 2 forward of bulkhead 4.
Ashley grabbed a repair kit and headed to section just behind the main dish. The jefferies' tubes started to get very normal for his frame at this point. But that was to be expected these ships was built for humans to crawl in. The box was just other side of this next narrow bit. Ashley squeezed through he got briefly stuck as his combadge got catch they ripped off un-noticed and droped down under the walkway hidden in the mass of ODN lines.
Standing in the narrow space, he opened the box and looked in, there was a small box attached to the relay that when to the affected sensor pallets, but it at links to half a-dozen other systems including the warp drive and life support. He scan the device with the tricorder in the repair kit. There was a small mircocharge in the device that registered a power build up in it. Ashley slap his chest and found that combadge was missing. Ashley quickly linked the tricorder into the ship's transporter and set the transporter to beam the device that it was set on into space 10,000 meters from the base and the Hanson. With another key he sent the scan to his PaDD. He watched the tricorder and device beam out into space. Breathing out after he had been holding his breathe. He closed all the open links in the relay box.
Pulling out his PaDD from the small of his back, he programmed a site to site transport to the bridge. He beam in to stand in teh center of the bridge. After the beam released him he looked around for a senior officer.

"Attention everyone! We have now docked at Conqueror, successfully I might add! Shoreleave will now commence in order of shifts. Alpha shift, you are now clear for shoreleave." Alex let out a very small sigh and headed to the turbo-lift normally he wouldn’t of thought of leaving since he was originally placed on the beta shift but now that Lucy kanz had left Alex had been moved to the alpha shift so he and 3 other officers piled into the turbo-lift “deck 4” Alex said and as the turbo-lift slowed to a stop and everyone headed to the transporter room Alex felt a bit sad, but also relived. Said that Lucy had left Starfleet, and the Alex would be leaving the Hanson, but relived that Alex finally take a short break. As they entered the transporter room and stepped on to the 6-man pad Alex said “energize.” After Alex had stepped on to the starbase he left the transporter room and went to the turbo-lift, after entering he said “crew quarters.” And as the turbo-lift stopped and he entered his quarters Alex had a felling that he was in a home away home. OOC: are we supposed to post on the starbase now?
