T'Dan entered the turbo-lift closest to his new quarters, the excitement that the young Vulcan felt when he first arrived on the Hanson was Tempered slightly when he found out that his Instructor was going to be Commander Westgate. Commander Westgate was a MD and Counselor not a Diplomat and Cadet T'dan wondered what kind of Diplomatic training the Dr. could give.
There was one thing that he was glad to see though, having read the Commander's file before reporting T'Dan had learned that he and Westgate had something in common..... They were both of the same ....."WORLD". Having grown up in West Virginia T'Dan was also a "Country Boy" although not one many would associate with the region.
As the Door slid closed behind him the Cadet asked " Computer locate Commander Westgate." "Commander Westgate is currently in his office, on Deck 3 Section 4" said the computer in a strangely relaxing tone. "Deck 3 it is then" ordered the cadet as the inertial dampeners kicked in. The Cadet often wondered what this day would be like, how he would feel reporting for his first assignment , he was relieved that the apprehension that he felt earlier in the week had been replaced by excitement and anticipation for what he hoped would be just the first steep of a long happy career in the fleet.
Just as he finished reading the Commander's Duty file the Turbo-lift door slid back revealing Deck 3. Deck 3 was were all the instructors had there offices and a deck that T'Dan was sure to become very familiar with. Rounding the sweeping corridor the cadet spied the door of the Commanders office, as he approached he felt a slight pang of fear and nerves which he quickly pushed back. Pressing the chime T'dan readied himself for the introduction that would change his life. When finally the door opened it revealed a Muscular man with Grey hair and a charisma and charm that T'Dan recognized immediately as that of a Appalachian. "Cadet T'Dan Blain reporting for duty as ordered sir" exclaimed the Vulcan as he waited for the commander to acknowledge his arrival. For the few seconds that it took T'Dan knew that he was were he was supposed to be and ready to learn all that he could, and as he stood there perfectly motionless a large smile spread across the young Vulcan's face revealing to his new Instructor that he was not your typical Vulcan[/i]

S'reena crossed the bridge to the turbolift and descended to her own office which was situated on deck two. It was nice and quiet and comfortably furnished to meed her requirements. Here, she could hold quiet meetings for away missions, away from the hectics of the bridge and all other distractions. She tapped her combadge as neither instructor were presently on the bridge. Youngblood had taken his cadet to his office, while Bates had taken his cadet back to engineering.
"Youngblood and Bates, please report with your cadets to my office," she called, "you have ten minutes."
Ten minutes later, the Romulan showed the instructors and their respective cadets what the distress signal had contained. "Mr Youngblood, I need you and Cadet Bonner to make sure it's safe for us to board the Maxell, plus you two need to find out who or what attacked the freighter. Bates, I need your expertise on warp drive theories. You and Cadet Sloan will need to keep the ship together until we have transported everyone off, in the event that you can't fix it. Any questions? Good, because I have an appointment with Dr Westgage. Bridge will inform us when we have reached the Maxell, I suggest you take the time to get prepared."
She nodded towards instructors and cadets, then walked out of her office and headed for Westgate's. She knocked on door and entered, surprised to find a Vulcan cadet sitting opposite of the counselor, smiling brightly. "Uhh, doctor? I hope you haven't forgotten about my appointment?" She glanded down at the still sitting cadet. "You must be Cadet Blain," she guessed, her smile vanishing just like that, making way for a nervous expression. "I'm Commander S'reena Hope, first officer."

The Red Alert claxon sounded, and crewmembers went calmly to their positions. Unfortunately for Konal, she was currently working on the Main Navigational Deflector on deck 11, and did not have enough time to finish it's final calibration. She would have to tell Tactical when she got to the bridge.
She entered the turbolift with Commander Bates and Mr. Sloan, who was just leaving main engineering. They, too, were reacting to the red alert.
"Do you know what this is about?" Konal hadn't a clue. The claxon started giving the older woman a headache.
Bates replied that he was on his way to visiting Commander Hope, and something about a ship being damaged.
"Oh dear. I hope there were no casualties. I better get right to my station then!" There was nothing she could do to speed up the turbolift. It stopped at deck 2 first, dropping Officer and Cadet off. It continued to the bridge.
On the bridge, she found her console completely sealed up, security indicator off. Where Mr. Reynolds usually stood, another officer was present. Reynolds had submitted a leave to the Admiral, and unfortunately was not with the crew anymore. It would be a loss, however. That, and Konal hadn't worked with the new operations officer in charge for the interim. Getting along with others was something she did rather well, though, she decided. Hopefully the attitude would be returned in kind.
Konal stood at her station awaiting orders, knowing full well that it may be awhile before the Admiral made his plans known. Careful planning was always prudent in situations like this, and the Cardassian was not one to rush others.
She was glad that, for once, she wasn't on the away mission. She rubbed her neck, something she had been doing a lot lately. It was a clear indication of overwork and stress. She wouldn't admit it though. As soon as there was a doctor that she could trust... and no Cadets around under their care, she would get it looked at.

"Indeed Commander I am Cadet T'dan Blain, and my I say that it is a pleasure to meet you sir, I have heard alot about you since my arrival at SB47" said the starry eyed cadet as he looked at his new Commander, her eyes were absolutely captivating and T'dan was mesmerized by the Romulan woman that stood before him. " Is there a problem Cadet ?" the Commander asked not hiding her displeasure with the cadet's stares, " ohh uhh.....no sir, Its just that I have never meet a Romulan before". He had hoped that his lie would be accepted by the Commander but he feared that the slight blushing of his face to a coppery green would betray his true embarrassment.
"Well then know you have met one, I hope that the next time we meet you will be a little more...... disciplined". " Yes sir" said the humiliated cadet as he rose from his seat in front of Commander Westgate's desk " It would seem that the two of you have some important business to discuss, perhaps I should wait out side till you are done ?"

Methos walked into the Marine Living Quarters to find that it was mostly spotless. He walked down the middle of the room and looked at each marine's bunk. He was almost finished when he noticed that one of the new transfers to the ship. He had left a sock on the floor in front of his locker. Just as Methos was going to mention it the Red Alert Klaxons started going off. Methos made a note in the PADD he was carrying and shouted, "Everyone, out of your dress uniforms and into combat. Report to battle positions. Sgt Taylor and Cpl Johnson your with me on the Bridge."
Methos ran down the hall to the turbo lift. He pushed the call button and waited. Just as the lift doors opened, the two Marines ran down the hall to meet him. The three of them entered the lift and Methos said, "Bridge."
The doors closed and the lift started up. Before the lift got to its destination, the lights went out and the lift stopped. Methos tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Methos to Engineering.=/\=
No response.
=/\=Methos to the Bridge.=/\=
No response.
Methos nodded to the two Marines with him and they opened the emergancy escape hatch and the top of the lift. Methos went up and stood on top of the lift and helped the other two up. They began to climb the ladder to get to the bridge, or at least another level. They got to a set of doors. Methos looked at the printed display on the wall.
'Deck 5'
"Let's open this door, we'll use the jefferies tubes to get to the bridge."
The began to open the door and exited onto deck 5. There was an Ensign waiting for the lift. "Sorry Ensign, but this lift is down. Have you had a problem with communications?" Methos asked.
"No sir. Not that I am aware of," came the reply.
Methos nodded and headed towards one of the jefferies tube hatches. He pulled it off and went in. He led the way to the bridge. He exited on the Bridge behind the Tactical station. As surprised faces turned to look at him, he said, "Sorry but the turbo lift and communication were down I had no other way to get here."

S'reena noticed his embarassment and made a mental note to remember that this was quite likely not your usual Vulcan. ~seems to become a trait~ she pondered as she continued to gaze at the young man before her. "Additionally," she started, deliberately adding a pause to see how he would react. "I prefer to be called ma'am. Sir is such a male term, and I am hardly a male."
This time, she smiled brightly at the two men, nearly missing Blaine's offer to excuse himself. "Not a chance cadet," she said firmly, pointing towards the seat he had just risen from. "You are to train as counselor, and as a diplomat in training one of your tasks shall always be to listen and to offer suggestions. Hence you are training with Doctor Westgate."
She glanced up at the counseling instructor and caught his affirming nod. "Now...with Doctor Westgate's guidance, why don't you start asking me a few simple questions?" She tapped the PADD she lay on the table. "This will hold valuable information," she suggested, "as well as the fact that I once destroyed a counselor's office." Her smile continued to brighten. "I don't particularly like counselors, you see..."

Westgate had been sitting at his desk, waiting patiently for the arrival of his ambassador cadet. When the young man did arrive, Westgate imediately welcomed him enthusiastically.
"Welcome, son. Come on in, have a seat, rest yourself. Ain't every day I get me a ambassador come a-knockin'."
They had just settled into a comfortable acquaintance conversation when Commander Hope came in, unannounced. She was sizzling about something, Westgate could see, and the air of comfort and gentility vanished like a stray vapor. She asked if the cadet was indeed Blain, and before Westgate could say anything, the young man spoke up.
"Nonsense, Cadet. Relax. The Commander and I have some business, perhaps, but not of an emergency nature, I'm sure. Commander, the youngster and I were just getting acquainted here, and there's a lot we have to go over. I'd be more than happy to discuss anything with you, but I believe that my Cadet comes first, if you don't mind, a-beggin' your pardon."

Yahnie was on the bridge talking with the Admiral. As he finished speaking a cadet walked in. “Please be at ease.” The admiral said to the cadet. Bonner relaxed slightly as Drew and Youngblood approached him. “I am sure the Commander has a lot that he would like to cover with you, so I will leave you both to it.” “I want you to know cadet that you are going to learn security tactics as well as tactical procedures. We will use the holodeck to train you in hand to hand combat training.
”Please follow me and I will show you the Security and Tactical Station where you will be learning and working. I want you to brush up on procedures of the Intrepid Class Vessel.” “I am sure we will be getting along and to let you know in my academy days my instructor was Klingon, in fact he is still on the USS Hepta.”
=/\= Do you think you could stop by or send someone over to help me with my main computer console. We are getting an intrusion attempt into the science database, but it's an awkward rhythm of lights- one I am not accustomed to seeing. It also makes no sense, because there is no data in the files that the indicator is displaying as compromised." =/\= All that was there was just filler algorithms to keep the sensor relays from completely locking up due to inactivity.” =/\=
=/\= “I believe the communications officer can handle this problem. If not contact me again and I will try to attempt to make the correction.” =/\="Youngblood and Bates, please report with your cadets to my office," she called, "you have ten minutes."
“I will show you the security office and a tour of the ship another time we must head to the Captain’s ready room.” Youngblood said.
<Captain's ready room>
Ten minutes later, the Romulan showed the instructors and their respective cadets what the distress signal had contained. " Mr. Youngblood, I need you and Cadet Bonner to make sure it's safe for us to board the Maxell, plus you two need to find out who or what attacked the freighter. Bates, I need your expertise on warp drive theories. You and Cadet Sloan will need to keep the ship together until we have transported everyone off, in the event that you can't fix it. Any questions? No questions at all I hope Iccan find out what you need. Good, because I have an appointment with Dr Westgage. The Bridge will inform us when we have reached the Maxell, May I suggest you take the time to get prepared."
Ok Cadet Bommer, This assignment will be your first task Take sensor readings and see if it safe for the away team to beam over. “As soon as were free I would like to take the time to go to the holodeck and show me your hand to hand combat experience.” Lieutenant Commander Youngblood and Cadet Boomer left the ready room and went to take the sensor readings.

S'reena nodded towards Westgate while she waited for T'Dan to answer to the information she had given him. "I will schedule a meeting when I get back from the Maxell," she told both men, "or rather, I expect you to remind me to schedule one, as I doubt I'll waltz in here on my own accord again in the near future."
The Romulan inclined her head towards the cadet, turned on her heels and left. She still had to prepare to beam over to the Maxell and her deadline was coming up really fast now. She just barely had some time left to get to her quarters, get something to eat and bit her family farewell.
At the appointed time, the three cadets (as Cadet Klang had now reported in as well) and their instructors stood waiting in the transporter room, armed with phaser rifles and tricorders. S'reena too was carrying a phaser rifle, as well as a regular phaser. She was also carrying a medical kit slung across her shoulder. "Energise," she ordered, and seconds later they stepped into havoc as they materialised at a random position on the Maxell.
"Youngblood, take Bonner and sweep the ship for intruders. You shall be team Alpha," she ordered, "Bates, you and Sloan are to head to engineering to see what you can find and you'll be team Beta Klang, you and I are going up to the bridge. Obviously, I'm Team Leader." She smiled grimly as the Klingon bared his teeth in amusement. Klingons tended to be exactly like the Klingon stereotype when battle could be forthcoming.
They parted ways and S'reena preceded the Klingon into corridor and led him to the bridge. "See if you can access the logs and tell me who or what attacked this vessel," she ordered, then tapped her combadge. "Team Alpha and Beta report!"
<cadets, get creative here, find what you like but don't fix anything in a single post. Please remember to be descriptive about your findings.>

(OOC: Sorry Sloan, but you're out of time on that status report)
Having returned to Main Engineering after Sloan completed his status report, Bates was showing his around the place a bit more, as they didn't have time before. However, they were once again cut short.
"Youngblood and Bates, please report with your cadets to my office," she called, "you have ten minutes."
Bates tapped his comm-badge. "Acknowledged, Commander. Let's go, Cadet. The XO's office is up on Deck 2."
=/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\=
"Mr Youngblood, I need you and Cadet Bonner to make sure it's safe for us to board the Maxell, plus you two need to find out who or what attacked the freighter. Good, because I have an appointment with Dr Westgage. Bridge will inform us when we have reached the Maxell, I suggest you take the time to get prepared."
Bates turned to face Sloan. "Back to Engineering we go."
As they entered back into Engineering, Bates rolled up near the Warp core. "Alright, we don't have very long for me to impart the basics of dealing with warp core overloads. As they teach the basics of a warp drive in most high schools, I won't take time to go over that now. Warp core overloads are usually caused by a coolant leak, which causes the warp reaction to increase uncontrollably. From the sounds of it, the Maxwell's warp core will be quickly approaching a core breach by the time we get there. Now, if that actually happens, we haven't a prayer of saving it. As it is, our only option may be to forestall it from happening long enough to save everyone. Not to mention we have to keep up the structural integrity field in order to keep the ship from breaking apart around us. Remember how I said you'd be juggling multiple systems simultaneously? Well, this will be it."
=/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\=
A while later, Bates and Sloan entered the transporter room. Noah felt a little strange rolling down the corridors with a phaser rifle resting on his lap, but it was supposedly necessary.
They transported over. The battle damage was everywhere. It was dark, sparks were flying, consoles were flickering, and the environmental controls had evidently been damaged as it was rather warm.
"Youngblood, take Bonner and sweep the ship for intruders. You shall be team Alpha," she ordered, "Bates, you and Sloan are to head to engineering to see what you can find and you'll be team Beta. Klang, you and I are going up to the bridge. Obviously, I'm Team Leader."
Bates pulled out a tricorder as the other teams headed off. "Gratefully," Noah said, consulting a tricorder, "Engineering is right down that way," he said pointing.
They entered Engineering, which was suspiciously empty. There was indeed a slight coolant leak from the looks of it. Why wasn't at least their Chief Engineer here trying to keep it under control?
"Looks like we don't have very long," Noah shouted over the noise of the coolant and all the alarms going off. I'll check structural integrity, you check the warp core," he said, rolling toward the Chief Engineer's station.
"Team Alpha and Beta report!" came Hope's voice over the comm-badge.
"It doesn't look good, Commander," Noah responded. "Warp core's going critical, and strangely, Main Engineering is completely empty. The engineering staff are nowhere to be found."

Bates waited for Cadet Sloan's report. Working furiously, Samuel tried not to miss anything. The moments ticked away, and Sam could almost feel the commander's patience slowly dwindle. It seemed like hours had crawled by when SLoan uttered his first words.
"Warp core," he paused, and adjusted something on the console, "definitely going critical. We've got a problem. The same damage that caused the coolant leak has completely destroyed the core ejection mechanism. I can't purge the core. I'm afraid if we don't do something fast, the entire ship is going to be destroyed but...we should be able to hold it together for a few more minutes. Suggestions sir?"

Klang responded to the Commanders orders in a hurry. He walked up to the Tactical station and began to read and download the logs into his tricorder.
"Commander, by these readings the Maxwell was attacked from nowhere. It doesn't make sense everything was fine and then out of no where they were attacked with no warning they didn't even have time to raise to shields. It was disruptors that hit the Maxwell. That is no way to die it was a one sided battle. Who ever committed this attack is without honor. Commander, that is all I can get right now. I can take the information i have in the tricorder back to the Hanson and use the computer to uncover the gar-bulled logs."
Klang stood there and awaited orders from Commander S'reena.

“Damnit” Elizabeth cursed as the intruder alert on her tricorder beeped, “we have more visitors!” During the last attack, after the warp core had failed, they had been boarded by pirates, half of her crew had already been killed during the initial attacks. The pirates had also helped themselves to the younger crewmembers, Human slaves were very profitable on the black market, this left Elizabeth with only her Engineer, Barry Tate and pilot Kim Yates. The three of them had taken shelter in the medical bay, one of the most shielded areas on the ship, hoping that their life signs would be masked.
“More pirates?” Kim asked grimly.
“Am not sure,” Elizabeth replied, “my tricorder took some damage, I can’t read their bio-signatures.”
“Where are they?” Barry asked, leaning over Elizabeth’s shoulder to look at the screen.
“The bridge and engineering, two others seem to be sweeping the ship.”
“Three teams of two,” Barry said, holding up his phaser, “we can easily overpower each team.”
“And what if they have reinforcements?” Elizabeth asked, “They transported here, so they must have a ship somewhere.”
“Hostages then,” Barry said, “we can’t just sit here and let them kill us!”
Elizabeth thought over her Engineer’s words, it was true that just sitting here was not going to accomplish anything, and sometimes the best defence was a good offence. Weighing up the options she made her decision.
“We take the two in Engineering first, from there we can regain control of the entire ship.”
“Sounds like a plan to me,” Barry grinned, adjusting the settings of his phaser.
“Ok, let’s do it,” Elizabeth said, taking her own phaser out of its holster.
Kim followed suited, and with all three of them armed, Elizabeth slowly led them out of the medical. She kept her tricorder open so that she could monitor the other intruders, but for now it didn’t look like anyone had spotted them moving around the ship.
Thankfully Engineering was not too far from sickbay, and they quickly got there without being disturbed. Outside the main door, Elizabeth slowly counted down to her officers, on the count of three they stormed Engineering.
“Get away from that console and put your hands on your head,” Elizabeth yelled as she ran in, her phaser pointing directly at the two intruders.

Noah went over to the console and checked on structural integrity. Down to 25% and falling. Any further, and the ship would begin tearing itself apart from the operation of its own damaged systems.
"Warp core," Sloan reported, "definitely going critical.
"We have ourselves a challenging situation, Cadet. The structural integrity field, or SIF, is also failing. The SIF needs more power from the warp core than it's presently getting in order to function, but the core needs a stronger SIF so that it can have a higher output. And as for the warp core, yes I'd say I have a few suggestions. I'm one of the experts when it comes to warp systems. What we need to do is-"
But just then, the door to Engineering opened, and 3 people burst in, pointing phaser. “Get away from that console and put your hands on your head,” one yelled as she entered.
"Do as she says, Cadet," Noah said as he backed his chair away from the console, and put his hands on his head. He thought of the phaser rifle resting on his lap, but thought better of it.
He called out. "I'm Commander Noah Bates, Chief Engineer of the USS Hanson. I'm a Starfleet officer. We were responding to your distress call. You don't have very long before your warp core breaches. We can help."

He called out. "I'm Commander Noah Bates, Chief Engineer of the USS Hanson. I'm a Starfleet officer. We were responding to your distress call. You don't have very long before your warp core breaches. We can help."
Sloan stared bewildered at the sight: 3 armed men and women, pointing phasers at him and his commander. And this is day one, Sam thought. But the anxiety returned. He heard the dull chirrup of the console, ticking off the moments; their time was running out.
"Excuse me for being so bold," The Cadet said easily, "but this is no way to treat you're rescuers." He took a step away from the console and toward the three, but the familiar whine of a phaser's setting being increased slowed his pace.
"Look," Sloan said, regaining some semblance of his confidence, "You can shoot me right now, I really don't mind. From the receiving end, a breached warp core and phaser fire probably feels just about the same. You hear that sound? It's the computer ticking off the seconds before this whole ship does it's finest impression of a fire cracker. So you better shoot me now, because I'm turning right around, and I'm going to stop this warp core breach."
It was an absurd gamble. Sloan didn't know how to stop the breach, and he was staring down the the hard lines of fully charged phasers. But he was right: if he didn't get Commander Bates and himself back on track, they would all perish, awfully. Pointlessly. He stared into the eyes of his would be assailants, and began to turn back to the ferociously blinking lights of the engineering console.

"You did say you felt we needed to talk through this a bit more," Konal said, showing an unusual shyness to the Counselor. His cadet stood to the side, oblivious to the events that took place last mission. Konal realized this, and looked up long enough to smile at him.
"I don't remember where we left off. That pleasant Cadet you had... what was her name?"
"Lucille Grey?" he responded.
"Yes, Lucille. She seemed like she will make a good counselor. I hope she received a decent assignment." She still stared at the floor as she spoke. She was beating around the bush, hoping someone would break the ice. Westgate kept silent, although he sensed the uneasiness. Commander Manto assumed he was waiting for his Cadet to respond. What better way to learn how to be a Starfleet counselor than to dive in.
Before the counselors could respond Konal let out a large sigh. She was notably distressed at the thought of having to relive her Outpost 1.2.9 experiences yet again, as she was rubbing her neck ridges. One didn't have to be a counselor to understand her tell.
"I guess I am just disappointed. I have worked so hard lately, and now I feel like I was almost pushed back into a situation I tried so hard to be apart from." For the benefit of T'dan she summarized the previous mission.
"You see, we had orders to secure Outpost 1.2.9. It was a botany outpost I was in charge of before coming here," she took her hand from her neck and clasped them together in her lap to tell the story. "Dilithium deposits were found underneath, and the research we were doing could be moved elsewhere Starfleet decided. Of course it never was rebuilt elsewhere, the funds were mis-allocated." she shrugged, as if to say 'these things happen'.
"To make a long story short, former workers had attacked the outpost mining consort. It was brutal. They tried getting me to join them, but I refused. Still, I am a bit distressed now over the whole ordeal." She shook her head back and forth in disbelief.
"After I lost my husband... my children...my family." her face turned more bold. This was a set of emotions she had learned to deal with a long time ago, and she had no problems facing them. The lump in her throat dissolved as she spoke, "I promised myself I would not get involved with mindless acts of terrorism. It's the whole reason I joined Starfleet. I like my life here." she grew quiet again.
Westgate and T'dan took this first opportunity to begin speaking.

=/\= Youngblood here. “Cadet Klang you need to report to Commander 1st Class S'reena Hope.
Klang, you and I are going up to the bridge. Obviously, I'm Team Leader." She smiled grimly as the Klingon bared his teeth in amusement. Klingons tended to be exactly like the Klingon stereotype when battle could be forthcoming.
Cadet Bonner and Youngblood went to the transporter room and beam over to the Maxell.
S'reena tapped her combadge. "Team Alpha and Beta report!"
=/\= “Team Alpha reporting in on the Maxwell so far no intruders, we just began our search. It will take sometime to get you a full report.”=/\=
Cadet Bonner “What we are trying to determined is what attacked the freighter. I want you to use the ship sensors to want you can find out and I will be searching deck by deck as soon as you are done report to me for more instructions.”

"Aye Sir" Jay said
Turning on his wrist light he started to make his way to the nearest console being careful not to trip over any debris. As he made his way there he began to feel like he was being watched but the ship had just been through hell an back it looked like. When he got to the tactical console he noticed it was covered in pieces of the Maxwell’s bridge. As he cleared the tactical station he noticed he seen some fresh palm prints by that station. Putting his hand by the phaser he was carrying he began getting power restored to the tactical console and started running the senor sweep. As the sweep was running he kept his guard up. The computer made a bad chirp sound when the sweep was done but the sensors had been damaged in the attack so they weren’t giving accurate reading but he was getting most of the important information. It wasn’t looking good so started to wonder why they where even on this mangled ship after the readings he got.
Taping his combadge he said:
=^=“ Sir, The sensors where damaged during the attack from what I could gather warp drive is offline main power is also offline back up systems are beginning to fail. I rerouted power from all non Essencal systems to Life support and Structural integrity it looks like we have about an hour or two at max. Sensors also show a few life signs but do to the damages I cant get a lock on there positions. Also it looks like someone began deleting the senor logs before we got here because I’m not getting any readings from the senor logs on the attack. I also found some fresh palm prints on the tactical console. ”=^=
(OOC: I want to say im sry I missed some of the mission work sent me out of town and i didnt have time to email you... ill do my best to stay caught up.)

"I was here for that mission, if you recall, Commander. Miss Grey did a wonderful job, a-bringin' back that young'un like she did. I know it must must've been a hard one for you. Unfortunately, sometimes, we have to deal with the senseless things other people do, the god-awful messes other people leave us. It's part of the job we do. You are not responsible for what happened back there on that outpost. You are not responsible for what happens outside of your control. What comes, comes. Some things you just gotta remember, learn from, and let go of."

Elizabeth stared at the two men before her, uncertain what to do. It was true that they were wearing Starfleet uniforms, but that meant little, anyone could pick up one of those on the black market. But this kid who had stepped forward seemed convincing, and it was true that the warp core was going to go at any moment.
“Fine, but my Engineer will help you,” Elizabeth said, still holding her phaser, “and for now you two are staying here.”
“No funny business,” Barry said holstering his phaser, “now let’s get this warp core sorted, I don’t know about you, but I have no intention of dying today.”
“And I think I’ll take those badges off you,” Elizabeth said, walking over to the elder of the two supposedly Starfleet Officers and removing the comm badge from his chest.
Leaving Kate to guard the hostage, Elizabeth walked over to the warp core where Barry and the talkative kid were working.
“Well, what’s the diagnostic fellas?”

The bridge of the freighter was eerily empty and silent and S'reena couldn't help but shiver at the feeling of unease it gave her. She was so lost in her thoughts she barely heard the Klingon cadet speak. The Romulan asked him to repeat his report, which he dutifully did. "We can't go back to the Hanson just yet cadet," she informed him, "we have a job here and we're not leaving until we're done doing it. Understood?"
She watched the Klingon as he too seemed uneasy and willing himself to hide it. S'reena, however, had served with Klingons too long not to notice it. "It's alright to feel uneasy cadet Klang," she offered gently, "there's no dishonour in that. In fact, I believe it shows courage to show one's unease, don't you agree?"
S'reena pointed to the security console. "Try retrieving their last security logs," she told him, as she walked over to the science console to do the same. "Report anything you find. I want to know who attacked these people and where they are!"
Angrily, she slapped her combadge. "Bonner, Youngblood, report to the bridge," she ordered, then tapped her combadge again. "Bates, Sloan, status!" No answer. S'reena slapped her badge again, but got only static.
Her face a mask of worry, she turned to her Klingon companion. "Something is wrong," she said, "see if you can get internal scanners online." She tapped her combadge again. "Bonner, Youngblood, did you find anyone on this ship? Bates and Sloan aren't answering. Could be something in engineering is blocking them but I want you two on alert anyway. Report anything you find, however unimportant you think it is!"

Noah was perplexed and frustrated. Sloan was being allowed to work, while he himself had a phaser pointed at him. Noah leaned forward to reach the wheels of his chair, in order to move over to the console to help, the subordinate of the two women thrust her phaser closer, as if to say "Don't move". She then eyed the phaser rifle resting in his lap.
"Captain," she said, reaching down and picking up the rifle while still pointing her phaser at him. "Look what the cripple had on him," she said, holding up the rifle.
The woman refered to as Captain turned around. "Well well, you certainly are well-supplied impostors, aren't you," she said, taking the rifle from the subordinate.
"You're making a serious here," Noah asserted.
"Oh?" the Captain said mockingly. "And what mistake would that be?" she asked, pointing the rifle at him.
"I'm the one you want your Engineer fix your warp core. Mr. Sloan is only a Cadet. I've got a Ph.D. in Warp Mechanics. And you're having him help you instead of me? How much do you really want to be not dying today, in your Engineer's own words?"
"You certainly sound convincing, but pirate often do. And I must say; the wheelchair? Nice touch. Granted, if you really were a Starfleet officer, 'Commander', no doubt they would have restored your mobility. Therefore, we'll leave it up to 'Cadet Sloan'."
Noah just folded his arms, settled back in his chair, and glared at them.
"Don't you think about it, either," the Engineer said to Sloan in a low voice.
Noah just continued to glare at the Captain.

"Don't you think about it, either," the Engineer said to Sloan in a low voice.
Noah just continued to glare at the Captain.
"He's right, you know," Sloan said, as his left hand slid to the comms section of the console before him, "I can dump a lot of energy into the EPS system, maybe even flood the deflector array with the excess warp plasma, but eventually this core is going to erupt." As he spoke, he entered a simple command. On the the bridge of the crippled trading ship, the security console display suddenly registered an alternating phaser fire and open flame alert, indicating the engineering room as it's location. Sloan hoped the message would be enough to alert his fellow crew to their location.
"Shut up," the engineer said to Sloan, "and get back to work."
"Look, you know I'm right," the Cadet countered, "neither of us are skilled enough to stop this brach. Besides, why are you people so convinced that we're imposters." Sloan turned to face the ships captain. "Why would pirates replicate Starfleet uniforms so that they can hang around the belly of a crippled ship that's about to explode. No offense Captain, but this isn't exactly a Klingon battle cruiser: why would pirates risk their lives to try to salvage this ship, damaged as it is?"
The engineer, spurred by Sloans remarks and the steely gaze given to him by his captain, struck Sloan a blow to the stomach. The wind temporarily knocked out of him, he doubled over in pain. "I said get back to work," the engineer roared. Sloan steadied himself on the console, and coughed out the last of his burning breath.
"Just...let my commander take my place..." Sloan wheezed. In the cadet's own mind, he saw himself, and all around him, shredded and vaporized, a hazy collection of flotsam streaking icily through space. He thought of the cruelty of these few desperate souls, the violence and the ugliness they showed to Sam and Noah. He looked into the burning eyes of the ships captain...and for the first time in a long time, true, pure horror crept into the mind of Samuel Sloan.

"No," the Captain replied, "because I still don't trust you. If your Commander is truly the greater talent, he would also be the more dangerous if granted access to the ships systems. We'll let him advise you, but nothing more."
Noah looked at Sloan, and saw the look of terror on his face. The kid was crumbling. "Cadet....Cadet Sloan! Look at me. Focus on me, the sound of my voice. You're a Starfleet cadet. Don't forget how much that in itself means. You're here because passed certain assessments, and were deemed to have the potential to be a Starfleet Officer."
Sloan slowly looked at him, his face calming slightly. "Now, focus on the problem. Our main problem is a leak of the plasma coolant. You have to find a way to seal that leak. Now what can you do about that?"
